It is Saturday morning and I am already fifteen minutes late writing this daily post. Oops. Still, this is the first real day of my off-season, and I am determined to enjoy it. What about you? Meanwhile, here are some of the things we're talking about:

  • Yesterday, we featured a little bit of Friday fun, just something to pass the time. Iain came up with a game and it was a great way to pass the day. If you haven't already, let us know what you think you'll never hear drivers say. If you've already had a go, then just wait until next week!
  • There is all kinds of nonsense going on at Force India with the gossip abound that some of the FIF1 intellectual property may have been borrowed or suchlike by the new Lotus team. I can't imagine the proper Lotus name owners will be impressed with such headlines being associated with their brand.
  • As pointed out by Alianora in the comments, Rob Smedley was given an honorary doctorate for his services to F1. Yay for Rob! Teeside University have seen what a great job he's done with Massa and offered him a Doctorate of Professional Studies for his work. I'm not biased about this at all, but it is well deserved.

That's all for now. There is no racing this weekend, which is upsetting for some of those who don't heart the off season like we do here at Sidepodcast Towers. If you spot anyone in distress, offer some support, and I will see you in the comments.

Lotus seem determined to look serious. Well, they're hiring the right people (so far). From f1scoop:

F1's newest team on the grid [Lotus] has hired former Toyota/Williams/Tyrrell man Mark Tatham as chief designer

  • Andy Taylor07/11/2009 at 00:41

    No, that's a real NO.

Someone who was there posted pics (presumably no-one here) of the event on their Flickr page and a few of them contained Mr C.

But I don't want to go opening that can of worms again, so I'd like to end it there if I may.

I thought he was called flully because he's small and 'cute'

I think it mainly comes from my desire to ruffle his hair. But yeah, it's the same basic idea. I'm not sure you get to patronise people who are older than you.... I'm certainly going to try though!

  • Scott Woodwiss07/11/2009 at 01:02

Well, if you're only doing all from all the FFords out there, and one from all the FRenaults out there, that should be relatively easy. The higher up you go, the less there are to choose from...

Yup, just with basic shapes. It's amazing what some people can create just with square, circles and triangles along with other odd and obtuse primitive shapes.

This one might look complicated but really it's all the length and positioning of the lines. Once I've got that, I'm away ;)

did i miss something? lee mckenzie is working for gpupdate?

    http://f1.gpup...f-season-review-2009/

also, slightly weird is gpupdate's concept of exclusive. given the same copy also appears on:

    http://www.lee..._story.asp?pageref=49

I guess they think adding pictures makes it exclusive ;)

  • Nick07/11/2009 at 10:28

    Oh no!! Absolutely not!!!

hehe if alex comes along on monday you may not have a choice :D

It's not that at all. I just find it strange.

  • Nick07/11/2009 at 10:32

It's not that at all. I just find it strange.

I know what you mean... i am not a fan of it, it makes me really self concious... unless other people are more worried about it than me!

  • Alison07/11/2009 at 10:36

I know what you mean... i am not a fan of it, it makes me really self concious... unless other people are more worried about it than me!

You mistake my objection. It's conscientious!

  • Nick07/11/2009 at 10:37

You mistake my objection. It's conscientious!

hehe you might need to explain that!

  • Alison07/11/2009 at 10:39

hehe you might need to explain that!

Yeah. I just don't get it. It's not that I dislike being filmed particularly, it's just. I'm not sure why anyone would want to film me.

  • Nick07/11/2009 at 10:50

Yeah. I just don't get it. It's not that I dislike being filmed particularly, it's just. I'm not sure why anyone would want to film me.

ah.. but isnt that the smae as taking a photo?

You did well on your sidepodradio show :D people listened to that!

  • Alison07/11/2009 at 10:52

You did well on your sidepodradio show :D people listened to that!

I don't sound like that though! At all. I'm really not sure where the Cumbrian accent came from. I have a generic non-accent that could be from more or less anywhere.

  • Nick07/11/2009 at 10:59

I don't sound like that though! At all. I'm really not sure where the Cumbrian accent came from. I have a generic non-accent that could be from more or less anywhere.

    hehe i think the same...

so you have no discernable accent and no picture... finding you in the pub is going to be fun! :D

  • Nick07/11/2009 at 11:03

just to check with jackie (if she reads this) perhaps mr and mrs c or lou will confirm... we are meeting at 9am tomorrow?

