Well, that was a pretty boring weekend.
- Who am I kidding? It was fantastic, and I'm sure we can all agree that the highlight of the weekend was the speedway at Cardiff. A shock winner too. Best moment is when Tai Woffinden (who I'm thinking I'm more obsessed with than Timo Glock) won heat 20. But ulitimatly, like most sports, Britain were rubbish.
- Formula 1 you say? Oh we had that as well at Silverstone. The racing slightly overshadowed once again by Red Bull, those drama queens. The race itself though was fairly average and you just know that Lukeh, Leigh and Alianora have got the race all covered. You want more? Well, I have just the trick with my (Virgin Racing endorsed) New Teams Championship. More? Well there is also the post-race debate about if the new Silverstone upgrades have worked. You want even more? Well, there is talk about the use of radio on F1 coverage. All sorted? Good.
- Now, I am aware that this was plugged in yesterdays daily but I think they deserve a re-daily. Lou has posted her shots from Goodwood and they are simply amazing. She has also put up some of her favourites too. Well worth a read.
- The legend that was Rubens Barrichello was on Top Gear yesterday. I'm yet to see the show but I am reliably informed of his performance was good. The biggest Rubens fan around Lukeh has blogged about it. Be warned it does contain spoilers.
- And now, the football is now all over. The champions have won and van Bommel managed to stay on the pitch yet again. I hope that wasn't your first football game either because it was a shocker. But there is Premier League football in a month with good teams playing good football. Or you could wait till Poland/Ukraine Euro 2010 or Brazil World Cup 2014.
So here comes another week. You sport fans will no doubt know the Tour de Frace is still going on and of course towards the end of the week is the Open Championship. If you don't like sport, well, there is always the excellent Alex Andronov as he guides us all through the T songs on his radio show. Lovely.
Have one of those awesome Mondays.
you heard it here second (cause i just read it in gp+ first)... princess pettel.
that's a keeper :)
Love it
from mr. tremayne.
Grrrrrr
"Best moment is when Tai Woffinden (who I'm thinking I'm more obsessed with than Timo Glock) won heat 20"
20 heats?
23 technically if you include the semi final and final.
how do you keep track of all that?
Have you never seen speedway before? Less overtaking than F1
i don't think i have. i know of it, riding sideways in circles, right?
Pretty easy really, its only 16 riders racing 5 times so its easy to keep track.
Depends what type of track it is, some are terrible and provide dull races, others like Cardiff are perfect and you get brilliant battles.
That's it. Run on gravelly tracks or ice
ooh, never seen it on ice.
Boo Monday. Boo.
I saw it years ago. I assume they still do it
I've never seen it but I think one of the best speedway riders originally rode on ice.
I am tired and my watch has stopped but I keep looking at it anyway. It is not 5 to 2
They do it indoors in Telford
http://www.telfordice.co.uk/
Rubinho!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Watching Top Gear and had to do that
:)
Hehe. It was pretty good.
Before I saw the time I thought the last two corners looked like Lewis's.
I won't mention the time for those who haven't seen it yet
Clarkson making iphone jokes ;)
I must have missed that.
Talking about how the Stig doesn't work if you hold him the wong way
Ah yes. :D
Finished (albeit, rather late - damn World Cup final!!)
2010 British Grand Prix (Silverstone, Round 10, July 9th – 11th)
http://theformulaoneandmotorsportsarchive.wordpress.com/2010/07/11/2010-british-grand-prix-silverstone-round-10-july-9th-11th/
probably a daft question, but is there a reason why you don't publish across multiple posts? only i keep following the link, seeing the same picture and header text thinking "i've read this already".
Don't know why, but I've just never done it. I'll try it for Germany and see if I like it
maybe have a summary post at the end to tie them all together. it's easier to plug individual posts on twitter and facebook etc too.
yeah sounds good...
summary? summary???? i don't know the meaning of the word sir
:)
and on that note, i sleeps.
me too
early morning and all that lark
night all
#delurk
I'm doing this for Goodwood. Or at least I would if I got around to it.
