It's another Friday and that means another Daily thread from yours truly today. Although things are a little different today as I sit next to Lou, watching over my every word making sure I'm giving you is top quality. Actually she's sitting on the bed playing/shouting at Monopoly on my iPod but shh. Anyways today is an awesome day as the Goodwood Festival of Speed starts today and we will be there!! WOO!! Although there was a moving motorsport yesterday but that is a fake day, where people move. In motorsport. Fun times! Anyways, time for my favourite companion since the Doctor's friends - the bullet points.
- So yesterday the big Formula 1 chiefs met together to discuss stuff as FOTA and talk about stuff. It was generally full of stuff apparently. Some of the biggest names in Formula 1 attended including Martin Whitmarsh, Tony Fernandes and of course, Leigh O'Gorman. I found it all a little pointless as did many in the dedicated thread here on Sidepodcast - why have a chat about their warped version of reality with us fans knowing it won't happen? We all know what Formula 1 needs anyways - more Rubens. I'm very unsure about this meeting really but remember to jump over to it's dedicated thread to discuss the FOTA Fan Forum Fun For Fursday.
- So Jenson Button yesterday had a seat fitted for his drive at Goodwood this weekend. Jenson will be driving Alain Prost's McLaren on Saturday in which I'm sure he will love doing so. According to Lou, Jenson likes Prost but McLaren play up his fandom a bit because of how much Lewis likes Senna. If you ask me, if Jenson wanted to drive a legendary car that has been driven by a hero of his, then he should be driving last year's Brawn GP car but with the number 23 on it. Ahem.
- So we could be getting another awful looking race track from Spain added to the calendar in the future thanks to a new track proposition from Mallorca... or Majorca... or My Yorkie... whatever it's called. This would be another Spanish track if added to the calendar, what with Catalunya and Valencia already on the calendar. What would it be then? The Island GP? The Medditeranen GP? The Tilke Didn't Design This One GP? Let us know your feelings on the mystery Majorca announcement. Although I've never been there on holiday anyways, but we should definitely get to work on the Butlins GP if this race is going to be near some holiday sites.
I think that's enough for one day, it would be fair to say the distractions have been evident throughout writing this daily. Not that I blame anyone who has been sitting nearby me, ahem. No it was because of Location Location Location Location Location Location Location on Channel 4. Silly show. If you're going to Goodwood then please come and say hello to both Lou and I as we tour the grounds/stalk Jenson. I'm sure it'll be a fantastic weekend so I hope everyone else has a fantastic friday and a fantastic weekend!
a great post from keith sutton: http://suttonimages.wordpress.com/2010/07/01/life-thru-the-lens-lifes-a-beach/
wow - Friday!!
Mr C
while I'm still awake, I'll try to do a text Fans/FOTA thing for you
i saw your video, good stuff. what's the text thing?
I read My Yorkie and immediatly thought of Dwight Yorke. I watch too much football.
See you all tomorrow for it.
"If you ask me, if Jenson wanted to drive a legendary car that has been driven by a hero of his, then he should be driving last year's Brawn GP car but with the number 23 on it. Ahem."
best line ever :)
ooooh, i'm gonna miss it!
Brazil v Holland was worth getting exciting for 30 years ago, not today.
i'm doing a post for the website rather than the video, so i thought i may pass it to you if you were interested - it'll be quite short (for once)
noted :)
i'll just catch up with the comments then!
cool. can do.
Evening folks.
good evening jim
Let it be known that there is a least one Tifosi out there that doesn't think Valencia was a "travesty". The result was less than optimal, but I think enough stuff has gone our way that one instance where we get screwed is far from the end of the world.
i like that attitude :)
Believe me, I've been completely ashamed of how Domenicali and Di Montezemelo have been acting about this. I'm just glad that Fernando came out and admitted that his emotions got the best of him.
Luckily I rarely have to worry about Felipe, he's usually happy go-lucky
i don't think it's been that bad. i like angry ferrari. luca had a day to calm down a bit, so maybe he went OTT.
i guess another tv bit the dust on sunday, but i don't think the much to be ashamed of.
he's been the model driver. he got screwed way more than alonso, hardly a word from him.
