W-W-W-W-Wed, W-W-W-Wednesday!
Hey everybody, it’s Gavin having a go a writing the daily again. Random fact for you, 14 years ago today my family landed in NZ after emigrating there. It was the start of an awesome adventure, but that's for another blog post I think...
I do hope you enjoyed the football last night. Proper men, liquid football, jumpers for goalposts. He tried to walk it in during the second half. What about that dodgy decision by the ref? He was clearly offside. However, it was a game of two halves and football was the winner on the day.
(By the way, I'm writing this post before the game starts!)
Right then, have we got some links for you? Of course we have...
- Karun Chandhok is an F1 driver, a lovely bloke and a proper F1 fan. Here's his column from the Daily Telegraph about his Goodwood Experience.
- Speaking of Goodwood Experiences, Lukeh has posted three albums of great pics, along with PatW. I'm so jealous ;)
- In circuit news, TilKorea has announced it is on schedule (again!) and Di Licious likes the new Silverstone layout, but thinks there may not be so many overtaking moves...
- Damon Hill has been stirring the pot about the McLaren drivers, reckoning things will 'boil over' this weekend at Silverstone. Both drivers have shrugged this off. See, I don't think this will happen either - when they make great videos like this one, they clearly show that they like and respect each other. It will be a tough but fair fight between them, I reckon.
- Dank has been busy blogging again, offering tips to those going to Silverstone, and a retrospective of Lewis Hamilton's brilliant win in 2008.
So that's it for another day. Stay tuned for the obligatory World Cup post later, tonight's game between Spain and Germany looks to be a cracker!
Now we are!
hi wednesday, not here, still coding. i approve of blogging sporting events before they happen gavin.
I'm sure I like my Wednesday's on delay - Wednesday always seemed more punctual than the other weekdays
;)
Nice Daily, Gavin.
PING - Game results http://toomuchracing.com/2010/07/07/tmr-game-week-24/
Hello all. Mr C will be pleased to know that, since he didn't kill him, Ringo is 70 today :)
Question: (serious question, not sarcastic as it could be read..)
What do Motorsport journalists do over a weekend?
Just sent off e-mails to various management companies. All I have to do now is wait for them to not get back to me...
They journalise?
Useful Mr Leigh, useful ;)
I know they write race reports, do interviews and sometimes do some editorial type pieces, but is there anything else ive missed?
Hey Jon,
Did you get your details worked out for Silverstone yet?
Which details specfically?
General stuff - I suppose where you can be at specific times and stuff. I assume yours is just a junior formula pass, right?
Yeah it is, Friday i'm taking reasonably relaxed i think to get my bearings a bit, so other than GP2/GP3 practice/quali i can be anywhere!
I would only add to that the networking. I would imagine a large part of their job is establishing and maintaining relationships to enable them to do obtain the information they need to do the other things you mention.
ah yes, very good point
Hello all. I have spent yet another day without a voice..
hi lou,
no shouting, i assume? i lost my voice a while back - not pleasant
Hi lou, sorry about the voice, I'm sure it will recover soon.
PHEW!
*conspiracy*
...but he still won't sign any autographs
Leigh, looks like I'm going to be at Silverstone Friday too. Will tweet when I arrive.
huh?
I won't have access to tweet, but give me an idea where you will be.
oooh. the videos a treat.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpd24yVy5C4
Do you not remember his no autographs thing?
not a clue. i don't blame him though, they only end on ebay.
photos of stars holding up banners is the new cool.
Ok. I'm not really sure what's happening yet, only found out today that my friend has a couple of tickets from a marshal. :)
Sweet deal
Wait... are you sure you haven't just been roped into flag stand duties..?
;)
at one point my fellow techs gave me a microphone so we could have a conversation.. I miss talking and my voice
i am sure he has already signed enough for one lifetime, the dude used to sign absolutely everything!
ps please forgive the lateness of my reply ;)
its like the Simpsons....
But Amy instead.
Epic
Hi, hope it gets better soon
:D
Final e-mail sent. That's me done for Tuesday busy busy wise
I wasn't sure how to cover Goodwood on my blog, so based on something Lukeh said earlier about missing the Cathedral paddock I'm starting there. Post is written, working on photos but running out of time for this evening.
i'd write and tell him i support his stance...
the ringo episode is one of my all time favourtes. i might watch it tonight in honour of his birthday
ooh. lou, how did you find lightroom?
haven't tried it yet :(
Em wants me to sleep and we are getting her gap year sorted tomorrow, but am planning to get my act together with pics soon! :)
Night all xx
off to bed too - night folks
:)
It seems it's a trend, good night everyone who's left
what did i say?
I go for 5 minutes and everybody runs off!
I finished it!
...and everyone's gone
PING - Goodwood 2010: Cathedral Paddock (with video)

In terms of car delay...how long are we talking about for Silverstone? an hour?
What's car delay?
what time, what route, and in or out? we one missed the whole of fp1, so more than an hour
Oh, queuing to get in?
M40-A34 and in. Would usually take an hour.
For example; GP3 quali starts at 8.45 Saturday, so i'd want to be in by 8.20, leaving home at 7 usually. Are we talking leaving at 6?
yeahhh, i know its going to be grim but i want to know how grim
Haven't the foggiest, I've never been for the GP weekend.
With all the stuff done that I wanted to get done, I'm going to bed, later than planned but happy it is done :)
i mean A43
that's earlier than i've ever been, so no idea. 6am and you'll be sure to be there though.
night
errrghhhh. ta
ping: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/07/07/revamping-voting/
help! is on tv. hello young ringo, happy birthday!
Morning :)
It seems that some researchers have figured out that if a load of people tweet about a movie before it's released then it earns more money at the box office: http://www.mrscienceshow.com/2010/05/ep-130-using-twitter-to-predict-movie.html
Internet buzz didn't help snakes on a plane! Perhaps the lack of twitter back then was the issue. I might watch it tonight after I watch Ringo on the Simpsons :D
Morning.
Who's on World Cup duty today?
morning everyone,
what goes on?
Morning, turns out Silverstone are bullies. They won't let me buy a camping ticket because I don't have a 3-day-ticket, but I do...kinda
Kinda? I do understand where they're coming from - they would want to maximize the land and make sure they don't have vacancies over the weekend.
It's a press pass, so it's not an official ticket. I'll be there for all 3 days, just not as a general admissions person and so the woman said that she couldn't guarentee that I'd be let onto the site
Morning
That sucks monkeyballs - if I were you Jon, I'd fight the power!!
I'm very annoyed, you can camp for £35 from thursday to monday, but a parking ticket for 3 days is £35 plus £35 for petrol to and from where I'd be staying (if i wasnt camping), aswell as having to get up stupidly early and sit in hours of traffic.
boo
I'm taking the easy way out and getting a stupidly early train
Only Silverstone would do that!
how are you getting from the station to the track?
any other press people you know going? maybe you can get some help?
I knows no-one else going, the lady from Silverstone was quite adament that anything but a 3-day ticket wouldn't let me into the camping area
There's a bus service running from Northamptonshire station to the circuit - £14 return I believe
ah ok, wondered if there might be!
yow.
