It's Tuesday and that means it's time to head back to work - another weekend and another race over. After a weekend full of sport - Superleague, F1, Boat Race, Jordan Rally - it seems like we're in for a quiet few days. Nevertheless, there is still plenty to keep us amused, and here are some of the things we're talking about:
- Jake Humphrey has an excellent post-race blog, giving some insight into how the BBC copes with the changing weather conditions and how their forecasts are just as wrong as everybody elses! There's also much love for Eddie Jordan, which I can't possibly comprehend, but perhaps Jake knows something we don't.
- I spotted a radical idea for some changes to F1 over on Mookii's blog. Scrapping qualifying altogether doesn't appeal to me as it's the best part of the weekend, but it certainly would shake up the grids a lot - similar to the way the one lap qualifying used to have quite a big effect on things.
- Make sure you get up to date with Alex's travels as he's heading home for a well-earned break after a couple of epic weeks at the hand of Formula One. The name of the site is very appropriate as it's easy to get jealous of all the cool stuff he's doing, although I'm tired just reading about so many adventures!
That should do it for now. I hope everyone had a good Easter break, and the return to normality is not too rough. I will see you in the comments.
Let's try that again.
Morning, folks. :)
Morning. I am officially "outback" and still have 3G coverage!
Hey Paul. 3G in the outback? Who would've thought it? :D
not me. I have 3 phones with me and full coverage with telstra, nothing with the other two carriers for 2 days.
wow. that is excellent stuff. either a super-strong cellsite, or a cellsite in the middle of nowhere. :D
how long will you be there?
just here for a day. I'm checking out the stuff I actually work on. That is, the rivers that run through NSW
ooh. what kind of work do you do?
well, I do the boring IT, but the business runs the Darling and Murray rivers which are the major waterways in Aus. Saw a few spectacular thunderstorms today and drove on some mud-pie roads!
That doesn't sound boring at all. That doesn't even sound like IT! :D
ha :-). Everyone needs computers, and I run them. I just wanted to see what everyone else does. It's pretty amazing stuff. They are currently controlling flood water moving down from queensland.
Very critical stuff, from the sound of it. It does help you understand the importance of what you do. :)
well that's what I wanted to see. It's amazing go see the scale. There are huge water management lakes, hundreds of square kms. I now have a real appreciation for the management and modelling of water flow that is being done. This is a BIG country.
Journeyer!!!!
You are goning to China right? you must try to stank Ant and Crofty. We need another sidepodcast shoutout!!
And by stank I mean stalk of corse (stupid iPhone)
Spelling all over the place there. :D
I'll see what I can do, but I'm with my family, so it's a bit tricky. No Kangaroo makes it even more difficult for me to even hear them next weekend. Still, I do wanna text in. How do I text them? (NOTE: No UK mobile here).
Morning all!
Hey Lukeh.
fair enough, hope you have a great trip. I think the folks in the comments twittred in fir us.
You can do that for me as well! We'll be in Grandstand K. :)
woohoo. Yep.
You could send them an 'advance tweet' yourself?
;)
I'm not sure if there's any WiFi there. So you're better off doing it yourselves, I'm sure. :D
Morning.
Morning :) how is lou?
okay, flu is becoming what feels like a bad cold, with a sore throat and a bit of a chesty cough... which i can live with :) may need to go see someone about my eye though O.o
anyways how are you? (and where is everyone?) ;)
Least it sounds like you're getting better :)
I'm alright, I went over the shops to send something off but decided not to go early because the post office wasnt open yesterday. Went over at 11... literaly just got in now after queueing... ridiculous queue!! I did buy a Greggs on the way back though ;)
wow...well they say the brits are great at queueing ;)
We do it too well :)
Just got back from the work laptop. Getting ready to eat dinner. :)
Hello :)
So is there a meet tomorrow? Is that what I'm hearing? I've been quite out of the loop...
http://wiki.sidepodcast.com/page/Sidepodpub+Meetup:+April+2010
hi giggles
Yus Mr Alex, and we may kind of be depending on you to think of a good pub for us all to meet up...
#youarelondon
Ah I pulled a sly move with the Post Office and snuck in on Saturday morning when they were secretly open for 2 hours :D
Aha! Right oh :) Luckily I can make it :)
oh goodness! of course, people have gone back to work... that would explain the silence..
Yes although no-one appears to know what's going on. I think Lou was hoping you'd sort it out :P
true story
Okie doke... Where is everyone coming from?
Or rather going to... Waterloo? Victoria?
Alison is here too! *waves*
all these people lurking :P
well... mr c said he'd wait for Alex to choose a location...so...i was just askin ;)
I'll be going to Paddington Bear
well i can get trains back from waterloo, charing cross and victoria, but i don't mind getting the tube...
#lukehwillprotectme
I literally woke up about 5 minutes ago. I make a sucky lurker. I was just busy berating Nick....
:D
Berating Nick? Poor guy. Why?
WHY WON'T THEY DELIVER MY PARCEL?? I can see on the tracking page that it has been in my town since Thursday. GIVE IT TO ME!!
Ehem, carry on, nothing to see here.
Yeah I don't mind about using tubes to get back to train station either. Plus I quite like the tube...
#oddperson
since thursday? that's not fair...
*waves at Kathi* Hi
I told him he had to vote or I'd cut all my hair off. I don't care who you vote for, but people who don't vote annoy me.
I quote one of our lovely hosts when I say "Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrubbish."
speaking of Christine, i haven't seen her around since they finished the recording yesterday *waves to Mr & Mrs C for when they read this comment*
*waves back*
I wonder then if... Hmmm.... I have an idea... What about a restaurant that can deal with a lot of people and won't mind us staying there quite a while and is quite central with pubs nearby?
She did ping the daily this morning...
She posted this morning, I think. That or I'm dreaming commenting again.
Sounds good!
sounds perfect :)
I can stay till 10ish now as well Alex rather than the silly 7 oclock I left at last time thanks to the later trains they added to south wales. Hurrah for trains doing something right!
ah okay i had a quick scan of the comments this morning when i was barely conscious and there didn't seem to be many to catch up on must have missed hers.
Morning all
hahaha. thats genius. i like that
Heh! That's funny. :D
And very timely - I was going through the latest polling figures for our election next month. They make interesting reading. One of the leading candidates slipped 4 points because there's a lot of talk of him being the secret administration candidate. He's duly denied it of course - admitting it is the kiss of death here. :D
morning
Good...morning. Just.
oooh, 11 seconds.
Morfternoon.
Afternoon. You just got in by 11 seconds! Talk about buzzer-beater. :D
You mean noon. ;)
Do we have a time based meeting suggestion?
I started typing before 12, I finished after 12, I was conflicted.
Get in, I feel proud.
6pm? 7pm? 8pm?
Mr C said that they would be there at 7pm, whevere it may be
oh in goodwood related news i got an email today saying Jenson and Lewis have already confirmed their presence, as have 6 f1 teams....
So based on previous years i'm going to assume the 6 teams are Mclaren, Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes, Williams, and erm.. Sauber (seeing as BMW used to come?)
Deal... Right...
Mr C said 7...ish.
Blimey, 6!
I kinda hope it's Force India, for some reason. Them or Sauber.
Actually I hope it's Brawn GP. ;)
Suck-up!