  • Alison07/11/2009 at 11:15

so you have no discernable accent and no picture... finding you in the pub is going to be fun! :D

Errrm if you think I'm going to be able to find a mystery pub unaided, I think you've severely misunderstood my navigational talents.

Playing on GRID ps3 and there are some potty mouths playing today.

it's more like dodgem cars than proper racing.

i've never bothered with the "fit as many swears in one sentence as you can" game. someone on the game is though

i like playing with collisions on, but when it becomes a obstacle course, and people are actively trying to halt your fun, you have to turn the collisions off. i've found a suitable f3 race now. or so i think

    Worth Watching?

  • James07/11/2009 at 12:39

    Worth Watching?

Erm no idea I intend on watching though.

    Summary:

Jake Humphrey presents a look back at one of the most eventful seasons in Formula 1 history. Britain's Jenson Button was the star of the show, holding his nerve to clinch the title in Brazil after a mid-season dip in form threatened to derail his great start to the campaign. It was also a memorable season for his team Brawn, who won the constructors' title in their debut year.

There was plenty of drama off the track, from Lewis Hamilton being found guilty of misleading the stewards in Australia to the Renault 'crashgate' scandal and the breakaway threats by the teams, which for a time raised questions about the whole future of the sport.

  • Jon Waldock07/11/2009 at 12:40

    Summary:

sounds alright, but then they are good at making stuff sound good when its not always ;)

if its bbc end of race summary style then ti will be good :D

  • Jon Waldock07/11/2009 at 13:06

  • Amy07/11/2009 at 13:12

it may change as the season goes on and red bull become dominant?

I doubt it. There was epic Jenson love all season, even when he stopped winning anything. I got a little sick of it, and I got a little sick of people saying how much better it was than ITV's Lewis love because I thought they were about equal.

I agree - but TBH as someone who holds a UK passport I didn't mind either way ;)

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:13

Someone make a note of the songs used?

Journeyer did - they are using the same ones...

  • lou07/11/2009 at 13:14

We shall see - can you breathe at the moment lou? Are you recording thuis?

hehe er.. kinda :) and yes... :)

  • James07/11/2009 at 13:14

    ah ok :)

    Well... most of them...

  • Amy07/11/2009 at 13:15

I agree - but TBH as someone who holds a UK passport I didn't mind either way ;)

as a non UK person it seemed like last year you'd get shunned if you liked Lewis, but this year you'll get shunned if you admit you don't like Jenson.

  • James07/11/2009 at 13:15

Wow there was overtaking in Australia :D

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:15

If you can't for some reason let me know and I will try and get you a copy...

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:18

The Lewis lying thing still makes me sick to my stomach ... that was very hard to tell people I am a Lewis fan and try and defend it even though he was completely wrong :(

  • lou07/11/2009 at 13:20

as a non UK person it seemed like last year you'd get shunned if you liked Lewis, but this year you'll get shunned if you admit you don't like Jenson.

i haven't really been a fan of Lewis and alot of f1 fans my dad knows didn't understand why i was supporting Jenson rather than Lewis.. because 'Lewis is obviously better'.. :( this year i've not noticed anything, but that's probably because i support the driver in question...

  • James07/11/2009 at 13:20

    Yay Loonie mention :D

  • lou07/11/2009 at 13:21

    thank you :)

    Oh yeah - Ted news!

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:23

    Oh look a non-British driver after 29 minutes ;)

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:23

Lewis is not obviously better. They are very different drivers. Why do people have to compare the two?

  • lou07/11/2009 at 13:24

Lewis is not obviously better. They are very different drivers. Why do people have to compare the two?

because people see two british drivers racing... one winning and challenging for the championship, the other not.. they never really take into consideration the standards of the car.. ah well ;)

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:26

Well I like them both - and for very different reasons. However I will say that I think Jenson makes a better ambassador for the sport than Lewis does.

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:27

Ah Webber - he must be awesome because even though he's an Aussie I still like him ;)

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:28

    Blah Blah Blah-ing!

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:32

Felipe Baby's accident makes me sick - I felt like May 1st 1994 on that day and people kept asking me why I was so sad!

So four people... wrong time or people aren't bothered?

  • Amy07/11/2009 at 13:41

So four people... wrong time or people aren't bothered?

not bothered. I feel like the season ended too recently to be reminded of it.

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:41

    I slept from 3am until 12pm!

    wow!!!

