Good morning, afternoon and evening wherever you may be in the world, whether it be the UK, Australia, America and of course, Rotherham. It’s the 2nd of September, how did that happen? We’re already approaching the autumn (or spring if you’re in the southern hemisphere) but I do love all the golden and reddy colours of the autumn. Also, today is Olivier Panis’ birthday! Happy birthday him!
Paddock News
A new future for Toro Rosso? - Here’s something out of nowhere for you to have athink about as it seems Toro Rosso may be about to get a new owner through IPIC and the many, many millions it brings for it’s owners. RG pointed out that they may very much become the Man City of F1, with Arabic owners coming in with a boatload of money for a pretty average team really. Will we see New Toro Rosso signing Fernando Alonso for £50million? The magic 8 ball says... yes.
Deja Vuno Senna - I’m getting some major déjà vu, as it seems Rubens’ seat is being threatened again by youngsters such as Bruno Senna for next season. Gosh, I don’t think I would be able to handle a change like that, especially now I actually like Bruno! Rubens must say, and I reckon he will. But my far out logic has come to the conclusion that this means next season Williams will be Brawn-esque and...errr...Pastor will be champion. Maybe not then.
Elsewhere
Take a Walk on the wild Aside - I know a lot of people always look forward to these and quite right too because they're always a fascinating listen, so make sure you spend some time today giving the brand spanking new Aside with Joe a listen. Seeing as F1 is back from it's Summer Break it's only fair that the Aside returns too with plenty of informative goodiness and stories aloof.
Monopolised by the Future - Goodness me, could that possibly be the best Monopoly board ever? I mean, honestly - Futurama, and Monopoly, all mushed together into a combination that may have slightly broken my brain in utter amazement. Yet, it gets even better! If you’re a fan of the Fallout series of games (I quite like them, just a bit..) then you have to see this unofficial Monopoly board someone has made. Absolutely awesome, on both counts. I’ll let the dream team represent my own personal reaction to these Monopoly boards
A Manic Christmas Night - As if the news of the Manics bringing out a greatest singles collection in November wasn’t awesome enough, it seems the band are going to be doing a one off gig at the O2 performing all the singles for one special night just before Christmas. It sounds like they’re making a proper night out of it with special guests, and all kinds of Nicky Wire related paraphernalia. Exciting stuff!
Pandamonium with Paper and Pencils - For her weekly instalment of Panda Thursday, Christine this week gave it a jolly good go of drawing some Panda’s, and I really really like them! Plus I do love seeing other people draw with how much sketching and whatnot interests me so you can’t fault Mrs C for having a go too. Why got join in and do some drawings of your own if you have a blog and share the sketching?
And Finally...
One or two final little things:
- My latest edition of F1 Babelfish is up over at Gridwalk Talk for Belgium with plenty of nonsense and bad puns and all sorts. Why not take a read?
- All of a sudden the Nintendo 3DS suddenly appeals to me. Why? ROLLERCOASTER TYCOON!! Ohh they better not ruin it or I will shake my fist so much.
- Check out the world’s most honest logos. I’m sure I’ve seen some before but they always make me laugh because they’re so true!
- And this is what happens when you get two AI chatbots talking to each other... it’s like watching the Terminator films watching each other! Run!!
That’s all for this week me thinks. Last night I was reminiscing on the utter brilliance that was that ‘Carry On’ video that ITVF1 did at the end of their reign with F1 coverage and I still stand by how awesome it is. Imagine the awkwardness getting to film that with all the various people involved! BBCF1 definitely need to do one. Have a wonderful Friday, everyone!
"Take a Walk on the wild Aside"
hehe!
"the band are going to be doing a one off gig at the O2 performing all the singles for one special night just before Christmas"
*jaw drops*
i am amazed by christine's panda pics too. not least because in all the time i've known her, i don't remember her drawing anything before.
Aw man, that ITV video is still epic!
never gets old.
I think Christine's drawings are quite good. My drawing is way worse than that
Roger is coming to Sydney!! Yaaay!
I thought you knew that already
Is Mr C sleeping? I thought he was supposed to be awake whenever Nina was awake?
Shhhhhhh Nina
Good to see that you are still holding the fort Mr Roy
howdy.
I am very good with kids.
Aha! My faith is restored!
That shhh you did has worked a treat.
:)
Neat news about Faith from 5by5 eh?
See. I have a real good way of making kids go from screaming to laughing but it is not something that is easy to explain.
small world! don't recognise the name though, is she on any shows i can listen to?
he's been a "maybe, possibly, probably not" ever since the tie was announced.
i realise that christine is going to yell at me for not knowing enough about 5by5. she might have been trying to educate me for weeks.
She will be on more but she's only been producing since 5by5 moved to Austin about 6 weeks ago and then Dan took 2 weeks off to have a baby. So she's mainly been silent except for a few bits and pieces. She did cohost one episode of the daily edition http://5by5.tv/dailyedition/72 but the mainly place I hear her is on the After Dark show. Because 5by5, like all good podcast networks is family friendly they don't let people swear on their shows. So Dan made a special hidden show called after dark which doesn't appear on the home page or the master feed. While they might swear on the after dark it's also where all the behind the scenes, producery, show titles and off topic stuff from all of the different shows shows up.
It was in an After Dark after Build and Analyse (which is Marco Arment of Instapaper fame's show) that she mentioned F1:
After Dark - http://5by5.tv/afterdark
The specific after dark - http://5by5.tv/afterdark/41
ah-ha. i had no hope of finding that! cheers.
I have a blog
http://zeropoundszeropence.wordpress.com/2011/09/02/bt-and-the-21st-century/
WHAAAT?!?!
great blog title!
I bet that wakened Nina
He he :) as well she might. Andy Ianthko has a new show starting there soon.
I listen to Build and Analyse as mentioned which is mainly iPhone development, The talk show which is John Gruber talking Apple stuff, Hypercritical which is John Siracusa talking Apple stuff and is Awesome in my opinion (but not for everybody), Back to Work with Merlin Mann, the Big Web Show with Jeffrey Zeldman and Critical Path with Horice Deidu (which is about the business side of tech).
It's the perfect network for me.
Wow. The world must be coming to an end or something. :O
Nice blog, Steven! :)
ooooooooh
(lowercase so not to wake Nina)
i gotta make time to listen. it's probably the perfect network for me, but i don't commute at the moment and can't work to voice, only music. grr.
five
YEARSyears!:D
Don't get excited it is only for one rant
i take what i can get :)
:D
got it. dan knows nothing about racing at all :)
Nothing!
