Well, it was all go yesterday. Even when there is not a huge amount of F1 related news, we still find plenty to blog and talk about. Here are some of the things under discussion at the moment.

  • If you haven't already, make sure you listen to the latest Aside with Joe show, ably edited by Mr C. I say ably, it took him twice as long as it should, but perhaps the results are twice as better for it? Either way, if you want the inside scoop from a man who knows what he's talking about, tune in to find out what Joe things about everything F1 right now.
  • Here at Sidepodcast Towers, we will be watching a motorsport related film on Saturday evening, and we want you to join us. You can read more about it on the introductory post, but a quick recap: Talladega Nights, 8pm UK time on Saturday. Be there or be square, as we live comment our way through the first SidepodFilmClub movie.
  • Finally, a little bit of link love, as Lou posted this in the early hours of last night. It was in the comments on two daily posts and has now made its way into a third! If you haven't seen it already, please check out Lou's tale of getting onto the podium at Valencia. After Rubens had been there, of course.

That'll do it for now. Don't forget that if you spot a topic that really deserves a thread of its own, away from the daily, let us know and we'll post a breakout thread for it. It's quite an honour, and only the best stories get this treatment! I'll see you in the comments.

Night to all who are leaving.

I really should go to bed, I'm driving my sister to a job interview in the morning! I'm really not tired though. I'm too excited to sleep. I'm not sure how long that's gonna last. Hopefully not all the way until November.

Being a regular user I think I know the sort of ad it's gonna be, as in a bit of text at the right hand side on a page with related content. Go for a title as Provocative/interesting as possible to get attention before mentioning the details in the bit below, that's the best advice I can think of

I was seriously considering going over to Melbourne. My cousin lives in Australia. I've applied for a tourist visa so I can go over if I feel like it.

I kinda fancy sailing across but I'm sure that takes forever. It's probably a mental idea :P

  • Steven Roy03/09/2009 at 02:20

That would need to be a few hundred thousand feet high

Olympus Mons, is, in fact, in South Queensland

  • Selidor03/09/2009 at 02:22

That would need to be a few hundred thousand feet high

Can't really justify calling it a hill then I suppose, though is there a specific height at which a hill becomes a mountain?

  • Steven Roy03/09/2009 at 02:22

    Ooo what's it called?

The book with the missing front page. Still available on Amazon apparently

  • Steven Roy03/09/2009 at 02:24

Can't really justify calling it a hill then I suppose, though is there a specific height at which a hill becomes a mountain?

There was a film about that recently where the local mountain was surveyed and found to be a foot too short and it was declared to be a hill. I think 1000ft is the break point

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 02:25

And your average landspeed was... :)

There may have been some time difference.

But the day before didnt exist as i flew from LA so it didn't seem important... ;)

  • Alison03/09/2009 at 02:26

It is possible to arrive by sea, but unless you own a boat, this means joining a cruise, paying for your passage on a cargo ship or joining a private yacht as crew - all of which are expensive and time-consuming

    :(

That's not the film with hugh grant and that guy from star trek is it? :)

I found alex's book, the 5 people who have rated it seem to love it! I might just buy it actually

  • Amy03/09/2009 at 02:34

that would be epic! She did play in boots one year but this year its some pretty cool black and purple nikes :D

  • Steven Roy03/09/2009 at 02:34

I think Hugh Grant was in it. I remember it being plugged a lot but I never saw it

Nike's are one thing, but she may need your fashion advice as i cant see anything making a bigger impact on court than a pair of furry boots!

It's called the Englishman who went up a hill but came down a mountain. It's set in Wales just after WWI. basically a village's beloved mountain is actually a few feet short, so a shellshocked young war vet who dug trenches comes out of his catatonic-is state to dig some mud to add the missing height, which inspires everyone to do likewise and it all turns out great. It's pretty good, even if hugh grant is just playing hugh grant again

Odd story on BBC news. Girls are born with a natural fear of spiders. At least Lou now knows she is not psychotic.

    I am not here.

Night, i should probably do the same, but for once i am in a flow of writing which is great so i will see how long i can go

  • Selidor03/09/2009 at 02:54

Actually with my tummy ache mostly subsided and the soothing sound of rain outside, I'm going to turn in as well, though ill probably lose the ability to fluently type on a miniature keyboard and have to learn all over again... See you guys later!

    Are you working tomorrow?

If i was really tired on the way to work i would always get a McD's Breakfast which would magically get me though to lunch... Its not healthy but it helped!

  • Alison03/09/2009 at 02:59

    Are you working tomorrow?

Yup only a half day though. I have the morning off. I need to at least be up for 10 though as I've promised to drive my sister to a job interview.

not at all, I also like paper things (specially books and magazines) :-)

surely there should be international editions of big british/american newspapers going around (at least in big cities)

  • Alison03/09/2009 at 03:17

I'll need to start collecting donations to buy an international newspaper everyday :P

It's expensive enough in this country. Forget paying £3 a day abroad :(

I feel like I should try again on Friday. Actually make it to day 2 for once in my life :D

  • Christine03/09/2009 at 08:28

But that's tomorrow. Friday is beer day. Jeans day. Pizza day.

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 08:28

Alex - do you get notified when someone buys your book?

I do when they mention it in the comments :)

    So thank you Paul!

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 08:29

Luckily it's only Wednesday here in the UK. And Friday tomorrow! Phew!

  • Amy03/09/2009 at 08:29

But that's tomorrow. Friday is beer day. Jeans day. Pizza day.

but one needs a rest day! I am glad that experts say interval training is good. I'm good at not running between runs.

  • Paul03/09/2009 at 08:29

    So thank you Paul!

hehe. It's only taken about 6 months. Now Amazon says it will take another 1 to 3 weeks. I shal then deliver a review :D

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 08:30

Alex - do you get notified when someone buys your book?

If somebody buys direct from the publisher then I get notified immediately. With Amazon it's about 14 days.

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 08:30

It's better to have 2 or 3 days between runs - gives the body enough time to recover and build muscle.

Also, you should only start by alternating running and walking for 10 minutes and build up from there...

  • Paul03/09/2009 at 08:31

    Awesome... looking forward to that!