It's a bummer of an extra cost for the three days though - does anyone know how far it is from Northamptonshire station to the circuit itself?
What's the name of that racing driver? Nicky someone. Runs an airline... Nicky?
12 and a bit miles
Lauda
Niki Lauda. Used to own Lauda Air. Sold it years ago.
I SAID WHAT'S THE NAME OF THAT RACING DRIVER????
Morning everyone :)
Not sure you deserve a greeting after that! :)
A joke that really only should ever be attempted out loud rather than written down.
Pardon?? I can't hear you :P
It took me a while to get that...
:D Morning Christine and Alex.
I know... But I was very excited to have been reminded of that very old joke from my school days this morning and I couldn't wait.
It's an awful joke Alex....
(but well done anyway)
;)
Oh, goodness me, Alex. :P
The fun thing will be to see if any of the comment trawlers reply to the initial question throughout the day...
:D
New Lewis and Jenson video... This time with Scalextric... Love the Webber comment:
http://mclaren.com/home
I can think of only one person who might do that. Otherwise, nah. We reacted too much. :D
Can I just say - this is such a faaaar cry from Lewis flying in his racing suit in Turkey (2008, was it?). McLaren's PR has improved by leaps and bounds this year.
Probably no coincidence that this is also the first year that Anthony isn't managing Lewis...
Morning guys, how are we today?
Good... You?
Still a bit icky after yesterday evening but all in all not too bad. I am excited that the updated Monkey Island 2 is going to be released today though so yay :)
For iPhone?
I think the iPhone/iPod/iPad/iEverythingElseLife is out today too as they announced it yesterday as a surprise :)
But I'm getting the one on the 360... and maybe the iPod one but shh, I'm allowed to own it twice ;)
I think I have always preferred Monkey Island 2 to 1 for some reason
Are they available on PC or Wii?
Can't find it on Play or Amazon... I loved it on the old Amiga :)
PC definitely but sadly no Wii :(
PC game will be avilable on Steam though. I guess you could find the old games as abandonware somewhere, these are the same games but with re-drawn HD graphics and added voices and extras.
Ah ok, I shall investigate and get one or the other! Thanks.
http://www.formula1.com/news/interviews/2010/7/10988.html
Bernie and Ron in conversation. Very interesting.
Q: What was the problem between Hamilton and Alonso?
RD: It was very simple - Alonso didn’t expect Hamilton to be that competitive in his first year. He told me at the beginning that it was my decision to sign a rookie like Hamilton, but that it could cost me the constructors’ championship. Fernando was calculating everything, but not that Lewis would challenge him. That affected him massively.
It sure did cost them the WCC - but not for the reasons either had in mind...
I'm still very confused as to why Mclaren scored no constructors points in Hungary. It dosen't matter overall because they lost all of them, but F1.com says;
Note - McLaren scored no constructors' points as penalty for Alonso impeding Hamilton during qualifying.
Which I don't quite understand. Why do Mclaren loose points for Alonsos issue?
Mosley:
Anything that happens normally, normally doesn't happen happen in normal circumstances
The stewards didn't believe that McLaren intentionally held Alonso in the pits, which is what Ron claimed.
Ah so Ron stood up for Alonso. I don't believe him either! Especially given how angry he was after.
I miss Max :-)
Careful now
Is there a football expert around?
I'm no expert but I can try and help
Hello everyone! I almost forgot there is WRC this week too. Come on Kimi!
oooohh. What's up?
It's right that you say a player has one foot better than the other, isn't it?
Which is Forlans?
helloooo
Helloooooooooo loooooooooooooooou!
Forlan is right footed but can shoot with both
Hiya :)
Yes for most. Diego Forlan is one of a special few who is almost as good with both.
Ah ha. But... it would not be wrong to say he has a fabulous right foot?
Hello :D
Right , my plan for Friday is a little annoying now. London to Banbury on the train, then get a bus from Banbury to Silverstone, then Silverstone to Paulerspury via Northampton, then to Milton Keynes for the last train... ughhh
I would say his right foot is of a fabulous nature but you could also say his left foot is able to achieve such fabulorisity as well.
you're starting to worry me with all this football love... :)
Two seconds...
Will that mean missing the end of Joe's talk?
(I nearly said 'the end of Joe' which is a bit dramatic..)
Ping: http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/07/07/ode-to-forlan/
:D
hehe! :)
Heeeeeeeh!
no!
Not really - the reason I'm looking at Milton Keynes is because the last train is at 12.04, whereas both Northamptonshire and Banbury stations finish before midnight
Going from Banbury to Paulersbury looks painful and expensive as I'd have to taxi it
Darn it. You arrived just at the wrong time.
I didn't realise you were in love with a man who wears a headband!
^fixed
Pshaw, I'm not in love with him. Eh-hem.
joe went to the mac store to buy a power pack and came out with a whole new laptop: http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2010/07/07/back-in-action/
:)
Oooh I wish I could do that...
My head, my aching aching head :(
Case in point: iheartforlan.com is still available to register so Christine can't be that obsessed yet ;)
heehee. Just you wait. There is one more match for her to fall even more in love.
Happens to the best of us!
Franck will be jealous !
Christine... I saw this list and it reminded me of the lists that you sometimes do on Smarterthanyouraverage... This one is geeky pillows: http://www.asylum.co.uk/2010/07/07/gekky-pillows-your-go-to-guide-for-nerdy-snuggly-times/
The short answer is - they shouldn't have. I fully agreed with the Alonso penalty, but not with the McLaren penalty. It was Alonso's decision to impede Hamilton, not McLaren's.
That said, people at the time still thought that the FIA was favoring Ferrari...
He instantly regretted that the following morning. :D
Oooh, cool!
The inflatable tie so you can sleep through boring meetings is genius:

Hear hear!
curse you casual-wear office!
Christine, left a comment on your post that hasn't published (yet). :)
Wow... Remote control cushions sound good: http://www.didierandnicholas.com/
I like the Ctrl Alt Del ones :D
Ah-ha, got it.
Wordpress spam blocker seems to be over-enthusiastic all of a sudden.
I like the Mario hat cushion, although I think I prefer Luigi's.
hehe... @teamworkf1 just tweeted forlan a certain poem.
Nooooooooooooooooo.
i may have reweeted it.
#oops
I just went to see Toy Story 3. We couldn't find any kids to take, so had to take teenagers.
No better time than now to be famous in Uruguay. :D
I love these, want some!
Just for curiosity's sake I checked the price to send the Mario and Luigi cushions to the UK on Amazon. $31.90 = £21.83 for the cushions plus £25.98 for delivery. If I hadn't just spent money in Ikea...
I've seen some '1UP' ones somewhere too.
His twitter account is @diegoforlan21 just so you know ;)
:D They were probably kids when it first came out anyway.
7, not 21.
Oops, it's 7 not 21. I am timesing it by 3.
'tis true!
Twitter is very silly.
course.
But isn't it meant to be very silly?
i love that 24 hours after we learn rob is a technophone, someone else gets a poem.
BBC are adding a driver tracker to the online stuff, according to Chairman Allen
http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2010/07/bbc-to-introduce-driver-tracker-to-live-online-f1-coverage/
These are unrelated incidents.
oooooh!
noted.

iPhones, who needs em.