I am good at sleeping - I sleep on the train to work every morning. Saturday morning is sleep catchup day and I have mild man flu so I think it made me more tired!

  • James07/11/2009 at 13:41

So four people... wrong time or people aren't bothered?

Its just a repeat of everything from this year, including their clips.

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:42

So four people... wrong time or people aren't bothered?

not bothered. I feel like the season ended too recently to be reminded of it.

Normally this sort of show is on at Christmas isn't it?

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:42

So four people... wrong time or people aren't bothered?

Its just a repeat of everything from this year, including their clips.

To me that's too easy - they should have made more effort making new stuff I think.

  • Christine07/11/2009 at 13:42

not bothered. I feel like the season ended too recently to be reminded of it.

    Exactly that.

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:43

not bothered. I feel like the season ended too recently to be reminded of it.

    Exactly that.

So would you have watched it if it was on at Christmas, for example?

  • lou07/11/2009 at 13:43

Normally this sort of show is on at Christmas isn't it?

yeah.. early december? but then again ITV never used to produce these kinda race reviews and clips after each race... i personally don't mind watching them again.

  • Christine07/11/2009 at 13:44

So would you have watched it if it was on at Christmas, for example?

    Probably yes.

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:44

Hey, I'm not saying it's bad - this could be sold as a DVD - but I would have thought it would have been a 'new' programme rather than a remix...

  • James07/11/2009 at 13:45

    Yay happy Rubens :)

  • lou07/11/2009 at 13:45

Hey, I'm not saying it's bad - this could be sold as a DVD - but I would have thought it would have been a 'new' programme rather than a remix...

yeah you have a good point.. for me personally this is just what i needed today :)

and yay that they are using a sigur ros song :)

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:46

What's the song during the points table bit?

  • me07/11/2009 at 13:47

    not bothered.

  • Chris07/11/2009 at 13:47

  • me07/11/2009 at 13:48

    Probably yes.

so long as it wasn't NYD, cause i always had a hangover when itv showed theirs.

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:48

Hopefully next year we won't have a silly shambles with Parc Ferme rules during Qually like we had in Brazil!

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:50

Poor Rubens not winning in Brazil :(

  • lou07/11/2009 at 13:52

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:54

...And I've got to stop, because I've got a lump in my throat ;)

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:55

I've just realised I'm live commenting as if it were a race weekend. Apologises if it's a bit too much!

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:56

Oooh I love this Florence and the Machine song!

  • me07/11/2009 at 13:56

  • Jon Waldock07/11/2009 at 13:56

...And I've got to stop, because I've got a lump in my throat ;)

Watching one of the races the other day, i was sitting there thinking "im really looking forward to hearing the british nat anthem" and then realised that it was red bull, and although they are based in england, they are austrian. booooo

  • RG07/11/2009 at 13:56

I forgot Kubica crashed with Trulli in China. Aaaaaaages ago.

Was it worth watching? Like, the first 54 minutes?

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 13:57

I forgot Kubica crashed with Trulli in China. Aaaaaaages ago.

Was it worth watching? Like, the first 54 minutes?

Well I thought it was very good and worth watching - however it's basically a remix of the BBC clips during the season.

  • lou07/11/2009 at 14:10

okay i have much work to get done, so i'll be back later..... see ya! x

  • RG07/11/2009 at 14:12

    damn you :)

any idea what the weather will be doing tomorrow?

  • Scott Woodwiss07/11/2009 at 14:33

    ccol. why?

They ran a couple of competitions - one where you had to post a playlist of 10 driving songs, and the other where you had to send them proof that you'd pre-ordered the game. Plus, just because I'm on VIP status as I have the collectors edition of the game, they gave all of us another two free cars as well. :D

Oh and it was everyone that entered both those comps that got the cars, not just certain people.

  • Jon Waldock07/11/2009 at 14:34

    :(

ooh actually, it may be ok. i should read the stats rather than look at the pictures

  • Christine07/11/2009 at 14:34

  • Scott Woodwiss07/11/2009 at 14:36

    Ooh, driving songs.

Yeah, it's a comp they did with Zune HD to try and compile a playlist. Anyone who just posted 10 songs they thought were good driving songs got the free Audi A4 DTM, which is dark grey with multicoloured stripes and such. Nice design, actually.

