Wakey wakey. Still with us aren't you, even after the Spanish Grand Prix? Please say you are. That wasn't the greatest of spectacles, but hey, lets not complain too much, at least Kamui Kobayashi and Timo Glock remembered what the chequered flag looks like (and about time too). And now, the bulletpoints:
- As mentioned, a race in Catalunya took place. And I'm sure you are aware of my look at the new teams and Lukeh's snazzy bitesize race review. But if you have some spare time in your day (I bet you do as well), check out Leigh's lengthy review of the entire weekend. Its insanely long and I don't blame him for the fact his fingers hurt after all the typing
- Mr Jon Waldock has a nice little post up on why there are too many feeder series which lead up into F1, and how Moto GP has got it spot on. Jon raises quite a few good points so do check it out.
- And, well, I couldn't go this long without mentioning it. No, its not that Spurs have reached the Champions League, but that our very own Lukeh has been talking to the 2009 FIA President Candidate, Ari Vatanen. Yes, the exact same Ari Vatanen who won the 1981 World Rally Championship and lost out to Jean Todt to become the new FIA President. Now, that is without a doubt, totally fantastic. He's also saying there might be a chance to go to the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix, you lucky... ;)
So, another week, one more week before the exams really start to kick in for me. Oh yes, totally fan-tas-tic. And, one week till Monaco, it will be mayhem, you have my word for it.
Have a nice Monday.
Mystical Amy.
hehehe! :)
You finally got the lottery numbers right? Congratulations
I suspected the reason for his contact straight away. Not surprised in the slightest! Very jealous though :D
i didn't even know it was for a competition! i thought it was just a very awesome video Lukeh made cause of the song and the whole situation...
I have pre-ordered my iPad!
I have also ordered a MobileMe for Pamela
There is actually a link to the competition under the video on youtube. It just goes to a page that doesn't exist anymore :D
ahh, uk store is still down
Which model Jeremy?
I went with the 16GB WiFi + 3G
I don't need the extra space but the small price gap between each model makes it so tempting. Imagine carrying around all the F1 races for the past 2 years :-)
Anybody know why I can't download Quali or the Race from iPlayer? Normally they have a link by now...
Only thing I can see there is highlights.
Quali

They are not on the A to Z list but you can pick them off the BBC 1 pages for the appropriate days. Most odd.
I can see them to stream the content, I just cannot download them to watch later for some reason.
Odd. I don't know the answer to that
Guest post sent to Christine and Mr C.
Must be the shortest guest post I have ever written
Can we play the word count game?
I'm going to go....1500
received cheers. would you like christine to check it over, or are you happy for it to go up now?
Publish and be damned. Then Christine can sort it if necessary
can do :)
give me 5.
I would say lower but I am not going to check
For the last two races, I have set my iPod Nano to record the audio of the noises I make while watching a Grand Prix. The quality of the recording isn't great, but it's incredibly funny to listen to (even if I do say so myself). Lot's of 'ooh' and 'aah' noises. A few 'Go Lewis' and 'Go Mark Webber' calls last night :-)
You should send in a sample as a voicemail
totally! :)
I need to spend some time editing today. I think it would be fun if we all did it and then made a montage.
You should right a guest post on that subject to encourage other people to do it and use your clip to show what you mean.
Sometimes volunteering people is so easy ;)

doing textiles late at night makes it much easier to hurt yourself on the sewing machine :(
Most of last weeks work is done, this week is revision week therefore making it automatically a week of procrastination. Thus I must start this off well...by sleeping!
Night all
Shouldn't you be sleeping if you have school in the morning?
Night Jon

Shoo
have pre-ordered x1 16gb wi-fi ipad.
YAY!
Are you planning on getting some kind of personal hotspot device like MyFi or MyZone?
it's an option. i am so rarely away from a wifi box these days, a roaming ability seems unnecessary.
I have not pre ordered an ipad but would accept one as a gift.
Morning people.
Gosh, what a lovely day to cycle!
I am pretty certain Andrew Benson saw a different race yesterday: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/andrewbenson/2010/05/webber.html
The Spanish Grand Prix was not as bad a race as many had feared, although it was certainly a bit of a comedown after the highs of Australia and China.
and
It seems likely that this year's Red Bull, the RB6, will go down in history as one of the greatest cars produced by one of the most brilliant designers in the history of Formula 1.

For F1Wolf: The difference between Hong Kong and China: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/from_our_own_correspondent/8667871.stm
am here :-)
... who wrote that ? seriously shallow article ... not exactly right, not really wrong, but very shallow for something published on BBC web ...
Shallow in what way?
well, I live here and last 2 weeks I crossed that borden 5 times each direction. so it should be quite easy for me to imagine what the author wanted to tell... I have no idea.
P.S. not sure what that remark about Starbucks coffee on HK side was about. My Shenzhen office is 5 mins walk from HK border, right above Starbucks shop :-)
Hmm, interesting...
but yes, I agree, the two places are seriously different and someone would have to pay me seriously big money to even start thinking about moving north of the border :-)
morning everyone
Oooohh-err
Wasn't too long I hope?
:o
Morning all.
Finally paid Franck some attention: http://iheartfranck.com/2010/05/10/2nd-place-in-1000km-of-spa/
Morning peoples
morning lukeh,
how are you this morning after yesterday evening's adventures?
eeeeeeeeeeeeek ;)
:D
Ahh, i was wondering what had happened with that! Thanks :)
Forgot to post these yesterday:

Morning. Awesome day, nice and warm. If only it had been this way Saturday I could've gone out in it!
my cycling will have to wait til this evening i'm afraid
:(
It was better than Bahrain but only just. Easily the 4th worst of the five we've had though.
I think that's a valid argument. 'Great' cars are ones that beat the rest of the field hands down and look great doing it, and it fits those descriptions IMO.
Crofty has weighed in on it: As for the Spain race I thought it wasn't bad for Barcelona. Plenty to talk about, could have been much worse
http://twitter.com/CroftyF1/status/13716725818
I am not budging with my D. ;)
I didn’t think it was too bad, but it only garnered a 2 out of 5 from me – the first half was OK (especially the Schuey/Button battle), but it tailed off rather badly in the second-half.
One thing’s for certain, the GP2 race showed that you can pass at the circuit.
James Allen's description is best, but I liken it to going to the Dentist for a root canal and being told you only need a filling – we were expecting a very dull race and we got a race that wasn’t terribly exciting instead.
Great cars are also ones that are not fragile in my opinion. I think it's important. That's why the Lotus 78 is not as well-liked as the 79. Both were revolutionary Ground Effect cars, both were winners and smashed the opposition, yet the 79 was a lot more reliable.
A truly great car ticks all the boxes. The RB6 is a compromise. I suspect it's only fast because they push the limits too far over breaking points and take risks where the other teams don't.
He's right in terms of developing the storylines. No racing though..