Hey folks.
Hello.
:D
that's a good point now. wonder if it'll force a price change?
Although it doesn't look quite so... finished.
Not a chance

technophone? http://www.rigpix.com/mobphoneana/technophone_pc1071.jpg
ooh nice
http://current.com/1stp84c
heheheh! Awesome.
I have just looked back to catch up with the Rob interview from yesterday as I felt I was out of my depth (I don't mean I listened to the interview just that I went back to the comments)
First: you guys talking about Robin Hood on the same thread was very confusing for my searching ability
Second: I have a question for Rob's next interview... Does he favour the C60 or the C90?
?
go!
I went back to yesterday's thread and Ctrl+F'd on the page to find the word "rob" then I realised that there were lots of words that contained the word "rob" so I searched for "Rob" and then it found "Robin Hood". And then I had to search for "Rob "... Complicated times.
ahh. that also fails because i was typing:
smedley: "says x, y, z"
One poll finishes, another jumps right back into its place: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/07/07/can-ferrari-win-before-the-summer-break/
Beat that, Kubica.
:)
You've pretty much ensured that Ferrari will win this weekend. Well done. :P :D
i'm very sad that homepage heikki is no more :(
http://twitpic.com/236knv
Wooooooah.
.... o.O
It's Rubens and The Stig!!
okayyy.
At least we know Rubens isn't the Stig ;)
:D
I dunno...
:P
Downshifting...? :)
Joe's school report as we reach the halfway point in the season:
http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2010/07/07/an-assessment-at-half-time/
I would like Homepage Heikki to be a thing like the random "Always in your aural slipstream" or whatever where sometimes at random you'd get a homepage Heikki sometimes
I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
My newsletter?
its an Amy way of saying "I agree with your idea" :D
got you (I think)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXesMkAYh44 :D
:)
hehehe :D
More Stigness: http://twitpic.com/236qft
Rubens Barrichello is actually giving The Stig tips
#rubensfact
I might have to actually watch that episode :D
They must've not shown the episode to Rubens when The Stig 'took his helmet off' ;)
Haha... Was just in the iTunes store and suddenly remembered that I needed to buy U Can't Touch This for the U show... This is the top review on the store:
"Everybody knows and loves this song. If you don't I would highly recommend going into a mental asylum. PEACE"
Fair play, they make a good point :)
That song is ALWAYS on my party mix ;)
In fact, I was listening to it about 10 minutes ago on shuffle. Random!
Or The Stig is giving Rubens tips... :D
But that will be EPIC on Sunday night. :)
His visor is up!
:)
hehe!
nooooooooo :'(
Hammer time
i know. maybe we could put it back up on monday :)
that would make me feel better :)
New idea: Sticky thread. Stays at the top until you tell it not to.
Afternoon all, what day was rob on Lisa's show?
we could sneakily put together a best-of goodwood pictures round-up post and he could be there again on merit.
We did do something like that last year.
#needsmorecatherine
we have have exactly that. i just changed the sticky to the ferrari post. and then realised it made me sad.
we did? ace, that's a precedent. lou?
when I blog about goodwood and finish editing I'm sure I could put together a top ten moments post with pics.. :)
http://sidepodcast.com/2009/07/18/goodwood-roundup/
i've seen pat's picture of her. lou is teasing us.
brilliant. even has a picture from lou :)
change it back :)
I liked that she was wearing a dress I've seen her in before, like a normal person.
the moment I edit my pics I'll link it to Amy :)
ooh that's cool! I remember that
are you asking for y to write it or get my pics done? Lol
Jaime Alguersuari is only a few months out of kindergarten (in terms of his age) but he is driving like a veteran. He has done very well this year and as he learns more we expect to see him move into a better car. A man worth watching.
he is?
pics please.
I like watching him. #cougar
I think so - I think he's been excellent this year
you can't be a cougar that young. :P
he has?
Yep
Rubbish car holding Schuey up on a few occations, he's been excellent
Yeah I think he is.
he is doing better this year - he's held his own against buemi, beating him occasionally, but he hasn't exactly blown him away, either. i have yet to be fully convinced, but i am keeping an eye on him.
fair enough. must pay closer attention.
He's better than he was last year
If we're using Schumi as a barometer, Jaime may have kept him back, but Buemi actually passed him for position in Canada. :)
Driving around the outside of Hulk at Malaysia and one other race too; admittedly, if he his qualifying was a little better, he could battle with the Force India's
also from joe: Jarno Trulli is a moody fellow.
he must of asked for an autograph too.
he was moody when I DIDN'T ask him. You just can't win!
will get them on flickr asap :)
*hides from comments and marches off*
arrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!! He makes me so angry!!! Grrr trulli
sounds a bit like Kobayashi, then. :)
I'd rate him much better than Kobayashi
Really? I'd rate Kobayashi higher than him. Right now, anyway.
trulliometer was low that day, clearly. and the day amy met him. and...
What you need to do is have a bit of a relax to forget the silly man. Can I suggest a relaxing uploading of goodwood photos with nearly 3 hours of music and chit chat in the form of Giggles Radio: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/07/04/live-giggles-radio-s/
You did get a song dedicated to you and everything.
wotcha everybody :)
Here is Rubens with Harry Potter or someone out of Harry Potter
http://twitpic.com/237794
you played coldplay didn't you :(
hehe i have stolen my desk back from em so i can do some pic editing as she is writing her CV and things... we're getting her sorted for her gap year. the future is scary :)
Wotcha!
All I know about him is hes Rupert Grint and supports Spurs. And thats how I know him.
Hey emily
that's as good a caption competition as you could ever find.
hehehe gotta love Ron! :)
I did... I had promised you that I would on this show ages ago.
and things... yes.
hi em!
Can anyone tell me what 'SIARPC' stands for? I'm a bit confused.
one day we will have to introduce you to the beauty of google.com.
"That's the stig? He looked a lot taller in his racesuit and helmet"
i forgot you promised.. hehehe :D i shall listen :)
hehe well we've written all the stuff to send away to apply for work experience and volunteering. tis actually very fun. :)
Star in A Reasonably Priced Car ;)
volunteering other people? too right.
:D
ah yes, not sure why i didnt think of that. i assumed it was some wierd shorterend version of a sentance that id missed...but clearly not
it's the sidepodway :)
yes. i'm volunteering that someone else should do all the hard work while i get a nice comfy chair and a cup of tea...or something. :)
i had no idea either. but my default response to anything googlable, is to google it
You find the funniest people in the Laura Ashley carpark before the Summer Sales.
Just like I did with the Silverstone timetable :)
ah yes. we're here all day, happy to help tie shoe laces if needed.
If only I could get paid to Google things, life would be complete.
Although you're probably doing it wrong
ah no i did google that, just didnt think to check their website first ;)
Nigel Mansell is going to be one of the stewards this weekend: http://fia.com/en-GB/mediacentre/f1_media/Pages/pre_event.aspx
you're questioning my ability to tie a shoe lace?
There are rules.
there are?
*looks at shoes*
Yup:
http://putthison.com/post/536736677/tie-your-shoes-right
see Mr C, they are planning a whole YEAR. I only planned a 6 week holiday. #scapegoat
You think I haven't checked yours already?
hmmm. mine don't look like that.
