Well, we have now seen our first Formula 1 action, and it was as chaotic as was expected. Actually, it was good to see so many cars out on track because we were worried that there would be little running. Boy, how wrong we were. Anyway, here is what we're talking about:

  • BMW have suggested they want the weight limits in F1 to be raised, due to their inability to fit KERS to Kubica's car. Whilst Heidfeld is able to run the device, Kub can't because he's heavier and therefore it affects the weight of the car too much. I would certainly rather see the weight limit raised than drivers crash dieting so much.
  • The news has leaked out from many sources that Richard Branson is on his way to Melbourne to announce a sponsorship deal with Brawn GP. When the news broke that he could be on course to purchase them, even the most skeptical amongst us thought the Virgin Group would make a good sponsor for the team. The question is, how will the branding go, and does it match the yellow highlighting?
  • We were lucky enough to speak to Joe Saward again last night, which was early Friday morning, Melbourne time. He went through the diffuser row, plus gave us a quick insight into his plans for the weekend. You can catch the show here.

That's all for today. There are a lot of threads flying about today, and we're not sure entirely where the daily posts fits in to the action, but at least it's here if you need it. If you do, then I will see you in the comments.

anyone for a quick game to pass the time until fp3?

I'm still wondering how we'll see the Virgin logo and color scheme implemented onto Brawns cars. I can't see the flourescent going as it's on Jenson and Rubens' helmets now but white, black, yellowy-green and red (if they include the red from Virgin)?

    Well, least they'll stand out...

Morning all, Just got to the office, missed fp1, only caught the back end of fp2. Wow, as you know I'm a massive Williams fan, but not even I could have imagined this start to the season, I know that maybe it won't last but still what a start.

I quite like the word Renault on the back of the Renaults. That seems handy to me.

  • Alex Andronov27/03/2009 at 07:59

Aha - I'm watching the morning session.

  • Aitch27/03/2009 at 08:03

Well I must say FP was a blast and I can't wait until the race. See you all at Qualifying.

  • Lukeh27/03/2009 at 08:12

I'm gonna head off myself now to go and prepare for work. I'll se you guys tonight about 7ish, have a good day!

  • Lady Snowcat27/03/2009 at 08:18

I had forgotten how spaced out you feel after two night sessions of practice....

I need to work out how to get back to sleep when my heart is racing from first practice.... it's harder than trying to get an early night!...

Piquet is looking like a rookie...still...

The diffuser three look ready to sweep up.... except I wasn't sure how long their runs were particularly during the evening slot which is more like race conditions and qualy too...

In the second practice all the top times came from running the green tyres early on...

And Macca sure weren't sand bagging were they .... and Heikki looks a tad more comfy than Lewis at present... wouldn't that be the turn up for the books...

The radio thing was interesting wasn't it although I didn't spot any Ferrari chat... maybe it got "bleeped out"....

I haven’t got one with the commentary options yet… But after Qualifying I’ll rip the file apaprt and see what I’ve got.

    Nnnnngooooood Morning everybody! :D

Hope you all enjoyed free practice while some of us chose to get some sleep instead. Although I know some of you consider sleep overrated somewhat :P

Quite interesting to see Williams topping the timesheets. Didn't quite expect them to be quickest, I thought it would be Brawn or Ferrari. Sure, I knew Williams would be up near the front but quickest?! Damn, they really are making a comeback!

As for Lewis, I have two words that I think perfectly sum up his Friday performance - Ohhhhhhhh dear.

  • Bootneck27/03/2009 at 09:22

Yeeah Oh dear indeed, but like people always say"it's easier to win a world championship than it is to retain it" so I think he know's he's got his work cut out. Probably did'nt expect wuite such an uphill battle though.

Ironic that their performance echoes the taste of Red Bull Cola

Rubbish first session aside, Webber put in a stonking lap in the evening and Vettel finished eighth. Looking at their long run times, it looks like they should be able to fight for points, especially if the other cars retire.

