It's Sunday and that can only mean one thing - race day in Malaysia. We saw a fascinating qualifying yesterday, affected throughout by the weather conditions. Will the race run along similar lines? Or will we simply be faced with a shakeup in the order? All those questions will be answered today, meanwhile, here are some of the things we're talking about:
- Lou has put up some of the pictures she took at the Evening with Joe event in London. Every single one of them is a good one, with the exception, maybe, of any that feature me. Talking of photographs, we did a quick catch up of F1 Big Picture yesterday with two lovely photos featuring Mr Hamilton, and Mr Schumacher.
- If you missed out on any of Friday or Saturday's action in Malaysia, we have everything covered for you. There's F1 Digest for a brief rundown of the sessions and the drivers thoughts after the event. You can also catch up via the Factbyte Factbox highlights, which I find particularly useful.
- Don't forget that after the race today, you must leave us a voicemail - 0121 28 87225. We've been putting them all together in a great post-race montage during the Debrief show that we will be recording later on this evening. You are bound to have thoughts about the race, so please, please, please, leave us a voicemail or email me an mp3. We love them!
That's all for now. We'll be back with all the threads you need for the racing and more later on today. I hope you're having a good weekend and I will see you in the comments.
I am now trying to work out how I got 368,300 on Bejeweled Blitz when my previous record was about 75,000 less than that - and at the 30-second mark I'd scored fewer than 50,000 points...
Today now
Right, guess I'm seeing you's all for the race in the morning. Night and lotsa love.
Night RG
Night
bye
Why is Good Friday called Good Friday?
No idea. It doesn't seem to make any sense
Don't know
I'm sure Alex would know.
Because thats the day Jesus died, Jesus died to wipe everyones sin away. This being a good thing, therefore, good friday.
aha. thanks.
i think it's because lewis did well in both sessions.
yesterday was bad saturday.
How was the film?
very good. although i've no idea what the title was? the informer or something? matt damon was in it. 8/10 i'd say.
ahh, found it: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1130080/
hey, i have loeb, does that mean i improved?
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/82667
He won the last rally too? He is still too expensive.
bugger.
The best team at the moment is RG and Pat's
Sordo, Ogier, both Solbergs and Wilson. Just remember to drop Ogier for New Zealand :)
noted. ta.
and now for some sleep.
But Kimi got you more points than last time. 4,5 times as many to be precise.
kathi why are you still awake?
Good Night
by not winning?
My neighbours are having a party
awww boo :(
By not crashing
(hearts) kimi.
g'night
Hi everyone
hooray - made it back from a traditional Irish pub alive and well... if a little worse for wear
Congratulations :D
it was very hard
:D
I am awake again. If I sleep through work I'm going to be very very angry!
just watching wrc day 2, but i'm happy
My neighbours are singing for me, isn't that nice of them?
do you want them to though?
No, not really.
But it's 4:30 now, they can't go on forever, right? RIGHT??
i'm sorry................
if they are anything like my neighbours, yes, yes they can.
*cries*
my old neighbours were the opposite - they bitched about everything; even when i walked around that flat in the evening time
well, that's it. i'm knackered - will be up in four hours. must wrc rally jordan day 3 tomorrow as well as some other race and then a flight back to london
good night!!
:D
night
yes!! all quiet. Good night whoever is left. Morning Amy
well, I banned durian at our house, OK, it is allowed when I am out of house for a week :-)
I am no longer a fan of this time change, I feel like I should be having dinner and its only 3pm.
Morning everyone :)
talofa
Heippa, Moi
how is london this morning?
Well it's not raining which is a good start. I'm putting the finishing touches to my Giggles Radio selection and am now about to write the intro post because after the race I am making a large vat of pasta sauce (bolognese you might call it, but this isn't quite like a normal one). It takes several hours to make so I have to be ready. Then I have the show and right after the show some friends are coming round to eat the sauce :)
How are things there?
twas a lovely 25 degree days and I've already had my dinner even though its only 4.07pm. No doubt I will end up having second dinner around 9pm :D
What letter is Giggles Radio today? Any Backstreet Boys? :D
You'll have to have another dinner in that case.
We're on J today. No Backstreet Boys currently planned.
We did have them last week!
I'll forgive you then :)
Thank you :)
I am topping up my 3G account with 500mb of data since my normal wireless is so wonky. I might cry if I get lots of pre-race/post-race buffering. They'll be at Lotus!
Can I tell you writing complete sentences featuring words just starting with J is not easy... I'm not looking forward to K next either!
Alarm setting error results in getting up earlier than expected. Urgh! Morning folks.
Morning from Sepang
Morning Bill!
Woohoo!
How's the weather looking?