And it's all BT's fault. Darn you to heck, BT!!! :P
:D
three weeks to go till Boy George ! ooops, wanted to say three weeks to go till Singapore GP :-)
really can't wait to go back after skipping last year
:D
it's been a glorious sunny day today. jessica ennis. goodnight.
he he :)
Good night Mr C
Steven that is amazing... I would point out that the CEO of BT's e-mail address is: ian.livingston at bt.com
And this is who that is: http://www.btplc.com/Thegroup/Ourcompany/Theboard/IanLivingston/IanLivingston.htm
I had intended finding that out but I had no internet to do it. Maybe he can fix the other half of the problem.
Maybe!
I have e-mailed him
Excellent!
It shouldn't be hard for him to find me as most of India has my mobile number
I think the most interesting part from his point of view of your story is that you are lucid, making a great point about their terrible customer service but also how making their customer service better would actually save them money.
Time to grab a couple of hours sleep.
My first sleep as a blog owner. I am going to be worried that something will happen to it when I am not there to protect it. What if it gets a comment or it gets Dugg or Slashdotted? What do you do if a day old blog gets a virus?
I am not ready for this level of responsibility
I was going to go on a massive rant but I thought it was better to be rational and point out the errors. When I got the tow truck idea I was so pleased because it is the perfect analogy.
I really can't wait to go back after going last year! It has really grown on me since my first visit.
Love it :D
I'm sure Alex can help you in taking care of a newborn.

Good night
Do you think his blog will wake him up if it gets a comment?
Good morning world! :)
I would not be surprised if there was a plugin for that :-)
Morning.
Tired, sore and very happy :) Got a few pats on the back today :)
Good morning RubberGoat
Interesting combination of feelings hehehe
Morning all.
Interesting news about Toro Rosso yesterday
Hi Leigh.
What happened to them?
(Finally) sold, apparently.

Team UAE. Wow, that sounds weird!
Aye - it's almost like A1GP never went away
;)
I've updated the Friends page of my blog.
I've added some SPC Regulars' blogs.

I'll add yours to my blog when I'm on next

Thanks :)
How well do you know your Formula 1 history?
The book That'll be the Day: 365 F1 Stories takes a look at significant moments or quirky happenings on this day in Grand Prix history. Can you guess what event the following describes?
Sir Stirling Moss.
pssst it's the first item in the daily ;)
Hi Amy.
Touché
Utterly superb - the rant/explanation without being shouty or abusive for the sake of it. I know all too well how bad BT are because my company owns a few properties for our farm workers and a few tenants. You would think after changing your details with them they would stick to an account for more than a week but no..
I like Kai's comment too.
Hmmm... Auto GP heading to Brazil and the US next year. One wonders how they'll afford it...
More importantly how the teams will
Without wishing to stir up a hornet's nest, it seems excessive to me to have an MP's enquiry into the BBC/Sky deal.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/94168
I read that last night. The questions isn't about the F1 deal as such, but rather why BBC apparently blocked Channel 4, thereby potentially breaking anti-trust laws within the television industry.
It could have been any sport, as opposed to F1 and it would have had to happen.
Hahaaa... on Autosport front page.
@10.42am - "Kobayashi thinks Sauber is in for a challenging race at Monza" - http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/94174
@10.57am - "Kamui Kobayashi: Sauber in for 'challenging' time at Monza" - http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/94175
Ahh I see. Not that 4 had the money anyway.
I think this is one of those stories that probably needs to be looked at from a media angle as opposed to a motorsport one, as Autosport may not examine the wider picture - it may not be in their frame of reference.
This one's gone now
You'd think they would have kopped what were essentially two closely matched press releases going as news going on site within a few minutes of each other
;)

Hello again.
How are you all?
My blog has 1.498. Two visits more for 1.500!
Help? http://martif1.com
done :)
I'm curious about Baltimore so I'm having a covert peek at Twitter which I never do from work.. And my fears were realised - it isn't yet 9am there and they've already delayed practices by at least 2 hours.
Thanks Pat! :)
considering the past week, let's be thankful it's happening at all
Nice.
Off to lunch.
Thanks to those who helped me to reach the 1.500 visitors! :)
Sounds like that first race at Sao Paulo?
Everything was a little later coming together because it was supposed to be near the path of Irene; however traffic management is non-existent and the drivers arrived yesterday to discover that jutted tramlines run across the long straight.
Just imagine this...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQOUKHVydqc
:o !!
True, but it doesn't look good.
Not at this stage - it does seem a bit ramshackle-ish from the organisers.
Anybody what website should I use if I want to create graphics?
Anybody knows, I mean.
http://www.picnik.com/
photoshop is faster though.
Thanks! :)
And do you know if there's a website which helps you to create graphics better than the excel ones?
not sure what you mean, charts and graphs?
Yep
maybe this: http://www.icharts.net/
never tried though. we use apple pages for sidepodcast charts.
Thanks again. Its website looks great, let's check it out :)
Marshall Pruett's feed has some pics
Cheers. I'm in work, so it'll have to wait.
So am I but it is Friday afternoon, I'm almost-but-not-quite on my own, and I'm thoroughly bored. :)
Well for some
;)
Renault reach conclusion with Heidfeld, and keep Senna for rest of the season... http://www.lotusrenaultgp.com/6469-Bruno-Senna-to-drive-for-remainder.html
nice one. dtm next then.
Hey Nick, it's BMW on the phone. :D
On another note, interesting that they kept Bruno in the rest of the way. Interlagos notwithstanding, I'm surprised Grosjean isn't getting another shot this year.
I would expect Grosjean to get Friday mornings and if his times are good he will race
does RJ have any sponsors? sounds like this is a pay drive from bruno.
*RG and not our RG, the other RG.
Fair enough. I think Senna at Williams is a strong possibility, though, while Sutil heads off to Virgin or someother.
Roland Garros? :D
not sure he does. but then, if bruno couldn't pay for a full season with HRT, how can he pay for this?
it's less than half a season :)
in a much better car - don't they cancel each other out? :)
Remember that guy behind the Brazilian sponsorship that appeared on the Renault at Spa is the eighth wealthiest man in the world!
Also remember that the team is in such desperate financial situation that Prodrive boss David Richards says he is negotiating to buy the team!
people don't get rich by giving their money away. just because he has some, doesn't mean bruno does?
I think he'd make a good endurance driver. He's consistent, reasonably fast (not top drawer but maybe 90%) and brings the car home often, exactly what Le Mans needs.
David Richards? Again?
Well, anyone but Group Lotus is fine by me.
In SA it was reported that the Brazilian sponsorship is very substantial! They can also ride on the crest of success of the Senna film. RG does not have that sort of connections. If Robert is able to comeback as I have said earlier I am fairly sure Petrov and his Dad's money will be looking elsewhere for a seat. On RG I think he might end up at Williams next year (he would my first choice).
