Ah, the daily post. Isn't the daily post lovely? This daily post is brought to you by the letter W. Followed by I-N and E. Yay! What can I tell you? It's been a long week. So, what kind of topics are on our minds this coming weekend? I know a lot of people are at Goodwood, but we are not. We are here, holding the fort, and thus we will be talking about other things. Like:
- Did anyone see that football game last night? Uruguay versus Ghana. I was cheering on Uruguay solely because of Forlan-man who was awesome. Even Steven said he was pretty good which means he was ace in my book. Apparently he plays for some Madrid team in real life though, so I don't imagine I'll get a chance to see him at any point other than the World Cup. So, whilst I'm sad that Ghana got kicked out, yay for Forlan-man. Also, look out for the World Cup post today as it is written by the rather fabulous Lou (and maybe a bit by Lukeh too).
- I've just finished watching last week's episode of Casualty. I don't care if you judge me on my choice of programmes (I judge myself for watching that episode - as if we are suddenly supposed to care that he thought he was going to die and then he wasn't going to and then he was chasing after her when she was marrying someone she just met at a conference about two minutes ago) erm... where was I? Oh yes, I was watching it on the iPad. An excellent way to consume the iPlayer, I think you'll agree. No Flash involved at all. Yay!
- And hey, I've been running! Not right now, obviously, because I'd probably do myself an injury. But I've been running and it's fun. Things I never thought I would say. A good excuse for a plug, though, and also, while I think of it, if you struggle to remember that Smarter Than what now nonsense, you can just use mrschristine.com instead. Good times.
- Finally, don't forget that the Character Cup for 2010 will be starting soon and we'll expect you all to vote. I already think I know who might win it, but I can't wait to find out how everyone else will be casting their votes. It should be starting soon, so stay tuned!
That should do it for now. There's football and tennis on today, and I think there is even some Superleague Formula happening again. It's all go for this early July weekend. Let us know what you're up to, and I will see you in the comments.
alkaseltzer, anyone?
It has definitely been a long week. I also have wine.
no wine, just strongbow :(
That is more than acceptable in hot weather.
I think to be fair it was Lukeh who said he was good although I wouldn't disagree. RG also mentioned that there were rumours of him signing for Spurs so he could be playing in England next season or in a few weeks if you prefer
Hello new daily, I may also be under the influence of WINE of the PINK kind. Weeeee
the best kind
Yay! That is the best kind.
Ooh, snap.
California Zinfandel has been my favourite. Usually drunk during the VivaF1 quiz.
I had a bottle of a beer called Old Thumper, quite strong, rather nice. Now I've got South African... white wine of some kind
:)
:D
I think it was mainly Pinot Grigio Blush but I know I brought a bottle of White Grenache so there was definitely something Californian in there :)

ping: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/07/03/nobody-in-formula-1-shoots-faster/
ughhhh... more lemsip for me - this rottenness continues abreast
is it lemsip max strength?
Oh No :( . If you have a sore throat 1 x tsp vinegar & 2 tsp honey in a mug of hot water is effective if not tasty
i only ask because it's the equivalent of taking 2 paracetamols
yes it is
Kill it with drugs.
No sore throats, but long-standing nausea and headaches now
Then I would suggest Lemon & Ginger or Peppermint for the nausea and lots of fluids for the headache, they are often caused by dehydration (especially if you have nausea & don't feel like ingesting anything) Hope you feel better soon.
Lover of fluids here - I normally have a few litres of water a day anyway, so that's not a problem right now
good evening sidepodpeople...
good evening guille
Hello
hi guille
Hello, how's you?
has anyone ever played any of the cake mania games? i.am.addicted.
fine, thanks. moving house this weekend, packing things (argentina playing tomorrow and good snow at the ski center don't help me ;-) )
you?
I have. I prefer Diner Dash though.
what on earth are you doing up at 1 am?
It's a good question. I don't really know.
I'm very drunk having had a good evening of gossip, wine & pizza with the girls. Am now drinking fruit tea to sober up before I fall into bed :)
sounds like something i should keep a wide birth from.
like warbears
I think I've heard that before... (from various friends, of course ;-) )
and you didn't live stream this?
Hm. Blog readership falling. Not as many readers as usual to the thing I wrote the other day. I must blog more often and not just do game stuff and race start times. Oh nuts I forgot the start times this week.
Only 5 of the regular 9 players of my game have entered this week...
Almost like there's some kind of message.