:D
planning cost me £35 last weekend. never again.
:D :D
I am wearing boots with no laces. Thank you, winter.
but you have to follow through on your planning, when having tickets to an event, one must ensure they have an early night, and then leave the house in time to avoid traffic to said event.
not planning may cost Amy a bit more than that, if i remember correctly with the Euro exchange rate. ;)
that was lack of planning i.e. not leaving early enough..
i planned to have an early night. circumstances made that impossible.
Do you have such a thing as the 10 Commandments of Planning? :D
aw :( but if you don't plan you'll never get to any meetups! :(
pah, I've had my trainers tied with a granny knot for ages, and haven't had to do them up in a good few months.
it was not being able to leave early enough. at least not safely.
its back at 0.675. I won't be happy if it's not back to 0.71 by the time I buy!
:(
i could appear on a whim.
London, August 24, be there or be a meany head. :D
oooh no but I should :D
but......but... meetups! :(
i refuse to promise. i can be the surprise guest. it'll be a surprise to me :)
BLOG! ;)
I probably shouldn't tell you that I've already put the first of my trip clothes from my packing list into my bag. Because you see, I ran out of coat hangers, and the bright red victory shirt isn't exactly something you can wear every day, and it was taking up precious hanger space. So into the luggage it went. #sorrymrc.
I'd rather he was a meany head than in the mood he was in that day.
24th? boo, i'll be asleep then after a day awake.
:D
ever fancied pivoting forlan?
http://pivot.metia.com/worldcup/
I do belive thats results day for me n'all
Only recently.
is that the pre spa drinks?
It's like Guess Who for the World Cup.
I guess I'll have to be a meany head.
:) :)
but.... does this mean i have to find another surprise for you...lol
ughhhh... so sleepy
oh goodness!
my plan... the more i avoid you, the more brilliant pics you come back with.
#sorrychristine
*cries* i haven't seen you since February! #badtimes
I guessed right!
si
ahh, that's true.
i do love the idea of celebrity banner spotting though. if it helps, money is pretty much the only issue with going to spa. at least for me. christine?
moving is expensive.
I'll try be there.. and maybe bring Emily :)
it might be nice to meet some folk before trying to live with them for four days, but I would understand if its tricky for any of the non-London-living Spa folk to get to London so soon before we leave.
cv advice...does anyone care about grades if you're applying for waitressing/shop jobs?? i've left them out so far :S
it is and you do it every 5 minutes!
Alison would know I guess
just say you have those GCSE's/Alevels i.e
A-Levels in Maths, English, Biology
etc
we haven't found the perfect location (within our budget) yet. why compromise?
is Ruben's on Top Gear this week? http://twitpic.com/237caq
we'll try take the banner to spa and get some pics (i was thinking of making a huge 5livef1 one too.. maybe to give to crofty.. or holly just cause they are awesome. not sure if that's too much....
bad times :( coming to the meetup on the tuesday would be a cheaper option *nudge nudge* :)
oooh go on location location location!! you could meet phil and kirsty!!
Oh I don't blame you... I was adding to the cause of why it was especially expensive for you.
don't forget you're in charge of the elephants at my welcoming airport reception :D
we need to make a mixtape for rob.
:)
I assumed that's being filmed for next season
:)
Not having to find my passport appeals to me at the moment.
ty :) never written one of thes before hehe
nope, this week!
:D :D :D i sooo want to meet you at the airport now. :)
especially as you get older people dont really care, especially once you've got alevels.
They are close to broadcast... Often they get the stars because they are promoting something at the moment... Like the British Grand Prix.
awesome! come on the 24th then :)
tbh a levels never helped me waitress before :P
i haven't decided if I'll be excited or cranky after 24 hours on a plane. I'm leaning towards cranky.
I see a small flaw in promoting the BGP at 8pm on Sunday ;) hehe
they would love us. you can't podcast:
- near train stations
- in windy locations
- anywhere close to police or fire stations
- next door to noisy neighbours
- in an owl sanctuary
etc.
Well yes... I agree... But I guess getting Rubens in the country on other weeks is harder
Is that last one a real one? (I mean I understand that it would be trouble, but it it something you've experienced?)
:D :D :D :D
yeah, its good to have f1 people anyway, we get to see hte older car again :D yay
Only when talking to you!
downshifting?
ah yes... Being slow.
:D
from sidepodcast. yes.
I assume my house is out since I live a block from a hospital with a helipad :D
:)
another one for kirsty. good luck luv.
ooooh
they could come live with us... it's nice in the middle of the country.. but i do live next to a main road.. so i suppose the odd ambulance and things do go down there..
ooh yeah. we need superfast broadband.
It is a good excuse to meet non-Spa people too
I think we're more Grand Designs than Location, Location, Location. When we get the funding together, we're building ourselves a bunker and never coming out.
finland looks pretty quiet.
I actually remember some story from the world of music... Some band went to a recording studio deliberately out in the middle of nowhere but they had something like an owl or something living in their studio and it was protected so they had to move.
nothing exciting. but audio to do with audio or video affects where you choose to live. unless you can afford to custom build in soundproofing.
YES!
The Concrete Cottage :)
http://bit.ly/a7Cusz
simples :D
we've got the superfast broadband thing in our town.. at least it's available... we don't have it.. but it's an area where you can get it...
oooh and we have a greggs..
don't you mean:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=rockall&sll=39.3173,-111.09375&sspn=0.097612,0.222988&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Rockall&t=h&z=6
I still do Librivox when there's a peaceful moment, and I might do something F1 Minutey or Mini Seriesey when we've moved. At the moment it's just not practical.
the odd ambulance and three tonne european lorry juggernaut. like the five that just went past. :P
that is unfortunate. we once had baby bird things living in the gutter. that required moving rooms i think.
shhhhhhh.
And there was a bass guitar somewhere near the other room.
:)
Busted!
Was that to em or the lorries?
oh yeah. local band practice is an issue.
urm.. I'll try again. I dont get why the sea looks like play-doh!
hehe!
i think we're destined to a life of moving regularly.
so Rockall minus the wind works well?
my brother said the worst part of living next door to someone who played the drums every day for three years was the fact that even after 1000 days of play, they never got any better.
Wow... Rockall really is a varied place ;)
Heh... I already owned U Can't touch this. And also "Can't touch this" which was exactly the same but with the wrong name... Now I have it three times...
Also I had an idea for the T show... Should I just play Tubular bells? 1 track 28 minutes? Then part 2?
Although, there is a donations button if anyone wants to help start the bunker fund :)
Good plug :)
wow, that early night sounds mighty appealing :D
bunker fund! awesome. we could live stream the digging.
I donate in exchange for pictures of Heikki. I wonder if Lou's count. I did just work out my tax refund...
Can I donate a video of Heikki talking about Silverstone? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uypnwiSjU_M
To be honest I think you're going to like this show...
How much do you think the bunker fund is going to cost? £1,000,000?
you've still got to see the best photo i took of Heikki. Em loves it. :)
at least. what's mccloud's daily rate?
He doesn't help you... Unless you pay him but I guess that wouldn't be on the show... He just turns up and watches and chats to you.