I have yet to download TG, but...
Rubens beat Schumi?! Again?!
:P :D
My watch has started again. Confused.
Jetlag plus early morning working = best thing EVER!!!
When else can you wake up naturally at 10 to 5 and think it's time to get up... :D
Also doohickey's gone a bit mad in chrome.... There are scroll bars in the middle of the screen horizontally and vertically instead of next to the edge of the browser window. Refreshing hasn't made it go away.
That's weird... Not having that problem at all in Chrome.
I have had that issue in the past, its a chrome issue not a doohickey one
Morning all. Just a quick note to say: iPhone is AWESOME. I am a convert. iTunes on the other hand..... that can swivel! Speak laters.
Hello and Good Monday.
Morning christine, and morning everyone else.
How are we all this morning?
I found out a fun fact this morning - Diego Forlan has scored more goals than David Villa in 5 of the last 6 season in Spain, but people consider Villa to be the best striker in the world.
Is anyone else having problems with GP+ ive downloaded 3 times, it seems to be corrupted. tried it though google docs too and still lots of blank pages and pixelated photos
Intriguing... Lotus may be getting Renault engines from 2011 - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8808856.stm
That'd be a boost for them to say the least.
I downloaded it OK, but within the text there is quite a lot of bad and hard to read formatting, sometimes I think those guys could take half an hour more to proof read before they upload it ...
also I am a bit disappointed with the latest issue, I did expect more on the Webber and especially on the Senna situation there ... Joe was the first one to break the Senna story but there are barely 2 lines of text on that topic in the magazine :-(
I thought lotus and cosworth were in partnership for road cars??
Didnt the lotus indy car originally have cosworth logos on it because of that?
Found it:

hello folks
No it's just fine here
mine's fine
My last football post for the forseeable future: http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/07/12/when-they-say-beautiful-game-they-mean-forlan-right/
make sense, Williams are sticking with Cosworth and Renault want to provide another team with engines.
Good morning
morning pat
Morning.
I may have a guest post for you tonight Christine
Oh yes? That'd be lovely.
Aye - I shall be regaling all with my Friday tales
interesting point. i wonder if having a friday meetup meant there was much less time to write?
or too much time spent meeting old friends and not enough time left to investigate in the paddock :-)
could be. he know the senna story though, he told us about it. it just needed typing out.

Was that a lego piece? Or a pound? I'll never know.
Must admit, that took me a few seconds to grasp
:)
Haha :)
That was the hamster. Poor Biggles!
That dratted lego gets everywhere.
I'm busy being productive, getting through loads of odd jobs I've had to leave while doing other stuff for the end-of-month..
Speaking of hamsters, anyone see Rubens on the Beeb last night?
Also the cooler temps mean I feel like doing more, than when it was hot and humid (haircut also helps, I've noticed)
Saturday was +30 so I went for a haircut - my hairdresser is lovely, but she informed me I hadn't been for two months (we've been really busy)!
Made a big difference in the heat though ;)
I usually leave it 3 months..
My hair grows too thick for that and the heat was killing me. Plus, my hairdresser is really nice ;)
Aye - my hairdresser is sound, but I get mine done every 6 weeks/two months. If my hair gets too long I end up looking like Kevin Keegan
shocking stuff
I was definitely cultivating a mullet, inadvertently...
I said to my Hungarian friend on Facebook the other day that "Friends don't let friends get mullets" and she had no idea what I was talking about...
:D
Hi, all.
helllloooo
Oooooh.
Fernandes to acquire Team Lotus name
Iiiiinteresting.
hey leigh. what's up?
Enjoying the office monotony - I'll be headbutting my desk very soon
You?
Does that mean since they are now properly linked with old Lotus they'll have another 500th Grand Prix?