Part of me hope he does. Got nothing against Vettel at all, but if he does beat him that'll shut Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko up good and proper. The same bloke who recently said that Webber's career would be over if he doesn't beat the wunderkind this season and that he was past his sell-by date.

races don't happen in the morning here. most f1 races end up starting at 8 pm our time (Europe & Singapore). the other asian/australian races start at 2 pm, the middle east races start at 7 pm, and brazil starts at 2 am.

but all bar one are at sensible times. but i'd watch them, whatever the time! :)

FP3 is at 2pm but I'm going in at 11am to watch pitstop practice. If there is anything vaguely F1 related, I turn up for it.

On Sunday I will show up early just so I can watch them take the drivers "class photo"

how the flippin' heck will you be able to tell the difference?

while she's in there you ought invest in a magnifying glass and a pantone chart just to be sure someone's not taking you for a ride!

Good thinking. Allegedly this is the version of mascara that can't possibly run. Which is handy at weddings.

  • Alex Andronov27/03/2009 at 14:36

    think it may well be.

    Let's start the backlash now.

    Lewis Shame at Backmarker Status

Former rising star Lewis Hamilton STUNNED the F1 world in the small hours of the morning in the UK with a decidedly poor qualifying performance. Perhaps what he had been getting up to in the small hours of the morning back home has been affecting his performance? Friends said they were shocked by the regular visits to Nandos with his pussycat girlfriend That Woman. "he used to have a hunger to win, now he seems to have a hunger for Nandos" one pal quipped.

Others have pointed to Kovalinan's similar performance in the sister car as though that let's Lewis off the hook. But paddock insiders were yesterday saying that Heikki doing as well as Lewis was the most embarressing thing of all.

The Bun's verdict: As we've been saying all along Jeremy Button is Britain's long term hope for victory in Formula 1 and we've never deserted him. lewis is just a flash in the pan as we've always said. Jeremy is the new Senna but British.

    --- this is a joke ---

  • Alex Andronov27/03/2009 at 14:37

    sounds expensive.

Well I have a season ticket for London so this is the first train I've paid for.

Worryingly realistic. Especially from our resident literary scholar!

I am now on the final 4th train. Arriving at 15:07.

I'm not sure what that does to the cheap / expensive debate.

Just finished listening to the Joe Saward talk. He has really good point about racing into the sunlight ... I was at the brabham grandstand during the 2nd practice, more less facing the grandstand that faces the turn one. The sun was shining right into my eyes. around 5:50pm the sun got pretty annoyingly low.those drivers will be half blind tomorrow at the turn one after 6pm, I will try to upload some photo showing the long shadow cast by the cars at about that time

  • Amy27/03/2009 at 15:35

They also said the reason Kimi almost ran into Webber was because visibility coming into the pitlane was zero with the sun where it was.

When we were waiting at the paddock entrance yesterday he came out after Timo, Fernando, Kazuki and Adrian, and rather than walk around us as they all did, he walked directly through the middle of our group. And still no one paid him any attention.

  • Alex Andronov27/03/2009 at 16:42

Are you calling me a toff Jackie?

Ah yes well I didn't choose the room as we're guests of the wedding party.

But I may be a toff too!

But I think for making such a suggestion you should really take part in the sofaf1 prediction competition ;)

It is the one that is the sister paper of the Metro that I'm thinking of... Ummm... London Lite that's it.

Roughly the same thing. All the Daily mail / evening standard really. The London Paper is funnily enough just the recycled Times as it's from the Murdoch stable

    Only 4 days worth! ;)

  • Alex Andronov27/03/2009 at 17:40

So Lewis is saying something really worrying that it isn't one specific problem with the car but that it is losing grip all over the place. Doesn't that mean it's going to be really really hard to fix?

  • Bassano Clapper27/03/2009 at 17:40

    Sunday!

Was going to suggest drinks on Sunday afternoon if you fancy, but your liver may not be ready by then :D

So Lewis is saying something really worrying that it isn’t one specific problem with the car but that it is losing grip all over the place. Doesn’t that mean it’s going to be really really hard to fix?

