The ever-lasting hiatus continues as Sidepodcast Towers takes a break from all things Formula One. Here is your daily thread, that was written days in advance, so will contain no information of relevance.

According to the peoples encyclopedia, London's first ever underground railway opened up today back in 1870. Ah, lovely innovation and trains mixing together. My favourite London Underground is the one that doesn't go underground. Great fun, that one.

Don't forget to keep being polite to each other, I know you wouldn't dream of do anything else. But remember, we’ll be even more miserable if we have to get back and wade through pages of nasty comments.

Have a good day.

Any more interesting developments about the confusion that two separate organizations that share the same initials many have caused Sidepodcast? I do not follow not really twitter.

Any more interesting developments about the confusion that two separate organizations that share the same initials many have caused Sidepodcast? I do not follow not really twitter.

THe last development was that they asked for the section of their lawyer's message that was posted in the comments to be removed because we pointed out the spelling mistake here and quite a few dozen times on twitter. We also have clear information that they have no case but since they have gone away we have stopped slaughtering them on twitter. If they come back it will mean war.

Giggles did find this twitter account though which is worth a quick read. I would love to know who started it.

RLM say there is sportscar racing every weekend in August.

ALMS have races on the next two weekends which doesn't make a lot of sense.

Mid Ohio next weekend and Elkhart Lake the following weekend. Both are really good tracks.

The weekend after that is the LMS race at the Nürburgring then the last weekend in August it is ALMS again at Mosport in Canada.

I wonder who dreamt up the ALMS schedule?

    FRANCK NEWS

According to Radio Le Mans Peugeot will enter two cars for the Petit Le Mans on September 26th and Laguna Seca on October 10th.

It has been pretty quiet tonight. I will try again tomorrow. If we plug the the wiki page when it is ready I am sure i will be able to volunteer someone. One of the advantages of the date change is that Gavin and Giggles are back and Gavin will do a live show and all Giggles stuff so far is pre-records.

Once people know what th show is about and it means very little effort from them they will get behind it. We don't need them to take pictures etc because there will be pictures on th net we can use.

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 00:33

That's a good start Nikki. If wee keep plugging it over the next few days people will start to buy into it. We need to keep a list on that page of people who intend to leave voicemails and those who have done. Then when the show happens it will just be a case of linking them.

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 02:05

Seems like it. It just became a Sydney - Melbourne argument yesterday though. ;)

I saw that. At least we know the Aussies and adopted Aussies will sign up to defend their cities and I am sure the English won't be prepared to sit back and let the Aussies claim to have done a better job than them.

That should get a few responses.

  • Nikki02/08/2009 at 02:07

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 02:08

There are loads of people on the map who don't comment so it would be worth asking Christine to mention this show in the next podcast which will be next Sunday I assume so that they can contribute. Failing that it can be included in one of the daily posts once they stop being automated.

Gavin and Amy will probably fill half the show. He was born in England moved to New Zealand then to Denmark and Amy is from New Zealand lives in Melbourne and wants to be Finnish.

Excellent! I lived in Japan for four years and did an audio climb up Mt Fuji for our local radio show. I've emailed them for a copy in hopes of using it again.

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 02:10

    Yes.

It would be worth modifying the wiki page to ask people to log their name and place and whether they have left a voicemail orr not.

The voicemail should be left at 0121 28 87225 if they are in the UK or +44 121 28 87225 if they are not or on Skype at sidepodcast.

I actually climbed Mt. Fuji. Twice. Which illustrates the Japanese truism that "a wise person climbs Mt. Fuji once; a fool climbs it more than that."

Every time I see it the top is obscured by clouds. Was it a difficult climb because I was under the impression that it was very high. Which seems an odd thing to say about a mountain.

The best time to climb is overnight. There's not much to see on the way up, the weather tends to be better, and the sunrise from the top is phenomenal. It's not a hard climb if you're in shape, but the air does get a little thin at the top. I made myself sick the first time climbing the last leg too fast to make it in time for the sunrise. It's a tough slog, though, on the way down -- especially on no sleep.

Make sure you contribute to the travel show, because all I know about Scotland is what Outlander novels have told me. Though they're very well researched. :)

I'm off for a bite of dinner now. Isn't if awfully late for you (or early)?

