Happy Monaco Grand Prix day!! Hello to you all! I’m every so excited, there is nothing better than sitting down on a fabulous Sunday to watch our most famous race. Everyone loves Monaco right?
Moving onto some news, I’m sure you’ll all be relieved after watching yesterday’s qualifying Sergio is okay;
Thanks for your support!! In this moment thanks God all ok .. Can't race tomorrow :( but c u back in Montreal :)
After horrific accidents knowing the driver is okay and safe from serious injury really is an example of how much safety in f1 has improved. Go F1! While Checo is okay, and safety is much better, Button has stated that there is still room for safety to improve out on track.
You can find a summary of qualifying positions for todays race here.
I’ll finish the F1 news with a brilliant shot from the lovely Andy Hone.
From my favourite sport to my second favourite sport, the French Open at Roland Garros is in full swing. Yesterday, despite an ankle injury , Andy Murray beat Berrer in straight sets. Yaaaayyy Andy! Oh and in more good news Novak won too, meaning that he secured 41 consecutive match wins. That’s pretty damn impressive!
If, like me, you’re excited about the amount of tennis that’s being shown on normal tv recently (certainly makes a change from finding bad quality streams on the internet), you can check out today’s schedule here, which include’s Amy’s favourite Federer! How on earth are we meant to fit in all of this exciting sport?
Did you all see Dr Who last night?.. no? Don’t worry it was very confusing. Once you’ve all picked your jaw up off of the floor catch up with Christine’s and Lukeh’s reviews of the episode.
oh but don’t worry,
Doctor Who: that WASN'T the finale - on again next week.
Now for some arty and creative links;
I love sushi, am sure you all do too, right? Well how cute are these!!!
Could you swim with loads of jelly fish? I’m not sure I could, but you could get some great video results if you do though.
Do you all remember the wonderful work of Slinkachu?
I’ve mentioned him a few times before, well there is a new artist who works with a similar theme. His work is also very cute.
We all love a bit of long exposure photography, well this is the first time I’ve seen it used to capture planes. Pretty cool.
I’m also very fond of double exposures when used well in photography, this is an example of when it’s used effectively.
Lastly some pieces of work that are guaranteed to get your creative juices flowing, what a great idea!
I think I want some of this furniture in my house, I’ve always loved being by the beach, and this brings the beach to my house! Perfect!
Okay, I think that’s enough for you all to be looking at on this busy Sunday. I hope you have a lovely day and enjoy the race (remember to tune into the comments! )
I’ll see you in the comments!
Hey Sunday.
Morning race day
Hello new daily with a lorra lorra links :)
"Doctor Who: that WASN'T the finale - on again next week."
that's what I thought, why has everyone been saying different?
i don't know.. i was very confused. usually they say 'returns in the autumn' or something don't they when it's the last one?
Because every report I'd read on it up to this point (including in the TV listings ever since the new series started) said yesterday was the last one until autumn.
Of the news that has come out is there anything that says that he is not in a favourable condition?
I am more than comfortable with "all is well". If the situation changes we will let you know. Don't call us, we'll call you.
Woooooooah at the long exposure aeroplanes thingy. How very pretty/slightly surreal... also very much intruiged by the idea of sketch within a photo too. Might try something like that for my blog just to give it a go, fascinating idea.
Next week is the last story of the first half of the season - the break is to end on a cliffhanger until September
i thought the "you can see a preview of next week's episode online" was a dead giveaway
ohhh well thats annoying.
:D
I kept seeing places saying it was the finale of this half of the series, and at he end of the episode it said to be continued, hence why it was such a shock when people said there was one left!
Very confusing :)
Yep, but that was always the plan. Star Trek did every year for nearly their entire run from 1989 onward
confusing? only way it could get more confusing is if Amy wakes up in Holby City hospital next Saturday
It took a lot of finding to get that clue (which considering I was watching yesterday's episode on a different computer suggests this obsolete-computer-lurgy-thingy is catching - or that the operator needs replacing).
Thoughts:
Are Toro Rosso and Force India beginning to really fall behind the established midpack, or is this just Monaco form splitting the field unlike other circuits?
Oh dear Perez. Ouch ouch ouch!
thought force india already was, toro rosso less so
toro rosso and renault are probably having a monaco hangover
Easy to see you were an apprentice doctor
Force India decided to split its upgrade into about 4 pieces last I heard, so instead of getting 1 second's improvement in one go, it's getting 0.25 seconds per race. At the moment that's barely letting it keep up with the position it had fallen to by Spain (where the first part was tested but not used). Can't explain Toro Rosso.
That's real technical knowledge there.
The empathy technique: a medical profession speciality :)
Though, for all that it is good we will get to see Sergio again in Canada, "ouch ouch ouch" is probably very accurate.
Dylan Moran on C4+1. I have red wine. I disappear until morning. :D
Have a good night!
Night Pat

