We have reached Thursday, and I have started to put the day in the introduction for each daily thread, as I know it helps some people (like me) who get confused about what day it actually is. It's a busy day on Sidepodcast today, as it was yesterday, so here's a round-up of what we've been up to:
- We have completed the Aside with Joe specials - a two part series taken from the Evening with Joe in London. They make for a fabulous listen, and even if the quality isn't the best, Joe is on fine form as usual. I hope you enjoy them, Mr C worked particularly hard on editing these, so leave him your feedback for part one and part two.
- It's our final Thursday Thoughts before the season gets underway, and it's Maverick who has come up with a lovely question to send off the series nicely. I hope everyone will make a special effort to participate in this final one - and make sure to link back to your posts in the thread so we can follow the conversation.
- The FIA published the revised entry list, following US F1's departure. There are only 12 teams on there now, which screws up pretty much all my preview shows. Oh well, now I can't wait for the season to start - if only so that nothing else changes before we get there! Have your say about the new-look list in the breakout thread.
That should do it for now. Let us know how your Thursday is going, and I will see you in the comments.
Thursday already? I know Wednesday seemed to go slowly at work but otherwise the week is flying.
Hi Thursday
Journeyer, btw Tuesday Night Sport still hasn't appeared on the iPlayer, wonder if it will now, at all
BOO. :(
Whoa, what happened there?
When I replied to Bassano's comment, the reply button on that comment is greyed-out, even if it's in the same thread.
It'll be somewhere
Send the feelers out during a 'decent' hour tomorrow night
Ahhh. For some reason, the dropdown had the Aside thread selected, but the thread didn't select properly.
My new Vacuum looks like a BFG from Doom
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4030/4404562439_b367245859_o.jpg
Dyson?
The make of the Vac? I have no clue.
Looks Dyson-esque. All vacs could look like this these days for all I know, mine's pretty old. Not very high up on the electrical goods 'wanted list'
Yea, mine blew up the other day. Motor burned out or something, started making a massive stink so I pitched it. Bought the thing back in 97 so it served me well and I figured I could use an updated vac.
They're all copying the Dyson now. Of course nothing beats good old Henry. :)
Nick linked to this earloer on Twitter but it's worth sharing here
The life as a tomotao from raw ingredient to part of an airline meal, stage by stage in photos
Quite interesting, especially:
The safety management system here is almost the same as for cooking for space flights.

Bassano... How's your typing fingers? ;)
Not the best the last few days, clearly ;)

