2 years ago, I loved the Canadian Grand Prix. I really do not know why, I mean Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld scored BMW Sauber's first ever win and 1-2, while Timo Glock scored his highest finish at the time in fourth. I just can't think why that was awesome. And so, F1 returns to the land of Ice Hockey and Maple Syrup after a years break. But, that comes later on in the week. In fact, I had no real reason to bring it up for a rather miserable Monday, but its cheered me up. Good times, onto the bulletpoints:
- For the last one and a half years, Wetpaint has served as a good host for the Sidepodcast Wiki. But due to the poor navigation and lack of being like a wiki, the Wiki can now be found over at Wikia. Already, going by the Dictionary page, it looks bloomin awesome.
- As well as the Wiki, there have been a few awesome posts going up on Sidepodcast as well. Tweets of the Week is back! (formally hosted on F1 Minute of course). Also, the About page is getting a facelift. It now includes info on the presenters, the history and apparantly the housewives favourite, Alex Andronov.
- Gavin popped off to the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen to watch the Speedway Grand Prix (the greatest spectacle on earth, sorta). He took some pics of what he could see, but sadly, none of my new favourite person Tai Woffinden. Who.is.awesome. I've probably confused you right now, so I'll swiftly move on.
- Early in the morning, and I mean early, earlier than Australia GP early, a group of us watched the IndyCars from Texas. I won't lie, I enjoyed it. Overtaking, drama and a bloke called Ryan winning (which always is a bonus). You can relive the experience if you want, or watch the main talking point which was a scary moment involving Simona de Silvestro.
So thats all for this week, apparantly there is this, World Cup thing coming up on Friday. Don't know if you've noticed that recently. For me, I have a ton of exams coming up as well, 4 in 3 days starting on Tuesday. So I might not be around too much during the week, but I'll be here on Friday, don't you worry.
Have a nice Monday.
wow hello new day.
Finished one minute over, am disapointed.
How on earth is it tomorrow already?
Time goes too fast. I need matt smith to come and sort that out,
did it work? :S
wohoo! welcome to Monday :)
Welcome, to the woorrrld of tommmoorroooww!!!
Seems like it
nice daily rg, and yay for enjoying indycar.
loving the new wiki too. it's works on safari.

Futurama - useful in all parts of life
I'm shocked its taken me like 6 dailies to get my first speedway mention in.
are we going to live comment speedway next?
I imagine it will be a post of just me...
awww
why thank you :)
Oh how different things would be if I wasn't mobile doohickeying!
hehe. think how much it will drop when you leave the country.
the comments are gonna be silent over night when Amy's away :(
It's like when I go to New Zealand and get major doohickey withdrawals. It might be worse when I am away since I am staying only in places with wi fi and will only be an hour ahead of you all :D
wow! it's just occurred to me, you're going to be on the same time zone as us at times! who is going to tell us what the future is like? :(
Time to head off, night guys.
night!
Night Lukeh
night mate.
Paul and jeremy will have to step up to the futureising plate.
the sidepodtradition of volunteering people continues :D
lou, did you listen to the latest aside show?
not yet. it's set aside for tomorrow lunch time.. i was catching up with the awesome sidepodchat and things this lunch. why?
I may have to take holidays from work :P
ahh, no worries. was expecting a comment from ya. plenty of talk about photographers and stuff.
that is dedication
oooo!!!! sounds perfect for a lunch break between studying then! :) am very much looking forward to it, i'm always a bit behind with the aside shows, cause i like to listen to them all in one go and give them all my attention so.. it's either train journeys or lunch times :)
I also may have gone photographer crazy today emailing many of them again.. :)
based on Amy's hours.. it sounds sensible ;)
Amy will you still be my tennis guru or will i need to find a temporary one? :)
I can remember when I had to spend hours to get you to send one e-mail
:)
all this studying you're doing! :P sounds exhausting.
am off now so see you friday lou, good night everyone else :) x
talking to lots of photographers and marshalls on monday made me realise how most of them are really nice. plus with Lorenzo living close to Farnham i should really start being nice to him again :D
Night Emily.
Have fun with no internet.
What am I saying?
oiii you!!! you lay quiet for ages and then pop up with a mean comment! :P
see you friday!!!
you know where he lives?
night em
and his phone number
madness
it's how i roll :)
you make it sound like i stalk him :(
it says on his site..
http://www.lorenzobellanca.com/main.cfm?Type=C
i was just checking for any updates cause there haven't been any regular ones since 2008.. and i found his contact details..
and his favourite breakfast cereal.
hahaha last one of the night lou, promise.
:D
i hate you.... :P
<3
I can do it still. US Open is on while I am away! Hope I can watch a Roger match when I'm in Switzerland :D
i wasn't even looking for it or anything!
hmmm i shall have to annoy you on friday.. seeing as your driving to the party it means you can't drink! :P <3
nice house.
Just have to stick to Vimto
wohoo! :) that would be awesome! you've have to blog about it too!
He has his own domain and has a btinternet e-mail address?
i wonder if i need to send him another email alerting him to the fact he even has his post code published?
minor fail on that score :)
am sure he's fine with it.
you can forgive him for that tho.. specially as he walks down the paddock like this..
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10tur1238.jpg
and
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10tur1239.jpg
:D
Tell him he needs a more professional e-mail address and you can advise how to do that
noooooooo... i want him to like me..
Why is it every time I open a Sutton link it re-sizes my Firefox window?
it's cause you need chrome ;)
You tell him in a helpful way. You don't just say oi you sort your e-mail out. You say are you aware that since you have your own domain you can have an e-mail address that better reflects your status than btinternet which is rrrrubbish
Google is not taking over my world
the more i look at those pics the more i think that the photographers have a very fun time in the paddock :)
safari? apparently they're supporting bing from tomorrow.
Oh. Sky at night on BBC1
okay, i must sleep. night all! xxx
Night Lou.
night lou
I am getting jittery at not being able to update the wiki from my phone. This site has done bad things to my mental stability.
hehe. what about the new wiki?
