Good day to you!, with the Monaco GP behind us and the next race in Canada not until the following weekend we get a small breather from Formula One action.
F1 News
- After the closing stages of the Monaco Grand Prix came to a rather unspectaulcar end after the red flag incident, Pirelli have called for the rule allowing tyre changes to be changed. The current rule is seemingly in place for changable races where during the red flag period the condidtions have changed and a different set of tyres would be needed.
- After his accident in qualifying Sergio Perez has been released from hospital and is expecing to be racing in Canada.
- The aftermath of Lewis Hamilton's after race interview is rumbling on, whilst Lewis has visited the stewards to apologise, Jackie Stewart has criticised the 2008 World Champion. Lewis has also taken to twitter to apologise to the other drivers for his comments.
- Last year at the British GP at Silverstone, Fernando Alonso told his team and the world that he could still win the Championship at the time he was over 40 points adrift. Well this year the race at Silverstone will either be the end or the start of fightback from Fernando Of course if Vettel wins everything before it, then it will come to an end a lot sooner.
- Paul di Resta is frustrated with himself over how his first visit to Monaco in an F1 car went, after finishing 12th after recieving a drive through penalty.
SidepodNews
- With yesterday being Monday it means there are some new tweets of the week most of which are about the action packed weekend in Monaco.
- With today being Tuesday, it can mean only one thing its Rankings day! If you've seen anything you think a driver might deserves points for, now is the time to bring it to Christine's attention.
Once more I shall leave you with a video, this time with Nico Rosberg and the Mercedes team explaining how gearboxes work:
I have a man-crush on Nico Rosberg.
I just think he looks like a teenager in that still shot....
Aww, I'm glad we have fostered an atmosphere where people can admit such things :)
I blame the haircut.
When I saw the still shot I was trying to figure out how they got a young Nico on this year's car
I am very impressed that Germany has decided to get rid of nuclear power. Can't imagine that happening in many countries
There's a man on the news called John Smith. I bet that is not his real name.
is he bitter?
I think he was talking about trains.
It must be a slow news day.
:)
Well it's the getting rid of it that causes all the problems really....

Wow, either I did something wrong or someone's completely bossed the TMR game this week..
As in, done really well? Was it Indy?
True but better to be shutting it down and not producing any more than continuing to produce more and more. Well after 2022 anyway.
Did really well, nearly 50 points clear of the next player. Strong F1 score plus a pretty good Indy score when everyone else's Indy score collapsed with the fortunes of Ganassi and Penske.
One race can make all the difference!
I'm kind of mad at him that first he made me not dislike him, then he made me actually want him to win, then he got a haircut and suddenly he looked a million times more attractive. Damn him.
Fair enough. I think I'm too used to minor radioactive spills. I'm more surprised there aren't more major incidents. Maybe they just get hushed up :P
Oh dear. No that look really isn't my kind of thing. Too Barbie.
Absolutely!
it was very Barbie when it was long, once he cut it off it was more normal man like. And I generally never go for blonde ones! I blame Schumacher for all of this.
He is definitely better looking now than before.
phew, glad I'm not alone in thinking this :)
He looks about 10 years younger though. It feels a bit wrong.
he looks very young in that video which is creepy because he hasn't looked like that in every other picture/video I've seen him in recently!
Was this the video where Schumacher pretended to be Rosberg?
Good insight, crazy when it is explained, all that force through 35kg of gearbox and it shifts seamlessly too.
(always thought it odd the way they pronounced Allianz)
I am sure they do
I did not realise Rosberg was still 25, I thought he was 26 already.
As I am also 25 I feel I should have cake to celebrate
#anyexcuseforcake
You are going to have cake because a driver is the same age as you? You should have a cake every time you find a new driver who is younger than you. THen in a few years you get cake every time a new driver shows up
Gordon Brown went to see it one day and they discovered Sellafield had been leaking radioactive water for over a year. Oops.
The Simpsons is more accurate than people realise.
I like the way you think.
Can I do this for tennis players too? Marcell Granollers was born on the same day in the same year as me, that's definitely worth cake!
Must be due to change it's name again
True :)
:D
Best excuse ever. Who is he? Never heard of him
Normally it's just acid they spill. Makes you wonder if they're that careless with everything they're handling. Probably is the answer...
he is #47 in the world, Spanish, better at doubles than singles :)
Almost certainly
Doubles = 2 cakes
:D
Genius.
yes!
Stoopid shows that are longer than an hour. Mr C will not be impressed.
THe rest of us will be

Who is going to be in Montreal? Thinking of a night on the beers. Who wants some? Let's do this! Bring it!
Some journos will charge you for a night in their company. Me? No way. Beers. F1 chat. General fun. Lets do this. #Montreal2011
:)
oh lord I'd love to be there, it'd be like watching a carcrash.
As long as it's not Friday night....
There is also the saying "You get what you pay for"
he has a benefit over Joe in that I'm sure he draws a regular salary from Speed so doesn't need to come up with new ways of making money
Cheeky :)
Don't get him drunk and mention the ex!
Tidying up the TMRG blog post I find the first proper event for the reopened Red Bull Ring is next Sunday, DTM.
Also the debut of the new Silverstone pits in race conditions, GT1.