Just saw Perez' accident - ouch !!
My awakeness is degrading at a rapid pace so I must be getting pirelli'd. I mean tyred. Well, tired. I can't even remember what the terrible joke was in the first place.
Basically, nighty night all :)
Night Lukeh
Night Lukeh
Goodnight!
It was a big one
Very odd line to come through the tunnel - was there a cause or driver error? Good thing though - even five years ago, that would have been worse.
Is Bassano still here?
There was apparently no breakage on the car
I think he went to bed.
To me it appeared to be a simple case of being off line, in the dirty stuff and on an unforgiving, bumpy track.
Something I forgot to add earlier on, regarding the sheets over Perez's accident.
When Senna crashed at Imola, RTL helicopter camera's hung lung overhead for the duration of Senna getting worked on, broadcasting in quite graphic detail what the Doctor' were doing but also showing some of the injuries and blood in the gravel trap.
RTL got ripped apart because of that coverage (BBC director's went directly to pit lane camera while Murray talked with Jonathan Palmer) and practices for TV direction were changed thereafter.
Following that, they started to reconsider treatment practices, which is also why there are no or few overhead shots of an injured person in an accident.
Just something I remembered...
Which is what should be expected. What we saw on the international feed was quite respectful. As soon as the two trucks (pickup and ambulance) pulled up and were positioned head-to-tail it was clear that something was up. Hats off to the director for not trying to get anything more than what was available on replays or or the camera on the far side of the incident.
Sorry for the cross post... but I think quite pertinent.... Side-by-side of the Rosberg and Perez accidents.
http://ca.jalopnik.com/5806544/watch-rosbergs-and-perezs-monaco-grand-prix-crashes-side+by+side. Nothing new but the combined image shows how similar and how different the accidents were.
Thanks for posting this, Bert. Great side by side comparison of 2 scary crashes. So glad Checo is okay. Really got me to see him put his hands on his head and just brace for impact. eek.
Evening Kai
Hey Leigh. How goes it?
Not too bad - just settling in to a little bit of music. Long day ahead tomorrow - how are you?
Might even go for some Doctor Who before I drop off
I've been busy since 8am this morning with an outstanding life coach training program. I'm so excited. We are getting great info to use right away. The techniques are awesome.
I just finished my homework. I'm really tired. But I got switched to a great new room in this hotel. Wish I had a smartphone to show you guys. It's perfect. They took great care of me. :)
That's 11 hours. phew.
oops, 13! I can't even do simple math anymore. :)
Nice. Finally got our boiler fixed today - first hot shower I've had in nearly a week.
:D
oh my!
Aye - I crashed at 5am last night - on the go for about 23 hours. Too many long, long days like that this week.
Finally caught up with all the practices and qualifying this evening
:)
Are you doing something you enjoy, at least? I found today was a lot, but great, too, because I loved it.
Well, most of yesterday was work, but I was able to get down to some production and music last night which was good fun
I read the posts but I have to wait to see my DVR on Monday for all the actual footage. I don't have wifi at the hotel where the training is taking place, so I couldn't check all day. I didn't have much time to, and it was probably better like that anyway. ;)
yay.
Right now, Franz Ferdinand are keeping me happy with their unsubtle indie / revivalist post=punk tones.
:)
I do love me some Franz.
4th album pencilled in for next year I believe
I'm back again. Dylan Moran on C4 was okay but far too much material about kids. #cantrelate Bit of Jools Holland after that, my he's looking old now.
Fun!
I find Dylan Moran a bit so-so at times to be honest and as for Jools, well, he's been around for quite a while
Hi Pat. My it's nice to pull up a chair and visit a bit after a long and exciting day. :) Thanks, Sidepodfamily.
Already?
*checks Winamp, sees debut was 2004*
Oh.. maybe not
What do you mean already? The last album's been out for two years
For some reason I always rated him highly based on clips and Black Books without having actually watched a whole show. Mind you this was a clip show too.
Sounds busy.
Only feels like 5 minutes since Dark of the Matinee and all that
First Strokes album is ten years old next month....
blimey
The training packs it in, very efficient.
Yep
Toots and the Maytals, anyone...?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rb13ksYO0s
:)
One of my faves! Thanks!
I love hearing the horses going by outside in the handsome cabs.
:)
Nice, wasn't familiar with that (or the style really).
Am doing a bit of random shuffle at the moment. :)
Anyone know if Digital Autosport is cheaper than Paper Autosport?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0M1JJ8fAXHo&feature=related
Toots and the Maytals, "Country Roads"
Aye - nowt much wrong with a bit of 60's ska
:)
By pure chance Franz Ferdinand just came on.
:)
Time for me to rest up. Another long day tomorrow.
Night Kai
Finished with iTunes - am now on to Friday's episode of Trackside
Have fun
Oh that's that!