Well, it started with a very big headache (my fault ;) ), but I guess it's improved since then. What's Saturday like, I don't remember much of it. ;)

they sure are, and I'm in the fan club so get pre-sale tickets :D When they last toured in 2006 they cancelled their NZ dates because the stadium wasn't finished being built and I was so gutted. I've been wanting to see them for more than 10 years!

I never listened to Pearl Jam until I went to the Canadian GP and this cover band played some of their songs, they were great. So I have a few PJ songs on my ipod for running.

Very nice :) They are only doing one show here in a massive football stadium rather than doing a few shows at the smaller tennis stadium, so I think the atmosphere could be quite good. Now to find someone who wants to come with me and my awesome tickets :D

    Here is my souvlaki

Then we went to an Italian desert place and I got a Pistachio Mignon. The inside was custard, which looked like this, and it was amazing. I also got some nutella cheesecake that I'm going to eat later because right now I'm rather full.

the CBD is the city :) Wiki tells me this term is not really used in the UK. The things you learn.

  • Scott Woodwiss02/08/2009 at 08:13

Just been round the paddock taking pics and there was a remote control carbeacing stand where I heard something truely hilarious, the announcer there saying: "There is a prize up for grabs in this race, the greatest prize ever in the history of racing - a packet of mini Smarties" :D

Now in our Esses seats watching the first Porsche race, first race of the day. Weather is perfect.

officially short for Central Business District, but as Amy has explained, the colloquialism is 'the city', as in 'not the outer suburbs'.

ah we use the city for the city. We really should use something else in London because the city doesn't mean the city it means "The City". Which can cause confusion ;)

I work in The City, but you would go out in the city, which is really called West End. But the West End is in the center not the west.

London's names got a bit confused because it grew a lot more than was expected.

the thing about London is... You are never far from food. Practically every pub does food. And there are pubs everywhere.

I am going for a run. If you don't hear from me again tonight, it's true what they say. Exercise is dangerous.

  • Scott Woodwiss02/08/2009 at 10:04

Have been around the paddock again, this time on my own. Had a chat with a pretty promotions girl at the big VXR stand, set the fastest lap of the day so far on the RC car stand, bought a couple of print drawings and spotted Plato, Neal and Adam Jones. Also got Colin Turkington's autograph. Now back sat at the Esses waiting for the first BTCC race. Come on you Chevys! :D

  • Scott Woodwiss02/08/2009 at 10:19

Wow. Esses, first lap, Plato shoves Turkington off, then Andrew Jordan hits Plato, he gets very sideways and holds it! Unbelieveable! :D

  • Scott Woodwiss02/08/2009 at 10:25

Only about 5 laps gone and 2 of the 3 RML chevrolets are out. Boo.

Anything exciting happening? Just started part one of Giggles radio

i'm printing out more photos to stick all over my wall in my room (i have a wall covered in photos in my room and am adding to that atm) nothing else exciting happening (other than giggles radio) for me :)

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 14:21

It was super quiet here and I was scared everyone had gone and not told me and now everyone is turning up at once, just as I am about to go to bed.

It was so quiet here last nght too. I think it is because Gavin and Giggles are not here to stir things up at the same time the management is on hiatus

  • RG02/08/2009 at 14:21

Hello, I'm here. I've been here all along but thought I'd pop in to make Amy more paranoid.

  • lou02/08/2009 at 14:21

As if all of the radio wasn't enough there are some videos of the pigs and chickens I found on the drop.io. Plus some pictures of the pork pies and cream teas we ate. Plus some very silly pictures of me with my head through a board!

    Ahem ;)

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 14:48

Why is he watching the swimming? Should he not be swimming the swimming?

  • Amy02/08/2009 at 14:49

apparently there was a triathlon yesterday as well.

  • Alex Andronov02/08/2009 at 14:49

but you might get Chris to punch his father ;)

  • Amy02/08/2009 at 14:49

    yes.

I knew if anyone would know from a profile shot, it would be you :D

  • lou02/08/2009 at 14:52

Why is he watching the swimming? Should he not be swimming the swimming?

he was doing an early race i think... from what i gather there are lots of different start times depending on which class they enter. Jenson did an early morning race i believe...