Can't do that one either. Need to try other mobile browser :D
New wiki not the best on mobile as there is no navigation on the left hand side
doh :(
new mobly for amy?
nein as I am not much of a wiki editor, i am just excited by finalising something to do with Spa :D #sorryMrC
I can't access it either :( #isasleep
:(
my friend just cancelled on me for the second day in a row but this means I get to go home and play with the wiki sooner. Hooray!
hoorah, morninggg
Good morning, everyone, long time no see.
Brilliant news that the wiki has moved to Wikia, I used to be head sysop over at the F1 Wiki until I ran out of time to do it. Now no one edits it, and it looks a bit rubbish. :(
To mirror the opening post...
2 years ago I hated the Canadian Grand Prix...
A certain Brit derailed a win for Kimi and marked the point where 2008 became a bad year....
This year I will be there as a rather disinterested observer and I can only hope that something exciting enlivens the affair... not a crash but perhaps a spot of fisticuffs in the paddock?...
Much as I'd like it to be between Alfonso and Felipe, Mark and Seb and Jense and Lewis I think that the biggest likelihood is....
Vijay and Mike?...
Odds anyone?....
Yeah, a very strategic decision on who to crash into when he didn't see the light... but it wasn't just Canada where Kimi went off - Monaco, Canada, France were all races where a slight mistake (only one by him) and all was lost :(
Morning,
I didn't get any pics of Tai Woffinden because I had no idea he was your man #sorryRG :(
And Spa was the kicker. I was cheering for Kimi to win that because I knew if he did, he had a shot at the WDC...
I remember that moment, I was right there facing the pit lane exit :-)
Ham Rai Canada and Ham Rai Canada and the parked cars
Love this XKCD: http://xkcd.com/750/
Gotta wonder about the future of that particular protest!
Morning peoples.
Morning :)
Raining cats and dogs here!
Oooh. I have sunshine but it is not as hot as before.
it is so cold here that my trifle has somehow managed to freeze in my fridge, and isn't defrosting very quickly out of it.
Are we swapping weather at the moment? I noticed last night Lukeh was in a storm when we had a nice warm evening...
Oh custard!
I thi my nephew is currently cycling in Wales, so will he wet or dry?
It's Wales, so probably wet ;) #sorryLukeh
:D
I should probably add that the joke around here is that this time next year we will be saying "I remember last summer - it was a Wednesday..."
Webbo officially around for another year then: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/84204
Aha. So perhaps they don't want to risk loosing a potential world champ, a-la Brawn
Ahh the memories. I bet the BBC remind Lewis of that over and over ;)
I just went outside for about five minutes, and came back in with a massive spider crawling all over me.
Outside is officially bad.
I find this interesting. I would have thought he would be looking around considering his talent and the fact the team seem set against him. Maybe this partly explains the silence after Turkey.
However, this is great for Red Bull as there's no chance of him going rogue and not following team orders on the basis of him leaving at the end of the year...
You do know spiders are indoors too, right?
I have sat at this desk for many months without a giant spider appearing on my shoulder.
I had a wasp at my desk once - impressive considering I sit at the back of a building with no windows!
Joe has found a venue for his Silverstone evening: http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2010/06/07/british-gp-fans-a-chance-to-talk-to-joe/
Joe's verdict: http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2010/06/07/webber-re-signs-for-red-bull-racing/
There also don't seem to be seats anywhere else in the top teams, McLaren and Mercedes will be keeping the same drivers. Ferrari look set to keep Massa so if Webber wants to be at the front Red Bull is really the only choice.
I want to know where the Singapore one is :( Super planning can't happen with no info! :D
I guess Alonso learned that lesson in 2007?
Difference is in 2007/8 there were two top teams McLaren and Ferrari. With 4 teams at the top there is a few more options. It seems though, that Nico Rosberg isn't definate for Mercedes next year yet.
So there are 8 prime slots available - I think at least two will be different next year, with Webber, Massa, Schumi prime candidates...
Renault would like to think there are (or soon will be) 10 prime slots ...
Indeed and at the moment neither Renault driver is confirmed for next year.
GARRRRRR!!
Can someone put me an extra day in the week so I can go get my car serviced.....
you don't call 13 30 32 for Lube Mobile to come to you? :P
Don't you have a Handyman brother in law?
I am pinging my Archers post for Mr C's benefit - who says that if I don't ping posts they don't exist.
http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/06/07/the-archers-may-2010/
I don't expect anyone to read it :)
as a foreigner, I certainly don't understand :D
Think Neighbours, but on a farm, and with no pictures as it's on the radio ;)
good morning folks
Much as I'd like it to be between Alfonso and Felipe, Mark and Seb and Jense and Lewis I think that the biggest likelihood is....
Vijay and Mike?...
Odds anyone?.... {Comment #82}
The verbal equivalent is guaranteed, though probably behind closed doors. Probably.
anyone else heading to the joe shindig at silverstone?
I just put winter sheets on my bed. I think this is the greatest day of my life.
Not I, said the Goat...
Is he doing one at Spa?
no idea yet
I hope so! Sidepodcast alone could fill it up, he should host it at our motorhome :D
talking animals - It is Canada time ! :-)
Webbo officially around for another year then: http://www.aut...s/report.php/id/84204 {Comment #98}
Speechless, obviously ;)
Hehe this is rather awesome. The sun is out and I'm on my aunts garden swing thing revising with her very cute dog in my lap :) how is everyone?
I will now officially start rumours that Seb Buemi will partner Vettel at Red Bull in 2012
very tired
I guess you can't have two MEGA silly seasons in a row. :D
As for Buemi... I'm not convinced. Going by the current pace, Jaime/Tim has a better chance of getting that seat.