Gee, why does it not surprize me that the Canadian Grand Prix main Nightlife Hangout centre, namely the Interestions of Rue Crescent Street - Rue Ste. Catharine Street is also basically the centre of the Student residences and auxillaries of MacGill Univesity ?
Pub Crawl 101, Beer 101, Wine 101 and a major in Booze.....
You are a bit off. The McGill Ghetto is a dozen or so blocks east and a few north. There are some Concodia students not too far away, to the west. But it certainly is crawlable. There are tons of upscale places on St. Denis and St. Laurent. Don't forget the old port.... Joe didn't forget the old port!

And a goodnight!
Very. Amy's right, though - Will has a regular salary, which Joe does not.
At least Joe will have the photographers on his side. They don't like to see anyone giving stuff away for free
:D
Just watched Blatter's press con. The guy is just out of whack.
Evening. Anyone around ?

Careful Bert, you head a few blocks North and you are actually on the grounds of Universite de Montreal on the other side of the hill from MacGill. I may not have been exact when I hit the correct centre of all the residences, but there are quite a few along Cresent, and really, for the True Student, Residences is wherever they happen to be passed out from drinking....

Excellent! More meat for you then ;)
Hi Gavin,
How are you today?
Hey Leigh, I'm well thanks. How are you?
I gave up running and went back to cycling - was out by 5.30 this morning getting in about 5 miles
:)
Not too bad - a little on the tired side, but ahh well.
:)
Good stuff man!
I posted this late last night, so in case you missed it, I spliced Lewis Hamilton's post monaco race interview into the Barbra Streisand song by Duck Sauce: http://bit.ly/jCogAp
Hope you find the song as funny as I did making it! :)
Will check it at lunch
:)
I'm glad someone agrees with me. No one here seemed concerned at the time.
What I said at the time couldn't be repeated here!
The fact that bundle tracked flav down on the grid to ask if he was coming back to f1 was appalling
Gridwalks usually are.

hooray, I shall not have to wait til August 11 to watch Senna because it's on as part of the Melbourne International Film Festival which starts on the 21st of July. It's only a few days, but it's good news #thanksPamela
To think, Senna hits the cinema's proper here on Friday
the ITWA have responded:

"Did 2 F1 races on Sunday,1 long one 1 short one. In the short race you can change wings, tyres, engine, oops where's the 1000 page rulebook?!" Mark Webber
Ahhh yes...
:D
Will be doing the rankings a bit earlier today, so all suggestions gratefully received.
Oooh... I don't know if you caught it but Lewis made a joke during his interview with Lee McKenzie ;)
:)
Plus points for Red Bull for having EJ thrown in the pool?
;)
I think timo should get points for being extra chatty on twitter yesterday
Also matching jake, by posting a view of the view from his seat http://yfrog.com/gyxqmcrj
Hehe, that may be the dullest game ever though :)
It shows he is reading twitter properly though, not just sending out press releases like some people!
My friend recorded the karting which killed my arms last night on a go-pro attached to his helmet.
Came out pretty good
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJXxAqYu9_E
Did you win?
That's awesome. It won't help me convince Mr C he doesn't need one though.
hehe, it was just a practice session.
I much prefer the outdoor track so i dont think I will be racing on that one
Is that a no :P
Hahaa ... props to Qwertee for today's shirt
http://www.qwertee.com/
:D
I want one too,
Im gonna take my camcorder spearfishing this weekend to see how much you can see, maybe convince myself i need one :)
No no no!!!!
If you do exciting things with spears, you might get use of it. Mr C just sits at his desk!
He could live broadcast his coding? :)
I'm pretty sure that's not what the designers are hoping for :)

