Hello! RG here and as today’s first ever guest writer for the Daily, I believe it is my duty to welcome you to the weekend. For me, I am delighted it is the weekend, having spent the past day and a bit stuck in bed feeling ill. Not ideal, but yesterday saw some awesome news to keep me happy.
- The brilliant ‘Tonio Liuzzi was confirmed at Force India alongside Adrian Sutil. Fantastic news there, Force India managing to keep two decent drivers and with more testing for him, I do think Liuzzi will go out in 2010 and score a few good results. Especially since he is awesome.
- Then there is the news of Montreal being confirmed for the 2010 season. Brilliant. One of my favourite tracks on the F1 calendar returns. Of course, that is where BMW Sauber scored their one and only victory in 2008. All we need now is a race in the USA and to get rid of a few other circuits. I am looking at Valencia and Abu Dhabi for starters.
- So to top that off, there will have to be something really special. That something special came in the form of BMW selling the team back to Peter Sauber. To a lifelong fan of the team, this is simply the best news ever and has kept a smile on my face. Of course it is with conditions, but I am certain Sauber will be on the grid next season. Can’t wait to have Sauber next year, perhaps a return to the popular blue liveries? I have my fingers crossed.
Of course, I won’t go away without some plugs. My Timo Glock dedicated blog at Only One Timo Glock and my general blog The Northern Waffler. Do also check out one of the ten kazillion posts that were wrote yesterday, a personal favourite of mine being Predictions Revisited, showing how many of us were wrong more or less this time last year. Have a fun Saturday!
Oh, nearly forgot to mention, it is the birthday of a certain Rob Smedley.
Happy Birthday Rob!!!
Woohoo, well done Mr RG :)
Phew! Glad you didn't forget Smedders!
how on earth is it a new day already?... wow..
Happy Birthday Rob!!
Also happy birthday to everyone's favourite engineer,
Jock Cl.. oh, it's not his birthday. It's Rob's!! even better!! Happy birthday Rob :D
perfect post rg. good man.
you missed Jock's birthday... it was 12th september (disclaimer: i am not stalking the brawn team, it says on their website)
He's not following Rubens to Williams?
Good article from Joe about the legal possibilities of Stefan GP to take over Toyota's entry.
http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2009/11/27/can-stefan-gp-take-over-from-toyota/
ah well...Jock's a bit rubbish anyways
#confidentialfromrubens
dunno.. it's on the brawn site.. and it still has jenson etc on it, so i assume it will change or a new website will appear next year?
agreed. plus the only other guy he ever followed was JV
I think we should enter this race by watching that epic race from Jonathon Ross
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9Cmz8gKO4o
Silly Youtube taking ages to sort the quality. There's a naughty word in there too just to warn.
He probably won't. He's been there since he followed Jacques to BAR.
Has anyone heard of this Lockerz.com site? Something about answering questions and playing games which earn you points which you can spend on things like iPods, games consoles, etc, and they DO send them to you. Apparently, this isn't a scam, it is legal and there are many unboxing videos of prizes from Lockerz.
But you can't just register an account. You have to be invited by someone which gives you a combination to put in along with your e-mail.
Bit more info on it here:
http://www.aboutus.org/Lockerz.com
I'm going back over here, as much as I want Friday to continue
yeyyy, saturday. now im excited.
best sleep, but not for a bit
Going dizzy from all the alco..... swapping from thread to thread on doohickey. ;)
Reading back through the predictions thread from last year I found a reference to one of the Friday night games we played. Haven't had one of those in a very long time. Just as well Lou is not competitive or she would be trying to beat last year's highest scores.
http://www.matchpractice.com/game/
Noooooooooooooooooo
Must.resist.urge.to.click.mouse
what were last year's high scores...i am not competitive...i suck at it. therefore, the ability to resist playing it lots is easy
hello all, from frigid Florida
:D
oh no!!!! not THIS game!!
Hi Joe
Atari have put some classic games on their website, namely Asteroids.
When will Activision put Kaboom! on their site?
Based on what Activision have turned into, I wouldn't bet on it anytime soon!!
So I can play asteriods for free? Looks like my weekend is gone
I haven't gone through dropio or the next day's comments but the highest score on that thread was only http://sidepodcast.com/2008/12/28/i-predict-a-riot/#comment-168338
have mouse, can click. and click. and click oooh i've got one.
HI Joe.
Did you hear a bang from the shuttle today?
Lovelovelovelovelovelove Jonathan Ross Race. Genius
17!!!!! ahhh..... grrrrrrr.
Oh, now that you mention it, I did. A loud thud. When you're not paying attention it gets you by surprize
Me too. Coz' matt went round the outside of Morpheus and won :D
Goodnight all.
Reminds me of Lukeh's idea of replacing F1 cars with 50p cars from ToysRUs from Sidepodradio.
night Lukeh, see you tomorrow! :)
:D
I can only get 5 now
night
Grand Prix of Canada confirmed Hell Yeah!!!!!!
okay.. we shall start again... cause i can't get one..
oooh. mini sidepodmeetup again eh? :D
More to the point - you know these classic PS1 games you can get from the PlayStation network? I want them to put Ridge Racer Type 4 on there! Loved that game when I had it, especially the music. For me, best video game music ever. A brilliant mix of acid jazz, funk and breakbeat mixed in with Namco synth pieces. Ab-so-lutely awesome :D
yep...
I guess when everything goes by the book and it makes its first slot there is not as much warning.
cooool. have fun!
i got one!!
will do :)
if you see someone looking at a map, trying to work out the best way from Mornington Cresent to Picadilly circus without going through Goodge street...
Then thats probably me :P
Yeah, I thought Ozzie was pounding on the screens trying to get lizards, but it was really the shuttle in decent weather.