Or that they haven't identified the issue yet [or not telling]

    Not suit his driving style?

So Lewis is saying something really worrying that it isn’t one specific problem with the car but that it is losing grip all over the place. Doesn’t that mean it’s going to be really really hard to fix?

my understanding is the aero isn't working, but once they figure it out it'll be all hunky-dory again.

problem is they're trying to get around the aero problems by running the car lower than it's designed to be, i guess.

  • Alex Andronov27/03/2009 at 17:42

Was going to suggest drinks on Sunday afternoon if you fancy, but your liver may not be ready by then :D

Yeah... We have some kind of Brunch thing on Sunday morning.... So I don't think Sunday is going to work... I'll see.

  • Alex Andronov27/03/2009 at 17:44

my understanding is the aero isn’t working, but once they figure it out it’ll be all hunky-dory again.

My thought was that was the kind of quote which means: "we're nowhere and we don't know what the problem is - everything seems to be wrong". Eg. It's the kind of problem that means you need a B spec car. And with no testing I'm guessing you can't have a B spec car.

  • Bassano Clapper27/03/2009 at 17:44

And with no testing I’m guessing you can’t have a B spec car.

What about a Force India spec car?

  • Bassano Clapper27/03/2009 at 17:45

Yeah… We have some kind of Brunch thing on Sunday morning…. So I don’t think Sunday is going to work… I’ll see.

Um... I was expecting more from them, I gotta say.

  • Bassano Clapper27/03/2009 at 17:51

I'm guessing they'll add 'exciting footage' when it becomes available

they've nicked the redbull preview video idea. right?

all the bits coming together to form a car?

  • Jon Waldock27/03/2009 at 17:53

    that was....ummm.....a bit rubbish

  • Mattw27/03/2009 at 17:53

my understanding is the aero isn’t working, but once they figure it out it’ll be all hunky-dory again.

If they don't have any grip at the front or the rear, then at least the car is well ballanced ;)

If the diffuser is not working, then this could effect the whole car, or maybe they have had to take grip away from the front to ballance the rear?

For McLaren, this year may well be about learning the new rules so they can make a better car for next year.

  • Bassano Clapper27/03/2009 at 17:54

all the bits coming together to form a car?

Bless 'em, they don't have much cash since the phone in votes revenue dried up

  • Bassano Clapper27/03/2009 at 17:55

If the diffuser is not working, then this could effect the whole car, or maybe they have had to take grip away from the front to ballance the rear?

I thought Lewis liked a lot of grip at the front and a loose rear

I think he was maybe giving the pc view of 'drives like a pig'

  • Alex Andronov27/03/2009 at 17:57

I think he was maybe giving the pc view of ‘drives like a pig’

    Agreed. That was my view.

its amazing how quickly british press go from Hamilton mania to Button Fever within the first day of practice!

  • Steven Roy27/03/2009 at 18:56

Also I note Ant Davidson blaming Sebring for Boudais lack lustre showing in practice.

He said that in the commentary. Its garbage though. Drivers can switch from car to car easily. He is just jealous that two teams want Seb and no-one wants him.

  • me27/03/2009 at 18:56

    quality!!

  • Dank27/03/2009 at 18:58

    i love this video

Looks so much better on a larger screen! I've seen it countless times, but it's only now that I've realised that Vettel says "broking" instead of "breaking" when talking about KERS.

  • Steven Roy27/03/2009 at 18:58

    Can someone elaborate on this?

Ant said that because Seb had driven the Peugeot which is a big heavy car which feels totally different to an F1 car any comment he had on the STR was due to that. Absolute rubbish. Seb spent the whole of last season moaning his way through Fridays and Saturdays. At the time he had already done ten laps. F1 drivers can adjust to a new car on a new track in that time.

