It's Friday at last, and that means we're heading into another weekend. We know that Jon is busy this weekend, and will most likely return sans voice, but what are you up to? Let us know. Meanwhile, here are some of the things we're talking about:

  • Peter Sauber is not at all happy with BMW and their decision to essentially stop him buying the team. We've covered this in F1 Minute, and F1 Big Picture as well, but Sauber says this is the worst time in his entire motorsport career history. That is pretty bad!
  • Mr Brawn has admitted that he can totally see Schumacher winning at some point in this season, if not at Valencia. The Ferrari appears to be on the way up, and Ross knows how the man works, I guess.
  • Yesterday, Whitmarsh has said they aren't giving up on this year's car. Having won their first victory of the year, McLaren are going to keep on developing, and are hoping that this car will be the basis of next year's as well. It better had be, or they'll just repeat this year again, won't they?

That'll do it for now, I reckon. Don't forget to let us know if you have exciting plans for the weekend, and equally if you're not. I'll see you in the comments.

    Hey Mr C

    What's the latest?

  • Paul06/08/2009 at 23:55

Why do you want that? You should concentrate on the swimming

I used to sing to myself.

I know what you mean, but I think you are better off without the music. Not sure how you could make that work anyway, unless you have ear plugs under a cap or something.

  • Steven Roy06/08/2009 at 23:58

Surely the gadget show will have tested them at some time. Sounds like their kind of thing

    Look's like there is

What about a waterproof armband & headphones for your player?

    Shown here

The gym machines all have iplayer on them, i dont think it would be unreasonable to tun the whole pool into an lcd screen as well?

  • Nick06/08/2009 at 23:59

Only if it can keep up ;)

Some places actually pipe music into the pool. Of course you mostly end up with "easy listening". Rod Stewart anyone?

I have seensomone using one, you just clip it on the back of your googles and have the wires coiled up.

However aparently the earphones are a bit annoying...

So i am loking at amazon and debating how relaiable the reviews are when i come accross this gem

This is the most useless product ever, it only lets you listen to the instramentals of a song and does not enable you to actually listen to any vocals, which is absolutely pointless.

    how odd...

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 00:07

    http://fwd.five.tv/gadgets/audio-video/portable-audio-video?page=4

The gadget show has tried at least a couple of waterproof mp3 players.

  • Paul07/08/2009 at 00:08

So i am loking at amazon and debating how relaiable the reviews are when i come accross this gem

Huh? Surely if they are MP3, it doesn't matter?

  • Bassano Clapper07/08/2009 at 00:09

Some of the Amazon feedback comments are a bit 'wtf?' :)

ah cheers, cant seem to get any videos, but they have some descriptions of the ones i have been looking at... nothing comes cheap though!

  • Bassano Clapper07/08/2009 at 00:10

    And the furry boots?

  • Nick07/08/2009 at 00:10

Huh? Surely if they are MP3, it doesn't matter?

this is a hightech device, it clearly analyses the audio and filters out any vocals... might make podcasts a bit dull though!

  • Nick07/08/2009 at 00:11

    There's pink too

  • Nick07/08/2009 at 00:13

How long are your swimming sessions?

I havent started yet, so it will depend on my fitness...

When i was a teenager i used to do 2 hours 3 times a week....

up and down... up and down... we didnt have music back then mind, we had it rough!

  • Nick07/08/2009 at 00:14

I read an article about the Nike + ipod. Apparently for most people, if they get past 5 runs, they normally keep it up. Might be the same for swimming.

You need a target to aim for. You could sign up for a sidepodradio show to talk about your return to exercise. That way you will be motivated to be up to speed by then.

  • Bassano Clapper07/08/2009 at 01:00

Not a massive fan of that one but it was popular, to put it mildly

  • Paul07/08/2009 at 01:00

    and home alone

Oh dear. I was looking so good up 'til then.

  • me07/08/2009 at 01:00

Between orfor when things go wrong. Which won't happen.

I havent really herd of him either, but they were saying what a big loss it was to the world of film on the radio as i was driving home tonight, I have seen ferris Bueller's day off and love that film, i might have seen some of the others mentioned, cant really remember... has he done any recent projects?

  • Paul07/08/2009 at 01:05

You can put it just below Maverick's Sidepodanory.

I'll have to work something out, that isn't completely boring. Maybe something about track days.

  • Bassano Clapper07/08/2009 at 01:05

    3 drummers?

Yep - you had to hear (and see) it to believe it.

Three drummers, 4 singers, 1 harmonica.

  • Paul07/08/2009 at 01:26

    3 drummers?

If you get the chance some time, try to find "Hungry Town" by Big Pig, gives you some idea of the sound.

before i go, a last word from joe on bmw:

I read that earlier, poor Peter Sauber (& the guys at the team)

I hope he finds a way to sort it out

  • Paul07/08/2009 at 01:36

Oh, you're right, it was too. Get's him out of the one-hit-wonder camp.

I wonder if BMW's decision last year to concentrate on 2009, now stands as the second must stupid decision in F1, behind Honda's pull-out with such a great car in the works.

It does kinda prove Max's point about Manufacturer's invlovement in F1

I hate to say that but...

Surely Ferrari going to war with the FIA when the FIA were letting them write the rules must be the stupidest

  • Paul07/08/2009 at 01:45

Surely Ferrari going to war with the FIA when the FIA were letting them write the rules must be the stupidest

Maybe, although less obvious than the other two.

and yes, I guess Max has a point.

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 01:46

It does kinda prove Max's point about Manufacturer's invlovement in F1

But everyone said this would happen when Max initially announced his plans to get manufacturers involved in team ownership. What has happened does not prove him right it simple means that he now knows what the rest of us knew from day one.

the talk of my slippers makes me wish i was wearing them now. Perhaps i should buy a pair for the office. To answer other questions yes i got the tickets and i also found someone who wants my spare one. The chocolate milk doesnt smell, yet. Fingers crossed it stays that way. The gap is where i keep my guitar hero controllers so i put them back on top of a layer of towels. Shall remove towels tonight.

From tweetdeck? That's impressive. Couldn't have possibly been a butt-tweet. Unless you sat on your laptop or something.

  • Lukeh07/08/2009 at 08:19

Morning Christine. How are you today?

    Sleeptweeting?

I dunno! I'm a little freaked out by that as I was definitely asleep...!