    So am I.

I love getting packages from Amazon

  • Paul03/09/2009 at 08:32

Got that wrong too. I just got progressively slower for 25 minutes.

  • Amy03/09/2009 at 08:32

Also, you should only start by alternating running and walking for 10 minutes and build up from there...

I think I shall go back to the couch to 5k plan because it starts with 30 second runs :D

packages rule. I still have not had a response from McLaren about my not-arrived one. Maybe I should tweet them instead, but then again they only appear to reply to the ones telling them how brilliant they are.

their tour has apparently got great reviews. Christine McVie retired years ago though so she isn't touring.

I didn't even realise their Aus dates had been confirmed but they go on sale at 9am tomorrow! Must...purchase.... but the cheapest tickets are $125, dearest $190!

  • Amy03/09/2009 at 10:00

does it work ? no problems with any apps ? heard from friend who upgraded that several of the applications stopped running for him after upgrade ...

As I mentioned yesterday I am a big cheater because the only non-apple application I run is Firefox.

There was one problem on install which is it lost System Events.app but I googled where it is and went and found it.

    Now installing iLife 09

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 10:01

You know how on Friends they are embarrassed to run with Pheobe? Thats me. My dad says I look like I'm having a seizure. I don't want "proper" runners to laugh at me :D

  • Alianora La Canta03/09/2009 at 10:02

Force India are testing at Kemble this morning – already up and running and its a beautiful day here.

I can only assume these must be the Singapore upgrades being tested (unless Vijay is wrong in his assessment of the team's driver situation, which is entirely possible).

    It's a program...

    Now iWork!

    All installed... iWork was fast!

Neither of the iWork or iLife suites even needed a reboot.

Notice anything about Snow Leopard yet? Yes it boots faster!

    Thats hugely fast, insanely fast.

I've done a numerical analysis on whether putting more fuel in Giancarlo's car at the first stop would have enabled him to beat Kimi on Sunday.

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)03/09/2009 at 11:17

Nick Daman on Kimi Raikkonen's win and the apparent Media backlash

If you didn't know, Nick Daman is from Midweek Motorsport on Radio Le Mans and used to be the podium interviewer for FOM (he made Schumacher cry too!)

I must say, he's got it spot on - Kimi is a great driver but his attitude is appalling sometimes!

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)03/09/2009 at 11:19

I've done a numerical analysis on whether putting more fuel in Giancarlo's car at the first stop would have enabled him to beat Kimi on Sunday.

Wow, that's fantastic! Well done Alia - I suspected that Fisi was faster and could have won if he had pitted later, but now I think you proved it!

  • Alianora La Canta03/09/2009 at 11:22

    ooooh. hadn’t thought of that. is it liuzzi driving? {Comment #348}

I'll be astonished if it isn't, seeing as he's done all Force India's other straight-line tests this year.

  • Alianora La Canta03/09/2009 at 11:24

    Well done Alia – I suspected that Fisi was faster and could have won if he had pitted later, but now I think you proved it! {Comment #369}

It surprised me, because until I did the sums, I thought the strategem wouldn't have worked. I estimate from the way Fisi caught up with Kimi after the second stop that he was basically 0.333 seconds faster, so 13 laps would have given him a pretty big winning margin as well.

It just goes to show that it's worth putting a calculator to that sort of theory before commenting on it.

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 11:25

I must say, he's got it spot on - Kimi is a great driver but his attitude is appalling sometimes!

I dont think its fair to say it appalling, he isnt up there doing anything paticularly offensive, rubbing it in everyone elses faces going im the greatest!

He doesnt exactly help the sport seem exciting though, and certainly not the press.

But i think he is a good part of the paddock. we dont want 26 identical drivers, someone as drastically different as him is good, no matter how bizare we find it it all!

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 11:25

I have new internet, i will see you the other side of the router!

But i think he is a good part of the paddock. we dont want 26 identical drivers, someone as drastically different as him is good, no matter how bizare we find it it all!

Oh I want him there too, but it would be nice if he looked bothered that he is an F1 driver from time to time...

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 11:35

Oh I want him there too, but it would be nice if he looked bothered that he is an F1 driver from time to time...

maybe, but if he doesn't feel that way, should he have to act? Maybe he just loves driving but wishes nobody was watching?

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 11:36

I must say, he's got it spot on - Kimi is a great driver but his attitude is appalling sometimes!

I don't see what his attitude to the press should have to do with it:

I've left this comment over there:

That’s sad… A driver who is fast… who is a world champion… who as a fan you would like will be let go because he’s not very good with the press!

Shame! I thought the sport was about driving the car fast not gladhanding!

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 11:37

Oh I want him there too, but it would be nice if he looked bothered that he is an F1 driver from time to time...

You don't keep yourself that fit for 9 years if you don't care!

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 11:37

I'm going through my posters to take away with me....do you think i could dare take an A2 poster of Ralf Schumacher (in car) with me to do a Motorsport coruse?

  • Christine03/09/2009 at 11:38

If you didn't know, Nick Daman is from Midweek Motorsport on Radio Le Mans and used to be the podium interviewer for FOM (he made Schumacher cry too!)

Why has he not changed the theme OR the subtitle? Gah.

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)03/09/2009 at 11:39

You don't keep yourself that fit for 9 years if you don't care!

Exactly. What is frustrating to me about Kimi is that we all know that he would have been very happy and relieved that he won on Sunday - so why can't he show it?

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 11:43

Exactly. What is frustrating to me about Kimi is that we all know that he would have been very happy and relieved that he won on Sunday - so why can't he show it?

Why do you think he isnt? just because he dosent smile dosent mean he's not happy

  • me03/09/2009 at 11:43

well that ruins my planned gmm-esque headline right there doesn't it?

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)03/09/2009 at 11:45

It's more than not smiling though - he doesn't even sound awake or willing to be there!

For a team that's all about passion and family he's entirely the wrong fit...

I really didn't like the comments Rebecca Adlington made last year. She implied that Lewis Hamilton wasn't deserving because she and the other Olympians had worked harder to achieve their goals. I would have thought the efforts would be about the same TBH...