Unlikely
;)
There are many "purists" out there (and I've met some) that state without question that Lotis died with the death of Colin Chapman.
Personally I love what Fernandes and Gascoyne have done so far - great stuff
Therefore there's no such team as Ferrari, McLaren and now with Sir Frank stepping down, Williams too?
Agreed. They've come a heck of a long way in a year, considering so many were doubting them when they first arrived.
Best new team. By far.
Ties up a loose end then..
Agreed. Year 2 will be just as or even more challenging, though. Can they keep up this momentum?
Not sure if this has been mentioned hear but apparently 18million saw BBC's world cup coverage compared to ITV's 4million
ouch.
Well it looks like they have the back, and the resources.
Says it all really. However, both weren't great really.
I think they are the best new team by far, really impressive and I'm a bit of a fan of their approach this year, unlike the others they've hired past F1 people (I don't mean drivers), they had their car running first, they have it closer to the main field than the others. But they aren't Lotus.
Don't know why they bother.
I wonder how many watched TG on BBC2, for reference.
Adrian Chiles has been shown up really badly by the World Cup.
Also:
- Why all the Holland-hate before the final? And for that matter, Spain too?
- Wayyy too much English coverage
- Really rubbish punditry in general!
oooh oohh ooh *raises arm really high* mee mee me!
Guess that goes to show how badly the bbc are crushing the competition.
Hahahahahaha! :D For a British GP, we sure saw a LOT of Rubens. :)
*BGP weekend
Wow
The man loves silverstone and the british grand prix :)
Also, aren't F1 viewing figures in the UK up by 50% since the move to BBC too?
he wanted it before and they wouldn't sell. v.interesting.
proven themselves worthy?
very possibly.
Would clive chapman be involved in the link between new lotus and classic team lotus if they got the name? He seemed quite impressed with the team during the goodwood interview they did with crofty, sir stirling moss and heikki
i don't see how it's a fair competition. one corporation has billions and does nothing to earn it's income. the other has to run commercials.
i know itv suck at everything, but they can only be fairly compared to anyone 'except' he bbc.
I don't think the issues I had with ITV were down to resources though.
what were the issues? surely problems with talent comes from a lack of funds to be able to afford them, and who's prices are driven up by the bbc paying talent a fortune across the board.
Well ITV paid big money for Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley, didn't they?
I think I preferred the ITV coverage, but obviously iPlayer is easier to use.
presumably they were paid shed loads by the beeb already.
5live did a weird thing by switching commentators mid-way through the game. no explanation.
Yeah I noticed that too.
5Live always do that and they have done that on every football match for years. I don't know why they do that apart from presuming to give them a rest.
Just as an outside observer here (and not knowing about financial situations or anything), I would say that although the UK coverage was far better technically than the Danish coverage, there seemed to be little research into the punditry, a lot of predjudice and bias for no reason, and other things I didn't like which I'd rather not go into...
they always do that - even for the Premiership
The radio people always need to do a lot more talking than the TV people. The Wimbledon radio coverage was insane... I couldn't believe how fast he was talking... it was Christinesque
more than croftie though?
i'd say so, yeah...
And Croftie does the whole race, right? With a few short breaks, that's almost as long as a footy match...
more than brazil '09 qualifying? :)
yeah
So why switch commentators after 20 minutes? That's a cushy gig!
It wasn't so much the switch that bothered me, but that I don't remember them saying anything about it.
It's like when the kids go upstairs to wash their hands in Coronation Street and come back down a completely different person.
Sadly, I was at my niece's christening and missed all of it
:(
Must have been a loooong christening then ;)
I'm Irish - it went on for long after it finished
;)
Awesome :D

Isn't that lolspeak?
:)
These days I don't know whether to be happy Franck is not in the car with Bourdais or worried that there's a Bordy car loose on track at the same time as him.
rues missed chance for a roflcopter :(
:D
It was built in the late 90s to host F1 races but they forgot to make it suitable, so it only got FIA Grade 1 or 2 status (can't remember, but whichever is the one below F1). Then Shanghai happened. It sort of opened the door though.