  • lou27/03/2009 at 18:59

its amazing how quickly british press go from Hamilton mania to Button Fever within the first day of practice!

it annoys me tbh. i've supported Jenson since.. well i started watching f1.. and the press jumping from one to the other just irritates me. I saw loads of pics of Brawn GP and Jenson in various papers today and although it made me smile i also found myself getting angry at how fickle the press are.

  • Steven Roy27/03/2009 at 19:01

you can drive a f1 car with one of those things.

I asked McLaren's head of comms if I could swap my Storm for Lewis's, on account that mine doesn't even answer calls half the time. He did not reply.

I bought a car hands-free kit for it the other day. The fellow in the shop said, "It's good for when you're using the sat-nav." I said, "Ah, but the sat-nav doesn't work, does it?"

    He did not reply.

I posted a comment yesterday saying the only thing Bridgestone had to do to get perfect green circles was put a marker pen on a stand and hold next to a wheel on the wheel balancing machine. I thought I was being facetious but it seems my idea was more high tech than what they are actually doing. How can someone decide to put a wheel on a balancing machine and hold a marker pen on it?

    We were sandbagging.

Seriously, I don't think yet practice is showing the true pace of any of the cars. I don't think the BMW's are that slow or Lewis Hamilton is anywhere near as bad as he is showing, I can't see Heikki Kovalainen being that much ahead of Hamilton after really these two sessions.

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)27/03/2009 at 19:36

Just a couple of sentences and the best ones make it into the show!

Haven't seen any action yet but I almost spat out my coffee when I got to work and saw who were fastest... I know you can't always see true pace from free practice but I saw enough to completely change my Fantasy Racers team!

  • Vinnchan27/03/2009 at 19:37

Just a couple of sentences and the best ones make it into the show!

Just look at the trading going on in the fantasy league, that's enough to show you that Free Practice was enough to surprise everyone.

  • Steven Roy27/03/2009 at 19:39

Oh dear, I bet the team recieving that wouldn’t be very happy. Whats hard to get a clamp and a spinning thingy?

That is what I suggested when I thought that they had a more high tech method. A stand with a weight on the bottom and a pen grip. Couldn't be simpler. Maybe if it was made out of carbon fibre and cost $340k they would have one.

  • me27/03/2009 at 19:39

    Course.

free practice offered little in the way of traditional drama today. a couple of off-track excursions and vettel's machine being lifted by crane.

we did experience a different kind of drama though, as our expectations played out in front our eyes and a new f1 world order appeared to be established. last year's winners look slow while the car that could barely make it up the hill in brazil unaided looks like a genuine race contender.

here's to a brilliant qualifying session.

  • Dom27/03/2009 at 19:42

Just a couple of sentences and the best ones make it into the show!

All things considered, I don't think Friday Practice has told us much we didn't already know, or helped us work out which team has the fastest car, and that's probably a good thing because it makes qualifying even more unpredictable.

  • Steven Roy27/03/2009 at 19:42

I would love to make a cogent comment but in the end it comes down to three words. I am confused.

I was sorry for Seb Vettel....

I was sorry to see that the KERS effect seems to be that it makes the cars too heavy to be competitive...

I was obviously sorry that Kimi wasn't on top of the time sheets for both sessions...

  • Steven Roy27/03/2009 at 20:22

Nope. It will be impossible without a close up of the flap actually moving. 6 degrees is nothing.

    Evening.

What a load of bar stweards my bosses are.

I get home - change into my normal work wear *tatty jeans and a t-shirt* and the phone goes...

"Are you still in London as we need you at a meeting?"

    GAAAAAAAARGH!

So off I tramp to the train station again *still in the jeans rather than the suit - it's an old customer - they know me. :) * and I've only just got back home. They didn't even feed us! :(

    Pizza has been ordered.

He seems to have more idea than anyoe else at Ferrari ever had but that may be something to do with the generation change. His Red Bull marketing campaign obviously worked. I am surprised Mateschitz didn't have him locked in to some share scheme that he couldn't afford to walk away from.