Goodnight peoples. I particularly like those who watched the Forlan penalty with me. Yay!
xx
Nice one. I had a bit of an odd but good evening. The Football and BBQ was good, then we went home and as I live near a colleague of mine I decided to travel home with her. She's Russian and 6 months pregnant and her husband was out of town tonight. The plan was for me to accompany her on the subway to her bike, walk with her and then she would tell me how to get the metro home. Sounded fine to me. It's certainly not the most direct route as I could get off the subway much earlier (but leave her by herself)
At the stop where I could have got off and left her by herself, this very 'out-of-it' man walks on and starts shouting, swearing and harassing the ladies on the train. Luckily (and this is why I love this country), another Danish guy stood up and basically told this man to stop, or he would make him. The sweary man shrunk to an inch tall and pretty much ran off the train.
Anyway, we get off at her stop, pick up her bike and walk along the water. I don't know the area well but we've been to her flat a few times for parties etc. She ends up walking me past her house and pretty much to the metro station where I need to go, probably as a way of saying thank you for staying on the train.
So yeah, something a bit different :)
Night. May your hangover be a mild one. ;)
Could be worse - no one ever reads mine
:)
Be careful where you plug your links BTW - some sites really don't like it...
I'm going to Ikea tomorrow. I'm telling myself I'm only allowed to buy a light shade and some bedding.
I read almost every post. Am I nobody? ;)
news. i'm telling ya, that's where the traffic is. something of a mugs game to get into though.
if there's anything we can do to help, please yell.
does our sidebar link, help you at all btw?
i done so today :(
Sleep well
I only plug them here and on Twitter.
sweet - maybe i should start putting that code into my posts again. soon the world will be mine..... (mwah ha ha haaaa)
who?
Heheh, I know that feeling.
night christine
yayyyyyyyyy
It's hard to tell if the links come from that sidebar, as Wordpress tends to tell me the address of whatever post was linked from rather than that place. If you follow it means I always have multilple links coming from Sidepodcast. But it's really nice to see anyway ;)
goodnight Christine
Good night
Hope your head is OK in the morning
I had a blog for a bit, about the stuff I was doing at work. I was amazed when some people did read it!
I'm not a reporter or a journalist. I watch stuff and tell people what I see, I don't even take notes any more, it felt too much like a job.
Thanks. It is up to me to write interesting stuff. I used to do 2 or 3 posts a week, some just a bit of video. Need to do that again. Game takes too much of my time.
Not true
sidebar link?
So are you writing just for people to read your posts then?
valencia race edit is up: http://www.formula1.com/video/race_edits.html
nothing new so far as i can see. worth a watch though.
Watch a replay of Valencia. Never seen that recommended before.
nope - i just write... stuff
Blessss Heikki. Break my heart, caring about other peoples.
I am going to bed. Honest.
:)
fom are doing really well on their race edits. i approve.
Then don't worry about it then ;)
Wordpress doesn't do my stats properly anyway, so now I just write when I feel like it. But World Cup and Outside are stopping me right now :)
for gavin, there's a link to his fantasy racers posts.
I always watch a replay. Doesn't everyone?
+1
#but_I_don't_care
but it is a really good game though.
Not normally...
good to know ta. would it help if it linked to the latest post instead?
aye - the stats on wordpress confuse the hell out of me
awww. that was sweet.
Very rarely now. BBC before ITV took the coverage used to show the race then late at night a 40 minute highlight program and I would never have dreamt of missing that. Now once the race is finished it is finished
I *think* it's actually showing up as links to the homepage. It's perfectly fine as it is - thanks again for linking to it :)
Thanks. I like it. Not many do but it is a niche thing I suppose. Wouldn't mind a faster more error-proof way of doing it.
i can't be bothered with them
hmmmm... this circuit chap that might be at joe's next friday; i wonder if it's the same guy i was talking to yesterday the redesigned the silverstone circuit
No. I watched it live.
Yes, but I normally watch a replay the next evening.
hmmm... so the 24 hour shop across the road from me is no longer 24 hours and closes at 1am - strange how there are now less drunks fighting on my street at now and when i get up in the morning, the streets are much cleaner...
Anyway must sleep as I am off tomorrow morning to Odense to go to my niece's birthday party - which I am missing the footy for :(
awesome. i like that it links to features, rather than blog homepages. i like features / series, we should add more links and encourage that.
Night..
agreed.
with the bbc now, there's so much analysis of the race at the end of it, and with the forum as well, there is little point in watching highlights. but there comes a point where you've seen enough #thanksmichael
night
night Gavin
A nice improvement.
indeed
Nice
Helio Castroneves and other Brazilian drivers and team members watching the Brazil v Holland match from Watkins Glen
:D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yv60iiysDp0&feature=player_embedded
At about 17 seconds in, there's a flying vevuzuela (sp?) and some bleeped out shouting, so I'm guessing that's when Holland scored...