At some point in the future, I intend to record an audio sketch where Drivers sing choruses for points. It may take a while, but one day, I have to.
hahaha i'll look out for you
What was the one where you could customize the car, and there was an oval. Rage Racer?
Also, someone has to bring back the NegCon, the best handheld driving controller IMO.
RRT4 was the one with the 4 race teams, each with their own story line.
I just scored 11
gotta love @Hinchtown - James Hinchcliffe from Indy Lights and pit reporter for A1GP - he's using Twitter properly..
http://twitpic.com/r65so
That is a hard task, I am making it my job now to find a route for you, seeing as it was me that chose those 2.
http://jonwaldock.wordpress.com/2009/11/28/the-challenge-preview/
Sorted, now going to bed.
byeee
Night Jon, found a route, will post comment on your blog :)

*deletes comment*
sorry :(

nonono. post it in 10 minutes. then we can compare notes
noo, the fun is doing it yourself!
Looking at the map, I think they will be very similar tbh
sleep time for me, night all :)
night lou.
night lou
night
I'm being productive, sorting out some future blog entries.. forward planning!
I have a few but they are past the time they should have been posted.
so are mine... months..
Perhaps I should stop moping about and finish this then?
http://f1leagues.blogspot.com/
i need to sleep. see you all in a few hours or so
Could do.. seems a lot of work though!
see ya
afternoon all.
No-one here. Nothing to see
Apart from about ten new threads because Christine was ridiculously over-productive
:D
hi steven and amy
Morning
I was in shock scrolling back through trying to find the 27th daily!
Hi Gullie and Kathi.
hi kathi
Hi Steven
and hi to you too. Anyone else?
Should you not be more asleep than me at this time of night?
Hellooooo I am home from work :)
seems that most of the people likes to sleep at night in europe... :)
Yay, lots of people are awake! Although I don't really need Amy-sitters because its Saturday so I'm not at work and I'm pondering leaving the house soon.
sleep and me don't get along so well. So I decided it's late enough to start the new day and try that sleep thing again tomorrow night.
You work weird hours. You shouldn't be here since we haven't started talking about you yet
hallo
Mr C promised last night he would be here to look after you
I work the other way. I stay awake until there is so little time before I need to get up that I have to go and try to sleep
hi allison
I should be (I am) correcting some exams, but need some background conversation to keep me awake
I indeed do!
Hm I seem to have lost some bookmarks from my toolbar. Can't remember which though :(
hi.
At least someone's headping still works
huomenta (morning)
a little bit slowly :-)
hi mr. c
i wasn't snoozing like amy.
you disappeared while I was at the butcher. I needed Amy-sitters to stop me from getting drunk at my meeting!
i can't follow that.
hullo guille.
drinking at work? i encourage such behaviour. think of it as team bonding.
it was really, my team leader is leaving and he said 'we don't have anything work related to discuss' so we went to the pub. And I am a lightweight so got a little drunk really, really quickly.
Don't get drunk at a meeting. That could get you fired
i can help with that too. drink more, more frequently.
if you don't put in the work, you'll never enjoy the game.
but my immediate superior bought all the beer!
I think it was the first time I'd drunk anything since our Christmas party last year. This is why I am scared of going to Belgium with Bassano.
so am i.
I might have to investigate if my travel insurance covers getting my stomach pumped. #alcoholpoisoning
he didn't made me drink when I was in London. I won't buy those excuses... ;-)
:P
no throwing-up in our luxurious Finnmobil!
ooh it has a name!
I would get some bags....
You have a good case then
all your talk of starbucks and things last night makes me think I should head out and get a gingerbread latte. I havent been to starbucks in about 3 years, but people keep telling me the gingerbread lattes are life changingly amazing.
I've never been to starbucks. I've never even seen a starbucks in real life. #countrygirl
When I moved to Melbourne there was one on every corner and then they seemed to realise that was ridiculous and they shut 80% of them. Now they're quite hard to find.
oh, there is no starbucks in Finland.
am trying to think of an #mfc way to consume starbucks, but it's just drinking coffee.
and you're not into christmas so the gingerbread latte probably doesn't sell it to you. There's also a caramel brulee latte, apparently.
that is acceptable. I am sure they still have coffee.
yep. 12 kilo per person per year. that's 2 kilos more than Norway who have the second highest coffee consumption per capita in Europe.
No wonder I can't sleep.
:D:D
:D
The UK consumes 2.8 kilo per person per year. European average is 4.1
#sillyFinns
My guess is its because Finland = cold, coffee = warm.
12 kg a year?
and very very very dark = sleepy
other countries use other drinks, like Russian vodka... ;-)
(I prefer hot milk with chocolate)
do they sell red bull in finland?
yes and some others
I discovered that they sell Monster here, which I didn't know. And I decided not to buy it simply because I don't like their sponsorship of Jenson. That, and I don't like energy drinks.
wow!
Do you want me to bring you some samples to Spa? :)
I know mad croc because they sponsor Mika and I think Heikki occasionally. And battery because they are the most famous. But I've never tried any.
only if you can handle hyper mr. c.
sounds like fun :D #sorryChristine
hehe.
just saw the last live show, the moment with the fantasy racers prize is priceless :D
WHAT??
never ask me act. that is all.
*to act.
btw kathi, what did yours say?
you where perfect ;-)
2010. Which is good because now I don't have to play next season. Or is there a FR for rally?
:D
sadly no rallying, no.
I am going to be really boring and go to bed. I am sure there are enough people Amy-sitting that I am not needed.
night sir.
good night. we'll take care of her
Hyvää Yötä (don't force me to pronounce that)
I just got a new theme in the latest update. It is pink ..
Morning everyone :)
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far. I am podcast editing!