I haven't seen a race but I've heard it also sucks..
Is that really a surprise with an awful lot of the modern circuits
Ping: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/07/12/when-will-be-vitalys-time-to-shine/
I feel like I've been in the office for an eternity...
You realise it is now the year 2065, right..?
well, Zhuhai is the unofficial racing center for all the petrolheads from Hong Kong. it may not be good for F1 but it is the nearest permanent race track (1 hour by ferry) and unlike Shanghai it is permanently used. I know quite a lot of people who spend lots of time racing there.
ah-ha. do you fancy watching some superleague? ;)
no, it may be near but for me the problem it is across the border I hate crossing :-)
We're talking Peugeot here.
Don't be wishing Superleague onto people!! :)
:)
Nearly office-escape time, I'll need some non-screen time, back later...
oops!
i'm telling ya, it's an involuntary reaction: http://twitpic.com/1vtm4m
Wow, I didn't know you were speedway fans too! We were there at Cardiff and it was awesome. Great to see a new face and amazing for Chris to win his first British GP - and the friendship between Crump and Holder was v. touching. It meant we missed the F1 quali and had to watch the race as highlights - but so worth it for the atmosphere & racing at the Millennium stadium. Roll on 2011. You should come, it's so cheap compared with F1 and the crowd have to be heard to be believed!
I am thinking its just me really. ;) But yeah, I went last year and not too sure really why I didn't go this year. Atmosphere is unbelievable at Cardiff and this years race looked to be brilliant to go to. Shame the Brits didn't perform!
I meant to tell you RG, my mum and stepdad were out in Cardiff saturday and had no idea what was going on - obviously it was the speedway. They did there were lots of very very friendly people from lots of countries walking about, yay for speedway!
Speedway is awesome like that ;)
loving your facebook "liking" work gavin ;)
@RG - sorry I don't know how to do a reply! You're right, speedway fans are generally a very friendly lot, we had a random Polish guy crash our traditional family picture, but he seemed so excited to be in front of 10 people in union jack t-shirts we let him! We people watched while having lunch and I would've almost bet money that there were more Polish flags around than British, I suppose because lots of the Brits support their local team rather than country. And you're right the Brits had a very disappointing evening, I still remember the excitement of Bomber's win at Cardiff a few years back but no sign of that form on Saturday night.
@lukeh - I can't imagine what it must be like to head to Cardiff for the day not knowing about the GP and walking into all that - sounds like they enjoyed it though! I wonder what the atmosphere is like on Rugby days?
Rugby days at the millenium stadium are absolutely immense in experience. My favourite rugby match I've been to was a exhibition between Wales and the Barbarians with 75,000 full stadium. Really, really out of this world atmosphere.
The Polish love their speedway. I do like supporting both myself though. Shame for Harris, was kinds disappointed in Nicholls too because I thought he has been good for his clubs this season.
:D
Evening again.
Had planned to have an evening drink at the bay with mum and her sister. It started raining so they decided not to come... not telling me this 'til I was there. At least I had a nice drive. :)
Heya Pat.
Hey Cali. I keep telling 'em - I have been to the Danish round a couple of times. Excellent value for money ;)
I can't be the only one, surely ;)
well, you're certainly doing more than most. tis appreciated.
They were very emotional at the one I went to. Some were a little bit too aggressive but when their man won, I swear that some were in tears...
It's certainly no problem ;)
Speaking of... http://twitter.com/AussieGrit/status/18372331976
Shame there was a race on this weekend because I'm sure he woulda been at Cardiff too.
Afternoon everyone :)
Mr C... Have you had much time to test the ye new commenting system on the iPad? It doesn't seem to like the post rendering or at least it doesn't seem to keep up very well with my typing speed. I know it's a new thing and i'm not criticising I just wasn't sure if you had spotted it.
have had that issue. but i dont type fast. you mean the preview thing?
wait. i have NOT had that issue.