No kidding. :D

hello all! I have now officially booked every single bed i need on my trip. Which brings me to a rant. I know some people probably prefer paying a deposit on a room then paying the balance when they arrive but its the total opposite way to how i want to do things. I dont like the fact that €660 of the money I take with me will have to go to hostels and hotels. Id much rather pay it now, 171 days in advance so its all forgotten about when I arrive :D
Hi Amy
Don't you have another accouont you can move it to and forget about it
I have an everyday account and a 'Bills' account [amongst others]
yeah i have about 4 accounts because it keeps the organiser in me happy. But i just want it paid! Why wont these people take my money! Singapore already have and spa wants money in july so obviously f1 cities are out to keep me happy. Except for milan.
'Italians' and 'organised' aren't in the same Universe
You'll find that out in due time
as long as they are organised enough to actually have a bed for me when i arrive ill be happy. I hear too many stories about overbooked hotels!
I'm sure that'll be fine
Only in Italy do you go to one counter to pay for your coffee, receive a ticket, then go to the coffe counter to exchange said ticket for your beverage
True fact
good to know because i have 8 days in italy which is the longest i have in any country :D
Italy is a stunning country, I guess I should consult your blog but...
Is is Monza, Milan & Rome?
:D Hahahahaha!
the blog is horribly out of date, i shall update soon, but i have 4 nights in rome then 4 in milan. I doubt ill see much of milan though because ill be at the track
Thought it looked familiar
Apparently, tis not the official video but edited portions from 2006's The Fall by Tarsem Singh
I've passed through Milan and to be honest it was my least favourite part of Italy so far. Monza will be special though [your Victory T-shirt may be slighly outnumbered by the Tifosi red offerings]
Rocket Red is the wRong Red in Monza. ;)
i hope the tifosi arent mean to a poor girl all on her own!
To the Italians, you're a woman first and a non-Ferrari supporter second :)
Very true. :D
Another fab invention, the 'iLuv' iPod dock has an alrm clock with an attachment that you can put under your pillow that will vibrate when your alarm goes off in the morning
and how am I meant to ignore the alarm then?
This is one I won't be buying too :D
I've been beavering away researching drivers who can apply for a superlicence. It may not be completely accurate but it should be a reasonable stab.
http://toomuchracing.com/superlicence/
I'll tart up the formatting tomorrow, I'm going to sleep now. :)
Night Pat
Hello night owls.
I have a very very sore arm :(
Hi Alison, what d'ya do?
The doctor did it to me. On purpose meany!!! I've been stabbed repeatedly with big sharp sticks!
Changing gear driving home was interesting.....
Vaccination time then :)
Not exactly. I've had (very) minor surgery on my inner arm. It's getting pretty sore now though, the anaesthetic is pretty much gone.
Oh ok, time for the neurofen
Yeah, I'll be fine. I'm just a bit of a wimp with needles. I can't think about it, I feel ill.
I bought ice cream as a treat for not screaming like a kid, my sister ate 3/4 of it. I'm very annoyed!
Should've hidden it. Which flavour/brand?
I did hide it. In my own freezer. In my house that I don't share.... It was dark chocolate green and blacks.
My favourite tweet of the day:
My cat purrs and rubs against me when he's about to be fed. I'm glad I don't do that. The guy behind the Subway counter has it bad enough.
That sounds like she owes you, a lot
[thinks about adding to shopping list]
Where'd you get that?
Tesco. It's actually on offer at the moment. Half price!!
Hmm, 24hr Tesco on the way home from work
Must.Buy.Tomorrow
Calendarised with alarm!
:D
Midnight shopping for the win.
Indeed
Except for the 'Unexpected item in the bagging area'
Hahaha yes there is that.
I can't sleep. I guess I should wait before I wake Nick....
What time is it there, just after 7?
He'll be up soon anyway
Hahahahahaha
We are talking about the same guy right? He's not really a morning person.
Evening all.
But work... oh he works from home?
Hi Dan
No he works from an office. I'm just saying, if I woke him up at 7am, there would not be a lot of love.....
What time does he roll into the office?
If you don't speak to him early, how would you have the time to chat?
We find proper time to talk most days I'd say. Normally once he's home from work or just before he's off to bed.
He'll start between half 9 and 10 I'd say.
Ah ok, then yes, it's too early to chat to Nick :)
Slacker, I've had meetings and breakfast at work by then
You're very selfless! I'm only not calling because I don't want to be sworn at... I'll ring in an hour.
:)
Ok, time for bed, said Zebedee
Night Bassano
Morning everyone :)
Morning Alex... just before 5 AM?!
That's the exciting world of work I live in! At least at the moment with fourstar off.
I have received an e-mail from Amazon to say Stuart C's book has been delayed as they haven't been sent stock from the suppliers.
Hmmm. Must remind Stuart.
Say... any chance we get autographed copies from the man himself? :)
alex works hard for the money! I just found out I have monday off for labour day which is nice because im working saturday.
Woohoo day off!
...so you better treat him right? :D isn't that a song?
good for you amy! i have a day off myself tomorrow. :)
indeed, I was going to add (so hard for it honey)
hehehe. i'm actually having a blast from the past. listening to 80s songs right now. now THAT was music! :)
I hope I am treated right too :)
Important lesson for every rally driver: Don't leave your car unattended at a place it is not supposed to be parked. Otherwise you have to waste a few ours trying to convince the police to give it back to you. Isn't that right Mr Hirvonen?
:D :D
Oh my goodness! Just as well that Mikko doesn't get penalized for that... does he? That's a brain fart right there...
How can Ken Anderson say loosing funding in mid-January was the problem? If that was the case, sureley they would have a car just about ready to go? Or were they going to magically produse something in 2 weeks?!
Very good point there, paul.
I'm not sure how he can complain about a short time frame becuase the concord agreement was delayed either. Lotus had a shorter time frame didn't they? Sounds like Anderson is looking for excuses. Good luck getting an entry for 2011.
now that I know where I am staying when, I am going on a mad flight booking power trip. Spending euro is so easy!
and cheaper then ever :D
and airlines are so kind as to take my money right away :D
They are so helpful.
I am jelous!
Inititally when I started thinking about Europe I wanted to take trains more but when a Barcelona to Madrid train would cost me $149AU or a flight at $43 I know which I will choose #budgettraveller. So there is a grand total of two trains in all my journeys :D
That's crazy and a little disppointing. At least you will get everywhere fast
keep in mind that just because ryanair says an airport is in a certain city doesn't mean it is anywhere near that city :)
OH! Months ago I thought I had thrown out an unused tram ticket, value $28, while clearing receipts out of my wallet and I was very very sad.
But I just got out my passport because Spanair wants the number, and the metcard is in there for some reason! I feel $28 richer :D
heheh I am giving Ryanair a wide berth for exactly that reason! So far I have booked three flights with Easyjet and google tells me all the airports I am using are the main airports for the cities :D
Indeed. Significantly shorter too.
Haha! Consumerism at its finest. :D
Morning :D
Yeah it's all rubbish - the car should have been ready by then and they had the chance to buy two cars even if they weren't.
Again, Lola had a windtunnel model in June and could have waited until October to restart the project.
The man is clearly an idiot and had no idea what he was doing. Once the employees are properly laid off (they are on unpaid leave), the truth will come out.
Incidentally, the one who is on Facebook is so angry, yet if the project re-started he would be back in a flash. Why? Just for that chance to be working in F1. They all bought into the dream and now sadly have been burned. If they were in the UK, they would already have got another job in F1...
Easyjet is far better than Ryanair, IMO
If I were him, I would probably start with an IndyCar or a NASCAR team first, then parlay that into an F1 job later when I can afford the move to Europe.
A lot of them came from teams like that though...
everything gives me that impression, even their website. Ryanair's looks like it was designed by a 13 year old in his first day of Computer classes at high school.
We are flying Easyjet to the UK at Easter. My impression is that it is better than SAS (the Scandinavian 'national' carrier) - the planes are nice, new and clean and the flights are punctual - all the things SAS aren't ;)
Good point. The sad fact is, unless Penske or Hendrick make an F1 foray, I don't see an American F1 team coming true in the next 10 years, at least.
:D
ooh Spanair are even Star Alliance members, I'm sure my 29 Euro flight will earn me a whole one air mile or so.
does this mean that your entire vacation is already booked and good to go?
Then again, maybe Andretti will make an F1 foray if they want Marco in F1?
Mario would love that. Michael, not so much.
I can get a train ticket from Berlin to Munich for an ICE (that is I.C.E not ice train dear english speaking documentary from 10 years ago ;)) for €29 if I book early enough and accept strange travelling times but whenever you want to leave the country it gets tricky :(
all that is left is the train from Berlin to Zurich (so I can fulfil my goal of sleeping on a night train) and the Eurostar from Paris to London (so I can go on a train under the sea). Train companies are silly and only release tickets 90 days in advance, they do not cater for the likes of me who like to book 200 days in advance.
Do you really think that would happen when both Michael and Mario are bitter about his time at McLaren?
Oooh I do love those ICE trains - Denmark should have replaced their old and knackered IC-trains with them instead of buying useless Italian trains that still have not been delivered!
I am going on this train :D
I wouldn't know. I've never taken one. I like Finland's Italian Pendolino though
Ooh CityNightLine - that's one of my options to Spa :)
I shouldn't be so fascinated with night trains but I really, really am. My friends who have used them on their OEs all tell me as soon as you get on them you realise they suck though.
Will you take the single deluxe sleeper?
I get the impression that will be ridiculously outside my budget sadly.
it's at least €179 even if you book 92 days early :(
ouch. According to the Australian-Euro-Train-Bookingy-Place, if I chose to travel on a Thursday (which I do) but one in April since they don't care about September, a deluxe single adult fare is AU$482.
An economy one is $382. If you buy the economy one early it is $283 which isn't that much more than a 6 berth couchette at $240.
Even so, $240 is a lot for a journey that I could fly for about $60.
hm, do you want me to check bahn.de before you book. They seem to be much cheaper than the Australians (if my currency converter is correct)
Wow - someone linked to and translated my testing posts in Spanish! http://safety-car.net/showthread.php/614-Monoplazas-de-f1-temporada-2010
ooh that would be lovely. The Australian agents for these places are such rip offs, the fares are higher then they charge a $15 booking fee + a $38 handling fee.
in Australian GP news, the longe range forecast says high chance of rain. Of course forecasting this far out is silly, but lets do it anyway.
OK. remind me 93 days before you want to take your trip by e-mail :)
:D *calculates 93 days before 2 September*
here is another story showing what scares me about tomorrow. It's not 1999 boys!
Not likely, but it's still very much possible. When Mario was interviewed on the Motorsport Magazine podcast, he didn't sound all too bitter about it.
You really found a niche and dug in, Gavin. Undisputed blogger king of F1 statistics. :)
Yeah that's true. I guess if these guys wanted in again, it would be on their own terms ;)
Thanks - but I would dispute it as there are some very good resources out there ;)
I just love that the posts I make are shared out this way - that someone thought my post was good enough that it should be translated so their friends can see it - awesome!
True. The danger though is starting from scratch is that it may blow up in their face.
Actually, had USF1 gotten off the ground, Andretti could've bought a stake in the team 3 or 4 years from now when the team is already relatively established. As it stands, that probably won't happen.
An early morning jobbie, therefor if it makes no sense I will take no blame
;)
http://formula1archive.blogspot.com/2010/03/does-formula-1-need-thirteen-teams.html
Morning all.
Morning Christine
Morning :)
Morning Christine. :)
I somehow think that rain may be better than the 40+ temperatures 2 years ago. that was unbelievable heat :-)
that was my first trip to Melbourne, I was loving it! #coldblooded
well it was an experience :-) I am used to very warm weather, but here warm comes hand in hand with humid, that time in Melbourne it was very different kind of heat I am used too. and I believe a bit unusual for that time of the year
more on Australian GP - I arrive Melbourne Thursday before race, leave Sunday night after race, my seat is somewhere at Brabham, Wolf headquarters for the weekend will be located at St Kilda Novotel. may be busy in the before hours and afterhours but should be fairly free between the sessions on the track
I much prefer a dry heat, humidity kills me. But if I remember correctly the first night I arrived in town was the hottest March over night temperature in 84 years.
that explains it :-)
That does raise an interesting question. Unfortunately I will not be able to spend so much time on Grands Prix this year for various reasons which I won't go into. Needless to say, I am going to have to do some juggling this year.
Also, I will in the UK for the Malaysian Grand Prix and I am going to Spa, so I am going to be making posts for those Grands Prix a lot later than usual (a week later for MLA, a few days later for BEL).
I think it is going to be a challenging year for me in that respect...
good morning
isn't it funny how we get so annoyed when some one does it in English though ;-)
Another aero controversy?
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/81832
This is different - because they linked to my blog and translated it for the benefit of others who may not understand it. Got some clicks out of it too ;)
And what do clicks make?
:D
"controversy" might be pushing it for the time being, Red Bull think it's probably legal even if they have asked about it
Page Views!
a happy Gavin
I've had 154 clicks coming from you in the past week - try harder ;-)
I've had 215 from you - so I owe you 50. Maybe next time I'll image link you instead of the comment at the end then?
really? actually surprised at that a bit since I posted first and the links were then added later
Maybe i should start buying all these clicks from F1 blogs :P
Your right there...This is the "new" FIA now so I guess they may judge this without bias.
Morning everyone! I am meeting a European company this afternoon for an assignment, which seems odd, but apparently we don't need to be prepared for it or anything so I have no idea what to expect...
That's out of a combined total of 3064 views for the five posts linked to yours - which makes it a 5% ratio. Hmm, I did expect better than that. What do you think the ratio is from VivaF1 --> my posts?
Ha!
Look at the grafiti at place de concorde and you will probably see:
Jean 4 Micheal 4 Eva
Nicholas 4 Felipe 4 eva
Suit up!
good question, alll our blog posts are kindly gathered under one page as far as stats are concerned
Do we think the USF1 toaster could be the newest version of the Hesketh Bear Mascot?
I'd be keen to know if it's not too much trouble. I'm a bit disappointed that only 5% of the visitors clicked on the link to your posts - seeing as I referenced them quite a lot when analysing the data...
that one might be interesting if Mercedes' super diffuser starts pushing the limits of the regs
will have a dig through what we have, I've restricted myself to the webhosts' stats as it avoids all the junk that comes with other analytics and speeds up loads time
Thanks - for reference I just used WordPress Stats.
problem is, I start looking at the analytic pages and I end up distracted for hours... 214 pages views in the russian federation (£10 says it's a spambot!)
Well, it's no big deal - I was just curious about it...
Vitaly Petrov is using your website for info!
An MFC post: http://mediafuturechange.com/2010/03/04/changing-touring-forever/
sorry, problem with just the webhosts stats is that it's a bit limited on that sort of stuff but I can get all the info I'd ever need on webcrawlers using my bandwidth
oh, I lose my £10 :-(
it's a russian search engine - we're big in novosibirsk apparently
"It's our final Thursday Thoughts before the season gets underway, and it's Maverick who has come up with a lovely question to send off the series nicely. The post should be up shortly..."
am I writing that?
Er, no. I scheduled it but I can't remember when for. Will check.
that's okay, because I haven't... and relax
Ah ha, I forgot to actually schedule it. D'oh. Thanks for the nudge, Maverick.
Aaaaand ping: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/03/04/thursday-thoughts-your-blog/
no problem (although I've just given away that I've only just actually read the daily thread)
An F1 car with a Lada logo: http://adamcooperf1.com/2010/03/04/renault-f1-team-confirms-lada-deal/
Who thought we'd ever see the day?
Those sidepods still look bare...
I like the computer generated image... possible the first of codemasters f12010? :P
I think it's straight out of Renault, saw it on Adam Cooper's first but it's probably on the Renault site
Isnt that supposed to be out this month? They seem to have gone very quiet, perhpas they got stuck making the USF1 model
Just like US F1 did?
I expect it'll tie in with the first/second race of the season
how hard can it be? two slots in the top and a lever on the side
Gosh what a busy morning...
I know there has been a lot of brownie discussion here on Sidepodcast so when I saw this I thought of you all:

You've been cooking? :D

I would like everything on that website for my birthday

Gotta love F1... McLaren say Ferrari don't know anything about questions of legality, Ferrari say they don't know anything about questions of legality
If Ferrari are not bothering to protest, it must be legal
This one's for Mr. C :D
KERS for your blog
It was more for the headline as he keeps mentioning this PuddleBubbleWuddleCuddleHuddle thing - but yeah, it does sound cool. The best way to spread your work is to post links in as many places as possible though ;)
RG, Badger has some loving for Timo: http://www.f1badger.com/2010/03/we-salute-you-glockdogs-golden-helmet/
True
You've not quite got the hang of it though ;-)
You wouldn't believe how long I spend after I post making links in various places! Sometimes I'm there for an hour afterwards plugging away!
hi
Hi Pat. How's the cheese today?
annoyingly so... and i can't be bothered apart from here and twitter :)
mine has a different focus though. i may do it for the superlicence thing i wrote last night
Not adding up :)
I believe Sidepodcast has been doing it for a while. That's why Mr C was getting excited by Google Reader the other day.
Do it. The more you do it, the more people read it and the more subscribe to it (like a critical mass or something). It's awesome when you see links coming in from people sharing your work on other forums and in other languages!
This made me think of a Ross Geller Hi for some reason.
Friends was on the TV at the gym last night ... bit weird watching it with no sound in Danish though!
Can't watch the vid you link to
Well it worked when I posted it - she just mentions a lot of phrases and they're linked together to sound rude...
When did YouTube start having 'Private Videos' anyway?
Has that ever happened before of a car have to different automobile manufacturers as sponsors? I know Renault actually provide the engine and Lada probably make other things besides car/.
Well there is the Fiat Yamaha team in MotoGP?
It's happened in MotoGP with FIAT sponsoring Yamaha. Not sure if it's happened in F1 before this year, and now it's happened twice! BMW Sauber and Lada with Renault.
Ferrari have Tata, although it's supposed to be Tata's computing arm
The BMW Sauber thing is really odd isn't it?
Ratan Tata has a computer arm was the first thought in my head when i read that!
Cost saving measure - they already had post-it notes printed as well as BMW Sauber calenders sent out!
And Letterheads ;)
BWM Ferrari
Tata has so many companies, I don't think this really counts.
Sorry?
Which reminds me, last I heard this deal just quietly died without renewal? Not sure if that's really the case, though.
but there's no small print explaining that on the livery
BMW Sauber Ferrari I meant... I missed a word.
and Peter's tattoo!
So it's Ta-ta to Tata?
I swear I saw an advert this week highlighting the partnership
I'm just going to call them Sauber this year ... much like Scuderia Ferrari M******* are referred to as Ferrari...
By the way, I'm expecting a super duper suggestion for the last Friday Fun.
uh oh... I went a week early last week...
:)
On the sidepod under the Acer logo when they were testing so still a sponsor!