Drivers track parade going onjust now. Drivers answering questions from children
Barichello likes chicken satay. Lewis finds sector 3 most challenging
#sameperson
Clouds not towering up as much today.
Mr Schumacher has been driving his f1 car atthe petronas towers
What's the likelihood of rain?
*wishes he went this year instead of last*
its looking ok just now.
you can see him at the next race though!
They aren't bring the drivers around the track!!! Sad face :(
tis true, dat. ;)
Morning..
Now air display
Whaaat? They brought them round last year... and they did it inspite of them having to play catchup after rain delayed one of the support races.
Morning, folks. This will be a cracker of a race, wet or dry.
Agreed. Or wet and dry.
Morning guys!
ooh, wrc highlights are on my tv before the terrible aussie pre show. I shall play spot the Kimi for the next ten minutes
Morning :)
Yes indeed!
it really better be.. if it's a washout (literally or not) i'll be very unhappy
that's the only possible worst-case scenario. but i think if we had the exact same weather from last year's race for this race, there would've been enough daylight for them to at least get to 75%. that said, our man Nathan is optimistic about the weather.
Too true. :D
Air show over. They fly Mig jets here
There was a bit of repair work at t2 earlier but nothing major
Morning all
Hellllo everybody.
yay for Jenson.
Morning steven and Rg :)
ooh bbc is go
CHAIN
good afternoon
Just drpped a current shot of the weather here
Other thread is ready now...
morning!
Hiya Gavin
morning folks,
looks like eddie has the "right" shirt on today
:)
Eddie calling Whitmarsh a muppet?? Oh dear....
Does anyone know how i could watch i full repeat of last weeks austrailian gp? Its not on iplayer anymore
Gotta go for a bit. See ya for the Giggles show!
Thank you for the mention in the daily Christine :)
Nice pic of Joe there :)
I'm in one of those shots!
I look like I'm asleep here... when in fact I am commenting:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/loujohnson/4486849988/in/set-72157623760503462/
thanks :)
You were trying to beat me to something, I'm sure :)
:D
No chance! You can't beat the FBFB lady
with all f1 coverage finished, i've now got the BTCC on.. i want it to be monday already... i can't really do anything today without feeling dizzy :(
Aww :( damn illness making you feel dizzy...
I have to get on with my uni work but I can't be bothered...
hmm, I wonder if I can buy bacon at 9.20 at night on Easter Sunday.
does australia have Tesco?
no
BTCC in may.. i should go... i was gonna go to the rally cross today :( wish i could.
Aren't you supposed to mention a different Supermarket?
Aww.. They're always open... you can get bacon in the morning, in the evening, at night, for bunch, for late dinner, for supper, for breakfast, for snack time, for naptime, for greggs time, for anytime!
I have phoned in a voicemail... I messed up the first one again... 2 take Andronov that's what they should call me!
I don't like to remind myself of other places outside of certain days of the week ;)
yeah i hear waitrose is much nicer ;)
heheh we do have places like that, but none are near my house! The 7-eleven will have bacon, but I'm tempted to see if IGA is open because they'd be cheaper.
If/when im richer than bill gates, I'll build you a supermarket by your house.
And a greggs. But thats because ill be building a greggs by all of sidepodcast commentors houses.
I'd be at Thruxton but I'm too lazy
right, off for my bacon hunt.
ooo i hadn't noticed this...
http://twitpic.com/1d3ioa
Karun can only be good for f1 :)
have fun! :)
Awesome!
Good luck! :P
Yay!
Aweome :)
I think that's he's aiming for winning christine's rankings in 2010 :)
I'm awake. Sort of.
Morning
hey Kathi
Hi
who does the commentary for BTCC... and where do i know his voice from? does he do the voiceover at Goodwood?
Ben Edwards and Tim Harvey. But the Porsche race is on now and Tim Harvey is racing in it, and I think the guy co-commentating now is Simon Hill (which is odd because one of our company directors has that name)
At Goodwood I think it is Ian Titchmarsh and Marcus Pye but I'm not sure
Ben Edwards! that's it.. i remember hearing him when i went to the BTCC last year and couldn't remember what his name was and where i knew him from.. i know one of the answers now :)
He did A1GP too
Ahh!! that could be where i recognise him from... did he do GP2 too?
No but about ten years ago he did CART.
oh. heheehe did he do RoC? hehe maybe it was just A1GP i remember him from..
bacon success! Now, time to make bacon and egg pie. Because thats what normal people do at 10pm.
Not sure actually, I don't think I watched RoC on telly. Martin Haven was the doing the commentary for those in the stadium and he does GP2 and WTCC for Eurosport and Superleague earlier.
he also does the voiceover for the F1 DVDs, doesn't he?