There was plenty to talk about. Just that not all of the talking points were related to the action. For example, Hamilton's retirement shouldn't be a race highlight in my view.
GP2 seems to do that a lot :) I know the cars are identical but surely there are lessons to be learned from them
Can't wait to watch the Feature Race tonight - I missed out the whole season last year (I have them, just never watched them)...
True enough.
Same here but I have to watch things in order unless they are live or I get annoyed, so I'll start on them soon :)
I'm past that point!
gavin... check yo' threads
Sorry Mr. C.

There is an argument in my class involving myself regarding flash and apple related products
:)
Nooo, I wouldn't even try that much!
you'll struggle to lose that one.
Office sweepstake?
Still think you need that football conversation program on the IT Crowd :P
everyone else seems convinced flash works on all of apple's stuff...
I have no idea why they think this...
i guess it works on snow leopard... for the time being.
Still think you need that football conversation program on the IT Crowd :PAs long as you know the words “Chelsea” and “drubbing”, you’ll be fine
:)
They're including ipads and ipods and iphones and whatnot though, I even got out my ioid touch to prove it and they still don't believe it o.O
Yes. Would be useful for a lot of other things too.
Blue lego brick of death

Talking of motorhomes, did we share this? http://twitpic.com/1lu2wx
It's very... red.
I saw it yesterday, very purdy. although I still prefer Lotus' cute little shed :)
You should see the spreadsheet I have been asked to modify for a World Cup Game Picker: http://drop.io/f1numbers2009/asset/world-cup-2010-tipping-scorecard-gcb-xlsx
Again not mine, but had to help with the formulas!
Our company has those silly car flags with our branding on for a marketing promotion thing. It keeps causing World Cup conversations.
All you have to do it
* Nod agreeingly when English fans criticise their performance
* When asked about the team choice, just reply 'what was Capello thinking?!'
* Agree when English fans say this will be their year (they always say it's their year but it never is)
I said something like: "Oh yes, Rooney, I've heard of him. Mm, Crouch, he's that freakishly tall one, right? Uh huh, yup, yup, Warnock what now?"
See you're almost there :)

Guest Post!
Wassup Alison?
Should I shut up about it? I'm a little excited
I want you to tell me why I want one ;)
After Monaco ;)
You're fine. Tell us more.
Want: it's shiny
Need: you don't if you have a netbook
What have you been using it for so far?
What if I have two netbooks, none of which are shiny?
Gorgeous screen
Surprisingly easy to type on [no external keyboard yet]
Twitter, BBC News & Photo apps are wonderful
Looking forward to Official Live Time for Monaco
[May be a few Doohickey issues to iron out in time
#SorryMrC]
Taking it to work today after I sync'd my photos. Have been exploring mostly, was quite tired when I got home last night
Have loaded an HD TV episode to watch tonight, pretty decent sound from external speaker
Oh, go on then :)
Is it the wi-fi or the 3G one?
Nooo it's fine. I want shiny shiny.
I went for WiFi for two reasons. Mostly, I'll be using it at home
I also have enough 3G coverage with my phone and don't have to need to pay for a data plan
Ahh I see.
It's important to say, it's not a primary device.
It needs to connect to a 'puter & iTunes to register and sync'ing, updates, etc
Oh really? Now that is interesting. I assumed it was a stand-alone...
Am looking forward to the flag league tables this year
Excluding England, Portugal won during the World FlagCup last time round ;)
You could probably activate it in store and update it on another machine now and then.
Apparently there's a decent market for the Silver Surfers who struggle with IT
No OS navigation issues
Exactly. Even Netbooks are complicated!
I am full of F1y dinner. I love sidepodcast :D
I think the tablet form will all but kill netbooks
I read that sales in the last 2 quarters are way down alreadY, thought to be partly due to iPad rumours
Shame HP cancelled their project but with their purchase of Palm, they may be re-working it for a mobile OS [Palm's WebOS is highly rated]
Right, I should get ready for work
Catch ya later peeps
I really think there's a market to replace a netbook with a tablet of some sort - I mean, I only use mine lightly and I reckon the iPad could easily do most of the stuff it does...
See ya ;)
I can't open it
OK, so normally I get quite a few page hits on the weekend of a Grand Prix, even if I am late in posting. Today I have the same as last week. Is this a sign of indifference towards the race?
Have you found that on other races?
You should be able to. It's an .xlsx file (excel 2007) which you need to download a converter for to run in excel 2003 (which is what I have here and it works).
One last thing, the iPhone is like typing on a matchbox now ;)
#SpoiltByGadgets
Nope. Even though I posted my Malaysia posts a week after the race, I still got a satisfactory amount of page hits.
What about you guys? Have you noticed a drop-off? I have noticed fewer comments during the live sessions (or is that just me)?
Maybe it is just F1, until it gets good again I guess people aren't as bothered about the ins and outs of the race.
Maybe. I'm not doing it for the page hits, I'm doing it because I enjoy it and I know other people do too. But I just noticed the lack of page hits - and another thing too - less links from the P-F1 and AUTOSPORT forums.
I would conclude that people were not interested enough in this Grand Prix to bother talking about it?
If you look at the actual number of comments on our live thread, it's been going down all season.
I thought so. I just got a despondent SMS from Uncle Goat - you know, the Ferrari fan I stayed with at Easter. He doesn't sound too happy either!
me personally I enjoy race better when I focus on watching it instead of commenting and tweeting. race on one screen, live timing and twitter on another split screen (but Twitter to see the tweets from the teams rather than reading "A crashed" "B spun off" :-) ) .
Ferrari are doing alright, aren't they?
I don't have a converter
It is highly likely that there is just too much information now. It was always going to happen.
Hold on, I'll save it and upload it again then :)
last year I didn't like having twitter open because it was just tweets from fans and things that didn't really add much to my enjoyment, whereas this year I quite like having it open because I like getting tweets direct from the teams.
Twitter is just too much when the race is on. I barely look at it TBH.
The official stuff is fab.
Try this: http://drop.io/f1numbers2009/asset/world-cup-2010-tipping-scorecard-gcb-alternate-xls
I agree. I still get more out of commenting here though ;)
well, it depends whom you follow :-)
Too many. I try and have the sidepodcast lists open but it's too much. The official feeds are excellent though!
A loooong time ago, Mr C said something on the podcast along the lines of the best thing about live commenting was the before stuff. Gearing up for the racing, finding out who is having nachos, where in the world everyone is. Once the racing is on, it's not necessarily about the number of comments but just knowing there are other people out there, watching with you.
Oh that is so true! Not feeling like I watch it by myself because my friends and family don't like F1 is one of the best feelings in the world!
I have Tweetdeck on, and the selected few whom I follow are giving me good value for no money :-)
I have got to do something about that!
I recently whittled my Twitter followers down and it makes all the difference. Now I can actually go back each morning and catch up where I left off. Impossible previously.
I mean ones I follow, not followers.
I'm heading this way too.