Interestingly it works much faster on the iPhone 4. I wonder what the 3GS is like?
it's either a slow javascript engine or slow rendering engine. i doubt there's anything i can do to improve it sadly.
Yeah the preview thing.
I have to test one more thing. I just suddenly realised that the time I am commenting that way is within the browser inside the feed reader. I wonder if it's struggling on RAM? I'll have to try when I get in (am walking up the hill to home at the mo).
ahh could be. if christine ever returns with
myher ipad. i'll let you know.it's fine on my old ipod touch, if that helps.
Hello all, last world cup song from Dave Henson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1uxDLazDK8 It's quite a sweet one, and a mention of Forlan in the commentary for Christine ;)
evening folks
I've just finished watching the race just now.... I think it's really harsh Alonso was screwed by the safety car two races in a row....
Well, the penalty was given before that annoying Sutil ruined de la Rosa's race so... just the way it goes sometimes.
Harsh in valencia but he wouldn't have had a problem with it on Sunday if he just gave Kubica his position back
Goodwood is on ITV4 right now
Hmmm I thought the penalty was a tad mean at first. But when the safety car came out it was basically "go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect £200"
The FIA knew the SC was coming when they announced the penalty..... They knew that would be the consequence of it.
Hi all
Steeeeeeven :D
Alonso knew he would get a penalty when he passed Kubica unless he gave the position back but he decided to gamble. Sometimes when you gamble you lose. Domenicali after the race claimed he didn't give the position back because he didn't gain an advantage. He went into the corner second, came out of it first by overtaking off the track. To me that is an advantage. I have no sympathy for him.
First time I have seen that in a whilr
while
Rammed ff the road....
I can see where Ferrari are coming from, they are arguing that as Kubica retired no advantage was gained. Its wrong but every team would argue the same.
It seems silly... He would have given the place back when asked. He wasn't given the chance....
There was about 5 laps between Alonso passing and Kubica retiring...
Sorry Alison but I disagree. Most drivers would've given it back immediatedly, Alonso knew what he was doing and wasn't going to give it back.
Nonsense. He should have given up the corner. That is what his left pedal is for. He chose to put his car in a position where he was never going to get round the corner on the track
Why didn't they ask him to give it back?
Surely he didn't need to be told to give it back? I think he knew what he did.
They did. Kubica in his interview with Holly said he'd been told officially he'd get the place back.
as Brundle said, "doing a Hamilton" he was simply trying to negate any penalty.
what annoyed me more was that incident resulted in comments in the bbc forum that Kubica and Alonso's friendship would suffer. along with Brundle's comment that Alonso blocked Kubica coming to Ferrari next year.
He was pushed off the road though. In a sensible world, you'd be able to ask race control there and then what you had to do and they'd tell you....
and then Kubica retired...
Every driver is racing agaonst every other driver. Had he stayed behind Kubica rather than passed in the way he did he would have dropped behind Button rather than being a second and a half ahead of him. Ferrari have no case whatever.
Lewis passed Kimi at Spa in a similar incident. Lewis gave the place back then passed Kimi legally and still got a penalty. I don't remember Ferrari saying that was unfair. Ferrari are just having a strop.
He shouldn't need to be told. A double world champion should know that gaining a position by leaving the track is illegal and you give the position back.
Stewards need a month to decide what biscuits to have with their tea
That incident came be seen in so many ways though. should alonso have given the place back, yes, did he? no. i'm an alonso fan and i'm not that bothered by the race.
Look at all the mess Hamilton got into last year at Melbourne though waiting for official decisions that never came giving advice about returning positions... They played it "safe" and gave the position back and it turned out to be wrong...
It's not going to affect their friendship but I would not be surprised if Alonso blocked Kubica going to Ferrari
He was not pushed off the road. He put his car in a position where there was no chance of getting through the corner
but that suggests that Alonso has Ferrari over a barrel and is calling the shots. If he is its impressive as he's only been there 9 months or so.
