Hi there. Hope you are well. Got some links for you today:
- Sam Michael has joined McLaren. I hope that works out for him
- Joe has a quick catch up of the news last weekend
- Christine has her Driver and Team Rankings.
- Joe has another post on the Lotus-Lotus debacle. When will it end?
- Lee McKenzie is in Venezuela filming karting with Pastor Maldonado. I wonder if he’s teaching them how to drive into people while holding a fat wallet?
- The excellent documentary ‘Graham Hill – Driven’ is on the iPlayer. Go see it if you haven’t already, it’s excellent.
- TEDnews from Monza was awesome this week – primarily for the burn given to Eddie Irvine after a bizarre interview.
- Rubens Barrichello is a bit of a Sim Racer. I’d love to see him in the real STCC!
- VW have made a car which would probably go down well in the Midlands and Yorkshire :)
- Here is an awesome in car camera (FROM 1994) of Mark Blundell at Spa. Awesome. Why don’t we have more of these?
- Ron Howard’s Rush is coming along nicely. Like the actor choices for Hunt and Lauda!
- Incidentally, an F1 film could have been made in 1986 but Bernie blocked it. Boo-ernie!
- Here is a very strange Japanese sport called Mingling. The video is mind blowing though!
- Finally, some real Atomic Kittens! Want!!!
Have a great day and see you in the comments. Try the Facebook ones out at the bottom of the page too ;)
i LOVE that livery!!
every f1 car needs a gopro. it should be in the regulations already. cheers for the daily chappie.
Here is a very strange Japanese sport called Mingling. The video is mind blowing though! That's the strangest thing!
That's very impressive!
that Mark Blundell clip reminds me of a short clip from Robert Kubica's BMW days with a helmet cam, would love them to use this in the official footage, plus then they could get rid of that horrible camera post on top of the cars.

Wednesday night should see a post or two about Silverstone.
Helmet cams are definitely under-used
gopro's are one of the greatest products ever.
I mean, without them, how would we get video like this:

to follow the tradition of winning things over here those going to Singapore may want to try this one:
http://www.singaporegp.sg/contest/favourite-team.php
Singapore is going well for me so far, since Pamela is arriving on Monday then checking out of our hotel on Thursday, then I am arriving on Thursday afternoon with the reservation for the rest of the weekend, we have sorted with the hotel that they will assign the same room to both reservations so she can keep all her luggage in the room. Success!
Morning all,
This might sound like an odd thing to say, but I do not get the love for crystal clear and steady shots from an onboard camera. When I see an onboard now, I'm nearly always disappointed.
This was again drilled into me when I saw Senna a few months back - I couldn't help but think modern F1 footage makes the sport look painfully dull for the most part.
I don't care in the slightest about an ultra steady shot, where even strands of grass can be clearly seen. I want the onboards to reinforce how utterly violent these cars really are and the current footage does nothing to depict how difficult F1 is... which is a great, great shame.
However, I am probably in the minority here.
I think a balance has to be struck. While I do like having helmet cams from time to time (as they provide the most accurate view of what a driver can see), I can't stare at them too long since it moves around a lot and it makes me very dizzy. F1 may be a lovely blur of speed, but it can't always be blurry on TV.
Also true, which is why sparing use would be advised.
How well do you know your Formula 1 history?
The book That'll be the Day: 365 F1 Stories takes a look at significant moments or quirky happenings on this day in Grand Prix history. Can you guess what event the following describes?
I just entered the ticket upgrade contest and will be awaiting the Paddock Club pass news :-)
I'm afraid Pamela and I will be using that ;)
I would be happy for you :-) it may sound strange but I do prefer to watch the race from normal grandstand and the pass in the contest is for Sunday only ... Paddock Club is awesome for Friday or Saturday. Still, in case I win I will not complain :-)
I've never been one of those "ooh I wish I was in the paddock club" people because yes, I like the grandstands! I'm not interested in schmoozing! But it might be nice just to see it once.
Another possible street race..? Ughhhhh...
http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2011/09/14/f1-in-cape-town/
... oh, but this would be Cape Town ! one was the best places I ever visited
I've no interest in the cities that F1 decides to visit, they just represent background noise. I would rather it be at a racing track - a good one !!
The problem is singapore did it and everyone raved about it despite a lack of decent action.
It was probably because all the races were pretty dull at the time. Hopefully this year will illustrate a bigger difference between street tracks and circuits & discourage them in future.
