Hello everyone! It’s race day and what an exciting prospect, we’re back to normal timing and we can finally settle down into the season. My daily is going to be a bit shorter today, I’ve got a deadline on Monday so it’s all go in the world of lou. Wish me luck!
Before we get into any F1 news lets get this out of the way first. Did you watch Dr Who last night?! We did.
Right, onto some lovely F1 then. Yesterday we had FP3 see the results here.
Qualifying went well today, for Red Bull, we’d be surprised if it didn’t though wouldn’t we. You can catch up on the highlights here and results here. As a small bit of post qualifying piece of news (isn’t it lovely that we have F1 news) Di Resta was given a reprimand for failing to stop at the weighbridge following the end of Q2, read more about it here. #sorrysteven
Of course qualifying wasn’t the only form of motorsport on yesterday, the 500km of Spa also happened, we live commented it too! Congrats to Ant and the Peugeot team on their victory! Well deserved.
On to the more art filled section of our Sunday now with some fun links for you all:
• Wouldn’t you just love to have this garden! How cool!
• Summer is finally here, so why not enjoy it with some relevant summer images?
• Ever wondered what it may be like f cartoons invaded our world?
• Never be afraid of getting old. Old faces are sometimes more beautiful than the youngest of models’.
• Here are some rather awesome Cars 2 themed vintage posters. Can’t wait to see this film!
• Do you live in Tokyo? If so please can you go to this resturant, take photos and report back to me? I would love to go there, how amazing does it look!
I shall leave you with two very amazing things. Firstly take a look at this brilliant video based on flip books.
Then open this link and marvel at just how talented this man is. What an inspiration.
Have an amazing day everyone!
Hello new daily
Geez, it seems like there's a new daily, like every day.
Another Lou daily :D
Yay! More arty links for my Instapaper...
And here's a song. It's byTwin Shadow called Castles in the Snow...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUlVZKqs5oc&feature=related
Hehehehe at the MTV2 advert. genius! More adverts need to be creative like that. Although I do love those Cars 2 posters... I hope Pixar actually use them for advertising in the cinemas and the like.
The final link is kind of amazing too. What a guy.
Greetings everyone!
What is with this NASCAR race on Fox ? I it only like 2x laps into the race. Very late start of did I miss a red flag ?
That is fanTASTic.
Wow.
I'm off to bed anyways, night guys.
Good night.
Is NASCAR racing allowed on this site or does there need to be Sidepods on the car ?
Night Lukeh.
You poke the comments then go to bed?
Night
NASCAR is allowed
I'm watching "An Idiot Abroad' Peru. I've kept missing it up until now.
So when is "The Big One" diue and who will cause it this time....
it's only one-thirty on a sunday and there's a new daily post?
#gutted
;)
sorry, tis the only time i could fit it in without collapsing.
hehe, it's great lou, cheers. i think i'm having a bit of a busy weekend too. hopefully find time to watch a race later.
:D
how amazing are those 'cars' posters too? lovely.
am working non stop so i can watch the race
#wantstowatchjensonewin
nice one. have to say cheers to christine too, who's essentially running everything this weekend.
and to pat for the lms thread. *hugs to everyone*
ah wow i had no idea, hundreds of milkybars for Christine then!
*hugs* back
Seconded
*Sidepodhugs*
The F1 Big Picture is stunning!
Build me up, Buttercup. :D
just seen it too, nice one mr gilham.
pfft. I'm more awesomer than he is at taking almost completely out of focus pictures! :)
hehehe.
hehe
This nascar race would be more awesome than F1 if half the field ran in a clockwise direction while the other half ran the race in a counterclockwise direction....
It would also involve a whole lot more debris and complaining...
wooaahhh!!!
Have you ever SEEN a nascar race before? It's impossible to have more debris and complaining :)
#bestdriversintheworldmypatootey
I saw 10 laps of one while getting ready for my graduation nearly 4 years ago. Possibly the only 10 laps of NASCAR to ever have absolutely no debris or complaining...
beat that darren heath?
At least they would have a significiant amount of debris to clean up (not a paper towel) and the complaints might have some merit....