Going for an unusual tactic of staying up till end of FP3, quick nap, qualifying (my mam is going to the airport so I should be up) and then a lazy morning which may involve sleep.

hehe :D i set my alarm clock, 1 on my phone and two on my ipod. it turned out i only needed the one cause i was too excited :D

  • Jackie27/03/2009 at 21:27

I fell asleep on the sofa for about 3 hours so I'm going to stay up now

  • RG27/03/2009 at 21:27

hehe :D i set my alarm clock, 1 on my phone and two on my ipod. it turned out i only needed the one cause i was too excited :D

Sometimes use my iPod, worked for Japan last year. Other times I use an alarm clock, but that is blinkin loud and can usually wake the whole street up, so I want to avoid that at all. There is my watch, haven't tried that yet.

  • Dom27/03/2009 at 21:28

    what about your phone?

I have a rubbish phone. It makes the quietest beep known to man...

  • lou27/03/2009 at 21:28

You should get Moss from the IT Crowd to take a look.

*hoping you watch IT Crowd to know* :D

  • Dom27/03/2009 at 21:32

    aww. one on your ipod?

Yeah, worth a try. I normally wake up before the alarm clock when early morning F1 is on, which scares me a little, because I never do that otherwise.

  • Dom27/03/2009 at 21:34

*hoping you watch IT Crowd to know*

    I do and I should. :D

  • lou27/03/2009 at 21:35

Yeah, worth a try. I normally wake up before the alarm clock when early morning F1 is on, which scares me a little, because I never do that otherwise.

i've only once missed the alarm for early morning f1... that was last year's Aus GP... i was so tired after watching the practices and quali i missed my alarm. i only missed the ITV build up though... so that was okay :)

  • Steven Roy27/03/2009 at 21:35

As a bookend to last weekend’s Sebring race, here are a couple of links to some awesome photography:

I read the report in Autosport bout that race. Aparently Marcus Werner only managed one stint in the 2nd Audi because he broke a rib on one of the bumps on the track.

They also said that the reason that McNish was so fast at the end of the race was because he had soft tyres for his last run. Seems odd that Audi could not double stint the hard tyres like Peugeot but they could run soft tyres and Peugeot could not.

  • Lukeh27/03/2009 at 21:36

huh?.... oh *tunes into five live*...

  • Lukeh27/03/2009 at 21:39

I'm gonna miss Blundell actually, it was always amusing trying to wonder what the hell he was talking about. But that's about it. I still remember his comment to end the Singapore GP... 'It's in the evening, I think steve, I dunno whether it's breakfast, dinner or tea but I';m starving!' Soemthing along those lines.

    Aww dear.

If you look up Brawn GP on twitter there are 4 links, one's a fan site, is one protected site with 1 member that you'd have to send request to, that one I quoted and another which links to some other website. I'll follow it for a few days and see but the date they joined was the same date for the you-tube channel

Looks cool, will check it out soon (most likely in the wee small hours before free practice.)

  • Jon Waldock27/03/2009 at 22:20

imagine creating a new car, and you know that it works at lower speeds, the faster you go the more likely things are to go wrong, hense the need for a shakedown

Not to worry, RG. It's one of those things. Also, I've been in a few one-driver teams before (both by accident and by design), so I wasn't moaning, just indicating the state of play to the other people in that thread.

    sidepodspace update

For those of you like Lou who are having a boring weekend with no excitement in it the space shuttle landing will be on NASA TV tomorrow. The landing is the best part of the mission to watch apart from the spacewalks. The first attempt will is scheduled for 1:39pm EDT(5:39pm UK) with a second opportunity one orbit later at 3:14pm EDT(7:13pm UK)

  • Steven Roy27/03/2009 at 23:16

The third round of the NASA mission cup is available for voting. It looks like a lot of people who are voting are clueless.

