Bonjour. And it is another Monday, but it is not a normal Monday, it is in fact a Bank Holiday Monday. A day in which you have an excuse to do absolutely nothing all day. Unless you are working anyways, or have to revise 60 answers to questions of French for a speaking exam on the Tuesday. Ahh well, onto the bulletpoints...
- First off, a big well done to our very own Turkey Machine, who managed to finish 176th in the Great East Anglia Run, and set it in a Personal Best time as well. So well done mate!
- There was a ton of racing going on yesterday, pretty much everything except from F1 (back next week folks). In F2, there was a massive accident, with Ricardo Teixera going for flying lessons. In the BTCC, 0.009 seconds separated 1st from 2nd (though only after the original winner got disqualified). And the new Silverstone layout was used for the first time in the FIA GT1 series, but it has been receiving mixed reviews over the weekend. And our man on the ground, Pat W, has similar feelings.
- And finally, Romain Grosjean wants to get back into F1. Of course, as he is a fellow RG, I hope he gets a chance (that is my only reason to be fair). He wasn't too impressive when he replaced Nelson Piquet jr, but do you think he will fit back into F1, perhaps at the new team that will be coming in next season?
I suppose I'll do the hard thing of plugging my own work, my thoughts on the greatest Finn of all time. It may come to a surprise to a few people. Also, since its a recurring theme in the last few days, to all you de-lurkers, say hi. We had Steven Prussia pop in today to continue one de-lurk a day (nice work lou!) i've been trying to teach him the difference between a moorhen and a duck since november... the fact there were moorhens, swans, ducks, and geese at hampton court today has obviously confused things somewhat..

the thing is, you and i know joe is in the paddock and we know james allen is (mostly) in the paddock. and we have the common sense to figure out most other bloggers beside those two are not.
sadly however, the majority of people don't seem to understand that distinction and blindly believe that planet f1 spend all year travelling to races. i have no idea how to solve that problem, although i suspect from reading the comments on joe's post, people are too stupid to see the difference and why it's important.

I think traditional telecoms still has a strong foothold, but I certainly agree that for businesses VoIP is the way forward, and it will likely produce about 70% of the traffic.
I disagree, mainly because I know the technical differences and why Skype has comparatively poor call quality, but I won't argue that here. However it is easy to say to relatives "download Skype" in far-flung countries.

Yeah but I had a thing for it because it was kinda old and I really liked the circuit layout, it sucked for lots of other stuff but I liked the layout.

I agree. When the put the chicane in at Woodcote in the 70s they ruined the circuit. Since then they keep tweaking and tweaking when it was a great track to start with
Silverstone was ruined during the last overhaul after the 1990 GP :(

Yep. The first Woodcote chicane was OK but after that they have been trying to make it more like Brands and you can't do that on flat land

I used to keep tickets from everything. I never put them on a wall but I always kept them
special occasion things tend to go on my wall (like my goodwood tickets etc)... and train tickets tend to build up in my purse... as do cinema tickets.
i'm really pleased there are other people who do/ did this... my friends think it's very strange, and can't see why i'd bother.

i have to get mum to through out my train tickets.. but i have pretty my every cinema ticket i have ever bought... except the newer ones which are done on paper and much easier to loose. :D
i think they see that as the reason i take so many pics when we are out and about :)