Morning! . . . or closing in on midnight here.
:)
good morning one and all! It is nearly twenty to eight in the morning here!
I have finally put my roast in the oven and its almost 7pm. It shall be a very late dinner!
hi! You are featured in my alternative Jingle Bells song on the wiki. You may want to have a look if you get the chance.
I saw it, I looooooove it :D
Aaaah, the daily's looking good in my ever so biased self.
Morning folks.
:) Morning RG.
Mr C how goes your daily post?
Moooooorning!
Am off to the station, watch my twitter today to see how my challenge is going!

Adios
Guys...
I have done a Jingle Bells entry...
Where can I put it?...
http://wiki.sidepodcast.com/page/2009 Sidepodchristmas Carol
If you post it here. I'll copy it to the wiki if you'd like :)
link fail. http://wiki.sidepodcast.com/page/2009 Sidepodchristmas Carol
"If you post it here. I'll copy it to the wiki if you'd like "
Many thanks James...
Here goes... sorry if it's a bit long...
Verse 1
Running fast and low
In a sponsor-less machine
No-hopers have the glow
Of winners not has-beens
Who’d have thought the Brawn
Could beat the big grandees
No-one thought when they were born
That nightmares turn to dreams
Chorus:
Jenson wins, Ross Brawn grins
Champions all the way
But big Ron comes a calling
And steals the “1” away
Merc are cross, at their loss
Though Rosberg’s on the way
Norbert works a big surprise
And signs Nelson Piquet
Verse 2
Lewis looking down
Doesn’t like the “2”
Makes damn sure the car
Puts Jenson in the poo
Anthony will smile
John Button getting cross
War will break out in the pits
And Macca lose their gloss
Jenson wins etc...
Verse 3
Silver arrows team
Just can’t win a lot
But off the track it’s clear
They’re seen as very hot
Call in Simon Cowell
To help Norbs with a plan
To make back his investment by
The Jnr/Nico band
Jenson wins etc
That's it...
Something's a tad wrong as I haven't mentioned Kimi....
Just did me own, couldn't go through a whole thing without mentioning Timo...
You are far more talented than I!
You can do the singing ;)
what a shame I am illiterate and can't read the lyrics. Ahem.
Morning folks
You know that Lockerz.com site I posted about much earlier on in this post? I did some research and it is legit.
I have a note on Facebook at the moment which explains everything I could find.
For those who can see this:
http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=186909434054
So what do you think? :P
love it!
ah. i best get cracking on that.
no way that beats my all-time favorite drink: peppermint mocha! YUM.
Oh yes I just remembered - I saw some trainers in a sports shop yesterday, they were Reebok ones I think, but they were white and they had black and flourescent yellow flashes on them! Just like Brawn! I took a pic on t'iPhone, I'll put it up there in a bit. :P
I don't like mint flavoured anything so that one is out for me :D
awww. Oh well. Is it true stefanovic has denied buying the entire Toyota entry, or something like that?
Apparently there was even an agreement to use the team's 2010 car design plans as well.
In here : http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80357
Tis good news
Hello.
I'm having a good day. I had my hair cut, it was getting silly so it had to go. Then I bought an apple danish which I am about to eat with a coffee. After lunch I'll be doing a 3hr past exam paper..
I agree.
#drinkresponsibly.
If I drink as much as I did last weekend, and I've taken my car, we ain't going nowhere on Monday.
Not sure how that works with 'having a good day' ;)
Hey
There were complaints in our local newspaper when a Costa Coffee opened in our little town. "How dare they! They'll take trade from our local coffee shops. We don't want our town looking like all the others."
It opened. It's fine. It's much better than the boarded up windows of the failed bar who's premises it occupies.
That's because I haven't started yet.
That makes sense.
Ahh but I bet our consumption of tea is far higher.
They sell Monster here. It tastes much nicer than Red Bull but they only sell it in big cans and the quantity of it gave me the shakes..
Jake Humphrey is doing footie today. This is his view from the sofa:
http://yfrog.com/4f3o4j
nice. he needs a better phone though!
cheeky :)
I guess this is the Phoenix principle at work. Assets do not an entry make. But it's rather confusing. Thanks for the update - no regular Internet access here.
I have found a new coffee chain over here called caribu coffee.
It's awesome... free WiFi and I feel like I am in a cosy log cabin in the mountains :D
Lots of cream and choc flakes on my Mocha too :D
just reading dank's latest: http://www.motorsportmusings.co.uk/2009/11/nostradamus-i-aint/
where did this come from?
http://www.violetmount.com/leg.png
i love it.
and they also do white choc mocha too!
Just trying out my new phone.
ooh, what has you got?
Afternoon all.
Time for another productive day, I think.
oh balls.
HTC Hero, I got it yesterday and am just starting to play with it. If anyone can recommend good Android applications, let me know
Dont fill up the internets too much! :D
we should introduce a word limit for her.
ahh, i know a lady who does.
Good choice :D
Beebplayer is a must have
Barcode reader is good, wheter you actualy use it or just amuse yourself with it :D
wikitude is fun to play with
Compass is quite handy
Flashlight is really silly and looks pointless (it just turns the whole screen bight white) but i have found it quite handy
Another tip would be to have bookmark shortcuts on one of your homescreens, its much better than using the HTC widget ;)
Thanks Nick
Hi there!
To be honest, I don't spend a vast amount of time in the app marketplace, I heart the Android for it's Googleness. But I can tell you the ones I have:
beebPlayer
Last.fm
Loquacious (which seems to have stopped working - boo)
WikiMobile
Solitaire
AK Notepad
Google Listen
Qik
Barcode Scanner
BreakTheBlocks
BetterBookmarks
Diner Dash 2
Locale (have blogged about this)
Oh and tasKiller is an android essential.