Huge success!
sounds like the drivers are keen to get out of Malaysia ASAP!
karun: Just running to airport for flight to chennai-late AS USUAL ! Just heard final call for mr.hulkenberg on loud speaker...
heheh
:)
ah okay, i didn't see RoC this year... :(
Karun looks terrified!
http://twitpic.com/1d3jus
i've never seen the f1 dvds.. hehe oh well.
Vettel was naughty too, not penalised either.
I have never known such lenient stewards!
I like the emphasis on the decision. DECIDE.
thats how I would do it too. I'd take up the FIA's offer of a free trip to a race but once I was there I wouldn't actually want to do any work.
bold and underline. They just needed to throw some italics in there to seal the deal.
I think they'll leave that for when they are angry
are you sure we were actually watching f1 today... it wasn't some other form of motorsport.., last year there would have been a penalty of some sort..
wow! i love the renault cleo cup :) it's awesome!
I bet they were thinking of the outrage that occurs if you penalise the winner after the race :D
:D hehe
but even with Lewis today... it was surprising :)
Always :) Shame there are only 15 cars but they seem to making up for it
They should make a sitcom involving the four stewards as they cope with decisions. I can see Herbert fitting into the show marvellously.
That guy from Sussex is 17.... he's pretty good! :)
Does this mean alonso is down two engines already?
Amy don't go to Malaysia...
@f1photosThe organisation in Malaysia is the worst i've ever known. Transport people need to be taken out and shot.
https://twitter.com/f1photos/status/11585014453
People say that every year :( I'm seriously tempted to go and just stay at the hotel at the airport because getting to and from KL itself sounds like a nightmare.
wow!!!! renault clios are mental :)
Oh dear!
thats what happens when you build circuits 60km from the city I guess :(
he didn't seem to enjoy the race either... bad times.
the Australian Grand Prix Corp chairman is apparently "slamming" drivers as "prima donnas"
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/australian-grand-prix-on-the-dark-side/story-e6frf7jo-1225849631494
Ahhh, I love the Herald Sun.
hehehehe another photographer replied to me on twitter! :D hehe
@f1_lou sort off. All the locals thought it was great, everyone else didn't.
I really hope Bernie and co will realise that something still needs to be done with the sport.. and that it's not necessarily 'saved' just cause of Ausi.
Yay!
i meant to link to that... lol
https://twitter.com/f1_lou/status/11585075093
that's not even the right link..ah never mind. i'm gonna make some more lemon and honey..
Heehehe aww, that was cute. :P
Superleague is back on. Needs more Franck.
Is his car still borked?
Is it bad that in whatever this BTCC support race is i'm supporting Ms Richardson because her first name is Louise?..
Erm, not sure.
pie is in the oven. Gosh, I do love these long weekend thingys.
Seems like as good a reason as any.
Perfectly fine
good cause i asked mum and she said it was weird...she then handed my a magnum and walked off. Not sure i can cope with honey and lemon AND a magnum.. does anyone want it?
sounds good to me, at the support races at the F1 I support anyone with a purple car.
ooh what type of magnum?
They only found out today? That means they did better than last year. ;)
Hello, folks.
Far too cold here for ice cream. May just be in my flat though.
ooohh!! ooh!! mee! me! mee!! ooh! *raises arm high* me!
i wonder if it's raining - that's usually when transport goes to pot.
Although Alex Snell said:
Which was what we took last year. Worked fine for us.
Hi
erm... a normal one..
I like the idea of Bus to KLIA, then flight home. Skip city all together :D
ah, I'll pass then :)
:) whats wrong with normal ones?
That's very possible. There's hotels near the airport. Although I would suggest you stay in KL the first time you go - to see the sights (Petronas Towers, Menara KL, Old Central Market, etc.)
kimi likes them....
*raises arm as high as he can* meee!! ill have it!!
oh.. sorry yes you can have it :)
Hehehe.
I like coffee ones :D
If I do go I'll be arriving on the Monday so I will definitely go into the city, but I do like the idea of being close to the track on race days and to get home again. If the heat is anything like Singapore, which it sounds like it is, I will hate being far away from the track since that's the main reason I'm there.
Franck talks!!
yaaay!
it always worked at primary school, it still works now!
they do coffee ones??
SF live stream : http://superleague.triple-it.nl/
*throws paper balls at you*
he's there? awesome!
It was a pre-recorded thing. But I rarely see him talk. It was quite exciting.
they do in Australia! It's called Magnum Columbia Aroma.
:D
im telling off you!!
oooo sounds fancy...
its all kinds of amazing. But anything coffee flavoured owns my soul.