:)
I should probably go to bed. Brain hasn't worked properly all day, am rather tired. Ta to SB for the (fairly old) podcast I've been listening to. I will catch up eventually.
from espn: http://en.espnf1.com/f1/motorsport/story/21825.html
Furthermore a new gearbox, only on Felipe Massa's car in Valencia, was adopted to raise the pick-up points of the lower wishbone, in order to keep it clear of the hot exhaust gas flow.
massa is getting upgrades before alonso? am surprise no fuss was made.

Something for the Weekend: Fad Gadget "Collapsing New People" - http://tinyurl.com/36ehw22
I read that somewhere else (Allen). I also thought it was a bit strange, but I guess it's the proof of Ferrari's new 'equality' (or they're using Massa's car as a test bed...)
i should read your blog more often.
i like the song.
do you know the song playing behind the presenter after?
i found it in my itunes library
Cheers
:)
The background is David Bowie I believe, but I'd have to check to be sure
china crisis - wishful thinking
i did think it was flock of seagulls at first though
just read the end. you might get a little surprise when you listen to the show. i gave you a mention.
I think the great shame about Fad Gadget is that because he contained himself as a cult artist, there's not a lot of good quality video material about with him
I know folks were watching "Truth in 24" in bits on youtube a while back. It's available in HD or SD free on iTunes.
one must get some sleep, i have a busy 48 hours coming up...
night all
only in the US, sadly...
night SB
see you SB
I may just get the DVD to be honest
...if it's available that is
also only in the US, sadly :-(
Gahhhh... Split regions - surely the most utterly pointless, ridiculous invention / measure in recent commercial media
I really don't get why on Earth you go on all the work of creating such a fine documentary for promotion, you release it for free on iTunes and even send DVD of it basically for free, and then you do it only in one country. It must be up there with the most s****d PR decisions ever
I doubt it's to do with PR, but more to do with the production company/distributor
probably. but is up to audi to pay for it.
errr.... whoops.
Sorry :(
I hate those stupid region idea, too.
don't worry, one 'can' get it from our friend the internet... (you didn't hear it from me ;-) )
shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
(there are spies everywhere....):o
heh, that's the first way I "got" it ;). Didn't find out it was free on iTunes until I said to myself "hey, I wonder if I can buy this!"
sorry... :P

Hey guys, just found this. http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/menu.htm
It was because Alonso is in the middle of a gear box cycle, so he would have incurred a penalty if they had changed it.
Morning peoples.
morning. hows the morning after the night before?
not so bad. Tired more than anything. And thirsty, which is annoying because the weather was having that effect already.
People screaming and calling jensons name is really scary.... not sure i am fond of crazy fans. seen holly samos tho.
I am watching a Bee Gees DVD. Don't let it be said I don't have awesome Saturday nights.
You must have Saturday Night Fever!
holly is awesome. i even got a pic with her :)
zing!
Here is your fact of the day: One of the songs they had on their final studio album was originally written for the Backstreet Boys, but the BSB never used it.
I am watching Legion, which isn a little less musical
yay. Have you met Jenson yet?
was she surprised you knew who she was? Everytime I've met radio people they've always seemed a little shocked.
lou, you should show croftie you banner with the USP cap, he'd love it :)
And tell him we said hi !!
that too.
is it too early to ask for a shoutout for Spa? ;)
:)
I am determined to get one at every race I go to this year.
all four? sheesh. i can't help with them cause i'm avoiding free practice these days.
then preparation is key. I like your attitude
boo, you are a good contact to have.
my two tactics are just simply being very very annoying and then guilt trips 'but you promised at breakfast that time!' although I don't think he did.
Goodnes me I have just seen the worst movie childbirth scene ever.
i guess i could tweet them without actually listening.
"amy's out there somewhere boys, say hi"
make sure to mention they're the only reason I shelled out the 50 euro for the kangaroo ;)
you'll have to remind me nearer the time.
you should pick seats near the commentary boxes, so you can wave at them.
sadly commentary boxes tend to be on the main straight and the main straight tends to be $$$$. Main straight in Singapore is almost twice what I paid for my already very expensive ticket elsewhere, main straight is 4 figure territory which is just silly.
ahh. breakfast stalking it is then.
I need more tips on breakfast spots from Stuart C, his Melbourne tip was 100% correct :D
Worked for me, and I wasn't even trying!
spa must be easy, there's nothing around for miles and miles/
they probably all sponge off the teams and eat in the paddock. Stalking won't work there :(
Another Film Watch post: http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/07/03/film-watch-61-lethal-weapon/
The Bee Gees are over. I don't know who to watch now.
i got a pic with holly! she is awesome. no sight of crofty or ant. have shaken karuns hand, come face to face with rosberg and sam bird and tried out a new camera. today is a good day :)
i feel a sense of deja vu
i feel like i have abandoned jenson. its so hard to get near him :(
I am now watching Nick and norahs infinite playlist which has more music, but I am not sure I would recommend it
my other music dvds are pearl jam, backstreet boys, iron maiden and metallica. My taste in music is a little varied.
that is a bunch I never thought I would see together
did you rent one?
i fear i have lost my ipad forever.
you just thought it was yours.
christine is using: http://culturedcode.com/things/
:(
want.