:D
always. i've always argued there are better photogs out there than Darren. :)
zoom in is good on autosport too this week.
i need to get me a subscription..
for example:
Charles Coates: LAT's contract to supply Team Lotus with images allows us great access to capture small details like this that you are rarely seen unless you are in the garage.
however, this is the first race it's been any good. they gave up providing context the first 3 races. much improved for turkey though.
ohhhh!! Mr Coates is a great photographer.
may get it race by race over the summer
You know, Lou, I thought about something the other day. If you're interested in becoming a motorsports photographer, have you ever thought of heading on down to a local go kart track and practicing there? They're almost always having races on the weekends and they're free to get into (at least in the states they are). Thought it might be a good place to practice.
I want to try and do that sometime.... but it's kind of difficult to take pictures with my DSLR while I'm DRIVING the kart :)
yeah i have. I'm gonna try do that this summer, i just need a way of getting there that doesn't depend on my mum... but that's a long story. The moment i get my independence i'll be at brands and buckmore park every second i can get.
in the meantime, i must sleep. night all! xx
Hmmmm, maybe NASCAR could make the race more interesting by having pulsiating floodlights..... be more interesting than a hotel that changes colour....
Night Lou
Point taken :D
Nighty night.
Goodnight!
excellent! Good night.
Night Lou.
hah! I'm not strapping $2k worth of DLSR and lens to a go kart!
We do get some decent videos from the gopro cameras, though: https://www.facebook.com/voltagp?sk=wall
Excellent. That makes me want to go karting. We don't have any tracks around here.
Hire me to design Kai Speedway. It will be modelled (copied) from Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.....
Sounds good. :)
We rent the karts, nice and cheap that way. One guy is building an electric kart (he's an automotive engineer for his day job), and another guy just bought a rolling chassis, I think, but for the most part none of us own our own.
And I saw your tweet earlier that your son had a race today?
Although, after we move to Colorado, perhaps I might get my own....
oh, yes. His first time in a kart! he only wanted to do one race, though, so it may not be his thing. We'll see.
tonight he did say he wanted to do it again... *fingers crossed that he actually does*
That is really cool. The pic was really cute. I like his little mini Hans device thingy.
Sounds good :)
Mini-HANS?
He had one of those collars that you put around your neck under the helmet to protect it. Not a real Hans device, but one we can all afford. :)
Like this

Kai: 08/05/2011 at 02:59:00Hire me to design Kai Speedway. It will be modelled (copied) from Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.....
Sounds good.
Turn 13 will be tight, but critical to not lift or even brake. Think more "Mastra Kink" at the old, old Spa instead of that bush-league "Wall of Champions"....
I know what you mean
it also gives a little bit of support to the helmet and your neck muscles don't have to work as much to keep your head up. At least when you're going fast 'round corners, that is. The track today we went to is really tight and really grippy and hurts like you know what after many fast laps.
Luckily, he's not that fast yet :)
Yeah, I wore those when I did the little things I did. It's amazing how heavy the helmet gets when you have any kind of additional weight.
Soon. :)
Wow! Two Nascar cars got togther and one car's left side skin just got peeled away like the lid of a can that was opened by a can opener.
Strangest thing I have seen in NASCAR !
:D
I'd better get some sleep... ...especially as I've just realised that I've got to redraft a letter tomorrow as well as everything else!
Good night Alia
Night
Sleep time for me, too.
Good night.
Good night
Boy the number of times pit lane crew have been hit by their drivers at teh NASCAR track today I would have sworn Nakajima joined the Winston Cup Series.
Night Ali and Kai.
I am aurprized that there has not been a big crash yet. It looks like they are strating to pretend that they actually are race car drivers....
Night everyone.

Morning all. Early start to do the live text for the rally. Not that the cats are complaining, of course...
Good morning everyone :)
One hour until GP2 race starts :)
FIA has told teams that the DRS will be legal in Monaco. The activation zone would be the main straight.
Good stuff!

Motorsport weekend, woohoo!