That was during a safety car period though. Race control had time to think about it.
They were side by side already so he should have been given enough room to get round the corner on the track. It's not like Kubica left an Alonso sized space as he went round.
They never gave any response during the race though.
Why should he? He was using the racing line right and as long as he stuck to that why should he let him through?
Ferrari have spent a fortune on Alonso so they will want him to have a team mate he is happy with. They see him as their future and their best chance of winning. It is normal practise in teams to do that I bet Lewis approved Jenson for example
If someone is side by side with you, I think you have an obligation to leave them track room at least as wide as their car.... If you don't and they go off the road to avoid a crash then I think that's your problem.
i do believe kubica was in a place he had never been all weekend.
if schumi had done what kubica did, we would all be decrying the move, now and for the next 10 years.
Alonso was on the outside of a very narrow corner. There is no possible way to overtake there. Alonso should have conceeded the corner. He knew when he decided not to that he was going off the track to make the pass. It was not something that came as a surprise mid corner
replay here, btw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NXKeVsqPX8
he was on the racing line. kubica had lost the corner.
DC after the race said that Kubica was always going to run wide there. Of course he was in a place he had not been all weekend. Alonso was outside him preventing him taking his normal entry line so his exit is dictated by the entry line
but no driver is bigger than Ferrari, so we keep being told. The team have faith in Felipe or he wouldn't be there at all, and the team is these days run on policy of both being equal.
That's what I saw....
shades of melbourne 2009?
*giess off to compare footage*
geese? goes.
for what its worth i read it as goes. :P
ah no, it was vettel who ran wide there.
Alosno was on the outside of the left hander and had lost the corner there. Anyone who thinks two cars are gong to go through a tight chicane side by side is being massively optimistic. Maybe possible at the Ascari chicane at Monza but I doubt at many others.
i disagree.
Schumacher was bigger than Ferrari. He took Brawn, Byrne Stepney etc to Maranello and totally changed the team to suit himself and as a result Ferrari had the most successful period in the history after their least successful.
Ferrari would have done a tad better this year without Santander's poster boy me thinks...
I am 100% certain that Lewis had no say in it... but I think he preferred Jense to the alternative...
Sorry Steve, I beg to differ Alonso was on the racing line and Kubes pushed him out. I think Ferrari should have told Alonso to give back the position though and the rest was simply bad luck for Alonso which is pity for the fans.
They'd have done better if Massa would move out his road....
watch the two cars in front of the battle, they take alonso's line. the only person in a different position is kubica.
Yes if you put it like that I guess he has shown that he can't overtake cleanly...
It is unrealistic to think Kubica is just going to cruise through the left hander to leave the apex of the right hander to Alonso. There is no way Alonso had come close to completing the overtake at that stage and even with a backmarker trying to get out of his way in that position I doubt he could have made the pass and stayed on the road.
It's hard to get round someone in an identical car. I think Massa isn't aggressive enough to try and overtake sensibly.
Considering Santander want Massa in the team because of the Brazillian market both are, and we have no way of knowing what Kimi would be able to do.
I do not actually buy all this that Alonso would not have Kubica as a team mate stuff. Kubes is a bit of prima dona himself (like Alonso) so he like the idea of being the number 1 driver. I am sure Kubes would not actually like Renault to consider Heidfeld as a team mate for next year.
He has certainly made a few mistakes but for me if he can handle everything that goes with being a Ferrari driver he will bring them success but only of they keep him totally happy
We know he doesn't shunt his team-mate off... generally gets off the line very well... and never ever throws his toys out of the pram...
Alonso didn't shove Massa anywhere.
Alonso was on the normal entry line to the corner but Kubica was on the inside and had the apex. Alonso could easily have blended in behind him and followed him though. If Kubica had been overtaken in the middle of the chicane he would be getting slaughtered for not being a proper racer.