I concur. He has his moments, still being bitter about '08 for one, but overall, he's really been a gem to have in the paddock in terms of attitude.
hehe. from the renault blog: http://www.renaultf1.com/local/cache-vignettes/L650xH980/1_en-4-4819e.jpg
LOL, poor poor Schumi... It's really getting sad to see Michael on the grid. It reminds me a lot of when Jordan came back to play for the Wizards. He was a shadow of himself and outclassed due to rust and age.
Hello all
Hiya Joe
evening/morning joe.
croftie likes cake: http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10eur468.jpg
fact.
evening, it is. Is there as "Aside" coming soon?
'bout 20mins sir.
awesome, my brother is now a faithful follower of Joe. Maybe he could start his own religion
wow, you have to tell joe that :)
Good idea, I sent Christine an e-mail with a little note about Joe's audience which we were in, I included a picture of Joe and I, I may need to resend it. But you convinced me to go ahead and buy the tickets and trust Joe to be a good enough speaker to entertain my brother, who's new to F1. You were right, he was enthralled, as was I
i like cake too. fact.
cool, didn't know that.
that's made my day.
of note, we've paid for tickets to goodwood and to see joe next week, but not to go to the silverstone grand prix. joe is better value than bernie and all them drivers put together :)
do you make an awesome face when you see cake too?
Glad I could help. I asked Joe if he has seen hide nor hair of Peter Winsor since the USF1 debacle, he related the story of USF1 in his own biting commentary, but never really touched on if Peter is persona non grata in F1 circles. Could you find out?
can give it a go, certainly. am pretty sure he's not allowed a paddock pass, but will check.
Only for black forest or white chocolate and raspberry :D
*makes note*
a quick #sorryamy in preparation for the release of a new aside show...
...it is less than an hour though.
Whats a black forest?
it's a dark place full of trees.
or this: http://www.foodireland.com/recipes/Dessert/bforest.gif
Ah, yea that doesn't look half bad. I'm a plain yellow cake guy myself but I'd eat that.
Red velvet cake is very good as well
ooh, that's a new one on me.
Red velvet cake
http://drop.io/sidepodcast/asset/6a00d8341c6d1d53ef00e54f791f608834-800wi-jpg
thefithdriver once posted a black forest gateau that was for lunch at the mtc. must get a job there.
ping: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/07/02/an-aside-with-joe-lets-approach-it-in-a-sensible-way-and-have-bruce-willis-wandering-on-the-grid/
i have seen red velvet cupcakes and they look good but ive never tried it. must give it a whirl one day.
A guy at my Fire Dept has a friend at the Bubble Room Rest. From time to time she drops a few slabs of cake off with us....it is heaven
have i missed who's doing the football post for tomorrow?
yay new joe! and for the first time in 9 weeks i am not working saturday so i can spend the day getting stuck in to it.
i must sleep now. there is no way in hell i'll be up in time to go to goodwood. doh!
you don't happen to be a firefighter for NASA, do you?
Joe is a firefighter in Florida but not for NASA
It is lunchtime and all this talk of cake earlier is sending me on a cake hunt. Apparently there is a cake shop at the market but i've never noticed one there, time to find it!
Cake fail, they don't sell by the slice and i'm not prepared to pay $30 for a whole one :D
talking NASA, (some) shuttles to continue flying in 2011
Morning :)
Whoever writes the football thread needs to include this article about how Twitter has changed how the World Cup has been reported: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/jamespearce/2010/06/the_twitter_world_cup.html
morning everyone,
PING -->
Formula 1 Fans / FOTA Forum: http://wp.me/pSi0N-eb
what? and why?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/redbullf1spy/sets/72157624404082654/
are you volunterring? :)
i'll do it in a sec. have given up all hope of getting to goodwood before closing anyhow.
side effect from that Valencia flyover and hard landing ?
Are you still up??
Or is it that you got up early? I'm very confused. Probably not as confused as you though :)
What the....?!!!! How very random
I'm gonna guess that was what this meant: https://twitter.com/redbullf1spy/status/17519470344
I can do the World Cup post, if that helps.
Morning. Still getting used to the earlier start and doing lots more work, hoping Friday brings a nice slow day. Someone left the boardroom skylight windows open last night (they were still using it after I left), this morning the table was covered in water and the carpet is soaked...