Is that the most expensive app ever?
afternoon everyone
oh my, do not want at that price!
well:
£45 for the desktop
£11 on the ipad
£6 on the touch
it better be useful!
you're looking at the desktop price, but you kinda need all versions to make the most of it.
For anyone interested, practice at Watkins Glen for this weekend's IndyCar race is starting on indycar.com in a few minutes
:)
what times the race on sunday, chap?
I use Google Tasks just because it was an app on Jolicloud :D
I *think* it's 8.30pm (BST)
i don't need a task list ;)
cool.
I think I would get too scared if all my tasks were in a list
Yep - Sky Sports 4 coverages starts at 8.30, so green flag should be about 15 minutes after that I think
This will also be the IndyCar debut of GP2 / A1GP favourite, Adam Carroll
It is way expensive but I'm currently working off at least four different paper lists, and maybe two online ones.
Things keep slipping through the gaps so I need a solution.
where is el Wimbledon post? Final is starting!
Why is the stupid cricket still on my tv?!
i wrote it ages ago: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/07/03/wimbledon-2010-day-12/
I fail without pings :( Did it ping? I fail with my eyes :(
It went up at about 10, so we woulda been sleeping and not pinging.
oohhh makes sense. I will keep my eyes peeled tomorrow then :D
After mr c's last two sports posts, I suspect he won't be watching le tour de France......
can i make it shorter?
Tour de just one road in France.
:)
I know the perfect sport for Mr C, speedway. 15 heats lasting one and a bit minutes.
(ignoring the fact it takes 2-4 minutes between each heat and after crashes it can take 10-15 to clear up...and it lasts 2 hours in time)
once around the champs elysees?
brilliant. i'd totally watch that.
w00t!
oh
Hmm. There appears not to be any Superleague this weekend. I could have sworn there was some at Oschersomethingorother. They must have cancelled it.
Oh Milka, Milka, Milka, Milka....
(can anyone guess my woes..?)
Umm, how? http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/84966
she crashed already?
and michael is driving like ralf in f1. suspicious.
slowly spun around 360 degree through a 2nd/3rd gear corner and then... lurch... stalled
Oh, ricciardo won another one.well done lad
yikes... closes eyes - haven't seen it yet
Oh woops, sorry. Didn't know there was any coverage.
MotorsTV
Indycar -
BIG crash for Visa
he's out, he's OK
http://twitpic.com/222679/full
wow
Basically, Viso went wide approaching the fast chicane and took to the run. When turn back on the track, he hit a clump of grass that dislodged part of his front wing and trapped under the car. With the still driving, but with no steering control, Viso ploughed head first into one barrier, before ricocheting across the track and slamming into the second barrier and then coming to a stop.
ooh, is it not an oval race this weekend then?
Nope - Five straight road/street circuits, before the calendar finishes off with four ovals
awesome. haven't seen indy on a road course i don't think.
Although some races are locked into certain parts of the year, they've tried to lump the ovals together and street/road courses together as much as possible
jarno is such a grumpy so and so. am not at all impressed.
Watkins Glen is nice - apparent from the obvious safety features, it hasn't changed much since F1 was last there
oh???
He must be missing having Timo as a team mate...
feud: the sequel
trulliometer is low today then
he waved his arms at the crowd to dismiss them. very very rude. the people beside us said he has done that to them 4 times today...not cool.
sounds like fisi during our first goodwood. miserable italians.
next time you see him, tell him i said his wine tastes like wee ;)
IndyCar:
So the top 6 in Saturday morning practice were Briscoe, Power, Dixon, Castroneves, Andretti, Franchitti
Also Sato (10th), Patrick (16th), Carroll (18th), de Silvestro (22nd), Duno (very last)
Oh you devilish sir
I GOT A PHOTO WITH JENSON! ! ! ! OH MY GOD!
you've become a crazy screaming fan!
noooo i havent. he signed for the whole line and before i knew it he was next to me so i asked for a picture :) we are off to find crofty. goodwood is ace :)

massa is getting upgrades before alonso? am surprise no fuss was made. {Comment #101}
Turns out that Massa' used the same gearbox for the last 4 races and Alonso hasn't. It caught me by surprise too because I thought Alonso was due a new gearbox in Silverstone and Massa the race after that...
Am I the only person who can't see who's said what? On Firefox, I get

Yes. It's being fixed right now.