Tired. I didn't sleep well. I didn't tweet in my sleep though, so things are good :)

Tired. I didn't sleep well. I didn't tweet in my sleep though, so things are good :)

Good to hear your day so far is at least a lot less mysterious :P

All I can think of is I left my laptop on and just fell asleep kicking the keyboard or rolling over it or whatever.Perhaps it got left on for such an amount of time that it automatically shut down to save energy? I always start up gmail, SPC and tweetdeck when I load up my laptop every time so... I dunno. I really can't explain it. :S

It makes sense as a tweet though. Spelling is a bit off, but if your feet can form sentences in your sleep, you might want to think about joining the circus!

  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 08:28

i heard if you bought several of them they tend to chat amongst themselves, but they don't half make some funny noises.

  • me07/08/2009 at 09:02

Ha! Not a chance. Podcasting + babies do not mix.

one person making inappropriate noises at inappropriate times is more than enough...

  • Christine07/08/2009 at 09:04

one person making inappropriate noises at inappropriate times is more than enough...

Indeed. The noise children make from a completely different level of the building... imagine what it would be like inside our own home!

  • Journeyer07/08/2009 at 09:07

Local colleges. We're near the equator, remember. :D

anyway, who 's baby is that, on drop.io ?

  • Amy07/08/2009 at 09:08

I'd vote the Andy + LPG guess was a good one.

Well I exist so they had children eventually, but it was 9 long years and hundreds of thousands of "when are you having kids" questions later :D

heheh no! They finally sold it last year and they said it hurt more than selling one of us would because they'd had it for longer :D

You should have said that before. Then we could have agreed that it would be harder to sell than a child! ;)

Thats what you get for moving to the seaside, apparently old cars don't like salt-watery air. Children on the other hand quite enjoy the seaside :D

  • Scott Woodwiss07/08/2009 at 09:49

This talk of Jon's circuit radio duties at Snetterton has reminded me that the guy who runs the circuit is looking for a new Clerk of the Course for next year and my dad has been put forward for it :D

  • lou07/08/2009 at 09:49

morning :D how was Jenson on the radio this morn?

i was confused as to why he was on the radio at first... i didn't get to hear much unfortunately, my instructor turned up early..

  • Amy07/08/2009 at 10:21

    heidfeld to dtm then?

he is not allowed to leave F1 until he wins at least once. Poor Nick. Poor, winless Nick.

Morning all! Wow thats a nice car!

Morning all! Wow thats a nice car!

    better than amy, apparently.

  • Nick07/08/2009 at 10:24

I need a device invented which stops my mouse closing all my windows when it falls on the floor, that was my 2nd attempt at saying hello!

  • Nick07/08/2009 at 10:26

    better than amy, apparently.

Perhaps if Amy sat in the car it would solve any potential rivalry for affections...

  • Lukeh07/08/2009 at 10:27

    Oh dear England. 16-2 already...

  • Amy07/08/2009 at 10:28

    be safe out there.

  • lou07/08/2009 at 10:34

    Oh dear England. 16-2 already...

i don't even know what that means! :( i try with cricket.. i really try... but i just don't get it. i can sit and watch it, or play it, but i always need someone to explain the scoring..

  • Scott Woodwiss07/08/2009 at 10:34

    be safe out there.

It seems to be a trend that's catching on. Inevitably #IBlameSteven.

  • Scott Woodwiss07/08/2009 at 10:36

Got paid today as I do this time every week, so methinks I shall do some spending on my day off. I need a lightweight waterproof jacket for a start.

  • Lukeh07/08/2009 at 10:36

    Hehe, aww :)

Cricket makes itself out to be more confusing than it is to be fair. Once you understand the innings and whatnot it's easier but I can see why it'd be confusing. But I agree, it's easier to just play and watch than go on about explaining innings and wickets and the likes :P

  • Paul07/08/2009 at 10:36

Speaking of scary - just watching the FIA GT, and JV is racing a Mosler

  • Scott Woodwiss07/08/2009 at 10:37

It means something like 2 batsmen have been caught out and between them at that point, they had scored 16 runs. That's not good.

  • lou07/08/2009 at 10:38

they should just play rounders or something.. it's much easier to understand.

  • Nick07/08/2009 at 10:40

they should just play rounders or something.. it's much easier to understand.

    I dont understand rounders.

I can do cricket, baseball and softball, but i really dont understand rounders.

the bat is tiny and you seem to have to hit the ball miles as you arent allowed to stop on the bases?

  • Paul07/08/2009 at 10:40

Stephane Ratel looks like a playboy

  • lou07/08/2009 at 10:41

no i get that... it's the scoring i don't get... therefore rounders i easier to understand :)

I get ODIs, I get Twenty-20 (or is it 20-Twenty?) but I don't get tests. I don't get why they play for days and THERES NEVER A WINNER ITS ALWAYS A DRAW. I get a little angry.

  • Lukeh07/08/2009 at 10:41

Oooh.. Rob Dougan's album Furious Angels just came thorough the post. Excellent. :)

OK, basic cricket part 1 :P

You run, you get 1 run.

Hit it over the rope without bouncing 6 runs

hit it over the rope rolling or bouncing on the way 4 runs.

I won't have my phone. I'll have stacks of paperwork for the upcoming changeover, possible boxes of [insert frozen food here] and my patience in a stress ball from shopping day customers. Boo to all of that :P

you need to watch Heikki play cricket again where they explain that the further away you hit it, the better :D

What does that mean? 12:34:56 on 07-08-09.

The world didn't end here in Aust when the clock ticked over, so I assume you'll be safe as well. Anyone need a slightly used tin foil hat and bunker?

  • RG07/08/2009 at 11:29

i still have no idea what your saying!... but it doesn't sound good..

Basically, if the score after the dash is higher than 5, and the score on the left is in two figures, we are doing bad.

  • Lukeh07/08/2009 at 11:29

i still have no idea what your saying!... but it doesn't sound good..

Hehehe, it's very very bad for England.

Basically 42 runs scored with 4 men out (of 11). The first few people, when you're batting, are usually the better batsmen in the team. England are losing all their good batters, who should've been going for at leats 50 runs each between them. They should've at least got 100 runs before losing the first two men.

At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if they don't reach 100 runs before they lose all their wickets (before everyone batting is out).

They probably didn't help... but... still :P

  • lou07/08/2009 at 11:30

If I say "Go Australia", will it come back to haunt me? (I don't read the comments that often anymore, so I'll miss it if you say it :P )

  • Lukeh07/08/2009 at 11:32

    oh. :(

That also is very bad because Australia are veeeeery strong in terms of batting.

