Hello Everyone! I’m not sure about anyone else in Britain but I’ve got two minds about this very hot and humid weather. I’m partly very happy the sun is out and the past few days at the Festival of Speed have been exceptionally hot. While not having to carry a jumper around with me is such a lovely feeling, I’m typically British in my approach to summer and I’m not too keen on the silly humidity as it makes sleeping and general negotiating of busy Goodwood crowds much more difficult. I hope you’re all having a lovely time with the weather, be it lapping up the rays or hiding inside away from the rain. Anyway, you already know Lukeh and I are at Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, however if you’re not able to attend, and with no F1 to keep you occupied here are a few things you might like to check out;
- While I’ve been away I’ve been trying to keep up with the comments and things going on in the internet world, and one thing stands out at the moment. Christine works really hard. Now I already knew this, and I’m sure you all did too but I think we need to give her a special thank you, for even with her next adventure, her new hobby, and keeping up with her Film Watch series she’s moved our beloved Wiki to a new site which can't have been easy. Thank you Christine!
- Mr C has been working hard too and has been looking into the work of Mark and Keith Sutton. He’s written a blog post, and even discovered that they have a blog! Blogs are brilliant, and I’m so happy that the f1 photography world are continuing to embrace them.
- I also wanted to quickly remind everyone that Giggles radio is back this weekend with the second 's' show. It's going to be brilliant, so make sure you tune in!
- I’ve mentioned it loads of times already but today is the last day of what has been the most amazing weekend at Goodwood Festival of Speed. Have any of you been lucky enough to go, or have tickets for today? If you have, then feel free to share your exciting stories with us in the comments, you could even write a guest post. If you can’t be there and are sad that you’re missing the action then don’t forget that Goodwood are streaming the interviews from the Dunlop Stage , and Goodwood radio is also available online too. Of course if you just want to catch up with some photos they are also available too.
Speaking of photographs at Goodwood yesterday was rather awesome as Lukeh captured two very special moments for me.

With Holly Samos from the 5live F1 - yes I know my eyes are closed, but it was a bright day!
and...

With Jenson Button!! eeekk
I'll write some posts about the whole event when I get back and have had a chance to check through my photos, but both yesterday and Friday were awesome. Wish us luck for today as we attempt to track down more fabulous F1 people. I hope you all have a lovely day!
Ping! and with that, i must sleep. night all! xx
night lou
Hot and humid weather, none of that where I am. Perhpas the Alnwick Festival of Speed is a better idea.
Night lou.
Night Lou and Lukeh
Night, hopefully see you guys later
i just noticed the second caption isn't up.. and i've no idea what i did... have tried to update and it wont work.. i hope mr c will help when he reads this..
I will mention it to him when he appears. Get some sleep now
you all realise what July 4th is too, don't you?
Yep. It says so in the daily so it must be true
I meant today is USA-day; Twitterage may be full of USA-isms as the time zones cross over...
Greetings from the Land of Sun Baked Tundra....
I thought I would check in again, just to prove that I have yet to be removed from mr. C's hit list yet. I think he's working on the next drummer (I think it's their 19th one) of Spineal Tap....
Those drummer on that band keep sprouting up like weeds!
good morning Jordan
Hi
Hola
I guess the fail whale will have a busy day
Hi Jordan
Oh, I was wondering why everybody seemed to know which day I had to pay off my credit card bills....
Okay I think I have everything sorted.
Ticket, money, suncream, camera, batteries on charge, phone on charge.
Not taking the netbook, I forgot to get a 3G dongle and I expect be too busy anyway so it can wait until I'm home.
Does anyone know how do upload a Twitvid?
Seems to be very straight forward. Look at http://www.twitvid.com/
I think all I do is log in to the site when I need it, and upload from there. I'll try it tomorrow perhaps, if the videos aren't too big.
Sleep time. Can't promise lots in the way of comments or tweets during the day, will do what I can but I want to focus on enjoying the event and there's a lot to see.
See you when I'm home..
Night Pat
Is Mr C about at the moment?
Haven't seen him for a while.
MR C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
does that really work?
Normally it does. It is quite incredible how often it works in a few seconds
Oh.... OK
Looks like he has his headping switched off. Not sure that is allowed..
Is that some sort of light bulb?
I have no idea how it works. Only Giggles knows
In that case, we'll never know
Almost certainly.
just watched the longest (and worst) movie in history.
superman returns.
i think a whole lifetime may have passed.
Your headping is 20 minutes slow
@Mr C
I sent you an e-mail about Lou's problems with the layout of her daily
sorry. we were delayed looking for a richard branson cameo.
he was the best thing in it.
oh no. sorry lou i shoulda been here. will fix now.