  • lou02/08/2009 at 14:52

I knew if anyone would know from a profile shot, it would be you :D

    well... erm... :D

  • lou02/08/2009 at 14:52

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 17:05

    Hi Jackie.

It's a bit like the Marie Celeste round here today.

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 17:06

It's a bit like the Marie Celeste round here today.

So I see, but our place is very quiet too

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 17:06

It's a bit like the Marie Celeste round here today.

Still I see Mr and Mrs C have been making the odd comment :)

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 17:07

So I see, but our place is very quiet too

May be holidays combined with the F1 break and no news whatever. I have been trawlling the news sites trying to find something for people to discuss and there is nothing

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 17:08

At least we can make up our own fun .. we don't need mickey mouse stories

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 17:09

Still I see Mr and Mrs C have been making the odd comment :)

I wish I could remember who but someone made a brilliant comment on that subject yesterday. They said that they put the Hi in hiatus. They certainly seem a bit happier than they were. I am sure things will be back to normal soon.

Last night Mr C said that Giggles Made-up Media will return so that is a good sign

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 17:10

Last night Mr C said that Giggles Made-up Media will return so that is a good sign

Cool. Yeah I guess it's also dinner time

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 17:11

Rallying looks fun .. may see about going to the British event

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 17:12

Since things are quiet I should post a couple of sidepodradio plugs.

Nikki came up with a great idea for a show last night. We have people all over the world so it would be interesting if people left a voicemail about their part of the world and Nikki and a volunteer she is looking for can link them together for the show.

Details at http://wiki.sidepodcast.com/page/Travels+in+Sidepodland Feel free to say anything you like about your part of the world that deserves a mention or if you have spent time in another part of the world mention that. Nikki said she spent 4 years in Japan so she is doing that as well as here part of Canada

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 17:14

Rallying looks fun .. may see about going to the British event

Get out in a forest and see it. It really is great fun. There are not as many competitive cars as there used to be but on the GB rally there will be 100 ish cars. The atmosphere is great

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 17:14

Blimey, I can't think what's exciting about the Midlands  .. sorry to any native Brummies

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 17:15

Blimey, I can't think what's exciting about the Midlands  .. sorry to any native Brummies

There must be some landmark or restaurant or zoo or anything. The voicemails are mostly going to be about a minute long I would think.

I have also suggested that after sidepodradio day we create a wiki page then in future people can add their bit.

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 17:17

Second sidepodradio plug. Startledbunny is offering to help anyone who needs it with editing etc. If you need help then you can find him at http://wiki.sidepodcast.com/thread/3134454/Help

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 17:17

I suppose there must. I'm not a fan of the area though

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 17:17

I thought there may be a few people around just now looking for a live show but apparently not.

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 17:18

I suppose there must. I'm not a fan of the area though

If there is somewhere else you have spent some time you could do that.

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 17:18

Maybe the uninviting (sorry Christine) front page makes them think it's not worth hanging about?

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 17:20

Maybe the uninviting (sorry Christine) front page makes them think it's not worth hanging about?

I never use the front page now. I just assumed that some people would turn up out of habit. I guess they all realised there was no show.

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 17:21

If anyone is lurking, Steven and I don't bite .. come join us

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 17:22

Maybe the uninviting (sorry Christine) front page makes them think it's not worth hanging about?

I know Christine has asked Mr C to modify the front page. Franck turned up and couldn't find her e-mail addres on it and she is not prepared to risk that happening again

  • Bassano Clapper02/08/2009 at 17:23

If anyone is lurking, Steven and I don't bite .. come join us

There are always lurkers but some people don't like commenting. Those who have popped in for one or two comments tend to keep commenting.

We have had a few de-lurk this week to say nice things about the site and the management so I am sure we wil get a few more of those. They are always appreciated. No doubt we will get a few over the next couple of days asking why their podcast never showed up

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 17:24

am currently lurking, just cause i'm 1/2 way through making a huge photo collage on one of my walls in my room :D

Hey Lou, did you go to Londonium to see Jens?

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 17:25

Really, not I heart Franck, Franck?

Yes. He found iheartfranck.com then followed the link here. He eventually found the wiki and joined up then sent Christine a message.