  • lou27/03/2009 at 23:17

For those of you like Lou who are having a boring weekend with no excitement in it the space shuttle landing will be on NASA TV tomorrow. The landing is the best part of the mission to watch apart from the spacewalks. The first attempt will is scheduled for 1:39pm EDT(5:39pm UK) with a second opportunity one orbit later at 3:14pm EDT(7:13pm UK)

:D please remind me closer to the time :D i'd love to watch it.

  • RG27/03/2009 at 23:17

And is it before or after the clocks have changed?

That doens't happen until Sunday mate. I think FP3 is at 1:30

  • Steven Roy27/03/2009 at 23:18

:D please remind me closer to the time :D i’d love to watch it.

I am not going to be around for it unfortunately. Set a reminder in your calendar. I am sure you will be near your computer between now and then.

  • Steven Roy27/03/2009 at 23:19

Summer time doesn't affect FP3. Only the race.

  • lou27/03/2009 at 23:20

so 5:39pm.... i'll try and remember

  • lou27/03/2009 at 23:22

is there much point in me getting sleep..... hmm...

  • lou27/03/2009 at 23:23

is there much point in me getting sleep….. hmm…

yes i think there is... i'll see you all in a few hours.

  • Dom27/03/2009 at 23:23

is there much point in me getting sleep….. hmm…

I'm starting to think that too. Might regret it if I don't, though...

  • Jackie27/03/2009 at 23:24

So I downloaded that file, but what do I need to run it?

What do you do after you download it .. or is it only for a mac, it doesn't seem to want to load

  • Steven Roy27/03/2009 at 23:25

yes i think there is… i’ll see you all in a few hours.

There is no way you are going to sleep and if quali goes well you will be ten times worse tomorrow night.

  • RG27/03/2009 at 23:25

Ah crap, no one told me FP3 starts at 3 in the morning. Hmmm. What to do?

  • lou27/03/2009 at 23:25

I’m starting to think that too. Might regret it if I don’t, though…

you need to be reasonably awake for the awesome Brawn in quali :D i think whatever happens it's going to be close :)

  • Steven Roy27/03/2009 at 23:26

What do you do after you download it .. or is it only for a mac, it doesn’t seem to want to load

It works on Windows. I can't remember what I did to load it though. Is it not just a standard click and it works?

  • lou27/03/2009 at 23:26

There is no way you are going to sleep and if quali goes well you will be ten times worse tomorrow night.

i'm going to try... if i don't knowing me i'll fall asleep through quali.

so it's 3hours sleep now... and a nice day on the sofa tomorrow :P

  • lou27/03/2009 at 23:27

    anyway i am going now....

    i really.. am....

  • Jon Waldock27/03/2009 at 23:27

    anyway i am going now….

    i really.. am….

i said that last night at about 12.30, then me posted a new podcast....

  • Jackie27/03/2009 at 23:27

It works on Windows. I can’t remember what I did to load it though. Is it not just a standard click and it works?

Nope that doesn't work and neither does right click and open

  • Pat W27/03/2009 at 23:28

you need to be reasonably awake for the awesome Brawn in quali :D i think whatever happens it’s going to be close :)

This is why I'm sacrificing FP3...

  • Christine27/03/2009 at 23:29

What do you do after you download it .. or is it only for a mac, it doesn’t seem to want to load

Umm... I don't know. To be honest, it's nowhere near ready for us to try and support it.

Have you got Adobe Air working?

  • Pat W27/03/2009 at 23:29

This is why I’m sacrificing FP3…

also I want to still be alive for a round of hitting small balls around fields in a game not dissimilar to golf, but not near enough to be called golf...

  • Jackie27/03/2009 at 23:29

Have you got Adobe Air working?

I downloaded that so I guess so.

  • Christine27/03/2009 at 23:30

    Have you installed it?

  • Jon Waldock27/03/2009 at 23:30

also I want to still be alive for a round of hitting small balls around fields in a game not dissimilar to golf, but not near enough to be called golf…

aha, i went to the driving range earlier, after about 30-40 balls i was dead!

  • Jackie27/03/2009 at 23:31

    Have you installed it?