  • Jeremy07/08/2009 at 11:34

They are a lot better than they used to be, broad is a future bowling all rounder. Swans good, Anderson is gritty.

Chance of that happening though, 1 in 10000000000000000000000000000

  • Lukeh07/08/2009 at 12:08

And Most Definitely NOT Michael. Or Ralf.

Pete Wentz said something about having to chose a name that he could grow up to be a rockstar, or a president, and it would fit both. But then he went and called his son Bronx Mowgli, so clearly he didn't take his own advice.

This is why I like Brock so much. To me it is such a strong name which works in any situation. Everyone I suggest it to says its bad. Boo to everyone.

  • Jeremy07/08/2009 at 12:53

I swear I must've done something to someone on here in previous life, is it just a case of hammer RCC whenever he's online.

Have I said something about someones fav driver on here something?

instead i chose not to highlight it, and carried quietly on without pointing you out in front of everybody.

Because me posting a link to WIKIPEDIA a family friendly website is inappropriate...

It might not be personal but It feels like it, can't seem to do anything right on these boards. How many times recently have you had a go/removed/or ignored anything I say without anykinda of explanination. I think yr going way OTT on the PC stuff.

    Forget it

as i said earlier, some wikipedia linking is fine. we specifically rewrote the moderation filter to allow it in fact. the site wasn't the issue, the specific was.

fair enough, however, we are pretty open about it upfront. you don't have to agree with it, but you can't say you didn't know?

bound to be the keyboards fault and not the lack of using preview.

Hi Mike. Sorry about the 'Chris H' joke that you may not be aware of.

The way this site is run can be frustrating (for some) but I accept it for what it is. There's no point getting high blood pressure over what happens in this wonderful community.

Please continue to comment here. I, for one, value the comments from all visitors.

  • Zoe07/08/2009 at 13:23

You'd think it wouldn't be so tricky. There are 3 billion boys out there, how hard can it be to pick a name? I don't even have kids and I struggle.

  • Sean Golding07/08/2009 at 13:23

Current line of thinking involves TLAs that can change by using names like William (can be Bill) etc. TWA ( time wasting annoyance) becomes TBA (to be announced)!

So, I just googled how to cure a headache and came up with this gem:

Take a lime, cut in in half, and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away.

Anyone ever tried that? I would be worried people might think I've had a bacardi with it.

  • Amy07/08/2009 at 13:55

Anyone ever tried that? I would be worried people might think I've had a bacardi with it.

if it doesn't work you could pass the time trying to lick your forehead. Mmm. Lime.

  • Christine07/08/2009 at 13:56

  • me07/08/2009 at 13:59

That can't be the solution to all life's ailments, can it?

possibly not. life would be less stressful though.

  • Amy07/08/2009 at 13:59

That can't be the solution to all life's ailments, can it?

I'd be willing to give it a go. Preferably one of the Spanish ones.

  • lou07/08/2009 at 14:06

never tried that before.. i stick to drinking loads of water, and if i have to take a painkiller of some kind.

  • Christine07/08/2009 at 14:13

never tried that before.. i stick to drinking loads of water, and if i have to take a painkiller of some kind.

Agreed. Sadly, I don't have a handy lime nearby, and if I was heading to the shops I'd go for the chemist rather than the greengrocer :)

  • lou07/08/2009 at 14:14

Agreed. Sadly, I don't have a handy lime nearby, and if I was heading to the shops I'd go for the chemist rather than the greengrocer :)

Sounds to me like a distraction cure. You will no longer notice the headache because the citric acid will run down your forehead and make your eyes burn.

I think I have a better headache cure for Christine.

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 14:25

Oooh. How do I get a job making videos about pandas for a living?

    Pandapodcast

Start off doing your own thing at home and eventually lots of people will find out about you and you can become famous for singing panda baby. If only you had a panda to practise with. You may need to start with a man in a panda suit.

  • me07/08/2009 at 14:27

You may need to start with a man in a panda suit.

i am not being tickled like that for noone.

Then you will have to let me have one.

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 14:30

    Re: comment 550 and 554

I, too, occasionally struggle with feelings of exclusion. When this happens, I try to remember two things:

    1. this is a fast-paced, text-based medium. Text is not good at transmitting my personality nuances and what I write might be misinterpreted. Also, sometimes the comments are flying and my transmission can be missed before the community is on to the next.

    2. this is an intercultural community. Sure, we're united by language and a love of F1, and sometimes I forget that we're not all coming from the same place, figuratively and literally. Cultural nuances don't travel well through text, either.

I've enjoyed meeting people here and think that the internet provides an amazing opportunity to get to know people from all over the world. This was my reason for suggesting "Travels in Sidepodland" for sidepodradio -- bring some recognition to the fact that we're from all over the planet (six continents are represented in the sign-up table!) and get to know people better. I'd like to get to know people here better, and I'm enjoying connecting with people on other platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.

Anyway, I've been thinking about this all morning, and I have no idea where it's going to pop into the conversation, so I hope it is received in the spirit of community and intercultural communications. Cheers.

    Don't say it like that.

All I want to do is have a baby panda to look at and cuddle and then give it back when it is not cute anymore.

You make it sound silly the way you say it.

  • Amy07/08/2009 at 14:37

not when wife wants to illegally import a living animal.

if F1 has taught me anything, rules mean nothing.

I sincerely hope there isn’t an ‘in-crowd’ on Sidepodcast. I’ve always thought the community have been very welcoming to new people. I’m disappointed to read things like this, especially from someone who’s been featured as a guest writer, with an excellent post.

It feels like there is sometimes, It's the same usual people during the day and for people like me who don't have the same free time sometimes to sit and comment for hours etc it can be very hard to get involved in the discussions.

Sometimes I think because I may only be able to drop a post or two in daily I wonder if some of the more regular/daily posters just think there's no point responding cos in half and hour I'll be off anyway. That's not saying anybody is offensive or insultive etc, far from the case. I just seem to of really struggled to get involved in any kinda of conversation about F1 recently and there's quite a few 'in jokes' that baffle me. Maybe a reason why some lurkers are so shy?

I'm not a troll or anything of the sort (I come here for real sensible debate/discussion etc) but seem to of attracted just loads of removed posts or seemingly been ignored recently. Hopefully co-incidence but after a few times you start to wonder why..