For the next viral?
Oooops. Really badly?
no went to sleep sometime around... err... 3am? no energy to go to goodwood though. sidepodcast ruined me.
Not really though. Editing Joe could have waited.
until saturday? not really.
Yeah! 5mm of water in places and the table is warping even more badly than it was before (and it was already because this has happened before..). The little pot for pens was full of water!
We can't open the windows to help dry it because it is still raining
Well maybe I could have done it. The whole point of downshifting is so you can do more of what you want.
Break out the Red Bull and get a half day out of it?
excellent.
*goes back to bed*
And then report back, with photos!
If energy drink bribery won't work, how about a guilt trip? #Amytactics
You'll be letting Lou and Lukeh down.
I missed another episode of Glee. That's three in a row. Booo.
Thusday night is a silly night for tv
I guess I am doing the World Cup post then.
Wimbledon ping: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/07/02/wimbledon-2010-day-11/
no i'll do it.
am suitably exhausted to make it hilarious
ohh. who nciked my ipad?
Oops. I mighta been using your iPad.
Busted.
I don't know, but my mind is blown!
Is Christine really talking to herself? :-)
It does happen, although usually not so publicly :)
theres no need to watch things when they are actually on! #MFC
As long as you're not arguing with yourself then you should be OK ;)
Excellent. Although I may need to be ark out the laptop.
Stupid flash video
naively believed it is OK to turn the air-con off. it was OK, for about 3 minutes ...
we got on the wrong train.... maybe lukeh doesnt do planning after all. we can see all the comments but if mr c does come to goodwood and doesnt see us remember my number :)
morning folks
i'll meet you on the way out i think.
now would be a good time to admit there's no hope in hell i'm ever going to make it to spa... right? not in 2010, unless i get fired and we close down the website, anyhow.
boo :(
i'm sure if you ask lukeh nicely, he'll bring you back a schuey cap
;)
Lou, Speedhunters is asking for photographers to submit motorsport or car photos for guest posts: http://speedhunters.com/archive/2010/07/01/july-editorial--art-attack-mode-engaged.aspx
You should TOTALLY go for this!
I hope yuo remembered your camera.
Mclarens, Lou, Mclarens!!
Not even a long weekend in the vicinity of Spa? It is a Bank Holiday weekend, take Friday off and drive over then, we can meet after practice for dinner and beers then you've got the weekend to do what you want.
SPC is allowed to be dormant for a day or two and you have self-publishing guest writers now anyway...
Hi
hi pat,
how are you today?
Ping: http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/07/02/couch-2-5k-part-1-of-3/
mystery solved ? theviralfactory.com already sending emails around promoting the video of the early morning Webber's pitstop in London, asking for it to be posted on websites. so, as someone suggested here earlier - it was just the latest viral ...
Is it just me or does The Viral Factory sound like a place you really wouldn't want to go?
ping: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/07/02/2010-fifa-world-cup-day-20/
that's why they come to you :-)
Doesn't sound that appealing either :)
Not a hint of tiredy grumpiness at all :)
sure thing, why not. just don't be mad at me when it comes to the day of departure if i'm still in bed.
my point is, i didn't know last week i would be this busy today. why pretend i have any idea what it'll be like in a month or two. i don't even know where i'll be working then.
much better to lower expectations and not let anyone down i think.
;)
the guy sending the mails is called Vincenzo
Goodwood's fault for not selling tickets on the door. You could have gone tomorrow instead.
we need Joe to do an Evening in Belgium, so you don't need to talk to him that week, so you don't need to edit. :D
ooh. apparently i can this year. they're going collect at the gate.
i can't afford it, but that's not their fault. credit to them.
Ah ha! Good on them.
i don't think he's going to, if i'm honest. he said the next one is singapore.
heheh I thought as much. that works for me though :D
Very tired after metaphorically running around all week. How's you?
Oh. I thought you'd taken the day off.
Fair enough then.
Me too. I am so enjoying my Friday evening glass of red.
I'll be joining you in.... 8 or 9 hours time
Yay for +10 GMT
Morning all, How are we all?
I need your help in answering a question that's been going through my head all week.