Why am I totally shocked you are here. Oh wait. I am not shocked

  • Amy02/08/2009 at 17:27

Have you tried working the night shift?

oddly enough I don't like the late shift at work because if I do it I sleep til lunchtime then go to work, then come home and go to bed and thus see none of the day. I actually like the early shifts because I like finishing early. Although I do normally come home and have a nap :D

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 17:27

    Hi RG

    Welcome to sidepodcast

I am reading about conspiracy theories that I don't believe, trying to work out why anyone would be stupid enough to believe things that have been debunked by science.

I went to slimline the business. Basically, if I get a business card, I don't have to change it every thirty seconds.

People rarely use logical thought. Most people will believe the first version of something they hear.

  • lou02/08/2009 at 17:40

someone just sent me a link to an article by the daily mail online, where they refer to Jenson as 'Benson' alot... :s !!!

  • lou02/08/2009 at 17:44

Video of jenson after the traihtlon on BBC if it hasn't been posted

    i ♥ that video :)

    not that that's a surprise...

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 17:45

The video was great, thanks Lukeh

For someone who is thirsty he sure talks a lot

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 17:55

    Thanks Steven

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 17:57

    Thanks Steven

I enjoyed it but I have a safety fixation so anything like this apeals to me. It's amazing in the earliest times covered that more drives die than were injured. That was new to me

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 18:06

I'm still watching Dave .. now they are on big motorsports crashes. wow

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:07

I'm still watching Dave .. now they are on big motorsports crashes. wow

I have never had much interest in those sort of things. I have seen a few videos and programs on them but it doesn't do anything for me.

    Monster trucks?

  • Christine02/08/2009 at 18:11

    Wotcha been up to?

Today we went to a safari park and then for dinner.

I was upset at the lack of pandas, but Mr C says that would be a funny sort of safari.

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:11

Who knew taking a weekend off was so exhausting?

    What are you exhausted with?

Did you get my comment on your last iheartfranck post?

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:12

Safari is African. Not many pandas in Africa

    I did. More Franckage :)

That's what he said! They did have an Asian bit though, but it was just full of deer type things with horns.

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:14

    I did. More Franckage :)

Franck at Laguna Seca should be interesting. I hope Audi confirm for both races or the Peugeots will just disappear into the distance

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:15

That's what he said! They did have an Asian bit though, but it was just full of deer type things with horns.

What kind of person would choose deer type things with horns over pandas? Don't they want people to go?

  • Christine02/08/2009 at 18:20

What kind of person would choose deer type things with horns over pandas? Don't they want people to go?

I know. On the way home we discussed the idea of Sidepodsafaripark, which would have added panda, penguin and polar bear. It really would be an odd type of safari.

Also, I seem to like animals that begin with P.

  • Scott Woodwiss02/08/2009 at 18:22

Hey all, just got online on iPhone since my laptop charging cable is still not working at the moment. Have had an awesome day at Snetterton. :D

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 18:22

New game, how many animals can you think of starting with the letter P?

    Peacock, Parrot,

I know. On the way home we discussed the idea of Sidepodsafaripark, which would have added panda, penguin and polar bear. It really would be an odd type of safari.

The good thing is those are all animals people go to see and you have none of the hangers on like deer and antelopes and the like.

Also, I seem to like animals that begin with P.

You need a lion or tiger type thing as well. Got it. Pumas.

I reckon three more kinds of animal and you are more or less ready to open.

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 18:24

    Pterodactyl

    Trust Lukeh :D

  • Christine02/08/2009 at 18:24

    Pilotfish.

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:26

    Poodle?

You can't put poodles in a sidepodsafari park. Who is going to drive miles to see wild poodles?

  • me02/08/2009 at 18:26

    paper tiger?

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 18:26

    Haha

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:26

    Pilotfish.

    Is that real?

    Puff adder

  • Bassano Clapper02/08/2009 at 18:26

You can't put poodles in a sidepodsafari park. Who is going to drive miles to see wild poodles?

    Depends how wild they are

    Puff adder

    Puffer fish!!! I love them!

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:27

    paper tiger?

Well there are all those teams who Max said were going to enter F1 and they have nothing better to do now

  • Bassano Clapper02/08/2009 at 18:27

    Polar bear

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:28

    Puffer fish!!! I love them!