Yaaayyy, I'm going to the British F3 Media Day....i just have to work out how to get there...boo
How are we all today?
I hope this is an early April's fools. The date is Thursday 4th March 2010. ;)
no it's not #isindenial
Blimey.
That's quite typical in a post where I say I'm gonna help people tell what day it is.
It's never too early for April Fool's Day
I'm sure Bernie has lots of experience working around this calendar loophole
s'OK I guess, it means you trick people into having more time on their hands for the coming year! :D
Trouble is I don't really give myself time to visit many forums and sites, and I'm not one to shout about myself anyway :)
:-)
Well it is a Thursday which explains a lot!
i'm flying on April Fools Day...
Ahh, so still alive! Thanks MoJoker.
Google Maps is useless. I type in Silverstone in the to box and then railway in the from box, it gives me a few train stations...That are all closed!!!
public transport fail
I fly home they day beforehand...
We have a service called krak.dk that is more local - kinda like the White Pages in the UK. Do you not have something similar? What about a rail line website?
Thats my next stop....i just have to remember what the website was called..
I believe you need to use "train" rather than railway.
For best results search for Silverstone first before you go into directions then turn directions on, swap the destination and from, and type "train" in the from box. It then brings up a set of different places
http://bit.ly/biBLZm
Nationalrail.co.uk is ****ing useless sometimes for that.
Silverstone's nearest rail links are: Northampton, Banbury, Milton Keynes and Towcester. Just FYI.
Karun Chandhok has been confirmed
I heart alex
And it took 12hrs for anyone to notice :)
(I didn't either)
Didn't realise he was the religious type? ;)
That's an unfortunate abbreviation :)
Afternoon
Northampton. Then...um.
:D Awesome
I had no idea 'train' would work as a destination. #googledoeseverything
The language is full of 'em!
Right, now the office has got quieter I've managed to catch up again..
So is the cheese adding up now then?
still costs £35 + Taxi from MK to Silverstone. grrr
Yes :)
There are 1483 of them.
and some more of another sort, which still don't add up but I know why
I'll tell you what the best thing that people seem to miss all the time...
search for a place... then delete that and search for say, "curry" it will find you all the curry restaurants nearby. This works super great on the iPhone maps app too.
I am sorry about that.
not your fault. maybe not gonna be able to go. boo
Have you tried Northampton? It is nearer.
Check buses too.
will do a breakout in a sec, cheers.
Best. Unibrow. Ever.
It's like an extra front wing!!!
oooh, it is. £26 i can do. will check buses in a sec.
Buses search: http://www.travelinesoutheast.org.uk/se/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=en&timeOffset=15
i lied, that was the single price. boo
His favorite band is Bon Jovi
He might be 'living on a prayer' this year...
I think thats the most underwhelming line up of the year.
Senna-Chandhok is underwhelming? I don't think so. Definitely not the Senna bit.
Hang on a minute... this is the iSport GP2 2008 lineup reunited!
Senna doesn't inspire me at all but I haven't really followed his career. I just know he hit a dog once.
Megabus?
Did he kick one though?
dont think so, the problem is silverstone is, when they put all the amazing public transport in for the grand prix, they made it aweful for the other 362 days of the year
So with the latest news on the FIA F1 list for 2010, what chance is there of Stefan GP taking part?
Also what will the impact be of Cosworth loosing a customer in USF1? Presumably USF1 won't have paid for engines for the whole 2010 season? So surely Cosworth are going to be hugely affected? That is unless Stefan GP buy USF1's grid place and use Cosworth engines, (is there still a grid place to buy given the new FIA F1 list not including USF1)??????
No Stefan. They are out.
oh dear god
I remember that accident - scary!!
Bruno S is a decent driver - he's no Ayrton, but probably closer to Heidfeld
I saw that on Danish TV and when he got back to the pits, the commentators could not believe what he was sayign (as if they translated it wrong)!
What about the impact on Cosworth? I haven't seen anything written anywhere about how having lost a customer will affect them
Good question - I've no idea how far along USF1 and Cosworth were. There was word they hadn't drawn an engine from them yet but that was just rumour. I'm sure Cosworth have contigencies for losing one team though.
The USF1 entry doesn't exist any more for 2010, btw.