Jake Hill is 16!!! and he just won the Ginetta Junior race... i needs to get myself to btcc more... lots of young drivers to get snaps of and then sell to them...
Hey! It's Narain... Kar...t..the Jordan driver!
aaahh okay. Mum says i'm odd because i like coffee flavoured things, but i'm not a fan of coffee the drink..
Are Dank and lady laney at silverstone? if so christine should ask Lady laney to get a pic of Frank ;)
I love how they interview them in their helmets! And that Bourdais still has glasses on!
I guess it makes sense, flavours don't really taste like the actual things, ie, I don't like anything strawberry or banana flavoured but I love strawberries and bananas :D
I tried to talk him into kidnapping, but Dank wasn't keen.
:D
oh bad times :(
the silverstone grid looks much more narrow. Is this my eyes, or Malaysia's fault for having such a wide track?
Karthikeyan. ;)
good way to get to F1 too as a photog. ;)
Franck is on the grid!! He's last but yay!
Woo! http://twitpic.com/1d62wz
Where are you watching?
Pinktastic.
exactly :) heheh although i think it would be more BTCC... i need to get myself to karting events first..
Speaking of photography the weather forecast was wrong AGAIN today :( not that i could probably take good shots today anyway but grrrr. I bet it's rainning tomorrow when i try and go. :(
They moved the grandstands back, it looks really weird
Bourdais says everytime he sits in a car he wants to win the race?
Fat lot of good that did in F1...
http://superleague.triple-it.nl/
hehehe this almost feels like the oposite to when Mr C stays up late and watches Nascar or some american race, only this time it's you watching the motorsport and him sleeping :)
is it gonna stay like that?
Yep, because of Moto GP they needed wider run offs apparently.
Yep. They've put in a gravel trap for MotoGP
but... it looks really really odd.. they aren't going to move it back for F1?...
Some quick drivers starting up front
I thought from 2011 the starting grid was going to be the other side of the circuit anyways?
I know this has existed for a while now but I still don't get my head around what the point is in having cars based on football teams. That said, Chris van der Drift, yaaay!
er... news to me
oh no! i have a race clash! Btcc and superleague..
The new pit complex is after Stowe, right? IIRC.
It will be.
Superleague stream is too slow for me. I'll watch BTCC.
Yep. I read it was gonna be used for F1 as well as Moto GP
Mr Franck was up two places on the first lap.
Afternoon all
They used to be better, 30 car grids were the norm
Same as race 1! I've got BTCC on mute on TV.
i know nothing about the circuits... there are 3 track layouts i vaguely know. one is monaco, Albert Park and Brazil.
Between Club and Abbey. They've put a wall there now.
As a football fan I'm finding this commentating really surreal.
I really can't follow this since they call them by the teams rather than the drivers.
the Live timing is super confusing.
I got all excited because there was a Kiwi but now I've given up and have gone back to watching my pie cook instead :D
Ahhhh.
Its like A1GP when they called them by country rather than driver. Takes some getting used to until you mentally associate the two
ahh, I found that easy because the Kiwi was easy to spot, he was in the New Zealand car :D
Reminds me of that F1 team from amer... ah, nevermind.
I like how they were talking about 'Bernie's boys' :)
I've stood where that camera is coming out the chicane before bridge.
It's mind blowingly awesome
Hello everyone.
I think I know where the rain for Malaysia went...
Hi
oh dear
So that's what he meant by Newcastle Rain on the gridwalk
This is a cool photo - http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/98237898/AFP
Oh yes.
Us british would be proud of a queue like that
I'm surprised Kubica isn't sneaking up the side.
:D
Whoops.
Vettel escapes yellow-flag penalty
FTA:
Given that Trulli was going oh so very slow (10+ secs a lap slower than Vettel), I think this is the right call. Still, Vettel may need to be more careful in future instances.
I think he should have been given a penalty, there is NO overtaking under yellow flags. You can't make exceptions
It depends on where Trulli was relative to Alonso. If it was too close, Vettel may not have had enough time to slow to Trulli's speed.
If it was a yellow flag it was a yellow flag. I get your point and to an extent he may not have been able to do anything, but the rule is 100% clear, this is the type of case study that will be bought up again
Wooo, Franck overtakes.
It's interesting in that this was a decision made by a driver-led steward panel. And this contributes to an earlier point made - have they gone too far the other way and are now too lax about the racing regs? Or is this a sensible middle ground?
wow Jenson looks exhausted here
http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/98237143/Getty-Images-Sport
also... some exciting news! i have found Emily Davenport in a photograph!
infact in one photo there is Jessica, Jenson and Emily! how awesome!
