Frederiksborg Slot - a lovely day out :)
Hey guys – hope your week is going well. Happy birthday yesterday to Ivan Capelli and while we are on that subject, Congratulations to Sidepodcast for reaching ONE MILLION COMMENTS! That is an awesome achievement! And Happy Towel Day, everyone!
There’s only 1 more day until the action at the next Grand Prix begins, as Monaco always has Free Practice on a Thursday. Joe is driving down with DT, Mercedes and Ferrari are rushing to get everything there on time (and to restructure the team). BadgerGP have a list of their Top 5 Monaco Grands Prix – some classic races in there too. Viva F1 have a great preview while Renault think they have a great chance of winning, and you can read a great interview with their drivers here along with some amusing cartoons from Spain.
However, it looks like there was a bit of a fire at Ste. Devote – a truck was burnt to pieces which apparently damaged the asphalt. I wonder how that will affect the race this weekend?
If you can’t drive the track in real life, why not check out this amazing slot car replica of Monaco? That’s much better than the Scalextric I used to have when I was a kid…
Mark Hughes, has an analysis of the differences in pace between Red Bull and McLaren. But to be honest, he doesn’t really come to any meaningful conclusions. What do you think makes the Red Bull so fast?
Jarno Trulli became the most overtaken driver during their career in Spain – 270 times! Yay for the Trulli Train!
The FIA have decided (in a knee jerk reaction after the disbelief in the way the stewards handled the Spanish Grand Prix) to implement a sort of “Three Strikes” rule towards reprimands. Quite. DI Blundell wasn't too chatty after the race, probably for good reason ;)
Here’s some great photos of design details from the Cahier Archive. Unlike some other sites, who are using photos without permission…
Ever wondered what a Le Mans driver has to endure? Maybe Allan McNish can help explain it to you? And if you haven’t seen it yet, you MUST see Truth in 24…
Christine has posted her Team and Driver Rankings – lots of good links to check out and some great points allocations there! She’s also posted the next link in her A-Z Adventure and 30 Day song challenge too.
How is your running going? Amy had a great run the other day, and Christine is doing really well with her training. I ran intervals the other day because I want to run a sub 30 minute 5km race at the end of the year, and I plan to run around the turtle with my buddy today. I’ll let you know how it goes!
Lukeh has explained the sketching process behind his brilliant Bay Church sketch – some great tips in there too! Bassano found some creepy pics of old cisterns – they look very brightly lit up though? A Lego A Day has a great pic of a Star Wars Rock Band, while The Big Picture has a set on Iceland’s latest attempt to mess up the rest of Europe. Kathi, I hope you and the lambs are ok!
Some sad news. Denmark has banned Marmite! Not that I care much for the stuff, but the shop quoted in the article is a Mecca for all foods British and I’ve become a bit of a regular there ;)
Finally, I’ve been taking a few pics lately – the one embedded in the post is from a trip to a lovely castle called Frederiksborg, and I also ran into some Classic Race Cars in the middle of town the other day.
Enjoy your day, keep smiling and see you in the comments!
Congratulations Sidepodcast and thank you, Gavin, for reminding us of Towel Day!
Woooo for Towel Day!
Excellent daily Gavin :)
Don't forget your towel today. Or any day for that matter. You should always know where your towel is
The reprimand situation was previously two-strikes and a more severe penalty, but only if they were for the same type of incident (so two blocking incidents escalated the penalty but not one block and one avoidable collision).
so. many. awesome. links.
Those lego star wars rock bands are amazing. Also, I know Marmite is evil and everything but that is kind of crazy!
I love the McNish vid. It;s like one of those Disney live action/cartoon mixes. Truth in 24 is available on youtube

Hi gang
Gavin, I love the Frederiksborg pics! I was going to let you know my faves, but there are so many. I especially like http://www.flickr.com/photos/rubbergoat/5714065254/in/set-72157626581609797/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/rubbergoat/5714073112/in/set-72157626581609797/, but many more.
HIKai
Highly recommended. I loved it.