Well Mr Kolles did not push his issue on rear blown diffusers did he...
Or am I just a cynic?...
Great daily Lou .... except that you didn't mention Kimi's US adventure...
It will disadvantage him to do so untill HRT can beat virgin.
If they do that today i would expect a protest
Just catching up on the early part of Monaco coverage that I missed yesterday (I was buying some very pretty sandals)....
I see that Alfonso has decided to copy Kimi's style in caps and also seems to be the guy that didn't like Costa (reading between the lines of him saying they had done a good thing)...
They have just also done the Mark Webber into swimming pool thing but didn't mention contracts.... interesting....
Hi Nick... my point being that maybe he was on some sort of promise to compete if he gave up his protest...
Funnily he dropped it between Barce and Monaco...
Yeah, i think the fact he didnt send a car out at all pointed to the fact he had something in his pocket
Ted outside Nico's garage is totally deja vu as he was lingering outside Nick Heidfeld's last week with the smell of barbequed car in the air...
He's fast becoming the "Kate Adie" of pitlane reporters... he'll be outside Sauber today...
Just turned on the porsche supercup race at monaco.
there must have been a big crash or the field spread is massive
they have big circle barrier things at the chicane where perez crashed
Lots of people at the finish, it must have been a very boring race
Heeello world! It's race day :)
How are you?
Very bored, getting some work done as the internet is asleep!
Any F1 breaking news? Moring is quite peaceful...
Ummm... the gumball 3000 rally is stopping monaco for the grand prix this year http://www.gumball3000.com/blog/monaco-f1-grand-prix-2
Morning all! Am at my aunts house and she has super fast internet!! (in reality it's probably normal but i'm just not used to a decent connection)
how are you all today?
What is this? From @nabiljeffri
On the way to Monaco to replace Perez!
http://twitter.com/#!/nabiljeffri/status/74775869566091264
is he allowed?
He's a Team Lotus driver who was racing in Malaysia yesterday, and probably won't be allowed anyway. It must be a joke or something.
he is 16 and racing in formula bmw ;)
I dont think they would give him a superlicence unless it came in a cereal box
Hehehe.
oh lol i know nothing about him (you've probably guessed) not the best joke tho.
hehehe :)
I think he got thrown out with Fauzy after last season, he isnt mentioned herehttp://www.teamlotus.co.uk/team/driver-development-program/airasia-team-lotus-driver-development-program
OOps!
Ah ha. But he definitely has zero connection to Sauber.
Morning guys! Monaco race day!
Guten morgen. Feels like a novelty to be awake before Jake starts talking.. :)
Just about time for a shower and a cup of tea I think.
Looks like the FR3.5 guys went a bit crazy from the tweets I'm seeing, cutting corners on the first lap and then this happened
@Mattzel89 - I don't think I've seen anyone catch this much air in Monaco since Derek Daly 1980 http://youtu.be/I6QWhwYysyI
I have a huge craving for a gooseberry.
I dont think they sell them here. help!
Good morning!
I think it might be a joke - he's not even going to make the driver parade if he's only just set off, which would be a €5000 fine before he'd even started ;)
Michael Schumacher's in dreamland - he's aiming for a podium...
Ping: http://sidepodcast.com/post/live-monaco-2011-the-race
Now i am even more impateient! :)
If F1 goes to sky i expect them to do at least 2 hours of monaco build up!
eeeekkk so excited!
Here is a sloth crossing a road.

