We are halfway through the week now, as Wednesday has arrived. I thought yesterday might have been a Thursday, it wasn't going very well - particularly for US F1 - but apparently we still have one of those to come this week. Meanwhile, here's what's happening at the moment:
- As mentioned, yesterday was not a good day for US F1. The team have ceased operations and the entire handling of the situation doesn't reflect well on Anderson and Windsor. Apparently they are still keen on entering the sport in 2010 - but who would be keen to work with them now? Have your say over on the dedicated thread.
- You have to feel sorry for all the employees, but Jose Maria Lopez looks like he's got somewhere to go. The Argentinian driver appears to be ready to join Campos as reserve driver - but is that just jumping from the frying pan into the fire? At least he gets the chance to remain in F1 which is the first step.
- I released the third episode of the four-part F1 Digest 2010 Season Preview special. This time round we're looking at the calendar, so expect a trip round the globe as I give you a brief overview of what to expect at each circuit. Except for Korea because they haven't actually built that one yet.

Just returned from a curling game loss
grrrrr the water company just sent me a letter to say they've been reading the wrong meter since November 2008 which would be great we had been overcharged and my account was now in credit but nooo, now I owe them an extra $171.85. How can you read the wrong meter for over a year!

Trying to decide what team I should root for this year. With USF1 being gone, my loyalty is for sale.

How very odd. Local calls are free here. Mobile calls on the same network are free as well. There's even a program here where your mobile gets a landline number in exchange for a small fee. Said landline number means all mobile-to-landline calls would already be free.

Very good point on this, Neil. One missing team means that we will drop 7 rather than 8 cars each in Q1 and Q2. Or at least that's what I remember.

Tis fun hearing the people behind the film explain certain things or off the record stuff about the film, and even better when the cast get involved and it ends up being a complete joke of a commentary :)
I just find them hilarious and sometimes informative. Tis an alternative way to watch a film.
Gavin might not like them in case they point out bits that were done with a green screen ;)
The Doctor Who ones were good, but I'm not sure I could cope with a whole film like that.

I should add that I love special effects and stuff like that - what annoyed me was that they felt they had to do it for mundane things, and I don't like that because I feel like there's no need to CGI a person walking down a street.
You might think that's stupid but I think that seeing a TV programme or movie that's supposed to be done normally (and could have easily been done that way) but is completely fake goes against the art of film-making.

I am very sorry about the frustration caused by the Winter Olympics' impact on our schedule - and in particular on Nurse Jackie and Mad Men. We have no scheduling flexibility around these programmes, and a choice to show the Olympics therefore inevitably meant that some episodes were not shown when expected, or in one case not shown at all in HD.
This is why channels other than dedicated sports channels should show sports - somebody always loses out!

Either that was really the first HD filming, or it was planned/rumored to be the first HD broadcasting but it fell through.
Because either you (a) make everyone annoyed because all that's on is sports and not Coronation street or (b) you annoy the sports fan by compromising the coverage.
I know we were never going to get it in HD - seem to remember it was going to be a local treat

none of the aside podcasts play natively in the chrome browser except for the first two, and the only difference between them seems to be that the first two shows were named episodeX.mp3 and not asideX.mp3.
no other shows seems to be affected, and show length doesn't seem to have any bearing.
am i going nuts or can chrome not cope with an mp3 called "aside"?

Mental week, just putting the finishing touches to the second F1Weekender - work's been stupid and It's about 6 days late. Pfft.
Not sure what the FIA are doing with Stefan GP, bet they're really pleased to spend all that money on cars etc to be denied an entry. Whether or not it was inferred that they'd get the slot if a team defaulted or not is anyone's guess.
Stefan are fools. They take the FIA to court and then expect the same people to suddenly be all nice and friendly and welcome them into F1 with open arms!

Use 3rd. You can go from stop decently and you have a decent array of speed available. I used 3rd for a week while I waited for a transmission to get cleared for me to use it from the junkyard (paperwork problem) after I shot my synchros by accident when I put a GL5 gear oil in my transmission.

Pretty much. I got to drive an F2000 at the beginning of last season and it was a blast. A lot like driving a big kart, and I'm ready to graduate from karting.
That's a a serious graduation. I find it hard enough to afford to run my MX5!

This is about all I spend my cash on. I have a kart, my NASA HPDE car and my Solo 2 car. I dont have a big TV (or any TV for that matter, the one I use is my roomate's), or any luxury things. My daily driver is a boring Jetta TDi that's paid off.

I have a trailer and such already for it if I do get one. I got a trailer when I started karting to haul around the gear and such in.
I dunno how much an F3 would be, but probably well out of my price range. I'm a regular joe so I'm not rolling deep in cash.

F2000's are Formula Ford's. They also have F1600's which I'd love to have.
I think that'll be the fallback plan this time. I've written it in A3 this time, and haven't got the time to change page templates to fit it all at the moment.

No, images are 72 dpi - for the web. Made that mistake before. Had been editing images off of my camera and forgot to change the dpi and ended up with a mahussive document...:)

speaking of the iPad... this week i have realised why it is such an amazing invention for photographers.
In order to show my textiles teacher some photos i want to get printed up for my portfolio i decided to put them onto my ipod and show her from there. The quality is stunning, and they looked great!.. if only they had been larger... #needsiPad :)