No idea. But this is one team I wouldn't mind wasting up one of last seasons cars to paint in this years livery.
What! I don't want to see Mercedes going up and down the hill in a Merc-sprayed Brawn :(
i think Force India arrived on one Sunday once,i remember Mr C talking about it. It's possible. would be lovely for some of the new teams, but i'm guessing they'd have the same problem as Brawn did last year.
haha they'll be there just... with a different livery... i may bring a can of white paint and a highlighter just in case i can get close enough to the car ;)
:D :D
you
maywill get kicked outthat
maywill be a problem ;)I'll just say 'But I'm Amy' to get back into the F1 paddock.
Mr Grill, Mr Grill, that name again is Mr Grill...
Signor Grilli on Goodge Street is the venue I have selected...
It's an Italian restaurant I've been going to since 1998:
40 Goodge Street, London
http://bit.ly/acdc7q
It's by Goodge Street tube on the Northern Line, or Tottenham Court Road if you're coming from a different direction.
Goodge Street is my favourite place in London. Mainly due to epic paperchase!
awesome!! :) thanks Giggles :)
He's so much better than that Grill King!
I thought you'd like that :)
and it isn't that many stops on the underground on the way home! yay! :) perfect.
ooooo i love the idea of an epic paperchase.
3 floors!!!!!
I thought Christine might like that :)
Is the sidepodmeetup tomorrow?
ooooh i want
3 floors!!!!! oh my goodness!!!!! must.go.there.... #sorrylukeh.
It would appear so
I'm confused what is going on :)
big shop.
lots of paper and stationary.
we're going to papercase tomorrow... :)
Oh it's a shop!!
I thought you were on about chasing paper, hence the confusion
I appear to have revealed a top secret location. I'm really not sure why they have such an amazing shop then hide it away out there.....
I was thinking exactly the same. Never heard of it before in my life.
Same here. This is how lou must've felt when we talked about Greggs
oh my goodness!! papercase is amazing!
Fourstar & I will be having an international sidepodmeetup here too!
There appears to be 3 stores in Newcastle/Gateshead. Shows how much I pay attention then.
hehe just so you know, it could possibly be harder to get me out of a 3 story papercase than it is to get me out of an apple shop...
There are 2 in cardiff as well, fair enough
Wuh-oh
We are going to a Belgian bar too... (its like spa, but better :P)
You're going back to that awful place we couldn't get served?
We missed the best part... it has a roof terrace!
'sup guys, how be we?
Has a place been agreed for the Sidepodpub meetup tomorrow? :D
With more than one barman? :D
Rightio anyways, I'm off out to get my haircut. Have fun folks x
Nick not voting then? ;)
byee
It's on Tottenham Court Road really... But opposite Goodge Street tube... It's a pretty neat road Tottenham Court Road... Computer shops, Habitat, Heals, Paperchase... And then the road becomes Charring Cross Road and you have all the bookshops.
http://wiki.sidepodcast.com/page/Sidepodpub+Meetup:+April+2010
Marvellous. Now have to beg and plead for time off work late afternoon-ish.
My brother told me he sent me a parcel today. Super excited! He wouldn't tell me what it was. He is not a birthday spoiler, but apparently the customs declaration will be.
I has the time off. Now trying to book train tickets down there and hope my Oyster card has enough money on it!!!
If that works, I would like to be informed.
PS If Lotus are at Goodwood as part of their "we want fans to be close to us" thingy I will be SO JEALOUS OF YOU ALL.
Don't look at it. Be strong! I know exactly what is in mine and I want it now :(
Heh I shall try that, because I asked him what he wants for his birthday since it's a month after mine and he said "whatever you get me it won't be as cool as what I got you" so I am expecting something epic. The only hint I got was "it's not food".
I kind of hope it arrives on my birthday, because if I have to look at it taunting me for a few days I will not have the willpower to resist.
Does anybody in London have a sofa they'd be very kind enough to let me crash on overnight? I provide beer vouchers with the queen's head on in exchange! :)
that sounds awesome, am going to have to check that out...
Ooooh, has anyone informed Gavin by the way?
they'll only be there for display purposes right? they wont have a car that will be able to go up the hill :(
oooh thank you for reminding me, shall do so now.
Afternoon. Everyone having a good day?
I seem to be getting a fair amount done..
A stationary Heikki is as good as a moving one :D
Hopefully Jarno and Heikki will drive some old Lotuses :)
mum just came in panicing almost in tears that she'd lost her purse. I sat her down, made her a cup of tea and then found it in the car. I went outside for the first time in 5 days... it's kinda warm out there...
Sounds like his Mclaren career
#imsosorryamy
it is! im going karting!
will he come though? when the force india arrived there were no drivers, just a few members of the team. if he does turn up i promise i'll be there to get pics for you )
awesome!! :)
who knows, all I know is Lotus go on and on and on about fan access :D Is Goodwood near where Lotus is based?
I got to sleep at 4am and woke up at 8.30, i think its fair to say my rents suggested it just so im tired and will sleep tonight!
well teams usually run the previous years car with the current livery to try fool us ;) Last year Brawn didn't have a car to run up the hill as they couldn't run the current one up the hill due to testing regs? they needed to purchase special tyres?... or something. Would be awesome for Lotus to go though, i wonder if the livery looks less like a soup can in real life ;)
Lotus is based in Norfolk? Goodwood is in Chichester they aren't exactly next door to each other but it wouldn't be impossible for them to get there.
hehehe
where are you karting? buckmore park? (it's the only karting circuit i know.. am trying to take an interest.. lol)
it doesn't look like a soup can in person, it's very pretty :D
hehe i'll have to tell Em, she's convinced he drives a soup can, although apparently him driving for Lotus means she likes him more... lol
afternoon everyone,
just thought i'd step in for splash and go (see what i did there?)
;)
hmmmmm... quiet
Just got back from a meeting. :D No one else here, though, I guess.
How's it going?
not too bad - just waiting out lunch
how's thing's your way?
painfully slow Internet makes it a pain to work. otherwise, i'm good. :D
Emma is at Silverstone today... i wanna go to Silverstone too.
I rather be at Silverstone than work
:(
I'd rather be at home having tea than be at work
anyhoo - must head back to the grind
shall be back this evening at some stage
I'm at home... working. Just an hour to go, though. ;)
see ya Leigh.
see ya
Timo's car is gonna be called Virginia according to his facebook, no idea what Delicious' car is though.
#nothere
It's Virginia and Veronica, it seems
http://www.virginracing.com/get-involved/66/name-the-cars
riiighht....
Highway to Hell is still a much better name for Timo's Car. (He's an AC/DC fan so it makes sense)
Gutted they didn't go for Barry Chuckle and Paul Chuckle.
:)
So should I buy an iPad on ebay from the states? I really would like to...
It would be bad though wouldn't it?
don't you want to get a 3G one though?
I'm trying to talk my husband out of doing something similar. Have you seen the reports of charging and connection problems?
I want... erm... both ;)
The charging stuff makes sense which is that you have to have a high wattage USB port (you can't use a hub or an older macbook)
Not sure about the connection problems though... I don't think I've heard about that.
Or rather Kat and I both want one I think.