Didn't know he was in it.
That's bad
they ripped of his virgin galactic idea, so i guess they wanted to give him a part.
i have no idea what kevin spacey was thinking.
I guess Christine's film watch post will be worth reading then
You obviously haven't seen Catwoman. Don't bother.
So many reasons why I avoided that film...
Mr C sir, guest post coming in a bout an hour if that is fine?
...or Irreversible - truly dire, dire film
sure thing. lemmie sort lou's pics and i'm all yours.
Odd way to spend Saturday night, but... if it's what you want
Then stay away from Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. After that movie, I wanted to become a lawyer in the hopes that I could legally disow my parents for taking to see that crap in the theatre. (Remember this was from a pre-teen some 20 years ago!....)
Hmmm, how are the Sipdepodcastreviews for Superman III, the movie that also had Supergirl in it? As lame as I thought back then?
if you refresh, lou's pics / captions should all be there.
not sure if it was twitpic fail or sidepodcast fail, but not lou's fault at all. first time i've seen that happen, apologies lou.
Whooops! Sorry, everyone, had the order reversed. Superman III was so bad that the parents did not take to see Superman IV. Or maybe I was seeing mvoies by myself by then...
we had no idea the film was a continuation until it started. i've never seen number #3 sadly.
Lou with everyone! How cool is that?
really frickin' cool!
Can't wait for all the photos
Consider yourself lucky, then. The idea at the studios nowdays is that you the audience is supposed to watch Superman: The Movie, Superman II, and Superman Returns and pretend that you never heard of Superman III or Superman IV, hopefully so that you do not sue the company that made that junk!
i am all yours. shoot ;)
hehehe. that is weirdly how our lives panned out. scary.
Why does this piece of junk, mail-order rifle have to jam now? :P
While I’ve been away I’ve been trying to keep up with the comments and things going on in the internet world, and one thing stands out at the moment. Christine works really hard.
i love that. yay for lou. one day someone should make a documentary about christine's life. it'll be quite the eyeopener.
i used to think i was productive, and then i met christine.
:)
how are ya jordan, haven't heard from ya in ages?
Just so you know, i have a cold...
Post should be with you fairly shortly
:)
karun at goodwood
Been surprizing busy. But I made two vists to Sidepodcastland just to prove that I was not the next drummer on your hit-list, mr. C. Heard you had a few jobs to knock off drummers #13 to 17 from the Spinal Tap band, huh? :P
Is Karun developing a mid-lands accident?
meanie!!
ringo is just fine i'll have you know ;)
"Sign me up for the next 20 years"
I wonder if in 20 years time, he'd be paired with the HRT?
:D
And mr. C calls me a "meanie"......
Karin is just great. He really shows what drivers could be doing for the fans. Shows he is a real fan of the sport too.
He was the most polite engaging driver in Melbourne too.
:D
I love that the modern drivers all seem to have some grasp of the history of the sport and have favourite drivers and cars from the past. They seem a lot more like fans of the sport than previous generations.
I love that Karun says the Williams was a pure car. At the time it was racing the cars then were slagged off for being the opposite with no suspension and so much downforce. Guess it all depends on your viewpoint.
am surprised this is karun's first time. seems like his kind of event. lewis used to visit before he was successful and jenson too.
Hmmm, would the previous generation be too old to listen to the generation of F1 drivers before them as fans? Like it is possible for Prost as a very young F1 driver to have been taking on Graham Hill when he was either driving or about to drive a Hill.... No not as the old vet that had to show Graham's son the ropes at Williams....
Is Mr C still up?
just watching this fan video of radiohead at glastonbury last weekend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMSFf8znSHs
i love that near the end of the song the guitarist runs out of hands so resorts to playing keyboards with the end of his guitar.
headping fully functioning
Check your e-mail in approximately two minutes for a special guest post
:)
sent
recieved. going up now.
sweet
I hope so. It would be very bad news if the person that I once suspected was/is head of the British Secret Service (They are always known as "C") to be caught asleep at the switch.....
Of course, it would explain a lot.....
It appears Mr C is indeed still functioning... a bit
:)
...And the free world can rest easy.....

22:30 EDT. I have to pick up my brother at the airport. Bye everyone.
see you Jordan
see ya chap.
have added leigh's post to the meta box on the homepage.
have also hacked a quick fix together to show pictures from the daily post in the top right corner. not sure if lou expected to be on the homepage today, but there ya go.
the only person i'm missing now is amy. is she still asleep?
doing anything to rid yourself of superman returns??
too true :)
don't know if this video was posted here yet:
Morning :)
I'm trying to work out if I'm brave enough to walk out in the sun to the train station or not...
que? I have been cleaning for 8 hours and have no idea what is happening. Time to catch up!