I just found out the best T song ever doesn't even have a wikipedia page. Outrageous.
that's 'O'?
Thinking about it, though, if we go on Grand Designs, we're bound to end up losing our jobs or having a baby or something. That is what happens.
He then makes suggestions and the designers completely ignore him.
:D
The best T song ever is by Engelbert :D
Oooh... One song on my list didn't have a wikipedia page. (Not that I checked them all but I was looking something up about the complicated band structure)
he does sometimes. although he mostly patronises your best efforts and picks holes in your design. he's an architect though, he still design something?
It's S Club 7 again, isn't it?
That's my favourite bit... That or the bit when he asks them who they are getting in to do the project management and they say, "I'm going to do it, and I'll be fine and the fact that I have a full time job isn't a problem". The look on his face is priceless.
He does still work and you can hire him I think.
:) No...
we'll do that then. he's hardly going to insult himself.
And then he can have all the babies and things Christine was talking about.
That's How I Beat Shaq by Aaron Carter? Instant classic that one.
BOOM.
that could be an issue.
Maybe the roles switch and you end up presenting the show and critiscing everything he does?
im not sure how much design work underground bunkers need, i think he'd turn up, give you a massive sheet of corrigated iron and a post-it note saying
"Dig"
Kevin lives in Frome!!!
No room for babies in bunkers.
And the picture on his Wikipedia page was taken at the Goodwood Festival of Speed...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_McCloud
"that bandsaw isn't very mfc"
he was live on their streaming video page over the weekend. not sure the interviewer knew who he was.
And it would also be a problem because you would be bringing a source of noise into the house... No amount of moving would fix that one.
Could they not just build a sound proof room somewhere? This would seem the sensible idea.
Even if you put the baby in it.
Yes :)
You too can have Kevin McLoud hate your new build for two years then absolutely love the result :)
Yea... I'm not so keen on this McCloud chap anymore.
and then it could be like the sims and you could delete the doors. Baby problem no more.
On Sky Sports too, bloke who does the speedway knew who he was though. Presented one of the style awards I think
Perfect.
ah. well. yes. but you may have other problems
it wouldn't be a small bunker, would it? may contain sharp edges though.
ahhhh. excellent. children are banned then.
No. Big bunker. Should have said:
Plenty of room for babies in bunkers, but bunkers no place for babies.
Turns out McCloud is a designer not an architect...
He could put up the wallpaper I suppose.
i once suggested a family member bring one of these for their child + pushchair: http://www.gadgetking.com/2008/11/18/yamahas-my-room-ii-sound-proof-singing-room/
not sure i've been forgiven yet.
:0
Oooh Christine...
So... I have been checking with Fourstar and he has provided me with the rules governing golden shoes
As far as we can tell this third place match counts for golden shoe calculations... So there is a chance that Forlan could overtake Sneijder and Villa who have five (Forlan has 4).
It all comes together
he used to be though. he can't have forgotten.
what's the difference anyhow?
:)
I won't say anything that Sneijder and Villa...and Ozil and Muller...are still in the competition. As well as Suarez in theory, cos Suarez rules.
I don't think he ever has been an architect
yeah he races, i watched a video of him racing an electric car the other day
Ooh. They did take him off because he was injured though, so will he even play?
#nothere
The cheapest way to get a bunker is to rent a factory in Switzerland. All Swiss factories by law have a huge nuclear bunker under them.
But the main event might be a tighter mach?
(is that the term?)
he said he was, when they showed his office, in series 1.
I woulda went closer instead of tighter myself
Talking of football, do we have a volunteer for the World Cup post today?
Was thinking that if we get someone today, then I could do Saturday's, because... you know, I'm feeling generous. No other reason. And then we've got RG doing the final to round it all off nicely.
did they steal them from Usain Bolt?
Okay... Wikipedia says he studied it at university, but he's been mainly doing things like designing...
has anyone not done one?
I'll do it if nobody else wants to.
Jon...?
if i could be bothered, i'd fine the episode and update wikipedia. however, i'm far too lazy.
Okay, so Mr Famous Celebrity Chef has just arrived
#exciting
jon!
You are honestly asking me to write about football?
Who is it?
I don't suppose anyone wants more stats on the German national team and still-Captain Philipp Lahm?
Why not? Even Lou has tried! ;)
I would definitely like that!
Yeah but even lou has a greater knowledge/interest than me. Who's playing?
From an interview in 2003
Germany versus Spain. Soooo F1-related that I am sure you can do a good job. :D
I can take it on. It probably won't be very long, though. :)
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/videos/featuresvideos/254017/lotus_evora_passenger_ride_with_heikki_kovalainen.html
HEIKKI!
Where do I submit? :)
YAY!
To Mr or Mrs. C I guess.
Well I don't know if I should say, it is an open secret perhaps so it should be fine. And we are doing it for promo, so...
Heston Blumenthal may or may not be filming a TV ad tomorrow and Friday, and his crew has just arrived. I'm sure I saw him arrive in his BMW.
Okay, later on the football thread. ;)
w00t! all your questions answered: http://sidepodcast.com/about/writing-a-guest-post/
if he had no hair and a blow torch in his hand then its almost certainly him
Well, he was parking
#yearoldLukehreference
:)
the glasses look even worse on video than they do in stills
:)
Aw. I don't think it is nearly that bad.
He wore them at Goodwood and I saw them on the big screen when he did an interview. Awful!
LIGHTROOM IS AMAZING!
yeah he was wearing them at the interview (we went there for crofty and saw heikki too..) infact i have a pic of him with the glasses ...
fact
have you seen this site lou? http://www.photoshopuser.com/lightroom3/
oooohhh no.
this is soooo fun! :D
I know that wasn't aimed at me... but thanks for that... Katherine has just bought Lightroom and was asking if there was any resources I knew for tutorials and stuff... It was on my list of things to do... AWESOME.
corrected your spelling there ;)
On what network will the match be shown there?
BBC.
highly, highly recommended. it's me favourite app of the year. i pointed lou in this direction a few weeks back too: http://tv.adobe.com/show/learn-lightroom-3/
Excellent. I don't do much with photos... But obviously Katherine does so I have been pestering her to get it.
tell her to try out tethered shooting. using a massive monitor as your viewfinder is just brilliant.
Will do :)
oooh iPad... Out in the field...
i have that bookmarked in my special ' after exams' folder that i'm not working through.
i guess it'd be up to apple to allow that. mbp in the field would work though.
I guess... However it would be an interesting ploy to Apple. Steve basically said we look forward to Adobe going back to being innovative and doing new things. So when they do that...
Danke. Sent via the postbox. ;)
you'd need a fully fledged lightroom app on the ipad first. whereas we could take the laptop with us to see joe this friday and do live tethered shooting from the tent.
it's a "now" versus "maybe" thing.
legend! christine are you on it?
Is Amy still awake?
I am on it. Are there any F1/Football related pictures left in the whole world?
Understood.
there are, but i'm at work :(
You are useless to me.
in fairness to apple, i think aperture did tethered shooting before lightroom. so i doubt steve sees it as innovation at all :)
Jonathan Ross is off to ITV. I wonder if he'll only ever people connected to ITV, seems what they usually do..