Hello. Rain's here. I'm tired. IndyCar at silly hours was fun but a lesson not to stay up all night for Le Mans...
good... so far. all will be known in 3-6 hours. :D
Hooooray McLaren have finally opened up the applications for paddock tours for the second half of the season :D :D *applies*
Agreed. Tim is more of a fit for the Red Bull brand isn't he?
I say Buemi purely because he's not on Vettel's pace - he'd be a better No 2 than Jaime, who I think is a bit more tasty
what's happening in 3-6 hours?
Can anyone here do that? It's a bit of a silly idea as you don't see that much...
People tried at the race last year and you would see them spreadeagled by 7am the next morning. No more race for them!
we can try...
It's not worth it, really. Watch a bit of night racing then grab some sleep between 2-6am...
There's TV and RLM coverage all night so there's something to follow.
It is always difficult to know when to stop because a lot of the time is made up overnight.
I have a feeling I will be sleeping on my couch that night...
I think I slept for an hour at most. I like a challenge.
Can anyone here do that? It's a bit of a silly idea as you don't see that much... {Comment #141}
I can try. I nearly managed it last Saturday night and I didn't even want to!
if all goes well, we will reach a major project milestone by then. today's our deadliest deadline. so it's now or never for us. :D
if all goes well, we will reach a major project milestone by then. today's our deadliest deadline. so it's now or never for us. :D {Comment #148}
Good luck!
you're getting married??
Thank you. We need every single bit of it.
heavens, no! this is proper work. :D
My aunts dog has been eating my flip flops.. This would never happen with a cat....
wow good luck!
marriage can be hard work...
:D
that is true, but nooooot just yet. ;)
Oh no.. Stuart Cable is dead :(
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/10253098.stm
Last year for me, I got up at 7 to watch the warmup and scope out a good spot - did tons of walking (about 10km the first day I think) so by midnight I was really tired.
On sunday I did the same so I was pretty beat after the race!
Best of luck :)
It'll be 10x more tiring at the track so that's pretty good going.
If I get a paddock tour in Spa I wonder if I can smuggle 13 people in with me. Good times.
aye - saw that earlier
very sad - only 40
Just worked it out - Saturday-Sunday I walked 22km...
Woohoo for refunded oyster money :D
Are you stealing money from the london ratepayer?
Excuse me no? I'm taking back my own money that I didn't use because someone lives somewhere stupid that doesn't take oyster....
I will be fair though, the stupid place you live does have ducks :P
and you're never going to london ever again?
unfortunately, our Adriana is gone too...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adriana_Xenides
I keep the money on mine and I only use it once a year...
I didn't have to give the card back. I can always top it up again. There is really no point to having £30 sat on a card that I won't use for years. I'll probably lose it or something....
I now regret giving back my EZ-Link card in Singapore. Although I think I read somewhere that they have changed the cards since 2008, so I'd need a new one anyway.
big place :)
Is she the lady Kath and Kim refer to as 'Adriana Extremities'?
It is. We stayed in the middle too. In fairness, that was over 36 hours, so it's not as much as it sounds. But boy was I tired on Sunday after the race!
Same, pretty much
Of course we read it and comment. Hello all.
Do dogs find flip flops tastier than cats? :P
I should probably go for a 22km walk, the amount of trifle I have just eaten is shameful. #fatty
hehehe, they dont take oyster in lots of places!
Flip flop vitamins are indeed plentiful - especially if they're well worn...
http://visitorshop.tfl.gov.uk/english.htm I can buy one before I even set foot in the country! London <3 the super planners.
♥
Hello
Well I didn't even use it once for a token journey when I was down last. I've decided I want the cash!!
I'm commenting on the one you haven't pinged :)
I am just about to!
http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/06/07/i-am-not-a-water-spout/
:)
I'm trying to decide what to do about Goodwood as I live so near. I am pleased that there is a special bus service from Chi station so the travel will be easy. I've not been before so I don't know the best day and I can't afford to go for the whole weekend. Which day are most people planning to go?
I like archers posts,
I cant listen to it myself, but it does sound quite interesting when people talk about it!
You never listen to me talk about it!?!?
I don't listen to the radio, I get the podcast, you can subscribe on iTunes ;)
Heheh :)
hehe, not physicaly, i mean i dont have the patience, ;)
Also I've managed to lose one shoe that I was planning on wearing tonight. Can I #blamenick for that too please?
I listen to at double speed which helps.
You never do!
I told you might aunt was in it and you were impressed at my demi-celebrity status and that was about it!
Of course, it is your duty to #blamenick for everything.
So cool.
Startledbunny is going Sunday and it seems a contingent are there for the weekend. I'd like to go Sunday (I can't afford the weekend either, I can barely afford one day), that's the day the more famous drivers/etc are there (usually). But it is also busier.
Wha?
Is it difficult? it sounds like a good way of getting though audio books, which are often read at the speed of paint drying
I basically listen to everything x2 speed on the iPod. It is the best feature ever. When I watch or listen to non double speed things from the same people, it sounds like they are drunk.
I used the audio function on my kindle the other day because when I finished work I was 92% of the way through my book and I HAD to know how it ended so I listened to it on the way home. I give this function I thought I would never use a thumbs up.
Right I'm off to return my leaking hair products. I feel I've managed to net a lot of cash today without actually doing anything....
Thanks Pat. Looking at the train info there's no engineering that will get in the way if I go Sunday. Will have to make a decision soon I suppose.
I have the opposite problem with your podcasts as I listen to the ones I transcribe in half speed, and then I listen to them again at full speed just to make sure I didn't miss anything. At normal speed it sounds like everyone is very excited and talking very fast. Speaking of which, someone at work said to me today "did you know whenever you talk about the Grand Prix you start talking really fast?" :D :D
In tennis news, Roger Federer married a tournament.
Goodness, I watched the arabic news with subtitles the other night, they seem to talk at least twice as fast as people do in english, i often wonder if they think we are all really slow and purposefull, or just confused
Music podcasts are AWESOME on double speed ;)
I think people here are just slow and purposful...
