Happy Monaco Grand Prix day!! Hello to you all! I’m every so excited, there is nothing better than sitting down on a fabulous Sunday to watch our most famous race. Everyone loves Monaco right?

Moving onto some news, I’m sure you’ll all be relieved after watching yesterday’s qualifying Sergio is okay;

Thanks for your support!! In this moment thanks God all ok .. Can't race tomorrow :( but c u back in Montreal :)

After horrific accidents knowing the driver is okay and safe from serious injury really is an example of how much safety in f1 has improved. Go F1! While Checo is okay, and safety is much better, Button has stated that there is still room for safety to improve out on track.

You can find a summary of qualifying positions for todays race here.

I’ll finish the F1 news with a brilliant shot from the lovely Andy Hone.

From my favourite sport to my second favourite sport, the French Open at Roland Garros is in full swing. Yesterday, despite an ankle injury , Andy Murray beat Berrer in straight sets. Yaaaayyy Andy! Oh and in more good news Novak won too, meaning that he secured 41 consecutive match wins. That’s pretty damn impressive!

If, like me, you’re excited about the amount of tennis that’s being shown on normal tv recently (certainly makes a change from finding bad quality streams on the internet), you can check out today’s schedule here, which include’s Amy’s favourite Federer! How on earth are we meant to fit in all of this exciting sport?

Did you all see Dr Who last night?.. no? Don’t worry it was very confusing. Once you’ve all picked your jaw up off of the floor catch up with Christine’s and Lukeh’s reviews of the episode.

oh but don’t worry,

Doctor Who: that WASN'T the finale - on again next week.

Now for some arty and creative links;

I love sushi, am sure you all do too, right? Well how cute are these!!!

Could you swim with loads of jelly fish? I’m not sure I could, but you could get some great video results if you do though.

Do you all remember the wonderful work of Slinkachu?

I’ve mentioned him a few times before, well there is a new artist who works with a similar theme. His work is also very cute.

We all love a bit of long exposure photography, well this is the first time I’ve seen it used to capture planes. Pretty cool.

I’m also very fond of double exposures when used well in photography, this is an example of when it’s used effectively.

Lastly some pieces of work that are guaranteed to get your creative juices flowing, what a great idea!

I think I want some of this furniture in my house, I’ve always loved being by the beach, and this brings the beach to my house! Perfect!

Okay, I think that’s enough for you all to be looking at on this busy Sunday. I hope you have a lovely day and enjoy the race (remember to tune into the comments! )

I’ll see you in the comments!

"Doctor Who: that WASN'T the finale - on again next week."

that's what I thought, why has everyone been saying different?

  • lou28/05/2011 at 23:20

that's what I thought, why has everyone been saying different?

i don't know.. i was very confused. usually they say 'returns in the autumn' or something don't they when it's the last one?

  • Alianora La Canta28/05/2011 at 23:21

that's what I thought, why has everyone been saying different?

Because every report I'd read on it up to this point (including in the TV listings ever since the new series started) said yesterday was the last one until autumn.

  • Bert28/05/2011 at 23:21

"I disagree. I would like to know if a driver was in a favourable condition tonight after a serious shunt. It's not about celebrity or a life or death scenario

Is there a recent official press release on his current condition, assuring his fans of his recovery?"

Of the news that has come out is there anything that says that he is not in a favourable condition?

I am more than comfortable with "all is well". If the situation changes we will let you know. Don't call us, we'll call you.

  • Lukeh28/05/2011 at 23:22

Woooooooah at the long exposure aeroplanes thingy. How very pretty/slightly surreal... also very much intruiged by the idea of sketch within a photo too. Might try something like that for my blog just to give it a go, fascinating idea.

  • Leigh O'Gorman28/05/2011 at 23:22

Because every report I'd read on it up to this point (including in the TV listings ever since the new series started) said yesterday was the last one until autumn.

Next week is the last story of the first half of the season - the break is to end on a cliffhanger until September

  • Mav28/05/2011 at 23:22

i don't know.. i was very confused. usually they say 'returns in the autumn' or something don't they when it's the last one?

i thought the "you can see a preview of next week's episode online" was a dead giveaway

  • lou28/05/2011 at 23:23

    ohhh well thats annoying.

I kept seeing places saying it was the finale of this half of the series, and at he end of the episode it said to be continued, hence why it was such a shock when people said there was one left!

    Very confusing :)

  • Leigh O'Gorman28/05/2011 at 23:23

    ohhh well thats annoying.