She is on the left behind the guy who is bent over
http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/98234383/AFP
and this is the photo she was taking - http://xpb.cc/viewpicture.asp?id=360384
:D :D
I think it's hard to know, in the future with different driver panels will they use different decisions? I should imagine so, and a different panellist would give Hamilton a different penalty but for me the driver panels are for incidents that require some interpretation, for me, Vettels wasn't open to much of that.
oooh, want to find me some photos of Catherine? ;)
Gio defines his balast as "the baby in the side"
love it
hehehehe i'll try look out for her when i see pics of Heikki ;)
I just watched the Vettel Trulli scene again. Trulli waved him by
I thought so. I remember Ant panicing that Vettel's engine had gone or something.
Flags were still there though, if i wave you into a junction, its still your responsibility to check its clear.
Oh, that was it! Yeah, I remember that.
Amy, are you sure you didn't go to Malaysia?
http://xpb.cc/viewpicture.asp?id=360775
If I remember rightly, Vettel was quite hesistant in passing. Maybe he saw the yellow flags?
If he saw them thats even worse! I haven't seen it so can't comprehensively comment, but unless Trulli nearly stopped (he would have had to slow down because of hte yellows anyway) then it was Vettels fault, but even if he did then its marginal
heheh, maybe Kathi was there.
if she is who I think she is, she was wearing yellow.
But if Trulli was going what, 2 mins 7 seconds a lap by that point, Vettel couldn't just slow down to go past him, surely not?
You remember Australia last year? Trulli wasn't punished for passing Hamilton during the safety car after they found out Hamilton slowed down to let him pass
Trulli was really slow waiting for him to pass
Hey all.
That was because Trulli went off he was allowed to gain a place, under full course caution, its different with individual yellow flags.
And different stewards are going to say different things too, this is where the different steward each race gets on dodgy ground
Rules are rules, its all open to interpretation, im just saying under FIA rules you aren't allowed to overtake under most circumstances
wow!! you can really tell that Sutton images are something special
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal2010.jpg
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal2012.jpg
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal233.jpg
hehe okay will look out for her :)
Franck finished 8th. Yay.
From 15th or so! Awesome!
Where did the mighty Spurs finish this time?
huh? If you go off you go off, you don't get your place back. Trulli wasn't punished because he was let by. In this case both Vettel and Trulli slowed down and then Trulli waved Vettel by I don't see a problem with this.
more pics of JB running the other day :D
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal294.jpg
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal295.jpg
amy i am hardly finding pics of Heikki let alone his Girlfriend :(
i bring a photo of someone else as a compromise..
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal232.jpg
this is acceptable.
Erm... good question.
resizing my window isn't
Hi
I can see you were focused one one driver and one driver only ;)
Trulli was let by because he went off and came back on, not in an accident area, the yellow flag area is where the incident is. There is a slight difference.
I just shut live timing :(
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal98.jpg
Amy, who is that?
and the website now won't load
4th
Oooh, thats alright. 1st and 4th. Cheers guys.
There is a 'superfinal' in a minute. Not sure what it is.
This is not any old final... this is an M&S final...
The top points scorers from the other races (combined score) have a very short race to win money.
Meanwhile on my telly, F.Renault is about to start and it looks like one of the teams is painted up like Virgin Racing.
noo idea
Spurs, Porto, Basel, Madrid, Lyonnais and someone else
It is, its a manor car!
oh i was hoping you'd know. :)
Oooh, might as well watch it then. Its on the website right?
http://superleague.triple-it.nl/
Thank you :)
heh I can recognise about 10 WAGs and thats it as far as paddock ladies go :D
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal790.jpg
#lensenvy
#careerenvy
i was thinking there must be a reason they took a pic of her, so thought she may be a WAG, so i figured you'd know. I know a few of them.. not many
I think they take pictures of everyone, just in case. I do note that the photo the man took of us at McLaren is not on the internet, they must have worked out that we are not celebrities :D
But you are Amy!!^
I wish that alone was enough to get into the paddock every year
'ID please
But I'm amy!
Oh! My apologies Ms Fulton, Heikki is in his garage waiting to meet you. Please feel free to have this complementary VIP tickets as well. Also, enjoy this free bacon'
ehehehehe!
Get in there. I love this series.
When photographers get bored they apparently take pics of other photographers :)
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal726.jpg
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal631.jpg
Lorenzo Bellanca!!!!
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal638.jpg
oh and a pic of Ant
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal499.jpg
A proper photo of mikey!
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal321.jpg
oh and for Amy...the only pic of Heikki i can find.
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal421.jpg
and now i shall stop with the photography links. you can tell i'm bored today.
i think they might take pics of everyone they see with a paddock pass then look through them later...