You can use it to close background processes if they start to make your phone slow ;)
thanks for that Christine, will investigate all of the ones you & Nick have. Interesting you both have Beebplayer
Christine, you will be pleased I've just done two blog posts!! :D
Sadly Android don't do an app that cleans your flat whilst you play with your new phone :( Catch you all later
Ooooh, awesomeness!
:)
http://alwayslookingforward.wordpress.com/2009/11/28/music-suggestions/
http://alwayslookingforward.wordpress.com/2009/11/28/ipod-apps/
Does it have an app to stop you watching Voyager when you should be working?
i left a comment, but it appears to have gone away :(
SHOO!
hmm how odd. i can't see anything either.
Oh wait. Mr C wordpress thought you were spam.
always does.
apparently spammers go under the name "mr. c."
:)

something different for your saturday. i haven't heard it yet, shall listen now.
Before F1 goes to far in their cost reductions and trying to get everyone to have Cosworth engines they should look at the disaster that Moto 2 (250 series of MotoCycle Racing) is.
"Moto2, where bikes will use 600cc engines, replaces the 250cc category.
All bikes will have to use Honda engines and Dunlop tyres."
Aprilia has withdrawn despite having had six bikes in the top ten in last year's championship and supplied bikes to the majority of the field.
Their statement goes
"Therefore the Group feels it unnecessary and damaging for the image of a great Italian and European motorcycle manufacturer - who has won 43 world titles in road racing and off-road - to take part in competitions forcibly centered around the engine technology of a rival constructor."
Gets the thumbs up from me, very interesting.

Oh, nearly forgot to mention, it is the birthday of a certain Rob Smedley. {Original entry}
Happy birthday Rob!
I am celebrating by re-reading the interview he gave Autosport last week (he also did one for F1 Racing but I think the Autosport one is better).
Oh shoot, I just remember I still haven't re-paid the deposit for Ali's karting event in January! Ali, would you mind sending an invoice now so I can get it done? :)
When I moved to Melbourne there was one on every corner and then they seemed to realise that was ridiculous and they shut 80% of them. Now they're quite hard to find.
am trying to think of an #mfc way to consume starbucks, but it's just drinking coffee. {Comment #132}
My nearest Starbucks is 20 miles away, though there are a number of smaller chains in my hometown.
#mfc way of consuming Starbucks: get it made from the comfort of your own home via the Hyper Text Coffee Pot Control Protocol. Originally it was an April Fool's joke, but the write-up was so detailed that there have been attempts to make it a real protocol. It hasn't been made compatible with Firefox, for example, so a genius programmer will be needed to take the concept mainstream, but after that...
Though since I don't like tea or coffee, even that wouldn't sell a Starbucks coffee to me!
Oh shoot, I just remember I still haven't re-paid the deposit for Ali's karting event in January! Ali, would you mind sending an invoice now so I can get it done? {Comment #237}
Will do! There's still time :) And by the way, the amount on the invoice is the full fee, not the deposit...
Check your e-mail.
All done! :P

#howlongbeforemrckillsme?
toolate!
Just got to thinking following the mass of new threads yesterday that we could have had one on Rob and all things Rob today...
Including Christine's favourite picture of course...
But perhaps that's been done before....
Happy birthday Rob....
I've sorted out Scott's invoice. See you in Birmingham :D
Reminder to everyone else: if you haven't paid yet, the deadline is the end of November 30. That's the end of Monday. There are still places remaining for those who are interested - please e-mail me if you're interested in coming.
Well, well, well...
You'll never guess who was fastest in the kart qualy?....
He's Brazilian...
And has never come second in the WDC....
No way. Didn't know Pele was a good kart driver...
what??
So how many we got in total for karting?
The man has tallent!
Can we do it at dubai autodrome?
i finally saw a greggs in london today. I can now relax in the knowledge they exist ;)
Phew!!
poor lou. She looked petrified when i pointed it out like a kid on christmas morning :p
Did you go in?
we did but it was basically empty and it smelt bad. #disappointing
NO! I was flying in Bahrain on F12009, then the engine dies!
London don't do Greggs. Just an excuse of one I think
Was there any warning or did it just go bang out of the blue?
Bang out of the blue. :( Ah, well. I'm only 5 points behind first place in the championship.
RedBull renault?
Torro Rosso Ferrari. (playing career mode)
Goodness me! It took us an entire evening to get a single point.
#musttryharder
Are you using the rectangular wheel mejiggy?
anyone know where Iver is??
last seen entering a shed, somewhere in the top left-hand corner of wales i think.
why?
nope.
multiple cancellation and delays at london paddington because of circuit failure in the iver area... Wondering if it will affect london-swansea train...
Ah perhaps thats the problem :P
Perephials make you
look sillygo faster! :Pahh, that iver. west of london i think, so possibly.
eek. :(
Have you guys heard that Dubai is apparently £41 billion in debt?
You have GOT to be joking. Iver problems, track problms between London and Reading and a trackside fire at Newport............. Jeez....
The problem isn't the debt itself, but the fact they can't pay it back!
Various sources quote even higher figures.
It was more than that... they have been for a while, admitting the extent of it is a good sign though, it will make it much easier to fix
Hello all.
#timetobuyagoodbook
i knows that feeling :)
Evening
Haha I think financial problems follow you around
#blamenick
:)
What did i do now!?
Also i should be working...
#Busted
i feel really bad that Ive just got home and am now in the dry. I should have stayed with you!!
Hi all
Awww have the two of you been out on a day trip? :D
by the sounds of it, you still have time to go back and find him.
Hey lou. Have a fun day though?