  • Scott Woodwiss07/11/2009 at 14:37

  • guille2306 (back in Bariloche)07/11/2009 at 15:50

    Hello! How's guille?

actually, very upset. I've just come from the rally (or should I say 'pseudo rally'?), after 4 hours of wait in the cold and the wind to see only 13 cars once, because a coward has decided that his small chances of winning the championship where more important than a couple of thousand of people waiting in the road :-(

  • guille2306 (back in Bariloche)07/11/2009 at 16:16

    what? whats happened?

The 1st and 3rd specials of the day were going to be run in a very fast (and beautiful :-) ) asphalt road. The place is a typical tourist circuit in Bariloche, in the woods, with many turns (both open and tight), sometimes at the border of a lake. In short, there was a lot of excitement for those specials, not less because it was going to be the first asphalt specials in the history of the rally (always run in gravel as most of this edition). Needless to say, there was a lot of people there, many of them since 6 or 7 in the morning, with 3 or 4 ºC and wind.

First pass and nobody can say that it wasn't up to the expectations. It was marvellous, the cars going from one side to the other of the road, most of the time flat out. Unfortunately, the 14th car went slightly out of the road and crashed two cars parked. Nothing serious, he just lost his back bumper, but that prompted the cancellation of the special. Fair enough.

Second pass, the 000, 00 and 0 cars go through the road; but the first racing car never appears. After a few minutes the radio gives details: the special wasn't going to be re-run. It was raining (slightly) in the first km of the 8km special (sunny and dry in the rest), and some drivers had requested to cancel it for security reasons (nobody had rain tyres although Bariloche is known for its rainy springs!). And who was the leader of the revolt? None other than the guy who is running second in the championship and was seeing his possibilities come to zero after the guy in front had taken from him 10s in the first two specials, 6 of them in the one they were cancelling. To put it mildly, the local organization of the rally and the fans are not happy with this guy (and more because the probable champion is from here).

The funny thing is that this 'driver' that claims security reasons is Federico Villagra, who you must know from his WRC outings this year. For me (and probably half Bariloche) he has lost all the respect that had gained during the WRC races.

  • Pat W07/11/2009 at 16:17

    hopefully, depressed weeks until testing

I've been a bit down this week but I don't know if that was end-of-season blues or something else. Anyway you can't feel bad until next weekend, that's when the next GP would have been.

  • Pat W07/11/2009 at 16:20

Fair enough although I'd have just moved the cars..

Tactics then? Pfft. If it was fine and safe to run, they should have done so.

I haven't really thought about them i guess, i only planned on doing 1 american series but i will put it on the list. The worst that can happen is they'll say no

  • Pat W07/11/2009 at 17:16

only went once, but it was a lot of fun. gillett has a lot to answer for,

I've been to Donington three times for BTCC. Great place to just wander around from vantage point to vantage point, some bits up close, some bits giving a wider view. It needed modernising but now it may have been ruined.

  • Janna07/11/2009 at 17:16

Hello all, hope everyone is OK. Just wanted to let people in the UK know this month is Will Aid which you can read about at http://www.willaid.org.uk/ Basically, you go to a solicitor to make a will, the solicitor gives their time for free & you then give a contribution to Will Aid who divide it up between the charities they support. The site will let you know if there is a participating solicitor in your area. I think that everyone over 18 should have a will, it makes dealing with an estate much easier at a very difficult time, even if you don't think you have anything to leave.

  • Pat W07/11/2009 at 17:18

I haven't really thought about them i guess, i only planned on doing 1 american series but i will put it on the list. The worst that can happen is they'll say no

I don't know much about them but they seem an interesting alternative for those looking to get to Lights/IndyCar.

  • Jon Waldock07/11/2009 at 17:19

I don't know much about them but they seem an interesting alternative for those looking to get to Lights/IndyCar.

yeah, i'd only really heard of atlantics before Christo won Star Mazda, and then someone posted a link to a Lights driver...

it's something i'd like to learn about, my knowledge of american racing is terrible

  • Pat W07/11/2009 at 17:20

I think that everyone over 18 should have a will, it makes dealing with an estate much easier at a very difficult time, even if you don't think you have anything to leave.

I completely agree, I had one made up recently because a company had some sort of offer on.

  • Pat W07/11/2009 at 17:23

it's something i'd like to learn about, my knowledge of american racing is terrible

I can't say I've paid attention to anything other than IndyCar. I tried to dip into Lights this year. It doesn't help that Atlantics was very closely aligned with Champ Car. Frankly its amazing it managed to keep going since CC died. This year it had no TV and no publicity to speak of which is ridiculous given how long it has been running. Read www.openwheelworld.net.