I have two colleagues from Venezuela. In their Spanish dialect, I am certain that they are talking double speed!
they would get on well with Nadal, he speaks so fast even my friend who has studied Spanish for 12 years can't understand him.
I've done the preamble (or Article 0) of the Sporting Regulations explanation, which makes me feel happy. Though three-and-a-half screens to do seven lines was a surprise.
i hope this works seeing as i'm on my ipod touch.. but.. i've made a friend today
http://twitpic.com/1urpkj
cuuuute!
he's almost too cute, unfortunately he keeps trying to lay all over me when i'm revising. hence why i'm now on the floor and he's got the sofa :D
Hello peeps
Mr C & Christine:
Am starting a WWDC piece now, will be done before 5:30
bassano - you heading to joe next month?
Ooh, fabulous!
Huh?
Silverstone, don't think so?
fair enough- anyone else heading to it?
If I were doing the Grand Prix, I would
Am hoping he'll do Spa, on current form, he should do
yes, us. i think. we'll get tickets this evening.
I can't make Joe and Goodwood, and I've picked Goodwood (hoping he does Spa)... Hopefully we'll see a good contingent there though?
Aye - thinking of getting a train up and coming back to London after afterwards. Unfortunately I won't be doing the GP itself
us neither.
which says a lot about f1 this year. we will travel to two race tracks this year, on the same day that racing is happening. but never pay to pass through the gates.
crazy.
Something to do with being priced out of it. Heard raceday in Turkey did OK numbers on Sunday once they slashed ticket prices
it doesn't represent value for money.
...or sanity
Silverstone tried to do something about it by putting the cars in view twice, at least in a couple of places anyway. Seems a bit backwards to me.
based on how late the last one finished i'm thinking i wont make it back from the venue to London in time for my last train :( bad times.
What time is the 'audience'? I might consider it...
:(
Yeah - the last train will get me back in London about 1am - it'll be late, but then again I'm used to that
7-11pm
I'm ok with that. Getting on the last train has always been my issue ;)
1am is an hour after my last train. bad times. i shall see Joe another time hopefully. he's too awesome. :)
:)
I'll be sober, so I'll survive. The venue is about 5 miles from Milton Keynes Central station and the last train is about 11.45, so there should be enough time
i can see that, but i'm not sure it makes a difference. the price is too high for a day out. even if it were an oval, it wouldn't make me pay.
You don't do meet-ups with me a lot do you? ;)
it is possible to have a meet up with you and be sober.. :)
If some of Dublin's hardest rock 'n' roll musicians can't corrupt me, I'd like to see you try.
;)
challenge bassano
Err, can I take the fifth?
True.. and my bank balance has been in pain for ages after paying for the Spa ticket (though not entirely due to that). If it were somewhere other than Spa I probably wouldn't be going.
pint?
Haven't we already done that, I remember an Orange Drill and some predictions?
That's a good start
:D
mini-schumi speaks: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8725882.stm
That's what Barrichello says at every race
(ba dum tisch)
Nooooo, he doesn't deserve that moniker just yet
watch the interview. the mannerisms are exactly the same.
"i know i'm in the wrong, but i ain't budging"
#sameperson
wouldn't be the first stubborn F1 driver in all fairness
we'll see. i'm calling it now, let's see how he looks in 5 years time ;)
Old and Grey with stark memories of a vibrant youth? I think I saw that in Star Trek once...
Mr C: I think I'm done, sending to you both in 5
Can tinker if need be
cheers sir
i'm off folks - should be back at some stage later on
:)
See ya Leigh
Today might be an LCLT night for some, details soon...
Don't say you weren't warned :D
hehe.
I can't believe there's so little stuff on the sad loss of Stuart Cable
[ex-Stereophonics drummer]
and ping: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/06/07/following-the-wwdc-2010-keynote-live/
roger. got some game results to produce anyway ;)
Very sad.
Hi all btw.
I know I have just arrived but I am disappearing again soon so I will miss all the shiny goodness
Hi Steven
Awesome highlights vid of the Texas IndyCar race on the front page of http://planet-irl.com/
I don't usually do adverts but this is a cracker.. Famous 'names' put into the Cantina scene in Star Wars
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Zd_khk6zXo&feature=player_embedded
Time for me to disappear.
Have fun all
See ya Steven
hi guys, how be we? i had a really bad hangover this morning, shouldn't have gone drinking when i did!!!
Hi TM
You may want to switch off Doohickey or join us here: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/06/07/following-the-wwdc-2010-keynote-live/
me neither.
call me a cynic, but i'm not impressed with this new iphone.
no optical zoom?
TM, you're in the daily
Christine, you were so so so right about the green innocent smoothie. it's awesome!
Oooh is that the kiwi, apple & lime one? I love it because it has no banana
Looks horrible though, right?
I am hooked.
mum just walked past and said 'eeeeeewwww' it doesn't look too appealing, but it's so yummy and refreshing!! i saw it in the supermarket today and had to try it! :)
Yay! I should be on commission :)
@bassano: sounds about right. least you get cable!!
Hiya guys
Hi Lukeh
We're drooling at Apple stuff
hello, dont look at the new iphone... you'll want one... ;)

Too late

Gooooooood evening :D
PING -->
The 2011 Formula 1 World Championship Grid: http://wp.me/pSi0N-bN
hi jon
Hi Jon
Just heard Simona de Silvestro has been officially cleared to drive at the next IndyCar race at Iowa on June 20th
:)
How are we all?
tired - you?
Hi Jon
Full of Apple love
[more than usual]
I;m in shock to be honest, one of my favourite musical personalities, Stuart Cable who used to be the stereophonics drummer, has unexpedectly passed away. :(
how are you jon?
That was so sad, hearing that today
He was fantastic
same, M40 was closed for a few junctions before mine so i had a 2 hour journey home, boo.
i know i heard on the radio :( really sad
im doing alright thanks, had a very good day :)
omg! how was Shov? and Bono??!!
