Brrrrrrrrrrrrr!! Are you enjoying the snow? Did you manage to obtain some comfy, fluffy and warm winter clothing? Lucky you. I didn’t. I have to admit that I genuinely hate snow and this freezing temperatures, but I presume I am not the only one. The only thing I like about winter is winter sports. And Christmas with footie filled Boxing Day. Yeaaaaaaah, that’s what we sports freaks enjoy, right? Not this ... all right, let’s concentrate on something we love then.
But before that ... I’d like to congratulate Paul di Resta for becoming DTM World Champion for the very first time in his oh so young life/career!!!! Well done, lad. Well done. I am wondering if he had a huge party with Daveheart afterwards? And how!? Or perhaps Paul-san had enough of alcoholic drinks and didn’t party at all?
Despite some fears it’s been a quite busy sports weekend, so let’s start with ...
Motorsport:
- My goodness!! Utterly shocking this! I was doing some harmless research and suddenly ... there he was. Adrian Sutil. Just look at this photo. *shudders* He’s obviously stalking me. According to this report he took part in a motor show in Essen, a city near Cologne. You see? He IS stalking me! If there’s something I really enjoy during the off season, it’s the fact that it's a Sutil news free period of time. Yeah ... naive me ...
- On Sunday there was Race of The Champions in Düsseldorf. I would have gone there too say “Hi!” to Heikki, but Schumacher and equally annoying Vettel were there. You understand, don’t you?
- However Heikki had a bad crash but he’s doing well again. But Heikki wouldn’t be Heikki if he would not see the silver lining ...
- Daniel Ricardio was named Toro Rosso’s reserve driver. I wonder if Jaime noticed this news during his nostalgic Saturday and picnicking with family.
- Meanwhile in Red Bull World ... Mark Webber returner to Australia and can enjoy the off season slurping tea/coffee/beer ... or whatever Aussies do slurp in their kitchens.
- Fernando Alonso is proud of Ferrari. And Massa denies taking a year off. Once you’re gone ...
- Uuuuu!! What do we have in here? Christian Horner is backing Marky Mark for 2011 title bid. Watch out, Chris! Seb may get jealous!
- Jens seemed to have a Doppelgänger for about ... three days. First he posted a freaky photo and denied the lad in it isn’t him, and yesterday he discovered it was him. He’s behaving quite odd in this video, don’t you think?
- Do not miss the newest F1 Debrief and An Aside with Joe. Although I am quite sure you listened to it yet. Listen one more time then. As for myself, I formed a habit of listening to the sidepodcasts while cleaning my flat. It makes this dull duty so much nicer. Thank you Christine! Cheers Mr. C! Merci, Joe! :-)
Other sports:
- Oh! What a tennis weekend that was! We literally got spoiled by the Gods Of Tennis. Are there any? There must be one or two, because the tennis we got served on Saturday and Sunday was just too good to be real. First Rafael Nadal defeated Andy Murray in a smashing match of tennis and on Sunday he got beaten by his greatest rival Roger-mister-oh-so-perfect-Federer. *sigh* Next year, Rafi, next year ...
- RG informed you about this yesterday, and I know he enjoyed it: yes, we lost 2:1 against his Spurs, although we should have won. We even scored twice, however for both teams. Confusing? So must have been Martin Skrtl who fulfilled this daring feat.
- Stupid Chelsea drew 1:1 against Newcastle (!!) and dropped points on United yet again. Keep playing like this you Blues, don’t be shy. Because Fergie and his boys are waiting, you know? The won defeated Blackburn 7:1 last Saturday, you know? Capice? Berbaflop even managed to score 5! In words: five! What has this world come to? I suppose it was the snow, so let’s move on to some friendlier, weather-wise, countries.
- Like Spain for instance. But ups! No good news, too. Atletico Madrid lost against Espanyol Barcelona 3:2.
- No news from Diegito Forlan except this one. I hope it wasn’t too boring ...
- While I am writing this words, 80% of the world is watching el clasico. Barcelona vs Real Madrid. The greatest football rivalry ever. Their encounters are even bigger than our matches versus United. Objektiv, not subjectiv.
To finish up: Diary of a Pro Footballer: The truth about money and footballers. There you go. Black on white.
I wish you a lovely day. Stay calm and keep it warm! I am off to cheer for Ream Madrid! Oh heck ... they are losing ...
