At last we have reached Friday. Yesterday was another rubbish Thursday for me, so I am glad we have finally made it to the end of the week. It's also Free Practice Friday, and we get to see the brand new track in action. Meanwhile, here are some of the things we're talking about:

  • The new homepage was launched in the early hours of yesterday, and whilst there are still a few pages that are still sporting the old green style, quite a lot of the site is looking fresh, new and blue. It should be a lot faster as well. Mr C is planning to write a post about the changes and the ideas behind the new look, but until then, keep sending us your feedback as we're building this site for you.
  • I've not been hanging around doing nothing, of course, and yesterday we saw two breakout threads. The first confirmed Rosberg's aim to leave Williams after this race, and the second saw Ecclestone dash everyone's Donington hopes for the last time. Presumably. Neither of these were much of a surprise, but still fun to discuss.
  • Also, F1 Minute featured the Rosberg news, plus some snippets from other stories of the day. Big Picture also featured the other fun gossip from the paddock, with Trulli having a bit of a tantrum in the FIA press conference. The guy holds a grudge! I like it.

That'll do it for now. Keep your eyes peeled for two threads throughout the day for the practice sessions, plus the usual podcasting goodness. I'll see you in the comments.

There is a practice session under way at Okayama for the Asian Le Mans series one-off event:

    Timing: http://www.asian-lemans-series.com/chronos_gb.html

Only 22 cars though. Okayama is what they call TI Aida now.

I think this is a trial run for a new Asian Series to accompany the LMS and ALMS.

There were supposed to be two races in this Asian LM series.

But the second race was scrapped.

    Shanghai next week wasn't it?

  • rowley30/10/2009 at 00:47

    Shanghai next week wasn't it?

    Correct.

Most important prize is an entry to the 24 Hours. Thats why a lot of teams are there.

A good way to attract an entry.. could have been embarrassingly low otherwise

I'm actually fast asleep but would just like to point out....

    Desktop Doohickey = Awesome

    It looks v.v.v.v.nice

Much as I would like to sit up and watch the rest of the baseball I need to get some sleep. Yet another iffy umpire decision against the Yankees. It's a conspiracy I tell you. Still I am sure Rivera will seal the win.

Night all. See you in a few hours for practise.

  • Paul30/10/2009 at 02:52

    Night Steven

    It's always the umpire's fault

I'm away from my computer for almost 8 hours and when I get back there is a new Doohickey, with all the changes being made it's like Christmas here except without the fat guy in the red suit:D. It's looking great guys I can't wait to see the finished product

So Brazil wasn't too great for Mr or Mrs C in the pole poll over at Sofaf1: http://www.sofaf1.com/2009/10/sofaf1-championship-2009-round-16.html

And I only did well because I missed the cut!

Big jump needed by Mr C...

    Hey Amy. :D

So... Just as I was about to go to work, we were suddenly advised to work from home. Worries about the storm coming in this weekend.

There is an upside to this - I get to watch Free Practice today! :D

    its just for today...

even so, one day paddock club tickets still cost more than a 4 day grandstand pass in Melbourne.

  • Journeyer30/10/2009 at 06:16

;) Yeah, because you'll get tomorrow's tickets later. You know people! :D

    yup. Qualifying.

I wish Australia got a round of that. I know we are lucky to have so many support categories that they have to have a 4-day weekend, but someall but one of them are so boring

What's the one un-boring support race?

  • Amy30/10/2009 at 07:07

Formula 5000 Tasman Revival. I liked it because it had an old McLaren :D

    V8 Supercars?

  • Amy30/10/2009 at 07:12

    V8 Supercars?

yep, over the F1 weekend they run a "manufacturers challenge" so rather than team v team, driver v driver, it simply becomes Ford v Holden. Yawn.

  • F1Wolf30/10/2009 at 07:13

    new doohickey I see

    Yeah I know - but I wasn't really here...

  • Amy30/10/2009 at 07:17

    What did they have?

the full line up was V8s, Australian GT, Aussie Racing Cars, Mini Challenge, Formula Ford and Formula 5000, then they also had the historic demonstration (I like that too, but it ain't a race) and the speed comparison of F1 vs V8 vs road car.

  • Journeyer30/10/2009 at 07:18

    Yeah I know - but I wasn't really here...