IndyCar:
OK - in case anyone is wondering, qualifying for IndyCar at Watkins Glen starts at 6.15pm (BST) and is live from indycar.com
For those wondering about the match late, qualifying finishes just after 7pm, so there should be no run-over

Why am I doing my tax return at 2.24am?
Because you love it!!
I just really want my refund before I go on holiday :D
I have had to stop because none of my data is in the system yet. Boo.
did he break his steering of something? why isn't he trying turn out of that?
I think something lodged underneath the car when he hit the kerb
i see one of the wheels are off the ground, but he's not event attempting to steer or brake?
hmmmm... didn't notice that to be honest - how odd...
I wonder if the front suspension broke. There's a big flash of sparks about midway between him going over the grass and hitting the wall.
ahh, could be. do the cars have rear brakes though? there still should have been some slowing, no?
Whatever broke, I'm certain it happened when he clumped the grass kerb
Tthey do but most of the braking is done by the front.
yeah. He could steer after he went over the first kerb.
on an unrelated matter - dinner time!!
http://twitpic.com/223u7a
Indycar.com loaded - drivers are getting ready
:)
Just watched today's F2 race from Portimao - spent the time wondering "why?"
Interview with Viso on indycar.com
The entire floor under the car dislodged!!
hey all! :D
hey lou + lukeh
;)
how's goodwood?
helllo
evening
oh.my.god. it's been an awesome day. bit sunburnt, very tired and full of aches and extremely dusty.. but we had a good time.
Although we have more proof that the outside is bad. I've got hayfever and a cough, lukeh has a bad headache (although that's cause he got really sunburnt)..
Indycar:
C'MON ADAM CARROLL!!
:D
we never found Ant or Crofty :'( *sniff* we looked and we looked.. but there weren't around. Crofty is doing an interview with Heikki tomorrow though : D
OK - I swear the commentator just said Adam Carroll was from Northern Irowa........?
you've found the media building, though?
That sums up day day yesterday... also a top tip.. don't put on suncream just before you go on the tractor / go to rally stage / walk past bowlers ....
yeah, it's the tent between the house and the drivers club. We kept walking into Holly though... and Jenson's mum and dad... but no crofty. He's doing an interview at lotus with Heikki tomorrow at 2 i think, we'll go then and try and get his attention :)
Holly was more than happy to have a pic and a quick chat (even though she was dashing off somewhere) when we said we were commenters on sidepodcast though :D very lovely lady (apparently my new bff)
(hearts) holly!!
i demand to see pictures!
bff???
best friend forever
holly is wonderful
:)
ahh right
we haven't been up to the rally stage yet :( lots of walking.. but not even been all the way up the hill! advice noted though, it was much more dusty today, my nikon, and the lumix i borrowed were/ are filthy!
we've never ever made it to the rally stage. you must get pics from the top of the hill though?
i wish 5live used her more. she was ace when covering for david's trip to the press conference.
you know you two are more than simply commenters on spc now. you have both write regularly!
i have a pic that lukeh took (my eyes are closed - i was looking into the sun....) will try and upload it.. and the pic of me and JB.. while i was being squished (with daddy button in the background)..
i know someone else like that!
hehe i'm not good with pictures... but holly and i
http://twitpic.com/22499s
did you get a pic with daddy button?
i want to.. but it's so so soooooo hot out there.. it's kinda scary. We were going to go up the top first thing today, but i was busy clicking with the lumix
he kinda stayed further away from us than last year.. i think after the last pic i got with him he's realised he didn't want to be punched :D
biiiiig (hearts)
Indycar:
Woah - Hunter-Reay just called Duno Watkins Glen's 16th corner - she's 7 seconds off the pace
harsh!
She's making Luca Badoer look like Sebastian Vettel
scratch that - she's 9 seconds off pole and 8 seconds slower than the next guy... what the hell?
:)
And she hasn't been banned or anything?
me and JB!!! :D - http://twitpic.com/224am8
i was squished against a fence.. but i got one :D hehe
he knows who you are!
I can see her license being rvoked during the winter
i even touched his shoulder!
and Jules was drinking Red bull...
... yes Lukeh's worried about me too..
how do you get slower and slower like that?
Summer surprise?? Her team boss very limply tried to defend her.
Once again, I must say
"C'MON CARROLL!!"
:D
Just watched "The Grid" last night and he said he listens to Rage Against the Machine before the race.
That's just another reason to like him!
Gah - Q2 is done; Carroll comes 10th. A good qually for you debut I suppose
Hullo, Lukeh here now. My driver of the day was either mark webber or jochen mass! Webber spent a ridiculous amount of time with the fans and was just smiling, chatting away, looked really interested in everything being said by fans and just really a pleasure
I heart jochen now, he's so funny. He also had fans asking for him so he started play acting a bit with them throwing arms about and stuff but it was all light hearted fun and he just came over for jokes and giggles with people there :)
who was faster up the hill though?