Monaco & Valencia havent been great
The food is very very good :D
+unlimited champagne :)
yeah, that really doesn't sell it to me :D
unlimited ice cream :-)
sold!
What flavours are we talking here, because I don't move for anything less than strawberry and / or chocolate.
;)
I have no idea, last time I went in a haven't made it past the champagne station :-)
:D
yaaaaaaaaaay swiss team <3 http://yfrog.com/nwberwcj
get used to it, it's the future. silverstone upgrading a field in the middle of nowhere is the stupidest idea i ever heard. f1 needs to come to the people.
Sad, really.
...even if it is detrimental to the quality of the product?
i have no desire to ever sit in a freezing cold grandstand on an old disued airfield ever again. give me streets and a hotel window i can hang out of any day.
we did silverstone. christine nearly died. you couldn't pay me enough cash to do that again. there has to be a better experience for fans.
street circuits are quite fun when you're actually AT them :D
valencia may be the worst circuit on the calendar, but it's the only one i'd be interested in going to. beach, sun and f1. w00t.
Is it as detrimental as zero ticket sales?
I don't get the point? Who has zero ticket sales?
Not right now. Lots of empty grandstands at specialised circuits though. Less empty grandstands in cities.
Do Monza instead. It's a short hop from the centre of Milan and nice places to stay are plentifu
:)
exactly, as long as they keep racing in mind when they design the tracks
Specialised circuits tend to be bigger capacity.
What a shame they don't.
yes, and the beach is right behind the grandstand, you can go for swim between FP1 and FP2 :-)
Fair enough. Just an observation.
Based on my plans for this weekend I think beach + sport is a pretty fantastic match up.
oh yes, Monza is something else :-) that simply can't be compared to anything else
Also, some of the street circuits have seen numbers fall slightly in recent years. The solution..? Less grandstands.
Even Monaco has far, far fewer stands than they did ten years ago.
OK, but Monaco is super super expensive and that may be the major factor ...
I went into my Eurotrip expecting to like Spa more but Monza knocked it out of the park.
Good point, but Monaco has always been super expensive. Melbourne's capacity has shrunk over the years too, so they removed stands. It's easy to make a place look fuller if you physically remove the empty spaces.
I know what you mean, I sat through that there 2 years ago, top row of the grandstand definitely not a good idea
I am wondering what the chances of getting a room on the track side of the hotel is. I assume slim. But it would be nice, I'd spend my Thursday evening spying on people doing their track walk :D
Depends on the circuit.
the point is why are those white elephants like Shanghai being built ... I am not going to produce and keep in stock million pieces of something if I know I can sell max 100K a year. why nobody is doing any research when building these tilkedromes ... megalomaniac designs + graft + the fees = high prices for tickets that few can afford = empty grandstands = wasted money for building them ...
I mean Singapore.
chances are high in Monaco, if you are ready to pay ... :-)
Oh right
Money doesn't talk, it screams.
not too many hotels offer that view, I think there is one only actually, somewhere near the end of the Padang straight, I think it is the cheaper of the Raffles ones, the tall one opposite the old one
but look at all these rooms, surely one of them could be mine :D
that is the one :-) I stayed there once (not during F1), nice hotel, nothing wrong with it. but if you watch F1 from there you may be better off watching it on TV :-) it is a bit too far a and bit too high, cars too small :-)
I am pleased I booked in October last year because if I was to book it today the price per night is the same as the total price I paid for 4 nights :D
I have the same dilema with the Melbourne hotel, I may be forced now to book 5 nights but the price per night is rather OK compared to what I paid before when I booked in December and for 3 nights only ... but few more people involved including the family so finalizing the possible Aussie trip itinerary that may have to include Sydney too is a bit complicated and may take a while
Woh - Superleague just got a suckerpunch
ahh yes, adding more people and more cities always makes things a bit tricky.
"Superleague cancels all South American rounds"
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/94540
anybody actually cares about this series ?
Only the 60-odd people that paid into the Silverstone round last year.
I didn't even know it was still going this year.
so it is even worse than the self-proclaimed World Cup Of Motorsport used to be
Superleague and its politics this year has been the equivalent of watching a drunk fall over himself repeatedly
Yes.
and that is what would happen to any breakaway from F1 if it ever comes to that ...
An F1 breakaway would probably end up like IndyCar basically. Organisers have been trying to throw together a cheaper "rival to F1" since the 70's and they've all fallen flat after a few years.