    Diet V8? V8 Lite? :D

I think they try to make it more appealing to the punters who don't follow V8s. Didn't work for me :D

Because my seat was on the grid I watched the grid take off each time because it was loud and I like loud, but after one lap I'd go do something else :D

  • Amy30/10/2009 at 07:20

this photo series looks like it's supposed to be paparazzi shots, but I bet Jenson doesn't just happen to be wearing the cap of his sponsor and drinking their product when he is out and about on a boat.

I'm also surprised to see Felipe in the paddock. It made sense for him to be in Brazil but I didn't expect him to be at any other races, especially with a little Felipe not far away.

ahh. I'd assume everyone looks a little wonky when they are photographed mid-walk, but it's not something I've ever considered before :D

    #blamenico

    And the pitlane exit tunnel?

NR: I hit the wall three times! And I heard the McLaren drivers did a couple more than that. It was the outside wall.

If there's one thing that turns me off Jenson Button a bit, it's contract negotiations.

It's the Telegraph, so they're probably just stirring trouble. But what's taking Button and Brawn so long?

  • Alex Andronov30/10/2009 at 07:58

It's the Telegraph, so they're probably just stirring trouble. But what's taking Button and Brawn so long?

Wasn't it said that they would wait until the end of the season. I think this is the flipside of problem of the internet news thing. Getting some people to sign multimillion pound contracts quickly is surely impossible. These things take time. Especially with those pesky lawyers #sorryamy #sorryjourneyer

The Alonso contract was done years ago. Kubica was out of contract so his is different too.

  • Journeyer30/10/2009 at 08:01

It's the Telegraph, so they're probably just stirring trouble. But what's taking Button and Brawn so long?

The longer it takes, the better it gets for Brawn, I suppose. Jenson's running out of seats to go to.

  • Alex Andronov30/10/2009 at 08:01

The Alonso contract was done years ago. Kubica was out of contract so his is different too.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Robert saw the way things were going with BMW at the beginning of the season and jumped then.

Wasn't it said that they would wait until the end of the season. I think this is the flipside of problem of the internet news thing. Getting some people to sign multimillion pound contracts quickly is surely impossible. These things take time. Especially with those pesky lawyers #sorryamy #sorryjourneyer

But let's remember - most contracts are sewn up by the summer. Even taking FOTA into consideration, it's almost November already...

#MFC Google's music player OneBox is going to be a huge thing for Apple

And shows the strategy of not surfacing the iTunes store as a website was madness. If they had done this years ago the top result on Google would have been iTunes for any song. I've never understood why they haven't done it. And of course Google can now just put the box at the top...

Giggles, can you fix it so my flatmate learns to put her rent in the account before the banks close on a Friday afternoon? By the time they reopen it will be overdue. Again.

Can she not make it a regular payment at the bank?

    True.

  • Amy30/10/2009 at 08:44

Can she not make it a regular payment at the bank?

that would be far too easy. She also doesn't believe in internet banking. Our other flatmate works at the bank and even offers to make the deposit for her if she gives her the cash. But still month after month, she doesn't pay on time. I'm a little sick of the threatening letters from the property managers.

Okay here's the plan... Say to her that every time she is late paying to the bank she has to do all of the washing up for a week.

When she says that that isn't fair, you can say, "well neither would it be fair to getting me evicted for something you can so easily fix by setting up a regular payment. When you go to pay it in on Monday, set up the regular payment or it's washing up time."

It's time for hardball Amy #sorryamy

Your flatmate is an idiot. Internet banking is easy, and even if it were against her morals, the other flatmate gives her a way out.

Call a flat meeting and make the one who works at the bank the person responsible for the rent payment.

  • Alex Andronov30/10/2009 at 08:49

Call a flat meeting and make the one who works at the bank the person responsible for the rent payment.

I don't think it's fair to make her responsible. Especially as she doesn't even need internet banking to set up a regular payment you can do that at the bank too.

  • Amy30/10/2009 at 08:51

Call a flat meeting and make the one who works at the bank the person responsible for the rent payment.

she mostly is, she does most of the chasing up of the one who doesn't pay, but that doesn't stop me from stressing when it gets to the end of the month and I can see that it hasn't been paid :) We used to pay separately and that was fine because the landlord could chase after the right person but then they changed their policy to only accepting one payment per month from each property they own rather than one payment per tenant.