He has made a ton of mistakes especially the minute he's under pressure....
As for Massa I am not convinced he really over his accident... but then being shunted by your team-mate doesn't help...
Hmmm...
That's not what I saw....
Hehehehe, I heart this video. What if classic video games had a super easy mode?
http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1938370
I think Alonso is over-driving and making more mistakes that is his norm. Sadly have to agree the Massa does not seem as competitive as before the accident (or the car simply does not suit him). He is really struggling in qualifying.
Massa knocked Alonso (along with half the field at one time or another...) off the track a couple of races ago.
Massa came from behind, tried to overtake and his rear tyre got caught by Alonso wing at the next corner. at no point was Massa shoved anywhere.
kubica could've taken a tighter line and not ran a competitor off the track.
i like kubs, but that is a schumacher/hamilton special right there.
Kubica is defending the corner because Alonso is trying to pass. He is on a standard defensive line but not the normal racing line. It is perfectly acceptable to defend the corner. Kubica's exit from the left hander is different to normal because what he is trying to achieve is different. A dingle car going through that chicane is simply trying to get the maximum exit speed from the right hander so will compromise the exit to the left hander to get a better entry to the right. Kubica is trying to prevent an overtake and because his entry is so much tighter he runs wider, earlier on the exit. This is absolutely fundamental geometry/physics. If you enter on an inside line you take an earlier apex and an earlier exit. He is prepared to do that because all he is trying to achieve is to stay ahead of Alonso so once he has completed the exit of the left hander he knows he is going to exit the chicane ahead. Alonso knows that as well and decided to leave the track and make the pass.
well put my thoughts precisely. I am afraid the rest was poor gambling on Ferrari's part.
I agree about Massa not being over the accident. I expected Alonso to comfortably beat him before the accident last year but a head injury like that takes a long time to get over. I have seen a few drivers in the past after they have finished racing admit that a serious accident took them two years to get over properly
Ah yes... he came from 4 spaces back on the grid didn't he?.... and he's certainly not on top form... interesting...
agreed. and with stewarding decisions this favouring the brave this year (weaving etc), it was probably worth the gamble.
Mostly celeb-pandering and style et luxe twaddle, though they found time to talk to Jackie Stewart about the Lotus and show the top ten runoff.
I was expecting a bit of a walk through the paddock or a mention of Karun or especially Bruno, but no, Jenson's dad was apparently more important.
Fernando had a bad start simple as, and whilst Felipe has shown flashes of speed he has struggled this year.
:D
especially in qualifying - whereas in the past he did not have such problems.
that reminds me of a video i've seen from the Spanish media, portraying Hamilton as an outlaw who gets away with things, was rather funny. :)
My favourite one is the Space Invaders one :)
You missed out one word...
That would be ...again...
Ha :D
At least on the feed/coverage of qualifying I watched, after it was all over, they showed Alonso standing there for several minutes totally scoping out one of the Red Bulls.
i have to admit i think the driver steward thing is a massive fail this year. no consistency. on paper it looked like a solid decision, in practice it's been a disaster.
I'm aware of that but right now he's push that Ferrari for all its worth mistakes will happen.
hehe. i loved that, i've seen an image with him and felipe looking at and you can tell they want to steal it.
We have no phone signal here what so ever, BUT the lady we are staying with (my friends aunt) has given us the code for her wifi.
I love it here already. Currently sitting with a cup of tea and watching the birds on the sea :) soo lovely :)
I am feeling for Alonso - he is trying so very hard (too hard?) and yet the results are just not reflecting that effort. He definately offended a god or two up in the heavens.
It suffers from the same problem as before - different people at each race.
And they seem to be expected to know every regulation intimately, that's not their job, I think some/most were expecting to provide a drivers' eye view as Damon said at Monaco.
I think it is hard to assess because the driver is only one of four stewards.