There is only one RG, and it ain't Romain Grosjean in my mind! ;)
why would group lotus give up now? that's the craziest rumour ever. where in the world did that start, gmm or pitpass?
Sometimes I wonder if 'David Richards is negotiating to buy the team' is just fiction, the number of times I've heard it over the last decade.
Enjoy a little something from the Sidepodcast back catalogue.

My source Crashnet and F1SA are reporting it -
"Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf states that the Enstone-based outfit remains in 'big' financial difficulties, and that Richards – at the helm of the team in its Benetton guise for a single season back in 1998 – is interested in a potential takeover, with the support of billionaire Marcel Boekhoorn, whose son-in-law is GP2 Series front-runner and race-winner Giedo van der Garde."
GENII is an investment company buy at a low price and sell at a higher price - that would be my guess.
agreed. dany isn't going to stop until he runs out of money and he has a whole country backing him. unless dave is brought in to replace the genii guy, i'm not buying a word of it.
Neither, apparently - a quick Google shows Crash.net as the top result.
i think dany will run out of money sooner or later. the malaysians wouldn't want him to run the entire country into the ground. but i agree, i don't think dave is coming back anytime soon - not with him running Mini and WRC seemingly on the edge of a comeback.
even less likely is dave taking over from eric and having to take orders from dany. that's just a recipe for disaster.
I indeed see them selling, but to Group Lotus, not to Prodrive.
sort of F1 teams boogeyman - beware you might get bought up by Dave Richards - of it the factory is conveniently close to Prodrive I think? You guys living in the UK can correct me.
Hopefully soon so we can see the last of epic Eric!
First I have heard of DR to Renault but it makes a good conspiracy theory.
Bahar has to design, build and develop some very road cars and needs a market to sell them to. Prodrive have a far better reputation than Lotus and loads of loyal customers for hot Subarus and the like.
Group Lotus is a Malaysian / British company so have a Frenchman at the pineapple of their F1 team makes no sense. DR knows how to run a team and be a motorsport politician. He has already been team principal of that team in the past.
So why not some kind of Lotus - Prodrive deal that gives Bahar an F1 with Lotus all over it but run by Richards and Prodrive who actually have a clue about how to run a team.
Prodrive get a nice contract to test and develop Lotus road cars and flog some of their technology to Lotus.
So Lotus gets credibility, better cars and a well run team and DR gets the profile he wants and a fat cheque from Malaysia
i'm deferring to joe:
Team’s owner Genii Capital has merged its operations with Brazil’s World Wide Investments (WWI). The WWI company was formed in 2010 by the Sabo family, which owns an auto-parts company in Brazil, which announced that it had $1.28 billion to invest. ...In July Gerard Lopez and Bruno Senna travelled to Brazil looking for sponsors
http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2011/08/22/senna-to-replace-heidfeld/
Prodrive in the past has run multiple programs for multiple programs at the same time. When DR was doing F1 Dave Lapworth ran the rally team. When they planned their own F1 team Lapworth was put in charge of that project and someone else ran the rally team. Prodrive are not short of good people
I have a lot to do today to clean up now that I have power and water (woo hoo!), but wanted to put these here after you were referring to them, Pat. This is unreal, given that they're supposed to race this weekend. Hurricanes can be annoying, though, and we need to allow for whatever interference that made with preparations.
Indy Baltimore. Not quite ready.

@joshvc Everyone here wants it to succeed--cool people, backdrops, etc. Can't blame the series: It's on the promoters.
Another great weekend for IndyCar. Sheesh. This is too much.
You should put such skills into a fictional novel based on F1.
Cannot stand what Danny is doing to Lotus as a car manufacturer - his proposed designs are generic junk! If they want brilliant designs they need Matt Humphries.
every.race. unreal.
They don't sell. How many Bob Judd books has anyone read? I read three or four and only just discovered the others exist
http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/j/bob-judd/
woah, retro website.
Truth is stranger than fiction. It keeps getting more and more ridiculous. I've never watched a series implode so quickly. It's so much worse with every weekend!
ALMS too. You'd think either series would've sent people there a few days ago to check it out, and IndyCar probably shouldn't schedule a new event the week after a race the other side of the country.
The organisers did have the hurricane to prepare for though so I'm sure that's a big reason why a lot of work hadn't been done, so we can't be overly harsh. The other reason could be because the main straight is apparently a very busy road and they didn't close it early enough.
It was the first return on a search. Tells you everything about F1 novels
I can understand why maybe they didn't get all the paving done (hurricane and all that).
But then there are the train tracks. They didn't magically appear this past week. They've always been there. I'd honestly like to know what the they were thinking when they laid it out.
Very true on the storm bit. I know Maryland got hit pretty hard, but didn't follow it, as I had my own stuff to worry about, so we can't be too hard on them about that.
ok, sorry, but that's just idiotic. That has nothing to do with anything but poor planning.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens with this, though.
considering the optimism that was around when they merged the series, it's just been a long fall ever since.
the question is, what would f1 have done?
hehe
They weren't thinking of the actual racing, that's for sure. Maybe it went by the most spectators/most paying seats or something...
They said that about films in the past -now the Senna flick - next it will be the Hunt-the_Shunt film coming! What about an e-book!
Penalized Hamilton for causing the hurricane.
:)
:)
:)
am confused by the train tracks. are they saying they can't race over them? what are they going to do??
:D
Bernie would have turned up and told them stuff wasn't shiny enough so they owe him a forfeit fee
so you think Hamilton is GOD!
Yep. As if they didn't realise race cars can't go over them at speed, if at all.
did someone say ebook? red dog, i can sell you two of those:

Delays were caused because of safety fencing that was taken down in preparation for Hurricane Irene last weekend, which is being re-installed. Safety of the drivers, crews and spectators is paramount. Downtown didn't sustain any damage from the hurricane that roared up the East Coast.
Further revisions might be necessary, according to INDYCAR president of competition and operations Brian Barnhart.
"Obviously, the fans and drivers are disappointed with the delays, but there's always some growing pains with a first event," Service Central Chip Ganassi Racing driver Graham Rahal said as he toured the circuit at 11 a.m. "Without a doubt they'll get it sorted. I think if this event is around for many years it has the potential to be fantastic.
"If they could smooth out the railroad tracks on Pratt Street, which is the front straight, and the rest of the track has the making for a fantastic place to go racing."
The schedule delay was helpful in a sense to Simona de Silvestro, who was able to tour the track multiple times after missing the track walk Sept. 1. De Silvestro, who did not compete in the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma on Aug. 28 because of an issue with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, arrived in town early in the evening.