Don't worry if you don't want to :)
the joys of working in accounts.. wondering whether to send this fax :)
Thank you for your fax today threatening to make a county court claim against us (copy enclosed). I am sure your solicitor will only be too happy to concern himself with the overdue amount of thirty pence.
:D
Already did: http://drop.io/f1numbers2009/asset/world-cup-2010-tipping-scorecard-gcb-alternate-xls
;)
Oh go on!
I myself lost the motivation to blog. The site has been on autopilot for months and would have been dead already if not for the prediction game and all the people playing. But chances for the site to make it past 2010 are slim. I had few long breaks since January and exactly nothing has happened. I haven't missed it a bit, in fact I felt liberated :-) The less time I spend on the blog the more I enjoy F1 :-)
I also have to admit that since the pros came in and started to blog I almost stopped reading the other blogs. Very much the only place I still come to is here, mainly because of the community. I just don't comment much during the F1 action :-)
I'm the same, the only blogs I regularly read belong to actual F1 journalists
Thanks, that got it. :) Stupid company not upgrading..
That looks like a hell of a file!
that's interesting, hadn't thought of that. for me, joe's blog replaced grandprix.com, james' site is new, but came at a time when ed gorman cut back. which other pro's blog regularly?
my google reader list also has Buxton, Codling, Darren Heath, The Times F1 Diary and Jake Humphrey. And thats about it. This is why I am not one of these people with 1000+ unread things on google reader :D
the problem i have with pros, is they have a vested interest in claiming f1 is still exciting. like joe alluded to recently - don't make something look bad, unless you really have to, it's your livelihood at stake.
community bloggers mean a lot more to me than pros.
This is true, I like the stuff people spot in the build up as well
hard to say if regularly but Adam Cooper is there, Will Buxton. some have blogs, some just columns, but with Twitter is easy to find them once the articles are out
well that is matter of opinion. I still find F1 exciting and I tend to agree with Joe on that one :-)
I will do. :) It is only the local water company and nobody likes them anyway. We paid it by cheque and I wrote the pence figure wrongly... so they sent us a fax which I'm sure will turn up by letter too. Utter madness
Like I said, my friend made it and I updated the formulae. Took a while thougH!
You don't read our blogd?
I felt that way when I stopped doing the big race reviews. I can recommend a conversational style whenever you feel like it, not tied to a schedule
Cooper and Buxton
*cough* and of course Stuart
Occasionally when they are linked to in the comments but I'm not subscribed.
I agree. I used to be a fan of the Sopranos and bought a catchup guide for series 1-3 (it was very good, in fact).
They claimed that it was "...Totally unofficial - so if an episode sucked, we will tell you so!"
Blog when you WANT to, not when you HAVE to. Makes a huge difference :)
Hmm. I'm not saying it because I want you to subscribe to mine, but there are some really good writers you are missing out on by not doing that IMO.
fair enough. i think a fan is going to call f1 boring, when they find it boring. i think a journalist is going to claim that "not every race can be a classic". and they'll easily keep that up all year long if they have to.
ultimately a mix of both is ideal. having said that, doohickey has put me off blogging.
I used to be subscribed to lots but I found myself skimming through them and not giving them the justice they deserve. I did really love your posts on the fuel analysis last year but the other things don't interest me so much.
As you can tell from those guest posts that are in the pipeline....one day....and the state of my own blog, I'm not a real big blog person.
That's a fair comment. I must say that a combination of being too busy and being a little disinterested in the races has combined so I have only done my regular posts - and the change in the rules has removed a lot of analysis from them unfortunately.
I will write something - I have an idea for this race, but again, I have no time this week!
and thanks to the fact the pros have blogs these days fans can tell them what they think :-)
that's also true. although twitter is maybe better for that?
the difference between now and before:
before - I had idea for the post I worked on it
now - I have idea for the post, I even have all worked out in my mind, but I keep putting it away until the idea becomes obsolete :-)
the latter is very much me too :D
much more convenient, Twitter
part of comment went missing :-) much more convenient Twitter, but the blog has the post one can comment on
afternoon everyone
true, it's all in one place :)
Hmmm… quiet here today
DRINK!
No it isn't.
Feel free to start a conversation, though.
So anyway, this new fangled invention… television I think it’s called or TV (as they say in the west country)
Was busy earlier. I think everyone went to lunch.
New fangled, just like them printed things called newspapers!
New blog from Jake: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/jakehumphrey/2010/05/welcome_back_to_europe_formula.html

Heheh.
i heard they're produced on crispy bread!!
speaking of print, if one more person says 'is that an iPad' to me when I'm reading on my Kindle I may go postal.
Oh dear. You could get a big sticker on the back? "No, it's a Kindle. Thanks for asking."
Could you "go email" instead? It's more MFC isn't it? :D
the odd thing is every single person who has asked so far owns an iPhone. Surely they notice they don't look a thing alike?
Quiet everywhere. Am preparing a blog post on that very subject...
will it be a blank page?
Ennui writ large? No, just utter lunacy, I think...

2010 has been pretty tough for me as a blogger. It seems like half the F1 internet has shut down and the rest has become a pure echo chamber. It feels like we're being told less about F1 than in previous years. In such an environment it's difficult to come up with new stuff - for example I've made the grand total of one blog entry in May so far.
In fact it's got to the point that even though I really really want to write about the LMS race I saw yesterday, the creativity drain is so bad that I'm struggling to string words together to make the entry happen :( (and not feeling able to blog or even find inspirational F1 blogs by other people has definitely had a negative impact on my F1 viewing experience). I feel like I need to solve this problem in order to ensure my long-term ability to watch F1 as more than a opportunity to shout "Go Force India!" at the screen, but have no idea how.
Stuart ping: http://www.stuartcodling.com/2010/05/slow-news-year-perhaps-we-need-max-mosley-back/
Definitely. I see this as a combination of:
- Slow news year (see ping, above!)