  • RubberGoat (Gavin Brown)30/10/2009 at 08:52

good point. In that case can you please tell the weather that its 10.30 at night so it doesn't need to be 26 degrees. Or if it insists on being 26 degrees can there at least be a breeze so that opening the windows at least cools my room down a bit.

Has anyone experience with price developments at ryanair. Should I book now or wait?

I know if you look short term Ryanair prices go up so if you book 6 weeks in advance it is cheaper than three weeks in advance but I have never planned so far ahead. I certainly wouldn't book now though.

What you should do is look at prices on their site in monthly steps to see the progression and that will tell you the best time to book.

All I am saying is look at the same flight in November, December, January etc and find out how far ahead it costs less. If it is cheapest three months before the flight date allowing for seasonal price variations then you book three months before you fly.

What are you doing in the daily?

  • RubberGoat (Gavin Brown)30/10/2009 at 14:27

Gamers could be joining in a real televised sporting event from their homes early in 2010. (BBC)

"We can put you in your own car, within real TV coverage of a real race, and in real time against the professionals," said Chris Leigh, the company's head.

"When Jenson Button nails his car from the front you can go and chase after him and try and beat him to the first corner," he said.

Blimey! How are they going to do that?

Instead of watching the race next year, are we going to actually be in it?

I wonder if you will enjoy transcribing something when you know all the words.

    :)

  • me30/10/2009 at 15:10

so, the question was asked in the free practice thread, what the point of google wave is an why are we excited about it?

in short, and without getting geeky, you can think of it as a mash up between MSN messenger and email. is has the ability to replace both, if it takes off.

we're excited about it, because it can integrate with live commenting. meaning you could potentially follow a discussion thread in your inbox, and reply from there. or from a mobile phone, or wherever.

it's an open(ish) standard for real-time communication and it's proper instant stuff. not the 20 second delayed doohickey we currently have. you can also do crazy stuff like only follow the commenters you're interested in (uber filter), or only follow daily threads but not live threads etc (uber lclt).

still loads of work, but the off-season starts on monday so there's plenty of time to look into it.

    any questions?

i had to watch fp2 at my nan's house, but i sadly didn't get to watch fp1, did i miss much?

  • Alex Andronov30/10/2009 at 15:48

    that would make sense.

And it would be pretty cool to try and stay within a drivers car...

So you could say choose to follow Glock. And then whenever you press a certain button you are auto caught up with them. Then you have to try and stay within their position on the track etc, speed etc. And if you get too far behind press the button again.

    has this been discussed:

“MotorLand Aragon is the ideal motorsports complex for US F1’s European operation,” said Peter Windsor, executive vice president and sporting director for US F1 Team.

all these new teams are working next to tracks. i wonder how long before red bull have to move out of a factory in an industrial estate in order to keep up?

Me too. But it would be cool to be able, during the race to replay the race from whatever camera angle position of your choice. Even impossible camera angles.

You wouldn't be able to simulate say what caused Massas crash because the debris wouldn't have been there.

But you would be able to work out what happened between Trulli and Sutil.

The version I have is 'read only' - so when I shut down the netbook, it resets all changes. A persistent version (like this example) will allow you to operate fully and save all changes - so you can operate like normal ;)

The instructions to make a persistent USB are a wee bit complicated. Here is a tutorial that should work for any Ubuntu or Debian based Linux.

    No I never did :(

  • Kathi30/10/2009 at 17:00

    Yes I do :)

First of all mount the partition the iso file is on. You can see all you partitions in the right hand panel. Click the one you want. It will ask for authorisation and you should be able to just click ok.

Then check under system -> administration if you have something called usb startup disk creator.

if not open a terminal (under assessories) and type sudo apt-get install usb-creator. You should have it now.

If your usb drive is empty just open that app and choose your iso from the drop down and your other usb drive from the other dropdown and click make startup disk.

If it isn't use gparted (system -> administration -> gparted to format the usb drive to fat32. You can choose the drive in a little dropdown menu in the top right corner)

You should unplug the usb and plug it back in before creating the startup disk as explained above.

