Hello everyone and welcome to Sunday. We’ve got another very full day of sport ahead of us, the main two events for me being the British Grand Prix, and the final of the World Cup. Now, if you’ve been paying attention to the comments you’ll probably be wondering why I’m looking forward to the football today. Well, to put it simply it marks the end of it all! I’m sure many people will be sad about it, and I’ve seen many people enjoying the atmosphere over in the comments... but it’s been a month, time for a break. However this is the daily, not the football post, which means I should really get on with the bullet points;
- It’s been a busy couple of days over at Sidepodcast towers, several people from the comments, Mr and Mrs C included headed over to Joe’s event at Silverstone, and despite trying to drown their ipad in beer, and abusing their camera it sounds like the second British Evening with Joe event went very very well.
- The site has also been busy yesterday with two fabulous posts. Firstly Janna has written about her first experience at Silverstone, it’s a must read so please spend some time reading and contributing to the comments. It sounds like a brilliant day! Another must read post that’s been published in the last 24hours highlights another brilliant Mclaren video, this time Jenson and Lewis ‘hit the road’. Personally I’m really enjoying these videos let’s hope they continue to make more!
- Giggles radio is on again today, so don’t miss it! While you’re waiting for it to start, Alex has released another short comedy podcast for our listening pleasure.
- Christine has also been writing for her own blog too this weekend with 3 brilliant posts for us all to read. She talks about marmots, the next stage of her adventures, and ipads. There’s even new photos on her flickr page too.
That’s it for another daily, apologies for it's lateness and shortness. This time tomorrow I’ll be on my week long holiday. However if you miss me, or have some time to kill I’ve now uploaded last weekend photographs from Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. I’d love to know what you think. Have a lovely day!!
morning all who are here
:)
mini daily :)
morning leigh
That's a normal size daily and full of good stuff
:)
it feels smaller. i like mini dailies, they don't take as long to write :)
okay i must sleep so that i can get up early and write that post for mr c :)
night all and thank you for being so lovely about my pics! :) xx
Just finished FP3 - now moving on to Qualifying
:)
night lou
Maybe easier to write because of all the things that are happening so you don't need to search hard for stuff to fill it
Good night
You deserve it
Glad to see that I am not the only one who watches FP (and other segments) post-event.
:D
Someone else earlier was doing the same thing.
I never got to watch due to my very late night, but I find it very interesting - admittedly I find Ant, Crofty, Ted and Holly more interesting than the action
:)
night lou
Eee its almost french toast time! I am excited
Good morning from Dubai airport :)
Should anyone be up, good morning. Should anyone fancy a bit of a read;

2010 British Grand Prix Practice and Qualifying round-up (Silverstone, Round 10, July 9th - 11th)
http://wp.me/pSi0N-eM
I am home! It blows my mind that next time I see Pamela will be in London :D
Morning from the Shaun Weather show...
I'm live about 10 miles from Silverstone and i am looking out of my window at boiling dark rain clouds which are filling the sky. It will brighten up later according to the BBC weather forecast - but they are never right ;)
And now over to Shaun with the Weather... It's already really warm and sunny down here in THAT London. But we aren't about to have a Grand Prix today!
Morning everyone :)
hola!
That was def the best race weekend dinner/lunch debrief yet. Surprisingly enough to talk about even though it was post quali not post race.
Best part was paddock walk around Albert Park though :)
So did you have a nice meal?
Yep, I had scrambled eggs with bacon, etc, and Amy had french toast with blueberries! Breakfast at lunch time.
I shall blog soon but I got distracted making iTunes playlists of Giggles Radio songs :D
Mmmm... French toast...
As in the songs you'd like to hear today or songs from previous shows?
songs from previous shows that I've heard and gone 'I like that song, why don't I have it?'
I am on a downloading spree
Aha... I am in the ordering phase... All songs selected and pruned... Just putting them in the right order now.
Mmmm, bacon...
Hi Alex, by the way. This comment above is making me hungry and i'm in the position, after looking in my fridge, to manage a fried breakfast situation...
Hi Shaun!
Mmm... I wonder what I have in stock... I'm going to have to go for a rummage!
OMG! it's just started raining here! - and just to remind everyone, i am about 10miles south - west of the Stone...
oooh...
Ahem, just had another look out the window. The rain has stopped, the clouds are clearing and i can see blue skies...better put the slicks back on again guys, sorry...
here was part of our adventure :D
http://twitpic.com/24ayaa
Plus we almost stood on the podium. Well under it really... Very eventful for a sunday lunch :D
I'm still super confused by that Japanese flag in the Torro Rosso pit now that I remember their test drivers are both Antipodean.
breakfast's ready: http://yfrog.com/0mc71oj
@ Amy,
How did you get a pit pass?
in Melbourne? I got a pit tour through the McLaren membership program.