Fair enough, but does an F1 driver get a go every year? In theory yes, but if the car is not right, then they miss out on that opportunity...

  • me03/09/2009 at 12:00

thats not strictly true....they have worlds and euros too. its just the olympics are huuuugely more shown than the worlds/euros

she had a point that they only get one chance every four years. lewis gets a go every year.

But only for the Olympics - they have a World Champs every year and many big events to do well at. In terms of preparation and training they are equal...

was that the point being made? i thought it was - we only get to go for this award once every four years. that gives lewis three more chances before we'll be up again.

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)03/09/2009 at 12:03

But really, is the highlight of an athlete's career a SPOTY? Seems petty to say something like that if it's just a glorified popularity contest?

was that the point being made? i thought it was - we only get to go for this award once every four years. that gives lewis three more chances before we'll be up again.

That is probably a problem with the awards. Sounds like a TV popularity contest. Something like the laureus awards is more thoughtful

If you were in charge of rainbows which colour would you add remembering that you have to also choose which one to remove to make room!

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)03/09/2009 at 12:06

    I wish I hadn't said anything.

Why? It's a good discussion - none of those in the running for the award last year are in contention this year, so in that respect it's exactly like F1 ;)

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)03/09/2009 at 12:06

If you were in charge of rainbows which colour would you add remembering that you have to also choose which one to remove to make room!

Aww great quote on qualifying for Spa from Holly Samos in the FIF1 podcast:

It was a very tight field - we were seeing really tight times between the top 19 :D

  • me03/09/2009 at 12:09

Why? It's a good discussion - none of those in the running for the award last year are in contention this year, so in that respect it's exactly like F1 ;)

but the olympic athletes don't get a chance. lewis had a chance to be nominated but instead it's button. f1 is still represented.

and it has the opportunity to be every year. i say it was a valid point.

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 12:09

    In New Zealand it is!

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 12:10

Nope, its not officially a colour. It's colourless, get rid of all colour and you get black. I think thats right, prof. giggles?

    i agree.

    Me too...

  • Paul03/09/2009 at 12:11

but the olympic athletes don't get a chance.

They should. Otherwise it's a bogus award. There were swiming world champs, althletics worlds. all with big world records. I could go on

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 12:12

    i agree.

    woop

she had a point that they only get one chance every four years. lewis gets a go every year.

They also get everything paid for by the taxpayer and once they are in the programme, have to show very little inititve on their own, as long as they meet their targets.

  • Christine03/09/2009 at 12:13

    Red

    Orange

    Yellow

    Green

    Blue

    Indigo

    Violet

But although those are the ones mentioned in the song etc it's more accurately:

    Red

    Orange

    Yellow

    Green

    Cyan

    Blue

    Violet

  • Kathi03/09/2009 at 12:14

come to think of it, i haven't seen him show a lot of initiative either.

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 12:16

i didn't see lewis putting his hand in his pocket since ron picked him up?

True, but he had to be good enough to convince ron to keep him, and then to take him back when ron dropped him.

I just dont like the way olympic athletes are so pompus and then on top of it they make loads of cash of product endoresements when it is us the public who paid for them to get there in the first place!

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 12:16

How can you get rid of all colour and get black? The thing that was black would not exist!

Exactly, so "Black" isnt a colour, its what happens when you get rid of all light

  • Christine03/09/2009 at 12:16

    I wish I hadn't said anything ;)

    Hehehe.

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 12:16

is it not a continuous spread of colour?

The problem is that people have been describing the rainbow for longer than the language has taken to evolve. So the words we use don't mean the same things as they did

  • me03/09/2009 at 12:16

Exactly, so "Black" isnt a colour, its what happens when you get rid of all light

    again. agreed.

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)03/09/2009 at 12:17

How can you get rid of all colour and get black? The thing that was black would not exist!

Exactly, so "Black" isnt a colour, its what happens when you get rid of all light

So if you had something painted "Black" by your definition, it would not exist because you could not see it (as there would be a void where the light should be)?

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 12:18

My song didn't go like that.

    My song was

Red and Yellow and pink and green, orange and purple and blue...

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 12:18

Exactly, so "Black" isnt a colour, its what happens when you get rid of all light

    again. agreed.

Now hold on... Black is all colours or no colours... Depending on if you are talking paint or light.

All light is absorbed hence black meaning "no light reflected" in light terms, and also being a combination of all colours in paint terms.

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 12:19

So if you had something painted "Black" by your definition, it would not exist because you could not see it (as there would be a void where the light should be)?

Ahha ... so thats what happened to Kimi after wearing all those black mclaren hats! :P

  • Christine03/09/2009 at 12:19

Red and Yellow and pink and green, orange and purple and blue...

    Yes!

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 12:19

So if you had something painted "Black" by your definition, it would not exist because you could not see it (as there would be a void where the light should be)?

nonono, its clearly still there, but its just not considered a colour. colour is different types of light, and black has no light, therefore its not a colour.

trust me, i think its as stupid as you do, but thats how it is

  • Paul03/09/2009 at 12:19

So if you had something painted "Black" by your definition, it would not exist because you could not see it (as there would be a void where the light should be)?

It would exist, just not reflect any light

Ahha ... so thats what happened to Kimi after wearing all those black mclaren hats! :P

    that explains an aweful lot

    Yes!

I can sing a rainbow.... I can sing a rainbow too!

  • Paul03/09/2009 at 12:20

Red and Yellow and pink and green, orange and purple and blue...

    Yes!

    Isn't that Joseph?

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 12:20

trust me, i think its as stupid as you do, but thats how it is

In terms of physics, something is "black" or "dark matter" if light-emitting photons are fired at the object and no light photons are reflected back - if they are we get colour or other types of radiation...

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 12:21

In terms of physics, something is "black" or "dark matter" if light-emitting photons are fired at the object and no light photons are reflected back - if they are we get colour or other types of radiation...

    That's the same here right?

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)03/09/2009 at 12:21

They do? I should tell some people to move to England

    The same happens in Aus!

In fact you invented they system, we copied it then won more medals :P

And then reminded us over and over and over....

  • Paul03/09/2009 at 12:21

    The same happens in Aus!