I wish it was tomorrow night, I'm already looking forward to Pamela and my post race dinner :D
I thought that after quali yesterday... couldnt wait for the race
now i want my weekend back!
we're going to the Vegie Bar! om nom nom giant plate of roast veges
Sounds great, but i would need a chunk of animal on the plate too :)
I thought that too the first time I went there but they're so amazing I can go without meat for one meal :)
If i wasnt going to the pub later i would be tempted to pick some hot roast veggies up on the way home :)
I think you'd save a lot of money on rent if you just moved into the pub
Aha, i have this covered, tonight im watching football with my mate, his dad and father in law, i pay for very few drinks on these occasions :)
oop, time for more Masterchef. This 6 days a week thing is tough. Back later :)
You have inspired me to go get a bagel... hopefully a healthy one!
Morning lovelies.
Morning Christine, morning commenters
Good morning. Did yesterday happen?
Spa? Yes indeed :)
Hi Alia
Hi Bassano, and thanks :D
Morning all,
I went for the salmon bagel in honor of my fishing exploits
Ooh, how did you get on? Any spear-induced injuries?
Yummy :)
Hello everyone again :)
GP2 race has finished. Anybody has seen it? What a incredible last lap!
I hit a fish but it snapped in half!
We caught 3 between us in about 45 mins
I had a go with a spear gun too... that was scary!
How rude of it!
I kinda felt a bit bad for it
Not being shown till later here
And hi Marti
Ok, then I won't say who won hehe.
Quite interesting... and polemic!
this show really isn't built for me, my mantra is definitely 'why make pastry when i can buy it'
Hi all
Mmmm mexican burrito!
do they do dessert there? I think I want cake to finish :D
Hi Pamela
Breakfast burrito, double yum :)
I think they do have cakes. If not, gelato just over the road!
sold.
Hello :D
Help! Yesterday I updated Spotify, but today I can't open it :S
Christine, did you see this piece in Macworld about Eye-Fi and saving your pictures on the move. It does require a 3G iPad or iPhone but the workflow seems great

Woohoo, in season testing: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/91253
ummm, we blogged about it already?
http://sidepodcast.com/post/the-beautiful-south
I like this. Six days spread across three tests is reasonable, won't break anyone's bank now but still encourage development of cars and drivers alike.
yipppppeeeeeeeeee. doesn't make up for the bahrain thing, but yay for toddy.
Morning guys
Hi Lukeh.
Good morning :)
am working, so not here yet (will pop in for the race) but just need to say something about possible in season testing next year..
wohooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
heh
Ping: http://sidepodcast.com/post/live-turkey-2011-the-race
What are your predictions for today's race?
I've got a friend who's ideal scenario would be Webber running into Vettel, then Alonso may win the race...
:)
My ideal scenario is way too contrived to type here because everyone will fall over laughing if they read it (probably including me!)
:D
Great news, hopefully silverstone will be a chosen venue.
If it actually goes ahead of course
#gettingaheadofhimself
also, maybe a good day for f1 news:
@f1scoop: Mutterings from Brazilian Tele Globo reports Williams will have Renault engines from next season. #F1
williams/renault may be back on the grid and testing might return. am i dreaming?
Ohh that'd be awesome! Especially if Williams stick with the livery. Bit of a nostalgia rush ;)
Barcelona should be in the calendar too hehe.
Maybe Barcelona-Silverstone-Spa? I guess tests would be held in European tracks.
even if it's in Europe it makes the whole 'going to see F1 cars' thing alot cheaper..
Lovely :)
And if I'm not dreaming, then you aren't either ;)
also... jean todt said 'ipad':
@noblef1: Todt confessed to not being too good with technology. "I can hardly send an SMS, so I am amazed by the revolution of the Internet and iPad."
Definitely. Fingers crossed Jean actually gets the teams behind it
does mean cossie might be in trouble though.
points for Heikki, money for me :D
If not Spa, then maybe make it so all new tracks must have a test session the year before the first year in which they have a race (and thereby make the venue rotate)?
Well, there's always, um... Hispania...
Then Russia or the USA would be the option, but I wonder if it's suitable to celebrate a test in America.
Anyway, Bahrain has also held some Test Days and it's quite far away from Europe...