So would you have watched it if it was on at Christmas, for example?

    Probably yes.

so long as it wasn't NYD, cause i always had a hangover when itv showed theirs.

Ahh that'll be why I always missed it :-)

  • Pat W07/11/2009 at 17:40

Who here is watching the F1 review?

I did and I enjoyed it, which I was surprised about given the title. Yes it was JB-led but you had to expect that, just as you had to expect ITV's to be Lewis-led last year. The difference seemed to be that the BBC (eventually) got around to talking to and about some other drivers.

They forgot Force India's quick spell though.

    hahaha, how ironic!

After our first official one (i.e set off by the uni not people around here), we got told that we all had to be out in 2.5 minutes, and it had taken 6 so lots of us would probably have been dead

  • Jon Waldock07/11/2009 at 18:12

I need some help for any sim racers out there.

We're running a fastest lap competition at the university, so someone pays £1 to do 3 laps and we record their fastest and give them a prize.

So we need a ps3 game (we'll probably hire it from Blockbusters or somewhere) but i need to know the best game for it...

One that we can set to a test run and then just let the people run the laps and then we take whatever it says the fastest is. I guess that most do, but anyhelp would be appreciated?

  • Pat W07/11/2009 at 18:15

i've stayed indoors all day (apart from a brief 2 minutes outside because of a fire alarm)

Squeeze out at least £40 quid for that.

Honestly, £40 is leniant. I'd go for £50 and the new F1 game.

  • Lukeh07/11/2009 at 18:35

Bye people, I won't be using the Internet for a whole week (this is for a bet

    OH!

yeah that one. i just got back from the shops - i moved into my apartment about 36 hours ago so had to do the setup shopping experience. lots more to go but taking a lunch break and don't have a tv and felt like watching sport on a weekend lunch break and found this.

:) that would never work. i would never watch. i don't like violence, but when it happens on the field, then sometimes it's different!

i plan to go see the Boston Bruins play ice hockey soon. Saw the Celtics lose last night - I am such a local already.

  • The Boston Red Scott07/11/2009 at 18:52

not sure. was chatting with an american girl last night who caught herself watching N once. and accidently enjoying it.

do you ever go watch? i used to watch icce hockey in australia - i had this great spot right about the goal. and it was free because it was inside a shopping centre and you can stand at the top of the escalators. then they changed the design and you couldn't see for free :( the seats inside were not as good as the free spot over the goal. very abu dhabi :)

    I'm incapable of making decisions.

My sister is now staying somewhere else. This means I can go home (15min drive), but I'd have to come back in the morning to feed the cats. I am trying to work out if I can be bothered to move, bearing in mind all the interesting stuff is at home.

read, and commented. I salute you. I remember the times when I didn't go onto sidepodcast for the race (Brazil...) and it felt...empty. I had no one to talk about the race with. But now I have! Yay!

  • Scott Woodwiss07/11/2009 at 20:20

    i did.

    Aha, right then.

Only decent racers I can think of on PS3 are GT5 Prologue and F1 Championship Edition.

Of course, if you were going to use a 360... ;)

I was strangely excited because I had no idea what was going on and it was a very eventful weekend. I did miss sidepodcast though...eventually ;)

Fraid not. The uni only has Ps3's and Wii's and they are free to hire, so we're gonna stick with them

yeah. None of my friends or family like F1 like I do, so finding the comments have made my f1 'experience' much better.

you think you have it bad?

my lecturer for "Applications of sport science to MOTORSPORT" thought that the grid positions were drawn out of a hat, she had no idea that qualifying existed!!

  • Scott Woodwiss07/11/2009 at 20:25

Same day as Left 4 Dead 2 and Assassins Creed 2...

Don't forget COD: Modern Warfare 2. I didn't think about having a look at it but after seeing the trailer, my god it looks good. There's even missions in space on this one!

  • Lewis/LB2207/11/2009 at 20:25

Personally I like the Modern Warfare side of COD rather than the whole WW1/WW2 games. That period in history is so overused in FPS games it's not even funny any more.

  • Lukeh07/11/2009 at 20:29

Personally I like the Modern Warfare side of COD rather than the whole WW1/WW2 games. That period in history is so overused in FPS games it's not even funny any more.