- Established bloggers running out of steam, or finding that changing personal circumstances reduce their opportunities to blog
- Newspapers/magazines cutting budgets, so less money in the pot to pay for original content (either by sending full-time correspondents or buying in from freelancers); agency copy used instead, or cut-and-pasted by cheap and inexperienced office-based staff
– New websites calling themselves blogs, but actually trying to pass themselves off as news services (and acting as GMM echo chambers while doing so). See: F1 Times, Formula1Blogger, et al
so if f1 is dreadfully boring right now. maybe we need some f1 nostalgia to keep us interested?
not sure what, but maybe something like "this time x years ago, this happened in f1". we all pick an event from early may in our chosen year and blog why it was cool / not cool?
i already do that kind of - it's actually the original intention of my site
it is?
so if f1 is dreadfully boring right now. maybe we need some f1 nostalgia to keep us interested? {Comment #218}
The trouble is I am interested in F1 and have found all the races except Bahrain worth watching - as alluded to at the end of my previous comment, I even have ideas (albeit not necessarily F1 ones) - but getting them written in the face of general apathy is difficult. To be honest, it was easier back in 2006 when I had an audience of four interested people...
oh right.
start another blog and don't tell anyone where it is. problem solved.
yep - it's a part of the site called reflections where upon i look back at previous seasons and write posts on the individual races while also focussing on specific drivers / teams / tracks - i'm currently working the 1999 CART season and will do the 1979 F1 season afterwards

I'd agree with you that all of those are factors. Admittedly I hadn't noticed the latter one (F1B's been doing what it's been doing for ages and I've managed to miss most of the others because I prefer the original GMM echo chamber at Yahoo!) but I've certainly spotted the other three and I can see how the fourth wouldn't help either.
ahh, right. i was thinking more of an f1 equivalent of this:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/default.stm
start another blog and don't tell anyone where it is. problem solved. {Comment #222}
Considering how much trouble I have finding any platform on which I can blog (and the two I've found that work - and already use - don't allow multiple blogs) that isn't really an option for me either :(
for example, 1999 cart has the slow downfall of al unser jr and michael andretti, the rise of montoya and franchitti and the sad loss of both greg moore and gonzalo rodriguez, as well as tales of roberto moreno super-subbing for mark blundell
see what you mean
:)
Even I could do this.
indeedy. i have no interest in current f1 news, but i certainly could get behind stories of yesteryear :)
Great idea.
On Thursday it will be precisely 60 years since the first World Championship Grand Prix at Silverstone. Petrol was still rationed at the time and the race was held on a Saturday because Sunday was still a ‘day of rest’. Only three cars finished on the lead lap, and they were two laps ahead of the people in fourth and fifth.
I have just the thing!!
my memory is no good for these things! Pamela and I spent far too long tonight trying to remember who won the Spanish GP last year, and didn't actually come up with an answer.
Who needs memory when you have Google?
the battery on my phone was dead! traumatic!
button - see, no hands (meaning google)
;)
Good lord!
i had no idea!
tell us more :)
I spent most of my day at work downloading maps of Europe and adding all my hotels and things I want to see to the GPS thingy. Then when I got home I forgot to charge it :(
wonderful. can we have a rule that the next person who suggests things are quiet, automatically qualifies for guest post too?
I like this idea because it won't be me :D
I'm sure I could manage something eventually
Oooooh yes.
hehe. i would like you to write a guest post via the comments, we'll scoop all up answers and publish as a whole when you're done.
amy: overall, how did you rate your australian gp experience and what was your stand out moments?
we like a volunteer. what's your chosen subject?
I think you should just go back to the daily threads from that time, it will practically write itself!
meanie :(
if anyone else has questions for amy...
my favourite race possibly?? the 1996 monaco gp
I can also sum up the stand out moments of each of the 6 days as such: "Heikki, Heikki, Paddock, Crofty, Heikki, Joe"
perfect. can we pencil you in? and will you need prodding?
actually, I would like to change the third Heikki to "Catherine"
6 days? christ.
amy: take us back to day one. which day was that and how did the day start?
(this could take awhile)
do you want it for this week? seeing as how it's monaco and all...
that would be lovely.
(hearts) leigh
i'll try to keep it relatively brief - i do have a habit of going on...
would it a problem if i put it on my site too?
there's no limit though, long articles are good in times of slow/no news.
please, please do.
oooh it was Wednesday and I was at work. Then I went to the behind the scenes tour and skipped most of it because I was only there for the driver interviews. The published list of who would be there was wrong, so there was Unexpected Finn, which is the best kind. They ended up having Sutil, Liuzzi, Kobayashi, de la Rosa, Tweeting Kovalainen, Hulkenburg, Barrichello and Buemi.
Then Pamela tapped me on the shoulder and said hi, then I met Paul and we went to have dinner at $12 steak night, where we met Jeremy and his luggage. Sidepodcastfriends, assemble!
(I really do have briefs of all these days written down so I don't forget things, I just struggle to actually make them into posts :( )
grand job. already sussed out how i'm going to shape it
:)
I've done mine. Can I publish it? :)
it doesn't have to be concise piece of writing though.
you could call the series "amy's gp diary", or similar, and then make each post like a days entry. brief notes, scrapbook pictures and rough timing etc.
what? please do!
That would be way cool.
oooh. That makes it sound easy. That makes me think I could even handle doing it for more races, if other races turn out to be as epic as Melbourne. Singapore and Monza could well be "Friday: sat in my seat and watched cars. Saturday: ditto. Sunday: ditto" :D
w00t!
this makes me very happy. i just want to read that f1 can still be awesome. format be damned.
You know there are no rules for blogging, right? You write/share what you wanna share. There are no word limits or nothing.
Ping: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/05/10/on-this-day-7th-may-2006/
Yeah I know, I need to get out of my "I am not a writer" brain. I live in "I am a transcriber" brain :D
Ah, in that case, you need to record yourself talking about it, then transcribe what you said.
Does it count if it was just about an awesome man and not necessarily awesome times?
it made me happy, so yup :)
I just learned how to make a screen shot of the kindle. I feel smarter.
Afternoon all. I overheard a conversation in the bus station on the way home and a guy beside me talking to his friend said Lewis Hamilton was a cheat because he crashed into the barriers yesterday, which I found quite odd!
Sadly I resisted my temptation to ask this stranger why...
he was doing a Piquet!
You missed a wonderful opportunity there...
;)
I found out this afternoon the big day when I get the results regarding whether I've graduated or not - June 23rd! Eek!
Right before Goodwood so hopefully a chance to celebrate when there :)
is anyone going to the historical motor show at crystal palace at the end of the month?
I think Alex and Bassano are going, me and Lou are considering going too
Maybe. Need to save money first so we'll see.
Grand - I shall be there on the Monday if you are going then
:)
I think the Monday is a bank holiday so it's super likely we'll be there :)
Sweet; although I meant be tired/giddy following a day of the Turkish GP and the Indy500
:)
In browsing the archives, I found this headline: http://drop.io/mrschristine/asset/msc-png
Sounds about right.
:)
did he say that before or after the world ended?
paddock life is worth a read: http://www.autosport.com/news/grapevine.php/id/83515
"...a brief collision with a track barrier, and cramp fears from Dodgins, whose short legs meant he struggled to reach the pedals."
heheh!

eeeeek!
Just home from work, thought I'd watch the BBC forum. Had to turn it off. What's that annoying noise they've used on the highlights reel? It's unbearable.
*nothere*
It's EJ
I found it. Go Go Go by Lethal Bizzle. Was a hard find. Mixed with Bat out of Hell by Meat Loaf.
Hello, folks. What. A. DAY. Frantic elections here.
I don't mean the music. I mean like an actual nails on chalkboard noise.....
Really? I didn't hear it when I watched the YT rip.
Well I'l refresh the iplayer and see if it's still there. It's an awful noise though!! I can't see how you could miss it.