I would like to see one steward only and the same one for the whole season to get fast consisten decisions. It works perfectly well in other championships. For me Tony Scott-Andrews is the man and I think he should have a driver as his advisor and again the same one all season.
Sorry Steven. I rang lukeh from the beach earlier but we were all getting all getting a bit grumpy without communication
Wher are you?
yep, he has such heart and as a fan i love that he still thinks he can win the title, I don't think he will but provided Ferrari start getting some luck they will interfere with the title battle.
the problem is, the driver's eye varies.
imagine having schumi judge your move one weekend, and coulthard the next. how can that ever hope to work?
i'd agree with that.
I think he needs someone to do what Gerhard Berger did for Ayrton Senna and lighten him up a bit. Senna became a better driver as a result
Awww. You have to be connected to the world.
I definitely felt sorry for him yesterday.
Devon :)
agreed. and that has just reminded me that he did a video chat earlier on the ferrari site and i missed it!
It is hard to let it go.. It does help to have a clean break for a day or two though
yeah it's nice just to have an iPod touch :)
also ferrari need to learn how to use spacing on their articles: http://www.ferrari.com/English/Formula1/News/Headlines/Pages/100712_F1_videochat_alonso.aspx
Glad there is a bit of Alonso going around on the site tonight. Being a Rosberg fan he had an excellent drive on Sunday (sure there was a bit of luck) but to finish on the podium with a damaged Merc was not a bad achievement.
to be fair though it was worth the gamble in doing it, at the start everyone was very positive over doing it.
the Spanish media's view on Hamilton and his penalties: http://yfrog.com/izoutlawz
Lots of photos then?
Hilarious thanks for the link!
Rosberg has had a good seson so far. The unfortunate thing for him is that no-one knows how good his team mate is so there is no way of knowing of Rosberg is doing particularly well or the car is better than people think
There is way to test it, upgrade the team with Heidfeld - if he does the same to Heidfeld then he must be better than Kubes!
not yet. But she does have the most amazing border colly dog who I'm considering taking home lol there is a beautiful island across the causeway... Will go for an explore tomorrow

Yay accomodation for London sorted. ♥ Emma #Spa
Oh yeah, I got mine sorted the other day too
Right, I will get this blog post done if it kills me. Been writing on and off for a few days, trying to figure out the right way to do it...
Now listening to Giggles Radio - Early Bird S while writing, as I discovered Saturday that watching a race at the same time was too distracting...
Ahh, are you following the comments for that? Was a stressful show!
Yeah I do usually follow comments. I've got it open in the netbook so I can blog more freely on this one. Thing is because it has fallen off the thread selector I can't use LCLT as I would when live, so I can either see comments or video.
Just on this blog post, I have decided to write this post and one more like it (same format as the Cathedral Paddock post) then a summary to tie it together with links to all my stuff and to lots of other people's stuff. I'm determined to finish it this year because I didn't last year. But not all tonight.
Excellent, keep up the good work :)
So I'm 3 songs in and it is a classic already, he's far too good at this :)
Ta :)
Is Mr or Mrs C around? I need help with setting up a poll for something I planned with the daily.
#notreallyhere
Apparently not. e-mail them at [email protected] and [email protected] and when they pop up here someone will tell them to check their e-mail
About to do just that. But thanks anyway. ;)

The 2012 IndyCar chassis supplier announcement will be on Wednesday. There's a rumour floating around Twitter that representatives from Dallara will be present, including the CEO.
If Lou is still around she will be pleased to know Jessica and Jenson were together on Sunday

Thought it might
I was excited about this from Day 1, and now that it is indeed pushing through, I'd LOVE to see it. Knowing our country, though, it will not make it to our cinemas. I will certainly buy the DVD if and when it comes out. :)
YEEEEEEES! :D
Come to think of it... this is a bit similar to Lewis and Nicole - broke up, then got back together within months. :)
A little overexcited there? :P
Juuust a touch. ;)