And what camera do you use? I love the crisp pictures.
I need to watch it again. I really enjoyed it the first time
Even when I knew what happened, it was still thrilling to go on the ride with them again. :)

The 3rd spacewalk of the shuttle mission is due to start at 1:46am Eastern / 6:46am UK.
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/main/index.html
It looks like the Spirit rover on Mars is finally dead. It has been running for 7 years and was originally only meant to last a few months so we have learned way more from it than could ever have been expected.
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/mer/news/mer20110524.html
@AJELive
#US gives up on contacting its robot on Mars, presumed frozen 'to death'
aww! I guess I'm thinking the Wall-E version or something. It's upsetting.
:)
It was only meant to last 3 months so in robot years it is already 800years old
Then it's more Yoda than Wall-E.
#i'mageekadultwithachild'smind
Yoda is dead?
Apparently he's 'frozen "to death"'.
But didn't he die in one of the movies? My brain is mush.
Didn't you see... ...oh, spoilers :(
There was a light sabre involved, fo sho.
I seem to remember him dying in one but I can't remember which
I'd like to send the mouse that is in my wall to go look for the frozen robot on Mars. Get 'im outta here! He's loud.
It's one of the ones that Lucas broke because I remember seeing his legs and him jumping around. It was wrong in all kinds of ways.
I can imagine that is very annoying
Return of the Jedi, shortly before Luke gets his mission to the second Death Star.
He sounds like he is doing mousey gymnastics in there! What is he DOING?
I will never understand how he went so wrong in those films. I think there was too much of a gap between 3 and 4 or 6 and 1 if you look at it that way. The really bad thing is there were originally 9 films with 7-9 being the last three to be made but after the last one he decided not to do them. WHo would voluntarily not make 3 Star Wars movies?
I have seen all those films several times but I have no sense in my head of what is in which film or any particular sequence beyond the basic story.
Maybe he is trying to tunnel out
The dude who thought of Jar Jar Binks.
Someone who changed his mind about what story the Star Wars films were telling twice during the time he was writing the first trilogy. I think the one which caused him to drop the sequels, but during the 1990s there appeared to be a rule that nobody could write more than 25 years after the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, maybe in case George changed his mind.
Also, there is a Clone Wars film, so there is a Star Wars 7 (or should that be 2.5?)
I'm ready to cut a whole in the wall and let him out myself. That or get a shotgun and blow the hell outta that wall. It's a toss up.
There had to be drugs involved in that
It's the last of the old trilogy. Luke went back to Dagobah a short way into the film to complete his training. He has an argument with Obi-Wan Kenobi (again), then resolves to complete his training. Unfortunately Yoda decides not to do so and that is his death scene.
It's more of a flipping around sound than a digging sound. Mouse de soleil.
That's basically me, too, at this point. We must both be 27. ;)
I found him really funny... ...but then I was 12 at the time and therefore just in the target audience for the Jar Jar character.
Gas him
"meesa think so!"
:D
:D
My quest for a long enough night's sleep shall end with achieving it tonight, mouse or not. I have ear plugs for just such an occasion.
By the way, it's gotten hot here now, getting up to 82F/28C in the afternoons. Me no likey.
Cheers, folks. Good night.
Can't you sleep in a room that is not on the same wall as the mouse?
Warmer is better.
Nope. Tiny 1 bedroom apartment-itis.
You would think the mouse would pick on someone with options
oh no, you don't know the New England mice. They're like us New Englanders. Persistant.
and what's the fun in that? :)
Persistent mice? No wonder it is doing circus tricks
One day it will disappear and annoy someone else
I have a way of accelerating that process.
#confidential from Mr. Mouse
Oh yeah, he's lovin' this.
Clever hashtag
snap trap!
Fill the wall cavity with nitrogen. Suffocate the mouse and if it leaks through to you it doesn't matter
You read my mind, "hm. what could I pump in there that wouldn't kill me too?"
Where do I get the nitrogen?
Alright, I must go to sleep.