Just remember Mint is repackaged Ubuntu. As I do not use Ubuntu I am not that familiar but I think Gavin was wanting a persistent Ubuntu Remix (the netbook flavour which looks very different to normal Ubuntu). If memory serves me correctly there is an ICON for creating a USB in the remix and I think you might be able to create a persistent USB with it but do not hold me to this.

The apt get is actually a Debian innovation from which Ubuntu inherited it and passed it on to Mint and CrunchBang (which incidentally is very good for netbooks).

I am constrained by a policy to use the KDE desktop. This is because of a product/project called Marble see http://edu.kde.org/marble/ basically an open source Google Earth but has miles to get there.

To complete a normalised distance of 5km around the Yas Marina circuit requires 2.43kg of fuel against an average of 2.42kg per 5km across all circuits this season, ranking the circuit as being averagely demanding in terms of fuel consumption.

  • me30/10/2009 at 18:33

sorry, all it says in seconds is:

The pitlane length and profile contribute to the determination of the optimum fuel strategy. The pitlane loss at Abu Dhabi is approximately 18.5 seconds, which is the 10th most penalising pitlane in the Championship.

Brawn want Jenson it is just that they cannot afford to pay him unless Mercedes comes in with a big pot of money. Rubens is fed up with waiting knowing Nico is coming so he is off to Williams.

  • Rich30/10/2009 at 18:41

One think that is surprising for next year is how many teams could have both drivers new or virtually new. e.g. Williams, Toyota and Renault.

yeah... but Williams were never honda.. remember i loved them as honda too :P Ross Brawn and whoever else helped out with the buyout are my saviours when it comes to f1.. it would have been very tough times for me (and loads and loads of honda/jenson/rubens fans) this year if the team hadn't got through.. i know patrick head is awesome too.. but he didn't save the team :P plus i can accept Jenson may move one day, but going back to Williams?.. i'm not sure he would..

yeah... but Williams were never honda.. remember i loved them as honda too :P Ross Brawn and whoever else helped out with the buyout are my saviours when it comes to f1.. it would have been very tough times for me (and loads and loads of honda/jenson/rubens fans) this year if the team hadn't got through.. i know patrick head is awesome too.. but he didn't save the team :P plus i can accept Jenson may move one day, but going back to Williams?.. i'm not sure he would..

would you have been happy though if Jenson had got a seat somewhere else?

  • lou30/10/2009 at 18:45

would you have been happy though if Jenson had got a seat somewhere else?

yes.. and no. i'd be sad about honda, but really pleased he was still in f1, otherwise it would be very odd for me to watch f1 with no one to support! :P

  • Rich30/10/2009 at 18:45

see... even if Jenson moves from Brawn, i wouldn't be happy with Lewis going to Brawn... and i can't put my finger on why..

I feel the same and I really am unhappy about Nico joining Brawn.

  • lou30/10/2009 at 18:45

I do not think Jenson is off to Williams but I think he is wishing Macca will come up with a good package and I am absolutely sure he is in discussion with Toyota.

Jenson in discussion with toyota? really??

  • James30/10/2009 at 18:46

i refuse to think about it :)

Jenson in discussion with toyota? really??

No one except me has said it, but knowing how corporates work it is a fairly obvious conclusion.

  • lou30/10/2009 at 18:49

No one except me has said it, but knowing how corporates work it is a fairly obvious conclusion.

but why would he... i mean... of all the teams? toyota aren't exactly known for their success... and he has a title to defend... you could be right, but it doesn't make any sense to me :)

  • Rich30/10/2009 at 18:58

but why would he... i mean... of all the teams? toyota aren't exactly known for their success... and he has a title to defend... you could be right, but it doesn't make any sense to me :)

The Toyota is probably not a bad car it could actually be better than say Williams or Renault. Toyota want a win and also having the number1 on their car would put a smile on the face of the big cheese. Jenson does like money and Brawn cannot repeat this year's success unless Mercedes really starts investing through its partners - its under resourced. When (rather than if) Brawn becomes Mercedes they will almost for sure draft in Vettel.

Jenson seems to actually want a 10 million pound deal which Brawn cannot afford. If they lost Jenson and Rubens goes to Williams there are still other drivers they could get that would be much cheaper and dare say near as fast (e.g. Nick or Kovy as I believe Timo is going to Renault).