They built a very tight chicane in the middle of the straight to slow the cars
How do you write F1 fiction that is stranger than reality. One driver rams another and not one single person I have seen is prepared to argue with that yet both drivers get penalised and the one that used his car as a weapon gets a 5 place grid drop/
Charlie Whiting lies and is proved to have lied to the ICA to get Lewis Hamilton penalised after saying during the race that everything had been done properly. He then carries on in his job like nothing happened. No-one in the FIA comments on it. The team he lied against does nothing. Not one single journalist to my knowledge published anything questioning this.
If I had written those I would have been told they were too unbelievable and ruined a good book
dear lord.
I already know of one ALMS GT team which has packed up and gone home.
gee, do ya think, BB?
Are BT running this race?
joe did. but he is in the minority. i think it says a lot about hamilton that i trust mansel and his judgement more than i trust lewis.
yeah, 'hey, look here. These will be kinda bumpy. Could you smooth those out for us, by, say, 3 hours from now? Thanks.'
Not the price mate just our painful bureaucracy with overseas transactions.
Should say, if we do lose today's running completely it will be the ALMS (and some support races) which will take the bigger hit. Their race is on Saturday. At least IndyCar has time on Sunday if they need to qualify then.
hehe
:)
in that case, it makes no odds if steven writes one or not.
Joe could not see what Hamilton was penalised for as has everyone else
hey, there's your second blog post right there. fix indycar for us.
*runs*
I am thinking for the entire F1 fraternity and how entertaining it would be!
This one. You can see the embedded tram tracks in the foreground, race traffic would be coming toward us.

I like Ollie, he's a good guy and seems really level headed about things, no hype.

Guinea pigs
@almsnotes ALMS Racing
On-track action from @BaltimoreGP. F2000 cars making the first laps around #BGP2011 circuit. #ALMS
...and go bouncing off into the Chesapeake Bay.
Meesh @whatimthinking says the F2000 cars are on track now! At last. Now.. what will go wrong next :)
@AllenWedge is there too..
Not even one lap in and 4 cars missed turn 1 and the 5th car hit it
Too bad the ALMS is the only one I care about right about now (if the other option is indycar, that is)
Martin Brundle tweeted this a minute or two ago:
No I haven't signed with BBC, they know exactly how I feel about diluting F1 show. Just think BBC is one of best things our small island has
I think my second blog post may be more about BT. I e-mailed the CEO last night and suggested he read the post. I missed a call from the executive level complaints team so she e-mailed me and said they were prepared to consider another £10 compensation. I don't think they are taking me seriously yet. So I replied to the CEO that I was not impressed so someone else phoned to organise a call with Exec complaints team on Monday where they may be able to offer more compensation but after that there is nothing more they can do.
I fear I may have to escalate.I wonder how much pain I have to inflict before they realise I am not going away.
Ouch
Pruett:
Poor 2-liter kids. Look like they are driving on ice out there. Red flag on Lap 2...spun or crashed cars line the track...
A tenner? Honestly?
Remember our brain's pre-existing experiences puts a powerful filter on how we see things. I am not a Hamilton fan so I can see how Hamilton might not be entirely innocent! Our brain is interpreting all the time so each of us creates a unique view on events. FIA should nevertheless provide explanations like they did in Canada I think!
ooh, so they may bump it up to £12?
;)
It's typical of race organisers. Put out the people who can't afford to repair the damage because they will get less bad publicity from this than writing off a few Indycars
Did I mention that (for IndyCar at least), the pitlane is double-sided for two rows? Most of the cars pit on the right hand side of pitlane but it isn't long enough so Patrick and Carpenter have to pit on the left, opposite two other cars. This place sounds crazy.
BBC is awesome in terms of how it puts out programmes.
Also the pitlane is halfway around the track, I think between turns 8 and 9
omg.
Be fair they already gave me a fiver.
I really don't know what planet these people are on. I am now writing a letter to the chief exec with a business proposition trying to explain how much money they could save if they did things a little differently
Can't wait until QI starts again next week.
Will Brundle's opinion change anything, though? Then again, if anyone can do it, Brundle can!
I'm starting to wonder if the BBC may change their mind, after all. They are still getting a lot of pressure - and it may begin ramping up again with the House of Commons investigation coming.
And charge me £3.99 for postage
is this on a live feed anywhere? I want to see this.
If there was such a thing as a reject track, this is it.
Can't see how that could go wrong
He just said he's not signed for Sky either
Something I've always wondered, and not just here, if the indy car pits are all setup, where are the ALMS pits? Do they share?
I didn't think IndyCar could get worse but my God they are impressing me.
Not until the ALMS starts, and it'll be ESPN3 in the US and americanlemans.com everywhere else - in theory.
oh, good question.
same.
In other words, it's his market to control. They're not getting anyone better than him that's generally known and accepted.
ok then. I'll duck out now to get more food for newly cleaned out fridge and be back soon.
At Long Beach they share the pitlane and effectively alternate stalls, or as good as. Indy-ALMS-Indy-ALMS. But LB has a really really long pitlane. If they are doing that here it could be why they are tight for space.
The ALMS should ship out Saturday night so there'll be more room on Sunday.
Normally what happens is that if a junior class has pit stops they use the same pits but they have no real facilities. Not sure how that works for ALMS when they obviously need re-fuelling and tyres stops.
In F1 what happens is the teams close their garage doors and the GP2 people haul everything they need from their paddock and park it in front of the garages.
I didn't even think about the pit reporters..
@LindyThackston (Versus) So @DanicaPatrick + @67edcarpenter have pit boxes on opposite side of pit lane of everyone else ... and they are in my section ... hmmm
:)
facebook campaign :)
That's what the Indy Lights and Star Mazda teams do too. ALMS needs pit boxes though.
is there a fine for bringing motor sport into disrepute?
If there was then NASCAR would be out of business.
I have no idea when their session will be. The red flag has already been out once and I expect at least one in every session.
I've got to disappear a little later too so I'll have to catch it tomorrow I think.
where's the pressure, the commons investigation isn't going to make any difference.
the bbc don't have the money and are restricted on budget. they want the cap lifted, that's the only thing that can save f1 from sky. if it's even possible to back out of the deal now.
heh
People often ask what is different about F1 now. Watch this on board lap with Ronnie Peterson at Anderstorp. The car is a March 721. I just can't take my eyes off the suspension movement. Imagine a modern car on a track that bumpy.
Also notice how often he slides the car. That is probably a combination of his spectacular style, the fact the car wasn't very good and the camera weighing more than the driver and being a lot higher up
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHjiVzwXCAE&feature=feedrec
I am not getting dragged into facebook. I only use it to take poker chips off the worst poker players in the world. I cannot imagine why people pay zinga for chips as I just collect them like they are going out of fashion. Two weeks ago when I started playing I had 85k and the last time I looked I had 900,000
just brilliant:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMDFhsTtmLw
There should be but they seem to largely ignore the FIA anyway.