... and as not even the Gulf sheik with all the oil money made it work it is clear sign it is time to give up trying :-)
Hulk says he will not drive in FP1 in Singapore, so Sutil and di Resta can get more track time
There will doubtless be others driven by ego and cluelessness.
Apparently di Resta will not lose any more FP1s this year. Also Robert Wickens is to do straight line testing for Virgin - how about putting him in on a Friday morning instead..?
... especially when there is not much the team would lose by doing so ...
Exactly and being honest, as decent as d'Ambrosio is, Robert is a far brighter prospect.
Just to let you know if anyone is interested, extreme sailing is on today from 1pm UK time.
I think mr c would like it as it only has 9 races a year, the venues have beaches and tend to be in urban areas.
Todays races will be open water, but from tomorrow they will be tight 'stadium racing'
Its streamed for free online at http://www.extremesailingseries.com
Its quite like F1: high tech equipment, close racing and big sponsors
Just checked to be sure and their 2011 season still has rounds "tbc"
Uh-huh.
I forgot about the quite spectacular crashes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6sTPgnJ-Do (all of those on the same day!)

:)
I think the appropriate word is "zing !! "
So cancel all races and run street demos instead. You may as well if you have a calendar full of street circuits - they hardly ever produce any good racing.
I'm sorry to hear that, but from my experience there are much better circuits than Silverstone that offer a much better experience.
At a street circuit I'd imagine you can't see very much and it would be more expensive because of the hotel fees being hiked up, etc?
"Formula 1 was denied a similar certificate on the grounds that it is entertainment, not sport."
well at least someone agrees ;)
look at football. how many successful clubs have a ground in the middle of nowhere?
Feels like too many.
really? i can't think of any.
Yeah, because when they had their grounds in the centre of town you'd have to park miles away ;)
Stoke... Wigan... Bolton.
ah... define successful :)
in terms of top clubs, with the most fans, they're all based in cities, aren't they?
They've all reached the final of a domestic cup inside the last 8 years...
Technically...
for reference, red bull recently brought a cliff to the center of boston, because they realised the audience won't travel to an actual real life cliff.
http://www.redbull.com/cs/Satellite/en_INT/Event/Red-Bull-Cliff-Diving--USA-021242949824658
Is Manchester a place or nowhere?
an f1 race around the streets of manchester would be very, very cool.
To be honest, I don't know what Manchester looks like.
to everyone who got soaked in spa last year - wouldn't it have been better if you could have hid in a shopping center and had a cup of tea to stay warm and dry?
I was at the Nurburgring in 2000 when it rained really heavily for the whole race day, but it was still great fun. I was there with friends and family and we made the best of it.
How many football stadiums have roofs? Do fans stay away if it rains during a match?
oooh this is my grandstand!
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150285447847191&set=a.107477302190.107246.102227592190&type=1&ref=nf
only been to two, but they were both covered. silverstone was covered though, i was just too windy. sooooo cold.
Football stadiums can be much worse when cold I think.
Only 2 of my 9 races have been cold, perhaps Silverstone is just a victim of British weather :D
Nope. Honestly not, because I knew I was going back to a nice warm cabin. It's part of the experience of Spa and I wouldn't change that.
it's built on acres of flat land. in london i could've hid in the warm. nowhere to hide in a field.
fair enough. i don't get the appeal to be honest, and falling crowd numbers for the same race seems to suggest i'm not alone. if fans really wanted to spend that much time in a field, spa wouldn't be alternating with france from next year.
i predict the same for silverstone within 10 years.
I'd argue that has more to do with race prices than where they are. As referred to earlier, street circuit numbers are also falling.
If it didn't cost €250 for a GA ticket I would go more than once every 15 years.
i guess we'll have to wait and see where f1 goes. my bet is more street tracks and circuits near a large body of people, rather than fields of sheep.
For me, it's just the price. I guess the sort of person that can regularly go to the races are more likely to go to one in a city.
Because you can't. You're restricted to what the design of the streets are. Which is why what Korea is trying to do is build the circuit first, then build a city IN the circuit.
True. Even Singapore has reduced its grandstands. The grandstand I sat in 2008 was never rebuilt again.
Wait, hang on. Amy, you're staying at the Pan Pacific?? Crazy. :O
#planningmaster
And yes, I stayed there last year (non-F1 weekend too). Amazing room and lovely facilities. Food was rather disappointing, though.
Not enough money to make it happen?