I appreciate yr kind words Christine about being a good guest writer etc, that's kinda what frustrates me sometimes when I get comments pulled for no reason etc because it's obvious i'm not just someone who flits in and out etc and only wants to stir and provoke people. I have wanted to help out (ie music samples etc, articles, e-mails) and do what I can when I can.

I've never complained in the past because bottomline is you and Mr C do this for free out the goodness of your own hearts etc and who am I or anyone else to say anything negative. You'd be perfectly within yr rights to say 'see ya later we're off' and clearly many of us wouldn't want that.

All in all missing abit of sidepodlove

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 14:43

I've enjoyed meeting people here and think that the internet provides an amazing opportunity to get to know people from all over the world. I'd like to get to know people here better, and I'm enjoying connecting with people on other platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.

I haven't read back through the comments so I don't know what this is about or who brought it up. The real beauty of sidepodradio and all the other participation shows is that we get to hear the different accents which don't come across in text. I can remember a while ago someone telling me he was surprised that I had a Scottish accent despite the fact he had known me online for some time and knew I was Scottish.

I have noticed sometimes that if their is a particular topic of conversation flowing when someone new appears that I unintentionally skip their comment because I tend to scan rather than read and if I am looking for the next point in the main topic I just don't notice certain comments.

I have however noticed a few times recently where someone new has arrived and left and the majority of people have not acknowledged them and that is unacceptable. I noticed it particularly when Christine and Mr C went to the British GP Friday and quite a few people delurked. I noticed that I was talking to them and others were carrying on their own conversation and ignoring them.

I think we need something along the lines of must comment Monday where if someone new arrives or says they are leaving everyone must acknowledge them. This has long been normal protocol in chatrooms and should be here.

  • me07/08/2009 at 14:43

thanks. And sidepodlove to RCC and I heartily agree with Steven Roy.

Now I have just realized that it is actually Friday and that I should be at work. I was up late reading Daily Post: Friday, and woke up thinking it was Saturday -- having forgotten that it becomes Friday much earlier on Sidepodcast than here. :D Bye for now, sidepodland!

We don't pull comments for no reason, and will always explain why a comment has been moderated.

This is interesting, because I have never noticed a problem with Bassano or Andy who work at varying times, and aren't always around. If they're not getting something, I think they just ask and it's explained and then we're all on the same page. No one has ever been told off for not "getting" an inside joke, have they?

  • Nikki07/08/2009 at 14:49

You are asking too much of me. :) see you later.

  • lou07/08/2009 at 14:49

How did the driving lesson go today?

heya Steven. Well... it went really well :D no pavements attacking me today, i even started my lesson from my house (on a very very busy main road) as opposed to a small housing estate. I was actually very relaxed in my lesson today, and didn't get into a fluster at all :) apart from a few hiccups here and there (mainly with having to get out of the way for some lorry or something, it was very fun :D

    how are you today?

Best 3 documentaries ever seen on the Beeb. Talks about the dscovery of the Atom and goes right the way through up to today's current understanding (anti matter, quarks, parallel universes etc)

  • Nick07/08/2009 at 16:14

Swimming was harder than i thought... I met my daily target for week 1 of 1K... hopefully it will get easier, it never used to be this hard!

  • Nick07/08/2009 at 16:17

Mrs C have you considered that pandas might only understand Chinese?

  • Amy07/08/2009 at 16:23

Swimming was harder than i thought... I met my daily target for week 1 of 1K... hopefully it will get easier, it never used to be this hard!

that is good! last time I went swimming for the first time in years, I did about 3 lengths of the 50m pool then decided it was too hard and gave up.

  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 16:28

So apparently driving across England isn't a good way to generate exciting drop.io content. So I will have to use a video recorded last night (hence the white shirt #sorryamy).

I did encounter one other form of transport yesterday: the hula hoop.

I know it won't beat the baby pictures but you might like it!

If you have sound you will hear my future mother in law in the background passing comment on what is going on!

Ah it seems to be sideways:

    http://drop.io/sidepodcast/asset/giggleshula-mov

I knew I shouldn't have let Katherine do the filming ;)

I was tempted to do that :D

good job i have paid for 2 months of membership... Its quite a motivation ;)

  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 16:31

Well guessed everyone who saw the baby pics. He arrived last night at about 23:50, so missed being born on 07/08/09 by 10 minutes. No name yet, we'll let you know on that. Weight 3.42kg (that's 7.5lb) Everything seems to be fine.

Congrats you two! Love to all!

  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 16:34

This is not Alex in a bar territory, a name will be announced in due course. It won't be "Mr C" either.

I'll have you know that I've never named anyone in a bar.

However it is true that my father once met a guy called John in a bar, but he already knew a guy called John, so he said to him, "I'm afraid I already know somebody called John, how about I call you Percy". The name stuck through university, and he met his wife at university. So everyone except his parents now know him as Percy.

  • Janna07/08/2009 at 16:34

Hello to all, thank goodness no more work until Monday :-). Congrats to Andy & LPG for the new arrival

  • Nick07/08/2009 at 16:35

I did encounter one other form of transport yesterday: the hula hoop.

    Haha, thats brilliant!

    Amy doesnt like white shirts?

Thanks for taking us all along on your holiday though through Dropio, its been fun! :D

  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 16:37

Thats what I was thinking! Alex Aaron Axxxx

or Aaron A Aaronson? or Arthur B Ablabab?

    Or Alex Andronov :)

  • lou07/08/2009 at 16:41
  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 16:43

we're really struggling for suitable baby names here. we don't want to let andy/lpg down. any thoughts?

Weirdly enough, because we were dealing with our brother and sister in law who may or may not be considering some a second child we were discussing this last night!

    We came up with:

    Windsock

We were told it wasn't strong enough so I suggested:

    Volt

After this somebody suggested Ohm and resistance was futile.

    Ithangyou!

Actually I think Windsock might be a good cat name!

  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 16:43

    Amy doesnt like white shirts?

She believes that I should always be in blue. It is my trademark. So I needed to get my white shirt apology in in advance!

  • Alianora La Canta07/08/2009 at 16:45

    Some places actually pipe music into the pool. Of course you mostly end up with “easy listening”. Rod Stewart anyone? {Comment #49}

My local pool does that. Great when they're playing the Bat out of Hell album (like they did a few months back); less good when it's a Ministry of Sound album (which was yesterday evening's offering).

  • Alianora La Canta07/08/2009 at 16:50

    Huh? Surely if they are MP3, it doesn’t matter? {Comment #56}

Depends. It may be that the player doesn't do a good job of equalising the medium part of the sound range and the reviewer simply didn't know enough about the technical side of sound to diagnose the problem correctly.