Oh dear. How's that going? :(
Morning guys. I'm at goodwood today. Currently outside the drivers club. Some guy in a Williams jacket is signing autographs, but I don't know who he is!
all done! i'll sleep well tonight :D
I'm on the homepage???! Thanks mr c lol
I stole lukeh's iPod... Tis Lou :)
Chris it's probably Sam bird :)
The outside thing has been called off. Mainly because I've got shampoo all over my hair and now the water has gone off...
Try turning off the switch in the kitchen ;)
Otherwise there are some bottles in the fridge...
Off? What kind of daft system is this?
Also I'm not pouring cold water out the fridge over my head... Sorry :P
Today is quite an exciting day for me. I looked on the calender and realised it's been 17 years since I started following F1 :D
Morning peoples.
Is Amy around?
It looks really good :)
Hehe, ive just noticed the lap by lap highlights banner has Yas on it!
:D :D :D
No one could deny that Yas is pretty. Shame that's all it is ;)
hehe, when i have got a new car, i want to get a bike and go cycling there, it should be fun
HEADPING FOR MS. FULTON.
It's just not working. The headpings are faulty this weekend.
bah!
I'd call out a repairman, but Sunday rates are probably extortionate.
at least someone noticed the banners ;)
the server is based in the states. imagine the callout fees today!
#onlineadvertiser
:D They look great!
hehe!
Amy was around for a bit a fewvhours ago, saying something about cleaning
Ping: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/07/04/wimbledon-2010-day-13/
great post on the fota forum from manipe: http://www.manipef1.com/blog/articles/35/
Hello.
I think I picked up the wrong head ping there. Sorry.
arse, it really is broken.
Afternoon everyone :)
Talking of noticing things I really like the picture ads in the RSS feed (I mean plugs rather than ads I guess as they are for your stuff). They look really pro.
yay!
(that's the same thing we're talking about btw)
Yes sorry, I may have sat on it by accident before and I was hoping that it was fine really and nobody would notice that it was a bit bent and whatnot. Oh dear, oh dear.
Ah okay... Banners... Yup love 'em :)
is it fixable?
I don't know. I thnk last time it got broken it was Steven Roy who had to fix it. But I'm not sure if he'll turn up if I call him.
I'll give it a go though, we might even get Amy that way.
STEEEEEEEEVENNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!
Ooh that's a surprise i've just arrived in Milton Keynes.
Hey.
Oh.
:) :)
Eeeehehehe.
:) :)
Oh dear it is very broken. You don't know how to fix the head ping do you RG?
Haven't got a clue.
Ah :(
You don't know how to fix the head ping do you RG? {Comment #134}
N>O= O-
...
What do you mean, drawing a head ping didn't fix it? What's wrong with you, you stupid computer?!?
Ahh, I love multi-tasking. Archers post: http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/07/04/the-archers-june-2010/
whaaaaat
i just hugged crofty!!
YES!!
see, broken.
it had to overcome the fact I was asleep + the fact I am having serious internet connectivity issues :(
Christine I have just sent you an e-mail :)
No probs.
so we havent seen ant yet :( they arent in the comms box so we are thinking media.maybe?
Find a corvette, dangle it in front of him, he'll show up.
;)
they're live on sky at the moment aren't they? we don't have it, but people are tweeting that they are.
anyone have sky who could looksee where they are standing?
Am watching it, all its showing is Tony Jardine and the bloke who does the speedway in the studio
cheers rg. is that a studio in london?
No, at Goodwood. Has the statue thing in backdrop.
ahh, that must be new. lou should probably seek that out.
Jackie Stewart is there now so... dunno if that makes it easier to find.
That bloke who does the speedway says Ant and Crofty were trackside.
damn. it's a long track.
I'll look out for them, if possible.
Didn't realise Quick Nick got himself a new helmet.
hi everyone
Pictures? Is Ant there?
Awww this is sweet...
:)
Aww I like that one.
Mr C sir?
chap
will there be a separate thread for the IndyCar race later or is it necessary?
if you don't mind writing something, that's always welcomed, but pat's away so it only may be a few of us. your call really.
I'll do something quick and easy then
Ouch!!

Racing drivers are supposed to be so busy at the FOS that they have no time for fun. Not Karun though. He seems to have become obsessed with the WIlliams FW08 he is driving.