The Heikster looks really odd there...
arrrgh, put a hat on! *cannot deal with the hair*
I started browsing Sutton and I found a picture of Catherine in Bahrain I hadn't seen before so I feel I achieved something :)
Its like a mix of Heikki and Mika.
Woah! You're right!
sounds like my perfect man.
A pic of Heikki from today Amy - http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal1820.jpg
also.. Nico's trainer scares me..
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal1949.jpg
Points for Karun and Alonso? here another pic of their paper aeroplane thing
http://www.sutton-images.com/preview.asp?filename=d10mal1349.jpg
okay i'm really stopping now seeing as i've been through all the photos..
Have they played a G40 Junior race yet?
hooray! I went on a hunt to see if THAT woman has ever been photographed with Catherine because that would make me laugh, but this is the only photo I can find of her with someone other than Heikki.
I kind of eagerly await the day that THAT woman gets photographed with Jessica because they are both fighting for the crown of Head WAG.
Jessica wins hands down though surely? ;)
really? I think THAT woman wants to be head WAG alot, where as Jessica is happy to keep herself to herself but only gets photographed cause she's Jenson's girlfriend, and very pretty ;) I think Alonso's wife is very popular in Spain tho.
By the look of it she's the spainish equivalent of Nicole....except people like her...
I have some of her music on my ipod, I don't understand a word of it but its very poppy :D
Yes
rrrrrrrrrrubbish
i've just seen this pic of lady scott... http://twitpic.com/1cldg5 i'm very jealous, plus she's using a Nikon :) hehe
Camera strap spotter! ;)
hehe ;) (hearts) nikon ;)
It is worth noting if you have the Dave channel, their WRC review is at 6pm
calling all flickr fans - http://fffflckr.com/ - is an awesome search for it :)
Ooh, interesting
and back to the daily...
*sits*
but its tomorrow! That means its the last day of my 4 day weekend :(
i think i was wrong about twitter not being any use for holding a conversation.
still needs comment quoting though.
Hehe
hard to quote when you've got 140characters though?
i'd probably fix that too, given the choice.
conversations are doable though, you just have to work harder at it i think.
only if you want everyone to see it... otherwise just straight reply?
i think you should really think about taking over the internet... it would be a much nicer place :)
For the record, I sick to death over singing or dancing talent shows on TV
[puts soapbox back in cupboard]
bin your television ;)
but that defeats the point. i want to use it as a many-to-many conversation tool.
:)
Just watch something else. Rally on Dave.
Although I think I know the one you mean and it is just a vehicle to make Andrew Lloyd Webber a lot of money via the BBC.
they are extremely irritating, but now i only use tv to watch one thing.. so it doesn't really bother me.
BARROWMAN!! *shakes fist*
Haven't watched the GP yet, followed it on the Timing App [the good one] and it was pretty fun
Will watch replay now though
I may watch it again now I am a awake. Maybe later.
can anyone explain what happened here?

:)
it looks like it's been sprayed by a fire extinguisher? i cant remember if any of the renaults didn't finish? when i first saw it i thought it was Alonso's ferrari.
petrov parked. i must've missed the fire though.

don't you love the fact this was only this morning and i've already forgotten it :)

Picapp is great for free and legal stuff... but they don't half focus on the start and the podium don't they?
the Australian Grand Prix Corp chairman is apparently "slamming" drivers as "prima donnas"
http://www.her...6frf7jo-1225849631494 {Comment #173}
Has Ron considered that by complaining about the drivers' reaction to the light he is implicitly complaining about the FIA, thereby endangering whether he even has a race next year? All the contracts in the world won't save the Australian GP in Melbourne if the FIA believe that the organisers cannot run the event in a safe manner.
'sup guys. Did you get my voicemail, what little I could think of?!
Any time it's live I panic. Sidepodpanel / Parade Lap will be interesting... :D
Heya TM
PING http://toomuchracing.com/2010/04/04/thoughts-on-f1-malaysian-gp/
Just been cooking up a blog post, and on the same day too, wonders will never cease. :)
Hi
Evening all
Decided to have a quick nap and get up at 2pm for Franck's race. Somehow 2pm became 7pm. These races are playing havoc with my bodyclock.
Wonders of the Solar System now on
Pluggage is good
I'm off for an early night but I leave you with this cringeworthy link, I believe it's sung in earnest and not a parody at all. Oh dear:

Whoops.
Vettel escapes yellow-flag penalty
FTA:
Sebastian Vettel has escaped a penalty for overtaking backmarker Jarno Trulli under yellow flags in the closing stages of the Malaysian Grand Prix.