Probably webber. he did burnouts and spinning-the-car and everything (he called it the Red Bull style!)
:)
am pleased i read mr c's post. am struggling for content that isn't OMG JENSON in my daily for tomorrow... and Lukeh is asleep..
hehe!
are you going to add your twitpic to the post lou?
did i mention i touched his shoulder? lol... i've been hyper ever since. I think that's why i'm only just starting to feel the ache in my shoulder...
i think i'm going to draft a few blog posts too while it's fresh in my mind. i'm so silly for not bringing my camera cable with me..
i can do if you want?... which one?
do you want to see what the finished banner looks like btw?
Shoulder ache and Jenson touching your shoulder... related?
both!
was it not finished before? did you get my comment about getting croftie to sign the USP cap?
that was only the drawing... i stitched it... like on cloth... it was all folded in lukeh's bag ready for me to give you.. :)
yeah i saw it.. we didn't have it with us today, but i'll show it to him tomorrow might get us noticed :) maybe i can get a pic with him holding it?
hehehe maybe.. maybe it was the shock. ahhh i have to write a blog post..
and a review of the lumix... much blogging to do while Lukeh zzzzzz's
that would make my life. that would totally make up for black friday.
woot!
okay, tis my mission for tomorrow then.. you might have to have me in the picture too (killing two birds with one stone and all that....)
more than acceptable ;)
i'll try not to close my eyes this time :)
quick picture (can you tell i'm bored) to prove it's all stitched. :)
would help if i included the link..
http://twitpic.com/224x6e
Woah. Did you make that when you were supposed to be revising?
am confused. last time i saw it, it looked like this: http://twitpic.com/1lukd9
had no idea you were planning on stitching the whole thing!?!
nope. i started it ages ago.. and finished it off during the European GP introduction coverage thing.. and neatened it up just before i left on Thursday :)
... mum wouldn't let me do it when i was meant to be revising..
oh yeah... it was only a plan... i couldn't stitch the page 22 or bibendum though... too small :( was going to surprise you with it on friday :D
awwww!
#ihatemylife
hehehe you'll get it next time i see you...which will probably be ages away.. so it will probably still be a surprise :D (stop cancelling going to meetups! ;) )
Friday at goodwood was sooooo humid though... it kinda left a shadow over the day as the temperature was so unbearable..
oops.
on the plus side croftie would love the panda and the mac, it looks just like producer jas :)
please, please find them tomorrow!
Lukeh says if i ask Crofty nicely after the interview with Heikki he may tell me where we can find Ant and him after their sky sports coverage finishes...
#wantstomeetantandcrofty
sounds like a plan.
today = Jenson day
tomorrow = Ant and Crofty day :)
you will meet that somewhere in spa though, surely? they'll be everywhere.
hehe but Goodwood is Goodwood..plus i can't wait till then! :)
am off to go get some food. back later..
Trackside from the Glen
see ya
we could all do better :)
My cat could do better... and my cat died in 1992
:)
Jean Todt is hangning around the pits at the Daytona Prototype race, will likely be there for the NASCAR race tonight
Andy Hone was at Goodwood today working for Getty!!!!!!!!!
oh.my.god! i must try and meet him tomorrow...that would be incredible...
and friday. tweet him.
have done... it would be so awesome. goodness i love goodwood.
Now we are in the appropriate thread did you have a good day today stalking Buttons?
yep - http://twitpic.com/224am8
That is very close for a stalker. Did you not trust Lukeh to press the button on the camera?
he took the pic.. but we were all pressed against the fence as the mad button fans pushed to get to Jenson. I love that John is in the background.
I shall explain more about Goodwood in my posts.. which i'll finish/ publish once i've looked through all my pics.. or have enough pics to decide if it should be one or 3 posts..
I have been multi-tasking while the football has been on and I can now say the move to the new wiki is complete.
There's a BUT, though.
At the moment, all the pages that could be brought over have been, but I haven't sorted organisation or links or anything like that. You may not be able to find a page you're looking for by clickety clicking. However, the search on the new wiki is far superior to the old one, so that should help.
I'll be organising the pages soon.
A couple of pages didn't make the jump because of embedding issues - Sidepodsingles and Quikmaps spring to mind. There were only a couple though.
Finally, there's no delete function on the old wiki (which is stoopid) so it now just points people in the direction of the new one.
wow! awesome... what's the link to the new wiki.. i can't remember it :(
http://sidepodcast.wikia.com/sidepodcast I do believe
I am looking forward to your posts and pics. Are you both fit for another day of climbing the hill?
http://wiki.sidepodcast.com works as normal.
haven't really climbed the whole hill yet.. but we've probably walked miles. I've been suffering with bad hayfever all day, and my shoulder is all stiff.. having carried my cameras and things...