Good night. :)
That could be difficult unless you know someone with a legitimate reason to buy industrial gases. Of course a school would be allowed to buy it
Good night
I've found some friends for the photographers. The Tennis Writers Association have asked Roland Garros to stop posting full press conference transcripts on their website so that fans can't read them. The writers have promised to give "relevant quotes" instead and now the multitudes of bloggers can't write stories. Absolutely stupid.
For all the space nerds. you can use google earth to live track the shuttle. could be cool for the launch and landing phases
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/shuttlemissions/shuttle_google_earth.html
It's the same everywhere, Everyone who has been in a closed shop for years wants all progress stopped. Just shows how many journalists have not had an original thought in their lives and just re-has press releases and press conferences. Now everyone has access to that they have to put some effort in and have some real ability to get paid.
That looks interesting. Shame there is only one more launch to go.
Bed time for me.
Night all
(puts on optimism hat) but two landings ;)
me too actually. glad we weren't about to have a conversation !!
"We are very sorry, we have been asked by the International Tennis Writers Association not to release transcripts of post-match interviews so as not to disadvantage reporters here at the French Open. You can find many of the relevant quotes in the articles posted on our website"
What a joke. By not seeing what questions the journos are actually asking it's impossible to know what an answer actually means. I've read plenty of stories about Federer throwing tanties but when you read the actual transcript he's given a perfectly acceptable answer to a ridiculous question. The journos clearly try to push players into saying things that make good stories and now we can't even get the truth behind them.
Sleeeepyyyy :)
I'm in Amsterdam. My flight has an ominous flashing Please Wait next to it....
I listened to an interesting think on the radio the yesterday about how the shuttle has set back space exploration heavily over its lifespan.
Nasa went from focusing on a deep space capable system to one which was only capable of shallow earth orbit.
It was a great bit of tech, but ultimatly so expensive it took nasa away from bigger projects

Oh well done for a million comments!
I kinda want to get a cat just so it can play on my ipad http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaif2uq_0Vc&feature=player_embedded#at=89
Morning, thanks for all the nice comments :)
Just a box camera - a Panasonic DMC-TZ4. The car pics were taken with an iPhone4 and post processed in the Camera+ app. My normal pics are post processed in Microsoft Office Picture Manager ;)
This pic that you liked: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rubbergoat/5714065254/in/set-72157626581609797/ - that was taken from a boat jetty on the lake, while on my knees to get more of the lake in the shot. I got some funny looks but I think it came out well - the light was fantastic that day too!
Morning SPC and congratulations on over 1,000,000 comments !!
Gavin, Are you aware of the marmite ban in Denmark? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-13536479
The brits here are very riled up about it!
Suggestions i have heard to retaliate to the injustice include boycotting Danish bacon, covering the danish royals with marmite, and putting marmite on Danish pastries before earting them!
*Nick didn't read the Daily*
imagine the hours it took to post those comments given the fact that majority of it came from rather small number of people :-)
in the meantime I am celebrating 6 month anniversary since my blog went on break
Happy bloglessness
Ah, no
i save that for lunchtime reading and link clicking :)
IndyCar Ping -->
http://theformulaoneandmotorsportsarchive.wordpress.com/2011/05/25/2011-indianapolis-500-mile-race-rd-5-bump-day-may-22nd/
yes, it has been happy, no urge to get back, looks like it was the right call :-)
Hehe.
I don't care for the stuff myself, but the shop in question is a small shop in the middle of town that sells lots of British goods that you don't normally find here. The article is pretty much spot on though!
#confidentalfromnick (as I don't want to spoil it for him!)
I just had an excellent run around the turtle! Best of the year so far! http://runkeeper.com/user/RubberGoat/activity/36815543
woohoo! Thats an awesome run :)
It felt like it. I have been having bad lower back pains, but since I've been doing situps every morning the pains have gone. I only have to worry about the legs now!
it sells here although after trying it once I do not feel like trying again :-) but ban like that smells fishy - sounds like protectionism rather than food safety issue ...