Jon I don't understand? You can take the 88 from Northampton to Silverstone. 3 quid for as many journeys in a day as you want? Or am I missing something?
http://www.travelinesoutheast.org.uk/se/XSLT_TTB_REQUEST?language=en&command=direct&net=em&line=16088&sup=B&project=y08&outputFormat=0&itdLPxx_displayHeader=false
ooh I'd forgotten about Heidfeld. I'll miss him this year. I'd guess not as much as Rich though :D
http://www.stagecoachbus.com/northampton-dayrider-megarider.aspx
They have the minimum of three teams to make it viable (four if campospania turn up) - that should be enough to make it viable...
yeah but i have to get to northampton first. thats incredibly expensive
ahhhh.... right... It's the train bit that's expensive.
yeah, £35 if i go from MK or £40 something if i go from Northampton
To have two complete rookies in a car that hasn't been tested is rather a joke...
Chandhok seems unlikely to shine and I can't see Bruno living up to his surname...
However if Karun does well Vijay will look foolish....
But my eyes are looking West at present for the first news of the day ex Mexico...
I recall that they they needed 3 teams at a minimum for the numbers to work does this ring true with anyone else? They have HRT, Lotus, Virgin and Williams so presumably they will be ok, just dramatically down on profit
Peeps are having a field day with the new HRT stuff...
Menopausal grannies.... tres funny...
I think they should be fine. I think the Chandhok news means that the money from the Argentine government for USF1 will need replacing by somebody.
Without testing and with rookie drivers I think this team is going to be embarrassingly slow, certainly in Bahrain and probably for most of the year. They could be 2 or 3 sec down on Lotus/Virgin (in fairness to Lotus/Virgin they have been making up time lately).
I am glad Pechito didn't get an F1 seat as he was never in contention before USF-off... Chandhok is decent and Indian - did nothing special in GP2 but neither did Kobs...
So thats anywhere between 5-10 seconds off the pace?
Mastercard Lola anyone?
I reckon the HRT will be needing... HRT....
Reliability and speed will be pretty bad....
They'll make the 2008 Honda look good....
Although I haven't seen their paint job yet so it could be pretty....
Well Lotus and Virgin were running 5 seconds off in Barcelona, we don't know fuel loads of course. I'd say 7-10 for HRT in Bahrain. I'd say they'll claw it back with mileage but then the other teams will be improving too...
Yaayy, so we do get Super Aguri.
Afternoon all.
Probably why the Bahrain GP is running a longer layout – otherwise the leaders would be lapping the backmarkers before lap 10!
Yeah all I mean is that if they couldn't place him elsewhere USF1 may be getting sued.
I thought Lopez was getting the HRT reserve deal?
From my blog: http://f1numbers.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/consnod3.png and http://f1numbers.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/fclaps.png
The New boys are well off the pace - wouldn't want to be even further back than they are!
Ah yes, pluggety plug:
http://www.stuartcodling.com/2010/03/calling-planet-anderson/
Sospiri and Rosset were 12 seconds off the pace in qualifying and around 14-16 seconds off in practice if I remember correctly
Couple of plugs from me...
I researched drivers who can apply for the Superlicence. There are almost certainly some holes in it, but its a start, and the formatting is horrible at the moment. http://toomuchracing.com/superlicence/
Then there's the current week of the TMR Game which is open for another 23.5 hours :) http://toomuchracing.com/2010/03/03/tmr-game-week-6/
Ken and Peter aren't even speaking to each other? Blimey, that's quite a revelation!
Ooh - very good!
Thanks. Since these were the 'prepared' teams, it doesn't look good does it.. short-term anyway..
Hmmm...
need to sort out a new steering wheel for rFactor this week - scrounging cash together is fun!!
I think Lotus will do what Force India did last year as they have a good technical boss, decent drivers and cash. Something just feels right about the team.
Virgin? I think they will struggle, sadly. They may not even finish a race in the first half of the season.
Campospania? No chance.
What's your budget and where are you playing? some of us here have it too...
My budget's only about £30 and haven't got online yet - only a recent convert from the great GP3
Which wheels are you looking at? You can still get a decent one for that I think...
Let us know when you get going because there's some great mods and addons for that game.
You might want to check out iRacing too.... I am hooked by it!
tweedle dee has never known where tweedle dum was, and vice versa, for months
how often have you read "Ken's somewhere doing his thing"?
Good morning folks. I'm sure everyone has heard that Lada is sponsoring Renault now. Honestly I thought it was a joke and had to read the headline in my phone a few times.
It is shocking if they fell out like that though...
After the joke that is USF1, anything goes now!
I guess so. Lada sponsoring Renault sounds like the perfect April Fools joke.
belated ping: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/03/04/karun-chandhok-confirmed-at-hrt-formula-1/
sorry, got called away.
aww, yay!
http://twitter.com/RacecarEngineer/status/9944105740
I've put some add-ons already, but I'm just getting the hang of it really. It drives very differently to the Microprose games
was thinking of something like this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logic3-Red-Steering-Wheel-Pedals/dp/B000WOG8N2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1267710491&sr=1-1
Mr C... err... the sidepodcast twitterpage looks scarily like you are a schumi fansite!!!!
It took me a while to see the writing and realise somone wasnt playing a joke on you!
Well I don't know that one, but if it's compatible with the consoles too then that is a plus...
that is kinda the plan.
iRacing is awesome. I cant wait for the FW31 to be released.
What series are you doing on iRacing? I'm on a break from it but I'm still registered in the Skip Barber series.
hehe.... is it an 'evil' plan perchance?
Or have i missed something?
Last time i skipped the barbers Alison told me to i looked like a scruff! ...baboomchuk
not really. it rewards those that pay attention, i guess.
I'm doing the Skip Barber series (kinda like a Formula Ford), but I haven't got enough time at the moment so I end up practising for an hour on Monday Nights and then racing at a Gentleman's pace (but I still seem to do OK - 4th or 5th)...
It's really awesome being able to race online all the time and the racing is brilliant - everyone is really careful because of the safety ratings and I have loads of fun!
What do the saftey ratings mean?
it sounds like something i couldnt cope with!
I've only done one race in the Skippy. Like you, I dont have enough time to dedicate to it right now and I've been on a month and a half break from it. My race went ok, only one incident when I break checked someone (I was asking for it). My goals for that race were to finish, not wreck at T1 and not get lapped and I did all three so I felt decent about it.
I spent too much time with the Solstice =P
My only problem is that my machine is not overly fast and can struggle in races sometimes
Basically if you spin off or hit something/someone you get points deducted form your licence. Race cleanly and you earn points.
To progress to a higher licence you need to have competed in a certain amount of races and show that you are a safe driver. It's not too hard to do and it massively improves your driving because you learn when to push and when to be consistent.
I dare say it's taught me a bit of patience which I can use in other things like running or going to the gym too ;)
Safety ratings are subtracted and added with how safe you are on track. No going off course, bumping into people, spinning, hitting barriers and such will increase your safety rating. Doing the opposite and being a clot on the track will lower your safety rating. You need a safety rating of 3 or above to be eligible for a promotion in racing rank (meaning you can compete in higher series).
That is an achievement. Keep at it, once you get a hang of the Skippy you will see that it is a really fun car!
I spent as little time as possible - the worst thing about iRacing is that you have to start off in that horrible thing!
Is there a free program where you can record what's on your screen and talk about it? So i can talk about a website and go around the website and you can see and hear me?
Bad explanation I know but hopefully you understand?
If they didn't offer the FW31 in the future, I'd probably be racing in the TDi Series, but yea, the Skippy is very entertaining.
I didn't like the car on Laguna Seca, but the Solstice on Lime Rock I had a blast with =)
This TDi Series is a bit weird - a Diesel Road Car? Doesn't look that exciting when you consider there's no bumping allowed...
Actually you have a point - Lime Rock is lots of fun.
I must say I'm not a fan of Laguna either :(
T4 is a beast on the course. I can never carry proper speed on it with any car. Brake point on the corkscrew is also a pain.
Is that the turn before the run up to the corkscrew? You sort of chuck the car in and hold your breath...
Turn before the turn before the corkscrew. Left hand sweeper. I'm not sure I have the proper line for it yet. The turn before the last turn is also tricky, as your car gets very unpredictable in the pocket.
those 2 corners before the corkscrew are always very different on different games, its very annoying
It's OK to drive, the problem is that it's impossible to pass on - you end up taking big risks!
Thing is, iRacing has the right version as they laser scan the tracks. And the feel from the force feedback is INCREDIBLE - I can almost sense when the car is losing traction now...
Totally agree. After T3 is one of my fav pass points, as it's not a braking turn on the solstice, its just a brief throttle lift.
That's about the best place - or the run to the braking zone to the next turn...
It really is as close to getting in a real car as I've felt.
Argh, all this talk makes me want to get back on Lime Rock again... Too bad I travel with my job and my gear is a couple hundred miles away =/
Boo. Well, look me up when you get restarted, I'm taking a slow pace as it's expensive to upgrade all the time!
Same. I'm going to be sticking with the Skippy for a while, I'm still a D rank anyway. Maybe we can even get on the same grid for a race =)
Shoot me a PM (James Newman) so I can buddy you up.
Will do - look out for Gavin Brown in the Scandinavian CLub ;)
Sounds good =) I'm in the Virginia's.
Hey guys I just read Autosport ONLINE! Woooo!
It has got me super excited about the championship!
Question: for fantasy racers is there a way to check the driver prices before choosing between the two types of teams?
Hey Kostia,
I'm not sure - but you should check my post introducing the new rules in Fantasy Racers too: http://f1numbers.wordpress.com/2010/02/25/fantasy-racers-2010-introduction/
Hullo again. Have just got in from that meeting I mentioned this morning... am starting to want the need to curl up into a ball from the scope of this project :(
On the plus side, the meeting had Welsh Cakes.
Too late RubberGoat! Read that on the day the post was up! Love dwelling in numbers so keep the posts coming! :)
Cheers Mate :D
I'm not sure about that, but you can change your mind on your type of team you've gone with up until qualifying.
You chosen your team yet? I suspect its best to leave it until the friday afternoon -_-
Still thinking about it - TBH the blog posts have taken preference over everything else this week (including sleep)...
Huh... What about you? Chosen any type of team?
I haven't picked any drivers yet, but chose strategy 2.
More info about what we've done: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/01/30/fantasy-racers-panda-racing-2010/
The flexible one?
Pick drivers once and forget about it.
I think that might be the one most people pick...
wheres hte fun in that!
Ooooh crazy times. I have woken up and it appears to be February again....
It was up until about mid-day.
give it a refresh :D
Sounds like you got Sony'd
Oooh okay :D
Refresh solves many woes. Was it like that last night? I must have been too tired to notice....
what have i missed?
bit of a date fail, 4th of March was 4th of Feb
oooh, i so wish it was.
it makes me want to join and i can't afford it!
It took about 12 hours for anyone to notice.
btw on the Superlicence thing I've done, I plan to tidy it up and then blog a summary so if you're thinking of commenting you may want to wait until then.
Will do - that's a very useful post. I think Jon W should look at it too ;)
oh dear.
should i may the titles on doohickey bigger?
I didn't notice either and I wrote the thing.
see what happens why i go to bed early?
My excuse is I work in accounts and I spend the day looking at the previous month.
what did i do now?
You should read Pat's post about the superlicence eligible drivers because (a) it contains Feeder Series drivers and (b) has a list at the end where Pat is unsure of eligibility...
ah right. i have read it. however, i am unsure of the wording about gp2, all hte otehr series it says top 3 or 4 or champion, but gp2 just saying final classification, does that mean the series or champion?
Oooh Christine, check this out! http://www.youdrivewhat.com/?p=1836
For goodness sake.
I wonder if it has a tape dispenser? :D
Ohhhh my.
Ah I didn't catch that. I'll check the one on the FIA site later
now that's just wrong
novelty office items - good
novelty personal transport - bad
:-)
i lie, it says gp2, gp2 asia and fnippon, but the others it has specifics
Sooo amusing that Michael wasn't automatically eligible for a Super Licence.... but came in under the wire in the " f " category.....
theoretically he could have got one under "By exception, if supported by the Safety Commission, the FIA World Motor Sport Council may approve the issue of the Super Licence to persons judged by the Council to have met the intent of the qualification process." but tis funny
If the safety commission were doing their job properly they might have had some concerns about him
They gave Yuji Ide a licence....im not sure they could not give schu one ;)
they soon realised the error of their ways
You don't have an Essex alter-ego called Tina? The windscreen sticker is missing. Though that would mean he's Mr T and that doesn't quite fit either :)
I am from Essex....
That is not Essex :D ...
....
its not white
I think they were just giving them to everyone that day.
"Let us know how your Thursday is going"
Do we have a sidepodclassification for way beyond rrrrrrrrubish?
Yes.
It is known as a Thursday
Pretty much. Luckily Friday's for me are "half days" as I have to travel on those days back home. The only thing I get to look forward to this weekend is moving through. WOOO!
I remembered the baby pandas this week if that helps: http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/03/04/baby-panda-thursday-49/
it helped a bit
can you train panda's to eat people who annoy you?
Well we learnt this week that they eat bones, so maybe.
cool
not sure if my patience will hold out long enough to train one though
i learnt this week that if you take a picture of a panda, the colours reverse in the picture
fact
pluggy: http://www.f1minute.com/2010/03/04/slot-car-racing/
ooh i love the picture
The BBC's non-vote for classic grand prix is now available for you to not-vote on... here
Bah.
I thought it was actually gonna be slot cars racing!
:)
must admit to suffering the same disappointment
what are they after, comments?
certainly not votes
Too bad I can't vote for Donnington 93.
I've seriously considered getting a scalextric set with some of my bonus money, but I decided to buy other stuff instead.
Maybe next year.
its like writing an email, a really long one refering to the attachment, and then saying how important the attachmant is and i hope you think its as important as i do...
and then forgetting to attach it.
:)
yesterday lou pointed out they spelt a certain driver "jensen". the beeb are on a roll.
you can't vote for any GP :-)
lol, they mention Phoenix 90. I was at that race as I grew up in Phoenix. 89, 90 and 91 I was at the US GP.
Dear Diary.
I win.
Woop.
JDawg.
nb. i fought the computer and i won.
hoorah
no, it's a not-vote
1. you write your non-vote in the comments
2. benson then adds up all the non-votes
3. then benson chooses his own personal favourite, completely ignoring the non-votes
(although many think that he simply skips stage 2)
he'll pick the one that requires the least editing.
e.g. one that doesn't feature james allen.
i thought he already said no ITV races? there weren't any in his choices, either.
hello all.
Hey Jim! I am jealous, I would have loved to see the Senna-Alesi battle in person, I was a huge Jean Alesi fan in the 90's! How was Phoenix 90??
If you never want to do that again: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/11629/never-forget-to-send-an-email-attachment-in-outlook/
they're cut from the selection at an early stage
i think he's rooting for south africa this week
Hot =P
It's a street circuit so most views were very limited, mine was no exception. I remember having fun, but that was about it, as I was 9, 10 and 11 when I went to those Grand Prix's. I knew a bit about the drivers from hearing my mother talk about Formula 1, but I didn't have full understanding of who they were and who they would become.
Mav, rather curious. :) Why does your quoting work the other way round?
Is anyone else as tired as I am to be told this will be the most exciting season ever ...
Now I do recognise I am biased and my ennui about the approaching season may not be universally shared but I am extremely tired about being told that it will be mega...
It may be but we haven't a clue...
Williams may run off into the sunset with one/twos in every race so we'd be left hoping for handbags at dawn at Ferrari; sulky squabbles at Macca; neck bolt failures at Mercedes and HRT being lapped on the formation lap...
Just don't keep telling me that is certain to be great....
A Williams resurgence would actually be... well, mega. :D
What I'm saying is, short of a repeat of the breakaway threat last year, any outcome would probably be awesome for the sport. And given preseason testing, it won't be a runaway either.
It's all I can hope for this year....
Please let Ferrari, Macca, Mercedes fail.....
Even if that did happen (and that's unlikely), RBR would win the titles - easily.
And whilst I like Red Bull that would never be mega... just expected....
I forgot my attachment
Where is the satisfaction in teams failing? Isn't it better to beat them at the top of their game?
you are supposed to tell them which of the five they've picked you want to see. then they'll put short highlights of all of them online, and longer highlights of one of them.
this is going to be the dullest formula 1 season ever, in fact, save yourself the pain and don't watch it because you just won't believe how bad it is going to be
(there, feel better now?)
It does?
:)
Hmmm...
I think you mistake my motivation...
Let's just say that Sweden was the first ever rally I attended and I'm off to Jordan despite being offered a holiday in Malaysia....
Yup. For example:
You quoted this:
mine would look like:
if that made any sense.
This livery is a HRT breaker
http://twitpic.com/16ke08
YES...
That's it...
Mav you are a star....
Hey nice one. Looks interesting,
:)
okay, how are you nesting them?
the color scheme actually isn't half-bad...
i usually just click the outermost quote box (if it exists). if not, i click on the name of the commenter to quote the whole comment.
Someone had some old tins of paint left over, felt sorry for them and donated...
oh p-lease...
http://twitter.com/andrewbensonf1/status/9978189208
someone clearly fell over whilst holding a tin of grey paint
hmmm... was it exclusive, really?
ah, I can see the difference in there now, a very subtle difference
think I'll stick with Mav style to be different
FAIL.
they arent called Campos
#clearbluebenson
:D you do that manually, though?
Benson is giving the Beeb a really bad name...
funnily enough, he seems to be following a fake ross brawn account...
i select the quotes I want to use separately
all the difference is is which quote you put inside which
The 5Live tweet says
"Hey everyone please follow the newest driver on the grid @karunchandok ! Top guy and very handy in a car! "
Have they checked his record?....
Never higher than 10th in 3 seasons of GP2 and that in the year when Senna (his team-mate) was second ..he took three goes at English F3....
There was a reason Vijay didn't offer him a seat....
I think Chandhok will be a bit of a surprise. Not in that he will be Kobi-quick, but that he could actually be... well, decent.
it's got a Bridgestone logo and... ah...
It depends how he got there. He might have been consistently 9th or 10th, or he might have been scoring podiums and non-finishes.. I have a feeling it was the latter.
it has an Embratel logo (Senna's sponsor)
It was already featured last year.
Somewhere on the F1Rejects Forum there is a list of all of them...
Well Kobi at least won GP2 Asia...
OK Journeyer... I'll have a side bet that Chandhok will be totally out of his class...
The only problem is we probably won't know because the HRT will spend more time being lapped than any other car....
Ooh but don' t forget that they are right because they can't compete with other websites, are understaffed and break the news first. We should be grateful for it's existence ;)
You never know, I still think Campos will be last but not by too much.
Hey everyone
I think I would rate senna higher