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment_and_arts/10540917.stm
my apologies.
aka "real life" folder. (we may need to buy a larger folder)
Ah, that's annoying. He was all, no, I just wanna take a break.
This is the most tenuous one I could find... Shame it's a bit small: http://www.theroyalforums.com/attachments/blogs/uploads/2009/05/9404021.jpeg
S'okay. It's a fabulous post, needs no pictures. When shall I publish?
go now.
That's what I thought!
pic of heikki!!
http://twitpic.com/2383ei
for amy... cause i haven't got to the one of catherine yet..
My newspaper found one of Basti V. doing a passable imitation of a footballer and I couldn't stop laughing at it.
Anyway this is awesome. :P
http://www.mondomotoriblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/schumacher_alonso.jpg
Germany v Spain, F1-style. :D
heikki says "lolz".
Ping: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/07/07/2010-fifa-world-cup-day-23/
hehe
Smiley Heikki is LOVE.
:D
Why not just be honest and say, I did a few bad things, it was all getting a bit embarrassing so we decided it best I left.
At least Russell Brand was brave about it.
I need to stop randomly drifting off. 3 times in 2 days now!
well... it was a long and tiring weekend.. i still don't really have a voice..
http://www.diarioya.es/store/alonso y schumacher_20081226175630_500.jpg
slightly larger version.
Goodwood is ridiculously tiring. Took us ages to recover when we went all three days.
I think we should just tell it hide and seek finished a long time ago so it returns
fixed link.
I suppose the gap between this one ending and the new one starting is a break, but I agree... sounds like he's trying to avoid the 'tail between legs' thing.
i'd still do it again.. and make it up to the rally stage next time.. :)
Or say... The BBC said they wanted to reduce my salary (he quit around the time lots of others announced they had taken or were forced into pay cuts) and I thought I'd threaten to resign to call their bluff and they said, "actually resigning might be a good idea".
:D
Like I said to Pat yesterday, am gad he got photos of the cathedral paddock as we didn;'t get to go there. We did try the supercar paddock but yeeeeeeeeesh. Busy was an understatement
i was feeling awful on that saturday too much dust which led to lots of sneezing in that paddock.. i was more interested in finding f1 people anyways :D
Seems quite likely but not the thing people say really
hehe, I'm not complaining at all with what we did at goodwood, I know what you were like with the hayfever. Silly sneezing :(
right.
I turned it into a dedicated blog post because I had the feeling you weren't alone in not going - I nearly didn't go :)
you not having a voice is quite amusing though. especially the squeeking/honking noises that have replaced said voice ;D
:)
am wondering if it wasn't actually hayfever and just all the dust. it would explain why my voice is all.. erm.. wierd.
Heheh :)
I will write up a goodwood bog post this week I swear. My laptop constantly turning itself off is not helping.
you're so mean..
Awww!
I'm just glad I wasn't around you when I had my seemingly out of body experience for the whole of one evening...
it's true. i probably would have moved you to the middle of the goodwood hill. hehehe.
right, we're off to hand out CVs and things. back later ya'll xx
More actual news!
ART has withdrawn their F1 entry bid:
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/85047
"ART Grand Prix had forged strong bonds with several technical and financial partners but with unfavourable economic conditions they could not gather the necessary guarantees to ensure the stability of the project in the long term."
Byee!
who does that leave bidding then?
later. :)
Sidepodcast?
Epsilon must be the favorite, now, surely. Stefan is still involved, as is a US entity whose name I can't remember.
Epsilon and that American group who's name I've forgotten
#sameperson. :D
snap :)
the "Cypher" group. or something. Appropriate name, since noone knows jack squat about them. Other than that Jonathan Summerton is supposedly talking to them (at least according to his twitter)
Didn't he talk to USF1, too?
Yes, that's it, CypherF1.
I think SylarF1 sounds way more awesome.
Will the grid be further expanded than? Even though drivers are already complaining of congestion?
I wonder if they looked into buying part or all of STR or Sauber. Surely, they could get involved with what would be established teams at a slightly cheaper price? More cost-efficient too, IMO.
ah yeah
Alonso has the eyebrows for it!
I'm already signed up to manage a World Cup team, I can't be taking on an F1 team as well.
if art have pulled out, it may be the fia have left it too late for 2011.
Not sure, I know there was lots of "hey, HE should drive for USF1 and not all these fer'ners". I'm guessing they did talk but obviously nothing came of it.
you have two players... how fast can they drive?
it could be. but then we saw three new teams this year. so it could be done.
Well for pete's sake it's July. they needed to start designing next years cars a long time ago!
agreed. i have no idea what the delay is about. extra due diligence?
Maybe you want to manage a Superleague Formula team instead? With Franck and Forlan in it?
If this was a group that's generally seen as "competent", I might agree. But with this group, I tend to lean towards "incompetent" :)
Indeed, now we might up with someone less professional
haha, Mr Chandhok tweeting:
wonder if @mrschristine will give me points for cooking lunch for the team ??!!
:D:D
100 points for that surely! Or at least 25?
:D :D :D :D
Wow. :D
Am now in love with him.
In a totally manly and heterosexual way, of course.
:)
:D Hahaha!
Here's the link: http://twitter.com/karunchandhok/status/17959128490
Send Karun the trophy NOW! (you DO have a trophy... right??)
...just stick a panda on a stick or something....
They also said on the Speed TV broadcast a few GP's ago that his mother is from Texas. Haven't been able to find out if that's correct or not.
He is brilliant.
Has Christine fallen over I wonder?
Coool :)
OH MY GOD!!! :D :D I heart Karun! :)
the real question is what did he cook though ;)
he mentioned earlier he was cooking a yummy curry
extra win for him then ! :D :D
what?!
Curry
http://twitpic.com/22zg21
http://twitpic.com/22zol4
http://twitpic.com/22zvu5
http://twitpic.com/236qsl
(all from his twitter feed over the last two days!)
a good week for sidepodcast and drivers :)
i have
So Karun reads Sidepodcast, I think we need him to come out and comment.
Sounds great! I (heart) curry. :D
om nom nom
you have to retweet that. you must. can we have her twitter window full of reweets by the time she next checks it?
i should have found him with the banner!!!!!
*plans for Spa*
Maybe the drivers are all secretly lurkers here...
amy & co told him about the rankings in melbourne, i'm stunned he remembered though.
I saw him at Williams but was too shy to say anything :(
i did say hello to him on the saturday but i didn't have the banner then..
#stillnothere
I tweeted him once about it to let him know he was leading. I think others have as well.
ahh, yes. good man.
we're going to need to get a bank loan and come aren't we?
i wish we could get joe with the banner too. are you sure you're unavailable on friday?
i'm free all day.. i just can't get there :(
can you retweet karun, even if you're not here?
It was only week 2 or 3 of the rankings so he must be tracking them or someone told him he is not in the lead any more. He clearly knows from somewhere that Timo got points for cooking though.
Have retweeted for Christine
damn it. how far can you get. leigh is struggling to get back, maybe we need a mini bus?
Yes. Although I've kinda stopped pressuring you now I know you're moving again, because I very much know how expensive that can be!
w00t!