Don't know. There's a lot of stuff going on right now that's not suitable for here. It's all little things, but they add up to something else...
Someone far smarter than I has created a spreadsheet to work out which Olympics tickets you got based on how much money they took if you don't want to wait until June 24 to find out.
However according to @Pearcesport no one in the whole country seems to know anyone who has had money taken despite their promise to have 60% of people done by midnight tonight.
I'm pleased Britain is waiting and tearing its hair out like I still am :)
... and all this because of the biggest money wasting event there is :-) #notfanofolympicsatall
booo I'm sick of hearing about what people don't like money being spent on. No one ever likes everything.
well, remains to be seen what happens with all that is build in London after the Olympics ... but lots of white elephants left behind in China (not talking the other implications it had and still has on lives of many...) and all of Europe is paying for the Athens Olympics bill ... and all this so people can count number of medals...
#Am_staying_quiet-living_near_the_olympic_area
I live in ex-Olympic city :-) (although we only had equestrian here)
I will only say that I'm worried
I can confirm no money has gone from mine yet.
it just reminds me of the people who whine about the GP here every year "rarrr I don't like it so it shouldn't exist, how dare you spend my taxes on it"
I don't use buses, hospitals or schools but I don't whine about my precious taxes going towards them.
And what about the millions of people who DO want to go? I've wanted to go for years and years and years and years and everytime I mention my excitement theres always someone waiting to tell me why it sucks and why I shouldn't want to go.
"Dear FanVision Customer,
If you will be using your G3 at the Grand Prix in Monaco, the activation code is XXXX."
I wonder when they're going to get their fancy web system up and running.
well, yes, but one should think about number of people who want to go vs number of people who pay for that. I am sure if ticket prices reflected the cost of hosting the venues would be empty ... Maybe F1 is a good example - Olympics almost bancrupted Montreal, F1 does not and they pay for it year after year and when they missed out one year they quickly came up with the $$$ ....
But if there wasn't a demand for the Olympics then it wouldn't happen either. They are all businesses after all.
Apparently the Sydney Olympics cost the country 2.1 billion, the country is still here.
I know that its expensive and every nation that hosts it has lost billions for the last however many times yet still people keep bidding to host it. There must be some reason for that.
I have now read the daily.
So gavin, what are your plans for civil disobedience to protest the blockade? :)
not only business, 2008 was one massive propaganda theater like the one 72 years earlier ...
1992 was the last time an Olympics broke even (Madrid). It can be done if the bidders don't get carried away.
Barcelooooona!
I'm not surprised Madrid broke even given it was in Ba........Celona!
Madrid broke even, Barcelona broke :-) (just kidding)
Roll up, roll up, guess the weight of our baby http://tinyurl.com/AAguess
Just a bit of fun.
ah well, we spent $46 million on bidding for the football world cup and have absolutely nothing to show for it :D
Oops, sorry! :D But that Olympics broke even.
Kat is guessing both ways, thats cheating!
I just hope you don't do a Federer and lead the world to believe you're having a boy then WHAM surprise twin girls. Those twins gave me a heart attack.
I wonder how many people they could fly to qatar for that money instead
she is a bit sneaky like that.
We don't know the gender.
And it's certainly not twins!
Only Giggles would set up a Google spreadsheet and form for something like that.
I like that, I think I could do that for a second baby but not for a first. I like planning too much :)
phew!
Awesome!
I dont know how much babies way though, any help?
:)
There is a 1 in 10 or maybe 20 chance that they are wrong. And I don't think I would like to have the wrong answer. I think that would be tough to cope with.