If it makes him feel any better, he's better at technology than my mum :)
Why not? It would be a good "taster" for Americans who are curious about what those folks from Europe want to offer them this time and it could improve ticket sales for the race.
Cosworth's model was based on three teams buying engines. There'll be less money but perhaps it will be easier for it to focus on its remaining customers.
Yes, I agree with you in that way, but I mean that it would be a expensive challenge for teams to bring all their stuff to America just for two days :S
Tie it in with a flyaway - or better still, the Canadian Grand Prix (if the US Grand Prix is not itself going to pair with that race).
Yes, it would be the solution to that.
We'll see :)
What's your pre-race situation?
My TV is switched-off, and I am using Twitter, Google Chat, Autosport and Sidepodcast. Quite stressful.
*TV is switched-on.
My TV is either switched off or running on whatever channel my parents want. I have 2 Autosport tabs up (one going through the F1 picture archive - I'm in early 2003 - and the other on the home page), Google Translate, TV Tropes, Darths & Droids, Twitter, Fisichella Forum (currently writing out a message for a friend), Sidepodcast and the 10-tenths Forum.
Oh, and I've got War of the Worlds - The Spirit of Man on the speakers.
I guess you'll have also a cup of coffee or Red Bull near you hehe.
I am at work, ideas being trown around every which way, and i have a big list of things to do before i can VPNup
I'm still trying to catchup with Masterchef because I started watching it on a delay. Hoping fast forwarding through the adbreaks will get me to the end by the time the BBC starts.
No. No drinks near my computer. Though I'll have some orange-and-lemon squash when I go downstairs for the F1.
Wow!

Morning from sunny Tundraland. What ever you have to say about DRS, there was heck of a lot of battles that lasted more than a few corners today in Turkey, wasn't there?
The way Willimas are going, next year they will have an all-pay drivers line-up....Mal, Sakon Yamamoto again, maybe?
Hey Jordan, come and join us in the Race thread
That was excellent fun as always, off to watch the football now. See you guys later.
What are the lastest rumours on Giggles Radio ? hold hold for sweeps week or canned ?
Not on F1 weekends I believe
No idea about that :S
How nice it is when there's a F1 Grand Prix and I don't have to study for any exam :) Motorsport 100%!
I love this pic. Poor WALL*E
http://instaview.me/66989574/
What are you studying Marti?
I am finishing highschool. At the moment I am 15, so I have to study for two years more until I can (hopefully) go to the university.
Do Spanish students go to University near their home town or move where their course allows them like the UK?
Awww
Hi everybody,
Just back in the door - today is a nice day to go cycling
:)
Well, it depends.
There are lots of Universities here and there, and normally if you don't want to study a very strange thing you don't have to move from your home town.
Anyway, there are a few careers which are only tought in some specifical places.
In my case, the University I want to go to is only 5 minutes away from my house :)
That's handy :)
Yeah! But actually my high school is one hour away from my house.
I will feel the diference :)
ping http://amysrunning.posterous.com/week-7-day-3
now 30 min nap if I actually manage to fall asleep, then tennis :)
Any Mac heads about at the min? I have a question...
I've just finished my article about Todt's decision of bringing back tests to life.
It's quite long hehe.
#nothere
but this if fab
'@ManipeF1 By my count there were 75 passes during the race, excluding first lap and passes made because of pitstops. #F1'
http://twitter.com/#!/ManipeF1/status/67262241501745153
Then it would be the dry-race with more overtakes of the last 20 years! That's a record!
Wassup?
Browsing the Threadless T-shirts again
Favourites so far [in the shopping cart]: Space Capsule, The Milky Way and Bad, Bad Walker
I am drinking with mutants, 3 pints per half a football game!?!
Will they make it to injury time?
They will...
Me?
Just need some advice for an external DVD writer - what's best do you think? I'm running 10.5.8 if that helps
:)
Drinking with the big boys :)
Shouldn't matter
I'd have a browse at http://forums.macrumors.com/
@AllanMcNish: I agree with my wife - Schuey....come back to Sportscars and learn to love racing again
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/91282
Has your writer failed?
cheers
Yep. The internal one's after pretty flimsy and this one has gone a few times over the years
BOO McNish
Sportscars don't need him
Baiting him to Audi? :D Honestly, as much as I want to see MSC win Le Mans, I think it's a long-shot. Then again, I also thought MSC returning to F1 was a long-shot...