Which sports happen on some sort of track where you have to get from one point to another as fast as possible taking the quickest route, e.g motorsport, luge, skeleton. what else?
Downhill mountain bike? Or skiing for that matter
BMX too. And track cycling
ok, now, kidding aside, I checked view campaigns of that viral factory website and I am not sure if should laugh or cry ...
ooh yes good shout
knackered - dieing of a cold and enjoying the delights of a throbbing headache - other than that, fine
:)
hi jon
Hi. See above/below ;) Wondering why I'm hungry already. I think it is time for tea and a biccie.
Tour de France and similar. Swimming.
And maybe running! I am an expert now, after all. :)
How did I miss that the Eagles are coming to town? I want to go!
Come on, I thought you were downshifting? Should we all cancel now because we can't update our blogs and criticise BBC over that weekend? ;)
*will be staying here to criticize BBC for everyone else*
Come now, we are perfectly capable of criticising the BBC whatever country we're in.
If you come to Belgium you may get to do it in person ;)
this Nico guy does not sound too happy:
I
Aww poor Britney!
Yes! And there's more of that later in the year, Commonwealth Games are on.
I can't tell from this picture, but there had better be nine of them. http://twitpic.com/21qg1s
Why?
Because there are meant to be nine of them.
What if one of the pilots is sick?
DON'T!
Sorry :(
http://sidepodcast.com/2007/07/02/sunday-goodwood-fos-2007/
That picture makes me want to cry.
You'd think they would have a reserve
Looks like there's just 8 of them. But to ensure they're running symmetrically, the other guy is running at the back rather than at the side.
It does look like 8. I can't see the 9th at all but they do break away from time to time to set up the next move.
I was hoping it might be hiding behind another one. Who wants to see 8 Red Arrows? Stoopid.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/glediator/4754791908/
NOOOOO.
You mean him?
Oops, wrong year. :D
Actually, that's a bloody good point, and I agree with you 100% there. It just looks silly...
A nice VivaF1 post showing maps of Silverstone over time - http://www.vivaf1.com/blog/?p=4014
Click the images and there are notes.
ooh I love posts like that!
just a quick comment to say lukeh has a new bbf and his name is bruno senna. hehe :)
Hah :D
How many Red Arrows were there?
I'm having a sneaky look at Twitter over lunch. Saw this from @fosgoodwood (official Goodwood a/c):
#FOS Only eight Red Arrows flying today because one pilot is ill. Hope she feels better tomorrow!
I have never been more glad not to be somewhere!
There is a photo.. you may not want to look..
http://twitpic.com/21qc7n
$&%*
$&%*
$&%*
$&%*
$&%*ing hell
sorry lou and lukeh there's no way in the world i can make it. just spent 2 hours sat nose to tail in traffic. i hate this $&%*ing country.
no-one agree to meet up with me ever again, ya hear?
Kill me!
They could use some clever IT-Types in Denmark, you know...
That does look a bit asymmetrical
i'm never leaving my desk again
Is there no alternative types of transport to goodwood?
Indeed. Looks funny!
Helicopter.
Oh.
It may take Amy levels of planning to get there. Maybe I should start now.
Train to Chichester, there may be a shuttle bus but I'm not sure, I always drive. There's always a big queue of traffic around Chichester's ring-road with people trying to get in, can't say I'd have expected it on the Friday though. And that traffic might be elsewhere.
i wasn't even within a hundred miles of chichester.
anyway, i'll leave you lot to it and go be mad somewhere else.
ah thats a shame mr c. a return bus service from the station is 4.50 in case you wanted to know. i have made lukeh carry the present i have for you in his bag. hopefully we' ll meet up soon.
Blue Angels are better.
#justsayin' ;)
Webber takes on the questions this time round: http://www.formula1.com/news/interviews/2010/7/10978.html
Q: Name five things that you hate?
MW: People that lie, people that drive under the speed limit, people that snore loads on planes and people that are unreliable. That’s about it. I am not big hater.
I dunno, that sounds like a lot of people to hate.
I assume thats sarcasm. Am sure at least every person in the world has done one of them...
I have done three of those at one point or another.
Just the two, since I can't sleep on planes or drive, yet.