:D so Kat gets the wifi one and you the 3G one? ;)
I think so :)
hehe when is it released in the UK?
People are saying it doesn't keep the wi-fi connection very well.
http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/article7088939.ece
Although the Times seem to have been forum-trolling for this news, but I did read the same thing on someone else's review.
They haven't announced it yet but it's rumored to be on the 24th of April... I'll be in Italy at the time.
so... if you order it from ebay you'll get it before you go? (and wont have to wait hours in line at an apple store).. :)
Yeah...
Here's what Kat said...
that's very true. I'll buy many things from ebay, but more really anything expensive like cameras, ipods or anything. Plu i hear buying things from the apple store is awesome :D
Gah! It's so frustrating how one day you can write an entire chapter, the next day you can barely muster up a paragraph :(
:(
Quick... we need good news to cheer you up... casts about....
aha... Katherine is considering joining us tomorrow!
Yay!
yay!!! :D I text Gavin and his wife if coming too :) i'm feeling much more normal today... i apologise if i make you all ill though...
Hello all, back from the Isle of Wight. Thanks to Alex for sorting out a venue for tomorrow. Looking forward to meeting you all there. Will be in town all day so if anyone wants to meet up earlier (or spend all day in Paperchase) let me know.
hey Janna, did you have a nice time?
Yes thanks. I went to see my Mum as I haven't seen her since Christmas. Was good to have some home cooking ;)
Hellllo Janna, did the weather end up improving?
It did thanks. Was lovely & sunny for Easter Day and for shopping yesterday. Am hoping it stays nice all week.
that sounds lovely :)
I have survived. My hair is much nicer :D
:) did you get a bob in the end ;)
No. I got about 10cm off it. It's still shockingly long!
She surely doesn't need a Bob... She already has a Nick
wow!
hehe
It's hard to believe, but that's not the first time that joke has been made today :D
Drat!
And from here in the comments too, no? Steven, I think. :D
Hi all.
Yeah I couldn't quite get away with a Lady Godiva anymore but it's still long hair. I'm pretty sure he won't kill me.
Oh my goodness, 21 years of my life and I've been eating bananas the wrong way. My life is a lie!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBJV56WUDng
It would be fair to say that that video has blown my mind.
Insane! :(
 It would be fair to say that I hope never to use that knowledge as I really don't like bananas ;)
All this time, I've been opening it from the WRONG end?! Madness!
I love bananas! I never ever ever realised they were opened like that!
It seems so obvious now.
that's brilliant... but i now want to eat a banana... and we don't have any.
I have tried it on 2 bananas since viewing. I wanted to make sure, and the first bananas was so yummy, I wanted another one.
ZOMG it works!! It's so easy!
I know!
Afternoon all
Bassano: 1
O2 UK: -77.53
After one hour of call centre hell
Credit refund FTW!
Wooooo!! So so satisfying. I love arguments like that
Of course, I don't believe them. Not until my text confirmation comes through
But for now, I wallow in pride :)
They basically just admitted that, they're not aware of a roaming data limit that a customer can request [as advertised on their website] and set up for me last month, before travelling
And
They are unable to stop data whilst abroad when that limit is reached
£77.53 in data will be refunded :D
I got in a big row with vodafone a few years back about the wrong tariff that they'd put me on. They had been overbilling me but a couple of times that made me overdrawn. I was a student at the time and pretty financially feckless so tbh that wasn't really their fault but I ended up getting all my charges refunded too despite the fact that my bank already took pity on me :D
Winner. I think I like to argue a little bit too much.
When they have done wrong, it's worth it
Injustice through corporate shoddiness is not to be ignored
But yeah, it's fun too, when you're winning and you know you are right ;)
They tried to get me to cancel my Direct Debit and then set it up again
How foolish do they think I am?
Yeah :)
Fun times. I don't start arguments over nothing but I also wouldn't let something drop because they said no.
I once refused to end a conversation because a team leader was unavailable and 'would call me back'
It was free, I had a speaker phone with LOADS of time
I can be quite patient & hard-headed when I want to be
Hehehe very. My flatmate and I both had this same introductory deal thing that just hadn't gone through properly on their computer and were both overbilled. She rang up and let them just give her £15 as they said she'd "used the extra"
I end up with £90 plus free phone usage for 3 months. It's just about not getting fobbed off.
On the other side of it, if I'm at work and people complain about pathetic things and want their money back, I can be very unsympathetic.
Indeed
In fact O2 should have only refunded above the £40 limit but they are giving me back ALL of the data charges! Fools
[Will believe it when I see it though]
Absolutely, I don't moan about trivial things
It needs to be important for me to take it further
The Jordan rally was quite dusty :)
I'm speechless about Banana peeling BTW
Yup, I'd say!
Nice pic
Capping charges never works properly though. Can't trust the computers or the people to tell the computer the right thing.
Which is why they shouldn't offer it but are probably legally obliged to
Also why I never worried about my impending massive bill
Capping charges never works properly though. Can't trust the computers or the people to tell the computer the right thing.
Which is why they shouldn't offer it but are probably legally obliged to {Comment #229}
They're not legally obliged to cap (or set charges for exceeding the cap - other penalties are available to them if they set any at all, provided any penalty that is used is laid out in the contract) but it does stop people from attempting to download the entire internet in one go or anything similar on a standard mobile connection. It also makes it easier for the phone companies to plan the communications loads and make sure they have the infrastructure to cope without too many people complaining about slow/failed connections.
I had read somewhere that there may be Applecare issues
Can't verify though
Well in this instance, they admitted that they have no way of enforcing it
May be iPhone specific, I don't know
Oh good! I found Nick's James Allen book. I spent ages looking for it ages, I thought I'd lost it.....
This may be a silly question but would it not be ideal for him to store his crap at his Dad's house?
Especially, it being a lot closer to major international airports than your place :)
He ordered the book on the internet and had it posted to me.... I think he intended me to come see him first, lazy boy :D
At least he now has something to read on the way back
Q: If a sentence has had a euphemism applied, has it been euphemised?
True true. I think he should bring me his book that I wanted to borrow! The cheek of him telling me I wouldn't look after a book....
It would so :)
In that case, I think he should bring you two!
I think the fact that I thought I'd lost his book wasn't helping my case :D There was a reason. Something silly about his sister..... I'm sure lending a book to your gf is a suitable reason for you not to be in possession of something though!
I concur
Reminds me of the T-shirt I bought in Cape Town
In Afrikaans, it says: "I'm sorry to hear about all your crap"
#SelfCensored
Hehe I realise I'm mean about him all the time though. He is nice to me really. Maybe I should make a resolution to be less nasty :D
No, it's perfectly acceptable as long as it's funny :)
If he spoke about me like that, I'd tell him to do one.
Darren Heath's photos and blog are up!
http://www.darrenheath.com/season/2010/malaysia-2010/image-gallery
his photos are incredible as always.
http://www.darrenheath.com/season/2010/malaysia-2010/blog/something-completely-different
his blog about Seb is kinda interesting too.
He does take a pretty decent polaroid, I'll give him that
Hi all
Just looking at the Darren Heath slideshow. Anyone know why Schumacher's rear right tyre has a strip pattern?