I have no idea why he said that
It's quite exciting that regardless of who wins this a ridiculous streak is about to end. That said, go Nole! #tennis
I'd love to see Schuey at least try Le Mans again
Not sure if Mr C said, but we'll be recording the show this evening so if anyone has any thoughts on the race - 0121 28 87225 :)
I had a thought earlier. I will try to find it again
Marvellous.
Are you a Oliver and Benji fan? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViWyvqBbr8A&feature=player_embedded

But with a better laptop ;)
Oh that's a good picture :D
When I went Barcelona's media centre I saw a German photographer who took a big suitcase with him, like if he was going to get on a plane.
Then I saw the camera he took off it... What a monster!

Hello Christine around ?
busy. what do ya want?
Good question.
1) An Enzo Ferrari and that late 1970 four door Ferrari convertible in the driveway would be nice, paid off.
2) A castle with a moat.
3) A billion pounds sterling....
But I will serttle to know when is the deadline for submissions for the F1 debrieft show that I thinkyou guys are doing. ...
Probably about 8pm.
oooh, me too.
And a dungeon that can be converted into a bunker
I've noticed that they aren't generally too quick on posting quite often
Mr C: 08/05/2011 at 18:35:49
You do. It is called "Rockall", isn't You have a whole fricken' Ocean for a moat!
just seems odd. they've just got the story confirmed by charlie. but why wasn't todt's word good enough?
Lukeh guessed right!! http://springfieldpunx.blogspot.com/2011/05/another-doctor-who-week-day-7.html
They didn't predict it, maybe they feel feel defeated
Thanks. looks like it is going to be too tight for me to pull offf. I have to make the movie, then strip away the audio, plus feed my mother lunch for Mother's Day....
as predicted by @willbuxton:
Tyres that will last 6 laps, marbles off line and a bloody DRS zone? Monaco will be carnage. Reckon it'll be over by half distance.
https://twitter.com/#!/willbuxton/status/67280991819005953
:)
They got Charlie to confirm it. I wouldn't believe a word he said
heheh.
Kobayashi to win?
Oh come on, this much carnage and he isn't going to be involved?
:)
He'll leave it in his wake
liuzzi. at the pace he's running, he won't be near enough to another car to get involved.
Nah, he'll be a lap behind Narain.
Maybe an HRT podium though and probably Maldonado 3rd cos of the drive through he'll probably get

It's not safe for me to comment after this many beers!
ted news: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/13327237.stm
ouch @ the button gossip. worth watching, but if you're outside the uk, mclaren engineers say button was "too slow".
Or, to be a bit fairer, they accept it wasn't a great strategy, but also that in the middle stint Button was trying to conserve the tyres when he could have been going faster.
"too slow", those were the words ted said.
:)
And Jenson said they should not have pitted as early as they did on those stints where he was too slow
yup. they could see lewis would easily pass him if he stayed out on that pace, so brought him in.
and again, respect to pirelli, if their tyres provide this kind of racing and benefit the racier strategy over conservatism, i can't see what they've got wrong.
to think we put up with bridgestone's crappy things for so many years.
They are right. Too many stops
Least they're actually listening too and not afraid to make tyres that are durable for the sake of being durable. Bridgestone never seemed to make any comment on how they were working with the sport, instead just turning up with the compounds and it's kind of nice to see Pirelli being more open.
3 stops would've been ideal, i agree.
seconded.
Felt like the only thing we knew of Bridgestone was through Andy Stobbart and even then that was a chummy chat between him and 5 Live, and the only real news was what tyres the teams had.
This year is so much more dynamic, it seems, between DRS and tire use. More variables, more action on track. Yay.
Hello everyone.
Oh i forgot to mention, I watched Despicable Me last night. So fluffy. :D
Although now I want a bunch of minions so badly.