No idea to be honest. Wickens has never really been associated with big money, but he does have Manor support.
F1 isn't quite wrestling, is it? ;)
But methinks they just feel they're not getting a big enough share of the pie. You'd think Vijay Mallya and Vicky Chandhok would go sort this out.
2011 is my year of staying where the teams stay. Going halves with Pamela makes things affordable :) and I just found $1.15 in my drawer from 2008. If I keep that up my trip pays for itself. I also found all the charger bits for my Fanision. I've missed it! I am a little mad at it though :(
I'd agree here. It's part of the fun of going to a GP - it's always an adventure. :)
Ping --> http://theformulaoneandmotorsportsarchive.wordpress.com/2011/09/14/superleague-formula-cancels-it-brazilian-rounds/
Can't he tap into the Villeneuve fund? He's Canadian, after all. But I'm thinking he'd need to pay some to get track time on Fridays.
Just as well then that your Korea trip is for free. :D
He tends to keep himself shy of Villeneuve. Wanting to be the first Canadian F1 star without the name "Villeneuve" is understandable to a degree
mad at fanvision?
I still have no idea of my itinerary or what parts I do have to pay for. I hope they tell me soon! I assume so because I've been communicating with someone in Brisbane but my most recent email came from head office. Very much looking forward to spazzing out about it with Jeremy in person tomorrow :)
Awwww Jeremy ♥
True, but it's no use trying to be the first non-Villeneuve F1 Canadian if he can't even get in in the first place.
This puzzled me a lot. Virgin went through all this hoo-haa about signing this Canadian on the Wednesday before the Montreal GP --- and then didn't even put into FP1...
On the other hand, if d'Ambrosio didn't return in 2012, I would expect Wickens there - I think he's good enough at least.
I feel a bit like they haven't delivered a few things they said they would - the online portal with software updates etc. When they told me in Malaysia that full screen video would be in the next update I assumed that it might be here by the time I ot to Singapore but nope, there is no online anything, they still have to email out an activation code to everyone who has bought one each race. I take this to mean there is 0.00% chance of it ever working at home via wifi.
Next year the rental cost per race is €55 and the activation for owners is £30. I reckon more than half the rental price is too much when you shell out so much up front anyway. The marketing all said a small fee for 2012 but €30 per race adds up if you do more than one.
ouchy!!
you should blog that. had no idea.
I haven't seen anything to suggest that d'Ambrosio should return in 2012. In fact, I haven't seen anything of d'Ambrosio at all.
Who's Ambrosio? ;)
Exactly. :D
I'll cope because I'm only doing 2 races but if I was doing 4 again I'd be screaming from the rooftops to all and sundry. And I want to use the included USB cable dammit! Give me an update! It's been 6 months!
i wish to yell at them for adding a (tm) to f1: http://www.fanvision.com/f1
there's no f1 trademark anywhere on this earth.
between the tm and the stupid price maybe they're not a Canadian company at all, maybe they are secretly Bernies.
d'Ambrosio's comments about Phillippe Adams a few weeks back may come back to haunt him.
nah, bernie wouldn't know what NFL is.
I missed that. Does he speak???
"Which team uses that?"
When talking to Natalie on Friday in Spa, he said (paraphrasing):
"Adams was the last Belgian driver, but no one remembers him, because he wasn't very good."
oh.
It is unlikely d'Ambrosio will spring to mind when talking of great Belgian GP drivers
That's awful!?
It was only €55 to rent for the weekend at Spa. Seems very expensive now.
So MotoGP secure an Argentine round. One wonders if this will have any ripples in other motorsport's..?
I think it's shocking the price you pay for supporting them and buying their product....
The benefit of buying is supposed to be price where if you rent you might expect to get the newest most up to date equipment. If it's going to take you so long to recoup the cost, I don't see why anyone would buy. I guess the costs weren't advertised before?
Apparently, they're also trying to bring F1 back to Argentina. They've approached Tavo Hellmund (of Austin fame) to try and make it happen.
Let's see if he can make one race happen first ;)
Indeed so. ;)
Watching a replay of Singapore 2008 now. Alonso just made his first stop.
JA: "If you try something different, you never know."
No kidding. :P
Enjoy a little something from the Sidepodcast back catalogue.