The stewards spoke to Vettel after the race and, after also viewing video and telemetry data, they decided that since he had made 'a large reduction in speed through the yellow flag area and that he understood that Car 18 {Comment #275}
I think the key part of it may have been the bit starting with "he understood that Car 18" and ending with "was slowing with an obvious problem", because it implied to me that Sebastian thought that Trulli was the cause of the yellow flag (cars slowing with obvious problems can trigger yellow flags even if still moving - Liuzzi was an example earlier in the race). Even so, I think he's been a bit lucky that the stewards' panel was sympathetic.
Yeesh... night.
Very unusual to get away with passing under yellows. I wonder if that is lnked to Lewis's warning. If one gets a warning and the other a penalty then people start claiming favouritism
only if you want everyone to see it... otherwise just straight reply?
but that defeats the point. i want to use it as a many-to-many conversation tool. {Comment #372}
You could use the link for the tweet you're quoting or double-tweet (retweet quote in one tweet, put out reply immediately afterwards). Alternatively, put down the individual you would be quoting and anyone searching your account will assume that a) you're responding to the last tweet that individual sent you unless search indicates otherwise and b) that you are referencing that tweet unless the content of your current tweet suggests otherwise.

It's very unusual for there to be two completely unconnected yellow-flag-worthy incidents in the same marshal control zone. If you see something that patently warrants a yellow flag and it's unlikely to have triggered anything else, you wouldn't look for completely different incidents (or at least no more than normal). Drivers don't queue behind broken-down cars that cause yellows.
Perhaps more to the point, they also don't queue behind extremely slow cars causing yellow flags through their slowness. Otherwise about two-thirds of the starting grid would have a penalty for overtaking Liuzzi during his yellow-flag-accompanied lap back to the pits (which was so slow the leaders had done two laps in the time it took and therefore overtaken poor Tonio twice). If the stewards are going to let people overtake Liuzzi under yellows when it's obvious that he was causing one, they have to allow Vettel to pass Trulli under similar circumstances. It's a somewhat dangerous slope, but it's hardly a precedent-setter.
I've just noticed that the FIA haven't bothered releasing the post-qualifying document (with things like the tyres for the top 10) yet...
AlexGiggles is on bbc one now..is what i meant *sobs* comment fail.
Funnily enough I read the comment, knew what you meant and didn't spot the error.
*puts head in hands* i give up with trying to be funny... Michael Mcintyre is on bbc one...
i'm going to lay down again...
Still not feeling great
Awwww :P
i feel awful.. i seem to get bursts of energy... but blah.. i blame emily for making me ill.
I wanna see if i feel well enough to get to lydennhill tomorrow as it's the second day of their rallycross event and i wanna try get some pics.
Emmily seems to get the blame for lots of things
Sounds like a good day out.
she is.. plus she's off to Spain tomorrow too, so she is also to blame if i get lonely next week.
yeah hopefully it will be, walking around hasn't been the easiest thing today, but i'm the kinda person who hates sitting around doing nothing. I need to get to race meets etc and holidays are the best for that..
Poor Emily and poor you
Once you get a camera in front of your face you will forget all your pains
that's what i'm hoping. even if all i have left is a sore throat i'll be happier :)

Hi Andy
Good evening, Andy!
Hullo
hey
So is everyone watching Mr McIntyre? I have to say that funny as he is, I'm getting to the point I need to switch him off. I can only watch in small doses.
Just switching to hom now that Wonders of the Solar System is over. Looks like the end of the series going by the wrap up
I'm just listening to music and having a bit of a relax before 2 days of cramming in as much uni work as possible!

Everything seems to be on schedule for tomorrow morning's launch of the space shuttle Discovery. The launch is scheduled for 11:21am UK time. At 1:15am NASA mission managers will meet to decide whether to start fueling with NASA TV coverage starting half an hour later.

Manny Calavera!
Ah, that's not so good and probably sensible of your mother.
You KNOW?! I'm shocked, surprised and stunned!
Rest. Go for a walk. Rest more.
Grim Fandango is one of, if not, my favourite PC game alongside Theme Hospital. I heart Manny :D
:)
You have exceptional taste sir! Well done. :D
If it's written by Tim Schafer, or has Tim Schafer involved in it, I'll be first in line to buy it. Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Psychonauts, Grim Fandango, etc etc...
Nostalgia rush. Yeeeeesh.

Four Weddings and a Funeral is refreshingly unreal.
Lukeh, how late can you book your tickets for wednesday?
Tuesday morning probably
i'm assuming that as you asked for the time earlier you book a seat on a specific train?
Hehehe. We're just going through voicemails. Lukeh makes F1 seem sooo much better :)
Oh nuts, you now have me in a dilemma as to how late I can book things off.