It's not you. It has gone again. I watched the pre-race part of it just over an hour ago so i was there then

I'm trying to work out what this photograph could be from, obviously it's something to do with a tyre (makes such a cool image in the board) but it was on the pit wall? When could it have happened?
Well, time to leave.

Probably safer.
Are you commenting while podcasting again?
Not quite yet, but I might if I can get away with it later :)
oooh that reminds me, voicemail!
:D
It's OK I have already done it but thanks for the reminder
:D
Ping: http://www.f1bigpicture.com/news/cold-turkey
oooh they'e actually sown stuff into the winners caps now. The ones previously all looked like all they had was stickers slapped on
And an Istanbul badge with the Turkish flag
Or as BBC News called it, Istanredbull :D
If there's any Simon Pegg fans around, channel 4 are premiering How to Lose Friends and Alienate People in a few minutes. Haven't seen it before so I've no idea if it's good or bad
It's ok but worth seeing for Pegg
Also, the GP2 sprint race is on Eurosport at 21:30
Gonna give it a go just because he's in it :)
Did it with Run fatboy Run and found that film surprisingly fun. Nothing to write home about but still fun
Evening. Waiting on a Skype call, then I'll be here 'properly' :)
Blimey, harsh. Jenson probably couldn't tell how much to push to not destroy the tyres, Ted says he could've pushed harder to build a time gap but I reckon the drop off afterwards would've been even bigger, the others would've caught him ridiculously quickly. Of course they wouldn't have known that until some way through the race.
Bridgestone were more interested in demonstrating their technical skills in making durable tyres which were still bloody fast, and they were very good at it (so were Michelin). Very different approach from Pirelli, interesting to see them be so willing to do this stuff.
Agreed
5 mins to get any final voicemails in...

(I blog about Franck while Mr C sets things up. This is the life.)

Thanks!! :)
STEVEN!!!!!!
Midweek may not be good for me but I hope several people attend
Sorry Pat. I'm limited by the fact that I'm going to Goodwood over that weekend, then I'll be in Scotland while Silverstone is happening. :( I know it's not good for long distances. I don't do go out at all during the week....unless I'm not in this country...
We'll meet at Goodwood
YAAAY!!
That will be good. Kai & I are planning to go Friday & Saturday.
Now that I've booked the flights I feel like it's more real...and I'm getting excited!
Evening folks
Hi Leigh
Just been talking with my sister about a potential visiting-in-Spain opportunity, unfortunately my plans to turn up this or next month for a weekend have been spoiled by a whole load of people already doing the same! Pesky people planning things in January. ;)
She's sending me a list of dates though to see what's free, so I can check the price of flights. Once that's agreed, things like how many days at Goodwood I can afford and whether I'll do a GP, will fall into place.
Always good to have things solidly confirmed :)
Hi
Good. Yeah, I've been trying to piece things together on my end for a few weeks now. It takes some patience.
hi kai / pat,
how are yee this evening?
Oh my, he's on Twitter now, ought to become a must-follow :)
http://twitter.com/#!/themiltonjones
Off to bed, goodnight all, comment with you tomorrow.
Kai, you have mail :)
night janna
anyone know who's doing tomorrow's daily?
It'll be me for like the last time for a little while...
Fair enough. Mind if I leave you a link?
Very well, thanks. I just booked my trip to the UK in June/July.
How come?
Got it, thank you. :)
good night
Sure
Just to focus more on my revision.
Sweet. I just saw that - will say "hi" when you're in town.
:)
night
Good, inexplicably tired
Oh, righto. Thanks for letting me know!
Cheers - the full race post will be up shortly, so it's just a brief synopsis for now.
http://theformulaoneandmotorsportsarchive.wordpress.com/2011/05/08/2011-turkish-grand-prix-rd-4-may-8th/
:)
Wish I'd been able to talk to her about it earlier, has been hard to get hold of
:)
I would have said in the daily anyway, but yeah....
That can happen with teachers. :(
More notice is always better, but cheers. Will scout around for a replacement :)
Iplayer is still being all stoooopid. What am I supposed to do with the rest of my evening now....