Lukeh's shattered and sleeping..
but it's goodwood and we'll be fine tomorrow i should imagine :D it's getting better and better. :D
That is crazy. They must expect people to leave some time. I guess you have to edit it to a blank page and let them store that on their server
ahhh thank you!
I'll stay by the long way then.
:)
Hayfever and all that grass is not a good combination
i think all the dust doesn't help. I was sneezing so much Mark Webber even said 'bless you' hehe :)
♥
You have been mixing with the stars. Good way to get a photo by getting sympathy from drivers
every time Mark looked up at me today i didn't get the shot in time.
He's become one of my all time favourite drivers though... and that Red Bull is stunning... i mean... a thing of beauty. :) As is the brawn (which went up the hill today! (dressed up as a merc..)
Evening
hey pat.
has anyone been checking out the live streaming from goodwood btw?
hey Pat
There's live streaming?
I have just come back from a day at Ikea. Well, it took ages to get there and we spent over 4 hours there... My mate successfully got his bathroom sink unit.
I went with the aim of spending no more than £25 on trinkets, I knew I would fail as soon as I picked up a shopping bag. I spent £50 and consider that a success, I could have gone through £100 easily.
Oh and the meatballs are really nice
yep, from the dunlop stage.. so lots of lovely interviews with drivers... we chose not to go to Jenson's today though..
i'll put the info in the daily.
Nice :)
oh my god someone's car alarm has been going off for over 30mins and Lukeh is still sleeping... i might go mental if it continues for much longer..
ahh it's stopped... either that or i'm now deaf...
I completely forgot to reserve my Kangaroo. I'll do it next payday
Brilliant!
eeek! me too! must.do.that.
Ah what you want is the Velodrome at the Olympics, that's quite short. Or watch the nightly highlights of the TdF, just an hour a day...
:D
Oschersleben? Be glad. The place is awful.
ooooh this is interesting..
Solar Camera Strap eliminates need for expensive dSLR batteries
http://holykaw.alltop.com/solar-camera-strap-eliminates-need-for-expens
My sore neck agrees with the idea of not needing expensive annoying heavy camera batteries anymore. However i'm not even using a battery grip (might need one soon :( )
Ahem.. apart from Sears Point with Franck.... :)
I think Adam Carroll has that same backing this week.
Oh wow
I've walked through it to get to the top paddock. It takes ages to get through, you can't see the hillclimb course and the path is next to a slow section of the rally course so I didn't enjoy it. I didn't know it last year but apparently you can navigate your way to a better section of it so that may be worthwhile. I can't say I'll bother this year, will probably go halfway up the hill and turn back.
Niice!
we have sooo much to do tomorrow but i really hope we get the time to check it out. I wanna get some pics of them on the jump! :)
I should say I didn't take the tractor so that's why it took a while (I didn't like the idea of queuing - regretted it). Also the London Pride at the top of the hill wasn't very nice. The jump is very tempting, would be the only reason I'd go up there..
i've been to the top paddock before (2008 i think) i haven't had chance to check out the rally stage bit at all yet :( I'm not sure Lukeh and I will be able to cope with running up and down the hill tomorrow.. although i'd liked to watch an f1 run from the banking so we'll catch the first run from there.. maybe.. planning goodwood is so difficult.
Don't forget to meet Heikki.
Love the banner :)
oh yeah.. am gonna get some pics but we should try talk to him too.. this is of course if i don't loose Lukeh again... crowds are crazy!
I haven't even tried to plan it. I will do when I see the programme. As long as I get to see F1 cars old and new on the track and have a wander of the paddocks, I'm happy.
f1 runs are around 12 and 3. :) *engraved into my head* :)
I wonder how hard he's laughing
Thanks! :)
My ETA is 10.30, but this assumes I leave by 8.15 and the queue isn't too horrendous, neither of which is guaranteed.
hehehe we've tried to arrive early each day so far.. and failed.. either because i wanted more sleep, or because of trains. hehe :)
does anyone here watch GP2?
Eventually..
i would if i could remember to.. i enjoyed watching the odd race last year..
Could someone please tell me why does Michel Herck bother?
*prods Mr C* I think we still have that Eurosport Player subbie from Le Mans, ideal for Silverstone..
I mean to... but then forget and usually catch the highlights of the big crash on youtube.
Didn't his dad buy DPR?