Usually it's generally sad when I hear celebs passing away unexpectantly but I'm just gobsmacked by this. It's really saddened me :(
My desk = less than 10 metres from theres. :D
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in the words of Mr C...
*BOOM*
And what did you get up to?
did you speak to them? how were they?.. what did you say?... did you meet Nicola?... what about Jock?! ... did you have a nice day?... do they accept visitors?..
Madness.
i'm so excited. that has made my day.. and it isn't even my job!
I saw all of them, apart from Nicola, and had an epic day but honestly cant tell you what i did because i signed a confidentiality agreement and 90% of the stuff i did today was not for public knowledge.
im quite annoyed i cant tell anyone :(
Otherwise Darth will gitch'ya!
all you need to tell me is if you spoke to Shov and Bono.. you don't need to tell me what you said.... just.. they are real people! and you work so close to them! ohh.... this is too exciting. i'm very happy for you.
Did you warn them that the blade on top off the car is potentially lethal?
i felt that wouldnt be a good step on my first day ;) ive got a month left, theres still time
not a surprise to be totally honest
if you don't make friends with Shov and at least invite him to a spc meetup.. or just buy him a drink i will be sad. ;)
Shov and Rubens-shov (who's name ive forgotten) spent most of the day together, twas quite epic.
yeah im not surprised either, just annoying i cannae tell
Jock :) when i go to Spa.. i want a pic with Shov... just so you all know! :)
Ah , good plan... start small: paint job!
I feel the need to point out Laney Scott's latest SOOC shot
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ladylaney/4678864289/
it's stunning.
Gorrrrrgeous!
They didn't have any yellow marker pens anywhere, so i highlighted my work in yellow :)

I 've always had a sneaking suspicion that Williams are actually designing and manufacturing parts and weaponry for MI5 and the CIA, so I completely understand the confidentiality.
Mercedes are making parts for the Death Star
yes! Brawngp lives on in Brackley!! :)
They used them all up last year
It actually does, one of the benches in the restaurant is yellow
photo??
i suppose they don't still have a huge painting of JBs helmet over and on one of the doors :(
they have his car in my office :)
Does everyone there secretly hate schumacher?
mini car or Brawngp001?..
If the answer to that question was yes then i wouldnt know would i! :P
actual big car :)
OH....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...MY.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
seriously?!!?!?!?!
(hearts) them. sooooooooooo much.
in brawn colours!?
You are wise!
yup
oh and I have to walk pass Ross's office to go to the loo ;)
Di you call him Big Bear?
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
i knew they'd protect JB's car!!! YESS!!! :D this is the best.news.ever!!!!!
He wasn't in today!
In my imagination, he growls everytime someone passes!
ah awesome :D
Working for famous people must be really quite scary.
Sounds great though :)
when you walk past can you slip a print of this under his door?
i secretly hate your new job jon..
i love that you hate it even though you dont know what it is aha
i know it involves being in the same room as Shov and Bono.. and being near JBs winning car and ... just working for my fav team.. even if they have a silly owner now.
the only way i could be more envious is if JB still drove for them..
The last thing i shall say before i dig myself into a deep legal hole...I was searching for a picture today and found a picture of one of the machine shops with a computer that had JB's win as the desktop, made me smile

why couldn't you have got a job with another f1 team... i'm sssooooo jealous!!
jon, was wondering if you'd consider turning up for work in this:
http://www.cafepress.co.uk/sidepodcast.108656918
But just remember lou, this way he can tell them all about this great photographer he knows who will soon be at Farnham and who would love a summer job in their offices...
As much as i'd love too (i really would...hmm) I have to wear smart.
gutting
Make sure it's your last day
:)
I think it would be anyway ;)
Evning folks, take its safe to come out then...
You could have been here all along. There was a breakout and everything.
Yeah, you could have joined me in the LCLT :)
I'll take that into consideration next time.

Although I see you have all beaten me to it.
Hi RG
I saw your iPad tweet you know ;)
No idea what your talking about........
Denial is a wonderful amnesiac
It worked rather well too, when I was looking (was busy)
No doubt you guys have addressed the re-signing (unfortunately not the resigning) of Mark today...
Don't be a hater on Mark
Kimi's happy where he is ;)
It's just very very hard to find F1 so uninspiring...
I am really enjoying my rallying with Kimi but do regret that F1 is just a bit of a drag these days... and can't help missing the frisson that it used to give me...
I think the season's picking up.
Plus, it's Canada next!
Lou:
8 beautiful examples of what can be achieved with bokeh
Well I was in Barce, which I usually love...
And I am off to Canada...
So I'll see...
But I just couldn't be bothered to watch qualy and the race when I got back from Turkey which is a first...
I have no idea what a frisson is but it's a bit harsh on Mark (who I am sure has no idea what a frisson is either)...
Does Canada start at 6pm?
noun
a sudden strong feeling of excitement or fear; a thrill : a frisson of excitement.
I was going to have friends over for that evening... but seems like I can't :(
i love the tea cup one!!! and the one of the park :D awesome!
My BBC Cal says 5
You so looked that up ;)
Just as bad.. Catch the start, miss the rest. Stupid football.
My OS has an inbuilt dictionary.
Of course I did
[Though I did know, honest]
I am sure he's a very nice man...
Just not frisson material...
I found this a few minutes ago, might be useful for planning which games to watch
http://www.marca.com/deporte/futbol/mundial/sudafrica-2010/calendario-english.html
Really?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Be3-J9XtJCw
And that should be sooo F1...
It just isn't at the moment...
After turkey was the first time this season I felt it...
Nahh, its my teams presentation night, kinda have to be there.
That says it all....
Even Heikki and the horse was better than that...
Actually that's because the horse was so good... even though Heikki wasn't....
Can I just check who is doing the Le Mans guest posts, was there anyone other than Alia and I? We're sharing on something (ought to start that soon..).