  • lou30/10/2009 at 19:01

okay... i'm going to agree to disagree, because ultimately i don't think Jenson wants to leave Brawn, from interviews and from how he talks about the team back in the winter i think he's really attached to the team.. i'm probably wrong but i can't see him wanting to go to Toyota rather than staying put at Brawn. I also think Vettel is destined for Ferrari not a Mercedes team, but i suppose time will tell :)

What has been reported is Brawn will go to 8 Million pounds for Jenson's services. If Jenson was that keen to stay he would have signed by now. It is Jenson's decision more than Brawn's decision.

"What do you think? Should they leave it as it is with teams launching cars alone or should they do a single launch event? Let me have your comments and I will forward them to FOTA."

#MFC Google's music player OneBox is going to be a huge thing for Apple

why? amazon has a similar, maybe better service and i haven't used that since itunes dropped DRM.

And shows the strategy of not surfacing the iTunes store as a website was madness. If they had done this years ago the top result on Google would have been iTunes for any song. I've never understood why they haven't done it. And of course Google can now just put the box at the top...

    two points here:

    1) when itunes was released, it killed all other online music retailers very, very quickly. there are a couple of reasons for this but mainly because back then browser experience was flaky, inconsistent and generally sucky while itunes wasn't. there were many competitors and they all failed despite them having millions poured into the concepts.

    2) amazon already does what you're suggesting apple should be doing, and what good does it do them?

  • Jeremy30/10/2009 at 19:37

do you know, and I genuinely mean this, my favourite thing is smart people telling me that I am wrong.

SPC tagline? Where smart people tell you that you're wrong?

It makes this place rather unique in that we can call what happens a discussion rather than having to find another name for it.

sort of, and they're working towards it. but it just wouldn't have worked when it was released back in 2001. the web wasn't ready and i'm not convinced it is now.

I have tried BigPond Music in Australia when they offered mp3 and sold me $100 credit at half price. The songs had to be downloaded one at a time and they had to be manually dragged to iTunes. To be fair, I think it worked better on Windows. It just wasn't worth the hassle.

For the past couple of weeks, some searches that I do with "popular" search engines get re-directed with Firefox or Internet Explorer, and seemingly no matter what anti-virus or spyware software I run, it seems never to stop. It's getting to the point where I'm close to a re-format, re-install, but I have no HDD space to perform the obligatory backup.

    2) amazon already does what you're suggesting apple should be doing, and what good does it do them?

I think that as market leader it would have been different. Also I think that Amazon hasn't really made it as easy as I'd hoped to share links. I want my site to have my iTunes playlist on it. Not on last.fm. On my site every one of those links would have fed back to iTunes if they had done it right.

    1) when itunes was released, it killed all other online music retailers very, very quickly. there are a couple of reasons for this but mainly because back then browser experience was flaky, inconsistent and generally sucky while itunes wasn't. there were many competitors and they all failed despite them having millions poured into the concepts.

I think google has an uphill battle. But the top link for most songs on google is currently YouTube. That is actually iTunes big competitor. And I think google are worried they are going to get that taken away from them.

  • Rich30/10/2009 at 20:51

I'm lucky that my boss, Steve Jobs! doesn't comment here!

Nothing illegal to say it is possible. Even if you purchase the OSX it is illegal to put onto a non-apple product. I am sure it could be contested though.

Which driver from 2009 is least likely to get a seat in 2010?

    nakajima

    well Fisichella, but he doesn’t count {Comment #398}

He does in my book... ...and I wouldn't rule him out of a 2010 seat completely because his contract does allow for racing at other teams if Ferrari doesn't require him to do substitution duty at a given event.

And to answer the original question, I think Grosjean is the least likely driver to retain his seat. He's the only F1 driver who I can remember off the top of my head who has become worse with each passing race since his debut.

On my site every one of those links would have fed back to iTunes if they had done it right.

    i would agree with that.

I think google has an uphill battle. But the top link for most songs on google is currently YouTube. That is actually iTunes big competitor. And I think google are worried they are going to get that taken away from them.

i think the danger man is spotify. you?