Oh btw Mr C have you done something to the mobile doohickey? I don't have my phone to hand but last time i tried to use it, it was deleting my name and email after each comment which has never happened before
ooh. i shall look.
yep :)
don't tempt me, it's horrible here at home.. very rainy and yucky..
very fun day thanks :)
I hope you avoided balconys... they are dangerous!
we went to Greenwich and the planetarium etc.. was lovely. no balconys though..
Productive day then?
getting there
btw if nick is around i shall use his logic and suggest that because the Greggs we saw today was rrrrubbish i shall never go in one again ;)
:P:P
:D
Come up north, we got good ones.
Honest.
If you have been to one before and it was good though then that rule doesnt apply ;)
Unless it was really bad/offensive/they threw you out for no reason ;)
:)
sssuuuuurrrreee ;)
never been in a greggs before.. Lukeh spotted it as we were walking and dragged me in to have a look at it, it was a disappointment.
15 in one mile, I think at least one of them must be good ;)
Christine, you would have liked the show we saw at the planetarium, it was narrated by David Tennant :)
I posted this earlier but i just remembered
http://www.cariboucoffee.com/ awesome coffee shops, i am in the desert but i fealt like i was in a mountain lodge...
I dont think they are in the uk yet, but they should be!

a shop with not much in it...
FYI: balance sheets and P&Ls are really boring
ah.
#doingsomethingwrong
;)
worst. Greggs. Ever. It didnt even smell like greggs. Clearly it was a mirage.
nah, I'm doing practice exam papers and the numbers work, unfortunately it seems to be taking my soul :-)
have you left london yet?.. am feeling guilty i left you there...
am on a very long winded train to reading from waterloo (typical) have no other choice at the mo. Damn trains. No need to feel guilty at all though, none of us knew it was gonna happen
i hope you get home soon!! :)
It has that tendency.
Quick comment before I leave you guys to head out into Norwich tonight - mum was suggesting earlier that instead of buying each other presents we get a Wii between us! :D
good luck
Excellent
"nah, I'm doing practice exam papers and the numbers work, unfortunately it seems to be taking my soul "
Just think that the figures are about something you enjoy... like an F1 team....
Think of them as telling a story in numbers rather than words...
Of course.... it could be a blockbuster, gripping biography or .... a real bore that you wouldn't get past the first chapter of......
Right... I see your point...

Wild and crazy rookie

Oh, Irony, irony
Can't make this stuff up
How in the world does Renault think
This'll ever work ag-ain
Irony, irony
Major irony
I think they should name that turn
For mystery Witness X
yay. good stuff sir.
Thanks!
will you be joining us for a live sing-a-long?
Assuming there are no auditions (no way I could get past that), I might be able to be persuaded. However, no warranty is given for ear breakage.
;)
excellent :)
(i couldn't pass an audition either, so no)
I am taking this singing part seriously. But I don't think the likes of Guns N Roses is suited to Jingle Bells...
the same could be said about bob dylan, but it didn't stop axle trying ;)
Just got into Reading.... The amount if people is absurd...
how are you getting from there to home?
train going to Cardiff at 10 but long way so it'll be midnight or so till I get home.... If it goes to plan of course which nothing has this evening!! Lucky hat the day was so nice that I can just ignore this as much as poss. Feeling a little... Shaky from it all though which is stupid...
not surprised sir, stay safe.
omg! poor you! sorry!! i'll wait for you until your train goes next time i think. trains from london to kent are much more often and go much later..
seconded.
it's usually ok but there's obv been a huge cock up apparently the train opposite me has been there for 3 hrs. Madness.. Sorry don't mean to make anyone worry!! I'm a trooper :P
starship trooper?
Storm!
oh right.
Train is arriving yay warmth!!!!! Will let you guys know I'm ok on the other side
Were the trains from Reading running normally when you went in to London? There was a problem on that line when I was down....
Hey Mr C, the daily deadline is in about fifteen minutes. Don't think you're getting any special treatment.
wha? i haven't even started.
shoooot!
yeah it happened this vening apparently. Was fine earlier
safe journey :) i hope you're phone battery lasts too!
You're the one that said 10pm would be better ;)
I can see why they were posted at 8am in the past with Mr C in charge.
i did. damn.
Oh okay. Boooooo! Obviously an unlucky line!!
Yeah, you get home fine lukeh ;)
Greetings all
Hahahaha last time I saw Mr C write one, he made the post at 00.01 and then filled it later so Christine wouldn't notice it was late :P
#sorrymrc
oh no...
hey steven
WHAT???
He alwayes gets found out. Mainly because people post coments like that
damn the realtime web.
I'll get the popcorn.
oops?
i'd run off and write your post mr c ;)
Or keep giving Christine wine until she falls asleep and pull the same trick again
not helping.
Looks like Joe is happy about the return to Canada
http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2009/11/28/back-to-canada-hooray/
Oh look. An owl. Over there.
That should distract people
I have cheese :)
Yummy yummy processed cheese
I was walking through town earlier and the market was on, at the end of it were two women holding an owl each. This town is bizzare.
BOOO
*disclaimer: works for a cheese company
? :(
processed??
:)
It's smoked as well. I just had a real craving for it.
Are people allowed to just grab passing owls?
Ooooh, 10:01, is the daily done?
grr.
#nothelpingeither
oh smoked is unputdownable so i understand.
shoo?..
Great timing RG
I did mine before 10pm...
Good evening peeps
Just watched "Up"
Most pleased now
evening!.. still haven't seen 'Up'.. really want to though..
Our cheese is hand-made cheddar. I must be a snob because nowadays I sneer at anything less.
Hey Bassano
Mr C. I have a crazy obsession with www.deadoraliveinfo.com
this will be very useful for your daily post if you aren't adverse to mentioning the people who died on the 29th of November.