Serbia vs Ghana doesn't grab them then..
Germany vs Australia?
last i heard, you and alia were sharing qually duties and christine and i were handling race threads. not sure which bits you're sharing though?
Well it is Germany.
I have no idea what I'm doing, we sort of left it and Wednesday is suddenly approaching out of nowhere.
we can ask alia, she was off to research some driver profiles i think?
@neweyfacts:
Adrian Newey only owns two pairs of shoes. He calls them his Primes and Options.
I will do shortly
:D im loving them at the moment
:D
Yeah, great aren't they
Planes can't take off with Newey on board. He's got too much downforce
Adrian Newey found a Higgs boson down the back of his sofa
Adrian Newey drinks RedBull when he wants to relax and calm down
Adrian Newey has modified his pet cat Tinkerbell for improved downforce and straight-line stability
Adrian Newey has not had a single drink since the refuelling ban was introduced.
:D
Adrian Newey can do a wheelie on a unicycle
Adrian Newey does not sleep. He waits
Awesome
Adrian Newey is Amy?
No, but that one is a Chuck Norris one isn't it?
I think so, yes
It is, it should be "Adrain Newey does not sleep. He draws" or something like that :)
surely a tedkravitz fact too?
It all started with Chuck
We need to start a twitter account for that too...
i had to google Chuck Norris...spc is so educational.
Isn't there one?
was a hashtag
You don't google Chuck Norris, he lets you google him
Has anyone maged to successfully download all of the Red Bull podcast for Turkey?
yep.
all 13:36 mins of it..
Mine stoppped at 10.6mb and won't proceed
Error 410 [the generic one I think]
good night, sweet dreams of iPhones ;)
Night mate.
See ya Mr Goat
I have no idea what I'm doing, we sort of left it and Wednesday is suddenly approaching out of nowhere.
we can ask alia, she was off to research some driver profiles i think? {Comment #401}
I'm currently in a mad dash trying to compile said research. I really must learn to be more organised!
see ya
bye
What do you need from me?
adios
don't kill yourself over it alia, really wasn't meant to be hassle.
Agreed, we only need to give the top contenders and some notables elsewhere, and only short pieces at that.
Another way of doing it is to pick a few contenders from each class
is everybody having a good day? i feel i've neglected the comments.
Thank you Sidepodcast for once again being my 'go to' site for everything that really matters.
I couldn't face getting up early so reading the special thread from bassano has helped me catch up in under 30 mins.
I must go watch the video on apple.com and have some breakfast. Talk again soon
i had a great day :) how was mr c's day?
hehehe! my day has been awesome. i made a new friend and i feel like i need to hug you for the aside with joe podcast btw (i did leave a comment).
Um, no not really. Not that it was bad, just... meh
grrrrrrrr
;)
Am getting worried about these exams.... eek.
And I'm off, staying off till the last one this week, so catch you all Thursday evening. byee.
I felt it was my duty ;)
best of luck RG! i have one on thursday too! eeeek! night!
See ya RG.
Good luck
Good luck
i can imagine. am wary of discussing it lest you get into trouble. keep it up though, we're expecting great things :)
Byeee RG
booo. plans for tonight?
bye rg!
What do you need from me? {Comment #433}
If I'm doing the combining at my end rather than yours (I don't think we ever got round to deciding that), I could do with the information about the teams and drivers which don't do Le Mans Series (mostly they're in the American Le Mans Series, which I haven't got into yet). Otherwise I need to hurry up and get this done before I manage to distract myself (I've got at least 2 hours of good thinking energy left today, so this is a good time for me to be doing stuff).
Boring day at work is all (and a boss that is increasingly frustrating).
So I did my game results but I'm a bit bored of that too :) Did that while watching the 2009 GP2 Monaco, which wasn't spectacular but I'm too stubborn to stop a race once I've got halfway in..
Couple of episodes of The Wire coming up in a while.
don't kill yourself over it alia, really wasn't meant to be hassle. {Comment #435}
It's not hassle. My lack of organisation skills is hassle and I need to fix that quick (by Thursday at the latest because I've got an interview for a job that will require some). If I've got to fix it by Thursday, I might as well get my act together now...
Series 2 any good?
I don't think there's many from the ALMS we'll need to worry about, very depleted field this year. Highcroft in LMP2 and the Corvettes and Risi Ferrari in GT2.
I don't think there's many from the ALMS we'll need to worry about, very depleted field this year. Highcroft in LMP2 and the Corvettes and Risi Ferrari in GT2. {Comment #457}
So if you do those and I send the LMS ones (with gaps for the non-LMS ones because that's how the document I did is formatted) over to you tonight, then that should be all the profiles done for tonight, which should help matters.
Or at least all the ones that are going to matter ;)
I'm out on a work social. Free booze... Sadly i'm Lost
I'm on 6 of 12 and there was a lot of setting-up, it is getting going now though. I like it, find it interesting and I like that it isn't the usual 22-24 for a US series. Bit hard to follow with all the slang though but worth sticking with it.
lost?
Last time I was Lost you fixed it. Save me!?!
Was every door you kicked locked?
What about every river that you tried to cross?
I'm just waiting till the shine wears off.
Nick!!!! you need to go and find Alison!!!
i.. don't know where you are at the moment.. and er... don't know where you need to get to.... how else can i help? :)
Okay no problem.
I think for SPC all we need to really think about are Audi, Peugeot, Mansell (won't be in contention but he's Nige!), Rebellion, Aston Martin.
Then maybe a paragraph on the other classes.
I want to be careful that it isn't too long, I found with the Indy 500 post that it made Doohickey thread switching a problem.
Or maybe two on each. Or a line per car. We'll have to see what works.
Bearing in mind we also have to explain qualifying..
Evening all
Did Apple say anything interesting?
I think we need clues to help you Alison
helloo!!
they have a new phone apparently.. ;)
Is it the one that was 'left' in a bar?
i can't remember... Mr C or Bassano will know..