It wasn't there live
I'm not bringing this up for discussion, quite the opposite, but I thought this should be pointed out
Saw it. I'm going nuts right now, switching between 3 local and 2 foreign news channels. At midnight. Insane. :D
I'm ignoring it all. They'll work it out and I can hear about it then.
Perhaps the lack of F1 politics at the moment is what's making me look for it somewhere else... :D
I'm confident I won't like the outcome. I'd rather delay the inevitable.
Why? You have a twitter account for things you want to share.
grrrrr why must people spread nasty rumours!!!
hello all :)
it's the only way they make their promised "20 highly researched articles a day".
not at the racing?
*shakes fist at rubbish people*
hehehe!
I just don't get it.. i hardly talk to these people and then somehow i find out they have been spreading rumours about me and my mental health! i mean... what?!
I do but not everyone a) has one or b) checks it. I thought it important people know,
it's not important to me. i couldn't give a flying felipe.
but then me saying that will annoy some people, and that is why the whole subject is best avoided,
I knew that, which is why i said to not talk about it.
this expression makes me happy :D hehehe!
Not everyone looks at Sidepodcast either?
Then why talk about it? Either way, I have a bunch more comments to delete.
Sidepodcast-ers do.
I didn't mean to make it a thing, I just see it as important that people knew but knew that you don't like it being discussed, which is why I said about not making it a discussion.
Mr C do you know anything about header redirects in php?
yup, what do you need to know?
OK. I will stop doing it
:)
it was you?! ggrrrrr
:P
Whats happened?
Damn. I thought you knew
Am getting the 'Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by' message again (got it last week with something else with but got that fixed) this one doesn't like going away though...
As far as I know you can't have php code before using such a thing right? Someone ahs suggested using something called
ob_start; (header); (ob)_flush;
but I've not used that before...
Obviously the header code in that would be header("location: soandso.php");
well knock me sideways:
In recent years, McLaren has placed diamonds on its Formula 1 cars, encrusted either on its drivers' helmets or on the cars' steering wheels.
However, this year's race will feature a changed helmet pattern for the 2008 World Champion, although the specific differences are yet to be revealed.
they can't possibly have come up with something new? also, no jenson?
http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/formula-1-news/234334/hamilton-to-wear-special-monaco-helmet/
there appears to be a rumour going around my class/school/ classmates parents.. and more distant friends that questions my mental health... and suggests i am agoraphobic...... i know the outside is bad ;)... but seriously.... what?! :s ...
you can, you just can't have php code that writes html output before calling it.
if headers have already been sent, it means you're either trying to write to a cookie, or display something on screen before calling the redirect?
what?! Jenson doesn't get any diamonds? :(
maybe Jenson is going to get something nicer?
hmm, will take a look at my code again then... i don't think I am but i might have slipped something in ive forgotten about
Sorry im so bad at explaining my code, its definitely one of my weakest parts of something im not too particularly good at...
I saw you cowering in the corner of that pub.... :P
no worries, i can't really offer much more help than that. either there is a closing php tag, or an "echo" line in there somewhere. old debug code maybe?
:D hehehe :D
Hello all, been out for a walk in the lovely sunshine although it's a bit chilly. Issues with Twitter at the moment mean that everyone has zero followers. Best comment from Paul Cornell:
I always said one day I'd have as many followers as @stephenfry. ;)
ha! heeh
v.interesting comment from stuart: http://www.stuartcodling.com/2010/05/slow-news-year-perhaps-we-need-max-mosley-back/comment-page-1/#comment-491
Hello *shakes dust out of her hair*
*waves* how is iceland?
veeeeeery dusty. The house where I live is directly under the ash cloud since 3 days ago. It looks like we live in the middle of a beach
That doesn't sound very nice. Do you need to wear a mask?
woah! really? that sounds kinda spooky. it's not dangerous for your health or anything is it?
No, only if you do something to disturb the ash. And since I'm only lounging in front of the TV when I am home all is well ;)
I don't know.
Hi Kathi. You should get a hat
Ohh my FR team did well.
It will only be bad for you if you inhale it or swallow. Oh and if you get it in your eyes, ears etc. So long as it is on the outside of your body you should be fine. It is nasty abrasive material so if it gets inside you it is bad. Bits of you will start sounding like you camera lense
:D
How was the race?
Not very exciting but it is Barcelona so what can you expect.
What race?
...oh, the Spanish F1 event.
Did somebody get the wrong idea when it was pointed out that Lou and Lukeh are crazy for each other? ;)
If anyone is interested, Ferrari GT Evolution is free on the iphone/ipod touch for today
http://itunes.apple.com/app/ferrari-gt-evolution/id299180582
I have to disappear for a couple of hours.
I will speak to you lot later.
Now that's the sort of info we all need to know ;)
Bye
hey kathi. the 12 laps i saw were... umm... spanish?
Home again..
One of my favourite songs by a NZ band called 'Shihad': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGdTUG0TGVI
It was Catalunya, you can guess the rest from there...
I was going to say "that's mad" but perhaps that's not very tactful. :)
:)
It's just pre-exam silliness. Everyone gets affected by all the work and the studying and things get said. Don't worry about it!
You've got about a month of school left. Just keep with the people you like and you'll never see the others again. Ever. Really quite liberating.
Indeed. Close ranks and batten down the hatches, then party like mad when it's all over :D
Very true.
Then 10 years later they want to find you on Facebook. Ignore ;)
haha!
Luckily I've only had a couple of those, I did accept but I'm tempted to unfollow...
They weren't my friends in school - in fact quite the opposite. So why change now?
TOATA PING! Just a bit of uni thoughts and some music :) http://toata.wordpress.com/2010/05/10/80-ridin-the-dragster-wave-for-a-few-more-weeks/
I like it. I needed to mellow out too. Thanks Lukeh :)
bye everyone
Bye Kathi!
see you, stay safe.
hey everyone,
back in - what goes on?
bye Kathi, be careful :)
hey leigh, not too much. Just relaxing mostly, how about you?
Mr C,
It probably won't be finished this evening, but the Monaco post will be ready tomorrow
:)
Bye Kathi, take care
much appreciated dear chap
Just in the door really - had a nice long cycle of Victoria Park; managed 6 laps this evening after work.
I'm happy, because I don;t feel that tired
:)
Hi Leigh, watching the webcast of Sony Radio Awards, Chris Evans is hosting.
sweet - nothing too interesting I hope
;)
Just watching Adam Boulton going mad on Sky News - very, very funny. I really can't stand that channel, but I do love it when he gets flustered
:D
It's quite funny, all the acceptance speeches are short. Was hoping Answer Me This would win for Best Internet Programme but they came second.