At least the fans have showed up, I wondered if it might be empty.
Incredible fans here. So many have come out and THEY are apologizing to US for the track not being ready! - James Hinchcliffe @Hinchtown
If my wife did that for me I might love her forever.
;)
Fantastic
I did think though that Webber was The Stig initially
That's amazingly good!
heheh that's awesome. :)
#sidepodspace
I heard this earlier. We all know about plans to divert asteroids that are heading straight at us. The Chinese are going one better. They want to pull asteroids into Earth orbit and mine them
http://www.cosmostv.org/2011/09/chinese-want-to-capture-asteroid-into.html
Looks like they're about to start ALMS practice 20 minutes "early", ESPN3 doens't start streaming it until 2:40 eastern
You'd never catch F1 at a featureless airfield now.
Oh.
:D
Good afternoooon :)
Outside the US go to http://americanlemans.com and a link will appear in about 7 minutes time.
Anybody has an iPod Touch?
I've got a nano, but I may buy one in the next weeks.
What do you think of it? Should I do it?
Evening
Guess Nick got his dosh $$ and is now out
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/article/ALeqM5j8hZbfajemiffQivt3ydSRf0gBUg?docId=N0166921314981819757A
Link is there, video player is there, video is not
Now working
Good evening :)
Hello. Did you have more records today?
Hello! :)
Missed it by £2 :D I'm happy happy though. I'll be hitting my bonus for the month so it's pennies in the university fund :D
As long as you are getting the bonus
Have you managed to stay out of trouble? No more fake faulty phones?
Onboard lap, it actually looks like a really good track
My phone is now working but.....
http://sidepodcast.com/post/daily-2nd-september-2011/comments#comment-1165335
It does eh
Surprisingly it does.
thought it would be a lot bumpier.
Queston: If I buy an iPod Touch, with the book reader, could I read Christine's books?
I know I can read them on my pc, but it feels really weird. I may buy it. All opinions will be well recieved :)
It looks pretty rough on the concrete? sections
Yes, I read them through the kindle app on my iPad, pretty sure the app is available for the ipod touch as well.
Mr C has an ipod Touch so he can tell you. Andy and Jeremy both work for Apple so if you see either of them around they know all about it
Hahaha it's so derisory. It's like when skype sent me a dollar. I'd rather have nothing than that paltry sum. It's insulting!!
Yeah, you're right. I think that's concrete and it does look pretty rough. The asphalt looks fairly smooth, though.
In my first post on my blog I said it was like being patted on the head and told to stand in the corner.
Yes. It's the joins between all the concrete blocks that are the problem
Nice :)
Thanks!
I thought it would be like that all the way around
Me too
Yeah.
Having driven through those streets... *shudder*. I hated driving in that city. Of course, I hate driving through all east coast cities.
yup. they look lovely with the new retina display. you can read ibooks or kindle books on the ipod touch.
Thanks :)
I may buy the 32GB version. I've got a nano of 16, but i've worked a bit this summer and I want to give myself a little whim.
Are you happy with this mp4?
mp4?
Well, iTouch. However you call it.
McLaren? :D
Lots of spinners at Baltimore. Just had a traffic jam of spinners
oh, yes. it's awesome. you should know a new model is likely in october.
You like it now? I'm sure you were horrified by it when you first got it?
Yes, I've heard something about that... But I am afraid it will be too much expensive for me.
I've surfed the Apple website and found out a bit about the current version. I think it's brilliant.
Actually the 32GB version costs 200€.
You have a blog? ... url please
I am still recovering from shock!
I remember the disappointment. Steve said it was shiny and magic and it was bought on impulse
It's not what you think
http://zeropoundszeropence.wordpress.com/2011/09/02/bt-and-the-21st-century/
the camera is worse than hopeless, so i don't use the camera. if you pretend there isn't one, it's perfect.
You could have left a comment
:D
Well, time to leave.
Bye!
Bye Marti

#confidentialfromchristine
I'm still only 1/rd of the way down
My comment was aimed at Lukeh
I don't like that chicane at Baltimore. That is going to get jumped left right and centre during the race
I know, it's a whopper of a post though :-)
And now that you have a blog, any chance of some F1 goodness on it?
Not until BT surrender to my will
I was promised another post. I can't see it!!
Definitely. But I don't mind that as much as I mind how narrow the other chicane is, and that there's a concrete wall to hit.
I haven't written it yet. I am in the middle of writing a letter to the CEO following an exchange of e-mails today
Is that a gopro on the top of the drivers hlemet?
It is. The commentator just said so. And said he wished he had invented it
First proper crash. Red flag
Blue Porsche 66 in the wall
They had a gopro on a rear wing end plate. It is now out on the track somewhere as the result of some contact with a wall
Chequered out. Interesting track, now I've seen it I like it a lot more than I thought I would, it has potential if not for this year then for next. I'm not yet sure if there are decent passing places but there aren't at Long Beach either really. More of a driving challenge.
Oddly the feed was actually delayed by 25 minutes.
ALMS qualifying is at 6pm ET / 11pm UK.
Poor showing Roy!
Shame they didn't tarmac the whole track. I didn't even notice the train tracks
You don't know how good the letter is.
Besides it is unrealistic to expect two posts in two days after years of waiting for the first. At least the first one was not 100 words and instantly forgettable
I don't know if you saw it but mid-session they showed how the asphalted over one set of them and covered them completely, they'll dig them out again on Monday. Why they couldn't do that on the main straight I don't know, those were left open but they are embedded so you can't see them very well.
wha?
why, cause everyone has one?
I wasn't paying attention. I saw them putting down a mesh and tarmac but I didn't realise that it was where the tracks are.
He didn't say but I guess it is a cool invention and sells like money is going out of fashion
Hehe. Did you spell McDonalds properly? :P
everyone has one but me :(
When you take up an extreme sport, you can have one.
Did you catch which car it was? I wasn't sure if it was the spinner at the end or another one.
bah!
You have an iphone and selotape, it's the same thing. Especially good for christmas parties I hear.
;)
Is it wrong in the post?
McD does not appear in the letter. The letter is all business and is about cost savings I could make BT based on my experiences
Now you know you just need to stand next to race tracks and wait for one to come flying at you
YES
I suggest ski jumping
Gunnar Jeannette
christ!
I'm sure its just like being on an escalator, just... snowier.