Nice!
The crowd at the French Open do love to boo and hiss. You don't get this at Wimbledon.
i feel soo sorry for that ball boy :(
hello :)
More Buxton Domestics flying on twitter.
They should have there own tv show for weekendss without f1
the French crowd are horrible, as much as I enjoy booing inside my head sometimes :)
Seems harsh that Murray has lost the crowd and he didn't even do anything wrong this time!
Yeah I don't quite get that one...
I'm not sure he ever had them. But it's OK, the Times reporter seemed to want to give him a war medal for being such a hero *rolls eyes*
:D
I want one, too. A couple of the other guys I kart with have them. They're not that expensive, really! But I should be spending my money on other more important things. Like a Rib protector.
heres a selection of my favourite tweets:
Am twists right ankle running for short ball! In agony. Falls to ground. Oh no!
He's going to play on. Walking gingerly. Heart in mouth time.
Murray wants trainer again at this changeover to strengthen strapping I presume. Playing on guts now. And sheer talent.
What a sport this is. Berrer does not quite know what to do against one-legged AM. 1-0 with a break to Murray in 3rd.
One legged! Give me a break! As one of my friends tweeted in the middle of the AM love fest
"WHAT A SPORT THIS IS. A slightly gimpy #4 in the world is still beating the #95 in the world. WHAT A SPORT."
*barfs a little*
:D
Good grief. I dread to think how distraught they'll be when he loses this.
I'm not sure this journo actually gets to go to any matches because the people in the press seats aren't allowed to appear biased.
he may not loose #icandream :)
Hehe. It ain't over till it's over.
But it's not looking good. :)
oh Lou, just embrace the constant disappointment :D
no.. no it's not :(
Mr C said to me: "Are you watching Tim Henman again today?"
Yea, it's pretty much like that. :)
:D i never gave up on Jenson and honda.. and they gave me a championship.. maybe Andy will do the...
ah who am i kidding ;)
Has Wozniacki lost yet?
:D
I get sad when Andy loses because it means I can't see Judy any more.
In other news, the Murray who actually has a slam is still in the mixed doubles :)
I read today that your new princess might be giving out the trophies at Wimbledon.
Your princess!
hehe yes i saw! playing later today i believe? :)
I guess they have to find something for her to do.
Oh, I saw Countess (former Princess) Alexandra on Sunday night as we went to see the Danish Girls' choir and she's the protector...
Pamela had a Wills + Kate 20c coin the other day. I didn't realise that Australia minted those. They looked like skeletons on it.
not before 3pm French time :)
She's not even a princess. Stoopid royals.
oh Viktor.
Gosh, we should be down on Murray more often.
Ping: http://sidepodcast.com/post/tonio-liuzzi-gets-some-points-on-the-board-in-christines-rankings
woot woot! :) come on Murray, i wanna pop to the supermarket and get some lunch.. hurry and win this please :)
You don't see the Wimbledon umpires getting out of their chairs either.
stoopid clay
wohoo!
Amy, you know if Murray wins, Lou will never let us live it down.
its OK, I think its funny when he loses, but I actually dislike Troicki :D
hehe! :)
They're both making a lot of noise. Anyone would think they'd been playing tennis for two days.
4 games in a row! :)
I am sad that if Roger wins today he has to play Novak in the semis because although I want Novak to get the consecutive wins record and I did put $5 on him to win before the clay season had even started, I'd really love Roger to get another RG and he's playing sooo well. Dilemma!
ohh that does seem like a dilemma! wont Novak take the No.1 spot from Nadal soon?
he will be if he reaches the final
yaay!
It's like neither of them wants to win this match. Lou will starve!
ohhh goodness... come on Murray.
I bet Troicki goes to kick puppies now or something.
yyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!
*looks at Christine and Amy* :D
I like to think my doubting just spurred him on. I'll take credit for that win.
:D
don't worry, he won't win the title.
this may also be my fault, Troicki was 5-2 when I turned on my TV and then proceeded to win zero more games.
:(
...
no.. probably not :)
Ping: http://sidepodcast.com/post/positive-points-galore-in-team-rankings-this-week
Schiavone always seems to play 3 sets. She doesn't want me to see Roger :(
She also sounds like she's sneezing every time she hits the ball.
in person it sounds like shes saying a 4 letter F word every single time. When I saw her in Melbourne (playing the longest womens slam match ever, so I saw her hit many many many balls) every single person sitting near us at some stage turned to whoever they were with and said "is she saying ****?"
Yessssssss....
I just got some deep heat on my back and I now feel much better than earlier on
:D
Ohh! I live for that stuff, or even better "Tiger Balm"
Evening All,
Did Anyone else see this:
http://wtf1.co.uk/post/5864479968/old-school-new-vettel-helmet-features-classic-monaco
I love it!
evening matt
thats why I don't mind his everchanging helmets, some of them are very clever :)
chop chop franny, its almost 12.30 and I needs me some Roger that'll probably be a 5 set epic just to spite me for getting up early this morning.
She's not listening!
they all do this to me, it's like they know I'm too far away for my threats to be effective.
You lot are just a train ride away, you can threaten on my behalf.
I'm not sure if Schiavone should win though. I don't approve of this weird frilly skirt/shorts combo.
shes another one who has been wearing the same thing all year. She's almost too "masculine" for frills in a way which doesn't help either. Sort it out ladies!
its never going to eeeeeend
is it cold? I just realised Pavs is wearing a lot of clothes #slow
I dunno, they had the umbrellas out for shade earlier.
I am hearing rumours of a possible rain delay coming. Bah.
Ooh broken racquet. How exciting.
*weeps*
fiiiinally
Phew! And kissing too!
theres really no one left in the womans draw that i really want to win it.
There's only a couple I've heard of!
"We hope you enjoyed your visit to the McLaren Technology Centre.
We would appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback to guide us for future events."
Hmm. Did I go to Woking without realising or did McLaren send me an email I wasn't meant to get? :)
That's some epic sleepwalking.
I could fill in the form just to mess with their stats.
How do you rate the following elements of your tour (from 1 to 5 where 5 is excellent and 1 is poor)
It was all poor! All of it! So very poor!
The email linking to this page does start off
Dear Member
Thank you for joining us on a Paddock Tour - We hope you enjoyed your tour and your chance to get closer to the team in action!
but they sent me a feedback form on my Malaysia tour about 3 days after I got home so I think their database has gone wonky.
I like the red and I like the purple. Happy for either of these to win :)
I wouldn't be toooo sad if Rog lost because I like seeing Frenchies do well at home and Monfils is awesome
I appear to have purchased another issue of Runners World. Damn you Zinio.
Ping: http://www.f1minute.com/news/lewis-hamilton-rants-about-the-stewards-after-the-monaco-grand-prix
Is there interesting stuff in there? Runners World, not Zinio. I know all about the dangers of Zinio :)
this month has a guide to running your fastest (or first) 10K and that reminded me of you :)
it has a lot of stuff for marathoners and crazy people like that but also lots of stuff for beginners and people who are somewhere in the middle. There is also "six simple tests to assess your strength, balance, coordination and flexibility - all the ingredients required to become a faster, stronger runner"
I look forward to failing all six.
Hehehe.
I am going to say goodnight so I can snuggle into my duvet for the rest of this match.
Have a lovely afternoon those who are still in May. I'll let you know how June is in a few hours time :)
Hi everyone. Just sent my Montreal post I promised a long, long, long time ago when Christine had that idea of posting positive feelings about various Grand Prix. In expectation of a season like last year's.
I know it was scrapped, but I thought I could reworkit into something more interesting.....
Afternoon guys :)
Heh, Apple certainly ain't stupid. They're holding their WWDC keynote at the same time Microsoft are hosting their biggest conference of the year at E3. Hmm :)
when is this?
Enjoy a little something from the sidepodcast.com back catalogue.