I like the casting of the Hunt/Lauda film, I just wish it was someone other than Ron Howard directing. He can do great work but he also gave us Angels & Demons [nuff said]
I fear we'll see an over-dramatised story with less 'edge' than it deserves. Time will tell
new stuff from facebook. me likey: https://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=10150280039742131
How has it taken this long to come up with a subscribe button?
From the beginning to the emergence of G+ as a threat
I am not so much worried about the director as the concept. I don't see how it can look real enough
I'm not even going there!
G+ is either the best or worst thing to have happened to facebook
Afternoon all.
Today was my first complete day at school. :(
I want summer back!
Hi Marti. I'd settle for just having a summer at all ;)
Just think of it being one day closer to your next holiday.
Yes, that's the philosophy. :)
Doing the 'Winners and losers' of the Italian GP in my blog.
Suggestions?
The stewards lost [some respect]
Stewards lose
http://twitter.com/#!/DerekDaly500/status/113682785507606528
F1M: http://www.f1minute.com/news/f1-steward-derek-daly-regrest-lack-schumacher-penalty
Ha ha, great minds...
Slight typo in the headline Christine. regrest
I think Schumi acted well. In fact, I was delighted with his driving style.
That's F1. If you want to pass someone, you can't expect him to slow down!
Hehe :) Schumi's back!
It's good to see aggressive driving when no one gets hurt, whether Schuey was beyond the line or not is another matter. A steward shouldn't wait for an action to be reported if he thinks it needs investigation. Regretting it afterwards is either pandering to the media or hindsight
He was moving around in the braking zones and making more than one move. Ross Brawn was on the radio to him to tell him to sort his act out. What he did was outrageous. It is only because of him we have a one move rule. Before him it wasn't needed.
No-one expects him to slow down. Just pick a line and stick to it.
We now have a steward after the race saying he should be penalised. After the last race we had video showing he should have had two penalties in th first lap and a half
they did? i think this is fabulous for stewarding. mcnish was scared witless to even discuss what happened to f1 stewards, at least daly has the balls to speak up.
Shame it never happened during the race
He says he didn't see it until afterwards.
how could it, if he never saw it?
Fixed ping: http://www.f1minute.com/news/f1-steward-derek-daly-regrets-lack-schumacher-penalty
Some steward he is then
Looking at a different incident, at Charlie's request.
ooookay.
McNish is still racing. I don't think drivers who are still racing should be stewards
Daly is right to say what he said but it is outrageous no-one involved in the stewarding process noticed it at the time. Ross Brawn was telling Schumacher to sort his act out because apparently CHarlie told him. What were the stewards doing when that was going on? Enjoying their FIA hospitality?
Having listened to F1M, maybe Daly was busy elsewhere but there were obviously a few others with eyes. Anyway, I'm sure this has been done to death
Much better :D
you want ex-f1 drivers, who no longer race to be the 4th steward? are there any? moss maybe, who else?
Is Alesi only in the private sector now?
:)
I want drivers who are not racing at a high level. Occasional racers like Mansell and co are fine but serious racers have a conflict of interest. Besides I thought the point was to have people who had been top F1 drivers and McNish's F1 record is nowhere good enough to qualify. Neither is Tom Kristensen's
who said "top"?
Imagine Alesi as a steward. Very scary
Apart from his career long inability to make a decision he works for one team and couldn't contemplate penalising Ferrari. He is really just a fan who could drive
That was my understanding and expectation of the original idea.
Derek Daly's record is not good enough either
i only ever heard "former driver" mentioned.
Then Steven should be a Steward
My eyes work and I would want to watch the live feed to see what was happening rather than being distracted by Charlie sending odd jobs in.
The one thing we don't know is which offence Daly thinks is worth penalising
That would be epic
STEVEN STEVEN STEVEN STEVEN
Here it is: http://martif1.com/2011/09/14/vencedores-y-vencidos-del-gp-de-italia-button-destaca-de-nuevo/
is there anyone on facebook who can subscribe to christine? we just want to see what it does?
https://www.facebook.com/christine.blachford
Still hyper?
I am not even sure I want that to happen
Where is the subscribe button. I can see subscribers on the left hand menu
How can you tell?
Actually no, you win. That level of joy in fact can't last for months.....
I guess FB has done this to try to be like twitter...
And I can see unsubscribe at the bottom of the left bar under FBFB, F1 minute etc but no subscribe
is there not a button top right?
YES!!!!!!!!!!!
Yup :)
YAY! thanks you.
*hugs*
Nope
Since I can see unsubscribe that would suggest I am already subscribed
Maybe because I'm not Christine's friend? #sorrychristine
it's rolling out. some people have it, others maybe not yet.