Those are things that you don't want to combine...
"Once I was so tired when I was taxiing my plane to the runway that I started falling asleep, my co-pilot didn't even notice that I was driving so slowly as to be almost stationary, but he did notice my snoring. He reported me to the civil aviation authority for being so unreliable. Not really... I hope you enjoy your flight today, we'll be cruising at an altitude of..."
I've had enough of this working week now, can I go home?
Aha, I've found out how to make lots of money: Write a theme tune to a show which gets sold around the world.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment_and_arts/10475601.stm
Work done, hooray!
Off for Episode 2 of 'Get my car door handle fixed'...
Yo! Mr. C! Were you on your way to goodwood today ??! heh... I was there before 8! :-) (only took me 30 mins!) but left fairly early at 1.45 -ish as I wanted to watch the football... plus saw most things on thursday.. and my sd card was full already with pics, so that made me think it was time to go home... didnt bump into lou or luke though.. i think they were too busy stalking driver / minor celebs?!?
Good evening, I am now extremely glad to be home. :)
Last call... http://toomuchracing.com/2010/06/30/tmr-game-week-23/
Hello!
Hello both of you
Had a fun day?
Hi, good day?
Hey ho kidlings.
Double "HI"!!!
evening
it was awesome! Lukeh has a new best friend and we found out that Jake is actually really really tall..
we're both exhausted though. Didn't even get to see the rally or posh bit.. lucky we have the next two days.
It's so hot though, and i'd like to second Mr C's 2007 statement asking for a ski lift.
Sir Stirling was there too :) but it was sad to see him in a wheel chair tbh :(
Hey lou/lukeh and TM
Tour de France preview ITV4 now, if you like that sort of thing
There is a tractor that will take you to the top of the hill on a trailer from about half way up. You have to be on the same side of the track as the rally stage though
(lukeh) Bruno is my bestest friend forever, lou has a photo of him and myself!!! He is the best (after rubens)
(and jenson)
Ghana vs Uruguay preview on ITV1. Mush more my thing
but it takes sooo long.
We were looking for Ant all day, am not very sure he was there today.
and now Lukeh is watching football
Did Lou manage to spend a whole day at Goodwood without any celebs being punched
Bruno means too much to Lukeh for him to punch him.
although tomorrow i'm aiming to get pics of Jenson.. a pic with Jake.. and maybe crofty and ant. there is plenty of time.
it's so hot i bought a huge pack of ice.. and i'm not kidding :( however time for dinner. back later.
Have fun
Evening all!
Evening
That's because I wasn't there! ;)
Hi Chris
That will be why she didn't meet any Buttons
From @Motorsportprint:
RT @JHKarting: 1 ticket for Goodwood tomorrow, free to a good home. Please RT, let's not let it go to waste!
I don't imagine that will last long
they weren't there!! (i did look though)
:D
Hey guys. Did you get my Twitter message?
Lukeh tricked me though and shouted 'look!! Ant!!' and i totally fell for it.. he's so mean to me.
i didn't get one, will get Lukeh to check his.
I bet every time he sees an an he does that
Yeah, I left it on Lukehs. Annoyingly, you can't send a DM to two people, and I didn't want to spam you guys :_
To be fair we saw a spitting image of Ant. It was like a clone. But less Ant.
Dec? ;)
If any of you see Ant this weekend you have to call him Dec.
:D
:D
I got your DM, we'll be meeting lou's mum for lunch so I reckon we'll be free in the afternoon sometime. Unless it all goes catastrophically of course. Do you need my number at all? Will DM it you to let you know when we can go Button bashing
you can tell when lukeh types... he uses caps... and abuses the Button family..
sounds good to me! I'll DM mine as well
:D Just start abusing Barrichello...or Senna!
i think he has a thing for brazillian drivers... his face after meeting Senna was such a picture! lol
i just found out that Crofty is gonna be there tomorrow!!!! wohoooooo!!!!
i may or may not have thousands of pics of Senna though... he's more good looking in real life.
oooh and i've also figured the best way to get pics of drivers... i have loads of Adrian Newey in the Red Bull!