It may also be that there was lots of talking/shouting in the pool, in which case no MP3 player is going to adequetely compensate due to the way human ears work.

  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 16:56

I for the first time in weeks wrote a comment about F1. It felt quite strange...

I may well be part of the problem here. And I am sorry for that.

I didn't post my comment I held it back because I wanted to be around when it was discussed and I was about to drive off. Interesting points RCC.

  • me07/08/2009 at 16:57

I may well be part of the problem here. And I am sorry for that.

noooooo. who wants to talk about f1 anyways?

  • me07/08/2009 at 16:59

well i can't see that going viral ;)

atm there isn't much f1 to talk about :(

  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 17:03

BBC Atom series...tell you everything you need to know. Loads of torrents for it.

That is one of the best bits of television I have ever seen!

  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 17:05

noooooo. who wants to talk about f1 anyways?

    Absolutely.

I didn't mean... I wanted to change. I just mean that I can imagine that some of the in-jokes may be to do with me. Does it make any sense that I have a video where I am riding a tractor on a formula one site?

Not really if you've just arrived. But I think / hope people soon get used to me :)

  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 17:06

This might be random.. but on the of chance i can get some help...

When you have done your first bit of serious exercise in a while and you start to ache, is there anything which can be done to stop it from being really bad in the morning?

  • lou07/08/2009 at 17:21

When you have done your first bit of serious exercise in a while and you start to ache, is there anything which can be done to stop it from being really bad in the morning?

i've always been told that the best thing to do is have a hot bath in the evening and try and stretch a bit. apparently it helps to relax your muscles or something. i'm no expert though.

  • Nick07/08/2009 at 17:23

Yeah, i jumped in the jaccuzi after i was done for 10 mins, but i dont think it will be enough, i might try that later :D

    Eat a bananananananana

    Really?

I dont have any! But I have 2 cartons of innocent smoothy.. they have 2.5 banana's each, if i have half a carton of that would it work?

  • Alianora La Canta07/08/2009 at 17:30

    When you have done your first bit of serious exercise in a while and you start to ache, is there anything which can be done to stop it from being really bad in the morning? {Comment #720}

Do some gentle stretching, have a warm (but not really hot) shower/bath, make sure you drink lots of water/fruit squash/sports drink and get a proper, nutritious meal eaten that contains plenty of energy and preferably some protein. There are treatments for muscle ache (Deep Heat is one of them), but I can't recommend a specific one for this because I've never used any myself. I know other people who do, though usually only when injured rather than aching.

Make sure your bed is comfy and make sure your body has recovered before repeating the exercise. Be warned - the first couple of times you could end up aching somewhat in the morning anyway, but the tendency will recede as your body gets more used to the exercise.

For future reference, doing a warm-down at the end of your exercise (either gentle stretching or doing whatever movements were involved in your chosen exercise at half-speed) will help speed your recovery.

  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 17:31

    Eat a bananananananana

I'm no exerciser. However I do know that when you exercise you break down muscle strands so that you can rebuild them. That's part of how you build larger muscles.

Potassium and sodium are used in the process of controlling muscles and so people often find that bananas are good if you are trying to develop muscles. Because they have loads of potassium in them but not too many calories.

    No idea about the smoothy.

  • Christine07/08/2009 at 17:31

Mrs C have you considered that pandas might only understand Chinese?

Um no. That is a good point. So if I learn Chinese, Mr C might let me have one?

  • Pat W07/08/2009 at 17:32

    Evenin' all.

I was sneakily reading comments while at work but wasn't able to reply, and now I can't remember what I was going to say. I may have another read!

  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 17:32

Um no. That is a good point. So if I learn Chinese, Mr C might let me have one?

I have only just about caught up on the comments. But from my understanding Mr C is already going to have to learn how to be an tennis star. It's a lot for a single week from him :)

  • Nick07/08/2009 at 17:33

    Thanks Alianora!

For future reference, doing a warm-down at the end of your exercise (either gentle stretching or doing whatever movements were involved in your chosen exercise at half-speed) will help speed your recovery.

Hehe, by the end of the session my movements were definatly less than 50% when i started :D

Counting down the lengths was painfull!

If I've read correctly and you've been swimming, the other bonus is that you can get the pool chlorine/brine/[insert water-decontaminating chemical here] out of your hair, which will make you feel better in the morning

  • Pat W07/08/2009 at 17:34

    Evening Pat

    hellooo

  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 17:34

    Oh dear. That's a shame...

You'll have to learn to cook then.

Which is it to be Tennis or Cooking ;)

Hi Alex! Are you still on holiday?

  • Janna07/08/2009 at 17:36

May I say how much I'm loving M&S right now. Garlic baguette, spag bol & bag of salad for £3.00. I think even Mr C could warm up the baguette & microwave the spag bol. :-)

  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 17:37

    nooo - takeaway.

Ah, so your choices are Tennis or Death!

Which makes me think of this:

Or rather he knows how a micro wave heats things in science, but not how one makes a microwave oven heat things. Which is almost 180 degrees opposite most people!

  • Nick07/08/2009 at 17:39

Mr C doesn't know how the microwave works!

dont you just close the door and either turn a dial or press go?

If he can turn on an itouch then turning on a microwave should be easy-peasy :D

You're very welcome. Welcome to the ranks of active swimmers :)

Half the speed you finished the main bit of your exercise is at is fine for a swim-down (provided, of course, that you don't sink - if you feel that happening, you are allowed to speed up a bit to prevent that happening!).

Also, if you are losing that much speed through your session, I would humbly suggest that you've set a high enough bar for yourself in each session and shouldn't worry about stepping up the length/intensity count until you feel ready.

  • me07/08/2009 at 17:41

Bigger muscles are no bad thing. You can do more stuff with them, and besides you can always tone them into shapeliness with a little light weight work once you've got used to your current level of exercise.

  • Pat W07/08/2009 at 17:58

Apparently I posted this tweet last night.... when I was sleeping.... *cue spooky music*

I remember seeing that... wondered what you were on about.

  • Pat W07/08/2009 at 18:03

Well I exist so they had children eventually, but it was 9 long years and hundreds of thousands of “when are you having kids” questions later

I wonder if Mr and Mrs C are being asked that too.

Of course they are. The default question for any couple is "when are you getting married?". Once married this secondary question comes into play. Nothing wrong with the other way about of course.