He went to the ball and spent his time dicussing the car with its designer
http://twitter.com/karunchandhok/status/17704155526
Then he spent an hour looking for a model of it with the owner of the car he is driving
http://twitpic.com/22bwo1
And of course eventually he succeeded
http://twitpic.com/22bz0h
He didn't spend all his time at the ball discussing the car though because he also met the amazing million times trial world champion Dougie Lampkin
http://twitter.com/karunchandhok/status/17704196853
can we keep him?
Greetings from the Land of Sun-Scrotched Tundra.....
My nephew has been in my for only 12 hours and he's already destroyed my die-cast of Jody Scheckter's Tyrrell P34 six-wheeler. That car was my first ever F1 toy and well, if it was a real car, it would be considered a classic.... (If you want to get a rough guess as to how old I really am...) AND my gal wondered why I took my 1/20th Tamiya plastic model of Villeneuve's 312T4 to her house for safe-keeping....
In other news: I just noticed that "This is Spinal Tap" is a film that is listed. When did this happen, as I just wondered if mr. C. is showing off some of his handywork to Chrisitne in his secondary "Contract" work....
I guess you can easily get a replacement P34 but you are right not to risk a Villeneuve Ferrari
Calacanis under-estimates himself. He deserves more haters

:)
Mr C sir,
(2nd) Guest post (of the day) sent
:)
legend. am on it.
ping: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/07/04/4th-of-july-at-the-glen/
Yay
:)
Right, I'm off to the other thread for IndyLights...
:)
By the way... If you remember the Giggles Radio show last time kept cutting out because our router had broken in the extreme heat... Here is the superdooper new router that got us through today with no problems:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/alexandronov/4761353116/
Hi! I'm at Rownhams services outside southampton. Good day at goodwood, over in a flash. Networks couldn't handle the people so no updates possible from ground. 1 day isn't enough.
ok, more in 90 mins or so when home
you had the same router as us didn't you? how come ours has been okay?
how many pics did you take?
I really really like the way it was much cooler today - it has made life so much easier to deal with
:)
*collapses* hi.
hellooo
hi lou and lukeh
Did ya find Ant in the end?
no *sobs* we waited for at least an hour outside the media bit. we were there as late as we could be. but no sighting..
ahh, boo :(
:(
the day was incredible though.. however i think it's safe to say that my hayfever/cold has taken over and i feel rather awful. i'm covered in dust and need to sleep for a week, but i would have the weekend all over again if i could. just awesome.
Racing drivers are supposed to be so busy at the FOS that they have no time for fun. Not Karun though. He seems to have become obsessed with the WIlliams FW08 he is driving.
He went to the ball and spent his time dicussing the car with its designer {Comment #166}
This is fantastic. You can tell he's a complete F1 fanatic who happens to be talented enough to get the fanatic's ultimate reward - a paid pass into the F1 paddock - and also talented enough to stay there. F1 needs more people like Karun :)
Glad you enjoyed it. Did you manage to get to play with a free camera again
no. too much to do, no time.. plenty to write about though..
mr c do you mind if i write a special blog post?
I think we can probably all guess the answer to that
be our guests. write a many as you like :)
out of interest... is there a limit on photos i can include? i have a quick over view post i want to write now with a few pics..
no limit at all.
it sometimes helps if there's a caption or description for each, but please go crazy.
okay, we're going to get some food and then i'll cobble together a post. i'll ping it when i'm ready.. :D
is it easier for me to upload them straight from my laptop or from a url?
this is presuming we have enough internet connection...
url should be fine, but if not, maybe email? make a note in the post where each pic should be an i can drop them in.
(i think i've broken something, picturewise on the site)
Right folks,
I'm off to the IndyCar thread - shall be back later
(*C'MON ADAM CARROLL!!)
:D
Good evening, I am now home
hey pat
yaay! good to hear, we've just eaten and i'm about to start my epic post.
okay, will email. i would rather it be a surprise, if it doesn't work will email.. if that's okay?
cool by me.
would you rather email christine?
Erm, I'm not sure. I kept missing cars on-track so I sort of gave up on that for a while, and people crowding around cars sometimes meant I could only get ultra-closeups. Should still have plenty though, and video too. Really hard to aim the camera with a viewscreen when the sun is shining on it!
I had a pasty in the car park. :) And bought a croissant at the services with my cuppa.
I'm going to get showered then will check through photos.