Well spotted, very odd
Trying to think of a reason, nothing obvious springs to mind
his front right has it too
And Hi Steven
Hey
Mormally I can dream a theory up for anything but I am clueless on this one
Normally even
Initially, I thought - stickers?
But I don't recall seeing those for years
hi guys. i have my train tickets for tomorrow, i am buzzing. will be in london around 3pm. is that too early?
Mormally sounds better :)
For the pub?
That's a silly question :D
Anyone fancy printing a building? It's just like stereo lithography except it makes buildings.
http://www.nextnature.net/2009/05/how-to-print-a-building/
hehehe Darren Heath replied to me again! *bounces up and down* eeek! :)
They don't do stickers any more.
New BFF
That's what I thought
You are so well connected. What did he say?
That's too freaky, had to close that before mind explosion
:D hehehe he's in london atm... luckily i'm too ill to go wondering round tomorrow aimlessly looking for him.. :P
i just said i liked his pics and he said
'@f1_lou Thanks so much. I'm trying to enjoy some time in London before thinking about China!'
will ask him about the tyres though...
Oh yes, please do
I heard it earlier on a Giz Wiz. Itwould be great if instead of sand they could use moon rock or Mars rock
Thanks Lou.
Send him a couple of your photos and ask for advice.
i emailed him a few years ago and he was very nice, i then emailed him last year and he didn't reply, shall email again once i have some better pics to show him :)
For those who missed it on Sunday the Wonders of the slar system repeat is on at 7pm
Not your day for typos is it?
You know the Mike Gascoyne theory now so that gives you permission to bug anyone connected to F1
I don't know. I seem to be keeping up my quota
?
yes yes, i know, will do :)
He says if someone writes to him asking how to get into F1 he bins their request. If they write again he does the same. If they write a third time he knows they are serious so he will take an interest in them
Ah yes, I remember that
From the Lotus podcast, was it?
This is odd but...
Do nails grow faster as you get older or even in the summer?
To me that says if you are trying to get into F1 you bug everyone constantly until someone decides it is easier to help you than deal with the spam
eeeekkk!!
'@f1_lou Well spotted! They're a used set of tyres that the Bridgestone technicians have checked the wear of before re-fitting to the car.'
:D
@bassano: great minds think alike!!
Could be. It certainly was something that was broadcast in the past few weeks.
I don't know anything about it specifically but I'd guess it was mostly to do with diet and hormones?
What are the two of you watching??
Not sure. My nails and hair grow at a ridiculous rate and are not slowing down any. Hard to say if they are speeding up though
Nothing
I think it was the 'is 3pm too early for the meet-up?' Q
link - https://twitter.com/F1Photographer/status/11708711556
Aaaaaah! I was confused about the nails :D
Theoretically, they should grow faster in summer, as I think the sunlight helps. Could be wrong though..
Well done Lou and thanks Darren
I am even more curious now. How would that put stripes on them? Slicks have little holes in them for that. They are like 3mm holes in the tread and they use a depth gauge. You should question that. Makes you sound like you know a lot.
This needs some research
Why would sunlight help? Nail formation happens in the cubicle.
Typing FAIL
wow.... i will erm... ask him a simple version of that... i'm uber excited he tweeted me twice in one day! :)
But a very funny one
Thinking of cubicles with little curtains below the nail line ;)
Increased Vitamin D levels was my thinking.
Clearly I am not making enough rtpos so thanks for helping out.
I love the idea of going into a cubicle and coming out with longer nails
This may help the fingernail discussion http://www.azteenmagazine.com/nail-care.php?article=321
There could be something in that but I am not sure why
Has anyone ever got a decent reply from WikiAnswers?
It's terrible, they must pay google a lot of money
I have a physiology textbook lying on the floor. Are you really curious about the nails, I could go and pick it up....
The bit I find most interesting is that they grow fastest on your dominant hand
I think they are very confused
I think the cubicle is more likely ;)
"Activities that increase blood flow to the fingernails may stimulate nail growth. Some activities that may do this include frequent typing"
i.e. A lot of commenting ;)
I guess that's to do with more efficient blood flow.
We need info on this.
Me either. I just know that my hair and nails grow a lot faster in the summer, or when I am abroad in the sun. I don't know the reason, so I just figured it was the sun.
@alison: am on mobile doohickey, was responding to bassanos reply that 3pm is never too early to arrive at a pub. how did the haircut go? please tell me there are before and after pics on drop.io
They did agree with me though in that it's mainly to do with nutrition.
So Mr C and his doohickey are responsible for there being more finger nails in the world.
Sorry! I could take an after pic I guess.....
Of all the topics that can be talked about on sidepodcast, the growth of nails has to be one of the things I least expected, ever.
longer fingernails... ;)
So, in the last week or two, my nutrition has been good?
All I done is eat less crisps and chocolate
Who knew?
Does that mean that one finger typists have longer nails on their typing finger?
*I've
You probably just notice it more. Either that or you eat more fruit in the summer (I know I do) and so have more nutrients available for such things.
He's so gonna hear that later
I think it needs to be tweeted
I was thinking of volume of finger nails rather than people having another two finger nails
Best.
Comment.
EVAR
But do we know if longer fingernails are as thick?
It's a weird place sometimes, that's why we love it here
These always looked thick but I'm sure I read the other day that she'd broken them
Is the comments of the year wiki running for 2010?
Its somewhere on there.
Grim, grim, grim
Needs a warning! :D
Eurgh! I was kinda thinking, nails that grew longer, quicker are unlikely to be as strong and thick as slower growing nails. I'm pretty sure they're not. Slow growth usually adds to strength. Maybe it's just that the nail is less dense though, not actually thinner.
Not sure if their is a page yet but it should be. No-one has said we are not doing it any more. We need to pick up more of these
et voila
http://wiki.sidepodcast.com/page/Best+Comment+of+the+Year+2010
Which sorta reminds me.
Every GP I think "there should be a 'Hobbs'ism's' page" (well, you get the idea). He usually says at least one thing per session that makes me think "wow, I can't believe he just said that on television!"
Start a wiki page for it and mention it in the comments
Someone just sent me this:
Light travels faster than sound.
That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak
"It's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt"
Who is Hobbs?
Speed TV commentator?
Lou, you've got mail (on the wiki)
Correct.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Hobbs_(racing_driver)
I do like that
Also:
Never argue with an idiot
They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience
I saw someone say that the other day on twitter, I liked it.
i just that moment logged onto the wiki to check for updates, that was scary, but oddly brilliant :D hehe have replied ;)
Any sign of Mr C or Christine lately?
I have a request
Christine commented at 8:45 this morning when she posted the new daily. That is her only comment
No... I don't think they are that excited by F1 at the moment... Certainly not judging by the change to the meetup page Christine made earlier ;)
http://wiki.sidepodcast.com/page/Sidepodpub+Meetup:+April+2010
Since when are most of the meet-ups about F1?
oh no!! but i have something for them! :(
Hey everyone,
What goes on?
Yes shame that :( I only convinced Katherine to come because I felt with the current situation it would be very unlikely F1 would be discussed at all!
It's cheese!
Apparently, protein helps growth
I've had a lot of cheese this week
Cheese makes your nails grow faster
My wife and I ran a fansite for hsx.com way back in the day, did it for like 10 years. I can totally understand getting burnt out on the subject.