Yep, but that was always the plan. Star Trek did every year for nearly their entire run from 1989 onward

  • Mav28/05/2011 at 23:25

    Very confusing :)

confusing? only way it could get more confusing is if Amy wakes up in Holby City hospital next Saturday

  • Alianora La Canta28/05/2011 at 23:27

i thought the "you can see a preview of next week's episode online" was a dead giveaway

It took a lot of finding to get that clue (which considering I was watching yesterday's episode on a different computer suggests this obsolete-computer-lurgy-thingy is catching - or that the operator needs replacing).

  • Leigh O'Gorman28/05/2011 at 23:32

    Thoughts:

Are Toro Rosso and Force India beginning to really fall behind the established midpack, or is this just Monaco form splitting the field unlike other circuits?

  • Alison28/05/2011 at 23:33

Oh dear Perez. Ouch ouch ouch!

  • Mav28/05/2011 at 23:34

Are Toro Rosso and Force India beginning to really fall behind the established midpack, or is this just Monaco form splitting the field unlike other circuits?

thought force india already was, toro rosso less so

toro rosso and renault are probably having a monaco hangover

  • Steven Roy28/05/2011 at 23:34

Oh dear Perez. Ouch ouch ouch!

Easy to see you were an apprentice doctor

  • Alianora La Canta28/05/2011 at 23:34

Are Toro Rosso and Force India beginning to really fall behind the established midpack, or is this just Monaco form splitting the field unlike other circuits?

Force India decided to split its upgrade into about 4 pieces last I heard, so instead of getting 1 second's improvement in one go, it's getting 0.25 seconds per race. At the moment that's barely letting it keep up with the position it had fallen to by Spain (where the first part was tested but not used). Can't explain Toro Rosso.

  • Alison28/05/2011 at 23:34

Easy to see you were an apprentice doctor

    That's real technical knowledge there.

  • Alianora La Canta28/05/2011 at 23:36

Easy to see you were an apprentice doctor

The empathy technique: a medical profession speciality :)

Though, for all that it is good we will get to see Sergio again in Canada, "ouch ouch ouch" is probably very accurate.

Very odd line to come through the tunnel - was there a cause or driver error? Good thing though - even five years ago, that would have been worse.

  • Leigh O'Gorman28/05/2011 at 23:51

    Is Bassano still here?

There was apparently no breakage on the car

  • Alianora La Canta28/05/2011 at 23:53

I think he went to bed.

  • Bert28/05/2011 at 23:55

There was apparently no breakage on the car

To me it appeared to be a simple case of being off line, in the dirty stuff and on an unforgiving, bumpy track.

  • Leigh O'Gorman28/05/2011 at 23:56

Something I forgot to add earlier on, regarding the sheets over Perez's accident.

When Senna crashed at Imola, RTL helicopter camera's hung lung overhead for the duration of Senna getting worked on, broadcasting in quite graphic detail what the Doctor' were doing but also showing some of the injuries and blood in the gravel trap.

RTL got ripped apart because of that coverage (BBC director's went directly to pit lane camera while Murray talked with Jonathan Palmer) and practices for TV direction were changed thereafter.

Following that, they started to reconsider treatment practices, which is also why there are no or few overhead shots of an injured person in an accident.

  • Leigh O'Gorman28/05/2011 at 23:57

    Just something I remembered...

  • Bert29/05/2011 at 00:04

Following that, they started to reconsider treatment practices, which is also why there are no or few overhead shots of an injured person in an accident.

Which is what should be expected. What we saw on the international feed was quite respectful. As soon as the two trucks (pickup and ambulance) pulled up and were positioned head-to-tail it was clear that something was up. Hats off to the director for not trying to get anything more than what was available on replays or or the camera on the far side of the incident.

  • Bert29/05/2011 at 00:06

Sorry for the cross post... but I think quite pertinent.... Side-by-side of the Rosberg and Perez accidents.

http://ca.jalopnik.com/5806544/watch-rosbergs-and-perezs-monaco-grand-prix-crashes-side+by+side. Nothing new but the combined image shows how similar and how different the accidents were.

I've been busy since 8am this morning with an outstanding life coach training program. I'm so excited. We are getting great info to use right away. The techniques are awesome.

I see that Alfonso has decided to copy Kimi's style in caps and also seems to be the guy that didn't like Costa (reading between the lines of him saying they had done a good thing)...

On the way to Monaco to replace Perez!

    is he allowed?

  • Christine29/05/2011 at 10:08

    What is this? From @nabiljeffri

He's a Team Lotus driver who was racing in Malaysia yesterday, and probably won't be allowed anyway. It must be a joke or something.