That was what I meant to type but somehow the snake popped up and the fish was gone

  • Jackie / saltire02/08/2009 at 18:28

  • me02/08/2009 at 18:29

After a few tequilas, who knows

    you'd waste a tequila on a poodle?

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:29

    Porcupines, Porpoise & Possums

Porpoises would be good. A nice aquarium with live shows would be good for business

  • Bassano Clapper02/08/2009 at 18:30

    you'd waste a tequila on a poodle?

It's not good for anything else, unless I've been poisoned and need to empty my stomach

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:30

    Portugese man of war

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:31

Maybe you could give two poodles tequila and have them fight

  • Bassano Clapper02/08/2009 at 18:31

Praying Mantis are a bit freaky, not sure I'd want one of them staring at me from my windscreen

  • Bassano Clapper02/08/2009 at 18:32

Maybe you could give two poodles tequila and have them fight

Not entirely sure that's legal but...

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:32

    Ptarmigan - pretty boring though

  • Christine02/08/2009 at 18:32

Maybe you could give two poodles tequila and have them fight

We saw two giraffes fighting. Their necks were bizarrely bendy.

  • Scott Woodwiss02/08/2009 at 18:32

Laptop charging cable is somehow working again! :D

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:32

Not entirely sure that's legal but...

You suggested giving them tequila in the first place

  • Bassano Clapper02/08/2009 at 18:33

We saw two giraffes fighting. Their necks were bizarrely bendy.

Another fact that may turn out to be a falacy.

Giraffes, suposedly, have the same amount of vetabrae in their necks as humans

I have no proof to back this up, am pretty sure I didn't read it from GMM though

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:34

We saw two giraffes fighting. Their necks were bizarrely bendy.

The males do that. Very odd. You have to wonder after millions of years of evolution an animal exists whose main weapon is its neck.

  • Bassano Clapper02/08/2009 at 18:34

The males do that. Very odd. You have to wonder after millions of years of evolution an animal exists whose main weapon is its neck.

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 18:35

Giraffes, suposedly, have the same amount of vetabrae in their necks as humans

Channel 4 did that on one of their animal autopsy things a couple of weeks ago. Huge long bones but exactly the same number as us.

there is an article in keith's site about piquet being dropped, but nowhere else, not even autosport. I guess is (unmentionable news agency) at this point

Journeyer said he had seen something last night but when we went looking for it we could not even find a gmm story.

  • Lukeh02/08/2009 at 18:58

    Top Gear time.

  • guille230602/08/2009 at 18:59

Journeyer said he had seen something last night but when we went looking for it we could not even find a gmm story.

Piquet says nothing on twitter also ;-)

I wouldn't be surprised by him being dropped (or even not being dropped), but yeah, at this point I'll consider it a rumour

  • Lukeh02/08/2009 at 19:00

Last Top Gear of the series already?

  • Jon Waldock02/08/2009 at 19:02

Yes so I guess the Debrief goes back to 7pm now

We are coming to this conclusion.

  • lou02/08/2009 at 19:09

you need to go to Berlin Zoo!

what about london zoo? surely they have pandas in london zoo?

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 19:10

there are no pandas in London :(

otherwise honestly I would have live broadcast from there.

  • Alex Andronov02/08/2009 at 19:13

    it's very upsetting :(

  • me02/08/2009 at 19:13

Edinburgh Zoo is supposed to be getting two pandas next year

    we were discussing that too.

i think berlin must have the closest panda until edinburgh gets one, but we believe it's a failing of google maps, that you cannot put in your location and get directions to the nearest panda.

  • guille230602/08/2009 at 19:15

i think berlin must have the closest panda until edinburgh gets one, but we believe it's a failing of google maps, that you cannot put in your location and get directions to the nearest panda.

something like pandafinder.google.com, perhaps in a handy iPhone application

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 19:15

No wonder Microsoft think it is wort getting involved with Yahoo

Mr C - get on that now please.

Edinburgh Zoo info on pandas. I say info loosely

He is just going to say the nearest panda is on the doohickey

  • guille230602/08/2009 at 19:17

Mr C - get on that now please.

oh no, what I've done... :-)

  • Christine02/08/2009 at 19:19

Not particularly interesting, but we have written a blog post: http://www.sidepodcast.com/2009/08/02/the-future-of-sidepodcast/

In more important news, the next Giggles show is coming very shortly.