Timely update from Noble:
Sergio Perez will remain in hospital for another night, and will undergo another brain scan on Monday. Recovery going well though
Pinkham is getting snarky
There appears to be lots of stunning women holding their elderly fathers hands in Monaco. Close families - how lovely.
I think she may be annoyed she didnt bring her dad along like all the other girls...
I must also protest that this race is on at the same time as the two matches I want to see at Roland Garros. Poor timing, France.
I predict a ball will bounce wither side of a net for a while at the tennis, and the cars will drive in circles at the F1 :)
Who is on today?
The schedule suggests we're up for a bit of Roger and Novak today
Roger and Novak :)
am sad you didnt read my daily :(
;)
Ha, sorry. I read it when it went up last night, impressed at how early it was. That was a long time ago now.
hehe well i was blessed to have a stable internet connection this week. stupid halls.

Looking easy enough for Djokovic then
They're so slippy slidy out on the orange stuff.
I kind of wish they were showing the girls. That doesn't often happen :)
Eurosport 3D is freaky http://post.ly/27VIM
yay match point already, maybe i will see the girls!
you say that and it goes to deuce :)
he'd totally serve it out next game anyway :D
so, now can i call lewis hamilton a petulant child...
...told ya they shoulda gone with paffett ;)
yes you can. :) lol
just disappointing, considering he had perfect poise in his first 2 seasons, and even into 2009.
Absolutely, well predicted sir ;)
42 wins in a row now for Djokovic... *claps*
i love it when i get to see my 2 fav sports in the same day :)
I like it when they hug.
Although i'm not a fan you can't help but be impressed.
i can't help but applaud him.. really awesome.
right i'm off to see my nanna :) see you all later! thanks for a great day! xx
Have fun at your nans! Byeee :)
Bye Lou!
Will watch the Indy 500 from bed. Good night, folks! :)

Hehe, I remember being grateful when there were just 3 repetitions, then just 2, all good.
Now I wish there were more :)
some of the runs you have to do on your current plan look terrifying!
Yea. I really didn't look far enough ahead :)
I'm not at all confident I'll be completing them, but I might as well give it a go. I don't have any other plans.
Christine,
Were you not planning to FBFB the Indy 500?
I considered it, but decided not to.
I guess two races one after the other is a lot to ask
I like your thinking though, I feel like if I didn't have a set idea of how far or how long I was "supposed" to be running for on any given day I just simply wouldn't run at all
I found some great shots from the last spacewalk
http://spaceflightnow.com/shuttle/sts134/110528eva4gallery/index.html
Agreed. And it would be dull to do the same thing every day.
don't forget we want your monaco voicemails: +44 121 28 87225
@noblef1 Drive through penalty for Lewis Hamilton for collision with Maldonado. 20 seconds added to elapsed time
Who cares about that? Kobi given reprimand, stays 5th, wooo-hooo-wooooooo.
hehe!
5 place grid penalty for bringing sport into disrepute?...
That makes no difference to his position as Sutil was lapped :(
just like the last race, pointless stewarding.
JJ loses, Amy sleeps :)
I have sent mine but I apologise at the end I kept saying awesome and I didn't realise how many times I said awesome so it's very much babbling on about awesome!
true but the steward can only dish out what they have available to them.
this reads more like a threat from the guy from the daily mirror:
Drive through penalty for Hamilton for Maldonaldo smash. 20 seconds added to his race time. Least of his problems right now.
Well, he's seemingly lost half of his supporters...
i kinda like him a bit more when he is grumpy rather than super corporate
dont agree with anything he said, mind.
Dulko is not so good.
Good night
Left ya a voicemail, don't care if I'm the first person to get excited over 5th place.