'Italians' and 'organised' aren't in the same Universe {Comment #24}
I'm starting to doubt "British" - or maybe "anyone" - and "organised" are in the same universe. I've just been to a work placement interview and they were astonished that I'd remembered to bring a copy of my CV and my qualifications folder with me...
Just the same as the Kolles Audi in Le Mans series...
A sign for the future, maybe?
Of course. As predicted, Benson is always right and you can't fault the BBC for breaking stories - Eddie Jordan is always right after all ;)
Only in Italy do you go to one counter to pay for your coffee, receive a ticket, then go to the coffe counter to exchange said ticket for your beverage {Comment #26}
Sounds like my local supermarket's delicatessen counter...
Mostly mid field but 6 retirements, 1 DNS, 3 podiums including 1 win....
The win was in the sprint that he started on pole having come 8th in the feature race....
oh p-lease...

Has it occurred to Andrew that most of us are more worried about whether Campos/HRT makes it to Bahrain than who will be in the car at that point?
Hmmm...
That doesn't say a lot...
Nice guy and keen but....
Another fab invention, the 'iLuv' iPod dock has an alrm clock with an attachment that you can put under your pillow that will vibrate when your alarm goes off in the morning {Comment #37}

see everyone later perhaps, I must do the Thursday Thought since I suggested it...
Important lesson for every rally driver: Don't leave your car unattended at a place it is not supposed to be parked. Otherwise you have to waste a few ours trying to convince the police to give it back to you. Isn't that right Mr Hirvonen? {Comment #86}
Oops!
Quite erratic then, thanks. He's good enough for a no.2 seat.
Purrlease...
Not in F1...
There are a ton of Brits (and others) with better stats....
How can Ken Anderson say loosing funding in mid-January was the problem? If that was the case, sureley they would have a car just about ready to go? {Comment #89}
If they were properly on schedule, they should have had a car ready to attempt its crash test by then. Even if they were doing complete brinkmanship on the job, they should have been about half-way through building the car...
Did I miss a link in the original post Alianora?...
Nice to see you're a ray of sunshine today ;)
Train companies are silly and only release tickets 90 days in advance, they do not cater for the likes of me who like to book 200 days in advance. {Comment #115}
That's partly because the timetables in the UK get changed two or three times a year (May is the next timetable change date, I believe) so attempting to issue tickets for the other side of a timetable change (possibly two in your case) is tricky. If the train companies don't know what they're doing yet, any attempt to suggest to you that they are otherwise would be misleading.

Thank you. Still can't believe Mikko did something that daft though...
No worries...
I see our Mr Wilson was also mentioned... similar issue?... and was this in Mexico?...
Umm, I'd advise against shortening RubberGoat to that...
Wow - someone linked to and translated my testing posts in Spanish! http://safety-...-de-f1-temporada-2010 {Comment #127}
Nice one, RG!
You mean you aren't the one and same?....
Nope ... He likes Timo ... I like Lewis ;)
Umm, I'd advise against shortening RubberGoat to that... {Comment #522}
Would RG and RubberGoat be two different people then? Sorry!
Time for tea and coffee cake...
Alia, you must have known that???
Oh dear I was about to commiserate with him but you need it far more....
Some of the driver tried to take a look at the Mexico stages by foot. The police stopped Wilson as he was getting out of his car and told him he can't park there and when he was driving away he saw the police tow away Mikko's car (with some of his recce notes)
It wasn't his competition car but still ... :)
Whats wrong with Timo like?
He may not be stellar but he's not terrible, and his nationality will open up the Indian market even more than Force India has. Important before their first race. I say let him in and if he sinks, so be it.
Comiserate? At least I get to see my driver in F1 this year :P
If he's not Kimi he doesn't get any Snowcat love...
He's a nice guy....
Ummm....
Just thinking of what else to say....
Now you are being cruel...
And it's coMMiserate,,,,
sounds like you need something a lot stronger than that!
i think i may have to unfollow scott speed. i like the guy tweeting, but it really is waaaay too much information.
Can't think of anything stronger than coffee cake except perhaps....
Ice cream....
Volume or type of content...
type.
i encourage access to more information about drivers. there has to be a line though.
I know - Chrome told me I spelled it incorrectly. I decided to be aloof and include it anyway ;)
Oh sweet lord. I really didn't need to know that!
That'll teach you...
But I have to say my interest is piqued as to the nature of the "too much information"... or was it just his sock colour?....
or the other.
have removed him from my list.
I think thats the most underwhelming line up of the year {Comment #283}
I'd agree. Both of them would probably be worth having as team-mates in a F1 team in a couple of years. Both of them could probably do a decent job as the "youth" half of a "youth/experience" pairing this year.
To have both in a youth/youth combo? I can see this stunting both their careers because neither will get the opportunity to develop as they should. It will probably also end one of their F1 careers prematurely when the team realises this and gets an experienced driver to help out whichever appears to be better.
Alia, you must have known that??? {Comment #528}
At one point I probably did. Then I forgot :( Hence the apologies.
Now I shall start thinking of every goat that I come across as aloof....
Can you imagine if that was an F1 driver saying that? There'd be outrage, I tells ya!!!!
Whats wrong with Timo like? {Comment #531}
I have a feeling what's wrong with Timo is that he's stuck in a car that keeps falling to pieces. Hopefully the car will be sorted soon...
No, I should apologise - I removed my name from here because I'm usually on here at work and I don't want my colleagues to see it all the time...
I wonder if driver management will be a la Toro Rosso.... or even better....
Flav...
No, I should apologise - I removed my name from here because I'm usually on here at work and I don't want my colleagues to see it all the time... {Comment #551}
That's a good reason.
Still... ...I'm supposed to remember these things!
I wonder if driver management will be a la Toro Rosso.... {Comment #552}
Eek!
or even better....