I guess it's functionality that allows you to control what appears on your homepage independently of who your friends are.
great explanation here: https://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=10150280039742131
i likes the sound of it.
I can't see the button :S
I think it's because Steven and Christine are friends, you're automatically subscribed to your friends and information from them pops up on your home.
I picked friends of Christine who I don't know then friends of their for about 5 generations and never get a subscribe button
Oooh looks good!
Victimisation
You know what is victimisation....
This
hehe
I've just "subscribed" ... but I had to de-friend you first! ;-)
Ah the article says you have to opt in to allow it #facebookfirst
ha!
ooh, interesting. cheers.
That is simply understanding you and being happy that I do
I guess a "friend" gets all posts.. "subscribed" only gets public ones...
.. like G+ .. ;-/
I think anyone who knows Nick would know he couldn't avoid making me angry for that whole time :D
:D
a bit odd, but it's the same here. steven, don't be christine's friend and see if you're victimised still?
I haven't oped in, just looked, I have it
*opted in
I mean on your page! You have to opt in to allow people to subscribe to you. You can only subscribe to those who have consented which is why random people's profiles don't have the option.
Makes sense
That worked.
Sorry I can't be friends any more
:) :)
Hehe if you're friends, you get the same updates as being subscribed as far as I can see. Previously being friends was an automatic subscription so to speak. I think you can now have the option to silence those annoying friends that just leave lame messages about their cute babies....
now you're subscribed. can you be friends again, or is that madness?
Who knows. I guess Christine has to post something that should only go to friends and not subscribers so we can see what happens
if you hover over the subscribe button when you have subbed.. you get options!
I tried. Maybe Christine doesn't want to be my friend.
No the whole panel of buttons has now vanished.
I do see the friends only update though which wasn't there before.
so, once you become a friend, subscriptions vanish?
okay, this makes sense now. cheers,
That is interesting. The subscriber is in control
Yup, all gone, my name is gone from the subscribers list too.
i wonder if people would be annoyed if christine unfriended everyone and started again with subscriptions instead. it seems to be a better system.
Does Christine get to choose? ;)
I don't think anyone, save perhaps family members would be all that offended tbh.
Some people would. Maybe worth posting something saying she is trying subscriptions to see how they work so not really unfriending them
They need to opt in to be subscribed
no, i mean. to clean up her timeline which is currently full of people with the babies and pictures of cats.
Hehehe yes everyone has that problem!
but maybe not any longer...
I personally would take zero offence. I can't see why anyone would particularly. I guess you need to warn people or they won't know they need to subscribe.
I guess the big difference is friending is a 2 way thing where subscribing is one way
For someone like Christine, where most of her "friends" are probably people she doesn't even know....
I'm not sure I like the idea of lifting all the privacy setting and letting people randomly subscribe to you though. Do you have the option to block people you specifically dont want to subscribe?
seems to be on/off.

Hard work to do...
Hehe go Mr C getting mentioned on The Flying Lap :-)
What did Peter say about him?
He was talking about stewards being muzzled after Derek Daly's talk
how can he read my tweets after he blocked me?
It's just ending now so the mention is probably in the final 5 mins
Were you blocked by Mr. Peter?
That's a archivement! :P
Well, time to leave.
Good night SPWorld ;)
i know! i was very chuffed.
Does that mean I have to watch Windsor later. I had no idea anyone still watched him
I don't normally watch but after having a mini meltdown last night about the stewards I thought it might be fun
no chance.
although i guess we should be grateful to PW for making us realise how awesome we are. if people still watch his dreadful presenting, i reckon they'll pay for the sanctuary of sidepodcast :)
you had a meltdown about f1 stewards?
and then he spoils it by mentioning you on the flying lap - that's just mean
i clearly need to annoy him some more.
maybe i should ask if the flying lap is funded by argentinian state money?