When's a good time to pop down to London? I was thinking 7-ish.
Damn Welsh, always bigging things up more than they seem. :D
Pretty much, but if I get them on the day it's more expensive, which is annoying. Silly trains :(
i may if i'm not feeling any better be house bound... just so you know..
:(
hehehe can't wait to hear it :)
true story. have i ever mentioned alex is a genius?
I'll just say sorry about mine, because....well...i pause...a lot again
mum's almost got me under house arrest banning me from doing anything now. Just cause i had a coughing fit.. :s
you're just teasing us now... i bet you're not going to tell us what they say till the podcast is released ;)
Just as I finished the call, with the phone still aside my face, I said out loud " Oh bother, I forgot to plug my review of the race"
Those may have not been the exact words. But I'm glad my voicemail helped f1 be a bit more tolerable for you :P
awww, it's very sweet. we've had some great thoughts this week.
tomorrow.
I feel bad for not doing one, I nearly did but I couldn't string it together in my head so went for a walk and blogged instead.
none of you plug your own blogs!
We are still learning from the school of Giggles
You still have a few minutes, if you want to. We'd looooove it.
I did? Didn't I?
Mine's not worthy enough to plug, mainly cos I don't post enough to it. I get enough coverage on SPC anyway.
Want another?
he forgot
this one is cool, cheers sir. remember to plug in two weeks
I....a....i do.... oh my goodness....
*sits down*
Ooh. Um. Maybe. I might have had a couple of small beers since. Dutch courage. Erm.
Hahahaha.
what?
DO IT!

Thing that stops water flowing?
Twitter question: why do lists you follow not appear in your timeline?
ah yeah, I was doing a surprised "what??" but didn't do it very well :)

HELLO!
Hey
Helllo Mr Jon.
Evening folks,
I returneth safe and well from Heathrow - hooray!!
Apologies to Mr C and others - due to my in air status I was unable to establish a voice defined colour for Malaysia.
Needless to say it was "orange" - kind of like driving faster towards a traffic light only to be stopped the appearance of the slow down lap, the race had so much passing early on, only to hit its "orange light" about half way through.
(What a metaphor - maybe I am a genius??)
:D
I left a mumbly stumbly terrible voicemail which you really shouldn't use
Hi Jon and Leigh
Hi Pat
are we ready for easter monday yet? I feel like I should be doing something tomorrow
It's bank holiday.
Do nothing.
Its law
Getting tweets from California, they just had a 6.9 earthquake
That sounds bad
Going to my first speedway race of the season. Apart from that, nothing at all.
Ready? Is something happening? I plan to feed my Dad's cats. And that's it.
oh my goodness!!
I've just had a few days with the folks doing nowt - must be rectified
Whereabouts? Near LA? That'll be bad.
My word!! Mother Earth is angry this year
:o
No idea
San Diego
Pinkgineer: +1 RT @kwokjk: That was the biggest rolling earthquake I have ever felt in 33 yrs in san diego!
Nothing showing up on a news search yet
Wow, 6.9?! Closest to Guadalupe Victoria... that SO far from here. Hope everyone's okay!!!
Just over the border in Mexico.
@toomuchracing Everything's fine here. Earthquake was centered near Guadalupe Victoria, Mexico.
uh that was too me not from me :)
CathyCardinal:
Oh yeah, if U can Twitter through it it's not too bad. ;-) Duration was freaky long tho, felt like rough seas RT @toomuchracing: ok there?
http://twitter.com/NewEarthquake/status/11609528880
Baja with the epicentre in Guadalupe
did someone set up a twitter account specifically for a new earthquake?
They have 2400 tweets so they must do all earthquakes
Question for F1 fans everywhere - why is the Bahrain Grand Prix on a Sunday? Would it not make more sense to do it on Saturday?
Why the Bahrain GP specifically?
For the locals yes it would. But Bernie & Co seem to like to keep it consistent for the rest of us.
All races have been on Sundays for well over 20 years. It is just for consistency, TV companies and the audience
As an example - Sunday is a regular working day in Bahrain, whereas the weekend falls on a Friday and Saturday
J
Becasue it is in the Grand Prix Rule book that Qualifying shall take place on Saturday, and the Race shall take place on Sunday.
ah ok, as the others have said, its always been like that.
Moto GP occationally go on Saturdays and I always forget, sometimes nice to happen upon a GP on a Saturday morning, but then they can produce excitement from an hours open qualifying session, so swings and roundabouts ;)
It hasn't always been like that. Many races including the British GP were traditionally on a Saturday
Well, you say always, but the British GP ran on Saturdays when it was at Brands
20 years = ages
Since I have been alive its been on a sunday
the answer is TV. simply.