Did you guys get that Lewis went back to the track and apologised to the Stewards for his "outburst"?.....
Just heard. Wonder if he got the standard fine too?
I guess someone talked some sense into him.
I wish McNish or Jackie Stewart or someone could just sit him down and talk to him for an hour away from the track
Or even di Resta...
Mr Whitmarsh I believe...
That would never work. Beside di Resta doesn't want Lewis to get calmer and more focused.
I think Button is doing the same thing for him that Gerhard Berger did for Senna. THe difference is Berger never really threatened Senna on the track so the effect is mitigated
I can imagine his reaction or Ron Dennis's when they heard that interview
What did berger do to senna?
Should have known there would be a snag to that plan *clicks fingers in frustration*
Gave him another perspective. Learned from correctly, an extra perspective makes talent broader, more powerful.
Do teams ever write a "behavior clause" into a driver's contract, so that they can independently act against a driver if he does stuff like that?
Yes. Vijay Mallya's mentioned it when discussing his support of Adrian Sutil. I think every other team has the same clause.
Taught him that being so serious and only thinking about racing was a weakness. He did this by filling his hotel room with frogs and lobbing his indestructable carbon fibre brief case out of a helicopter at 1500 feet to make sure that it was value for money. Senna retaliated and developed a sense of humour. THe more relaxed he became the better he became
Oh yes
Everyone, except Hesketh.
THey had a misbehaviour clause
Sorry I don't feel that Lewis feels Button is better than he is... but he does is rather spoilt ...
He needs to grow up...
I don't think it is anything to do with better. More with developing his personality. I doubt many people think Jenson is better than Lewis.
Exactly. He needs to lighten up a bit and not take everything so seriously. However it is easy to see why the officials have it in for him when Charlie Whiting lied in the International Court of Appeal and was caught out by McLaren's QC who had a signed statement from Tony Scott-Andrews saying not only had he not changed his mind as Whiting said but WHiting had never phoned him as he claimed.
Hard not to have a chip on your shoulder when the race director lies to get you penalised and he still has the job and no-one in the FIA has ever challenged him on the lie.
Why he feels the officials have it in for him.
Typo
Isn't that all ancient history?...from quite a few years ago?..
If you were in his position and the governing body did that to you would you not be looking at every decision they made and thinking that maybe there was something more to it?
I would have made more of a fuss at the time.
I think I'd want to look at the replays of the events several times before I made inflamatory comments...
I think McLaren were just trying to avoid any more trouble with the FIA. I agree that they should have gone on the attack and forced the FIA to sack Whiting
It is easy to say that from the outside. Not so easy as a driver
I was more shocked at his attitude to his fellow drivers than anything.
Agreed. But there is a thing called confirmation bias. If you're always looking to be wronged, it's pretty likely that's what you'll see. As well as ignoring as unimportant the times when you don't see it.
hey all!
me too i've heard him blame his team before, but never that kind of attitude towards his peers..
He's got previous...
He called the backmarkers "the monkies at the back" and said Kimi had no balls...
He's a really good driver but somehow he just thinks he's entitled to do what he wants...
in fairness to lewis, he was talking about schumi, massa and pastor.
all of them have been hopeless this year :)
Hehe. True enough.
The stewards should insist he drive an HRT for a few races....
They did? I thought Hesketh had a behaviour clause ;)
That's what I meant
Ancient history which in Lewis' head is probably still ongoing to some extent or other.
Ah :D
I think his new management need to have a little word in his shell-like....
They might not have met expectations but all three drove better than Lewis today.
Agreed!
Argh, and it's pronounced "Tow-mahs" not "Taw-mus"
No GP+ yet, Joe must be on the road