Noooo. Not any more it doesn't. In fact it only ever did for a select few. Very few athletes I knew got much at all.

  • me03/09/2009 at 12:21

Now hold on... Black is all colours or no colours... Depending on if you are talking paint or light.

if we're talking about rainbows, we're not talking about paint? unless we talking about the rainbow with bungle in it?

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)03/09/2009 at 12:22

In terms of physics, something is "black" or "dark matter" if light-emitting photons are fired at the object and no light photons are reflected back - if they are we get colour or other types of radiation...

    That's the same here right?

But those objects cannot be seen at all?

  • Christine03/09/2009 at 12:22

if we're talking about rainbows, we're not talking about paint? unless we talking about the rainbow with bungle in it?

Up above the streets and houses!

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)03/09/2009 at 12:23

Now hold on... Black is all colours or no colours... Depending on if you are talking paint or light.

if we're talking about rainbows, we're not talking about paint? unless we talking about the rainbow with bungle in it?

Giggles, can you fix it for me to have a black rainbow (unless it disrupts the fabric of space)?

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 12:23

if we're talking about rainbows, we're not talking about paint? unless we talking about the rainbow with bungle in it?

    Right... Fair enough... :)

But I was hoping to make a wider point!

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 12:23

Giggles, can you fix it for me to have a black rainbow (unless it disrupts the fabric of space)?

Ah I didn't see that second bit...

    *pop*

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)03/09/2009 at 12:23

if we're talking about rainbows, we're not talking about paint? unless we talking about the rainbow with bungle in it?

Up above the streets and houses!

Is that still on TV? Have you guys seen the parody they made with loads of rude sounding words?

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 12:23

Up above the streets and houses!

    :)

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 12:23

    Isn't that Joseph?

Oh dear, i know musicals far to well if i can definatly say no!

    Josephs's Coat

    I can sing a rainbow

    'hangs head in shame'

  • Paul03/09/2009 at 12:24

    'hangs head in shame'

I was sure I was singing those colour lines in year 7. Hmmmmm.

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 12:26

Noooo. Not any more it doesn't. In fact it only ever did for a select few. Very few athletes I knew got much at all.

But stephanie rice got her own tv show!

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 12:27

I was sure I was singing those colour lines in year 7. Hmmmmm.

    Year 7! ?

I think i may have stopped before year 1 :P

  • Paul03/09/2009 at 12:28

I think i may have stopped before year 1 :P

I was quite the performer for a month or so

  • Paul03/09/2009 at 12:28

But stephanie rice got her own tv show!

    Select few.

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 12:29

I was quite the performer for a month or so

hehehe, its not something you ever loose....

all you need is a webcam and a mic... we have a live streaming page!

  • Paul03/09/2009 at 12:30

hehehe, its not something you ever loose....

    Oh yes it is.

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 12:30

    Select few.

True, but the system is flawed.

the people who find success should feed the cash back in to fund others, at the very least they should cover the costs of their training.

Its a bit rude, its all inuendo though, nothing is actualy said.

    possibly not family friendly

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)03/09/2009 at 12:34

Oh I hope so - but I can't view it as I am at work - I'm so sorry - it looked OK when I checked it out :(

The video itself should be fine - there's no swearing but loads of double entendre - if you didn't know any better it would sound normal :)

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 12:35

Are we now in the time window where i can have Cider and not feel bad? or an alchoholic?

you can but no more than 2-3. ;)

  • F1Wolf03/09/2009 at 12:35

I see there are still some willywebber facts on twitter. I thought that will be over once it became clear he got his facts right about Schumi's return :-)

  • Kathi03/09/2009 at 12:45

    new thread?

agreed. christine, are you on it or shall i?

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 12:46

    new thread?

If Kimi does go to Lotus Sauber (not that that is genuinely likely) it might be the first problem of cross thread thingys

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)03/09/2009 at 12:46

OK, so we wait a whole month for the ING Renault F1 podcast, and it's only 12 minutes long? What gives?

  • Christine03/09/2009 at 12:47

agreed. christine, are you on it or shall i?

    Two seconds.

    Everyone stop talking!

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 12:47

OK, so we wait a whole month for the ING Renault F1 podcast, and it's only 12 minutes long? What gives?

they're not that fussed about podcasting anymore? budget cuts?

Or is it missing a piece because someone may have commented on the allegations (which had to have been removed)?

It's less than half the usual length...

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 12:49

    Kimi to McLaren thread

You may have missed that one

  • me03/09/2009 at 12:49

    Kimi to McLaren thread

fair enough, but that's also like saying yesterday's daily conversation was in yesterday's thread. it is, but you can link.

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 12:51

fair enough, but that's also like saying yesterday's daily conversation was in yesterday's thread. it is, but you can link.

Sure... I was flagging it up as a kind of future thingy.

I still think, the more I think about it, the breakout thread thing is the awesomeness mainly because everyone can understand it :)

  • me03/09/2009 at 13:56

so here's a question. now it feels like we should start a fisi confirmed thread. or is that just madness?

  • Christine03/09/2009 at 13:56

so here's a question. now it feels like we should start a fisi confirmed thread. or is that just madness?

What's wrong with the other one? I can update it if that would help.

  • me03/09/2009 at 13:57

What's wrong with the other one? I can update it if that would help.

maybe. was thinking that was speculation. this is confirmation.

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 13:57

What's wrong with the other one? I can update it if that would help.

Sounds good, can you bump it up to the top of the site though?

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 13:58

maybe. was thinking that was speculation. this is confirmation.

could you keep the same post but just update it?

    yup nathan: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/78280

we're on the other thread though. it's confusing, we need a new one.

  • Amy03/09/2009 at 14:01

    the Lotus one didn't :D

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 14:02

oh yeah, i'd forgotten about that!!!

The thing is that these multiple threads now don't work when things are going really fast - and people aren't using the doohicky.

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 14:03

The thing is that these multiple threads now don't work when things are going really fast - and people aren't using the doohicky.

I am using doohicky and i seem to be constantly on the wrong thread!

Yeah there is that problem as well - hmmm

  • Christine03/09/2009 at 14:04

we're on the other thread though. it's confusing, we need a new one.