It does kinda prove Max’s point about Manufacturer’s invlovement in F1

    I hate to say that but… {Comment #157}

    It does.

It also proves further that the FIA's claim to be a guardian of the sport is seriously misplaced. If it hadn't been making rules that forced the cost of racing up, forced out privateers and made the racing worse while claiming the opposite, none of this would have happened...

  • Pat W07/08/2009 at 18:11

Most races i did were 100metres i raced pretty much everything apart from breaststroke, i also did 200 metre medleys...

Was much easier then though, i have done nothing for too long...

  • Pat W07/08/2009 at 18:14

Boo. I'm here, feeling very sleepy after finally eating something substantial. Had dentist visit today and was drugged up.

I think we should come up with TLAs first and work back from there. eg. NRA, AAA, PDA (thanks Zoe for that last one)

My initials are PMW. If only I'd been called Bob

  • Janna07/08/2009 at 18:19

Hi Andy, to add my twopen'th to the naming debate, I like William, it was my Dad's name & it means Strong Warrior. I also like Nathaneal (I prefer that spelling) which means Gift of God.

  • Andy Taylor07/08/2009 at 18:20

We already have a variation on the latter, the Anglo Saxon version (he was born on Battle of Hastings day)

    send videos of my holiday? {Comment #308}

I might be able to do that next time I'm on holiday (assuming it's not Silverstone). I found out yesterday that my network provider now offers internet access at 30p per day instead of 1p per 2k of downloaded content (which worked out at about £1 to update my blog let alone do anything else).

Pity my PDA refuses to talk to the internet any more and technical support turned out to be a bunch of static...

    I wish I knew someone with a swimming pool. That way there wouldn’t be other people there and I wouldn’t have to look at a timetable. Not that I’ve been swimming in ages anyway. {Comment #319}

It would be useful for me too - my high speed and low co-ordination mean that going in a public session is impossible, so I have to stick to when my swimming club does sessions twice a week...

Pandas for reasons I don't understand seem to always have names that are a repeated single syllable. If only someone was doing a sidepodradio panda show where I could ask the question.

The Kepler space telescope has found the atmosphere of an exoplanet. It was launched earlier this year to hunt for planets that are outwith the solar system and to find Earth like planets that could support life. It is planned to survive for 3 and a half years and should find many exoplanets.

  • Pat W07/08/2009 at 19:01

I don't know why I come on here somtimes, i'm clearly not part of the 'incrowd' regardless of the amount of times i've tried to join in conversation.

I sincerely hope there isn't an 'in-crowd' on Sidepodcast. I've always thought the community have been very welcoming to new people. I'm disappointed to read things like this, especially from someone who's been featured as a guest writer, with an excellent post.

I think it can be easy to misinterpret the many different interest (sub-)groups with an in-crowd. Each sub-group has its own little jokes shared by the people who talk about the subject regularly, yet they are all open to new people as is the wider community.

That said, it can be easy for us regulars to get caught up in stuff a new person or a casual follower may not immediately understand, purely because we're here so much. When that happens we hope someone will shout and tell us - we don't bite!

As someone who has only recently de-lurked, you can find yourself in the middle of a conversation sometimes that you don't get. I see it like a group of friends who meet up for a chat. You don't all wait for each other to speak, listen intently whilst one person is speaking & then give a considered reply. You all talk at cross-purposes, some people get lost in the overall conversation but later on they can make their point. If we were all sitting in a pub, I'd probably be speaking to Lukeh or Christine about Dr Who, Mr C would be explaining some techie point to someone else & Alex would be passing round his holiday photos for everyone to have a laugh at. I love being part of the Sidepod community even though I know very little about F1.

Ha I should hope not, all this talk of pandas, Iphones, PC's, is very confusing sometimes. Alright maybe I need to just say 'What are you on about' and not feel a muppet for not getting it.

It can be a bit confusing sometimes, don't worry about it though, something else will be along in a minute and in any case you can always ask, or start another thing.

Just catching up on Steven Roy's comments from last night... About how the most stupid decision was Ferrari going to war with the FIA.

I had a sudden thought. I know Max doesn't like to admit he is wrong ever but he must now admit he messed up everything he's ever been involved in in Formula 1.

For a start we know it was Bernie who put Professor Sid Watkins in to deal with safety. So the safety thing isn't really a thing.

But Max brought all of the manufacturer teams into F1 and I would say that he is now in the process of forcing them out.

Max took over the sport in the 70s. On his watch spending has increased at unsustainable levels. Now he wants to reverse it.

I'm sure there is more. But isn't there a way to see this whole exit from the sport Max's ham fisted attempt to undo everything he got wrong?

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 19:51

I had a sudden thought. I know Max doesn't like to admit he is wrong ever but he must now admit he messed up everything he's ever been involved in in Formula 1.

Max certainly has made some insane decisions and has a quite incredible record for being wrong but that doesn't seem to have harmed hs position though. Ferrari gave away an in built advantage.

Max makes knee jerk decisions because he is wrong so often. We know have cars with slicks and less aeor to give us more overtaking. In 1998 he gave us grooves and more aero because that would give us more overtaking. Look how often he has randomly changed the engine spec.

Bernie is every bit as bad. Neither of them have ever had a strategy they just react to any situation without any though for the implications. How else do we get to a situation where cars are so expensive to run that testing is banned. Surely it makes a lot more sense to specify cheaper cars and run them more than to specify expensive cars and not let anyone driver them.

You also have the wonderful juxtaposition of cost saving, new regulations and KERS. Is it any wonder manufacturers are leaving?

  • Pat W07/08/2009 at 19:58

We know this dilemma well, used to do Hastings to Bridgwater on a semi regular basis. A21/M25/M4/M5 or along the coast to Southampton then up the A36/?/A303/A39 etc.

I think it is something of an in-joke for around here.. whenever someone arrives from Eastwards they are always asked which way they came. I'm not sure why, it isn't as if there are bonus points.

You want us both or a combined answer?

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 20:27

You want us both or a combined answer?

Up to you. You can be separate or combined. I guess it comes down to how much difference there is likely to be in your answers.

  • Jackie / saltire07/08/2009 at 20:28

Have you been sent the questions form the management?

  • Jackie / saltire07/08/2009 at 20:32

Have you been sent the questions form the management?