It's perfect. You just stand there and do nothing. Far better than rock climbing or ice climbing where there is lots of work involved. The other option is bungee. You just have to stand still then fall
Thanks. I had a dig and found this YouTube channel which looks full of GoPro stuff?
http://www.youtube.com/user/gunnarjeannette
wow.
He said the info from his helmet cam is really useful to his engineer who spends all his time playing iracing so likes to see the driver's view
Perfect extreme sport for Mr C
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz8wW9L0sIU
never.
It's just falling
That looks brilliantly fun.
No way.
for no reason!
It does. And you don't even get cold
I'm applying for my uni parking permit. Wish me (and Alphonso) good luck! :D
Christine will let you have a gopro. Is that not enough reason to fall over
:) :)
And a lovely view of Dubai as well.
They have to let Alphonso in somewhere warm
If you volunteer to be out of hours casualty transport, it used to guarantee a prime parking spot
Evening all
Hi Bassano
They're trying to say I shouldn't be allowed a parking place at all. Very rude! I'm sure they'll change their minds once they meet Alphonso.
No way, it's for the ride*
[Point Break]
Sky diving is such a rush!
These places are not car friendly any more, I'm not sure they have car interviews
I understand. But there are parking places for 2nd/3rd years living there. I think that as an older 1st year, I should be considered for a permit. It's not like I'm an 18 year old who can just leave all their stuff with their parents.
Thatsounds far too rational for a parking committee
Am gonna try out Red, the crusties with guns action flick. Anyone seen it?
Nope
How's the communication situation now Steven? I have the blog post saved for tomorrow
Mary Louise Parker, I'm hooked
Phone is working and I have a call booked with the Exec Complaints team on Monday. I am now writing a business letter to the CEO showing him how cost savings could be made and offering my assistance.
Nice approach, I like it
it's been 'filmwatched', but that contains spoilers.
i liked it, the guy from airwolf is in it :)
I was going to be really annoying but I decided it would be better to be constructive. Hopefully he will actually see the letter and appreciate the opportunity
Steven Moffat just tweeted this Dr Who acapella
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2rfTR1PJkk&feature=player_embedded
absolutely genius... but oddly reminds me of giggles
I hope so, what have you got to lose? Maybe copy in the 'Customer Experience Director' or whatever they call it in their fantasy world
Jan Michael Vincent?
that's him.
actually... no, the other guy.
Bullets in the frying pan, good diversion
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Borgnine
Ernest Borgnine?
I demand a DNA test
I thought you had patented wibbly wobbly timey wimey
That's my friend's [great?] Uncle
Really!
awesome.
He was in that helicopter thing
So I hear
;)
hehe
I just said that
I thought that was Mr C :)
I got distracted by Ms Parker
it was ;)
He wasn't in Airwolf.
If he had been he could have had a gopro
hehehe
SidepodAirwolf?
Who do we know that has a helicopter?
Richard Branson? Loosely
i'm not jumping out of a helicopter.
Meestah Brundull
Would a plane be more palatable. It could be a SidepodFundRaiser
Is he going to let Mr C drive it?
Why are we playing with his helicopters when he has space ships?
(now humming the theme tune)
Hahaha, here's his team a little while ago :)
RT @coreautosport: If you're at the @BaltimoreGP and find a GoPro camera, please return to @gunnarjeannette at the CORE autosport...
Little steps. I doubt very much Mr C will jump out of a space ship on his first go. He's not good with sticking to the script
You really have to admire BT's brass neck. I give the my e-mail address in the early hours of this morning as the result of a little disagreement and they just sent me an e-mail with their new deals on cordless handsets.
The dispute is not settled yet and my e-mail address has already been passed to their sales people
:D
hehehehe!
I doubt a human has even read it yet
Surely driving it is extreme enough for Christine. Of course if he wanted to go spacewalking that has the advantage that you are falling without actually falling
Just watched the Video in the post again. Was truly awesome. One thing ITV did right.
They have. I got a one line e-mail from the CEO and two phone calls from the exec complaints team and another call booked for Monday
Never gets old!
jaime... i think?
http://yfrog.com/h88ukmjj
More fuel for the fire then
Just reading the filmography, that's quite a list!
That's freaky. Forget the eyes, is that even a real horse?
Stunning.
This is the new calm me. Another line in the section of how not to wind up your customers though
New series of Outnumbered just popped up on the iplayer
I always think of him in The Poseidon Adventure
He was in every film going for years
I don't think Toro Rosso will be sacking him any time soon #slightlyscared
I picture him in war films although I can't think which ones. I always see him in an open green fatigues jacket.
Odd thing memory
Bruno & ? for next year?
Gone through the list of films, and remember him in Gattaca, which is a personal favourite.
Great film
Work had a running dispute with BT, and it took a good 2 years to sort out. Their support to customers is non existent.
When I saw the photo I pictured him in a submarine, and it turns out he was in Torpedo Run
New customers are easier to gain than retain disgruntled ones. Sorry fact
But there's only a finite customer pool. Once you've had your customers poached, how would you get them to come back after experiences like that?
Other peoples' more suckier experiences or introductory rates
It's true. It surprises me when companies operate like this.
I think the problem is that a large percentage of the people who work for them started when they had a monopoly and they have never understood the real world. My first job was in the civil service and I left after nine months bored out of my brain because nothing ever happened and no-one was interested.
I have since dealt with defence companies that were spun off from the civil service and they all have the same mentality. Dealing with Ford os a million times harder than dealing with the top defence contractors in the country
Working for a an ex-nationalised company, I can completely agree. Culture runs for a looooong time
they're a monopoly, where else are we going to go?
They're not a monopoly. You don't need to pay them anything. Someone else can manage your line for you.
Are they still? VM, British Gas, the Post Office, probably Man Utd have a phone service these days
ahhh, yes manage. and who's going to install a new line when you move house?
Noe you can get your line rental from a range of companies. Most broadband suppliers offer line rental
Installation etc is a monopoly
open reach are the only people who can touch the cabinets. it's still a monopoly.
I was lucky (or unlucky depending on your opinion) to have a different supplier (Virgin Media, was Cabletel when I joined, then NTL) when I moved to my house.
They don't have such a great customer experience, but I've never had a problem that hasn't been sorted within a week or so.
I don't use them but I accept your point, for broadband. The rest is just B2B
yup. every twisted copper pair underground is still owned by BT. competitors only rent the line. if it breaks, you go back to BT.
if you're in a cable area, that's true. sadly for rural people, it's BT or nothing.
There are many rural areas that still don't have broadband speeds. WiFi is probably a better option now
wifi?
Quality VOIP has to be a better option now with the advent of large area WiFi on the horizon
i have no idea what large ear wifi is? who's got it and where?
*large area.
My aunt has cool skype phones they only work over home wifi though.