The UK average is 7 pounds 8 ounces (3400grams)
and so have all the failed bidders for Olympics ...
do not take me wrong, I have nothing against fundamental idea of Olympics. but what I am against is the massive cost involved paid for by governments that are already in huge debt ... living beyond means just so people can for 2 weeks pretend they do care about shooting, takewondo, rhytmic gymnastic or football with 3rd rate teams fielded etc ...
as long as you can let me be excited about seeing none of the above events we'll be just fine :)
Many thanks! :)
and there goes the Olympic spirit :-)
oooh I went 7lb 4oz and I pulled that out of thin air, I had no idea I'd be guessing so close to average :)
I get really confused and have no idea if thats "big" or "small" when people tell me their baby weight in metric which is quite odd, I don't understand anything else in imperial.
oops, i went metric, i only understand pints and MPH in Imperial (very important measurements ;) )
I know that I was 4lb and that is wee for a baby, thus I compare all babies to me :)
You're having a baby? Congratulations!!
I have no idea how much i was, and probably no way of knowing,
If i asked my dad im pretty sure he would say "About yay big" or something :)
I was meant to be born on my brothers birthday but I don't like sharing so I turned up early :)
no matter how big they are when they arrive they do grow fast once they are out #personalexperience
I was 12lb which is big for a baby as you can imagine me being 3 times larger than you!
I was meant to be born on April Fool's Day, the same day as my next-door neighbour. I was early and she was late!
woah!
I am pictureing babies in burgers as they are the only other thing i know which use pounds, and that is a lot of quarter-pounders sir!
None. I don't care and if I did, I'd still be living in the UK or NZ or something. Going to that shop is good for a laugh once in a while but I don't get regular supplies from there. Denmark has plenty of nice foods anyway.
I am trying to search the release dates of the Senna movie in this part of the world, if not for cinema than at least on a disk. No luck getting the info I am looking for (probably there isn't any) but I do get within seconds lots of links for download of the movie ... Obvious consequence of the fact that the movie simply isn't legally available over a half year since it was first shown to selected few ... And then the studios complain about piracy ... They never learn ...
So Maverick can relax... because the FIA Media centre is open again for Monaco (as Alianora suggested)...
It's really hard not to see a pirate copy for me. I don't get it.
Har har!
my friend has blogged about the ridiculousness of the tennis writers. I didn''t often read transcripts and I certainly don't blog about tennis but oooh this has made me mad
http://anygivensurface.wordpress.com/2011/05/25/the-stolen-word-controlling-the-transcripts/
6-0 to queensland at half time in the Rugby League state of origin,
Not sure i am confident to start making fun of the New South Welshman in the office just yet ;)
thats very low scoring!
I am watching Masterchef instead and then will switch to tennis :)
Who's winning the fights?
Booo! By the sound of it i wasnt aware anything else was allowed to happen in the whole of australia :)
The F1 football team lost 5-3 last night :(
Big tackles by QLD, no real punch ups yet
It probably doesn't elsewhere but I live in the AFL state :D
That's a really good post.
I really don't get the journalists, they say its to keep their "advantage"
Surely actually getting to attend the conferences and thus making sure you get to ask the questions that you want answers to is already a huge advantage?
Home sweet home :)
meh
If I wanted to keep my advantage I gained by moving to Hong Kong all those years ago I would have to file a petition that bans internet ...
No, because on a slow news day you can't sensationalise a banal comment.
Brushing off the ash?
Alright!!
but many will try
Yay!
ooh roger has already won tonight. I didn't realise he was playing so early. oops.
No issues. They waited a while to confirm my 2nd leg but it all went on time.
Excellent. Glad to hear it.
my favourite tweet so far on the issue is regarding players getting fined for being late to their pressers: "Why should the players be fined for missing chance to be misquoted?"
I've got to go to work in an hour. That is less excellent!
Cool video of the redbull show car run here last November
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQAZgBhYnsc
(done at 6am on the weekend)
New! Twitter will now email you everytime someone you follow replies to one of your tweets.
How annoying. I've only had one and thats one too many.
That is all the more reason for me to stay with the old version (aside from the new version plain not working on my computer).
It is unbelievable that the opt-in lesson still hasn't been learnt.
And that Twitter doesn't simply work it out from your settings. People who don't want to be emailed when they get a DM probably don't want to be emailed for every single reply either...
In other news, 25% of the Bahrain circuit's staff have been arrested. This may make it difficult for it to host the race...