  • Nick29/05/2011 at 10:09

    is he allowed?

he is 16 and racing in formula bmw ;)

I dont think they would give him a superlicence unless it came in a cereal box

  • Christine29/05/2011 at 10:10

    Morning guys! Monaco race day!

  • Pat W29/05/2011 at 10:20

Guten morgen. Feels like a novelty to be awake before Jake starts talking.. :)

Just about time for a shower and a cup of tea I think.

Looks like the FR3.5 guys went a bit crazy from the tweets I'm seeing, cutting corners on the first lap and then this happened

@Mattzel89 - I don't think I've seen anyone catch this much air in Monaco since Derek Daly 1980 http://youtu.be/I6QWhwYysyI

I think it might be a joke - he's not even going to make the driver parade if he's only just set off, which would be a €5000 fine before he'd even started ;)

  • Alianora La Canta29/05/2011 at 10:25

I guess someone talked some sense into him.

I wish McNish or Jackie Stewart or someone could just sit him down and talk to him for an hour away from the track

  • Alianora La Canta29/05/2011 at 18:27

    Mr Whitmarsh I believe...

  • Steven Roy29/05/2011 at 18:30

    Or even di Resta...

That would never work. Beside di Resta doesn't want Lewis to get calmer and more focused.

I think Button is doing the same thing for him that Gerhard Berger did for Senna. THe difference is Berger never really threatened Senna on the track so the effect is mitigated

  • Steven Roy29/05/2011 at 18:30

  • Alianora La Canta29/05/2011 at 18:33

What did berger do to senna?

Gave him another perspective. Learned from correctly, an extra perspective makes talent broader, more powerful.

  • Eric the baker29/05/2011 at 18:33

Do teams ever write a "behavior clause" into a driver's contract, so that they can independently act against a driver if he does stuff like that?

  • Alianora La Canta29/05/2011 at 18:35

Do teams ever write a "behavior clause" into a driver's contract, so that they can independently act against a driver if he does stuff like that?

Yes. Vijay Mallya's mentioned it when discussing his support of Adrian Sutil. I think every other team has the same clause.

  • Steven Roy29/05/2011 at 18:35

What did berger do to senna?

Taught him that being so serious and only thinking about racing was a weakness. He did this by filling his hotel room with frogs and lobbing his indestructable carbon fibre brief case out of a helicopter at 1500 feet to make sure that it was value for money. Senna retaliated and developed a sense of humour. THe more relaxed he became the better he became

  • Steven Roy29/05/2011 at 18:36

I think Button is doing the same thing for him that Gerhard Berger did for Senna.

Sorry I don't feel that Lewis feels Button is better than he is... but he does is rather spoilt ...

    He needs to grow up...

  • Steven Roy29/05/2011 at 18:42

Sorry I don't feel that Lewis feels Button is better than he is... but he does is rather spoilt ...

I don't think it is anything to do with better. More with developing his personality. I doubt many people think Jenson is better than Lewis.

    He needs to grow up...

Exactly. He needs to lighten up a bit and not take everything so seriously. However it is easy to see why the officials have it in for him when Charlie Whiting lied in the International Court of Appeal and was caught out by McLaren's QC who had a signed statement from Tony Scott-Andrews saying not only had he not changed his mind as Whiting said but WHiting had never phoned him as he claimed.

Hard not to have a chip on your shoulder when the race director lies to get you penalised and he still has the job and no-one in the FIA has ever challenged him on the lie.

  • Steven Roy29/05/2011 at 18:44

Agreed. But there is a thing called confirmation bias. If you're always looking to be wronged, it's pretty likely that's what you'll see. As well as ignoring as unimportant the times when you don't see it.

Isn't that all ancient history?...from quite a few years ago?..

Ancient history which in Lewis' head is probably still ongoing to some extent or other.

1:45 to go until the Nascar Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte, I think. Either way, there's a NASCAR race at 6:00 EDT, for those of you who have not had their shot of racingfor the day...

The Indy 500 lasted for what.. 3 and a bit hours. Charlotte is a slower track by nature and Cup cars are slower, so their 500 would be nearly 4 hours probably. So maybe 4hr 45m. Hard to justify on an oval.

And they are more likely to throw a few extra yellows

Agreed, but for the world crowd, the Canadian G.P. starts 2 hours or so after Le Mans finished... so if the traffic jams leaving La Sarthe are not too bad.....

  • Barrie29/05/2011 at 22:26