Happy Birthday Randy Newman (but you don't have a friend in me)
Processed cheese is for burgers [when there is no alternative]
OH MY GOSH. Best film of all time!!!!!
:D :D :D
Evening.
I watched Cannonball Run, a fascinating doco about Berlin, and the Heston goes back to Little Chef programme (our company supplies his revamped one with bacon but it was interesting in itself..).
Ahem I mean hi?
oops. Happy Birthday Rob! (and anyone else I have forgotten)
I think it's up there with Wall*E and Finding Nemo
haven't seen Wall*E either :(
!!
i know :( i wanted to, but there was no one to go with :(
Up is far superior to WallE
Just thinking about it makes me clap my hands in glee!!!
Of the three I've only seen Finding Nemo.
Monsters Inc. rocks!
Must see Up asap.
You all have to agree that Steve Jobs rocks. There can't be anyone in the world you hates both Apple and Pixar
bill gates?
Yeah, I really like that too
John Goodman & Billy Crystal do such a great job
Won't go as far as saying he rocks. But Pixar does indeed rock.
Apparently has a lot of admiration for Steve, not sure about his company involvements though
same. then again i haven't seen star wars, or titanic either.. i fail at watching films (although i don't actually want to see titanic :) )
I watched Titanic and wished I hadn't
Pixar shorts are highly recommended too
my grandfather watched it once and i remember him telling me one thing about it 'the boat took too long to sink' nuff said in my opinion.. :) plus 'the song' drives me insane!
Did you see the clouds?? Look out for Mr Stork, look out for Mr Stork.....
They are the best things ever....
i loved the short pixar movie about the birds on a telephone wire. so funny! :)
in the early 1980s, over 50% of Microsofts business was Mac software
some days I think I'll scream if I hear one more person say they didn't know you could get word or excel for mac
'For The Birds'
Shown with Monsters Inc.
oh the song is awful
I didn't know
that's it! :D tis amazing
Unless you have or are looking to get a Mac, there's not much need for you to
The travellor returns
Hellooooo :)
I have no idea where you've been.
Most of the London Underground?
Join hte club ;)
I completed my challenge...kinda...
hey Jon
??
most of the underground was shut today? well it felt like it.. stupid tubes!
JON!!
I know the jubilee line is having longterm weekend maintenance, didn't know it was widespread elsewhere
Hi Jon, btw
I had to visit 10 tube stations (that were picked out for me) in a certain order...
However i got there at 12 and realised that i wouldnt be able to get round them and have a fair crack at the trade show i'd gone up for, so i went there first and did that then did the other stations, but i couldnt do Westminster as the District, Circle and part of the Jubilee lines were closed, and as my camera wouldnt work (not enough phone battery) by that point, there wasnt a great deal of point in walking
all district, all circle and part of jubilee :D
i wanted to use the jubilee... wasn't really effected.. apart from faulty info on the website.
ah but you got most of them?
Did ya have a nice day?
9 of 10, and have photo proof for 7 of those :)
+ cool blog post i wrote
excellent!
So you went to 7 then?? :P
i went to 9 you'll just have to trust me :P :P
No photo = it didn't happen
hmpf!
Don't blame me! It's been said to me many times.....
Next up, I have a choice of 'Moon' with Sam Rockwell or catching up on 'True Blood'
really really nice day thank you :)
woop. i tried to DM you to go to winter wonderland at Marble Arch, i found myself there by chance, it was soooooooo awesome. but it didnt work, booo
correct
What was today's London visit for Lou, just a general wander?
you have an underscore in your name! Boo, thats why
What in the hell were underscores invented for?
i have no idea, but clearly, they suck
Because Mac OS wasn't around yet
I concur :)
Lukeh and i went to Greenwich, to the planetarium etc. :) was a lovely.. but slightly cold day :)
I have one in my email address and it annoys me no end.... Stupid waste of space.
Evening all.
I'm just waiting for my train home which isn't for another half an hour. I haven't been home because I had a Christmas party last night and a dinner party tonight. Christmas party was great - was drinking until 3am and got way too drunk. So I spent today nursing a hangover at my mates house where I stayed. We went for a bike ride and he made rotis with fried chick peas which were a brilliant hangover cure. Then we went to another friends house and he made Paella for us. Excellent stuff!
I hear something happened to Lukeh. I hope you're ok dude!
ohh.. sorry.. i wouldn't have picked it up anyway.. text messages are the only way to contact me while i'm out and about most of the time..
Greenwich is nice
Iwould say that would be a brave choice in late November
Glad you had fun
we were inside for a bit of the time, and i had a nice toasty jumper and coat on.. Luke was freezing though..
ah, did wonder, anywho when it got rejected i tried lukeh too but it came back with "lukehmuse is not following you so you cannot DM him" booo
I have never been to a planetarium. How do they get the planets in?
Was it interesting?
Hi Gavin
he's on a rather slow train home..
really? what happened? :(
#LHC ?
ah ok. not as dramatic as i'd thought, but still boo
HI Gavin
Lukeh's first comments were 'ooo it's like a cinema on the ceiling' i love planetariums they are awesome! lots of awesome graphics that make you feel like you are going through space :)
Glasgow Science Centre has one
have a read back through the comments :)
ah that sucks. Well hopefully mine won't be but I had to wait an hour for it.
Don't know why I didn't think of that
When are they gonna start smashing atoms?
I need to go to one then. They always seemed a bit odd to me
That is a bit more convenient than London.
A few days ago
I thought they were just switching it on and then going for the energy record or something
I want Bose Higson! [sp?]
Higgs-Boson, rather than Charlie Higson in high quality sound.
:D Thanks
the one in greenwich wasn't expensive, so it's worth a look at the one in glasgow..
Do you think they will have the same planets?