Sorry - just watching the Valencia feature race. I never ever miss GP2, but this is just dire stuff
Is he hoping his Dad buys him an F1 team too, because I can't imagine anyone ever hiring him
It can only be Valencia, because even GP2 is rarely this poor
Normally Herck would finish 22nd and no one would ever notice, but here.....
Doing a Kobayashi? Except more annoying?
No - Herck is more Pierluigi Martini than Kobayashi
The Eurosport commentary chaps are saying that Sergio Perez and Pastor Maldonado may be in F1 next year - what say you lovely Sidepodcast people about that?
Maldonado has supposed to have been in F1 next year for a few years now
Daily is scheduled! i'm on a roll tonight!
Linked with replacing Pedro at Sauber not so long ago.
I think he was to have a reserve drive this year with one of the newer teams, but it didn't happen for some reason
I don't see there being a lot of free seats next year. Maldonado is certainly worth a shot in F1 and unless he does another GP2 season Jules Bianchi has Ferrari backing which may get him a seat somewhere, van der Garde is on McLaren's books and I have always rated Marcus Ericsson.
Well done
Sauber? Similar to Nakajima at Williams
This is Maldanado's fourth GP2 season, so I think he needs a move up pronto - otherwise, he may disappear.
I think Sam Bird will move up eventually too.
Could be the next di Grassi, keeps finding a way in that gets thwarted for whatever reason. Although he's not as good IMO.
He's not bad though, I should say. I'm some way behind on GP2 knowledge but as of last year he was shaking off his crasher tag and developing well. I like the look of Perez too.
Seems to be the logical place. Just like Massa before him. I would imagine that unless he finishes in the top couple of places in the championship he will do another season to try to clinch the championship
To be honest, I've often wondered about di Grassi - I just don't think he's that good and am wondering how long he may be around
Maldonado could be another Pantano. Sam Bird seems to have been around for years now.
Perez wasn't great last year, but he's really stepped up this season
I met Sam Bird today.. he's awesome.. :D
He won F2 last year right? Makes sense.
Only likely free seats next year will be Merc, Sauber and whichever new team comes in.
Bird's only 23 though and this is his first GP2 season
He's been around the levels below GP2 for a while, this year could/should be his opportunity to show off properly.
Soucek won F2
Andy Soucek won F2 last year
OK he should get an F1 seat for making Lou happy
He was very good in GP2 Asia not the one just gone but the one before.
...and right now I don't see F2 as being anything other than a career cul-de-sac
Okay I don't know who he is then.
Drivers start in cars so young now that they can seem ancient by the age of 23 like him or Lewis
i was taking pics of him as he was giving autographs and he looked at me for a split second smiled at all my cameras and moved on the the next person wanting an autograph, was kinda funny :)
GP2 Asia has fairly questionable talent at times though
He was in GP2 a couple of years ago, but struggled. Apparent horror stories about how his team treated him
Agreed
How many cameras are you carrying?
Oh right, so not the best thing to judge him on then
at that time it was three...
True enough. The top half dozen are usually reasonable
Such a pro.
Did you get to try that camera that they were giving free trials of?
True - I think Valsecchi is a true measure of where its at - winner of GP2 Asia, but 9th in the main series (so far)
yes! review coming soon, but it was awesome!
Didn't Kobayashi win GP2 Asia then finish 15th in the proper championship?
I assume it is on the I want list now
As with everything in life, Kobayashi is a special case
I think it was 16th actually.
for £600 i think not :(
It was
Strikes me as the real heir to Fisi/Pantano - fast on his day, not on others. Good midfielder who could have a solid career if given to him, but without setting the world on fire.
Hopefully your university will have one. You should see the camera people tomorrow and tell them about your uni and suggest they give them one because then all the students would get to try it and some of them would buy them when they become professionals. Use your power
Lou has powers?? Lazer shooting eyes and stuff??
hehehe okay, will do, you only get to borrow it for 2 hours but it's totally worth it, i may try and get one tomorrow too.
That would be handy for a photographer
I guess you will need to be lucky with all the people tomorrow
it's kinda hidden away.. but they have lots of cameras...:) i'm sure i'll get one at one point...
Good luck and enjoy. If someone is giving them out it would be rude not to try
Some interesting twitpics from Chandhok today.
http://twitter.com/karunchandhok
He was driving the Williams FW08 and among others he has a pic of Jim Clark's Indy winning Lotus.
exactly, plus as it's only got a short focal length lens with it, it means that i have one camera with a zoom lens and another camera for close up shots. Perfect for Goodwood... as changing lenses today would have meant one dusty camera..
awwwww
You already have three cameras. One of them must have a short lens.
Avoid the dust.
yeah my bridge camera (my mini ish digi nikon) has an amazing focal length range, so that usually does the trick. nothing beats a Dslr though..
...and then there's Yikes!!
I guess you ned to borrow one then.