I thought you had a car now
17 seconds from request to completion. I think that is a reasonable response
He knows from GrandPrixDiary about the cooking thing, because he was the next one Rob tried to convince!
it's fantastically bad timing. it's only money though.
i could probably get there.. it's getting back. there would be no way i could get to london for my last train.. and i have school founders day/prize giving thing on the Saturday which i can't miss :(
He is sure very diligent then. :D
i do.. but it's a long and painful story.
that's faster than the comments refresh :)
Oh :(
#sidepodtime
:(
ahh boo. first train in the morning?
New blog post by Sarah Holt:
Lewis Hamilton did not mind admitting that when he drove round Silverstone's new 'Arena' circuit in the McLaren simulator for the first time, he missed the new Abbey corner and carried on down the old track.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/sarahholt/2010/07/a_closeup_view_of_the_new_silv.html
also included is a video of Ant driving around Silverstone and giving his thoughts on the new layout :)
hehe!
money is an issue... :(
i know that feeling :(
certainly quicker. clearly Silverstone are prepared in case Bernie's idea of shortcuts goes through ;)
I assume everyone has seen Christine's football poem. It is getting lots of comments
http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/07/07/ode-to-forlan/
poor sarah looks so unwell!
ANT!! :D
What the...
"Apart from the MotoGP bikes, no-one has raced here before." - Hill.
Completely not true.
i need to win the lottery. please say hi to Joe for me. i wish i could go.
I do think the whole world has realized it before you. ;)
She looks petrified when the car turns!
will do :)
I was driving!!
i think someone is gaming your rankings :)
pedro has no chance.
say hi to Emma too! :)
I really want curry now.
i should ask karun for help, next sidepodradio.
If he really wants to win, he should just come make us a curry :)
Is downshifting officially over now?
Tell him :)
i didn't say "when".
:P
via kottke. blogs they by dying (sorta): http://www.economist.com/node/16432794?story_id=16432794
Experimentation has brought innovations, such as comment threads, and the ability to mix thoughts, pictures and links in a stream, with the most recent on top. Yet Facebook, Twitter and the like have broken the blogs' monopoly.
boo :(
plus we can't upshift when it takes five whole evenings to make a fancy poll. factbytefactbox updates might be a bit delayed now.
Aw... (heart) your updates anyway!
When Sidepodradio 2 is on, though, downshifting will definitely be over. Cos... Sidepodradio is about as upshifted as you can get.
true enough. that should be the official benchmark.
Okay. #waitspatiently
I have about an unanticipated number of new "this person is following you" emails.
hehehehe
:D
:D
haha
ooh, heikki doesn't have a banner to fall back on this weekend: http://twitter.com/mrschristine/status/17965602799
Heikki headping. He just tweeted after Christine did.
:)
Damon Hill has been stirring the pot about the McLaren drivers, reckoning things will 'boil over' this weekend at Silverstone. {Original entry}
Only if he's had a scoop to the effect that they're planning a response to Timo Glock, Kamui Kobayashi and Karun Chandhok's recent cooking adventures!
Hello all. I have spent yet another day without a voice.. {Comment #16}
I hope your voice returns soon.
Before everyone disappears into the football thread in a little while, there is the matter of the Viva quiz later tonight: www.vivaf1.com/chat
I'll be there as usual.
I may actually join! How long does it take now, including results?
I shall be there
When I hosted last week I do believe it was finished by 10:15 BST.
Fair enough. Will probably join. ;)
Same as it ever did, about an 1hr 10m or so for questions and 20 mins for results to appear.
Asking just in case it takes longer now. :D
Morning guys, how are we today? {Comment #99}
Happy, thank you. One of my colleagues had a birthday today and we celebrated by spending lunch in a nice Italian restaurant.
evening folks
Hello Leigh.
I love that at one point Sidepodradio 2 was never going to happen ever. but its now the two of you discussing the second one :P
The fun thing will be to see if any of the comment trawlers reply to the initial question throughout the day... {Comment #94}
I think I missed the inital question, but this comment made me laugh because I could see me doing precisely that! :D
Hello
Hey
evening folks {Comment #711}
Good evening!
I think the iPhone/iPod/iPad/iEverythingElseLife is out today too [for Monkey Island 2] as they announced it yesterday as a surprise :) {Comment #103}
Where's the iPaq version?
what goes on (bar football)
*?
(woops)
We gave up that fight long ago :)
It has it's own wiki page and everything: http://sidepodcast.wikia.com/wiki/Sidepodradio_2
With Sidepodcast being around for the next 20 years Sidepodradio 2 will happen sometime in that period.
hehe :D
You could go up one gear instead of two or three.. a monthly show? Leaves you 3 weeks of update time per month (minus Aside weeks)..
#fishing
cool :)
I need to do some totally over the top predictions again
Someone wants me to do a promo on the blog.
Didn't you predict Alonso for this years championship?
Very good question, I remember predicting Franck for USF1.
oops.
gah!!!!!!!
could someone please tell me what is wrong (or right) with this pricing structure?
http://twitpic.com/2399j8/full
Looks like you have an Anytime ticket (most expensive), an Off Peak ticket (next expensive) and Advance tickets which are priced according to the train you are booked on but can only be used on that specific service.
It really depends on how confident you are that you will make a specific train. The Advance tickets vary due to the popularity of the train.
Also, those are single fares, are you coming back? ;)
annoying - in Ireland we have train fares!! No fancy schmanzy stuff and add-ons.... grrrr!! I'll be going up to Banbury, but probably coming back from Milton Keynes as it's the latest train
That makes it a bit more complicated. Also, travelling in & out of London causes it's own variations due to the volume of passengers at the peak. The Train Operators try & set prices to get people to travel at times when there are fewer passengers which won't help you trying to get there in the morning.
yay
My thinking is to get the early (earrrrrly) train and wander around until the bus comes
Ithink Lukeh has shown us why Honda were no good at designing F1 cars.

#shock #horror
I was listening to Macbreak Weekly earlier and Leo has had a massive upgrade to his studio #confidentialfrommrc but the shock is he is sitting in a chair now and not on the ball.
what.what.what?
Don't know if it is permanent or not but he said he couldn't get a chair behind his desk before so sounds like the ball may be history.
joe's post has turned into a mac discussion: http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2010/07/07/back-in-action/
Second: I have a question for Rob's next interview... Does he favour the C60 or the C90? {Comment #201}
I don't know how Rob will answer this but I prefer the C60 - my hi-fi objects to C90 tapes!
It has it's own wiki page and everything: http://sidepod…m/wiki/Sidepodradio_2 {Comment #721}
I need to patch my "Travels in Sidepodland" together (can't remember if it made it onto last year's) and see if I can add Nottingham now that I work there.

oooh go on location location location!! you could meet phil and kirsty!!
they would love us. you can't podcast:
- near train stations
- in windy locations
- anywhere close to police or fire stations
- next door to noisy neighbours
- in an owl sanctuary {Comment #384}
My place works well (usually).
the honda balloons were cool!
oh dear.. i've given em the same pain killers i gave Lukeh on Saturday and now she is going to have a nap..
Prepare for the nonsense speech soon then :)
Painkillers or sleeping tablets?
Do you make a habit of knocking people out?