Nice.
Just given it a five star rating - and i am ravenous now!
Love that Karun is asking for traffic info on twitter :)
What? for the stone? A43 will be a nightmare...but i do know a way round it...
http://twitter.com/karunchandhok/status/18254574194
Head of the A43 for a place called Tingwick. In the middle of the village you will see a tern for Water Stratford. Take it. Head to stow school. You will see the gates for school in front of you at a T-junction. Tern left here and head for Dadford, then straight on for the Circuit.
Go the back roads mate.
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en-GB&ie=UTF-8&tab=wl
This does not link to my directions, sorry.
That's okay... Are you not on twtitter? Shaun... You could tell him yourself.
The power of twitter people are tweeting Karun pictures of the road right now: http://twitpic.com/24b79q
Don't do twitter mate...cut and paste him the instructions below if you like and see if that helps him. If it's to much trouble, don't worry about it mate. At this time of the day whatever way you go - you are going to get bogged down...unless you can fly ;)

You know what Alex, i think he's gonna make it! :)
http://twitpic.com/24b79q
Wow! clear as a bell...
Oh, stop it! this is unbearable! ;)
I'm going to have another look...
Doh!
It's raining here now too...
Blue skies here - and now i'm going to have to go to the shops and buy some bacon because of you and that Amy...pictures of bacon rolls indeed...
Back in a jiff ;)
good luck!
Thank you :)
Good golly, I'm rather tired.
London is grey and overcast for once
not any more...
@ Alex,
Back from the shops now, all is quiet on the mean streets of Bicester, not a chav in sight...and. Bacon, Cumberland Sausage, freshly baked crusty white bread, eggs...
Imagine what those bad boys are gonna taste like when i've given them the old frying-pan treatment? ;)
I have seen Mark Blundell.
I can confirm that he was NOT towing a caravan
What ever happened to him?
Awesome. Sounds like you're going to match our offerings from earlier then!
I've heard he's getting back into some sort of racing I believe
Karun has been hat flinging with the crowd... great picture:
http://twitpic.com/244pnf
He's doing some endurance things, and I think he's handed over 2MB management aswell, so I don't know what he does as his actual job.
Brundle left 2MB last year, so maybe it's done for good?
quite possibly.
Brundle has been tweeting about his motorhome he got on loan from the caravanclub and swift and about lots of sponsor presentations at the GP,
See you Shaun
Yep,
catch you later...
Morning all.
Morning :)
Morning :))
F1 and Football collide (again) Fernando Alonso and David Villa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ax3mEV7hY5I
trouble is you need to know Spanish to know what they are chatting about :)
Thanks for the birthday Shoutout in Yesterdays Daily, Sorry i wasnt arround yesterday, Quite hectic with it being Alison's Last Day!
Heres Hoping Vettels wing falls off later on! :D
This Was Me :D
So does anyone think that I should delay my show by 30 minutes today? I am worried that the red button stuff will knock into it.
In other news U is looking to be a surprisingly light show V fine and W is well stocked!
Morning Nick
nooooo #needssleep
Unbelievable. U can't touch this. I'm still Undecided if Under the bridge would make it. There are also the Unforgettable Untitled songs by many artists.
Heh...
Um... okay... I hope people will switch over :)
I have 56 U songs. This shocks me,
Of course if it were Up to me the Update would make and Uprising
and there was me thinking my 19 was impressive.
and because it's important knowledge, the Backstreet Boys have 3 songs that start with U.
That's quite a few. More than U2 I think
I have 135 to choose from... But finding the right 30 is going to be harder I think. I've picked 16 so far.
I mean compare this to W where I have... 856 to choose from.
I have 4 by Pearl Jam and Metallica but they cheated by having The Unforgiven I, II and III.
Hehehe. Wow!
ouch.
I imagine Z will be even harder ;)
They're packing the TV's away!! How am I going to watch the Grand Prix without getting sunburnt!
If it was my collection, Z would be hopeless
I own 12 different versions of White Christmas! That could be half a show right there ;)
For your peace of mind: Aaron Neville, Anne Sofie, Bing Crosby (2 versions), Chet Atkins, Dianna Krall, Dolly Parton, Frank Sinatra, Paul Carrack, Tony Bennet and John Denver and one by and orchestra.
Z is going to be a lot easier than X!
Maybe you should Leave that show for December. Actually, if you can find another 18......
I have 25 Z songs... But I do have some ideas that I know I don't own yet. I own 3 X songs and haven't really thought of anything else yet!
I have 18 versions of Even Flow by Pearl Jam. Oops.
Cripes, I only have 3 X, and one is "Xmas in July"
All by Pearl Jam or others too?