Hehe, tell me about it. MW1 had a superb campaign mode but I didn't get into the online at all. Whilst Mw2 does look like a polished experience, there's nothing about it that makes me want to rush out and buy it immediately like everyone else I know and the apparently 6 million worldwide preorders that it has! I'll just wait for a while before I get it

  • RG07/11/2009 at 20:29

my lecturer for "Applications of sport science to MOTORSPORT" thought that the grid positions were drawn out of a hat, she had no idea that qualifying existed!!

    I like that idea

'Pole position, Jaime Alguesuari. Second place, Kazuki Nakajima....Eighteenth, Kamui Kobayashi, Nineteenth, Lewis Hamilton'

  • Scott Woodwiss07/11/2009 at 20:29

Personally I like the Modern Warfare side of COD rather than the whole WW1/WW2 games. That period in history is so overused in FPS games it's not even funny any more.

That's exactly the reason why I didn't go for COD: World at War and stuck with COD 4. To me it was just another World War game.

  • Jon Waldock07/11/2009 at 20:30

'Pole position, Jaime Alguesuari. Second place, Kazuki Nakajima....Eighteenth, Kamui Kobayashi, Nineteenth, Lewis Hamilton'

it would make it more interesting granted. but the idea that the simplest of simple things to do with motorsport, that my lecturer dosent know, just adds to my dislike of it

    #sidepodspace

I saw a comment earlier on about space rocks not being tracked. NASA instead seem to be tracking tiny pieces of debris that are no harm to us down here but are hazardous to the ISS crew. Tough choice I suppose. Find big rocks that could wipe out life on the planet or track 5cm pieces of metal that could never reach the ground

  • Steven Roy07/11/2009 at 21:42

Hey guys. Need to de stress!

  • Steven Roy07/11/2009 at 21:50

Ah that thing. Still don't understand why he got so mad!

Leo goes out of his way to maintain his integrity and independence. He has turned down advertising from Microsoft and Apple so that no-one can suggest his reviews are influenced. He was given a review model for a couple of weeks and after spending years building his integrity some pillock who Leo was probably paying to be on the show said that the only reason he was saying he liked the phone because he had beeng loaned it.

Clearly there was some tension between them before and this was just the tipping point.

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 21:51

Ferrari has always been on the FIA side in all disputes until the past year or so. They have had all sorts of special deals over the years so it would be no surprise if they screwed over the other teams as they have done many times in the past. In the end it depends what Domenicali is really made of.

    Nice one.

Even AUTOSPORT had a go it him in their review of the BBC coverage. You know it's bad when they put something like "Legard doesn't get it" in there.

    haha.

    im fully sober. scarily

I hear you have fire alarm issues. When I moved into my apartment a few years ago it was a new building and had teething problems. We kept getting evacuated at 1 in the morning and the Firemen told us that they couldn't turn off the alarm so they told us they disconnected it. Needless to say, when the firemen wished us to sleep well, I was too scared to sleep!

Scary story coming up. Some idiot in my first halls of residence at university decided to microwave a trainer at 4am. Cue smoke from the 3rd floor kitchen window, mass panic as the fire alarms in ALL buildings went off and everybody congregated and looked open-mouthed at the smoke coming out of the window. Me, nearly calm as a coma thanks to the strong Scotch whisky I'd had not long ago, rang the fire service, asked them to make sure they had the necessary gear to get up 4 floors, and within 5 minutes, the clueless warden on duty had opened the gates, everybody piled out of the way, and about 20 minutes later, the charred remains of a microwave had made their way to the pavement for all to see. The only concern of my friend who lived next door to that flat was whether there would be any damage from the smoke. I had to assure her nothing would have happened as it gets contained very quickly.

Over the next couple of months, the entire flat in question received a bill for £2000 to refit the gutted kitchen, and since nobody owned up to it, they wouldn't get their deposit back. Needless to say, they were fuming.

    No pun intended!

tell that to all the people who've died in fires. ok so you cant, but my point still stands.

the likelihood is low, but the fire alarm is there for those 1 in a million times. oh and for when you burn the toast

  • Journeyer07/11/2009 at 23:37

In terms of genuine risk though it is much lower than many things that people don't worry about. Gavin said he was too scared to sleep without an alarm but I bet he does all sorts of other more dangerous things withut worrying about them.

Google Chrome isn't the best thing to use on the wiki I'm afraid. I'd suggest Firefox or I think IE will be the best to work on the site. I don't know if you can click on a column and use one of the arrows to add a new column

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)07/11/2009 at 23:58