I was hoping to get back for the IndyCar but there's that very good reason why I'm not, very worth it ;)
depends when i get this finished (wants to get it up asap before i forget) but if it's not working then maybe.. :)
heheh tis why my nikon is awesome (tilting screen is awesome :D )
It was longer than that. SB and I watched an entire run trackside from start to finish at the other end of the paddock, then I met you there and we stayed for 40 minutes I reckon..!
#lukeh
Bruno Senna pointed at me as he drove past and i got a photo. He was definitely pointing at me and I have photographic proof
#bff
i don't know i was waaaay too hyper all day.. i'm going to write this blog post now *fingers crossed* :)
Maybe he will mention you the next time BBC interview him
we're trying to view the on board video he took..cause at the end of his run we were waiting in the paddock.. he stopped right in front of us.. if he managed to video Lukeh.. that must mean they are bffs? ;)
what is lukeh wearing?
*puts a fiver on something red
nah that was yesterday. he's wearing a grey top and beige 3/4s i'm wearing blue..
We should be just before he turns right to go to the tent thing.. i think he stopped in front of us, i have a picture of him holding his blackberry. He was pointing
at the marshal to ask which directionat Lukeh...Darn.
we were on the right... but when we see his hand we think. bad times. we were nearly on a bruno video :(
gah
I am sure you will be on the widescreen version
still very cool idea though.
and still lukeh's bff.
hehehehhe!! Lukeh is putting after sun on his face.. apparently it's making his face burn.. i told him to put more sun cream on....
MR C!!!!!! are you disappearing now? or just wondering off for a bit?
... not that i'm trying to make you stay up late....
5 or 10 mins of leg stretching. not sleeping before 1am :)
wohooo!!
am nearly done.. :)
188 items on my SD card, that's photos and videos
This is very low for me
Just a yell for if anyone has anything to plug for the daily because I am seriously short of ideas.
hey RG,
It might only be available in few countries, by my "July 2010 Easy Music // Difficult Ears Spotify playlist" is right here http://easymusicfordifficultears.blogspot.com/2010/07/july-2010-easy-music-for-difficult-ears.html
:D
senna's video must be worth a link, and lou's post is coming soon. leigh's written x2 posts in the past 24 hours. one of which is a must read.
manipe diss fota: http://www.manipef1.com/blog/articles/35/
erm...
my post is finished.. just doing pics!!! :D
oh yeah, renault shunned goodwood for hungary: http://tweetphoto.com/30784102
and: http://my.renaultf1.com/profiles/blogs/video-the-best-of-budapest
Should be more than enough.
boo
uh-oh.. although tbh there was already a yellow and black car there.. not sure i could have coped with 2 fugly black and yellow cars...
Renault 70s Le Mans car?
i find odd that they haven't been back since they were the highlight of the show in '07.
no the jordan.. i think.
it seems silly. then again Ferrari might as well not bother anymore..
old cars, miserable italians?
Are you attempting to suggest the Jordan was ugly?! I loved that livery. I didn't get a photo though. I'm not entirely sure why it was there actually, it didn't run..
Careful you too! I love the Jordan 197 with the Snake head nose art, and the Shark nose art ones where not that bad too!
The mechanics were the chirpiest of the lot in the vans and cars following the F1 cars, they brought a Fiat 500 as a support vehicle!
and I mean the original
yep.. and with Marc Gene. I don't bother with them anymore because Gene never bothers to stick around, and it felt exactly the same as last year..
i didn't like it... not one bit.
I like the curved lines and the guts to have a standout livery.
Mr C....... what category should i put the post in?
'your stories' ?
bingo. ta.
okay, never say i don't do anything for you guys...
PING!!!!: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/07/04/pictures-speak-louder-than-words/
although i've broken the images.. i hope mr c will sort it for me after he's read it..
am on it :)
Daily is scheduled with that.
once i get over the shock!
:)
How many people did you get to pose with that?
only the ones shown. :)
Great pic from Karun. JYS in Jimmy Clark's Indy winning Lotus wearing a helmet like Clark's talking to Emerson Fittipaldi.
http://twitpic.com/22fmtv
And Emmo was in his Penske-Mercedes Indycar overalls
Hmmm, at the end of each Grand Prix, as the bubbly is being tossed about, is the song that you hear the Overture or the actual Torodor March from Carmen.... "cause if its the actual march, I think we have just found Alex's last song for the "T" version of Radio Giggles....
No champagne fights, everyone....
lou have tweeked the pics and captions, does it all look ok?
looks fine, thanks mr c :)
btw.. does christne have a younger sister who works in a hotel? one of the waitresses here looks just like her! :)
remind me next week i need to sort twitpic integration!
if she does, i've never met her :)
okay :)
the likeness is kinda shocking...
Did you get pictures?