HIGNFY done, what now..
So how many we got in total for karting? {Comment #248}
As of now? 12 confirmed, 1 probable (I won't know until Monday at the earliest but I think he's really keen).
ehehehehe depends which show you go and see :)
Can we do it at dubai autodrome? {Comment #250}
Sorry, I can't afford the air fare. Maybe next year...
Is there a plan in case 'he' turns up?
The Thick Of It is on, that can be good..
dare you to say planet-arium like they do in South Park every time you reference it
punch him
That'll work, pics or it didn't happen - remember ;)
Question, is there any sort of age limit on it?
video with a caption stated "sidepodcast does not endore happy-slapping"
Even better
will you be joining us for a live sing-a-long?
Assuming there are no auditions {Comment #334}
I believe the audition goes along the lines of "Can you get a Skype line/phone call through to Sidepodcast Towers? Oh good, you're in the band!"
Also, there's a limit as to how badly ears can be broken given the poor quality of the average phone line...
Question, is there any sort of age limit on it? {Comment #492}
Yes. In theory, no under-18s (yes, I've had to turn someone down on that basis already).
In theory?
Well, thats me out for a few years.
(Or keep everyone waiting in the see of what a mix of Badoer and Alguesuari drives like)
you could always go and watch?
200 odd miles just to go and watch?
why? It's go karting isn't it?
oh.. maybe not.. come to goodwood instead!! goodwood is worth the travelling!:D
When is it next year?
All kart tracks have some kind of age limit for adult events. They range from 14 to 18.
seems silly to me if they let 8 year olds race them...
Not against adults though
3rd-5th July
http://www.goodwood.co.uk/site/content/festivalofspeed/Default.aspx
8 year olds don't drive adult karts
That's 2009?
Right. I'm with you now.
That site says it's provisionally 2nd-4th July 2010
OOPS. Similar time ish in 2010
Is there a plan in case 'he' turns up? {Comment #487}
Yes. The name that goes on the entry computer will be the one I expect to be used in any reference to that individual when discussing the event. I will also prevail on people to not post pictures of people who want their anonymity respected on the internet and hope everyone gets the message this time.
Perhaps a cheap assortment of masks might be useful...
was just checking the site and provisional dates are 2-4 July.
The theme has been announced too - 'Viva Veloce! – The Passion for Speed'
link
Shall see if I can go then ;)
Eh? For a second I thought you were talking about schumi but now I have no idea...
oooooo!!!
i'm not excited one bit about going to goodwood.. nope.. i've not already put it in my calender or anything... :D
In theory? {Comment #497}
I didn't see the organisers demand passports or anything last time, so I would guess that a suitably mature-looking 17-year-old might be able to sneak in. However that would be disrespectful to the organisers and risks the lot of us being thrown out if we were caught doing it.
I should explain 12-18-year-olds and under-16s can also compete at the track, but only in their own age categories, not mixed. I think there are safety reasons involved. And yes, there is overlap.
I should emphasise that there is no age limit on spectating.
Do you think the reigning world champion may turn up then?
Jenson loves the FOS.. am hoping he will continue with tradition and go next year :D
McLaren are probably arranging that as we speak
I could turn up and rock my class I suppose.
Well, thats me out for a few years.
(Or keep everyone waiting in the see of what a mix of Badoer and Alguesuari drives like) {Comment #498}
I can do the Badoer bit if that helps, though my driving style mixes more with Grosjean than Alguersuari...
If we can find enough people the right age, I would be willing to organise an event for your age group as well.
Is the definition of an obsessed fan someone who tweets a radio show host to find out how the object of her fandom takes his tea?
wow do you think you just head pinged jenson? he just showed up on twitter! lol
I thought it was just that they are all so light that they win everything :P
200 odd miles just to go and watch? {Comment #500}
If you was going to Autosport as well, it would make more sense. Then it would be only a 9-mile detour...
Hehe I'd come if I could compete with 8 year olds? :P
if it is i'm not an obsessed fan, i don't even know if Jenson likes tea :)
That could work but my only problem is I do have the tendancy to put things in walls.
Alex is in charge of the headping system. Looks like he is expanding beyond sidepodcast
http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/
i saw Christine ask Lisa on twitter :D hehe
Great. Train problems. We are literally stuck in the middle of nowhere.
Also, the route to my friends house tonight took 45 minutes on a bus-train-bus with little waiting between connections. We took a taxi back and it took 10 minutes! Even in a country with good public transport, it still sucks!
Eh? For a second I thought you were talking about schumi but now I have no idea... {Comment #516}
Put it this way - if Schumi turns up, we may have a slight problem. Not only have I no plans for what I'd do if anyone famous outside internet circles turned up, but the walls in the karting centre are covered in Renault 2006 pictures (presumably from a team trip there some time ago).
I'm learning German just so I can understand Timo's website........
I could turn up and rock my class I suppose. {Comment #523}
That would be great! Could you please ask them when next you see them?
I think he means his age group :)
Hehe I'd come if I could compete with 8 year olds? :P {Comment #529}
Are you young enough?
Seems to be the theme of the evening...
If you are of the same age as 8 year olds then Nick has alot to answer for
Yeah, that.
At this rate I may not get back before my wife comes home from her Christmas party!
Does she not know you haven't been home yet?
if it is i'm not an obsessed fan, i don't even know if Jenson likes tea :) {Comment #530}
I don't know if he does either - Formula 1 Yearbook 2008 has his favourite drinks listed as water and orange juice.
David Coulthard likes tea, if that's any help...
That could work but my only problem is I do have the tendancy to put things in walls {Comment #531}
I have a tendency to put things in walls too, as anyone who saw me last year will attest. Happily the friendly marshalls simply push you back onto the track or give you enough assistance to sort yourself out, depending on your position.