  • lou30/10/2009 at 21:12

aww lukeh. don't tell lou, but i prefer williams. for the following reasons:

I of course have lots and lots of respect for Williams and Frank Williams and everything, but as a modern F1 team... well, judging on how they've been over the past few years and the fact they will have flippin' Cosworths, it all adds to the pessimism of Rubens in 2010 :(

Least he'll have a drive though which pleases me lots. Just feels like a nothing move though. Sure he's coming the end of his career life but Rubens still has plenty to offer...

...plus I dislike their livery #sorrymrc

I noticed that particularly on wet tracks the Brawn really stands out - it makes beautiful photos and video images. No question it is the most distinctive colour choice for many years. Not my favourite livery but very striking.

I am a bit sad that after 12 years of following Button the only way I could cope with watching him win the WDC was by getting trollied and causing havoc in the kitchen as my Mum (who I'd invited over for dinner) had to finish cooking tea off as I was a bumbling mess!

I think Kimi's being a bit unrealistic in his pay demands, there is still a credit crunch going on after all.

Plus, he's still going into 2010 with a fat wedge of Ferrari cash in his back pocket. He needs to be realistic in his demands methinks.

I've also had a very bad fight with my bf. And spent most of the day at work. Bad times.

awww no :( sidepodhugs and wine all round

The tax man has run off with the majority of my pay for no reason that I can think of....

    ooh not good..

  • Adie30/10/2009 at 22:40

Ironically work themselves has run off with the majority of my pay. What is going on today?

    We're in the same club.

You must use a fuel card for your business and personal mileage they said.

You'll just c*** it up at the end of the month I said.

1 month later, and £200 down it turns out I was right. Not amused.

  • Pat W30/10/2009 at 22:40

awww no :( sidepodhugs and wine all round

wishing I'd bought the bottle of red now..

  • Christine30/10/2009 at 22:41

In good news, there are literally a million pictures worthy of Big Pic today. We are struggling to pick one!

  • lou30/10/2009 at 22:42

this photo of Ant may make some people smile... i wonder what he was saying...

  • Pat W30/10/2009 at 22:42

with a fuel card they get a statement every month.. there's not much to mess up with that..

    Opera singing!

    of course i'm slightly biased...

  • Alison30/10/2009 at 22:45

wishing I'd bought the bottle of red now..

Hehehe I do have wine. I'm not allowed to have too much though. Early morning. Plus I can't afford it :P

  • Adie30/10/2009 at 22:48

with a fuel card they get a statement every month.. there's not much to mess up with that..

    Yup, I know.

I dilligently log personal and business miles, often daily but my company (who will remain nameless) are brilliant at ballsing things like this up.

I'll sort it, I could just do without the aggro of getting it done. Plus it'll be a month before any correction is reflected in my pay. Just a pain really!

  • Pat W30/10/2009 at 22:48

Hehehe I do have wine. I'm not allowed to have too much though. Early morning. Plus I can't afford it :P

I bought beer because I was in a beer mood. Now I want wine.

I've only had one of them.

  • Paul30/10/2009 at 22:49

Morning people, I missed FP how was the new track?

  • Pat W30/10/2009 at 22:50

I'll sort it, I could just do without the aggro of getting it done. Plus it'll be a month before any correction is reflected in my pay. Just a pain really!

Always annoying... luckily my company is pretty good at the few miles I do..

  • Adie30/10/2009 at 22:50

I bought beer because I was in a beer mood. Now I want wine.

Amy, AKA "Pineapple" came home with 15 bottles of beer she picked up in Tescos for a fiver. Result!

  • Pat W30/10/2009 at 22:50

Morning people, I missed FP how was the new track?

I am watching FP1 now. The track is very impressive, but the session is really boring.

  • Paul30/10/2009 at 22:51

I am watching FP1 now. The track is very impressive, but the session is really boring.

I guess you are watching on iplayer?

  • Pat W30/10/2009 at 22:53

I like the attention to detail. The design of the bridges and overhead ads with the bigger surrounds, the runoff not just being acres of tarmac but a defined area, the fact it seems to be somewhere as opposed to Bahrain which is nowhere.

I don't like that the second half (or more) is so Mickey Mouse, or that the run to the first hairpin has that silly little bit in front of it to prevent cars going in too deep..