Hmm. Adding yet another thread doesn't seem like a good plan right now.

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:04

The thing is that these multiple threads now don't work when things are going really fast - and people aren't using the doohicky.

putting my newbie hat on. if you come to the homepage. there is no thread for fisi confirmed at ferrari. i'm really not fussed about us or doohickey when it comes to this we'll learn, adapt and fix stuff... later.

the question for at the moment, is only... how does it look from the outside.

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:06

Hmm. Adding yet another thread doesn't seem like a good plan right now.

understood. i am trying to tear up sidepodcast and put it back together again. apologies.

in my heart i really think doohickey has broken something, in the sense that it's a stream of conciseness, and everything gets filed under misc.

  • Nathan03/09/2009 at 14:06

Well I came directly into live commenting. Seems I"m on the daily thread

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 14:06

    Agreed... Sure...

You need like the active threads to be like the active tags on twitter on the right?

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:07

I am using doohicky and i seem to be constantly on the wrong thread!

yes. because your here and now. tomorrow looking back, and in the future, it'll actually be a useful conversation.

  • Kathi03/09/2009 at 14:07

Maybe it's a good idea to pick up Fisi for you FR team, if you hadn't already.

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 14:08

Do you start a new thread about who the new driver at Force India will be?

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:08

You need like the active threads to be like the active tags on twitter on the right?

like the thing at the bottom of the page?

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:09

Do you start a new thread about who the new driver at Force India will be?

when it's confirmed, i think so? but until then the speculation follows on in the fisi confirmed thread?

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 14:09

like the thing at the bottom of the page?

Yeah but I mean on the right of the homepage... And probably ordered by comments in the last 10 minutes / hour / day or something. Actually velocity is what you want like digg and reddit

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 14:09

Maybe it's a good idea to pick up Fisi for you FR team, if you hadn't already.

I have Button, Webber, Barrichello, Vettel, Raikkonen. Who do i sell?

  • Christine03/09/2009 at 14:12

Here is your new thread: http://www.sidepodcast.com/2009/09/03/fisichella-confirmed-at-ferrari/

I have no idea what comments you want moving.

  • Kathi03/09/2009 at 14:12

I have Button, Webber, Barrichello, Vettel, Raikkonen. Who do i sell?

Button or Webber because their prices are falling. You can pick them back up after FP2 depending on your other drivers' form.

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:12

Yeah but I mean on the right of the homepage... And probably ordered by comments in the last 10 minutes / hour / day or something. Actually velocity is what you want like digg and reddit

got ya. so ordered by popularity?

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:13

I have no idea what comments you want moving.

not sure either. i don't have answers :)

i will post that link in the speculation thread too.

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:14

I have no idea what comments you want moving.

this is only crazy to people using doohickey by the way. close doohickey and it makes much more sense.

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 14:16

I think it could be usefull here!

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 14:21

This was announced by force india

    Ferrari announced it as well

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:23

Remember my sugestion about a colour coded doohicky?

the only issue for me, is it's a pain to switch active threads.

i see christine's point that we already had a thread, we need to think about that, it might be something we can fix in the redesign.

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 14:24

the only issue for me, is it's a pain to switch active threads.

Could you have it setup so the drop menu only conrolls the quick comment box, and clicking reply on any comment will reply to that comment in the right thread?

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:24

Could you have it setup so the drop menu only conrolls the quick comment box, and clicking reply on any comment will reply to that comment in the right thread?

we had that. it was a nightmare.

  • Christine03/09/2009 at 14:25

Could you have it setup so the drop menu only conrolls the quick comment box, and clicking reply on any comment will reply to that comment in the right thread?

    NOOOOO!

  • RCC03/09/2009 at 14:25

    Hi all & Mr/Mrs C

Is there a link to the Fisi press conference?

I’ve only just listened to the Podcast, were you referring to me to send in some more audio samples etc? Do you want to forward on the ones you already onto the people that need them?

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 14:25

    NOOOOO!

    I could see that coming!

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:26

    NOOOOO!

    I could see that coming!

hehe. was nick not around when we turned doohickey off?

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 14:27

Could you have it setup so the drop menu only conrolls the quick comment box, and clicking reply on any comment will reply to that comment in the right thread?

I did suggest you could have a thread changer next to the bit on the right which has the thread name.

It does need at least 2 clicks.

  • Christine03/09/2009 at 14:27

the only issue for me, is it's a pain to switch active threads.

The real problem is people see the two solutions as very separate things, myself included. It's one or the other, instead of making the best use of both. When the live thing is across more of the site, I think it will make a difference.

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 14:27

we had that. it was a nightmare.

hehe. was nick not around when we turned doohickey off?

    What happened?

  • Amy03/09/2009 at 14:28

hehe. was nick not around when we turned doohickey off?

i still feel bad about that *hides*

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 14:28

hehe. was nick not around when we turned doohickey off?

    Dark days...

You had a doohicky! In my day you had an F5 button and were 'appy!

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:29

    What happened?

i got a bit stressed out by doohickey. people (inc. me) would hit reply on the wrong thread and the conversation was impossible to follow in anything other than doochickey.

it was literally as good as useless.

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 14:29

i still feel bad about that *hides*

    The plot thickens...

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 14:30

    What happened?

People basically constantly ended up in the wrong thread all the time... Conversation would flow back and forth across all the treads... One person would change thread and everyone would follow them... A thread like Steven's Sidepodradio one would have 500 comments about unicorns needing to be better represented in the worlds zoos

  • RCC03/09/2009 at 14:30

    Okay i'm finally gonna ask

Doohickey? What, why, what will it do for me?

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:30

it was literally as good as useless.

or rather the site became as good as useless.

in fact we've sort of gone the other way now. everything is in daily, end of. that's nowhere near as bad, but it would be nice to at least keep the f1 convo organised a little.

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 14:30

i got a bit stressed out by doohickey. people (inc. me) would hit reply on the wrong thread and the conversation was impossible to follow in anything other than doochickey.

Ah right, i guess that could be confusing!