what a day..........
Indeed. And I've still got stuff to look forward to because the Queen documentary starts on BBC2 in 50 minutes :)
did you all catch the end of the Indy 500? Bonkers...........
I saw the end on Twitter but I think quite a few people were watching it properly and commenting through Sidepodcast's dedicated thread.
thats just where I have come from........it has been a non-stop day today..........all excitement :D
Eeeevening :D
Hello
GP+ is out
*downloads*
there are no words... http://tinyurl.com/3fb83mo ... O.O
Just one: Earplugs :)
Afternoon.
1:45 to go until the Nascar Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte, I think. Either way, there's a NASCAR race at 6:00 EDT, for those of you who have not had their shot of racingfor the day...
gosh lets hope he's wearing some..
It would be hard to get any closer
brilliant isn't it :D
Does not matter. He's probability deaf anyway....
I forgot about that
i think this is what Thommo was talking to me about yesterday :)
It is incredible that they can get any shots at all..Imagine the speed you would need to pan at if you were that close
Pitch your tent by your TV set, then Steven, it's going to be a long night for any NASCAR fan in Europe. I remember these guys running part of the race at night here on the coast.
What an amazing pair of finishes
Not sure I can take a 3rd! Plus it would be on very late.. although it is a holiday tomorrow
oh there is no questioning how hard it must be. looks brilliant fun tho :)
I don't see how Nascar can improve on them. Good excuse not to watch
I can't imagine how long a 600 mile NASCAR race would be, if a 500 lasts over four hours
Must be five hours or so
Too long, too late. I think I will miss it
picture on page 15 is brilliant.
The Indy 500 lasted for what.. 3 and a bit hours. Charlotte is a slower track by nature and Cup cars are slower, so their 500 would be nearly 4 hours probably. So maybe 4hr 45m. Hard to justify on an oval.
And they are more likely to throw a few extra yellows
shame it isnt on sky - ESPN here :(
every time I try to watch a web feed it is so blocky and jittery :(
NASCAR lives on Premier Sports somewhere in the sports section on Sky, but you have to pay extra.
oh is it Premier now? I cant keep up - last year it was on Open Access, a freebie channel.......
Great illusion
anyone going to see the Sena film this week? or am I behind the times and am the only one not to have seen it? lol
Am going the week after
ohh i forgot about it.. gosh no idea where it's showing either. must find out so i can see it. Kinda wanted to see it in a posh london cinema on the first day it's out but may have to settle for a 'whenever i can fit it in' :)
me too - but I just cant find a listing for it..........
one of my friends in the States (Austin - and with luck I have booked her spare room for the race next year :P) has seen it and she said it was a marvellous film. and she isnt even an F1 fan! apparently she went on my recommendation and enthusiasm. stupid girl lol
I can't find one either
Enter your location in the now showing box

Nearest is Oxford, 95 miles away..
Flipping heck. Trying to watch the end of the GP. It's turned into some kind of demolition derby.
Me too, and I am right there....69 of 78
I wont spoil it then for you.............everybody shhhhhhhhhhhhh! lol
nearest to me is Hammersmith.....with a Q & A with the director after..........I am SO tempted!!! Anyone else near Hammersmith?
Hah dw. I'm well used to Monday GP watching. This is the first time all year I've got home from work to find the GP not removed from the iplayer

that was a real "mouth open" moment. nearly spilled my beer! NEARLY......!

GP. Canada
Moto GP - G.B.
World Superbike
INDY 275 - Texas
NASCAR - Pocono
Oh, and Le Mans!
I am going to need more pixels!
Highly doubt it and I don't reckon I'll be on it for long. Mainly because I've had my fill of US ads for one night.
Crazy week, no idea why so many on the same week as Le Mans.
Agreed, but for the world crowd, the Canadian G.P. starts 2 hours or so after Le Mans finished... so if the traffic jams leaving La Sarthe are not too bad.....
theres always a long weekend in October.......Bathurst 1000 and Japanese GP are usually on the same weekend..........:P
If LM wasn't the same day I would've gone to Silverstone for the MotoGP.
I had a sudden panic that I'd confused my rota and that I had to get up and go to work in the morning but... no. Thank goodness for that!

No, the Incredible Sulk is all the rage at the moment
she had a cheap ticket up on the cliff and she definitely isn't in any fan clubs.
Maybe knowing me is the simple key to pit passes this year :)

I always thought you were lovely, Amy........no matter what the others say ;) lol
first sy=tep is make sure you're going to a race
can you help me pass my driving test please? :) orrr.... find me a cheap race to go to/get to/stay near :)

This doesn't sound like the Amy way!
I'm afraid I only work a year in advance

About the word 'cheap'...
:)
I forgot that British cheap is different to normal cheap :D
even more so to the male mind, where free is cheap, then everything else is expensive :)
Hehehe British student cheap is another totally different kind of cheap!
malaysia is cheap no question, but the flights may not be :)