Sorry, take 2:
In other news, 25% of the Bahrain circuit's staff have been arrested. This may make it difficult for it to host the race...
Joe linked to the original article yesterday from the FT
http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/ad623440-856e-11e0-ae32-00144feabdc0.html
(pitpass link)
That link didn't work on my computer and Joe declined to comment on it, so the first I knew this had happened was through Pitpass.
With FT articles i have to grab a look at the headline before it disappears then browse the hard copy in the office!
If you read the comments, people were saying that you could google the article and access it for free that way.
With the consent of the Times? I might not agree with the paywall but I wouldn't want to see people pasting their articles either.
No one's pasting their articles - they are in Google from the Financial times site.
Weeeird so what's the point of the paywall at all?
Free registration. You can access a certain number of posts for 30 days for nowt, but any more than that is a fee.

Since my computer refused to load the site, I don't think that would fix the problem. But thank you for offering a potential solution.
Of course, I could go into a library and access the Times for free that way (nearly all UK libraries have an institution-level arrangement with the Times where they pay a fixed annual fee for unlimited access).
Hearing slow word that Danica Patrick's full-time move to NASCAR Nationwide is on for 2012, unsurprisingly.
Not a bad idea, given she will get lots of cash she can use to buy slots on indycar grids :P
Sadly, her career has become more about fame than actually achieving anything. Shame really.
Yeah sure. why not? She seems to be better at NASCAR these days.
I think she had to do what she did to raise the bar for women drivers. But I agree she's gone too far...
Better to take something out of it, plenty of races fail to achive and end up nowhere.
I'm not sure posing in swimsuit editions of Sports Illustrated was raising the right kind of bars
For example, would you rather be Danica or Ide? :)
Top five in the IndyCar championship with a race win (2008) behind her in 2009isn't too bad. When she started doing both at the same time, her results suffered badly.
That's the too far bit, obviously.
K - I have an interview with Pippa Mann later on. Got a list of stuff sorted, but does anyone have any questions they might want me to ask her?
oooh awesome!
I'l l have a think - what do you have so far?
Would it be cheaper to stay at home when quali & practice are on, then just buy someone elses seat on the grid and turn up on race day?
Ho-hum!
Essentially, I have -
Tell me your feelings as we get closer to the event?
How did you deal with that tensions on Bump Day?
Thoughts about the circuit itself.
How has she found them jump to IndyCar?
Future drives this season, next and how the Indy500 influences those possibilities.
Budgetary / sponsorship difficulties?
What changed her approach following her 2010 hand injury?
What was the difference between qualifying and not qualifying? How did the team find the extra speed she needed between final practice and qualifying?
When is the Indy 500? This sunday?
Not sure about that - it was thought for a while that Saavedra might buy her seat, but Eric Bachelard said a firm "no" on Monday night.
Yep
Cheers,
Bugger. I'll be at a concert :(
:(
ah well, I only really like the last 50 laps anyway...
My afternoon has been made
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E06cNv55jTs&feature=related
:)
this Thursday practice thing is a pain, Thursday is running day! Plus it leaves Friday night so empty.
Because of Stingray?
Oh yes
:D
It is a weird one. We'll have to think of something exciting to do on Friday to keep you entertained :)
Righto.
French Open to save the day?
Ah ha. You're already sorted!
It's just not the same though! I have already decided my free practice food for tomorrow is fish and chips, and having that on a Thursday is just Not Right. It's a Friday food!
Friday fun?
Hehehe. I think you need to write that in a strongly worded letter to Prince Monaco. He'll understand.
I think he's busy planning a wedding or something so I'll leave him alone :)
I had an idea for Friday Fun a while back but it was the same Friday that Mr C did his Windsor one. Now I've forgotten it.
F1 > weddings.
I wish everyone was as wise as you. Stupid bridesmaids duties on Japan qualifying day *grumble*
Qualifying? So you won't miss the race then?
I have no idea, I assume not since the wedding is on Saturday. Then again my parents don't have Sky and their internet may not be up to streaming.
I don't like missing any sessions though.