Not now but it's probably 2 years away. Requires large power at base but has to be better than copper of fibre optic to you street
If we had big enough ears we would not need phones
I can't remember or find the acronym but it's on the horizon
how can anything be better than fibre to your street/door? it enables 100MB broadband now and so much more in the future.
Sounds like a nightmare tbh. I bet it gives you cancer.
Reading Steven's Blog Post, reminds me how ill-informed BT are.
In my work, I have, and still do, repair equipment that can Fax.
Now I know some of you still can't believe that businesses use Fax technology, but they do.
A number of callouts are for people saying there's something wrong with the Fax machine, and say they've got BT to check the line, and they say it's working properly, when it quite obviously is not.
I don't wanna speak to people, I do enough of that at work!
I heart my fax machine. We don't own a computer. The fax rocks my world.
I want fibre. Unless they cap the usage.
Tis why I got an iPOD and not an iPHONE.
They'll have a man in the road waving a flag, like those new dangled automobiles
Welcome to the 80's, Bob Geldof is on the phone, he wants your money
If you live in the right street
But the places they don't want to cable will be the same places that can't even get a mobile signal as well....
The line tests they run whilst you wait on the phone are utterly useless. I know our company is in the sticks but it happens every time the line (fairly frequently) breaks down, they test it, say it is okay and almost scornfully say so, "well we'll send an engineer anyway but it looks fine", engineer discovers fault which takes a while to fix because it is a big fault.
There's a reason for that
Sounds familiar
:D
I don't expect fibre to cabinet in our town for years yet, let alone fibre to door
excellent, we can blame microsoft when iCloud collapses: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/09/02/icloud_runs_on_microsoft_azure_and_amazon/
Apple has selected Microsoft's Azure and Amazon's AWS to jointly host its iCloud service
worryingly we're running half of sidepodcast on AWS, so it might take us down too.
I get at least 1 or 2 calls a month where I have to say "No, this is British Airways"
I wish I could be more creative with the them
Is it any wonder Steve is not feeking well?
the system is built on an old cobol mainframe. its still runs from a machine(s) that may still have some form of punchcard input or at least no mouse/keyboard (honestly). the fact it works at all is nothing short of miraculous. it should've gone bang in 2000.
I'd go with Amazon, don't know enough about M$'s infrastructure but there's a few million Kindles out there and some tablets to come
Well yes, it's rural and unless you can convince a company to do something to be nice rather than to make some money....
The idea of a signal powerful enough to blast quick internet through the air is pretty horrifying for me though tbh.
ALMS qualifying from Baltimore is live imminently, a couple of short sessions first for GT then LMP.
http://www.americanlemans.com/primary1.php?cat=live
http://scoring.americanlemans.com/scoring.php
A brief practice first
Hehehe why don't you :D
that's the clean version.
(and one I reenacted in school assembly once *shudders*)
Yikes! I had no idea those still existed.
Shooting the RPG! That was cool
#Red
It works. Less facebook.
what's odd, is that apple use akamai for itunes delivery and have done for years. akamai is bigger than both of those two in this area, so maybe apple think they need all of them to get it to work.
At work we have internet via some sort of line-of-sight link to a transmitter on the hill. It breaks down often. Speeds are comparable to home broadband in the middle of town.
They have a data centre in NC as big as Norfolk [nearly]. Is it the bits inbetween they need?
it's distribution. is short, NC is quite far away from the UK so they copy the bits and bytes closer, meaning we don't have to drag it under the sea each time we sync.
bits of sidepodcast are synced to 11+ locations on the globe thanks to AWS. with all three on board, apple can get very close to wherever you are on the planet.
the NC thing isn't about distribution, it's just the central hub.
That sounds like fibre optic, without the "fibre" bit. Infra Red????
Or microwave.
#NeedsMoreSatellites
Then again, I hear space junk is a big issue now
Radio. There's an aerial on the roof.
space is even farther away than NC. if you're reducing latency, you want to get your data from london.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-14757926
Why have one server on one continent? Have thousands above you
it's too far and too slow.
Does the info travel from the hub at the speed of light now?
People are a disgrace really aren't they.... Can't take them anywhere.
And about to get worse when the Chinese start catching asteroids and parking them in orbit
latency to the fastest satellite is approx 40ms. from my house to an AWS location is 18ms.
i reckon apple can lower that further, but we'll see when iCloud launches.
I'm sure there's a lot of valuable resources in those rocks
i guess "lowest" is a better description than fastest.
I reckon that could easily be cut with improved reception points with 18months
They plan to mine them. I posted a link earlier
i reckon apple know what they're doing :)
i'm still blaming microsoft when it fails though.
In space? Like Bruce?
Agreed. Or #BlameTim will be the buzz hash of 2012
Bruce had to blow them up, I'm guessing the Chinese see useful microchip ingredients in them
heh
Jeroen Bleekemolen lost a wheel from his Porsche, went into a runoff area which has an exit the other side via a tyre wall chicane. He parked, got out, picked up the wheel, put it into the car and drove away! The shortcut leads into pit entry..
Evening folks
That sounds weird
Hi Leigh
Hi Bassano,
How are you and everyone else for that matter?
Decent Friday fare. And you?
Not too bad. Bit tired though. Off to Rockingham in the morning, so a busy weekend ahead.
:)
Does anyone have any magic sleeping potion?
Would this place exist after 10pm if we did?
Nytol One A Nights,
Or Sominex.
Good thanks.
Next time you go shopping, Nytol
Yeah, those
more than the recommended dose, but keep it to a minimum. Apparently it's quite addictive.
Yes
So that's why I get a mild questioning at the pharmcy!
I used to use them about once a month when I was on shift
Never seen that done before
Close your eyes and think of Alphonso
I don't know why they bother with that though. Anyone with any sense would be able to make up enough lies to convince a pharmacist surely. Waste of everyone's time.
They are like the Israeli airport perimeter staff, they are experienced I these things.
Let's move on, slippery ground here
Oh yes.
Interesting news about the TV deal for the F1 support package next year.
I'm watching a documentary about some woman who sent £60 000 to a man she'd never met.
Answer with the following:
"Yes I've had them before, a while ago"
"No I'm not on other medication"
"It's just a one-off use"
Was in prison in Tennessee?
About the Nigerian 419 Scammers?
That's the one! Some people are really really daft!
I heard it came up in parliament, was gonna wait until the dust settled. F1 news works slowly these days, at least the bottom line anyway
I have a Sky Go Login. I can watch blocky playback whilst listening to 5live.
I'm talking about GP2, GP3 and Porsche Supercup.
Oh, I think Noble tweeted about F1 coverage today. I haven't got round to reading it
GP2 coverage can't get worse the Eurosport
The Scam Baiters who try to get one over on them are quite amusing though.