:(
How does one change their meeting status - I will most likely be around
But of course it's their perogative and it's a long way from Rockall...
I don't think they got burned out... I think they're more upset the thing they like ran away from them.
Err, turn up?
yeah that's very true, looooong way for a weekday.
yeah, I can relate to that, too :(.
Good point
I think I'm too enthusiastic about motorsports to burn out, but I'll try to keep the car chatter to a possible minimum.
Doctor Who though........
:)
On the other hand, I gained quite a few lifelong friends from working on that site.
what was it Christine said the other day? 'if you can't say anything positive....' she does have a point. much love to mr and mrs c
Would be great if you can come, Dr Who chat may be on the agenda ;)
Careful now - I'm an original series nut too!!
:)
Hey all
Sadly, I can't come now. Can't get the time off work :( . Sorry!
OMG!!! eeeekkk!! He replied again!!
'@f1_lou The techs4 scrape small strips of rubber from the tyre so as to perform their tests.Where they scraped is what you see in the shot.'
eeeeeeekkkkk!!! :D :D :D
link - https://twitter.com/F1Photographer/status/11710432465
Darren Heath?? Good stuff
Yay!
we've as good as had a convo! :) ehehe
Sorry won't meet you, perhaps another time.
Lou - connected with the stars.
I'll be at Goodwood and Belgium, so I hope so!
Eonders of the Solar system now with the former pop star bloke on BBC2
Imagine:
So, I was chatting to Joe Saward about the photos I took of him and I was telling him about this conversation with Darren Heath about tyre wear tests"
:D
That's a great word!
Interesting but also confusing. how does that tell them wear rate? They could examine the strips to ecamine the condition of the rubber. Cure state, abrasion, surface topography but I don't see how it tells them wear rate or depth of tread left. They are doing something cleverer than working out how much tread is left
Janna, have you decided if Spa is an option yet?
My aim is to invent more words than Shakespeare. People say he used the language better than anyone but all he did was just make up loads of new words.
He really did. Have you read the Bill Bryson book on him? It's very short and very interesting and entertaining.
No. I tend to ignore anything on him or by him.
Bryson or Shakespear?
Mr Giggles, are you & Katherine free next Monday?
Ummm... I am Katherine is not.
Shakspeare
The book is interesting even if you don't like him as it goes.
If you fancy joining Nick, Alison, possibly Lou and I - I'll let you know where we'll be nearer the time
That's confusing without commas ;)
Ah sounds good.
heh...
I am available... Katherine is not.
I may pick it up sometime then
erm... he just said they are working out 'wear' i can't imagine he'd know what they were though?
I don't think it will be, especially as I am now unemployed. Will be here watching the comments, pictures etc.
How about Goodwood? It's cheaper! :)
Must be damage due to abrasion they are chcking rather than just how much of the tread thickness they have used.
'Tests' could mean anything
I think the licorice tastes different the deeper the tyre gets
Ah, fair point
I may well be there as I'm in Worthing so it's not too far for me to go
However, it does mean I'm free Monday if it's OK for me to join you
Of course
I'll text when we have a venue, late afternoon onwards I think
Yay, someone else who isn't going.
This is an equal opportunites meet-up ;)
Evening guys...
Just been working on my guest post but it's a bit longer than the last one.... just debating whether to cut it or not... I've already pruned a lot of stuff out...
I may just send it to Christine and ask her if she wants it shortened....
Yeah, sounds good
If it's a great read then the length shouldn't be an issue
Rally interest is climbing I think
That's what I do. She has never shortened on yet though
I think if it's good writing there is no need. I don't think there's been a post on Sidepodcast, guest or host written, that I've felt has gone on too long. Am looking forward to hearing all about the rally
Hmmm...
I hope you aren't disappointed... I've tried to get some local colour and feel for what it was like there.. as you can get the stats and results stuff from wrc and autosport....
And it does have my own particular focus...
Am intrigued
ooo! some tips for taking pics in spa from mr heath (given to someone else but they still apply ;) )
Wherever you r shoot at slow shutter speeds so as to accentuate the speed & lose the fences.Go to Les Combes at the top of the hill
can we do that? pllllleeeeeaaaaaassseeee :)
(hearts) Mr Heath :)
Tell him you are going for three days and ask where the next best place is. You want to get as much good stuff as possible from the trip. Then when you come back you can send him a couple of shots and ask if you got what he suggested.
Hi guys. Fed, watered, disappointed the Sidepodduo can't make it. :(
Of course, that's not too far from Eau Rouge
If we can wander about on Fri or Sat, it'd be ideal
Interesting little piece on the fake McLaren M8F from Paul Chenard's site -
http://automobiliart.blogspot.com/2010/04/mclaren-m8f-that-never-was.html
They'll come back revitalised
It is a long way up a really, really steep hill. You need to give yourself a long time to get up there.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Spa-Francorchamps_of_Belgium.svg
Yeah, only about half a mile or so..... ¬_¬
It's like people at Le Mans thinking "ooh, Mulsanne's only over there. Shall we take a wander?" and wondering why they're lost after 3 hours.
800m isn't that much to walk, even uphill
Yes, but what about that hill?
It'll compensate for the beer consumption ;)
Interesting. I am surprised a Revson doesn't have more important things to do than protect her brother's reputation though. Glad she is doing it just the same but I woud have thought she would be too involved in the family business to care.
Lou: did you read this ffrom Scott Bourne?
http://photofocus.com/2010/04/06/look-closely/
True, but there's always the hurt feelings aspect too. Add to that, if the fake is making someone else money from historic shows, it's a slap in the face as well
Bear in mind the distance you see from the map is the plan view so add in the gradient and the distance is a lot more and it is nearly vertical.
when i'm a motorsport photographer i'm gonna have to walk further than that ;) best start practising. plus walking is fun. tis alright i'll go on my own or drag lukeh along for the walk ;)
You could end up compensating for beer you drank three months earlier
True
But I'm not gonna jog it
If it makes for some good pics in FP2 or something, I'll do the trek
That might be a good thing ;)
Another oh wow photo from Soichi
http://twitpic.com/1do9r9
we can stop on the way up and watch some of the action, there is no rule saying we have to do it all at once. plus we cant go to Spa without walking up Eau Rouge ;)
Was just lloking at that
I'm glad he's doing more interesting stuff
I was getting bored of coasts and cities from space
oooo no i hadn't
Good evening. Have felt pretty rubbish all day but a hot shower washed it all away.
Evening Pat
If I was you I would start at the top of the hill and walk down during the session. It means an earlier start but at least your heart beat won't be at 200 and you won't be breathing hard. I am no photographer but it is hard to get good photos like that
I hope so. After last night I feel responsible.
thank you
Am I allowed to ask what happened? OR is it unmentionable?
I hate my internet. It's so puffin' slow. I'll be glad when my Dad finally ditches Orange so I can put a decent internet on the line.
No, I think it's been brewing, tbh
ALISON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She is into aurora
Let's not explain it now, if that's ok
eeeekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
'@f1_lou Good spot but try to move about. The the run down to Pouhon from Les Combes good, looking down on the cars.I shoot from the crowd too!'
link - http://twitter.com/F1Photographer/status/11712771950
I've been reading around and people have said it is better to walk Spa in the direction of 'oncoming traffic', as it were. They might be referring more to Blanchimont/Pouhon though.