Oh :(
I recently learned that having a wedding on a sunday is considered unlucky/rude/unconventional/strange or something
I guess it goes back to wedding in churches or something
I'd probably do it just because its cheaper. More money for the Monaco honeymoon that way ;)
Have you found the lucky
VictimGroom yet? ;)I am yet to trap someone.
Perhaps I can honeymoon by myself.
I believe they call that a holiday.
I'm good at those. Sold.
I have just decided i want a holiday...
Havent had one for ages, that involved me staying at a hotel rather than with family
I guess its just a case of where and when and how!
You'll want Amy for that. She's good at planning.
I was going to say that Alison seems to use all her holiday hours coming to visit so maybe it'd be nice to return the favour, but I don't think that would come under a 'staying at a hotel' holiday.
A shocking confession - that new single by Lena is actually pretty good
Hehe, ive used virtually all mine to be with her too!
Aww they remind me so much of the photographers
@Tennisreporters I had some interesting things from Woznaicki I was going to report, but since I'm getting unfairly slammed due to a faulty column by an intern I'm going off Twitter 4 day to report elsewhere. Maybe those who ripped me can ask the intern to come to Paris & report herself
Alison is going to be thrilled that you need a holiday to get over her visit
#nothere
:)
I can see the pouty lip from here.
I like that he says intern like its a bad thing.
Ping: http://heartfranck.wordpress.com/2011/05/25/questions-and-answers-the-end-of-an-era/

Happy birthday James
Not sure about rubens' race helmet this weekend
http://twitpic.com/52diqy
It's very spiky!
Looks like it was drawn by the guy that did Pokemon
And so it begins :D
Oh boys... Mark just pushed BBC presenter Jake Humphrey into the Energy Station pool. And it's only Wednesday.
From @redbullspy I should add
I am expecting mucho celebrations
ifwhen a Red Bull wins on Sunday:D
Won't happen. Monaco will be a McLaren race
don't tell renault that
Hope so, both lewis and jenson are strong around monaco so here's hoping. That or it'll be a Sauber.
Well, Monaco does throw out the odd random winner sometimes.. :)
Red Bull's strength is in high speed aero and there is not much of that in Monaco. If they win this race the season is over
ya know, I was thinking the other day... if it was Webber, Button, or Hamilton dominating the season like Vettel currently is, I'd be like "WOOHOO!!!", but I'm not woohoo, I'm "this is BORING" (at least the drivers championship)
You mean it isn't over already? :D
Thing is, I think the guy on pole will win the race - and I don't see anyone beating RBR over a single lap right now.
Corrected. :D Mind you, I don't think it's THAT boring, but it's surely not as exciting as previous years.
I mayve have overstated the boringness, because the races for places 2 - 24 have been exciting, with the occassional interesting battle for the lead.
Good afternoon
OK, this is getting out of hand, really quickly

Hi everyone :)
Eeeevening :)
I've reached that stage where you're very tired but also hyper.
I am very tired and hyper?
Yes, I know what you mean hehehe.
Probably best not to read my comment on the shuttle earlier ;)
Ping: http://sidepodcast.com/post/monaco-2011-race-information
#confidentialfromAlison
Tired, hyper and blowing a gasket all at the same time is a bad combination
Mr Giggles can't do his daily for tomorrow, if anyone is at a loose end and wants to volunteer. Otherwise I shall get to it later :)
So #confidential I actually can't work out what you're all talking about :)
I haven't written one in ages so unless you are overwhelmed by volunteers I will do it
If i can just finish what I'm writing I might have a go
Ping 1: Dan Gurney – All in a Flap http://www.vivaf1.com/blog/?p=6705
Ping 2: The F1 Quiz – Monaco http://www.vivaf1.com/blog/?p=6652
Uh oh, I have two volunteers now!
fight! fight! fight!
Looks like you have been overwhelmed by volunteer. So I am off the hook
Hehe :)
Bedtime for me, bu before i go, one of the most awesome pictures i have seen this month http://jalopnik.com/5805379/theres-an-owl-on-my-bike
Hi guys... Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to do today's daily. I did mention it to Christine earlier but I'm not sure if she's around.