*hides behind computer chair*
Heh Mr Goat...
Your Lewis is going to be on 5Live after 7.30pm this evening....
He thinks he could have "handled" Alfonso better....
The mind boggles... enjoy....
According to him, he destroyed Alonso when they were team mates.
Perhaps he is rethinking this statement... now that Daddy isn't around....
Might be a good idea, let sleeping dogs be and what not.
If he was leaving sleeping things lie he wouldn't bring it up at all I guess...
No doubt the media will have the interview in the morning for those without access to 5 Live...
benson's posted it already, hasn't he?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8550027.stm
surprised he hasn't claimed he's predicting what will be said ;)
From Mr ScrabsF1
http://scarbsf1.wordpress.com/2010/03/04/hrt-dallara-cosworth-first-impressions/
just reading that. he's quick off the mark :)
Fair enough. Perhaps he's trying to smooth over his initial statement of "I can be friends" in regards to Button?
Abit to quick going by how big the image is lol
Oh and from Mr Senna on Twitpic
http://twitpic.com/16kt1s
I like it.
And his new helmet that I seem to have seen before...
http://twitpic.com/16kthr
It shouldn't work, but it does.
Are you watching Mercedes?
hehe
I don't think Mercedes can see them, given how far apart they'd be on the grid... :D
The colour of the car is abit odd, and I can't imagine it will work to well on a racing track. I'd expect that to change though, and the car design itself looks rather nice.
I have an update on the USF1 toaster front. Stay tuned!
On a different subject totally, here is a new video of NASCAR in Gran Turismo 5 for PlayStation 3. The video isn't great quality, but it looks well done for NASCAR
http://www.gtplanet.net/new-gran-turismo-5-nascar-video/
These new GT5 videos are much, much better though with gameplay footage from the Nürburgring Nordschleife
http://www.gamersyde.com/stream_gran_turismo_5_tokyo_and_nurburgring_60_fps-14515_en.html
Beat me to it!
It's a bit of everything innit?
It could blend in with the track so no-one notices them....
Good point. I remember DC and Brundle talking about the color of the car making a big difference in being able to see them in the side mirrors because of how much they vibrate
Lol Hopefully that is not the case. Campos was always the one of the four new teams that I wanted to see do well, so HRT shall be my new underdog to support
Oh don't worry - I am sure he will say something stupid...
This is all very 'Midland', isn't it?
Just saw the pictures for the HRT - might be a little difficult to tell it and the Lotus apart at times
Evening SPCs everywhere!
I did a pilot episode of the podcast I was going to last night, but after hearing what I sound like on recording, I think I'll stick to writing...
lol... Everyone thinks they sound weird when they hear their own voice. When I hear my own voice on a record I sound like Seth Rogan.
oooh! no! do more!!
seriously, everyone sounds rubbish on their first trys (no offence)
you get better so quickly when you start! so just od more!!
Indeed, I was surprised when I sounded so, northern.
I used to be in a "band" a couple of years ago - you get used to your own voice kind of quickly if you stay at it.
I sound a cross between Sean Connery and Phil Mitchell... :(
I dunno who Phil Mitchell is, but if you sound like Connery, you're good to go. That dude is suave as all.
Hmmmm I'm undecided. Should I do laundry or write emails to stupid universities.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmGXg0hWV0Y
He's the first one that talks....
East end of London kinda guy, rough, not that I watch Eastenders or anything.
none taken, but i have no jingles, no co-host (I'm struggling for things to say on my own) and limited experience. It sounds awful. I now know how Christine feels when we flick through to early 2007 in the archives...
I obviously lead a super exciting life!
jingles and co-hosts wont help YOU though. just keep practicing
you can do the laundry anytime (even at uni), but oppurtunites may only come up once. It's email time!
Uh... charming!
It's just practice.
very :P
if they are stupid universities... (insert 1 inappropriate joke and 1 nice thing)
a) you'll fit right in
or
b) you shouldnt go there...
Hah. I think the sensible solution is to put the laundry in then do the emailing. Both seems too much like work though....
I'm struggling on my own...it's harder than it looks...
LOL! Yea, mine is going pretty good right now too. I'm doing line counts in audit files for network events on our boundary switches and routers. Action packed!
Ugh.
And I had this idea where I do a weather forecast about the race, such as showers of debris and winds of change etc.
I want to sound like Sean COnnery!
Sounds like a good idea.
It also depends if you enjoy it or not. I still hate listening to myself, just ask Mr C. But I enjoy the process so I keep on doing it.
I know, right? Instead I sound like a fat comedy actor...
Get a butler...
Doesn't everyone?...
+1
I've discovered something very interesting about Benson's predictive talents...
Two days ago, the article here http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8544246.stm
contained the Eddie Jordan quote: "My understanding is that they will be in Bahrain with ex-champion Jacques Villeneuve driving."
Funny, that prediction seems to have been mislaid
I am sure Benson will say "as predicted..." still...
But they are in Bahrain, and err, we don't know who drove some of the trucks or planes there, might have been an ex-truck champion Jaques Villeneuve?
I should perhaps make clear that the entire article that was available on that url has been replaced with the current one
This story that I linked to earlier: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/81831
The Guy on Facebook that (used) to work there replied:
@XXX, it's all lies. Amazing, sad actually.
@YYY, it's shameful how far behind we were. That's all I'll say.
Well look at those times: http://www.pettersolberg.com/html/2010/03/04/shakedown-mexico/
Go on Seb! (Ogier)
Citroen look good for tomorrow then ;)
KIMI!!!!
I need Raikkonen to bury Block
My four fantasy WRC drivers 1-4 :) Sure those times mean about as much as F1 testing times do though.
Actually I forgot Mexico was the first round that Ken Block was taking part in...don't see any sign of him in those times though. Betting that will be the case at the end of the rally aswell.
Hello sidepodcast. I have returned from exile. BT decided after two days to give me a phone line back
That's unbelievable...
Totally fantastic...
Except for Ford... and what happened to Jari Matti... I know he's under orders to stay behind Mikko but that's ridiculous...
But shakedown's not like one of the stages in anger where the pace notes are really, really key...
Even so that's pretty good for a guy who hasn't even practised on gravel in the car whereas Ogier did 2 days practice after Sweden....
Thanks Kathi I am now a very happy Snowcat....
Luckily for Raikkonen, he wont have to dig his car out in mexico.
I thought there was a distinct lack of space news round here. Welcome!
Looks like the first proper stage of the raly starts in 5 hours
http://www.wrc.com/jsp/index.jsp?lnk=400
Hello there stranger ;)
Ah the joys of BT...good to see they are as quick as ever.
You've got to give him full marks for doing the rough stuff in Sweden and letting his co-driver direct the traffic....
Best make up for that immediately then. There is a satellite launch on NASA TV sometime before o just after midnight UK time.
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/GOES-P/main/index.html
Actually he's supposed to get in front of Mikko so he can clean the track for him after day one
No it starts tomorrow morning... this evening there's just a starting presentation of drivers and teams as they weren't allowed to drive round the town....
Awww thanks Jon!
I just can't be bothered emailing them. I sent a few off the other day and have received some hillariously pretentious responses!
Hello Steven
Enormous respect for that. I was so surprised to see Kimi, of all folks, digging out his own car.
Oh yes... I remember now...
Hmmm...
Thanks. I am totally out of touch
Hi Kathi. Do you expect Kimi to be better on this rally?
Agreed.
His time was way off on the last stage due to him getting stuck in the snow. No snow to get stuck in this time around.
But no snow to stop him launching himself way off the road either. I think he will do better though
I know this stage wasn't in anger, but I seem to remember him last year either driving brilliantly or making a stupid mistake. Wasn't very consistent, at least in the rallies I got to watch.
At least one spot (Marcus isn't in Mexico ;))
Here's the story off wrc on that...
http://wrc.com/jsp/index.jsp?lnk=101&id=7073&desc=I'm+ready+to+go+first+on+the+road+to+help+Mikko,+says+Latvala
:D
I remembered not to put him in my fantasy rally team.
lol... Good call.
Have people seen the new OK Go video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybUFnY7Y8w
I assume I missed all the HRT jokes. Hispania sounds too much like Hispaniola to me and makes them sound like a pirate team
I was in Sweden and he was rather too neat most of the time in the tricky parts...
That was probably a pace notes thing...
It was also difficult to see where the ditches were so sometimes a narrow bank obscured a large ditch... and I mean large... if you stepped into one unawares you almost disappeared as the snow bank gave way underneath you.......
it depends if they like f1...
now we just need a ninja team and we'd be all set.
I'm back! Bacon sarnies ahoy!
I think that HRT is seen as a menopause issue rather than being piratical....
Their videos have become more epic than the songs themselves! :)
They do as they are told....
This year mine likes...
Rallying...
they're still Hispamos to me...sounds like a Brazillian football player...
That is what I meant by the HRT jokes. Combine that with Hispania and I have a picture of a group of 70 year old female pirates
I should do auditions...if anyone comes...
I'll give it another go, and then post it on YT.
I don't believe it.
i admire their attention to detail.
It reminds me of the Honda cog commercial.
you don't believe the video?
Since they ruined my post on Adie's F1 Weekender (http://www.f1tailpipe.com), I refuse to call them anything other than Campos.
true, but that didn't have to keep to the beat of a pop record.
Or Compost....
Hellooooo
I was getting at the fact of only a short life of podcastory...is that a word?
Damn you brackets
http://www.f1tailpipe.com
I take an element of blame for that - if it wasn't so late it would have been ok!
USF1's first toaster design is not quite up to standard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRq_SAuQDec
awesome headping.
It's impossible!!
Still, I blame Campos for it all.
I do believe that's my first one :D
by FSM that's one of my favorite Red Dwarf bits ever.
"So, you're a Waffle man!"
am watching the 1080p version. i see no edits, no cuts or no green screen.
the guy at the beginning looks convinced he's wasting his time.
let's blame it all on Campos...it gives McLaren a break...
Clearly there is a Green Screen involved then ;)
I'm not sure I'm seeing what your seeing. All I got is something about his wife's coat being Burberry.
aww bless you!!
Don't let him think anything else then!
There's no way that all those elements would just work no matter how much you practice. It only takes a domino being a fraction off and the whole thing is screwed. I don't believe it. Life is not that kind!
Just use your imagination!
isn't it just about how much effort you put in? eventually it'll come together.
Gah...stupid iPod. The home button's packed up so I can't see the video without quitting this...and then I'll have to turn it off and on to get back to here. Effort much...
I'm happy to go with it if everyone wasn't trying to tell me it was real.
^^^^^^ +1
"What accident?" "The accident involving me, the toaster, the waste disposal, and the 14lb lump hammer!" "Why that was no accident, that was first degree toastercide!"
So Ken Anderson is Mr. C? ;)
hardest job of all must be the cameraman. if they knock anything it's ruined and even if it all comes together... if they miss anything it's ruined.
hehe!
I had to watch a video about the Co-Op today. I didn't get it (probably because someone's head was in the way. I didn't sound that interesting though...
This is the only Ken Anderson I know. MIIIIIIISSSSSTTTEEEEERRRRRRR ANDERSON!!!!
How do you know it's Ken? ;)
although the bit where they talked about a landmine advert from the 1990s was quite interesting (if not quite disturbing...)
Coz Ken is his name!
(Anderson!)
I think Barbie should give him the push...
Fantastic!
some background:
- It took about a month and a half of very intense work, with people on-site all the time
- 55-60 people worked on the project in all
- 30 or more people to help reset the machine after each run
- Even with all those people helping, resetting the whole machine took close to an hour
- The video was shot by a single Steadicam
- It took more than 60 takes, over the course of two days, to get it right
awe and then some
I've started listening to all my podcasts at double speed, but am listening to the two new asides with joe at normal speed so I can understand him.
It now sounds like everyone is talking at half speed :)
*faints*
Did you like issue 2 of the F1Weekender? Easier to read than the first one?
Mr C...I appreciate your OK Go facts. Good stuff fact fans!!
12 teams. 12 cars. 24 race drivers. 96 tyres. Let battle commence.
:)
Solution for the relatively rubbish Ford times...
It doesn't like swimming...
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/81852
really good work chap.
ummm, not to pick holes... but they'll need a lot more than 96.
and more than 12 cars...
apparently i've fallen behind on some form of slang the kids use...
Excellent - thank you :)
count your lucky stars. i'm bleaching my brain as we speak.
You need to read back a couple of tweets...
Although it is not recommended.
actively discouraged.
I don't think I'll bother
Hmm...ITV are about to show a programme called 'Internet My Life'
I am so glad I don't have ITV!
Yeah, it's not what I thought.
oh good.
That way you won't see all the mean stuff we said about you.
. o O ( did I type that out loud? ) ;)
What is it then?
MFC Ping: http://mediafuturechange.com/2010/03/04/this-too-shall-pass/
i've been asking myself that same question for years
I have fixed flash.
F1WE is now readable online!
http://bit.ly/9oJrGQ
I don't know. Boredom made me switch it off 30 seconds in.
you did what adobe couldn't?
oh...
:)
Nobody can fix what Adobe breaks. We've been over this already. :P
This time next week it will be F12010 eve.
That excites me.
44 per driver, and 12 have to be given back after practice. So 1056 tyres.
I've had a long day at work, sue me. Still more cars than USF1 managed. :P