I haven't seen any news
The entire support package is going to Sky too, essentially allowing Sky to wrap up the entire GP weekend.
If you have that much money to give to a stranger, you probably bought your way out of a Darwin award years ago
Can't deny Sky are so far going all out on this.
I had an inkling it might happen, because it'd give Sky an advantage over other bidders, but was just waiting to hear it for sure.
Makes sense really, shame though as I can watch them live if I want to (and when Eurosport deign to). Not that I do because I always forget.
No word yet about Eurosport (UK or Europe) or Nova Sprt's coverage yet.
If eurospot show 50%, how much of the year would be on time?
60%
;)
I should add I have no idea if Sky's deal with the GP package is UK only, or Europe-wide.
I've almost given up caring, until March
really frustrating
Talk about cutting it fine !! GT1 have confirmed their second race in Beijing is to take place -- next week.
Thankfully, they are currently in Ordos, but the teams up until yesterday were unsure if the Beijing race was still going ahead...
Night folks, happy Saturday
Night Bassano
Goodnight
Goodnight
I may say goodnight too - early train and all.
'Night.
:)
Night
love this insight into interviewing madonna: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-14765547
"The pack of calm journalists who had stood outside in the hotel corridor an hour earlier, hot but happy, were now flaming fuming."
one little quick thought before i dash off to get some sleep;
Having watched Sky's coverage of the tennis all evening i honestly don't think i can watch their coverage of F1 without going insane.. of course i will as i'm not sure i can face missing races but oh my goodness the CONSTANT adverts are as annoying as hell! It would be a nightmare for F1 i think, ITV were bad enough.I feel bad for people who's coverage is like this of F1 already. constant short ad breaks are awful!!
anyway, i felt like i needed to tell people this because mum just doesn't seem to understand how annoying there are and i knew you lovely people would understand!
Haven't they said there would be no in-race adverts?
I never thought about these things being videoed by the person giving the interviews before. BBC needs to give gopros to interviewers
ha
Hello, cheerio
just noticed from the wall of awesome organisation that it's amy's daily today. i'm guessing that noticing such a thing maybe 12 hours earlier might've been more use.
if amy's around, does you need a supersub?
Amy the master planner will have a post ready
i don't know? I haven't heard that but i may have just forgotten... i forget alot :( All i could think while watching the tennis was just how irratating adverts really are. Specially that Fernando Alonso one.. *shudders* Don;t think i've ever watched that many advert breaks in one tennis match ever! At one point there was one at the end of each game!! If we're not gonna have adverts for f1 at least that's something :)
I am sure they did
cool. i'll leave it then.
i would be stunned if they don't drop them in for red flags and safety cars.
Or the three minutes of replays of the start
parade lap for certain.
maybe they are trying to make up for all the lost advert time now with the tennis. I swear i saw more adverts than play! :(
yeah, it's the sky way. you pay for coverage and then suffer through adverts.
the fact it's not even his voice annoys me greatly
5 live commentary will hopefully pull me through (hopes)
Football is good, because when the ads come along, you tend to find yourself looking elsewhere to miss the analysis that's coming up.
it's ridiculous. I'd never pay for the coverage they produce. ever. I'm just pleased my Dad does. I've never thought while watching the cricket/tennis oooohh this is great i'd totally pay for this.. the bbc is miles above them imo.
5 live can get me through even the worst race. I'm just relying on Sky to provide the picture feed to my tv.. 5 live will still be my comms of choice and bbc my coverage of choice.
probs too early to call, but next year, are you planning to come home for races?
you might have trouble syncing them up, but not sure how annoying that will be. the extra HD delay is unbearable to me.
Are you using SkyGo? Because I find when watching football/indy/speedway it likes to be a good 30-45 seconds behind the action.
ouch!
at the moment, crofty might say "and driver X is in the wall", but you look up and he's still going round. ...and then he crashes.
yep. every race i can't watch at uni i'll have to. I wish i had it in me to just miss a race or catch up later but i just can't. The idea of missing a race unnecessarily is unthinkable.. i know how that must sound! :) I travelled home for one day to watch a race last year so it's not that i'm not familiar with it. Sad thing is i may end up with a TV in my house this year, was hoping that i could save myself the money on the commute home for a race but it seems not.
I do have the ability to watch sky on my mac if i want to, so depends on internet speeds i think.
It gives you warning something will happen... which is in a one item list of upsides.
You need to listen to 5 live on the net to minimise the gap
:)
it's okay, i'm happy to be a few seconds behind the action, I'll just try and sync it at the start of the race... i'll put my sky on pause and try it that way... Crofty and Ant make the races so much more enjoyable than they already are i'm more than happy to be a second or two behind. anymore than a minute and we may have an issue tho.
we do, but HD delay is something like 5-10 seconds.
did 5 live say they were working on the delay at all? although i suppose it's out of their hands. :(
they tried i think, but i heard nothing back.
Is it my week to do the daily? #sorryeveryone
And I told Mr C you would be organised
I don't see an 8 hour delay being a problem
my fault. i have a wall that tells me what's what, christine left me in charge and failed you all.
:D
Then it is Christine's fault for being so irresponsible and leaving you in charge
it's miracle i'm still alive. let me tell ya.
:D
amy, am happy to do a supersub post if you're busy.
Not busy but just woke up. Will write one now if youll still be around to post it
certainly. i have wine, music and it's still dark outside :)
Is it afternoon there already?
1.35pm
That's way too early to be getting up
I'm not up, just awake :D
:D
we're having the warmest start to spring in a number of years and it does look like a nice day out there but I don't believe in getting out of bed on a Saturday.
Unless it is quali day of course
or if tennis is in town :D
I learned tennis stuff earlier. Djockovic sp? is getting married and his best man is Andy Murray
haha Andy later denied that :D
The one thing I know about tennis is wrong.
http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/02092011/58/open-murray-djokovic-best-man.html
try the first item on http://www.espn.co.uk/tennis/sport/story/109125.html :D
That reads like something Bernie would say. There is probably some loophole he can crawl through later and claim he told the truth.
F1 has made me a cynic
haha. I'm sure if he was to have a best man it'd probably be one of his brothers :)
Maybe getting someone from outside stops the brothers fighting because one of them who wanted to do it wasn't chosen
right, super late super short daily has been sent to Mr C. That Heikki never gets up to much these days :)
Need to introduce him to Franck. Then they can do stuff together and give you and Christine stuff to write about
I forgot to say, I think I might win the lottery tonight. Just for a laugh.
Does that not involve going out?
ooh, ta.
nope, https://www.tattersalls.com.au/ :D
Good luck
Surely that $21 million is mine :D