Mr C sent me the questions and I sent them to Mav

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 20:34

Mr C sent me the questions and I sent them to Mav

Good. In that case between you, you should be able to work out if there is enough commonality of answers to fit them in one interview. In the end it is you interview so if you want to do it together you should do it that way and if you want to do it separately I'm fine with that to.

  • Jackie / saltire07/08/2009 at 20:35

We're thinking combined effort there's only one question to still have a thunk about. Great questions though :)

  • Jackie / saltire07/08/2009 at 20:36

I'm hoping there is commonality between us or we shouldn't be working together :D

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 20:37

We're thinking combined effort there's only one question to still have a thunk about. Great questions though :)

I decided to try and have a logical progression to the questions and to keep them as simple as possible. The point is to let the bloggers talk about their blogs and the questions to guide the conversation. The show is not about me.

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 20:38

I'm hoping there is commonality between us or we shouldn't be working together :D

I was thinking about the commonality about where you came from and how you arrived at blogging rather than approach and your views

  • Jackie / saltire07/08/2009 at 20:40

I was thinking about the commonality about where you came from and how you arrived at blogging rather than approach and your views

Ah, true. I hadn't thought about that. That's one of the answers but I won't say anything about that now.

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 20:44

Ah, true. I hadn't thought about that. That's one of the answers but I won't say anything about that now.

Quite right. Save it for the show. I don't think the two of you need to have identical answers for joint interview to work.

One thing you may want to consider is two interviews gets you two plugs. I have suggested that rather than making this one show the interviews should be used as fillers between shows. I think one show of interview after interview would get boring and no doubt as soon as a blog address is given out some people will disappear to check it out and will miss the next interview.

  • Christine07/08/2009 at 20:47

I think it will be different if a new show starts but imagine we did 8 blogs in half an hour and people were checking some of them out. By thie time you get to the last one you will hav lost a lot of the audience. If there is only one at a time people will check it and listen to the show. What I wouldn't want to happen is for one blog near the end of a show to get less response because people were already checking two that had gone before.

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 20:51

True that. So like one every hour before F1 Minute in that case? So people can check it out before the transition.

  • Andy Taylor07/08/2009 at 20:53

Has he got a name yet? .. he's gorgeous

No name as yet, nothing seems to be appropriate. Like the others, it may take a few days.

They could be put up while threads are being changed or while people are getting sorted out on skype or while the fire brigade deal with Mr C's cooking

  • RG07/08/2009 at 20:55

    Yeah, sure. Sounds good.

I'm on about timing, not Mr C setting the whole place on fire.

Good excuse for me if he does that, no show to do... :)

    Hehehe.

Not the response I was expecting

  • Jackie / saltire07/08/2009 at 20:57

Cookies is a good idea. Or maybe gingerbread pandas.

I read that as the icing could be furry

  • Jackie / saltire07/08/2009 at 21:00

It might be if Mr C has to cook in the panda suit to avoid being seen :D

  • Jackie / saltire07/08/2009 at 21:00

    Cooking with panda's :D

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 21:01

Silly question time but is sim racing those "The Sims" computer game people taken to driving cars?

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 21:12

I just realised following on from the livery discussion of the other day that the doohickey is like the late 70s / early 80s Williams with a white bit in the middle and dark green either side.

  • RG07/08/2009 at 21:13

I just realised following on from the livery discussion of the other day that the doohickey is like the late 70s / early 80s Williams with a white bit in the middle and dark green either side.

    I missed a livery discussion. :(

  • Scott Woodwiss07/08/2009 at 21:13

Silly question time but is sim racing those "The Sims" computer game people taken to driving cars?

:D Erm, quite far from it actually. It's short for simulation racing game, so games like Gran Turismo, Forza and rFactor. They set out to accurately simulate aspects of driving and racing such as physics, sound and damage while graphically looking as realistic as possible.

  • Nick07/08/2009 at 21:15

Will it be making a change to royal blue and white like williams and saudia?

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 21:15

    I missed a livery discussion. :(

Someone did a blog post about their favourite liveries and a discussion started.

Shame that the name is likely to be confused with the other computer game then.

To an outsider looking in, probably.

What's "out for a duck" mean in cricket?

  • Lukeh07/08/2009 at 21:26

What's "out for a duck" mean in cricket?

Means the person is out with no runs scored

  • RG07/08/2009 at 21:26

What's "out for a duck" mean in cricket?

    You scored 0.

Like a lot of the England team.

  • Bassano Clapper07/08/2009 at 21:29

So why is doing something for the first time "breaking a duck"?

The score sheet is going from Zero to One

    The duck is over

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 21:30

So why is doing something for the first time "breaking a duck"?

Duck is really duck egg which are round like zero. Breaking the duck egg means you don't have zero any more.

  • Scott Woodwiss07/08/2009 at 21:30

The score sheet is going from Zero to One

Yeah I can understand that. But why a duck? That's the bit I don't.

  • Janna07/08/2009 at 21:30

You also have eagles and albatrosses in golf. There used to be a team called Eagle in F1 in the late 60s owned by Dan Gurney. If we are going to have a new bird it could be hawk but what would it mean

  • Jackie / saltire07/08/2009 at 21:32

You score a hawk. I dunno, three consecutive finishes in the same position?

Ie, Nico Rosberg will have a hawk if he finishes 4th in Valencia.

  • Scott Woodwiss07/08/2009 at 21:33

Those golf people had no imagination or were huge ornithologists

I agree with Pat, Albatross it is.

  • Scott Woodwiss07/08/2009 at 21:35

Bernie is every bit as bad. Neither of them have ever had a strategy they just react to any situation without any though for the implications.

bernie now calls himself, or at least considers himself a firefighter. bizarrely he says it with a sense of pride.

a decent manager wouldn't get into a position where fires ever broke out.

would anyone mind if we released both gavin's interview and lukeh's interview as podcasts earlier than the sidepodradio day? the thinking being, the answers are kinda time-sensitive and it might act as a teaser for anyone who listens but doesn't read the blog.

  • Steven Roy07/08/2009 at 21:58

would anyone mind if we released both gavin's interview and lukeh's interview as podcasts earlier than the sidepodradio day? the thinking being, the answers are kinda time-sensitive and it might act as a teaser for anyone who listens but doesn't read the blog.

If the answers are time sensitive they should be released early. We are not exactly struggling for content

  • Alex Andronov07/08/2009 at 21:58

I am tired but I look perky. So while I don't think I need to be replaced I will bid you good night!

