Since no-one has posted a daily I thought I would write one with a few interesting links I have found. Obviously as it is a last minute rushed job it is not to the normal standard but since everyone at sidepodcast has a problem with time zones at least this lets people know they are on the correct day.

We had a discussion the other day about a little space rock that came within 12,000 km of hitting the Earth. Well that is not the only close call people have had with things flying around in space. The occupants of the International Space Station had to lock themselves in the two Soyuz craft that are currently docked there while a piece of space debris whizzed by way too close for comfort.
We all know the festival of Speed is happening in the next few days. I just found out that Martin Donnelly is driving a Lotus 102 there. That won’t mean much to most of you but the last time he drove one it split in two across the cockpit and deposited him on the track ending a potentially great F1 career. He was Damon Hill’s F3 team mate and Hill was not threat to him. He then drove for Eddie Jordan in F300 with Jean Alesi as his team mate and there was nothing between them in speed but Donnelly was far smarter behind the wheel.
Finally. We all know Alison is a fan of Masterchef which is a show where people who claim that they are great cooks prove that they are clueless. Well it seems the presenters have become a bit of an internet sensation as someone has turned some of their comments into a song.

Very good point there. But it all depends on how Ricciardo does. For all we know, he falls flat on his face and just moves up to STR instead of RBR. The next few weeks will be key.

Haven't been on here since I've been back, so you didn't really miss it so to speak. But, yeah, the 6 month trip I had planned and paid for was squashed by immigration with no refunds. :
I'm trying to stay positive about it and look at the good in it. They could have held me overnight, instead they released me to him, which was very good.
I hope so too, and I'm fighting to make it work. If nothing else, it's going to end up being a great story to tell our kids and grandkids if things work out! :)

lewis is a great driver, at his best when leading and there's no-one to bump into. vettel is exactly the same in that regard. the only difference is vettel has the fast car this season.

Essentially, they held me for 6 1/2 hours without telling me why and locked me in a room with 3 other detainees, who were all irate and scared me quite a bit. I ended up not being able to eat for 40 hours and I've lost 25 pounds in a week and a half... Glad for the weight loss, just wanted it to be under better circumstances.
Could you take that case to the police, or something similar?
nothing really, i just expected a smile after being on a plane for 24 hours like I'd gotten in every other place I'd visited up until then in my life. Instead I got a very gruff 'why are you here!?' as if the country really didn't need or want my tourism dollars. Plus I was dedicating half my brain to trying to work out how to hide from the camera awaiting me in the arrival hall. My giant baggage distraction worked a treat ;)
America scared me....welcomed off the plane to view of sheriff stood there shotgun in hand, expressionless face...

US Embassy couldn't do anything about it, and I don't want to risk being able to enter the UK again later on.
Oh, they also kept my passport, so if I would have been stopped, I would have been arrested. I've got it back now though, had to fight to get them to "find" it though.
I've never been on a international trip, but I've heard of people who has gone to the US and they all say it's quite scary... I see Liss thinks the same.

I think what hurt more than not being allowed to stay in the UK was one of my "friends" calling me a liar on a public board. Thing is, if I had of lied to immigration, I would have gotten in no problem. It was only because I can't lie and I was honest that I had problems. Needless to say that person is no longer counted amongst my friends.
I think I'm one of the few people who don't want to be anywhere near London while the Olympics are going on! :p

Last time I transited thru LAX I got put in the naughty room because they didn't understand why I had two passports - I am allowed to have a UK one and an NZ one. That was an odd experience because I had done nothing wrong. They asked the lady in front of me why she had visited a certain country 3 times in the last year, to her reply that she was from there and visiting family...
When it got to my turn, I explained things to them and the small lady asking me the questions ended up getting very mad at her 6ft plus colleague. All a waste of 2 hours just to stamp my passport so I could cross the road and go to the other terminal!
Newcastle is nice this time of year.
And all we have to do in the summer is watch a rather financially ruined rugby league team.
That's one of my worries if I can get dual citizenship to the US and the UK...

Also one time in Munich airport, flying back to NZ from Denmark, I was asked how long I had stayed in Germany. I had been in Denmark for 3 weeks so when I answered that I had only been in Germany for 2 hours, it startled him until I explained myself...

my flatmate had problems at Christmas when she flew into Bangladesh on her Bengali passport then tried to fly back into Australia with her brand new Australian one (she'd only been a citizen for about a month at that time). She got pulled up for trying to enter the country when the system had no record of her leaving the country in the first place :)

Final one - Mrs. Goat and I won a trip through her work from Wellington to Sydney. It was a mystery trip and she needed a Visa, which was a problem as she had an old passport. So when she got to immigration and was asked where she was staying, where she was going etc. all she could say was "I don't know". So she got pulled aside while the other 10 of us got rather worried.
It turned out all right though. They checked her passport out and let her in after an hour.
*facepalm*
My passport has no record of me being in the UK, they never stamped it. I do have a stamp for when I came back into the US though.

I've thought for some time, that the standard immigration officer operation scheme around the world is to act as abrasive as possible to people, ask pointed questions that don't necessarily have right or wrong answers, just to see if they can make people flap. They *want* to see how you react and act, that's how they get a feel for if you're doing something shady or not.
They're not actually acting on any information they have on you, they're more or less just poking to see what happens.
I think mine got angry when I kept giving the same answers. My theory is that if you tell the truth you don't have to remember what you said!

I found airport security leaving Spain on the way to Paris to be a lot tighter than any of my other EU to EU flights, it was the only place I got fully patted down and my shoes x-rayed. I didn't see any immigration people on my way into the country though :)
The immigration officers also didn't like the fact that I had my medical records with me. I'm allergic to EVERYTHING and always take my medical records with me on trips due to that.

Dunno, the whole group is restructuring. I expect they'll stay in DTM. VW are stopping Dakar to go into WRC at the expense of Skoda (I suppose Skoda will stop). Not sure if they'll carry on with SEAT in touring cars, they that cut back to customer status a while ago.
I think IndyCar has been courting them and there was this whole engine rules thing in F1 basically because of them.
I can't see anyone other than Joest running it.
They ran Porsches for years before Audis so it is a natural fit.