I have 2 X songs, one by the Foo Fighters and one by ELO.
all by Pearl Jam, they have commercially released 6 live albums, plus I have 12 of their official bootlegs too. I'd hate to imagine how many version I'd have if I had all 263 of them.
Currently thinking X,Y,Z might have to be one show. Y has quite a few to choose from...
Pop Will Eat Itself have a song called "X, Y and Zee"...
That could kick me off... Thanks Bill :)
No problem - also possibly helpful:
XTC vs Adam Ant by They Might Be Giants
Zebra by Beach House
Afternoon ;)
Morning guys, my iPhone becomes the live commenting tool!
Evening. ;)
Hello all
Hoping for the following in the U Show:
Underground Overture - The Wombles
Ugly Duckling - Bernard Cribbins
Under the Moon of Love - Showaddywaddy
What do you reckon to my chances?
I have one Z song - Zing went the strings of my heart - Judy Garland :)
One of those songs is already selected but a different (original) version
Will have to wait & see. Looking forward to the T show today
I've been bad and missed recent Giggles Radio shows, shall endeavour to listen today.
Im debating whether i should leave work early and watch the race from home...
Don't debate, do it!!!
I am managing 2 people...
I thought it was a pretty irresponsible thing to do even if they didn't! :P
Guys, honest answers please. Is the F1 Live Timing App worth £19.99 halfway through the season?
Depends. If it's the only thing you have for timing, yes. If you have a laptop or desktop going as well, then maybe not.
It is a great app though.
Morning.
Anyone writing the World Cup post today?
The app came in mighty handy with a laptop and live BBC pictures.
I believe RG has done it.
Awesome. Just that I had a couple hours to kill if anyone hadn't already ;)
How did you moving house go, Mr & Mrs C?
I'm going to miss all of the "other sports" guest posts now that Wimbledon and the World Cup are over. Everyone's contributions have been fantastic whether they were experts or novices at watching that sport.
Pick up the keys on Monday.
Ah Monday. Sorry I thought it was last Friday for some reason ;)
Morning all
nope.
bassano was going to write a review but seeing as he;s run away i'll probably write one tomorrow.
How was the BBC's version of the live track map thingy BTW?
we've yet to see it.
Oh... I thought it was supposed to be for this race? Perhaps it's race only?
tis.
think so, yeah,
sounds like Lotus are hosting Radio 1 this weekend, I've seen mentions of take that, a sugababe (v3.2), chris moyles and more being in their garage and motorhome
one sugababe on her own?
Catherine was way, way, way too excited to meet a member of Take That.
Well Katherine just said she met a sugababe, so I may have jumped to conclusions :)
Still, aren't they all selotaped together? They shouldnt roam alone, it's dangerous for the sugababe clan to do so as they usually get replaced
Well, enjoy the race guys, we are off to a friends for a BBQ and then we will watch the World Cup. It's as hot as the Red Bull Motorhome after Turkey here today...
does that mean they are due for a line up change then?
#sugababesfolklore
25 races a year then?
During an interview at Silverstone with BBC Radio 5 Live, the 79-year-old said the success of the World Cup had convinced him that F1 should also be in Africa.
http://en.espnf1.com/f1/motorsport/story/22921.html
:D :D
Bring on the Vuvuzela GP
Be fair, anybody could pass themselves off a a Sugababe. Hell, I could!!
It might be a good idea, seeing as the World Cup has shown that SA like to get things done like China do, they could probably put on a street race...
Hey, folks.
Something came up here, so I may drift in and out of the chat.
In case I don't catch the post-race montage, would greatly appreciate if someone could grab a cut of it and/or get the song they used. :)
Ooo Top Gear advert, I amost forgot Rubens is on it tonight!!!
Hi guys i have the ipod app and was happy with it until yesterday when at Silverstone i could not get any 3G on my o2 phone so i was left haveing to ask people around me what the heck was going on, not easy with earplugs!
in short if you want it for home and have no computer near the tv get the app if you want it for the GP and are there don't if you are on o2. other networks might work.
good luck and enjoy the Gp..
Do I now have to switch threads?
If you want to comment the race, then yes
Brundle is flying!
Top Gun music... Sounds like they are getting ready for the T Giggles Radio show :)
Would refer you to my comment to TM about changing threads ;)
Mr C... I think I might have broken the Giggles Radio post... I don't really know what to do...
looks fine. wassup?

@Christine
There is a film on BBC1 at 10:25 that you must do a Film Watch post on. Should be on the iplayer all week. It's not a great film but it should make a good blog post. It's called Catch me if you can
I actually quite liked the film
I'll keep an eye out for it :)
I did as well but it is not a film you need to see because of great performances or special effects etc. It is an awesome true story
In fact weirdly we almost watched it last night. Strange co-incidence.