    Could be another Valencia.

  • Pat W30/10/2009 at 22:53

I guess you are watching on iplayer?

    No I recorded it.

  • Pat W30/10/2009 at 22:54

the dust says yes. but there's only so much that can be done.

  • Pat W30/10/2009 at 22:55

I can't believe this is the first round of GP2 Asia. I haven't finished the previous season from March yet.

  • Paul30/10/2009 at 22:55

    Phew. JTV has some replays.yay

  • Paul30/10/2009 at 22:57

I can't find the link, but I referred to a DC column earlier in the week where he said there was only one passing place and the dust would mean that it would be difficult.

But hey, they wanted Monaco, so...

  • me30/10/2009 at 23:02

To be fair they have done a good job of clearing the dust

the trouble is lack of rubber and you can't force drivers to pick new lines in the braking zone.

  • me30/10/2009 at 23:02

    *ahem*

    good karting?

  • Alison30/10/2009 at 23:03

  • startledbunny30/10/2009 at 23:08

No idea. I usually go with the helmet, if it's not yellow, it's not lewis.

I really should learn which ones though. next year, maybe.

That was honestly the most fun I've had in a long time. I had a tear in my eye as we crossed the line. We only started the society a month ago and so to go from that to rushing around trying to organise teams into this event, and then to win...

I feel like Ross Brawn! So proud of everyone that made it happen. I want to thank my mum and da...oh wait ;)

But, but it's the last one till March. You'll miss it in 4 weeks time...

I've only seen one FP3 all year. I've only been watching Friday sessions since Spa or so. I'll miss quali and race a lot..

Really? I thought it was only 5 or so.. I like him but he does have a habit of recycling material..

I think all comedians do to some extent. He doesn't do any of his early stuff though. His act and audience has change so much that many of his current audience wouldn't like it and if they heard his early recordings (vinyl albums) they wouldn't understand a word of them

Peter Kay has survived the last 5 or 6 years by recycling old material.

    Jooooooy.

    Bed for me!

  • startledbunny31/10/2009 at 01:33

I also see this very rarely, and I fear I am part of the trouble!

ah, but you didn't suggest doing sidepodradio every week did you?

  • The Boston Red Scott31/10/2009 at 01:33

welcome to the night shift... ;-)

I always suspected there was hijinx because I think these were the hours that I would miss and when i turned up the next day there would be some new game/joke/farce/sidepodradio planned.

Am just pondering Trulli. He has a vineyard which means wine but... also holds quite the grudge. On the Kubica-ometer scale... I can't decide.

I was in that country and never once tried his wine. Bad Scott.

  • Jon Waldock31/10/2009 at 01:34

i think i'd agree. i've never seen a lump like this before, usually i just have back pain. i got hit in the rear many a time

all these new teams are working next to tracks. i wonder how long before red bull have to move out of a factory in an industrial estate in order to keep up?

    Ferrari were right all along..

“MotorLand Aragon is the ideal motorsports complex for US F1’s European operation,” said Peter Windsor, executive vice president and sporting director for US F1 Team.

This was noted by Rencken in July, I'm amazed it has taken until now for the official confirmation.

take some paracetamol and plenty of water (although that advice was given to me by the doctor for my knee (which had a lump too from a rollercoaster))

a bag of frozen peas was required too, but that's not exactly easy to put on a back wound

2 years ago you were going to pay for italian lessons so i could translate RAI tv, but then james allen came along and i realised you'd never want that :)

Your last sentence has me struggling to resist a joke, but I can't..

    You have to refresh Doohickey

i used lclt, and it's working ok now.

i prefer it to doohickey, although this aft i was using mobile doohickey.

given that no-one else has mentioned it, i'm sticking with STR. if i'm right i'll look like a genius.

  • Pat W31/10/2009 at 01:49

Hello everyone. I love being paid every 4 weeks because you get used to living on 1/13th of your salary each month and then, once a year, you get paid twice in one month. It's like they've been saving up for you & you get a bonus

I always found it a stretch to last a whole month... that's why I love being paid fortnightly (usually most of one is taken out by rent, then the other is for other expenses), and Oct was a 3x month! :-)

  • startledbunny31/10/2009 at 01:50

aren't tato & tim signed for next year? or are they?