those poor umpires must get so fed up having to run up and down checking where the ball landed.
I felt really bad for them just a moment ago when the clay court had like a sand storm type of thing going on inside, not nice on the eyes!
Why thank you ;)
yay am very excited about Lion :) my geeky flatmate and i had a biiiig convo about it today :)
Hehe. Back when I was looking forward to 2010. I soon changed my tune :)
Well, here we go, then:
Bahrain organisers ready to host Formula 1 Grand Prix
What will the FIA do? Two days to go.
To be honest the conference I'm most looking forward to is Nintendo's E3 conference just because they're unveiling the successor to the Wii :)
Do love this part of the year though, all these big gaming and electronic companies all unveiling new things. Woohoo!
There's a Wii 2?
Yep, or there will be soon. Codenamed Project Cafe, which is a bit wierd, but Nintendo have said it'll be debuted next week in their E3 conference.
i just want a new ipod.. that's all i want. something that will play music through both headphones. Am guessing they'll be a new ipod touch in september/october.. and then i shall treat myself. just one more summer with a broken music player.. just one more...
Oooh I'm hoping they unveil a new iPod too even though I'm a few generations behind :D might be something to save up for though I think.
Considering how long you've had the whole one headphone problem I would pretty much say you're due for a spangly new one :)
but you're the same gen as me.. and it works.. i don't get the fasination with wanting to buy new things if your old version isn't broken.. I use my ipods until they can no longer be used.. however if i had the money i'd totally have a new one by now. :)
Because things keep getting better.
but.. but... money! :)
Obviously if you don't have the funds, you don't buy the new thing. But the fascination will still be there.
Mine's not that great, I can;t use the wifi on it because it saps the battery life within 20 minutes now (although thank god for having my htc now :))and obviously with iOS updates they won't support older models now anyways, especially as iOS4 was pretty much the tipping point for 3rd gen. signs like that tell me it's time to perhaps catch up but that's just me.
Although a new iPod isn't at the top of my saving up for list. I'd say.. 4th or 5th...
that's true i suppose. I've lived happily without the iOS updates that didn't work on my ipod touch though. the only issue i have with it is the silly headphone problem..
You do have a genuine reason to update with that problem. I'm just fickle with wanting to not feel behind the times :D
I'm feeling wierdly conflicted about this Dr Who news. No daleks = no same old thing... but it's the daleks!
This tennis match is getting interesting :) goo Roger!
Although he did tweet: Daleks: I was talking about THIS series. Stand down.
So not forever.
If Federer wins will he play Novak in the next round?
*goes to find tournament table thingy*
am kinda pleased, they've become a set thing in Dr Who, when they come back everyone will appreciate them again. Plus it makes way for more cool things like the flesh! :)
Oh, nowhere near. They're on different sides of the draw, no idea where I pulled that from :s
Actually yes he will. I am going to be quiet now as my brain has officially frazzled.
Five match points! You can't lose with five, can you?
Yay! Now he's gone further than last year I can call this slam a success whatever happens from here :)
yaaaaayy!! :)
And he gets it :)
Really looking forward to Roger vs Novak now.
:D
i really want Novak to win #sorryamy I just wanna see how many consecutive wins he can get.

