The football is taking a rest day today, but there should be some great tennis action, with a post coming up later for it...
- We do have some F1 news though. Kubica is ready to commit to Renault, Red Bull are cautious about their Silverstone Prospects, Pirelli promise to be aggressive and Alonso has apologised for his remarks, claiming he did an 'Anthony Davidson'.
- In blog news, Dank has written a couple of great posts, Pressdog has interviewed my favourite lady racer, Christine has been telling a Toy Story, Jon has been interviewing for The Feeder Series, while Lukeh has written about the European Grand Prix and has made the grade (well done mate!)

- Finally, I have been following the story about the alleged Russian espionage case in the USA and have been reading about a process called Steganography. It's cool how you can hide messages in pictures!

Seeing that McLaren keep their cars it makes me sad to see that other teams don't treat them quite the same. I saw pictures of either the 2004 or 05 Renault in this years colours and with last years rear wing.
It actually makes me want to find out where all the championship winning cars are. :D

The mp4/4 was the 1988 car. 15 wins from 16 races. The 4/5 and 4/5b followed that up with championships with the Honda v12. Sensational

I like the yellow and black, but nothing beats the yellow and blue they used. I have a picture of it on my wall, thats how much I love that car.

You know, the first 3.5l after the turbos. That was they grerat thing about the 4/4, it was the last turbo, and it still beat the normally aspirated cars.

So Mr C did you see that the iPhone 4 is using Helvetica Neue rather than boring old Helvetica (apparently because there are better low-res hinting versions of traditional Helvetica available for the older models). But now they can properly render Helvetica Neue on the Retina display they can switch to it. Of course this made me think... How soon until we see the end of "screen fonts"?

Oooh fight. The thing is that Microsoft hammer the fonts into the shape of the pixels. Apple blur the fonts to, as far as they are concerned "be truer to the font", and as far as most normal people are concerned "make them blurry".
But in the end fonts will be the same as they are printed. Why don't I have a 300 dpi monitor yet? This iPhone changes your outlook completely everything looks rubbish after.
I dunno. I still prefer books - not a fan of magazines, but books are grand

microsoft have invested in making a reader friendly collection of screen fonts from top designers. apple don't even have an italic version of their primary operating system font 10 years after it's introduction. they are hopeless at typography.

The italic thing is terrible. For fun they have forgotten to include Helvetica Neue Italic on the iPhone 4. So if you use System.italic you don't get italic anymore. Idiots.

CFD is awesome for things like that. Things you can never do by conventional mean. A lot of fuel injection systems, exhaust valve ports etc are designed on CFD to optimise the gas flow

I don't have a picture of it - I took one of the 1993 McLaren instead (it's kinda the centrepiece).
My dad took one or two when they had F1 cars at Te Papa but he wasn't supposed to take pics, so I guess we shouldn't use them either, right?
MP4/4 looks pretty unique because there is no airbox above the driver's head and the engine cover is very low
Silly McLaren didn't they realise the confusion having all these cars the same colour would cause.

It's the National Museum of New Zealand, it's in Wellington and they had a sorta- F1 exhibit about two years ago..

Cool. I tend to ignore the manufacturer stands, maybe I should check one out. Especially if it is very hot.. or raining. :) And given the prices Goodwood's own vendors charge..
Any tips for getting cheap stuff? Like hats and t-shirts? I shouldn't get anything, but I probably will.

I tend not to wear caps often but I started collecting them because they're cheaper and smaller than the 1/18 cars. I'd quite like some more t-shirts or polo shirts but often they're either rubbish or too expensive. My only decent one (Williams) is getting old and tatty now. :(