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 19:19

If you watch Hammond's hair over the last three series you can see a trend. He is going to end up with the full Tina Turner in two years.

  • Lukeh02/08/2009 at 19:41

    Yay the cool wall :)

  • Scott Woodwiss02/08/2009 at 19:58

Wow, this final piece is just...wow.

  • Scott Woodwiss02/08/2009 at 20:00

...and the song's called "An Ending" by Brian Eno, by the way.

  • Scott Woodwiss02/08/2009 at 20:01

Now that's how you end a series.

  • Jon Waldock02/08/2009 at 20:02

Wow, this final piece is just...wow.

    that was quite spectacular

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 20:03

Now that's how you end a series.

a cheap political point is a great way to end a series? Half the show was a Volkswagen advert then that.

  • Journeyer02/08/2009 at 20:03

    that was quite spectacular

indeed. it did end a bit out of nowhere, tho. :O

  • Jon Waldock02/08/2009 at 20:04

It dosent matter what it was for, it was just awesome

  • Scott Woodwiss02/08/2009 at 20:07

It dosent matter what it was for, it was just awesome

Don't know why but I've a feeling it meant something other than what Jeremy was saying. Like, for some strange reason Top Gear wasn't going to be made any more and they wanted to go out with something memorable and meaningful. Probably just me on that one

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 20:07

It dosent matter what it was for, it was just awesome

It's the BBC. That program should be the subject of an enquiry. all that advertising for VW then that at peak time on the BBC.

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 20:08

Don't know why but I've a feeling it meant something other than what Jeremy was saying. Like, for some strange reason Top Gear wasn't going to be made any more and they wanted to go out with something memorable and meaningful. Probably just me on that one

Well Lewis was supposed to do a lap this week for the next series, so it definitely wasn;t the end.

  • Journeyer02/08/2009 at 20:08

It's the BBC. That program should be the subject of an enquiry. all that advertising for VW then that at peak time on the BBC.

That was rather sneaky, wasn't it? They might get a slap on the wrist, but probably nothing more.

  • Jon Waldock02/08/2009 at 20:09

It's the BBC. That program should be the subject of an enquiry. all that advertising for VW then that at peak time on the BBC.

It dosent really matter to me, it was great tv.

Only thing i cared about (from their pov) is that they had swearing before 9pm, they'll be picked up for that.

In the board room when James was showing his advert the guy said it was (swear)

Ohhh. It was different. Hmmm. Must've missed that. Yeah, they'll get picked up for that.

Fair enough, but you'd recognise the time difference travelling between them if you were in a car ;)

So what did your mum get you to do this afternoon that you wouldn't have been able to do if you were in London?

  • Andy Taylor02/08/2009 at 21:31

Meant to watch that actually... hope it is on there...

  • lou02/08/2009 at 21:32

So what did your mum get you to do this afternoon that you wouldn't have been able to do if you were in London?

erm... nothing much, i cleaned my room, and continued with my large photo collage on my wall... but she wants me to do loads of work this week :(

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 21:32

My turn to be annoyed - "Man on Wire" on after Top Gear and I didn't know.

Just watched most of it. I had never heard of it or his little stroll. Great program though

  • Andy Taylor02/08/2009 at 21:32

    iPlayer?

    unlikely as it's a film.

  • Lukeh02/08/2009 at 21:33

    unlikely as it's a film.

Evening all. Holiday is going great, played water polo, football and shot an air pistol today. Won a cocktail for the missus and had a romantic dinner. Holiday is ace so far! Goodnight!

  • Alison02/08/2009 at 21:54

Woooo! I'm off cycling on Tuesday with my bf. We're carrying camping gear on our bikes. It's gonna be pretty hardcore :(

  • Lukeh02/08/2009 at 21:54

I have a strange question for SPC... but you shall see...

Does anyone know if there's a name for those red and yellow childrens buggy-car things? Like.. the ones you can sit in when you're a child, they always seem to be red and yellow... I realise the explanantion is horrific but surely someone knows what I mean? Tis finding impossible to find a picture of something so prominent...

Massa is doing his first interview since his accident tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what h says but I guess it will be the usual thanks to everyone.