11. BLOCK. Ford Focus RS WRC 08. 3:04.6 (from wrc.com)

I love it. "Sport on please, don't drift"
JB "Err...I'm a F1 driver"
Haha
LOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Erm, lou can also look at my number 5 of my liveries review:
http://northernwaffler.wordpress.com/2010/03/04/top-5-2010-f1-liveries/
Harsh, Chandok's isn't too noticable.....
Actually........ I've just realised that this is technically correct. There are 12 car designs on the grid. ;)
11.
Used to be a lot worse!
wow.. my headping just went mental.. hi all.
I would love it if Block managed a top 10 finish.
Anyone else wondering who decided that HRT's car should be the colour of the road? It's just going to cause havok with the side mirrors and collisions, or parhaps this was a stealthy plan?
Either way it looks a bit like last years brawn livery, just in reverse.
You still think that Torro Rosso looks too like a Red Bull? It's a bit like saying the Mercedes at launch looked like the Brawn.
Why change what works well? That Torro Rosso that raced towards the end of last season wasn't exactly so. ;)
:)
yes. because it is.
No, it isn't.
The Torro Rosso will break down less, the drivers will crash it more, Alguersuari will STILL drive it through the Red Bull pit, but it will still be STR5. ;)
you honestly think that both teams came up with the same new nose design at the same time, individually?
You honestly think that Benetton and Ferrari weren't running traction control in 1994? ;)
I wouldn't put it past STR phoning up newey for a little advice here and there about building the STR5.
?
You honestly think a pear can be compares with a lightbulb? :D
me neither.
Sharp
Technical innovation can happen at the same time. For all we know, the designs were passed "under the radar". Prove that the nose designs are exactly the same and I'll drop it.
Glad to see it is working
Same shape... :D
Err... Adrian.... where do the flappy bits attach to the round bits? You said it was like Lego...
well, there are only 12 WRC cars so his chances aren't too bad.
and pushrod rear suspension that works with a double diffuser
if you were didi and you were paying for both teams, you'd insist some sharing continued, right?
that too :)
ssshhhh....
Benetton were but I don't remember any rumours about Ferrari.
I'm pretty sure the reply would be:
"Guys I told you before you're new to this, you start with duplo, then mega blocks and in a couple of years we'll let you try lego"
Of course - why let one team go down the drain like that?
It will be a transitional thing and this year they will be building Red Bull kits.
:D
The better he does, the more likely it is that the WRC will start getting covered in the states. As of now I have to wait until the coverage hits a torrent site and get it that way.
because that's what they agreed. a one year hiatus in order to get the STR house in order.
Why don't i live in sandwich! lol. also... why walkers crisps?... why him? oh goodness.. poor Jenson lol
Hopefully this won't reflect his future at McLaren as much as the Alonso - Hamilton advert.
I
haha :D
alright.. no need to shout so loudly :P
I'm just amazed there's a town named after one of the greatest foods ever invented.
It's the other way around isnt it?
lol :)
*facedesk*
When a FacePalm just isn't enough.
;)
Right...I need to vamoosh gang.
May pop back later.
I feel very pleased to say that I have made my first donation to Sidepodcast.
You guys give so much it was hard not to. There will be more each month as I get paid. :)
evening everyone :)
Evening Giggles. :)
you sir are a leg.end.
a supersized leg.end.
sir.
Careful how you word that..... :D
Oh yeah I meant to say, I promised a donation the other day but I'm having to wait until pay day (Friday).
Aww, yay, thank you :)
hey giggles
I deplore those of you that listen on a regular basis, and are able to, donate something to these lovely folk. They drove back to SPC towers at 1am last weekend! No WONDER they were so tired. :D
better that than a leg.ard ;)
Evening Alex
I like Legard, but my God he makes it hard to watch F1 sometimes....
I was trying to do a you tonight and code... But I get up too early for that kind of thing I think... I need to sleep until about 11 or something (is that right?)
hey you :)
Mr Roy
*cough* five live commentry.. *cough*
That was meant to be Lou... but I guess it still works!
Legard is a bit like Mr C crossed with Murray Walker on several packets of sugar and caffeine.
Mr C saying 'one more day' in the other thread prompted a flashback to this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIbXvaE39wM&feature=fvst
You could do what I once did. Sleep through an entire day you get up at midnight or something the next day and ask "what did I miss?"
best coding happens between 1am and 4am. fact.
I would say I remember the severe tiredness he caused from singapore, but I were too busy sleeping.
May give him another chance in 2010 but we'll see... maybe when Ant isn't around... but even then, Crofty!!
Not the same without Ant. :(
+1, the man's a genius.
Are you sure deplore is the word you're looking for? ;)
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/deplore
Rally news.
Neil Cole presents the 1hr highlights on Dave each Sunday. He's on Twitter (but he's also a stand-up comedian so he sometimes says rude stuff away from the rally) and he brings news from Mexico:
Kimi in constant pain with post-op rib/spine problem; Ken Block soaking up advice from other WRC drivers like a sponge; HOT!
*cough* daily
and coffee? Coffee and chips used to work for me
This has probably been posted but I've only just seen it on twitter - F1 drivers impersonatng their cars :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZ06HTUxbKc
I give up. I really do. I might be good with numbers but I can never get the doohickey :(
Just for note, I tried to click that too see what it was and my virus scanner went nuts. It says there's a trojan on the site?
I've been up since half 5. Don't make me beat you with a rubber mallet.
although Massa appears to just do a cat
can i recommend ye olde commenting? it's quite good, and getting better all the time.
Are you sure mallet is the word you are looking for :D
But then I miss out on all the other threads!
For me it is the end of my day too... around 4 to 8pm... I'm just on a different shift ;)
Always check the thread before hitting Post Comment.
I fall over on a different issue and that's straying off-topic. Wonder what group I got that from :)
Not if you do it from the front page. :)
Plus there's, y'know, Live Commenting Live Thing.
yeah, that's true. there is no answer then, we'll simple have to shoot you.
I hope not...
I'm instantly reminded of the Monty Python Cheese Shop sketch....
Ummm... Bee Gees?
Nuke him from space, it's the only way to be sure.
More than one tab?
At a Pub in London on Tue 6th April perhaps?
ooh, your source code looks suspicious, chap.
Yeah I tried again and it was stopped a second time. My computer can be a bit funny. I do have a very good virus scanner though.
That's how tired I am!
i dunno, there's some weird javascript eval stuff on the site.
Yikes
ummm... yeah... I don't know about that... Looking now..
looks like a wordpress hack to me?
I don't even know what that is, just thought I'd bring it to your attention :)
uh uh uh s.....
Nearly gave it away
Yup... Me too...
As soon as he said it I got it ;)
bugger :(
Oh yes.
I went to a web security seminar a little while back. This looks very typical.
Nice find Alison.
what are you using Alison?
&RG
Might be worth recounting your TMR team...
Just goes to prove that you don't need to spend ages writing a beautifully crafted thought out post if you can say it in seven letters
Kapersky Internet Security.
It's better than anything I've ever used before. My dad gave me a subscription I think.
never had any problems in all my years with blogger...
Um, oops.
Cheers Sebastian, this is what happens when you only get Maths once in a week.
you forget to count to 10?
wasn't self hosted though?
I think wordpress is a pretty big target Alex. Bit like Microsoft.
He counted up to 11 :D
indeed it was.
blogger can be self hosted?
Nope, just missed a guy off. Confused myself with my opening sentence.
20% off all garage doors! http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/03/garagedooradopt.jpg
It could. Until next month when it can't which is why I was suddenly forced to decide on a new host for gamboling. Sofaf1.com is still on blogger self hosted.
:-)
Well spotted, I hadn't got around to reading them yet.
He might have said he's going for a 6-4 split between NASCAR and WRC... and then picked 9 drivers.
#SorryRG
had no idea.
however, wordpress self host is the most awful platform in the world. nothing else comes close.
Am switching to my laptop. My desktop makes waaaaaaaaay too much noise for a Pentium 4......
We literally had this conversation about a month ago :)
I am now really annoyed because I need something that means I can run gamboling safely and still have regular e-mail.
I had no idea this stuff was so hard. Would have thought some company had it all sorted by now.
whats wrong with wordpress (non-geek speak please :D )
you said you used ftp. i assumed you uploaded files to googles servers.
is the google thing a no go?
Happens to the best of us....
it's really, really easy to hack.
Since the topic came up, one last plug and this time I'll include a note of explanation. ;)
If anyone would like to play a game featuring more than one racing series (F1, IRL, WRC, NASCAR, Le Mans) I have one on my blog. Just pick 10 drivers every week. You don't have to have one from each so you can specialise on the ones you know.
This week is WRC and NASCAR and you can enter here:
http://toomuchracing.com/2010/03/03/tmr-game-week-6/
F1 and IndyCar are next week. Best of luck!
Plenty of other games around of course and I'm off to check to my Fantasy Rally team...
Well for example I have written a nice app that will do the pole poll for SofaF1 this year... but I can't host it anywhere on the sofaf1 domain if I move to hosted wordpress. Now I don't seem to have any option on this. Which seems to be really rubbish.
Gee, does that put my blog up **** creek, or is Wordpress MU a bit better then?
explains why you're so anti-it, is there anyway to make it a bit more safe?
understood. there isn't an easy answer to that, short of sticking the blog in an iframe and pointing that to x.wordpress.com or whatever.
At least with the hosted wordpress on wordpress.com, you don't have to worry about doing the PITA upgrade.
yep. pick another platform or use wordpress.com
But that is not a solution. That is rubbish.
nope, that's the same.
e.g?
But that's on another server. Dammit, I gotta find the host and get him to upgrade it fast...
it is a solution. it's a rubbish solution.
it's also why i've spend 6 months writing a blogging platform and still have another 6 months of work to do.
honestly, i have no idea. i know how bad wordpress is, and that's as far as i got. the next step was to start coding.
Must be something to do with the PubRubaDubDubSubHubinaTub?
if you can program in Python you could use google app engine (maybe, not quite sure what you're doing)
ah ok, so it literally is a start from scratch jobby
gggaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!! i'm in such a bad mood with my parents today. first they make me walk home in the freezing cold/pitch black down country lanes for 1/2 a mile (i tripped into the road twice), then mum forgets to buy eggs so i can't do any baking this evening. Now i find out that in the space of 3 days they've used up all the yellow, blue and black ink from our printer.. so i can't print out my portfolio images to arrange and mount up tomorrow - which means my teachers can't help...and Falmouth wont give me the time of day without a good portfolio. i'm so stressed out..
Indeed... This makes me almost consider going back to squarespace. The interface was a bit mad... but I don't have a year :(
there isn't a blogging platform that offers speed and security without compromising flexibility so far as i can see.
booooooooooooooo :(
*throws something at thursday*
Aye - just had a bit of a rant at Spotify
grrrrrrr....
ah ok, i am not even close to being smart enough to start from scratch so will have to stay with wp for the time being
I quite like the ease of actually posting something with WP.
Have you thought about making this one a full-time venture then?
oh i forgot it was thursday.. that will explain it then. I feel like each day this week i've been doing damage control for the previous one.
nope. there's no money in it. what wordpress provide is good enough for most people.
My grid is finally nice and full - http://gridwalktalk.wordpress.com/formula-1-2010/
Flog it to Wordpress and say "this is more secure, pay me"?
I have a long sarcastic streak through tiredness running through me at the moment. Probably should go to bed. Night all!
Doesn't sound like a fun week at all :(
night TM
+1. UCAS sucks, but hopefully you only have to do it once.
Nighty night.
#notreallyhere
#reallygoingtobednow
*waves. is on second time*
it gets easier hte second time actually.
it's been a bad week with 2 great trips to london.. thank goodness f1 is back next weekend.
I refuse to believe UCAS is anywhere near easy. I didn't even bother with them on my second choice course and I got in fine.
:D Wooooooo! Snap.
I'm very bored though. Their search keeps timing out on me.
This video is really cool:
Anatomy of Apple Design from Transparent House on Vimeo.
this thursday week will be F1 Eve ;)
you've done it twice?
its easier because a) you know how ti use it and b) you dont have to write a personal statement again (generally)
Well no. But I'm about to go 2nd time around. I didn't actually find it too traumatic first time but it is irritating!
turns out that the personal statement was the easier part of my application.. V.V
are you applyng now for 2011 entry, or applying next year for entry?
lucky for some! i have written 3 personal statements in my time
NIght guys...
I'm going to apply next year. I thought about applying for deferred entry a few months ago but I wasn't sure enough about what I wanted to do. I'm very happy my old 6th form head has agreed to write me another reference. I was concerned I'd be spending the next 6 months trying to wring one out of Liverpool University.
night!
Night Gavin.
Ohhh. Now I have the time I can blog about a very dear birthday... :D
Try to get one from Liverpool (if its a good one) and use the head as back up, they like to have them as up to date and relevant as poss. I got one from my 6th form tutor (only left in june) but canterbury wanted one from my current uni tutor too...
I don't know who'd be qualified to write one? I never really got to know a particular member of academic staff. My personal tutor went off on maternity leave just after I started so....
hmm, hard one. my tutor dosent know me at all, but clearly he gave me one good enough because i wouldnt have got a place without it
I'm sure it'll be fine. If they need something more recent, they can have something from an employer. I've been sending them emails about it. Most of the replies I've got said they'd happily accept a school reference.
sounds alright then :D
Woohoo! http://toata.wordpress.com/2010/03/04/67-happy-10th-birthday-ps2/ ;)
yayyy!! i still mine a few times a week.
PS2 > PS3
10 Years!!
I know!
I feel old now...
Definitely!
I've slightly fixed the formatting on the Superlicence page.
http://toomuchracing.com/superlicence/
I'm keeping it as a sub-page for now. I was planning a post in the main blog to accompany it, I'm not sure about that now, and if it happens it'll be tomorrow at the earliest.
For those who missed the mention earlier, I have had a look at the rules concerning who can have an FIA Superlicence to come up with a list of drivers. It may not be completely accurate but since there are no other lists around it is better than nothing!
Right...a game to play...
When I say Motorsport Timing, what are the first word/s that come to your head?
Stopwatch.
That doesn't help does it?
stopwatch, Tag Heuer, the secret of comedy
Hungarian GP 2009 :)
haha, good answer
Have just been watching a video of the F1 App.
I WANT
Where?
I probably don't want the app but I'd like to see what it does.