Maybe the BBC are reading brain waves

Oh no. All my Stig illusions are shattered. Rrrrubbish.
I always knew it! ;)
Very disappointed. Glad I stopped watching Top Gear now.

OK something more entertaining for everyone. Emma Stonier is looking for F1 dream teams. Current and/or all time
http://twitter.com/emmastonier/status/18299261391
I am going to get something to eat then give it a go
Newey and Smedley. Just gotta choose the team manager now.
I have given mine
@emmastonier My dream team? Rubens and Jenson as teammates... Ross Brawn team owner.... *sigh* :)
I'd add Jock Clear and Whitmarsh to that
Football done, Top Gear in a minute, hopefully it will be on iplayer
awwww!
They pulled a new wing off Webber's car and gave it to Vettel after he broke his own?? Oh dear.... :S
He didn't break it. It just jumped off
Ah okay... They're good at the PR fail? Is this as well as giving Mark Vettel's old "broken" car?
have you heard about mark's radio message?
http://sidepodcast.com/2010/07/11/all-we-hear-is-radio-ga-ga/
As well asgiving him a car Vettel said was undrivable.
Cripes. Why have they done that? I feel sorry for him now...
BBCq are not showing Catch me if you can they are showing Bend it like Beckham
BBC fail
Answered Emma's dream team. http://twitter.com/stevenroy27/status/18307062301
Now to work out an all time team
Poor Mark :( I really don't like him at all but maybe I won't hate him anymore... :(
Emma Stonier says the rumour at Silverstone is he is going to drive the third Ferrari that Bernie wants.
Don't think so
That sounds like ridiculous nonsense to me...
the way ferrari are going i think they will only be satisfied if all 24 cars were ferrari. mind you they'd find something to moan about.
a1gp
They had that with A1GP. It disappeared within a few months
Stop copying me before I say stuff
:)
#sorrysteven
joking aside. i can see why Bernie would support a third ferrari though.
Would you be allowed 3 HRTs?
I would allow it
#comebackbruno
aww. he'll be back for next race anyways. thank the lord.
nope. Bernie would support 3 Ferrari's because (as was argued during the FOTA/FIA war last year) Ferrari have a massive fanbase. third car = more (ferrari) fans = more money for Bernie.
phew!
Yamtamtoro (I have literally already forgotten his name) was dillydallying around in his own world today. Slowler than slow in already a slow car
I reckon HRT were just trying to mess with my championship standings. (Not that Senna had any hope anyway).
Bernie may have said it but there is no way he is going to give Ferrari more power. Imagine if he does that he then has to do the same for any other team that wants it. So 3 Ferraris, McLarens, Mercedes (es), Red Bulls, Thats the points for every race sealed up and 4 people who can take away half the grid. Bernie does not like opposition
You have to wonder what they were expecting...
money. from senna.
Maybe but with those for teams they should be in the top 8 points position each race but that hasn't happened this year. Third cars will never happen (unless the T-Car returns)
someone asked us the other day, and we couldn't find it, but the free trial of gp+ has returned: http://www.grandprixplus.com/
just downloading this weeks now.
Why would he bother? Did he not know they'd come crawling back when the other guy couldn't stay on the road...? It's just petty and surely debases their brand generally.
they didn't come crawling back, he found the money. didn't he?
only he found it a little too late for this race.
but its the Valencia addition. i don't want to remember that race ;)
hehe.
That sounds like extortion or ransom
I think they would have though. Yamamister clearly was not a sensible driver for any team....
I think one of Bruno's sponsors didn't pay on time so they dropped them as credit cintrol
that said. i liked the piece on gerard lopez.
Answer to Emma's all time dream team
All time dream team
Drivers Jim Clark Gilles Villeneuve
Engineers Rob Smedley Giorgio Acanelli
Team Principal Ron Dennis
Tech directors Colin Chapman/AdrianNewey Chapman for the big loopholes, Newey to package them and someone else to tell me when they take too many risks
Test drivers Jackie Stewart / Alain Prost
pay us the money you promised or go home. seems reasonable to me.
Surely there's a more civilised way of dealing with problems like that though...
slightly more extreme than the tea and toast money for the staff room at work.
I suppose HRT want a bit more than 50p though.
none quite as effective.
It is normal practise in motor racing. Bruno is committed to deliver sponsorship payments by certain deadlines to get the drive. One sponsor didn't deliver so he doesn't get to drive. If someone promsed you money for a product or service and didn't pay would you still given them what they wanted?
Used to happen quite a bit to Spyker. Small teams need money and don't care where it comes from.
I guess that shows that the piranha club is still alive and well. And don't call me Shirley.
:)
Time for sleep, g'night guys