Sorry everyone - uber busy!
Important to read back. Ooopps sorry Christine :)
Hehe, my bad. I thought of a reply to your email in my head and thus I thought I'd done it.
Been there :)
Hello again, I think this guy is awesome
So this Indy thing, is it FBFBable?
It's 6+ hours!
On an oval
Done more than that before :)
Definitely. It is a great event.
We also have Kimi racing on Saturday night
About going round in almost circles?
It won't take6 hours. It may take 4 if there is a lot of yellows
That I may watch
I calculated 500 laps at qualifying speeds, it was over 5.5
500 miles / 200 laps
hehe
500 miles!
Well, Bert linked to a speed > lap time converter and then I multiplied by 500
Definitely did oval stuff before: http://sidepodcast.com/post/cafes-do-brasil-indy-300-race-highlights
It was fun.
Slightly better
I was thinking it was quite long :D
500 miles and the average speed is over 200 mph
Metric or Imperial miles?
#FunnyMeasurements
With my favourite FBFB moment ever: http://sidepodcast.com/post/cafes-do-brasil-indy-300-race-highlights#data-3092
American miles are the same as ours but their mpg is different
:D
Their 'gas' is a lot cheaper, I'm not sure they even understand the concept
If they just buy the gas at the top of the tank instead of the liquid i think they are being hard done by
hehe!
Apparently a metric mile is 1500 metres and an imperial mile is 1609.3 !!
Not to add to the confusion!
The aviation industry has been Imperial for years and then Airbus came along and started building things in Metric
I still don't understand how the French & British collaborated on building an aircraft together, capable of Supersonic speeds, when they both were using different rulers
In athletics
Petrol is more expensive in the summer because of lost vapour. They should really sell it by the Kg
crazy!
a metric mile should have to be something like a 1000 yards, certainly not a multiple of metres
they use it for cable too
that's like the opposite of a baker's dozen
you get less mile for your mile
Or i should say, some people do, thats where i first heard the term
do they keep laying cable and finding themselves 109.3 m short of reaching where it was supposed to go?
Hopefully not for cable car construction
I think its ususaly measured in metric so its probably just a slang term :)
lot of padding at the beginning, probably.
I thinknit may be the total ads runtime
Who said tobacco advertising was dead?
http://www.gpupdate.net/en/f1-photos/6186/2011-monaco-formula-1-grand-prix/176782/#176782
I wonder who commissioned that assignment?
I would guess they will argue that it is not trackside advertising, Just advertising that is in Monaco. Of course it is hard to say it is not F1 related when it has Ferrari and Alonso in it.
Are the organisers responsible for trackside advertising meeting EU rules, even if it is on the street?
Monaco lives in its own little world
Agreed but I think think it's pushing the limit
I wonder if the ads are still there tomorrow or just not in view of the tv cameras
is it trackside?
Could be down towards Casino Square
no barriers though
True
Didn't realise the truck was quite the blaze
http://www.gpupdate.net/en/f1-photos/6186/2011-monaco-formula-1-grand-prix/176782/#176824
It made a real mess of the tarmac
Darth & Nico look glum

We may see a safety car this weekend after all
What am I saying? It's Monaco, of course we will.
The road surface at Ste Devote
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/91711
If we don't Mr Maylander may as well stay at home at this rate :)
The GP2 boys have been keeping him busy, I'm sure they'll do the same at Monaco
the most disappointing F1 driver this year, I've barely noticed him
he's done so little even Postponed has won a race this year
The BBC tried to kill di Resta
Hulkenberg really wants his seat
points off in the rankings ;-)
Kovalainen would have been straight in there trying to put it out
heheh, I'd be scared they'd topple over
http://lockerz.com/s/104762623
Heheh
I think I under-bid
That's the first I have seen of that. Great idea for a competition
Hello,
Testing out this iphone type pad - odd thing to get used to