Apple fights back at news aggregators on the App Store:

A small group, who have released 5 Apps per day, such as "US Army News" & "Skin Care Updates" and over 900 others have had all their Apps pulled from the store for 'questionable business practices'

"every app produced by Perfect Acumen costs $5, most only aggregate content available online"

    Story here

  • Alianora La Canta07/08/2009 at 22:06

    Silly question time but is sim racing those “The Sims” computer game people taken to driving cars? {Comment #953}

I managed to get some of my Sims to do some "racing" in ghost train carriages and logs on wheels before my last reinstall. Possibly the only form of racing where a 10-vehicle crash happened before the "drivers" arrived at the track... Haven't seen any proper driveable racing cars for that game though.

I believe Scott may mean "simulated racing" in the more general sense.

  • Jackie / saltire07/08/2009 at 22:08

Any word on the job Alia?

interesting that podcasters do the same to podcasts listed in itunes and they do nothing about it.

  • Bassano Clapper07/08/2009 at 22:11

interesting that podcasters do the same to podcasts listed in itunes and they do nothing about it.

    Do they charge for themthough?

Plus, reading out the news is diffent to just supplying a story that's copied and pasted

  • Bassano Clapper07/08/2009 at 22:12

interesting that podcasters do the same to podcasts listed in itunes and they do nothing about it.

I haven't gone too deep in to the story but the issue isn't solely (or even) to do with their content

  • me07/08/2009 at 22:13

    Do they charge for themthough?

no. presumably apple aren't removing them for altruistic reasons though? they're doing it because they have to keep approving the damn things.

  • me07/08/2009 at 22:14

I haven't gone too deep in to the story but the issue isn't solely (or even) to do with their content

neither is my objection. i guess i don't like that the search result in itunes podcasts and appstore is basically useless, and the spam shows and apps are filling the place up with noise.

  • Bassano Clapper07/08/2009 at 22:15

no. presumably apple aren't removing them for altruistic reasons though? they're doing it because they have to keep approving the damn things.

I used to work in a video shop (before my aircraft maintenance days) and could put a pretty decent guesstimate on a film's qualities from the hundreds of trailers I got through per month

I once brought home a discarded VCR of the 'Billy Big Buttons' era after a night out with 'a couple of ales'

The original JVC where the buttons were like fingers sticking out, a top loader too

I somehow had the thought that I would clean it up and it would sit under the TV as art or something

Got thrown out pretty soon :)

They sponsored Midland back in 2006. Does that count? ;)

I see now. They are quite similar at the beginning though.

It's because of the Peter Murphy advert that I got the Mussorgsky CD. It was over a decade later.

More to the point, who performed that version?

  • startledbunny07/08/2009 at 23:24

    What's the piece called?

"Night On the Bare Mountain" (or something very similar). Composer is Mussorgsky.

His well known work is "Pictures at an Exhibition". An old sitcom called "The New Statesman" with Rik Mayall used the beginning for the theme tune

My friend's mum does some cake making on the side. For my 30th she asked him what my interests were.

He thought for a moment but could only come up with Women & Music!

I got a cake with 3 naked girls sitting on the edge playing guitars,

    A blonde, a brunette and a redhead

I wonder why he is quitting driving again

    .

He says he doesn't have enough time to concentrate on that as well as run the team.

  • Bassano Clapper08/08/2009 at 00:36

    Mr C enjoyed it :)

    You didn't?

  • startledbunny08/08/2009 at 00:36

A day isn't nearly long enough to develop your Twitter reading habits. Try a week and follow the right people.

    That is top advice.

    Of course, I await

  • Pat W08/08/2009 at 00:37

    Facebook got boring

My Space was good for latest info on obscure favourite bands and such

Facebook is boring. I check it a couple of times a week but only because people keep trying to get me to do things on it.

MySpace is useful for the occasional song that isn't available on last.fm or spotify. that's it.

  • Pat W08/08/2009 at 00:37

    Am doing it right now.

    cool, ta

Understandable I suppose. I get the impression he will be one of these guys who will be back again in a couple of years.

  • Pat W08/08/2009 at 00:37

On the IRL team thing, I was wondering - possible opportunity for Franck?

Maybe. Given recent background he'd probably aim for the sportscar seat though?

  • startledbunny08/08/2009 at 00:37

    Did you enjoy it?

Yeah because I want to ask my question (stamping up and down like a 5yr old who wants some sweets)

    You can ask!

Indeed. Mr C wanted me to be able to do it live, as we watched! Expect that to appear on his list at some point :)

  • startledbunny08/08/2009 at 00:39

    You can ask!

Did you feel a bit sad at the end?

  • Nick08/08/2009 at 00:39

You score a hawk. I dunno, three consecutive finishes in the same position?

I like this idea. You should send it to 5live next FP session...

  • Pat W08/08/2009 at 00:40

I recently removed all the 'email me' preferences

I did too, most of them anyway.

They still expect me to go on and look at their photos, and put my photos on it, even though I've got 'em elsewhere. That sort of thing.

  • Steven Roy08/08/2009 at 00:40

It's only a matter of time before you are live streaming film watching.

  • Christine08/08/2009 at 00:40

Did you feel a bit sad at the end?

Aww, I guess it depends what you imagine happens next. I like to think that they became great friends, and he moved across the street and was there for every thanksgiving as an honorary uncle type figure.

    Yes!!

  • Paul08/08/2009 at 00:42

Oh. I was thinking someone who only gets invited to dinner if the computer has a problem. That must only be me.

It is sad, but I saw it coming from quite early on. At least he made a good friend.

Just realised after all the Izzard discussions earlier, instead of listening to music of debatable quality I should have been watching his DVDs..

I need to watch it again

    Wasn't overwhelmed the first time

Nicely shot, just didn't grab me that much

It is a very slow moving film and a little bit longer than it needed to be. I think you can tell that much when you go nearly 15 minutes before a word is spoken :-) But yeah I liked it, don't know why.

  • startledbunny08/08/2009 at 01:00

What are your opinions on Christopher Nolan films? I'll mention a few if you don't know the name.

Apart from two great Batman flicks, I really loved Memento & The Prestige

I'm going to put this out there and I'm sure you'll all disagree with. Batman Begins was better than The Dark Knight.

    Just looked him up :-)

I liked Insomnia, and The Prestige was.. different?

Coincidentally my plan tomorrow night was to watch one or both of those Batman films..

I preferred Dark Knight, but its a close thing, and it's nothing to do with Heath Ledger.

Memento blew me away, but its very weird. Not everybody's taste.