Am going through all my blog posts archives and I rediscovered this truly beautiful video... :D:D:D:D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCAb5KvX9Og
i love how the drum roll nearly grinds to a halt about 2 minutes in
class :)
Only just noticed after all this time how the child runs away at the start. A premonition of the performance about to come maybe :)
This is also worthy of attention (derision)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8jg5pjvwjw&feature=related
Well she's not miming thats for sure :D
i think maybe i want that to be my funeral tune.
no idea what she's doing to be honest
Owwww my ears hurt .
Just finished watching the Sonys as Mark Kermode won for Best Specialist & that was the last one I was interested in and I thought, oh look, some videos to watch from the comments. They require health warnings!
I don;t think I've heard Nirvana play whatever version she appears to be singing
they appear to be missing a bass player. quite a problem when the guitar only plays two notes on occasion.
love the stuck jacket at the beginning.
they do.
Now letting my ears recover by listening to The Archers ;)
Poor thing isn't quite sure what to do with it :)
Nice park
oh wait. he stopped playing altogther.
Rock on :P
Ah I saw that name on your Spotify feed. It imported itself with the Facebooky thing.
How did you get the YouTube video to embed on Wordpress??
Yay!
Just did the [youtube='link'] think as I normally do
On the other hand, I am currently reviewing possibly one of the oddest singles I've heard all year... really bizarre stuff, but strangely good
Luke from motorsportprint is actually amazing!!! :D he's helped me with my textiles coursework! extra marks for artist interview here i come! :D
Ah... I might have forgotten that exists :)
He is a legend and not just for his name :)
It's your fault I started listening. I think you mentioned it on one of your blogs so I thought I'd give it a try, now I'm hooked. It's a good accompaniment to the washing up :)
agreed. nice chap, love his work.
I converted you? Awesome!
it's awesome work! :) it's his work that convinced my teachers to let me do f1 as my coursework project in the first place... i think her comments were something like 'wow... f1 can be art...' :)
Everyone should listen to the archers! Christine seems hardcore though... I'm more of a casual observer.
I ate too much and now I feel sick. Why is food so tasty?
I don't do soaps, and I spend enough time in a farming atmosphere. It's odd but I hanker for dramas set in cities.. One person's life is another's escapism I suppose.
something to do with communism i believe
If by hardcore, you mean ridiculously obsessed, then yes, yes that is me.
I hated it when I was there, now I get all nostalgic about it.
Hehehe I only listen to it when it happens to be on the radio at the same time as I'm in the car. That happens a fair amount though.... It's kinda weird. Either that or it's on all the time
what's the archers?
:O
I think that sums it up really well. I grew up in a small town and hated it so I moved away and was terribly homesick, really missed the country. Now I'm back and I don't like it again.. Actually it isn't so much the place as the people but that's another thing.
It is on quite a lot. I get the podcast, but I think it's six days a week with a repeat of each, and then an omnibus as well.
My Grand aunt was in the archers as a guest once upon a time.
I think i inherited the script!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Archers
WHAT!
:)
She worked for the ministry of agriculture, i think she played herself!
i see
Cooooooool.
:)
Thats one think i dont think she was ever decribed as!
#orDescribed!
just overhead on absolute radio:
"we're meant to be getting hold of the people at the sony awards show via skype..."
eh?
I know Christian O'Connell won one of the awards tonight, perhaps it's him?
i get why they'd want to speak with them live... but skype? on a professional radio station? i almost emailed in to suggest kathi help find them :)
Well, enough of this excitement, I'm off to bed. Take care all, comment with you tomorrow.
night janna
Ping: http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/05/10/life-in-the-fast-lane-ii-part-7/
Christine gave me an idea to go back and look at my review of muse;s newest album and see how I feel now compared to then... so I did!
http://toata.wordpress.com/2010/05/10/81-the-resistance-8-months-on/
It is a veeeery long post though.
Woot!
You write a long post about Muse? Nah! ;)
I put some stats in it and everythink!
Oooh stats!
:D
I won't lie, I clicked on it as soon as he said it :D
i won't pretend to be surprised :)
Hehe :)
mk ultra was mentioned in the men who stare at rubbergoats film last night.
Oh Lukeh ... there's another Photoshop challenge for you!
it was! I noticed that too, it's the codename for something bad the americans did in the 60's I think.
Did you enjoy the film after?
brilliant, just hilarious.
Awesome :)
i cannot believe ewan agreed to those lines. he's my new favourite :)
I would review it but I think I need to watch it again because I seem to be the only person whos watched it and come away unsure about it!
Clooney is fantastic in it though and the jedi stuff is just ridiculous :)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/5003
Why hello there weather in south france
I didn't get any of them :(
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_MKULTRA
good evening to you all
Predicted weather in Malaysia - Rain. Outcome, sun.
Predicted weather in Spain - Rain. Outcome, sun.
I don't believe the darn predictions anymore.
the only downside for me was the trailer showed 70% of the one-liners. but the actors were wonderful and it's easily one of my favs of the year.
awwwwwwwwww
Thats the one :) a scan of one of the documents is in one of Muse's albums (but not the same album with the song MK Ultra oddly)
Hi mr bunny
what's the weather gonna be rg?
YES YES YES YES!!
:D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPnGPIMUnus&feature=related
Sun. Chance of cloud later in the race, no wind.
appreciated
hey chappie
What the... O.O
That has to be eurovision related... right? Right?!
new challenge for people going to Spa meetup. recreate this video
ha!
Am checking out exact details for it now - am doing a post on it for Easy Music.
Evening all.
Outside is freezing. Don't the weather people know it's meant to be warm now?
We don't trust the weather people anymore, they don't know nothing!
you should come down south a bit... it's warmer down here ;)
It's Finnish and it's by a group called 'Armi and Danny'
Awesome, just remembered Monaco practise is on a Thursday :)
Aaaahh - explains my dead end. I was looking the guys name was Mervi Vesala
I just wish global warming would hurry up and get here.
What about this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OE2l6CPna4M
She's described as "a blend of Mrs. Piggy, Jabba The Hut and William Hung."
O.O!
hello you lot - how things? xx
Hi. How are you?
I don't think McNish will every get a job as a cameraman
http://www.autosport.com/features/article.php/id/2799
good thanks - much better than friday!
That's good. No fun having a headache
hi rocket!
no - it went on til sunday - very glad it's gone
Hey, I ain't too bad.
yikes, i can't watch that
Steven I blame you for this whole scenario!!
I gave Nick his present today and he decided he didn't even want it!!! If I'd just kept it, we'd never have had this mess.... :P
I watched all of it and it doesn't get any better. Not a great advert for the camera that the auto-focus never seems to work
hello!!!
Driver Consistency Post has been written: http://f1numbers.wordpress.com/2010/05/10/barcelona-driver-consistency/
may be too dark to work, i think?
How exactly is this my fault?
If he doesn't want it then he can give it back to you so no harm done.
He does bits inside as well and it's just as bad.
was thinking that - i found it odd they wanted to advertise which camera was used!