If anyone is bored and looking for something to do NASA are just about to launch the Geostationary Operational. Environmental Satellite-P. Well at least just about to enter the launch window. The window opens at 23:17 and lasts for an hour. NASA TV are suggesting it will go early in the window but this is NASA
It's nice and all, but I may be busy watching the race at the time...
i think its serves its purpose very well. its not to completely replace hte race coverage, but its as nice additio
yeah, true i suppose
now off to start the next reflections piece - may reappear at some stage over the weekend (i.e. - 7am tomorrow morning...)
:D
The one good thing about thursday is the lots of blogging that has come with it :) always enjoyable stuff to read everyone's choices and thoughts.
Off too sleep now though, see you all tomorrow evening. Night!
Aye, same for me I thinks. Night all and lotsa love.
Night RG and Lukeh!
night all leavers.
Hahaha well done :)
doohickey is just a nightmare!
I honestly think I'm more likely to fail with current set up as the thread selector is scrolled off the page.
that is true. i just have to keep working to make all the other solutions better. it's almost there, there just needs to be a way of knowing stuff is happening on other threads too.
I just spoke to Nick. He is off his face. I think I've missed a golden opportunity to get him to buy something nice for me.
call him back.
I am not asleep yet! ;)
#busted
Why not???
Because you called me back!
If he is that drunk phone him back
What he said
I did. I am cross because he hadn't gone to bed at all!!!
Uh oh!
It's fine. He really is smashed. I'm sure he's forgotton already....
Is this any use?
http://formula1archive.blogspot.com/search/label/reflections
Technically it's part of my site called "Reflections" that's looks at a look back at old stories, seasons, races and situations and comments on them.
It's utterly pointless of course, but I do have fun indulging myself
:)
Just as well there is no permanent record for him to check back on
Is it wrong to watch Masterchef while eating mashed potato?
No.
:D
Could NASA just once launch something at the first attempt. 40 minutes of the 60 minute have been used up already. NASA TV bloke sounds like he is ready to slash his wrists. I think he is running out of material.
Hmmmm very very tempted!
Do it
To clarify, I already have mash from earlier. I was going to use it as part of lunch tomorrow but I'm really peckish.
So the hotel I'm staying at right now is having a massive country music thing going on in the lobby. When I look out my window into the crowd there it's like everyone stepped out of the set of Deliverance.
There are times when I'm happy that Progressive rock/metal isn't mainstream, this is not one of them.
Tomorrow is a long time away. If you are hungry eat now because you will be more hungry after the prog if you don't eat now
Yeah I got the food.... :D
Enjoy the program. I ended up watching it last night when I had no interwebz
#sidepodspace
We have a countdown running. 4 minutes till launch
I eventually saw a launch after missing the last couple because NASA hates me.
i'm not surprised, you tore them to shreds on air :)
I have been having a go at them for ages and it hasn't made any difference. Love the graphics they are running. Very Commodore 64
Mr C's link to his first blog post prompted me to go into the TMR blog archive purely to see what I was doing in the early days. I've now got lots of tabs open and I'm getting a bit lost.