I hope you're taking notes!
of course! :)
General negativity about current F1 collided with my assertion that it wasn't all that bad really, in what you may describe as a robust debate, which eventually I got fed up with because it was dragging me down.
Essentially. And bluntly. :)
But Bassano is right, it has been brewing for a long while.
5 of his ten last tweets have been replies to you. Well done.
:D (hearts) mr heath for being utterly awesome
:)
Clearly he is bored and stuck in front of his computer so keep asking him questions
Is it Orange or is it the line?
Lou, I'll see if my photographer friend can join us Monday
are you saying he would only talk to me if he was bored? :P
yay! :)
Food time, and a cuppa... deciding what to watch tonight. Feeling like a telly day. IndyCar or House.
I vote House :)
Thought you might :) If there's time I'll squeeze in both..
Indycar?? Race isn't until this weekend...
...or are you thinking St Pete?
I'm thinking Indy 500 because I'm nearly a year behind.
Oh right......
:D
No. He is replying to other people as well but you have better questions. Besides you want a conversation with him and if he is bored this is your best chance. ost others are asking about rain or how cool Vettel is. Ask him something else now and I bet he is straight back to you.
You all know what one of my favourite things is about IndyCar....?
Broadcast in HD - looks lovely. F1 broadcasts seem so blurry in comparison
OK everyone. No spoilers
Anyone with iPhone or iPod Touch apps should think about checking for app updates in iTunes
They're being updated by the bucketload this last week, due to iPad compatibilty probably
Hehe, yeah. I've had a lot this week.
Wouldn't dare
oh i see :) hehe i asked if he goes to events like goodwood, am trying to think of good questions but i'm getting way too excited :P
You should ask him why nokia 5800's have the best shutter sound ever despite what other people may think. ;)
(oops wrong button first try)
Don't worry about it, I'll close comments in a bit :)
Now there's some more people here
It's worth re-linking to the YouTube vid that Lukeh posted on the correct way to open a banana
Apparently, we've all been doing it wrong
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBJV56WUDng
You're going to blow my mind for a second time!
Think of something a bit technical
Ask about equipment you should buy or how you protect your equipment in a Belgian monsoon or how you could get work in motorsport or with one of the specialist photography companies. If you are going to work in F1 you cna't get star struck because someone famous tweets you. This is business,
his views on goodwood - @f1_lou Last shot Goodwood FOS in 2000.I prefer the Revival but think both are way to dangerous.Old guys in fast cars ain't a great idea.
He likes the Revival because he gets to race his E-type Jaguar
hehe i already asked him about the rain etc :P hehe
madness!
Ask him about Uni or practical experience, which is best
thought it was well known to open it from the opposite end
They really shouldn't have put a handle on one end!
Never ever ever ever even imagined it to open it like that, or even heard anyone sugest it until I saw that video
My entire life has been a lie, I tells ya
LOL
What can I say, I know odd stuff
Knowing how to open a banana never used to be classified as 'odd stuff'
Lukeh is right, the world is a different place today
okay, so having a conversation with Darren Heath on twitter may have just made my week.
want someone to point him to your flickr account?
Yes!
Do it
 at today's What The Duck
http://www.whattheduck.net/strip/943
They do but most people try and open the handle
Do you think he would like tigers. I have had this on a tab since I first saw it. I just keep looking at it
http://www.flickr.com/photos/loujohnson/4430551132/in/set-72157623489340683/
well I tweeted to him Lou, hope you don't mind
awwwww Jackie you're awesome!! apparently i've just gone bright red (mum walked through the study).. it's the most colour i've had in my cheeks for days! :)
Oops, sorry Lou's mum. I'm sure you'll have impressed him that you spotted the tyre thing
Darren Heath is a witch doctor.
i feel bad cause it was steven who spotted it.. hehe no colour in my cheeks is good, i've been white as a sheet for a few days now :)
:)
Did you ever get any feedback from the teams about attending Silverstone, Lou?
I'm sure Steven doesn't mind being the catalyst for that conversation
It's Orange, and partly my Dad for suckering into a 2Mbit line from yonks ago when it was Wanadoo.
Don't feel bad. I could have asked him but I only wanted the answer to that question. You want a conversation with him. So I got what I wanted and you got what you wanted. There are people in F1 who are credited with huge developments that they simply ripped off other people so don't feel bad about asking a question
i never wrote to teams about Silverstone in the end... school got in the way and i forgot... i emailed mclaren a few months ago (twice infact and they never replied) i will have to email again :) then write some letters.
I think I need to watch Dr Who tomorrow morning before work, at least so I can not feel left out at the pub!
:D aw
I has just woken up for a 'power nap'
#oops.
Anyway, not here but just wanted to say that to lou that if you have any events you want to go to (that aren't the gp clearly, although thats not completely out my range so i wouldnt say never) then shout at me and ill see what i can do. I need to have used atleast 3 of your pics (will of course credit) but i should be able to get you into anything after that.
Try some of the drivers. Chandhok seems like he is game for anything so ask him if he would like a fan to document his weekend.
That is a brilliant idea and he seems a really nice guy.
Jon, as you're not here;)
Have a look at this, includes a great West Wing clip
http://www.humanistsofutah.org/2002/WhyCantIOwnACanadian_10-02.html
That sounds fantastic, please do it
i have orange too... we've been with orange since it was freeserve(?)... but we only got the broadband with them cause they do a deal thing with phone contracts... while it's a consistent signal my bandwidth is useless :(
We're the complete opposite. Great broadband, rubbish signal!
Snap! It's the only reason my dad stayed with them, although now the signal in the house is so poor he's bitching and moaning and going to ditch them at some point. I need to politely say to him "I can do you a broadband package at wholesale prices".
The joys of working for a telecoms company. :D
That's not unusual unless you're prepared to fork out a lot
I download the bigger stuff off-peak or I get 'traffic managed'
ah love that ep.
good life lesson that, dont quote unless you know the context!
Off-peak is absolutely useless. Orange don't have LLU at my exchange. They did, and it was good, until they shunted everyone on BT gear and put 2 fingers up at their customer base.
ooo!! that sounds brilliant!... now to find some contact details for him/his management :)
Yeah, keep that off twitter unless he follows you and you can DM
Don't give other people great ideas like that
I'm pretty sure any of the teams down the grid would be more than happy. Especially the likes of Virgin too. Or any of the rookies, Chandhok, di Grassi maybe?
yeah, it will be taken more seriously too i'd imagine if it's not done on twitter ;)
Definitely
Try Gascoyne. Send him three e-mails at the same time and tell him you know he will ignore the first two so just to read the third. He seems to have a sense of humour so that may just work
:D
Steven's on fire tonight, full on great ideas
Since we are on a photogrphy theme. There is a new 15 pic gallery of Hubble pics on the NASA site
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/hubble/hubble_anniversary/hubbleimages.html
Haha, excellent.
That does seem like a fantastic idea. Try some to see if you can contact some of the feeder series drivers too as some may have indirect links to existing F1 teams.
love it :)
hehehe :D okay, i need to find some contact details for these people *starts to browse the web*
Or how about Red Bull and Daniel Ricciardi.. what does a test driver do
Amazing
I found if you want to find people, search good for the job title with 'linkedin' in the search, and then search their name with hte team name or @ and the team name to find their email address.