No I asked for it back and he refused to give it to me. Bad times.
i actually assumed it was a warning. e.g. it's not our fault.
yeah - that makes more sense!! :D
I was shocked by that. You also have to remember that video is what they have chosen as the best bits of everything he shot in 3 days
How can you give him something when he is thousands of miles away?
:D
image doing that! poor geoff.
I emailed it. Post is available though :P
Read and voted on Christine's latest chapter.
http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/05/10/life-in-the-fast-lane-ii-part-7/
If you e-mailed it you still have it in your sent box. Problem solved
It's a philosophical point!!
That's a lousy present to give anyone. No wonder he didn't want it
:)
:)
:)
:)
hahahahahaaaaaaaaaa
:)
You have spoken to Nick before right???
that is my comment of the year. close the polls, case closed.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Never
You really have to see Star Wars - even if you end up not liking it
it's not on itunes
Derren Brown is on Channel 4 doing a thing with psychics. He is following them and watching what they are doing. One of them challenged him to do the next person and looked absolutely gutted as he got point after point right.
:)
Boo
Brand new personal blog still needs decorating ping - http://betterwithakeyboard.wordpress.com/
ooh yay. nice one sir.
Apart from the fact I forgot to namecheck people because I was too excited about making a new blog
I definitely need new people for moral support. You're no good at all!
Woo!
you're saying we have no morals?
OK. I'll be sensibel then. What was the present?
I know a f1 engineer that does
Updated
If I had a Rob, I definitely wouldn't give it away as a gift!!
what in the world did croftie ask to get this kinda look?
http://www.autosport.com/gallery/photo.php/id/13250455
He asked Martin how many sausages he thought he ate that day?
:D
Aww Pat, way too kind. Mine is really just a football blog these days.
Thats a good plan actually, less football on the blog.
And I need to quickly update my blog.
Have you considered that Ron gave you the new job with McLaren Automotive so he can come back to F1 and you can make cars?
I'm going to tweet and ask him.
:D
:)
Seconded. Thanks for the lovely comment Pat :D
that's very "who told you to ask that?" look
Spot on. That is exactly what it looks like. Who told you/how do you know that?
yeah!
He's like an open book that man....
he really is.
Ah don't worry. There are others too but I didn't want a long list of names.
I'm surprised they let him speak to the press at all :P
"Martin, Did you manage to beat my record of seven sausages in the motorhome today?"
"Who told you to ask that?"
Updated (thanks to Sebastian), I need to get around the stupid change from 10-8 to 10-6 I have for the top 2 positions. Grr.
I just turned on star ratings on both blogs, because I didn't know I could before. Not that I'm sure they'll be used 'cos I rarely use them..
:)
i try to click them when i don't have a comment to make.
John Motson is on Twitter: http://twitter.com/worldcupmotty/
I'm just not in the habit. I ought to.
Oooooh
Good night guys ;)
Could this article be any more ridiculous....?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/10102398.stm
goodnight Gavin
Night mate.
Have they never seen Robot Wars
Sir Killalot could be helpful
"Panda-inflicted injuries studied" ?
"However, the German study is thought to be the first to look at the slashing injuries robots could cause."
I'm so confused. They appear to be shocked that programming a robot to slash at things with knives could be dangerous....
Okay, I found this. This is clearly more ridiculous. Perhaps I'm starting to think like Mr C on the BBC... I can't believe anyone has made money making this!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7624425.stm
Night
Ted Neewwws
http://twitter.com/tedkravitz/statuses/13749816549
oh to be a scientist, you make up a study about anything and get paid for it!
There are a lot of gullible people out there
what is?
no comment!
The exhausts.
Is... what they are.
Apparently.
(No idea.)
Can I just say I want one?
why they are so stupidly fast?
Why they are so quick? Why they keep breaking down? Why Lewis's wheel broke?
:)
is that a robot, or a job at the bbc?
that was actually my first thought!
cryptic kravitz.
if he says in 3 months time he predicted it...
I should get one for Nick. I'd rather trust him with that than with an animal!
Hey, why not both? If thats what its like at the bbc everyday.
sell out!
i think it probably is
i want to take the second one home and look after it :(
I don't think McNish will every get a job as a cameraman {Comment #482}
Well that's OK - he's got a long future ahead of him as a sportscar driver :)
My computer is useless. It's lucky I have my shiny shiny now...
it arrived?
They sent me two by accident. Sadly there was a bill with both so one of them is going back tomorrow :(
hehe. is it as good as you hoped?
My computer is doing something crazy with drivers...
I'm using mobile doohickey as I don't have a lot of data right now. I'm mainly enjoying annoying nick for free!
Have you been sitting skyping yourself?
It's signed Sakon Yamamoto?
hhhhhhheeeeeeeeee
:D
I can't decide on an iPad.
Why do they give you choice?
can you tell if normal doohickey uses a lot of data?
my assumption was it would use less than the mobile page.
they only come in black.
6 different kinds of black
Heston Blumenthal is an absolute legend... creative genius..
they're all the same size and all the same colour :)
What, where?
So you are saying go for the cheapest. I like that thinking
I hadn't really thought about it at all. My computer crashed while installing driver update. I'm really not sure what to do now. Display is ****
i still don't think i can use mobile doohickey...
i missed the last 3 so have spent the evening catching up on them while i finish some writing in my coursework textiles book. :) i wanna go to one of his feasts!
Install it again
did some updates recently, still broken?
I thought I was missing something. I missed last week so I need to watch that
Looking at blog themes... for both..
wordpress are doing a good job of creating new ones. do you follow their blog?
No, but I like their new default.
I mainly have been skyping nick. It was probably a good thing I couldn't do that from my office before!
Evening all, I need your help on something.
Just floating an idea around. As some of you know I want to do some work experience at the end of this term to gain more experience, well it's fair to say I haven't had a great response so I've been thinking of doing something slightly different... something I like to call "12 days of Motorsport".
The idea is that from probably 31st May until the following Friday, I shoot all around the country (although in reality more likely just the south of the country) reporting on different motorsport "things", so on the first mondays there is the first event of a new series called "Formula Academy" at Snett, I'd interview lots of drivers, write about the series etc which would be day 1. Day 2 (tuesday) i may shoot off to the Palmerdrome and talk to some people about FPA and F2 and how that all works etc.
So, 2 questions, what do you think? and if i did it, what kinds of things (in terms of content but also in terms of media used) would you want to see? all comments helpful!
http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2010/05/06/new-theme-bueno/
i will double check - give me a mo...
sounds good, but is the calendar busy enough?
in terms of race events no but thats not necessarily a bad thing, it dosent need to be just events that i cover. one day may be going to see a teams factory, the next interviewing a driver etc.
Well that opens a can of worms.
Um, might be interesting to get the driver point of view on all these minor categories, and how they pick a path. Also, how they can get sponsorship with that confusion.
Are they planning a career or just doing the one series.
There was an interesting interview with Riciardo or however you spell it on Aussie TV. It's fine i you have Red Bull backing, but what are these other guys doing?
what's the mobile doohickey's url please? my phone has been stupid lately and i can't find the bookmark!