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 14:30

The real problem is people see the two solutions as very separate things, myself included. It's one or the other, instead of making the best use of both. When the live thing is across more of the site, I think it will make a difference.

Agreed... The site redesign is Number 0 priority I guess!

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:31

A thread like Steven's Sidepodradio one would have 500 comments about unicorns needing to be better represented in the worlds zoos

worse though, steven's thread would have had HALF a conversation about unicorns. the other half was on the daily.

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:31

Agreed... The site redesign is Number 0 priority I guess!

doing it tonight. plan was to start again on tues, but events overtook us.

Oh Christine, I sent you an email with a guest post thing for the show I'm doing with Steven. However, now I've viewed what Steven's written about his other show, I think maybe I should have written a bit more :P

See what you think. If you think it would benefit from being fleshed out, just let me know and I'll happily do it.

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 14:32

worse though, steven's thread would have had HALF a conversation about unicorns. the other half was on the daily.

Yup. And every day at midnight the horror would begin again!

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 14:33

doing it tonight. plan was to start again on tues, but events overtook us.

Ah priority -1 I know that one... Ooops...

Luckily there isn't a race this weekend or a mini-series

    or an anything...

    Do you have Balsamiq?

  • Alison03/09/2009 at 14:34

Also, would a valid interim solution to the thread changing problem be to pin the drop-down menu to the top of the doohickey so you could always see it, no matter how far down you scrolled?

  • me03/09/2009 at 14:34

Yup. And every day at midnight the horror would begin again!

i coulda cried. in someways the overnight switchover is still a bit broken, but it's not today's primary issue.

  • Christine03/09/2009 at 14:34

Yup. And every day at midnight the horror would begin again!

Just looking at some of the daily posts from when the Doohickey was AWOL:

In Sidepodcast news, you may have noticed the Doohickey has disappeared, and is currently redirecting to the LCLT. We got in a bit of a mess with comments yesterday and couldn’t afford the admin overhead to sort out all the posts to the correct threads.

It’s been a rough weekend in Sidepodcast Towers what with The Case of the Disappearing Doohickey, and Mr C’s Illness: The Return. However, we’re into a new week so things must be looking up already.

Perhaps in the future, yesterday should forever be known as Newhickey Day. We discussed the Doohickey problems in the comments and came up with a way forward. Mr C put in a good few hours work and lo and behold, the doohickey is back.

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 14:34

In some parts of Corwall and the Outer Hebrides they still celebrate Newhicky Day

cross browser floaty stuff isn't easy. plus i don't really want to work on doohickey right now. see previous comment.

Just looking at some of the daily posts from when the Doohickey was AWOL:

Also, it seems whilst Mr C was busy banging his head against a desk, I was recording Felipe Baby. Some people have all the fun :)

Ah okay. Fair play. It's not a pressing issue for me. I'm still not really a full doohickey convert!

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 14:38

The radio tells me Finland are loosing 3-2 to England in women's football (Sorry Amy)

I am going to invent a voice-recognition system where you tell the computer what you want and it codes itself.

    or maybe I'm not.

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 14:38

So yes Balsamiq http://balsamiq.com/ is a way that you can draw things and make clicking on bits of your drawings go to other bits of your drawings so you can decide without having to write the code or nuffink!

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 14:39

I am going to invent a voice-recognition system where you tell the computer what you want and it codes itself.

If you want to see Amy banging her head against the wall ask her to invent a voice-recognition system where you tell the computer what you want and it codes itself.

Can it be fully made in very basic HTML? It's the only computery language I know ;)

  • Alison03/09/2009 at 14:42

Awwww I've just got the most thoughtful gift from my bf! I'm an Italian speaker although I've probably let it get a bit rusty of late. He's just sent me some Italian novels and an advanced vocabulary reference with all the sorts of words and phrases you get in novels and don't find in normal dictionaries.

It's so sweet, just totally out of the blue.

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 15:04

Yeah!! And somehow he's managed to track down a book full of really simple Italian crosswords. Which seems like quite a feat in itself.

Hmmm I'm skeptical that they've come from India! The postmark says Leeds. I think his mother might have been involved at some stage :P

There was a letter from India in with them though.

  • Alison03/09/2009 at 15:16

Lovely! What did you get? Any Italo Calvino?

No. I've never tried a whole novel before this is terrifying. I have a book of short stories. Then I have 2 that are obviously designed for Italian children to ease me into it. Then I have 2 proper novels for grown ups. It's gonna take me about 3 years to plough through all this.

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 15:17

I thought they had blue milky bars for a miniute there

  • Alison03/09/2009 at 15:18

Are you saying Alison's other half has done something wrong?

To be honest, I was still pretty annoyed about the whole cricket fiasco :P

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 15:19

No. I've never tried a whole novel before this is terrifying. I have a book of short stories. Then I have 2 that are obviously designed for Italian children to ease me into it. Then I have 2 proper novels for grown ups. It's gonna take me about 3 years to plough through all this.

Reading children's books is a really good way in. Actually I would strongly recommend Harry Potter for this kind of thing. If you know the story it can really help. But it sounds like you have enough on your plate!

I wondered about Calvino because he is one of those novelists who is amazing in English but rumoured to be doubly so in the original Italian. On a winter's night a traveller...

To be fair though the book is confusing enough in English so perhaps not the place to start.

  • Alison03/09/2009 at 15:23

To be fair though the book is confusing enough in English so perhaps not the place to start.

Hehehe. I'll see how I get on with these. I'll pop it on my list of things to look up. My Italian needs a lot of work! I did A Level and got really into it at the time, but it's been somewhat neglected since then.

Do you speak it? No-one does Italian. People all think I'm mental because I speak it better than I do French or Spanish.

And I love Italy as a country.

  • Alison03/09/2009 at 16:06

Maybe he's got a drive with one of the new teams? I can't see him staying at Ferrari. He's not been used as a driver in the car even when the team knew Badoer would be slow. I can't see that he's going to have a future at Maranello. This was his best opportunity to get a drive in the car and they've not given it to him.

They must rate him pretty badly if they've favoured Badoer over him!

hehe. just been a good week really. i like f1 news that's good news and today we've had it in abundance. alex didn't ruin his machine when he upgraded and i've just listened to jon's song again.