If you know it is going to happen you need to live stream it
They were something else, I'll give you that
well... i'm starting to wonder...
she would kill me.,
Give her two more of your knock out pills and you will be miles away before she knows.
I am on it. Are there any F1/Football related pictures left in the whole world? {Comment #539}
Quite a few. Stick "Nazionale Piloti" into whatever blogsafe image search engine is your favourite.
@Mr C... how did i ever live without lightroom?
i don't remember the days before lightroom. sorry.
hehe! and with a clean camera sensor.. going through pics is now much much easier! ahhhh <3's adobe for making good photo products
the combination of the Panasonic Lumix G2 and adobe lightroom makes me very happy.
Was it worth getting that camera then for 2 hours?
hehe. has did you find the camera?
i want one!
i mean, you probably followed the signs and checked the map. how was it to use?
Your dad offered to buy you one!
We found it on the Saturday and Lou was super happy with it :)
The woman offered me one but I felt too scared to have one because it looked so expensive and the only photographer out of us who knew to actually use one was lou :)
Has anyone got anything they would like to appear in the daily? :)
Couldn't you have had one for two hours after Lou then she could have had it twice as long?

polls and stuff.
#sameperson
already in ;)
(hearts)
it's very awesome. it's even got a touch screen so when you're really reaching up high and can't reach the shutter you press the screen and it takes the picture. the quality of the photos is very very good too! colours are almost perfect. HD camera which with a 2GB SD can shoot an hours worth of video. I enjoyed playing around with it alot. However i'm one of those people who like to have much more control over their camera, which is why all the blink detection etc annoys me. however once i got used to it and switched it onto manual mode i found myself wanting it more and more.
while at goodwood it was perfect for a second camera. i felt like a proper motorsports photographer, one with my larger lens and the other with a smaller one. the best set up :)
blink detection?
Please :) http://toomuchracing.com/2010/07/07/goodwood-2010-cathedral-paddock-with-video/
There may be something up later too but I'm not sure yet
but you did the nice thing and carried the stupidly huge camera bag they gave us with it :)
I did!
That was a big bag.
yeah, once you press the shutter you can programme it to take two shots one after the other - reducing the chance of you blinking in one of the pics. it automatically selects the best one which is the one you see... i think... i don't fully understand it... but i don't like silly things like that. just gimme a nice camera, if i take a pic where someone isn't smiling or they are blinking i'll take it again..
got ya, a new one on me. coulda been useful here though: http://twitpic.com/22499s
:)
I used my camera :(
#sorrymrc
ahhhh true story... i always feel that all these silly features just get in the way of the basic elements of the camera. i think that's why i love my old Nikon D70s, even though it's heavy and chunky. i have so much control of how the shot looks, it makes me happy :)
car detection on a camera would have been useful for me.
i believe they are called.....eyes
This is not funny. I'v just done the VivaF1 quiz... ...and my e-mail provider's refusing to load.
ahhh but if all cameras had that then everyone would get amazing pics of f1 cars and then there would be no future career for me :(
it's not easy trying to see the car in on the camera screen in daylight, and timing it to press the shutter, so it takes the pic at the right time.
the camera i have now is quicker, but a lot of basic digital cameras take an age to take the shot.
It isn't easy, especially when there's only a small gap where there are no people
they wouldn't be amazing pics, that takes skill, but at least car would be seen instead of bales of hay

Can you PM Jackie?
jenson!! :D
Forget it. I'm going to have to accept that Yahoo! Mail has picked a stupid time to crash and that I won't be able to participate in the Viva F1 quiz...
Can you PM Jackie? {Comment #794}
No, because I can't sign up to Viva F1 in the first place.
Besides, giving up appears to have fixed Yahoo!. Wierd...
Only Yahoo Mail isn't working?
Give it a go.
Put your answers in a comment here and Jackie can pick them up
Only Yahoo Mail isn't working? {Comment #799}
Correct. Everything else on Yahoo! was fine - maybe loads of Spaniards are emailing each other about the football...
Having now fixed Yahoo! Mail's problem (apparently) by giving up on it, I've now managed to send the e-mail.
@Mr C
If you ever fancy a fully equipped mobile studio try this. The guy who owns it did Leo's upgrade.

Gavin, did you see my Facebook wall and see who is coming to Spa?
Mr C!!!!! i have a question about lightroom....
shoot.
once i've finished sorting through the photos i've uploaded.. and have exported them to another file on my hard drive... how to i like... wipe clean lightroom so i can import more?..
you don't normally need to wipe it. they just stay there. usually i delete the exports after uploading to flickr.
the lightroom database remembers all of your changes you just back up the database regularly.
what worries me is where they are saved to.. i only have 3GB left on one of the hard drives on my laptop..
i would imagine you can move the database to another drive and use it directly from there. i don't know too much about that to be honest, i just let it do it's thing.
for the moment, i wouldn't delete anything, spend a bit more time with it and watch all of the tutorial videos. there are several ways of using the workflow to suit your needs, but i'm pretty sure none of the involve removing stuff from lightroom.
What a lineup.....

oh and Darius played....
cool okay, am an impatient sole :) will watch the tutorial vids tomorrow evening. am just enjoying playing with it atm.
... yes i am one of those people that never tends to looks at the instructions....
Darius?
oh Lukeh.
You're missing out
Quite right too. Instructions just take the fun out of things
Googled:
Darius Campbell is a critically acclaimed West End actor and platinum-selling singer-songwriter, born in Glasgow Scotland in 1980
??
no he isn't... he's missing out by not knowing or listening to bombay bicycle club..
the fact you can't find the erase option, tells me there probably isn't one. i haven't looked, but i only remember seeing a "delete individual photo" option. not "wipe database".
He was a reject off X-Factor/Pop Factor/Popstars or whatever its called.
My favourite tweet of the night comes from Emma which is something along the lines of; "oh wow, he can actually sing"
you don't know darius?
Nope. I bubble myself from modern music :)
ahhh! i have found that if i make a new catalog then i can trick myself into thinking that lightroom hasn't saved anything... ahhhh :) what i don't remember wont hurt me :)
please listen to bombay bicycle club.. they are amazing.... do i need to ask Alex to tell you they are good too.. (like i did with Gavin and Stacey?)
heheheheheh
I will definitely do so.... tomorrow, as I am very tired :( but i will listen to them. Now I go to bed though, night everyone
it might be worth having a "motorsport" catalogue and another for everything else. i'm pretty sure you won't never one for every single shoot.
i will remind you...
night Lukeh! x
night lukeh
ah that's true, i may do that. although seeing as i'm going through all my goodwood pics atm i have made a goodwood catalogue cause i've nearly got 2,000 shots all together.
fair enough. my catalogue is about 15,000. not sure i've loaded all of them, but a good number and it's still pretty quick.
woooah! okay. you're using a lovely mac though.. i'm using a dying acer :( although lightroom is much nicer for my laptop than batch editing in photoshop is :)
fixed ;)
OK, I'm really going now *runs*
photoshop is really not good at batch editing. wonderful for single photo styling though.
see ya
haha! it's not my fault you rest your hand on the same button on my laptop over and over again. you have a strange typing style. ;)
agreed
evening sidepodworld...
shift change.