Good idea
This has got to be very handy, macros for the web If this, do that

Ask him if Tavo Hellmund has contacted him to use his close relationships with the government of Argentina
hehe!!
ask him if it is anyway helping to compensate the poor people who gave up their existing jobs to work for his joke of a team
"If weather site says rain tomorrow, text/email me"
Genius
I wonder if we can set up an F1 IFTT
If Schu gets lairy, email Charlie Whiting
You could make F1 macros from that
"If Felipe faster than Fernando, remind fans of disastrous session"
Not genius in Scotland. Who needs the same text everyday
#sameperson
If not raining tomorrow, signal national Bank Holiday
:)
We could have done with this in the past. If Legard talking > Mute
Ask for weather station to be serviced
If race is about to start with rain, start with safety car no matter what
#F1TT
If the DRS is just about to be activated start 3 minutes of replays of the start where nothing happened
Did anyone see the RT from Scarbs about the rumour of McLaren's 2012 development of Sidepods in the syle of fighter aircraft style intakes, either side of the cockpit [Harrier style, I think]
The question was if would be legal but I never saw a response from him. Maybe he's pondering
If [drivername="HAM"] then [penalise]
Didn't see it. Why would they make that info public. This years sidepods stayed secret till the launch
No reason to believe it's true
Vertical take off and landing seems extreme but if it stops lewis tangling with other cars...
When I started reading I had vision's of F14 Tomcat intakes
Q: RT @raymondu999: @ScarbsF1 heard rumors Mp4-27 will use sidepod intakes close to cockpit like fighter jet, and use "wings" to cover crash structure. Legal?
A: @raymondu999 I can't see a source quoted for this idea, but its possible and legal
I have that app on my phone that downloads someone's Facebook pic for the contact listing in my phone. That means when most of my friends call, I see a picture of their kids!
Who the heck would want to subscribe to me though? I thought the idea of Facebook was that you only let people you wanted to see stuff see stuff? How do I opt out of this?
Interesting Horizon on now about Nuclear Power. BBC2
Didn't realise electricity had been rationed in Japan since the earthquake
By not opting in, apparently
Oh, so FB hasn't automatically decided this is what I want? That makes a nice change ;)
I have given up trying to understand new things on facebook because it confuses me far far far too much these days when it introduces something new :)
Revolutionary
Maybe you need to subscribe to the changes blog :)
i think the new facebook is the best by far. need to see automatic lists in action, but both g+ and facebook are innovating where twitter isn't.
Same. I'm completely ignoring them and will just continue to use it now and then for the odd update.
I definitely like the idea of knocking "Jamie has earned 4 squid playing pirate party" off any/all of my lists.
Just block the app. I did that ages ago and I don't get any app updates, ever.
Barrowman wants a female doctor
http://uk.tv.yahoo.com/news-extra/article/184918/next-doctor-who-should-be-a-woman.html
Or just stop using FB :)
How far through was the Mr.C mention on the flying lap?
What did he say?
Last 5 minutes
BARROWMAN!! *shakes fist*
It's further back than that.
:D
Dammit. He hasn't got the latest one on his website yet...
:D
Someone said that at the time
If only the comments on the article were so polite! It's worse than youtube. Why do people behave like that?
I was watching Only Connect and a man has just whipped out a Ukulele. I'm so confused.
Ever since the Reading Festival was on BBC3 I can't seem to stop humming various Pulp fans. I wish Jarvis Cocker told me before he had written some good songs.
Songs, of course. The fans are safe from my humming.
You can't whip musical instruments. It just isn't right
I'm not joking. He was singing some song about dolphins!?
#rankings points to Karun for soliciting feedback?
@sidepodcast did you like it ? a couple bits missing from my original version because of space constraints in newspapers
How odd
An iPad app for musicians. Brilliant idea
The app doesn't just display sheet music, but it listens to users as they play, and automatically turns pages as the song advances.

ooh yay.
Here's a little bit more on the Facebook subscribe thingy:http://lifehacker.com/5840273/facebook-adds-new-subscribe-feature-so-you-can-follow-complete-strangers-in-your-feed

NASA has a plan (at last) for the vehicle that will eventually take people to Mars

Notepads etc
This was the original problem. I'm a bit obsessed. I can't help myself. The JOY is back!
NICK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awww that isn't going to work. I like Nick!
Sometimes you do
Sooooo highlighters?!
The man on Only Connect just pulled out his ukele and started singing about dolphins.
Who ever heard of such a thing?
I might never watch again.
I couldn't not watch. I don't think it will happen again
I can't believe Victoria Coren wasn't more disparaging!
She asked him to play it
Interestingly I received an email from Fanvision trying to get me to use their device at upcoming races, and the promo photo they used... is the Indy 500.
But there's no mention of the race in the email or on the site which is all about F1
Do they know it is Indy?
Probably not.
I was thinking it might be a subtle hint but actually they might just be being silly