I've got to get myself to karting events and things too, as well as feeder series meets... up and coming drivers love to get noticed like that.. :)
Chandhok's mother handles his fan mail and only has 38 followers. So you could tweet her a bit more safely than him. You could tweet her and tell her you have an idea that you don't want anyone else to steal so could she follow you so you could DM her
https://twitter.com/chitrachandhok
Joe said before that you should never skimp on making contacts with people on the way up. You have more to give to them then and they don't forget it.
I did an e-mail interview with Daniel Ricciardo a couple of months back for the website - seemed pretty cool. Can't take time to get back to you though depending on his schedule at the time
yeah i remember that podcast, he said something to the same effect when i met him :)
Do you have a link for that mate?
it gets harder the higher up they get, especially with him being a Red Bull guy
Alex, can I ask a favour? :)
Go right ahead...
Can I crash on your sofa tomorrow night please? I'll bring alcohol. :D
Yep - http://theformulaoneandmotorsportsarchive.wordpress.com/2010/03/01/interview-daniel-ricciardo-2009-british-f3-champion-and-red-bull-f1-reserve/
They do seem fine with it, but as I said it seems to be a case of time and schedule
ah... um... probably not... sorry... It's not really convenient given how early I'll have to get up Thursday morning... And I can't really impose on Katherine...
I'm going to get in trouble for this... I have launched a new blog called less boring than f1 http://lessboringthanf1.wordpress.com/
s'OK, I may have a backup plan. Cheers anyway.
BTW, how early? :P
Cheers mate.
yeah totally, when it comes to interviewing and getting their help the best thing to do is find ones without managers, they generally are more up for things, and its easier to contact them directly rather than going through a mediator
I have to leave at 5:45
Are you trying to catch up with Christine and her blog creation addiction?
nice
:D
I thought I'd give it a go :)
At the last count, she had 6. How many does the pour soul have now?!?!
:D
hehehehehe love it. however i feel compelled to watch the entire clip... just in case something happens.. :P
Ah, you have me beat. Earliest train I could get to get to work before 9 was 6.30am from Liverpool Street. I went sensible and booked the morning off work too. 1030 train FTW!
Me too...
:)
:D
Though you may need to cut your grass....
Is that Caterpillar cam?
And is Ep 2, paint
I do I figured I'd do this first...
Actually a large number of sycamore seedlings have landed in my lawn which means I really need to cut my grass before I'm overrun with trees
thinking maybe alex dressed as a bunny rabbit will hop in and out of shot for a few frame about 6 minutes in...
Might be... ;)
i'm really hoping i suddenly see a squirrel or something... :D
One's things for sure. Its defiantly better than Eastenders
Uh oh!
No arguement there
okay, question for you all then... out the emails on this page, which would be best to email?
http://www.karunchandhok.com/KC/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=50&Itemid=173
Vicky Chandhok?
Vicky, I think
her or Suhail
That seems to be the general contact e-mail so probably. i would also try suhail chandhok. Suhail is his brother so is well worth trying.
I did a Mr C sentence ;)
:)
whats a mr c sentence?
No capitals. It was entirely unintentional
hehehe alex i watch the whole of that clip and didn't see a squirrel :(
i count 2 capitals, i would say thats quite good ;)
I was going to write I can't believe I watch the whole 9 minutes 56 seconds of it.
Then I remembered I watched the whole of the Bahrain GP
I wanted to go for the minimal requirements... I wouldn't want a Legard-esque Whooh in there or anything :)
No capitals
I liked the Bahrain Grand Prix. Until they butchered the circuit. Then I remembered why I hated F1 sometimes......
No Delhi?
london, paris, new york, tokyo
Touché sir. :P
:D hehehe
Pickles!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tO993fBwCMs
My slow internet got sorted. Damn Orange's crummy DNS servers!!!
Yay for scrubs :)
It's my nightly tonic. That and the copious amounts of alcohol I drink once in a F1-shaped blue moon....
My nightly tonic of programming seems to swap between Arrested Development or The Office (the american one, or better known as the good one)
I have downloaded (from iTunes) Arrested Development on your recommendation but I haven't yet started it...
Oh gawd, Arrested Development. How I lament missing the opportunity of the complete box-set for £30.
My advice: set aside 72 hours to watch the lot. It's a hoot!
Ooooh please get back to me when you've watched a few episodes. I reckon you'll love it, I haven't had someone come back to me and be disappointed from that show before after recommending it!
I saw one season last week in HMV for £35.
Thirty. Five. Pounds.
As an owl I resent that comment ;) Sounds ace... Must watch... have been very busy.
Will do.
SMEG!
The show: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/04/06/f1-debrief-he-once-again-forgot-to-start-the-car/
Anyhoo folks,
I have some writing to do, so must split for a while. Should be back later - have fun
Hiya Christine. Yay Debrief!!
Hope you guys are doing alright.
*waves at Christine* hiii!! :) thank you!! shall listen now :)
I just read that Jon Ronson is Cock a Hoop... I'd like to be cock a hoop.
How far is London City Airport from Goodge Street?
#notbookinghotelshonest
More than a cheap taxi ride
A bit awkward by tube but doable, I guess
I know roughly where the hotel is, having stayed there when I did Brands Hatch DTM last year, and it's more preferable than the £100 hotels nearer.
Are you guys live-commenting the debrief?!
I got some sleeping tablets today, so i shall depart now!
adios
Good night Mr Jon
Byee!
night Jon! and thank you :)
Night Jon. Sleep well!!!
If Kobayashi was brought into Sauber with Toyota money, could we be seeing a BMW-Sauber-Toyota-Ferrari?
WANT
I may have found a way to completely drain my phone's battery, so might need to charge it at work before train-ing down to London. 'lekky trains, and no power points. What a stunning company NXEA is.
Oh come on, I half-expected sarcasm tags to work.
they arent working :(
Combine with alcohol. It usually does the trick. :D
Oh lol hello :D
Anyway guys and gals, before I go and kill Jon accidentally, I'm heading to bed. Night all, shall comment lots tomorrow!
Alison, did you post an "after" pic on drop.io?
that would be a stupiiiiid idea
Can't you write prescriptions yet? I mean you shouldn't put unnecessary chamicals into your body. Especially when your headping is already asleep
See you tomorrow!
I was under the impression his headping was well and truly awake.
#notreallyhere
howdy.
I got to sleep at 4-4.30 last night, woke at 8.30
Would like sleep please
see ya!
See ya mate.
Alison,
Another aurora photo
http://twitpic.com/1do9r9
Lukeh... i have a feeling we may have planned too much for tomorrow, we'll see, but i'm not going to push myself to travel round london in a hectic way :P
Hehehe I was awake right through last time I did a morning shift. I was stupidly tired.... I may have threatened to kill people that day. Still didn't help me sleep the next night though....
There shall be no pushing and no hectic, i'll make sure of it ;)
I went to Mrs Doctor lady to get my old sleeping thingys again, nooooot woooooorking
hehe okay. :)
Awww... Lukeh is ace :)
#importanttofinishat3storypaperchase?