Evening all
Mr C: just the man!
http://sidepodcast.com/realtime/mobile/
Alison to computer, please respond!!!
i didn't do it, it wasn't me!
Jiggle the cable.
Did you turn it off and on again?
thank you :)
Evening
:)
I come in peace, honest
Would you guys be receptive to an M|F|C guest post?
Arrrrggghhhh. Damn you Wired magazine.
Sadly yes. It's functional. Just very slow. Everything I try and do it's threatening to crash....
Sounds busy. If you're sure you can think of enough things and have time enough in the day to make some content out of it then it may be worth it but I really don't know what a prospective employer in the field would want
Are you trying to break your computer in order to replace it with shiny goodness? ;)
Shoot to kill shoot to kill
Restart. If it is Windows, if in doubt restart.
absolutely. always.
I set up...
check the task manger and see what is using resources
as long as its written on the ipad
we'll be able tell if its not ;)
:D
No I can't afford a new computer. I guess I could get Nick to buy me one. It's pretty much essential ownership!!
I have heard somewhere that Avon Tire (Tyre) is (partially?) owned by Bernnie. Am I out to lunch, on this one?
:)q
The spelling will be correct?
nope - still not working - it won't even let me open the page for some weird reason
I explained to Lou last night that it was the law that you had to deliver the punchline if someone gives you a feed
if your machine isn't booting, you could have big issues. what's on screen?
damn, okay, there's more i can try.
Grrrr. Now Wired are telling me the iPad with 3G is the go because of the GPS and maps.
What is a boy to do?
Interesting
I was thinking of an F1 Timing App follow up for SPC and a user's experience piece for MFC
Ideally before International launch [May28th]
It's booted up with normal screen. The problem is that I was installing display driver updates. The computer crashed half way through. I rebooted it but obviously the display isn't in the ideal state at the moment....
I concur
By this I mean the text is all huge, and all the graphics are very blocky. The display has all the normal stuff on it though. It's giving me a headache to look at it though. There's only about 3 colours.
I've never heard that but you never know with him
I think that if I can't get some proper w/e then I wont be too bothered about the lack of employee-friendly goodys. I would probably only go ahead if i had it 90% full when i started
sounds ace. you'll need to provide some screenshots, if that's okay, because we won't be able to make any until after the 25th :)
I toyed with this choice too
Since I have the iPhone I decide to save £100 and go for WiFi only
Might look into MiFi in the future which can be used with any device if required
I haven't heard it mentionned anywhere in print, particularly in Joe's blog... If someone would know.. What got me re-thinking about this is a post elsewhere that said that Avon may be willing to offer an un-branded tire supply, so teams could brand them as they will.. Tires by Goodyear, tires by Panasonic, tires by Burger King!
That sounds like such a weird plan, that only B.E. could come up with it... Except, how does he make money? Only if there is no other round-black-thing choice.
I was thinking that'd be the case
Did you save the driver install file before you ran it?
Specifically what kind of w/e are you looking for? What are you hoping to do in an ideal world?
Sigh. I don't really care about the 3G, it's the GPS. But I think you are right. The iphone can do that job.
sorry my phone is a pain! :)
i likes a challenge :)
No. I can go back on the website and try again. I've managed to change the settings so the screen is passable. I just don't want it to get in a tizz again.
For me, 32Gb more was a bigger gain for a similar price
in that case - challenge extended!
ahhhh. Yes, thats a good idea.
Glad someone else is thinking for me.
Motorsport related, partial media, partial event organisation, partial championship running type company. there are a few in the area of which are awesome but they aren't getting back to me however much i prod
Clearly i wouldnt get to do all those things, but working in a company that lets me see those things would be cool
I've been weeks processing those thoughts :)
So you haven't been looking at PR companies that give you all the same skills but not in a motorsport setting?
i have to go to bad now as I'm so tired my eyes have gone blurry! night night everyone xx
Entering the conversAtion late so apologies
Jon, are you looking for work or some experience?
fixed!
Night
I haven't no because whilst the skill set is the same the application is very different and PR is only one part I would be interested in. I've done a whole year of skills sets and theory, id now like to do some real motorsport application if i can
I was thinking about Joe's PR person Emma Stonier
night!! :)
Night Rocket
i was too busy doing my work and i missed Darren Heath on twitter :( booo!
experience, this is my original comment
night
night!
He will be so upset as most of his tweets are to you
Ta, have you tried Emma? She seems to have links and interests in other Formulae
ah yes good idea, thanks
That's a great idea
Lou: I'm sorry to say that I lost a good friend to Canon today :(
HD video was the killer feature. I feel I've let the side down
he didn't reply to anyone saying the link didn't work so maybe he posted and then closed twitter :(
Jackie gave me an idea about asking him if he'd thought about doing any photography talks in london.. like the regular ones he seems to do in singapore...
*Ahem*
Work experience!
I didn't know he did them. An evening with Joe - I mean Darren
but... who wants a dslr that has built in video :( bad times.
I learnt something about Nikon the other day that i had never realised. Nikon have never changed their lens mounts... so in theory the most up to date camera could use one of the first Nikon lenses (although it obviously wouldn't have autofocus..:) ).. Canon on the other hand.. changed theirs at some point (i think when they first introduced digital?).. very interesting. kinda makes me love Nikon even more :)
Speaking of which, would you be open to some wedding shoot stuff over the summer
I think you'd get a small cut for a days work?
My pal Keith is keen to chat with you
me! but ask me in tomorrows daily :)
i think he only does them because of canon's involvement in singapore or something... i found one of the lectures on youtube and loved it... even if the sound and picture quality was bad.
Darren doesn't seem to be the type who'd offer work experience?... i mean what would i do?... not sure he could get me a media pass for the day or anything.. i'd love to meet him though..
tomorrow is totally over rated ;)
People with kids, apparently
A colleague showed me an HD capable compact the other day, very impressive
women!
email him and ask him to meet up as you would love to tap his brain for photography/motorsport career advice
etc
ooooo of course!!! :D I'll be happy to shadow or anything!
sidepodpubbing! :) i'd love to meet him, i do get very shy around actual photographers though, it's like major career envy...
i've emailed him a few times in the past, he's always been very helpful. I might just do that...
If you don't ask you don't know. He may know people who give work experience or have stuff that needs done away from the track
Then at the end suggest the London thing
okay, i shall ask :)
okay, :) shall compose a lovely email to him in the morning when i'm not so tired... he'll probably get back to me around christmas time so there isn't any rush ;)
No, actual work
Have a look at his website http://www.shotbythesheriff.co.uk/
If you want to meet up, mid week is better for him. I can arrange something after your exam period when the time's right
blimey actual work! goodness me that's a scary thought. awesome but very scary thought. After exams would be awesome, i'd love to meet up with him.
have bookmarked his site so i can have a proper look in the morning :)