    ...ok, it was the song.

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 17:45

    ...ok, it was the song.

    aaaaaaah yeah ;)

it's been in my head alll day :D

  • Janna03/09/2009 at 17:46

Perhaps they should put it on prescription, keep everyone happy :-)

  • me03/09/2009 at 17:46

jeremy vine played the original today, added a mental note he must be a sidepodder too.

I'm catching up on podcasts. Why is only Mr C allowed to talk to Joe? It feels like ages since he spoke to both Mr & Mrs C

  • Lukeh03/09/2009 at 17:48

it's been in my head alll day :D

In more 80s legendaryness, I have been singing Nineteen to myself all day today, which is kinda strange as the song came into my head for a rubbish reason!

    N-n-n-n-n-nineteen.

    :D

    absolutely.

    or...

the last couple of conversations have been on schoolnights, and christine has to get up early.

for various reasons, friday chats haven't happened in a while, so it's easier for me to do it solo, given i don't have to be up anytime before midday.

    Marmite cheese

Does it taste of Marmite and cheese? Or is it like the... what are they called... the little disc snack things... don't taste anything like either cheese or Marmite...

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 18:13

    I dont!

    ahh ok :)

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 18:13

the man raises a good question in my head...

why dont you just buy some marmite and some cheese?

  • Pat W03/09/2009 at 18:13

Does it taste of Marmite and cheese? Or is it like the... what are they called... the little disc snack things... don't taste anything like either cheese or Marmite...

These are important matters, even if I didn't work for a cheese company.

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 18:14

Does it taste of Marmite and cheese? Or is it like the... what are they called... the little disc snack things... don't taste anything like either cheese or Marmite...

It actually tastes of marmite and cheese!

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 18:15

why dont you just buy some marmite and some cheese?

Well i have both, but i thought i would try it.

My family are quite into cheese for some reason... where they live in aus there are quite a few dairy's which make there own cheese.

Best one i had was wassabi chedder, it was amazing!

  • Pat W03/09/2009 at 18:16

I may need to conduct back-to-back tests.

no worries. it needs doing too.

it was only brief. i said... "i'll be commenting less, because i'm working on new stuff". unless the good lady cut that sentence out?

"working on new stuff" doesn't necessarily translate to "I'm designing the new site and it'll be in the playground soon" :-)

i was fine in my lesson, the most relaxed i've ever been. then mum sits in the car and starts being all jumpy, which makes me nervous, plus the clutch on my car is way more sensitive than the clutch on my instructors car... it's not a recipe for great driving :(

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 18:48

It is cold. Wet. Dark. There is no live F1 and no live F1-related things.

By contrast, the season means F1, warm weather, F1, sun, F1, being relaxed and not hunkered down trying to survive...

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 19:39

the off season is sad.. it always feels too long, and i miss having sundays. sundays to me are race days ;)

    I miss it too.

We need races until mid December, car launches in January, testing in February, season starts again 1st weekend of march.

  • Pat W03/09/2009 at 19:40

it sure felt non-stop around here.

  • Lukeh03/09/2009 at 19:41

I love the Winter! I love the cold, and the snuggly nights with it getting dark early and hugging up to a pillow when its all cold and the festive feeling. That I love!

No F1 is the worst thing about it. Plus, last year, no f1 was replaced with working sundays. THIS IS NOT A VIABLE REPLACEMENT.

    ;)

  • Alison03/09/2009 at 19:41

I don't know how I'm going to manage this next off-season! The last one, I wasn't really so into my F1. I'd just got into it to watch the last 2 races of the season so I wasn't really missing anything I'd gotten used to.

  • Christine03/09/2009 at 19:41

We need races until mid December, car launches in January, testing in February, season starts again 1st weekend of march.

    We most certainly do not!

You really are trying to kill us, I'm sure of it.

  • lou03/09/2009 at 19:41

You had a doohicky! In my day you had an F5 button and were 'appy!

I love the Winter! I love the cold, and the snuggly nights with it getting dark early and hugging up to a pillow when its all cold and the festive feeling. That I love!

    How can anyone LIKE cold?

  • Steven Roy03/09/2009 at 19:42

Evening all. Looks like I have missed nothing important today

  • Lukeh03/09/2009 at 19:42

    Hehehe

If you can make it untill monza next year...Amy can assimilate you then it will all be fine!

Madness. Right now it is too cold. I won't be a nice person come November.

  • Steven Roy03/09/2009 at 19:44

  • me03/09/2009 at 19:44

How can anyone not like being hot?

i didn't say that. i like heat too. mostly i like everything today.

    carry on.

  • Alison03/09/2009 at 19:44

Cold is amazing!! I'm a Winter person.

Hot makes me red, uncomfortable and eventually unconscious :P

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 19:45

Madness. Right now it is too cold. I won't be a nice person come November.

The only bit i don't like about Winter is having to wear shorts....i wear Shorts from late-Feb to mid-end-October, then i have to wear Jeans between October and Feb.

  • Lukeh03/09/2009 at 19:45

How can anyone not like being hot?

Because it's overrated!! Cold is wear it's at

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 19:45

Hot makes me red, uncomfortable and eventually unconscious :P

Same, apart from the unconscious bit

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 19:46

How can anyone not like being hot?

    I hate being hot

  • Steven Roy03/09/2009 at 19:46

Hot makes me red, uncomfortable and eventually unconscious :P

Cold makes you blue, uncomfortable and eventually unconcious and eventually bits start falling off.

  • lou03/09/2009 at 19:46

Lou does your dislike of it have anything to do with last years brawn-stress bucket

something bad always happens in the off season for me.. the off season used to feel reeeeallllyy looooong, and horrible and dark, and i'd literally ache for the racing, it's always a stressful time at school and everything, plus last year's brawn/honda disaster..... off season = very bad. i just hate the missing racing feeling.

however last off season did seem to go by reasonably quickly. off season without Spc would not be bearable. however i do love that feeling you get at the beginning of the new season though, all wrapped up in a duvet and waiting for the race at silly o'clock in the morning :D

  • Pat W03/09/2009 at 19:46

But really, is the highlight of an athlete's career a SPOTY? Seems petty to say something like that if it's just a glorified popularity contest?