Ping pong is always an option
Sorry.... I sorta only really decided today. But yeah, I'll take into consideration for future times.
By the way, if anyone of the daily writers wants a break in the previous two weeks before the Canadian Grand Prix, I can toss in a guest post....
My wrist band for Snetterton arrived yesterday - travel for Rd 3 of British F3 is sorted. That makes me happy.
:)
I thought you guys were all about the last-minute, a week is loads of time
I Love that guy
http://twitter.com/#!/themiltonjones/status/67227619766185984
Been invited to a hair-washing party. Cant think of an excuse.
:)
I'm planning on staying a few days in the Lake District. Anyone know of good hotels or areas to be in?
Pat: you might wanna look at Vevo HD for the iPad. Sort of a music discovery thing. Not sure how good yet, has potential though
I shouldn't like Jessie J but I do in a cheesy pop way
Ok ta. I don't devote as much time to music discovery as I used to, ought to change that really..
Alison might know something unless the iPlayer is playing ball tonight :)
Might be a bit too poppy but it's free has has decent quality video
Errrm I don't really tbh. I'm more of a day tripper round there.
Where's nice?
If you can recommend any day trips, that's helpful, too.
Shame the iPad speaker isn't great
But it's full of French people :)
[sorry Franck]
I hear places like Middlesbrough and Whitley Bay are lovely places in the Lake District........
Thanks, RG. :)
That's true.
Apologies RG. Just a lot on my plate and it was a surprise :)
Ahem, pinch I'd salt
*of salt
oh, I get the game now...send me to dingy areas. Fun. ;)
The Descent is starting on Film 4
Bassano: 08/05/2011 at 22:59:12
France, I think..... Med Coast if I am not mistaken...
But it's full of French people
[sorry Franck]
Well, you asked "where's Nice?" so I can not help it if it is in France, if you want to go all "Germanic" on me invade the place and see if I care... The place could use a little German effiency if you ask me....
Well Middlesborough is quite a long way from the lake district too tbh :D
If you want a bit of glitz and glamour, there's always London's East End
;)
Obviously I don't have a map in front of me. I can a clueless tourist for this moment.
As a proud North Easterner I take great insult to that comment.
Anyway, they are, a few miles east of the Lakes...
Kai, have a look at York, that might be a good stop off point. It's supposed to be nice
Lots of places are nice. Keswick is a very good day out. You can walk round the lake, feed the ducks (!!! :D) or you can get a ferry half the way if you're tired/wet/lazy
Christine
I have e-mailed you a voicemail as your skype is offline. I assume because you ae recording.
Pie and mash and all that.
Nice down with an olde fashioned sweet shop on the edge of Windermere.
Well, I have no idea what you're talking about, so obviously I didn't mean it.
You guys are really making me work for this on a busy Sunday night for me, huh?
I'll check trip advisor and see what I can find. No worries. Thanks anyway.
That's not the lakes either... You lot are mean!
I know nothing of the area except Coniston Water is where Campbell made his water speed record runs and that you should try Kendal Mint Cake.
I'd like to point out none of my comments are serious. Middlesbrough is a nice place though, people just don't appreciate it.
Ooh, Keswick yes. Maybe Windermere
Thank you!
No. On the way up from London, I mean
Evening.
Is it too late for voicemails?
Bit unfair I reckon, even i'm struggling to keep up :)
Thank you. I didn't know that at first, of course, but luckily the comments have a built in quality control/ b.s. meter.
Thank you :)
I hope not. I just e-mailed mine after the technology chewed up my earlier attempt
Ah yes I said Windermere when I meant Derwent Water. Keswick is a good place to go and I'm sure you'd find somewhere nice to stay there.
Hi Gavin
I think so
Show should be recorded by now. You can always chance your arm, may make the edit
London to York to the Lake District? That is a long way for a short cut. Would be better to just go up the West coast and swap Chester for York. People who like one like the other
It was a general, non-Lakes suggestion
okay, thanks.
Chester is awesome! Highly recommended :)
Thanks
There's other stuff inbetween. Oxford, Stratford Upon Avon, ummm
It's hard for me to think tbh. I haven't been a lot of places since I was small. Do you want to see Roman stuff?