do they speak french in Switzerland?
I think Fed speaks about twenty languages.
In the west I think they do.
I do on one hand, on the other Roger is old and this is the French and if anyone has to break the streak...
:) I was wondering if he was speaking French or Swiss, and people being French in Belgium made me wonder if it's a Swiss thing too
It would be epic if Roger broke the streak. But I reckon Novak will edge him out just because he's is actually The Terminator. I'm sure of it.
oh Lukeh!
ohhhh good point! :)
Amy, question for you, i've missed the other murray match today haven't i? :( i can't find it anywhere. was it a continuation of a match yesterday? I found the results of their match yesterday.. am assuming they didn't play two days in a row?
ahh i can't keep up with doubles and singles! too much tennis! :)
I think this side of the draw will win the final because they're both playing amazing tennis. Rafa and Muzz not so much.
There are too many nationalities in the world. At least 13 if them to keep up with.
yeah it was the last set of yesterdays
it's the QFs, there's no one left!
ahh that makes sense then :)
hehehe it's still too much! specially as i usually have the lovely red button and sky sports to help me watch loads, but here i just have the internet :)
oh you mean Jamie? I don't know. Dubs sometimes play 2 days in a row.
oh yes, sorry. I watched the Andy match earlier... remember?
:)
no, my days have become one. Sun is up soon!
They won today's match 10-7 in the super tiebreak
Also if Novak beats Roger he becomes World No. 1 I take it?
si
:D hehe go to bed! :)
ohh yaaayy! right, need to find out when they next play, love watching doubles matches but the bbc hardly show them (unless it's wimbledon and you can choose pretty much any court)
yep, woot woot! :)
ooooooh.
we should get some confetti and party horns just in case
no one gives mixed doubles love, even the no ad scoring and super tiebreaks mean they don't bother courts too long. Sad but on the other hand sometimes quick matches are good as deuces can be so infuriating
I don't really like doubles, it can all get too quick for me.
There's a lot of people to keep up with! Even on tennis games I find myself running off the court or across the net in confusing
Now I zzzz
Sleeeeeeeep :)
night amy!
ah they're sooooo good! I know i've mentioned him before and i know he doesn't play anymore but Bahrami is epic.. need to try see him if he plays a game at one point.

It is going to be a busy night/morning for the space shuttles. First Atlantis will start its roll out to the launch pad at 8pm eastern/1am UK. This really is the final shuttle mission.
http://www.nasa.gov/rss/atlantis_update.xml
After the Atlantis roll out we have the landing of Endeavour after its 16 day mission to the International Space Station. As ever landings are not guaranteed to happen as the weather and technical issues can leadt to postponement.
The first landing opportunity is at 2:35am eastern/7:35am UK. We will know about an hour and a half before the event if a landing is going to happen. There is normally a second landing window one orbit (an hour and a half) later.
Evening all