At least it was worth watching for the Apple fans if there was something new released.
the new iphone is proof steve jobs is missing spc too though, i think he's a lurker and knows the only way to reverse the downshifting is to bring out this super duper mobile movie editor/beautiful phone... :)
:D
I'm found! :D Nick can come look for me if he wants though...
there is a prison museum in London?! how odd.
yaaay!! seee i knew the comments could help ;) aww
Is he back in the good books already?
:)
it was, but it means good things for video podcasting. very good things.
So you need to make video podcasts to try it out then.
i know a great venue for their first attempt... a lovely motorsport festival in the heart of the countryside... :)
sore subject. i have three hours of hd footage from several years ago.
christine in a helicopter too.
Looks like the Red Bull Energy Station has been repurposed for this week
http://www.lemans.org/iframes/24hdumans/2010/galleries_photos/jours/avant_course/pages/01052010-VSC_7906.jpg.html
i recall that happening last year, although i never saw a pic of it.
ahhhhh... i remember seeing a nice spc diaries though?... maybe the spa meetup? ;)
Nick doesn't know what bad books are...
i'm trying to think of a nice comment here...
how does he not know what they are?..
Tomorrow's lunch: made
Stubbly face: shaved
It's time for bed
Night all
Was that a Haiku? :)
[not here]
I was struggling to come up with a suitable reply but I assume the point is that when he is in the bad books he just doesn't notice or care. Quite how that gets him out of them I don't know because I would have thought that would get him in a lot deeper
WHat's with the early nights? You are normally arriving now?
Good night
Earlies, up at 5am
Ouch.
night Bassano!
eshhh, i thought my 6.30 was bad :( night Bassano
Dear Sidepodcast. Thankyou for the break out. You know how to keep a daily trawling Amy sane. Love, Amy.
night
you have an incredible job though. so no complaining! :)
Doing that before bed is a good idea, maybe I can cut down my morning times ever more
Am I sending these profiles to Christine or does Pat have an e-mail she'd prefer me to use?
I'm trying to cut down on over-snacking and beer, to lose weight and save money. Now feeling a bit light headed. Noodles are calling me.
I love that you think Pat is a woman. That makes me smile ALOT

Whoops! Sorry about that!
*cringes*
I'm not sure the best way to go. Send them to me at toomuchracing at gmail.com and I'll do the other ones in a similar vein and work them into a post. Does that work or is there more to add?
We've met too, that's worrying
Chandhok was in Brackley
http://twitpic.com/1ujhzt
everyone's in brackley but me :(
Gutted i missed it, saw the adverts last week. That High street is a very long downhill, it would have been awesome

I think that'll work.
Email sent with thanks :)
And me and possibly Alison but since she is lost she could be there
How about Brockley?
Is that Welsh for Brackley?
I hear they have lots of miniature trees.
We saw it on the way to Giggles Goodwood last week, one letter away we were from awesomeness
You know how there was a Le Mans Series race at Spa and that Franck Montagny had to do a lot of the driving? Well I had a look at the live timing screen for it today and it reckons the 70% quoted by numerous sites at the time was an understatement.
Quite sure i'm not in brackley
I still don't understand why he did the majority of the driving when he had broken ribs
oh i'd totally forgotten about that...
Mr. C!!! Got my tickets for "An Audience with Joe" and it is exactly as you said, you are e-mailed tickets to print.
but you're in melbourne.. that's an awesome place....
Lukeh is mean.. he made me think about italy and then i started listing all the places in italy i wanted to go to.. and then it kinda branched out into all the places i want to visit ever.. and now i feel like i have to travel..
yay, good to hear joe. you MUST tell us what it's like.
im not mean :(
I still don't understand why he did the majority of the driving when he had broken ribs {Comment #519}
Me neither. Still, 70% makes more sense than the 100% being claimed now!
There have been a few people on here in the last couple of days who are going to the race. I think they were Bert, Emilio and Lady Snowcat. I don't know which of them are going to see Joe but I know some of them.
maybe it's a good thing i don't have much money i can easily access.. and i have exams.. if not i think i'd be tempted to turn up at the airport tomorrow and find a flight to italy...
Received, thanks :)
Will do, I'm taking a camcorder, so when I get home I should be able to send you some clips of the vintage race...and the current (F1) race cars. I'll try and leave a voice mail, as long as you don't mind slurred speech
I am going to see if they will accept the picture on my phone! Viva la technologia!
excellent, will do a blog post this week and see if we can organise meetup.
Chicken noodle soup, lovely
:)
He certainly didn't finish the race because I remember mentioning the 70% with a few laps to go and he was not in the car then
if your name is on the list you should be allowed in. i don't think i ever showed my ticket. Emma just saw me, asked for my name and directed me in.. :)
v.much appreciated
I should be so lucky that Emma will be there! (Here, that is)
one day, i will take a spontaneous trip to italy...
it's thoughts like this that make me wonder if i should have taken a gap year..
That would be great, the budweiser beergarden would be a good place, or hanging with Joe
noted, i shall add that to the post.
Yes come to italy. Rome between september 5th and 9th or milan between 9th and 12th are particularly good, so i've heard.
actually, do you have an address?
induction week at uni starts 13th september... i'm sure they wouldn't mind if i was a bit late cause i was in italy..
oooohhhhh it's such a good thing i don't have enough money :)
Not really, it's in the center of the track, usually with loud rock bands and scantily clad Bud girls. I'll keep thinking though
oh, right. easy to find. do you need passes to get there?
No, it's free...except for the beer. Also there's a garage open house on thurs. I'm thinking that to ID ourselves we wear stuff from now-defunct F1 teams. I have both Honda and Minardi mechanic shirts
You could easily make it back by the 13th, its not the other side of the world for you :D i would be so poor if I lived in England. Easyjet + europe being right there = good times
hehe, i like it. what sort of time on thursday?