Of course. I may have been super smart by doing that because she hasn't had to deal with grumpy, hung over Gavin!
I think he means his age group :) {Comment #539}
If RG can find enough of said age group ;) ...
I'd put money on me not...
Anyways, match tomorrow and I want to catch MOTD in the morning, so nighty night all. lotsa love.
see ya! :)
Must. Stay. Awake. For. At. Least. Another. Hour!
See ya RG
Play games on your iPod Touch
niiiight
Night RG
But I also want to listen to podcasts and comment here!
That should also work
Did Mr C miss his daily post deadline? he's gone awfully quiet...
There are some strange dudes on the night train. I sat on a bench waiting for my train next to a guy who smokes small cigars - yuck!
Now there's a girl on the train who has her hair tied in such a way that she looks like she's wearing mickey mouse ears...
I am seeing if rFactor works with my upgraded PC. I don't have a wheel but I want to see if it looks any better.
By the way, if anyone on the blog is still thinking about coming to the karting but hasn't signed up, I'd like to remind everyone that the deadline is the end of this month. That's the end of Monday. Can I do better than 12 (or 13)?
if your PC is old I would suggest you take a look at iRacing - it's a lot better use of the system resources...
He's just finished. It took him a freaking hour and a half. Still, he beat the midnight deadline, so that's something.
#nothere
I finished before 10pm, I demand punishment (not that I'm harsh or anything...;))-
wow! how long is his daily post? :) yay for him beating the midnight deadline though :D
He owes Mrs C lots of milkybars
A certain princess from Star Wars perhaps?
jeez i'm glad i don't have to do that everyday.
I suffer from #mrcitis as well. Is there a cure? Do I need to just write something every day until I get over this obsession with every sentence having to be perfect?
is it sad that I'm excited for midnight GMT?
Mr C!! you're alive!! :)
GMT isn't all it's cracked up to be.. it's just a line on the floor... :D
it's not sad, it's very silly ;)
are you somehow unaware of my obsession with everyone on the internet being forced to refer to GMT when quoting times for things? :)
writing.is.hard.
(in the wrong place)
Huh?
[illusions shattered]
For the second time today i've read a word with "craft" in it as kraftwerk
bad times
Help me Obi Wan Gavobi... You're my only hope!
lou can probably tell ya. it's off by a couple of feet i think.
how did i manage that?... sorry :(
true. I love summer, but all of a sudden, the time difference between us means that I don't get to read the daily post until mid afternoon lunch break instead of on the train to work in the morning.
Hmmm. Summer wins. Weekends rock!
Didn't know that
What's that, a few seconds I suppose?
agreed.
I still think it's far superior to UTC
oh i thought you meant the comment...
oh i dunno.. we didn't spend much time by it today.. the view of london was much nicer than the silver line on the ground which everyone was crowding round.. plus i er may have forgotten to make sure my camera battery was charged so i ran out of battery very quickly.. :(
mexican mayonnaise (=LMAO)
heheh!
i forget the story, but given the tools at the time it was damn close. gps puts it further away under the nearest hedge i believe.
i should google it really.
an improvement!
London makes me very tired :(
the nearest hedge??...
one second and i'll do it for you ;)
how much?
Have been reading, seems there are a few Prime Meridiens
I stopped reading
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime_Meridian#United_Kingdom_Ordnance_Survey_Zero_Meridian
riiighht.. nice.. were they all little silver lines on the floor too? lol
from the beeb:
GPS's World Geodetic System 1984 system now places the Prime Meridian 100m to the east of Greenwich Observatory
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8266883.stm
Seems stupid that they ever changedit since it is a completely random line
ahhh okay :)
depends on how long you subscribe for...
exactly. worry about what it does for you rather than what it is.
will try it when i can afford a wheel and the sub, then... have budgeted to get F1 2009 on Wii first :-)
it's not cheap, but it's pretty good...
lou, any idea what jenson's up to?
http://twitpic.com/rda01
cycling?
Mercedes training camp I assume
Lanzarote
Some kind of training camp in Lanzarote apparently...
if it is Mercedes that makes me very happy....
"lets train him up and then get rid of him"
mercedes?
heheh i love how you ask me.. like i'll have the answer or something...
..
..
oh wait.. i do!
on twitter he says 'The start of our first day on training camp in Lanzarote! 100km on the bike come on!!!'
so... i assume something to do with the tri ichban team? or maybe to do with his RGActive trainer?
Right, trains nearly arrived. Goodnight guys and thanks for helping me stay awake ;)
night!
night
Niiiiiight!
you've never let us down yet :)
night chap.
Did a quick serach and it looks like this is not his first training camp in Lanzarote
http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?id=3390&PO=3390
Tri Ichban? RGActive?
If Journeyers joes RSS feed then lou must be JB's new PR lady ;)
I am sure the McLaren drivers used to go to a training camp with all the Merc drivers from DTM etc
mercedes?? noo.. he does these things occasionally. during the summer he did alot of cycling in a group in monaco. he loves Lanzarote so.. maybe a group decided to go out and do something like that?
Looks like ITV recycle stories more than GMM
http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?id=35159&PO=35159
I have definite bike envy
okay.... Tri Ichban was the name of his tri team for the london tri.. there was a group of them.. RGActive is just something i've picked up from Twitter, but he looked like he was training Jenson and a group of them this summer...
:D
i knows that ;) my point was the rest of the comment :P
lol...
I was right! it is to do with RGActive...take a look at the twitter feed.
http://twitter.com/RGActive
where did you get that from? its got a 2006 stamp at the top?
oh. :D lol
Normal search. The first one was more or less the same story from 2001. Can't find one on that site for this year but not doubt it will appear