  • Lukeh02/08/2009 at 22:13

I think everyone will have to keep an eye on this flying off the shelves this winter.

Whether that be from people buying them or them just going off the shelves in various fashions is another question.

  • Andy Taylor02/08/2009 at 22:14

I think everyone will have to keep an eye on this flying off the shelves this winter.

That's great. Our youngest (at the time of writing) would love that.

  • Pat W02/08/2009 at 22:15

There is also the final LMS round at Silverstone on September 13th

I was thinking of going but it clashes with F1 at Monza. Until recently this was a bad thing, but I'm thinking the latter might turn into the old annual lovefest for a certain unnamed person so perhaps I wouldn't mind so much if I recorded and watched later...

  • Sean Golding02/08/2009 at 22:15

  • Pat W02/08/2009 at 22:18

I think the words you're searching for are "Get well soon Felipe"?

I doubt the docs will let him race as soon as that.

  • Chris02/08/2009 at 22:19

I doubt the docs will let him race as soon as that.

I honestly think he'll be back by Singapore (near enough 2 months from his accident)

  • lou02/08/2009 at 22:21

I doubt the docs will let him race as soon as that.

we'll probably get some more information tomorrow when Felipe gives his interview! :) (i'm very happy about him coming out tomorrow!)

  • Jon Waldock02/08/2009 at 22:22

we'll probably get some more information tomorrow when Felipe gives his interview! :) (i'm very happy about him coming out tomorrow!)

he's coming out? has he told his mum?

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 22:22

I honestly think he'll be back by Singapore (near enough 2 months from his accident)

He has two skull fractures and an injury to the frontal lobe of his brain. Much as I am desperate to see him get back in his car I ould be surprised if he raced again this season.

  • Lukeh02/08/2009 at 22:22

he's coming out? has he told his mum?

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 22:25

we'll probably get some more information tomorrow when Felipe gives his interview! :) (i'm very happy about him coming out tomorrow!)

I think all he will say is thanks to the circuit, the hospital, his team and the fans who have sent stuff. I would be amazed if we got the slightest indication of when he will be back.

The one thing that is certain is he will want to get back in the car this season so that he doesn't spend the winter answering inane questions about how confident he is that he will still want to race and still be capable.

  • Alison02/08/2009 at 22:26

Do you think he's worried about Fernando running off with his race seat?

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 22:28

Do you think he's worried about Fernando running off with his race seat?

No. Both Ferrari drivers have contracts for next year and there is no way Alonso would be allowed near a Ferrari without a 2010 contract.

  • Jon Waldock02/08/2009 at 22:28

Contracts mean nothing in F1, you know that

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 22:30

    Mark-webber-esq

    Exactly.

I remember when Niki Lauda signed for McLaren after 3 years away. From the day it was announced until the first race he was bombarded with questions about whether or not he would be th same driver after his near fatal accident and he had won a championship the year after that accident.

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 22:31

Contracts mean nothing in F1, you know that

I am confident that the Ferrari drivers won't change next season just as I would confident a year ago.

    I suppose Giggles "fixed this"?

  • Lukeh02/08/2009 at 22:49

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_Sword

Yep. Thats the one. it's just an old series of games like Alison says that were just immense. I grew up playing these games, Point and Click adventures, (Broken Sword, Monkey island, Grim Fandango, sam and max, beneath a steel sky) and always makes me smile when someone mentions them because noone seemed to play them despite how hilariously brilliant they were. :)

Ahh I miss point and click games.

  • Steven Roy02/08/2009 at 22:50

    I suppose Giggles "fixed this"?

He is on holiday so he had sent his shoes in ahead of time and they were so good the management decided to put them ups as a sort of compensation for sidepodradio being postponed

Away from Telltale, the first broken sword game (which I'm assuming is what Alison just found) was recently remade for the DS. Fantastic port as well because it suits the Ds wonderfully :D

i don't tend to get that many moths in my room cause i close my windows/ close the curtains before i turn the light on... we get loads of butterflies in our house though :D

They what?? Oh my word.... Don't tell me things like this. I'll waste even more of my life doing pointless things like this. I'm sure my 12 year old self that could play this game was much smarter than I am now because I got very stuck very quickly :(