And very close to Wales and Liverpool
Kai do you have something of an itinerary planned out already?
Shakespeare and stuff
Yes. London, Goodwood, work my way up to Scotland via the Lak District, back to London.
That's exactly how the guide book describes it! Uncanny
Where they make Hollyoaks. That's not Shakespeare.
They stole it from me. No-one ever mentioned him before I said that
Just about as understandable though
Sure. I haven't had a chance to really think about and explore what I want to see yet. Sorry. I can ask more specific questions when I've done that.
:)
For Kai: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollyoaks
Sounds good. Driving?
I know a few places in the Dundee area, Arbroath and all that, good driving and walking area. Depends how far up you're going.
Thanks. I was like ?
Bath has the odd Roman trademark left
Well if you want to see Roman ruins/Hadrian's wall, this one is the best http://www.vindolanda.com/
Granted city status in 1590
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bath,_Somerset
In context, unless your British/Roman history isn't up to scratch
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hadrian's_wall
cheers sir! show is recorded, but it's not over until christine has edited it :)
Train up north, maybe flying or taking the train back south. No driving planned. I'd end up on the wrong side, probably.
Well if you get stuck, I'll send my parents to find you :D
It'd be like a Top Gear challenge :)
ooh, thanks.
I can't believe you would make anyone read about that
It was more of a warning
:)
As it should be
Seem ok so far, have heard good things about it too
True! :)
hehe
I have a Hadrian's wall ping! http://mrschristine.com/2010/08/08/h-is-for-hadrians-wall/
#nevermissanopportunity
Giggles would be proud :)
Thank you for your help, everyone. Bad idea for me to ask and eat dinner at the same time. It all ends with a messy keyboard and slow response time.
Wow! hehe
Awwww :( I should have sent you to Vindolanda too! There's dressed up men and like a museum and everything!
i am annoyed that i had to check a fact on this site during recording and loading the page broke logic. it's usually only flash that breaks logic, but this time the facebook widget did it.
i therefore declare facebook the new flash.
That doesn't begin with H!
There is also dressed up men and ruins and museums at Segedunum, in Wallsend. Which is the end... of the wall, too...
Yay, FB dissing. I can get on with that :)
I thought it was full of flash there?
Ah I see are you doing them in order?
i didn't go to facebook. i went to sidepodcast.
Don't know where you're staying for Goodwood but you may want to have a nose around Chichester or use it as a base.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chichester
How was the widget involved?
Yes indeed.
http://mrschristine.com/life-list/the-amazing-a-z-adventure/
Thanks Pat.
The Falkirk Wheel!!! :D
if you go to a page that ISN'T realtime (i know that's a big ask), like this thread, the facebook widget loads in the sidebar.
...don't worry, i'll get giggles to make ya a video ;)
:D
And look what happens!
:)
Breathe
:)
:lol
Oh dear...
Well, I suppose if you've nothing else to do...
I go to the homepage occasionally, I just don't mention it. Realtime gets jealous
Liked that one.
Ooh, I've seen that on TV, looks cool
It's amazing. I'm not into that kind of thing tbh but my dad took me in the boat and it was all very exciting. He likes all that feat of engineering stuff.
I really want to see Joe Cornish's Attack The Block
Catching up on Twitter. If Trulli had no DRS for qualy yet Mike said it'd be fixed for the race, how'd they get around Parc Ferme rules
Ctrl Alt Del?
Called out AA man today, just to see what a man who runs on little batteries looks like.
@themiltonjones
What on Earth..?
So this is the front wing flex rig that isn't up to the job
http://www.formula1.com/wi/sutton/2010/d11tur750.jpg
Who's that?
So pleased to wake up and see that Novak won :D
Formula Renault UK driver
2nd night in a row there's a helicopter circling above
Good job I stayed in :)
Gribblies!
#TheDescent
And this is a guy who I assume is paying a divorce settlement?
3? I was thinking more along the lines of 2 stops.
All with the benefit of hindsight. I suspect the truth is a 50-50 thing: yes, Button could've pushed harder, but the team also got their strategy wrong.