Sounds like you have had fun. Adrian was given the car he was driving as a present by RBR. I think there are only telling him that so he won't stuff it
Crofty and Dec are doing commentary for Sky so look out for any Sky trucks or the like
1) They are my brazilian boys
2) We spent ages today looking at a commentary box wondering where Crofty was
3) senna is awesome. and a very handsome young man.no caps in this point, so lou must be typing this one. ahem.
4) You ran after Adrian Newey!!!!
:D
it's actually a brilliant way of getting pics.. *plans to do the same for Jenson tomorrow*
eeekkk!
Don't you just get wobbly pics of the back of their heads though if you are running after them?
What did Senna say? Or you say to him?
His head is that way for aerodynamic reasons #Neweyfact
Adrian got the RB5 as a present. RBR are desperate to keep him
http://www.autosport.com/news/grapevine.php/id/84942
I just asked him how he felt about HRT going forward and he said he hoped the team would produce afaster car soon but he was happy, and then I mentioned Karun and he said how good the two get on and how nice the f1 fans are embracing them
nooooo. it's when they return to the paddock. take pics of them as they arrive (newey stopped right in front of us) then as they turn away run back through the crowd and meet them at their garage. You get to the front of two queues and get some great shots of them getting out of the cars. Problem is you have to choose a driver you can't do it for them all. So tomorrow i'll be running after Jenson if i can..
Cool, he's a nice guy.
I just smile at famous people with no idea what to say.
I see so you can get one driver from each run. SO F1 normally does 2 runs a day so you can get 2 tomorrow and 2 Sunday if you are lucky
Some are driving historic F1, not current, so be aware of that. Time management at Goodwood is surprisingly difficult.
yep, not so interested in getting panning shots tbh, i can practise that at Brands and things. Am more interested in the people this time :D
The last time I was there Lewis and one of the other F1 drivers decided to do their second run straight after lunch because they had to be somewhere else. I was right up the top of the hill and the first I knew about it was when the commentator said next up Lewis Hamilton.
good point! i'm gonna look through the time table later as based on the train situation this morning i'd feel more confident if i did it rather than Lukeh :P
This is a good point. I don't know about you but normally I want to be trackside for the F1 runs, but this year we're going to Spa and we'll see F1 cars at proper speed. On the other hand they are at a more manageable speed at GW and they are different cars.
Good idea. I guess it is hard to do panning shots whn people keep stopping to spin their wheels. Maybe you should try to find one of the places they always do wheel spins or donuts and try and get some smoke patterns
Rule 1 Get on the right train
I think the choice is whether to get a good trackside location or miss the run and wait in the paddock.
I hate missing things but the FoS is such that you're guaranteed to always be missing things.
oooh -err.. i hope that doesn't happen. Although today there was alot of confusion as the second run consisted of two red bulls, where as the morning run had only contained one. i think we both did a double take
Red Bulls everywhere today. Joe said they were at parliament as well early this morning
http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2010/07/02/you-have-to-get-up-early-to-beat-red-bull-racing/
it's hard to find the right place to stand tbh.. i mean near the paddock is really heard to get shots... so ideally you need to be at the top of the hill or on the banking.
I think i may station myself near the paddock. Maybe start at the holding bay place, then run to the side of the track for their run up the hill then run into the paddock for when they return. based on today though i'm pretty sure i'll end up loosing Lukeh for a bit as i run through the crowd :)
oooh we also saw the brawn <3
well it's the brawn in the merc livery... but tomorrow apparently it's going up the hill!! i get to see the brawn in action again!! :D
Lukeh hates the idea of it.. but i'm never excited as i can ignore the livery :)
You need to get gps so you can track each other
:D
I've been here too long... I read that as grand prixs...
The livery is improved I think.
:D
Right. I'm off to grab some food. Back soon!
i'm going to ignore that.
are you calling the paddock the bit with the awnings or the bit where the cars queue up before leaving for the bottom of the hill?
the latter is the better place to stand and where they do all the tv interviews.
Sky's looking quite red..
I hear the forecast for Sunday is rain, I don't want to go to Goodwood in the rain
it was forcast for rain today too... and it was soooo humid. no rain though. The manufacturers stuff seems much better this year (and slightly reorganised so there are places you could shelter if it does.