09:00 to 12:00
0900-1200. They load you on busses and take you to pit out, along the way seeing all the ground hogs.
stop giving me ideas!!! i'm now looking on the easyjet site! ...
brilliant. i'll add that to the post.
you heading that way too bert?
There is a rumour going around melbourne that our grand prix won't have a thursday next year :(
if weekends are shortened to two days, no-one will. it'll be friday instead.
no thursday? :( as in no chance to meet drivers? :(
Goodwood stole it
A 2 day weekend would suck here, thats HALF what i'm used to.
no. it's three days. two days of racing plus friday meet and greet thingy.
Gotta shoot off, adios peeps
night jon.
lou?
night jon! have fun tomorrow!
Still lame. Shorter weekends are probably great for watching on tv but :( for actually going to. I think i should tell bernie which races i plan on attending and then he can just shorten the rest of them
it may not happen, but they are necessary if we have a twenty race calendar.
who actually wants a 20 race calender? it would be awful!
it may not happen, but they are necessary if we have a twenty race calendar. {Comment #565}
Please remind me why we need a 20-race calender?
bernie has more races than there are room for.
Because bernie wants to go loco down in aca pulco
Coming soon - the Aca pulco GP
Ah well, shorter weekend = less to blog about which means I might actually manage to write about it :D
i'm 100% against it. but we want to race on brilliant tracks like canada and spa, while bernie wants the money from bahrain and abu dhabi.
but.. that shouldn't happen.
Evening all. How is everyone this evening?
Anything can happen in Formula 1, and it usually does.
#blamemurray
Doing well and you?
squire
money talks and bernie walks.
hello!
bernie has more races than there are room for. {Comment #568}
Where? Korea's probably going to get cancelled due to the war bubbling over, last I heard China was about to lose its race and that's based on a calender that's already only got 19 races. Even with India joining in, that's still only 18 races for 2010 and 20 only arriving in 2013 when the US and Vatican Grands Prix are in (assuming all other races keep their contracts).
Evening all. How is everyone this evening? {Comment #573}
Fine, thank you :)
Maybe Bernie got a hold of the Twit GP from Moto GP the other week and is looking for a country called Twit.
That or we're going to have a Top Gear race on the Ejurjonsigoogle Volcano in Iceland...
korea isn't going to vanish though. worst case it'll be delayed a year.
china is in for the long haul aren't they? and then there's russia. they are more too. lemmie think.
Speaking of new races, I hope Austin just copies the A-1 ring, I loved that track. I cringed when I heard they were talking to Tilke to design
bernie is silly. the races are great.. but Fp fridays are awesome too! the thought of only 2 days in monaco rather than 3 days of track events makes me sad..
why did they have to mess with the old system. f1 seemed okay when i started following it... no silly abu dhabi gp.. a canadian gp, 1 spanish gp.. heck there was even mid season testing at silverstone! it was good times! (except the honda bit.. that was bad times)..
I only found out the other day Tilke designed the A1 Ring. Stunned I was.
eh?
Time has not been kind to his ideas
i agree on all counts. i think the answer is "money".
Tilke rebuilt the A1 ring from the old osterreichring
korea isn't going to vanish though. worst case it'll be delayed a year.
china is in for the long haul aren't they? and then there's russia. they are more too. lemmie think. {Comment #582}
If Korea starts fighting properly, there's no telling when or if the country will be in a condition to host the race. Nobody knows the true strength of the respective militaries and both have a superpower in their corner.
Where did you read China was in for the long haul? As for Russia, they're on at least attempt 4 at hosting a race - I refuse to assume their presence until they have a calender spot.
the track is sinking.. they can't turn up to find there is no track. mother nature says no to a chinese gp! ;)
didn't know that.
I was gobsmacked when I found out. I thought his first f1 track was Malaysia.
A1 Ring is really very good too.
I'm fine thanks. Everyone excited about the new iPhone then? :D
money sucks!! everything was fine and dandy in 2006, we had tyre wars, Alonso showing Schumi up, Jenson won, no THAT woman... a nice calender, Ant driving, SPC starting.. it was a good year for f1.
I'm off for a while..have to plan my packing job for Canada. I'll talk tommorow when I'm all packed. See ya
good points. all of them.
cheers joe.
i like imovie a lot.
*shakes fist at Bernie*
see ya!
we'll see, at the moment it's still on and it has a place on the calendar next year.
The contract is ongoing here, we can't have contracts for more than five years, we renew it and it will go on".

forgot to sort tickets. will do tomorrow.

Bernie says he can't have a contract for more than 5 years. Well he has a contract with at least one of his other circuits that is substantially longer than that, which tends to refute his statement.
oh i see. at the moment though, he has a rather full calendar for 2011. which is why i'm assuming there comes the need for shorter weekends.
oh i see. at the moment though, he has a rather full calendar for 2011. which is why i'm assuming there comes the need for shorter weekends. {Comment #609}
It's not full if China's not there (or Korea, but as you said we need to see if they're even fighting at that time of the year), and Bernie's words have only convinced me it won't be - when he speaks nonsense reassurance, it's usually because he wants us to feel something about a situation we should be thinking the opposite about.
well no that is true. but it's also not full is silverstone isn't there. it's not full if monza isn't there. but that's a silly argument isn't it? at the moment, we have no information to suggest either way and seeing as bernie hasn't said no, we assume it still is. no?
but it's also not full is silverstone isn't there. it's not full if monza isn't there. but that's a silly argument isn't it? {Comment #611}
It's not silly because the way Bernie's talking and the lack of contract China has at the moment suggests there's a very real chance it won't be on the calender. Removing Silverstone or Monza would take either some spectacular force majuere or some serious contract-breaking.
i see. well your definition of a not-full calendar is different from mine then :)
in the meantime, it would appear that discussions about reducing the length of an f1 weekend are ongoing. which is likely only a necessary action if the calendar is extended unfavourably in length.