If you believe the BBC it is the highest accolade anybody can bestow upon you.

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 19:47

however i do love that feeling you get at the beginning of the new season though, all wrapped up in a duvet and waiting for the race at silly o'clock in the morning :D

  • lou03/09/2009 at 19:48

omg being cold is one of the best things ever! the cold is amazing! i'll take being cold opposed to being hot any day of the week.

  • Alison03/09/2009 at 19:49

Cold makes you blue, uncomfortable and eventually unconcious and eventually bits start falling off.

I've never passed out from the cold before! I've passed out from the heat 5 times and been to hospital twice as a result of it (considering I've never been out of Europe I think it's quite impressive....)

  • lou03/09/2009 at 19:49

    GP2 asia? A1GP (potentially)

there is no jenson... plus i can never remember when the races are... plus there is no croftie or Ant ;)

  • Pat W03/09/2009 at 19:49

The best bit is if you've left your window open, then when you wake up you turn the pillow over!

  • Lukeh03/09/2009 at 19:50

  • lou03/09/2009 at 19:51

it's always so exciting and makes the off season worth it.. however i don't like the off season much.. this off season is going to be full of revision. the 2009 finale, and 2010 season better be worth it! :P

  • me03/09/2009 at 19:51

    what if Jenson wins?

it will count in the championship, but it wont feel like the season has started till Australia ;)

  • Pat W03/09/2009 at 19:56

the official calender hasn't been confirmed yet has it? Australia HAS to be the season opener.. Bahrain just wont count..

That's how it felt last time. Bahrain felt like a big preseason test. I think it was because nobody was there.

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 19:57

Stupid horrible boring lifeless soulles tilke bahrain... grrr

i like having Brazil as the last race... it works for me, because you have to wait most of the day.. and you get this big build up, then the evening to discuss it etc. what would you do with the rest of the day?

Brazil is a good last race. The good thing about Australia was that it was only the serious fans who watched it live

The second space walk of the current shuttle mission starts in just over an hours time. They are going to install a new ammonia tank for the ISS cooling system to replace the tank that was removed during the last spacewalk. The old tank has been left dangling on the end of the space station's robotic arm as it can't be stowed in the shuttle's payload until the new one is removed.

Looks like today's spacewalk will be a little late in starting. One of the astronauts had a problem with a loose chinstrap on the cap inside his helmet. This caused airflow to pass straight over his mics making all sorts of odd noises. They have had to remove his helmet and are now having to go through the whole helmet purgining process again.

I think this is based on the fact he and the team have exchanged emails.

This may mean he is joining us on the Spa trip as well though so they might need a reserve driver that weekend. :P

    He could beat Badoer!

  • Steven Roy03/09/2009 at 21:01

    A helmet what now?

They have fixed his chin strap and his helmet is back on. They have to go through a whole pre-breathing process starting with the camp out in the airlock the night before. They have to get nitrogen out of the blood just like divers. The helmet was only off for a short time so they have to put him back on pure oxygen for a while. It shouldn't cause a great delay.

They are suggesting that it will take 22 minutes from now before they can start de-pressurising the airlock.

  • me03/09/2009 at 21:01

    He could beat Badoer!

    well... yes...

i'm not sure that's much to be proud of though?

literally the only thing we used it for is to determine regular commenters. if you use the same name/email combo you're unlikely to go into spam once approved. also to find first comments, and to aggregate comment totals at the end of the year.

I also just had a comment fail.... This is why I can't deal with doohickey :P

I didn't notice there was a new thread and am pottering away in the daily quite merrily :(

So it would be a bit like Lou interviewing Jenson (or his dad)?

ahaha I could never meet Jenson, i think my feet would just freeze, interviewing him would be impossible. i've only ever giggled in that way twice now... once when i met John Button, and once on the podium in Valencia... other than that i'm relatively normal ;)

  • Alison03/09/2009 at 22:06

Ok alison, trying to use the live thingy now, not sure I am commenting on the right thread, or which thread at all in fact!

Yup, you've found us!! I think the new idea is to try and keep the panda love out of the proper threads :( We're all just getting used to it at the moment. The doohickey lets you see all the posts in all the threads on the site live as they're posted.

If that's not what you're after, you can view one thread at a time here http://www.sidepodcast.com/livecommenting

  • Jon Waldock03/09/2009 at 22:15

Do you think that Chrome maybe does not support the wiki, not sure how to add links or anything?

It does suck a bit, if you have another browser avaliable then use it, you may find that you can't do formatting with the wiki in chrome. If not, then dont worry :)

  • Andy Taylor03/09/2009 at 22:15

Don't diss the 13 Amp plug. It is true that it is the most painful thing you can step on, but it it also one of the most brilliant pieces of design ever. Everything about it has been carefully thought out to provide the most safe plug/socket in the world.

I'd say Fisi suits Ferrari gear rather well, don't you?

So when do we think FI will announce Liuzzi, tomorrow?

  • Alex Andronov03/09/2009 at 23:01

Evening everyone. I am in a cab on my way home from the theatre.

I bumped into one of the most famous people alive. Sadly I can't tell you the details as it's got to be saved for a Gamboling article.

The worst thing is that I have to get up at five fifteen tomorrow.

  • Steven Roy03/09/2009 at 23:01

    Hi BC

  • Nick03/09/2009 at 23:01

In the process of killing my foot on the plug i seem to have broken a nail.

This has never happened before, can anyone advise?

  • Scott Woodwiss03/09/2009 at 23:01

Did anyone spot this in Autosport's story on Fisi's Ferrari drive from Mallya:

"For any Italian driver, a Ferrari race seat is a long-held dream and for Giancarlo it was no exception. No one should stand in the way of this. Furthermore the agreement will secure Giancarlo's long-term future with Ferrari and it would be incorrect to jeopardise this, particularly when Giancarlo has made such a vital contribution to Force India."

So that's pretty much confirming Fis will be a Ferrari test driver.

Murray Walker? Milli Vanilli? Luca Badoer?

That hurts more than stepping on a plug.