Is it wrong that doing nothing might actually be my favourite activity?
Am guessing you'll be up all night then.
:)
We have excelled at wandering around london, even on lou's totally, completely controlled planned day out last week we found ourselves wandering for a while ;)
:D
If Kobayashi was brought into Sauber with Toyota money, could we be seeing a BMW-Sauber-Toyota-Ferrari? {Comment #614}
Manufacturers United :D
Katherine is quite controlled about our planned days out... She likes to know a plan of action with maps and a schedule...
I recognise that :D
i do have some maps for tomorrow.. just so i actually know where some of these places are. not as ocd as last week though ;)
really can't do much wandering tomorrow though, not it a high speed.
wow! #sameperson!
Blimey! I think Nick and I are very well suited what with the disorganised and lazy..... :D
So more meandering than wandering
i get ocd about planning things...but am actually very disorganised.. :D
erm... kinda, although meandering suggests way off course.. i want slow, in the general direction and not getting run over... not that i ask for much :P
On the plus side for today, I was playing a stupid game on the internet and I've won a cyberpet
I have no problems with lou planning everything out, I appreciate the effort if anything because I tend to look at a map and assume we are somewhere where we totally aren't. Always happens. :)
Woohoo for stupid games!
Morning all. I have finally learned why people look at me funny when I eat bananas.
Cyberduck?
Morning Amy. I am still recovering, I can't have my mind be blown for a third time today!
Hi Amy.
erm... does that include spending about 10mins looking on the maps on your phone then realising there is a map about 10metres down the street? :P
Yeah, about that...
yay! :)
hehe
:P
I'm not sure high speed wondering is a thing ;)
hehe if you knew me in person I would have blown your mind years ago! Ive always eaten them like that :D
hehehe good point ;)
you always eat bananas in the correct way, that's very awesome :)
I envy your intelligence. :(
I now completely have a reason to have children. Just so I can tell them how to eat a banana properly. I feel I was deprived this opportunity.
That's because you are at the other end of the world and upside down
I can feel Nick panicking already
:D :D
I said I wasn't going to be mean again today but honestly.... Would you leave Nick near a child?
He left you a book and you lost that. What makes you think he would trust you with a baby?
Ive always done it like that because I hate that black stalky bit that you get at the end if you open it from the stem. This way you get past that bit first and have delicious banana all the way to the end. Plus, built in handle!
I didn't lose it!!!!
Like a lollipop but with less lollipop and more healthy.
I always leave that bit in the skin when I eat them though and just throw it away... I guess your way you have to deal with it.
You said last night that you thought you had lost it which means you lost it and eventually found it again. Books survive being lost for a few weeks. Babies, not so much
Evening folks,
Am back
#wisewords ;)
I'm horrified that, out of the two of us, you have identified Nick as more responsible with a child!
#itooamhorrified#sorrynick
I didn't say he was more responsible. I just said that the evidence doesn't suggest he would trust you.
I have just seen that banananananana video it was very interesting for Katherine... Not so much for me... I don't really eat banananananananananas because they taste a bit too much of bananananananananananas
hehehe
Lukeh... because my phone has run out of battery, what time am i meeting you at the tube station?
Damn you Banananananannananaman!!!! *shakes banananana milkshake*
Right I'm offski!
My train gets to london paddington just after 11:30 so 12ish?
Night eveyone!
Flavoured bananas. It's the future. I had no idea that there were people who didn't like bananas. So what we need is chocolate favoured bananas or orange flavoured bananas or mint sauce flavoured bananas.
Aside from an unfortunate milk accident #sorryalex I can definitely look after books!
He flooded his whole apartment!! I'm not complaining though, I thought he was building a duck pond.
Nightski
oh dammit! now i fancy a banana milkshake!
night alex
Night Mr Alex
I don't like chocolate either... Maybe there is a pattern here?
:D :D :D :D :D
#sorrylou
see you tomorrow Giggles!
:D :D :D
Flavour it yourself bananas. We sell bananas and a choice of flavour kits.
Alison,
Phone Dragons Den
I know someone who has a banana phobia. I also know someone who has a tomato phobia. They're not allergic, just scared.
Time for sleepies, goodnight all :)
hmmmmm... another major earthquake tonight
Enjoy yourselves tomorrow!
Night Lukeh, have fun tomorrow.
7.8 in Sumatra, Indonesia
That is a big one isn't it.
Yip
night! see you tomorrow! :D :D
#sidepodspace
NASA is on a stupid schedule again. Clearly they don't watch anyone to watch the mission.
The crew got to sleep at 4pm UK time and wakes at midnight. I am sure there is som vital reason for this that makes sense to someone but I am baffled.
The next interesting thing to watch is docking which happens at 7:44am tomorrow although the NASA TV schedule says it may not be shown live. Is it any wonder the US governement wants to cut their budget?
So the first really interesting thing to watch is the first spacewalk which starts at 5:41am Friday which is just after midnight on the US east coast. I really need to know why the schedule is so insane and why they need that ******** odd minute. What possible difference would it make to start a six and a half hour spacewalk a minute earlier? Over the past few missions they have started a good few EVAs and hour ahead of schedule so why put an odd minute on the schedule when there is not the slightest chance that it will start at that time? It's like some of the fake things F1 does to create conversation.
Night
Bananaphobia? How odd
Awwww
This seems to be earthquake week. At least this isn't another one in California.
speaking of phobias, i was in the kitchen earlier and mum opened one of the higher cupboards and a huge spider fell out! sadly i can't scream but i ran away...
;)
more bizarre is the tomato phobia. The person in question can't eat pizza with tomato sauce on it.
I'd understand it if be was actually allergic but he's not.
Spiders are a reasonable thing to have a phobia about given that some of them can kill you. I have never heard of anyone being attacked by a banana before or for that matter of a spider killing anyone in Kent
Tomatoes make more sense than bananas to me. They are squelchy and effectively just liquid inside. The banana seems a lot more trustworthy to me.
I don't really like the taste of raw tomato. I'd leave them on the side if I got them in salads and stuff. I wouldn't cry if I ate a bit though....
I went through a spell of not liking tomatos and I have never liked the smell of tomato juice. I used to love tomato soup but now I am not so keen on it.
Tomatos seem duplicitous to me.
Shame Giggles is not around. He loves words and sentences like that
there is still time... it's not that they may be deadly, they are fast, scary, and have waaaay too many legs for my liking..
i'll eat tomatos if i have to, i wouldn't choose to buy them though.
There is always a first time...
They are scared of words though
*cries*
i hate creepy crawlies
FREAK.ME.OUT!!
Yeah. I would happily make tomato soup though or make a tomato based sauce for something.
I'm with you here, saying there is always a first time for someone to be killed by a spider in Kent so there is a good reason to be scared.
I've messed that up haven't I?
yeah same:)
I would bet the first person to be killed by a spider in Kent dies of a heart attack from seeing it
oh dear lol
oh a brighter note i have now been without a bloodshot and watering eye for 1/2 a day :)
Is that because all the blood ran to your cheeks earlier?
hahahaa probably.
For anyone that might be interested in watching GP3, it'll be covered on MotorsTV - http://gp3.gpupdate.net/en/autosport-news/231915/gp3-to-be-broadcast-on-motors-tv/