We had spots but no more. Will attempt to remember brolly. Anything you've noticed is a bit pants and worth avoiding?
That was always something that was lacking at Goodwood. THey need to think more about that
nothing jumps out.. Lukeh says avoid the mercedes.. but nothing i can think of. Toyota did their pitstop challenge.. without the f1 car, they did it with a GT2 (lukeh says) car or something
it seems a bit reorganised this year. x2 bridges makes is slightly confusing but i think i like this layout better.
oooh actually, i found the moving motorshow 'shed' to be a bit.. erm.. disappointing.. it's just lots of cars.. although the ferraris were nice :)
The Mercedes stand? I reckon they'll have JB/LH interviews over the weekend. I'm not to bothered about that but you may be :)
Ooh where's the other bridge? It was badly needed.
i think he meant the brawn gp car..
I had a feeling it might be. I suppose this means they aren't in the courtyard any more.
Back
it's near the start line, we entered through the moving motorsport thing and it was just the other side of that.
Righto, ta. I usually come in the bottom entrance where the cars turn round. Will attempt another way if I can.
do you mean the style a lux place?
we didn't get a chance to go in their today, so i can't say...
but it's much more for people who may want to buy cars i think...very humid in their too..
the car park entrance seems different to last time, but we got the bus so i'm not sure..
That's the field with the jazz, just after that is a courtyard area rammed with people gawping at supercars which makes it impossible to see anything.. Hopefully they are all in the motorshow area now, it looks bigger.
ahhhh.. like where the bugatti is? i think that's still the same.. just 3 examples of each car... ferrari, toyota, mercedes.. honda... not amazing..
woo, IT Crowd!
There are a few car park entrances, I usually get sent the long way round because I get there fairly late...
I've no idea what's where this year :)
am off to watch it. back later, will hopefully have a post done by then... hmm..
oh it's interesting, i like it cause it feels like i've not been there before.. but like it feels familiar..
You are not going to let Lukeh see the penalties?
Robin Williams is on Jonathan Ross tonight
Oh wow, man's a legend
I guess he will be on last but it starts in ten minutes
as is Tim Minchin!! :)
May have it on mute til he appears, while I watch MotoGP Assen from last week. It was on last Saturday so it'll fall off iPlayer overnight I expect
He's brilliant too
he wanted to watch the IT crowd.
Typical Man U fan. ;)
i said that and he looked confused.
what's scaring me is that i can write random things about football... how long does it need to be?
Your post can be as long or short as you like. I checked the tennis post before mine and it was 400 words. Mine ended up around 500 but it is entirely up to you
TIMMMM MINCHINNN!!!!!!! :D :D :D
Heh, Karun:

hehehe i didn't notice that. Lukeh giggled... it's like a Mr c - Lewis bff thing here..
Anyone who likes Tim Minchin is alright in my book.
he's a legend.
How did he manage to break it again?

Evening
what goes on down in sidepodcast lane?
Night
I'm watching last week's MotoGP but without Rossi I'm rapidly losing interest
i saw part of the silverstone race - looked a bit patchy with so a small field
that's such a contrast from F1, as in people still are interested in the sport when there is one dominant rider, as opposed to f1, where things became dull when the same thing happened.
Lack of bikes, half of last year's good riders aren't there either because someone new has their ride or their ride no longer exists. And injuries. Not as much fun as it used to be.
I didn't mind Rossi doing a lot of winning because he was entertaining when doing it. Lorenzo winning all the time is just boring.
Rossi is winning all the time because of his ability. Schumacher went to Ferrari and in five years turned it round when he had every advantage possible. Rossi went to Yamaha with no advantage and won the first race and first championship.
I loved that.
Rossi isn't actually winning all the time this year. Once again he is mirroring Schumacher but doing it better. He's not as quick as he was and the younger challengers are now faster. This year was all about Rossi hanging on against them, not getting the results he used to have and was adapting, using his experience to beat them sometimes. Then he crashed and is out injured until August or something, that's ruined it.
I was stunned when he won that first race. Even taking Jerry Burgess and all that Honda knowledge I thought it would take him at least a couple of seasons to win on merit and he went straight out and won the championship immediately. Biggest mistake Honda ever made. THey owned that championship