I clicked all the buttons at prompt but I cant find it under programs

  • Pat W27/03/2009 at 23:31

aha, i went to the driving range earlier, after about 30-40 balls i was dead!

The courses around here are ridiculously tiring!

  • RG27/03/2009 at 23:31

Hmm, I'm thinking I log off now, listen to me podcasts, see what time it is, I'll hit off to bed until 30 minutes to the end of practice. Hit back off to bed for 55 minutes ahead of the BBC coverage.

I've got the night planned out.

  • Jon Waldock27/03/2009 at 23:32

The courses around here are ridiculously tiring!

we have a PGA course round here that i used to be a member at, THE most tiring rounds of golf ever, its all up hill, and steep gradient at that!!

  • Christine27/03/2009 at 23:32

I clicked all the buttons at prompt but I cant find it under programs

You've used Twhirl before, haven't you? That runs on Air, so you must have it installed correctly.

From what I recall, you just double click the desktop doohickey file, run through that installation procedure and then it should work.

  • Jackie27/03/2009 at 23:34

From what I recall, you just double click the desktop doohickey file, run through that installation procedure and then it should work.

Tried that didn't work and neither did "open" .. maybe I have to close down computer and try again

  • Pat W27/03/2009 at 23:34

we have a PGA course round here that i used to be a member at, THE most tiring rounds of golf ever, its all up hill, and steep gradient at that!!

At both Chedington and Charminster you go up a steep hill, then turn right around and go back down again, and then do it again... if we go to either tomorrow I might try another dropio upload..

  • Jackie27/03/2009 at 23:35

Will re-boot see if that works

  • Aitch27/03/2009 at 23:35

A question for Mr or Mrs C, Do you have a number on how many people were commenting during FP?

  • Jon Waldock27/03/2009 at 23:36

At both Chedington and Charminster you go up a steep hill, then turn right around and go back down again, and then do it again… if we go to either tomorrow I might try another dropio upload..

My least favourite bit about golf is the seeing the clubhouse on the 9th/10th hole and then realising you have another 9/8 to go!! lol

  • Steven Roy27/03/2009 at 23:36

Has dropio been modified again? On my tab it flicks between "drop.io sidepodcast" and "audio updated" I have never noticed that before.

  • me27/03/2009 at 23:37

A question for Mr or Mrs C, Do you have a number on how many people were commenting during FP?

    yup. well, roughly.

during fp1 over 100 people, and during fp2 i think it was slightly less than that. but many lots were lurking rather than contributing.

    any reason why you ask?

  • me27/03/2009 at 23:38

Has dropio been modified again? On my tab it flicks between “drop.io sidepodcast” and “audio updated” I have never noticed that before.

christine just posted the mp3. it was part of the update that came with the chap methinks.

Just curious, saw quite a few new names yesterday.

Heh. At a couple of courses we go to (we rotate between three - we're not members anywhere) you leave the clubhouse and don't see it again until the 18th. Takes you into the middle of nowhere!

  • Christine27/03/2009 at 23:39

christine just posted the mp3. it was part of the update that came with the chap methinks.

You are not fit to be typing. "Many lots..." and "came with the chap"??

  • me27/03/2009 at 23:40

ah yes. was more popular than we were expecting.

challenge is to get every joinee commenting.

Unpleasent World - Have that somewhere. Teller is a master of sleight of hand.

    appeal date set:

“Formula One’s Australian Grand Prix diffuser controversy will be decided at an international court of appeal hearing in Paris on April 14, the sport’s governing body said on Saturday.”

    April 14th?

Wow. Thats closer than I was expecting.

Still too late really though. Ideally should be done before the next race.

  • Flibster28/03/2009 at 01:26

Well this is a first, doing the washing at 1am. At least I can go to bed after quali and not feel bad

I've got to tidy the flat. :D

Other half arrives home in 12 hours and 30 minutes... :D Place is a tip .

    pretty good going i'd say.

also the day before the science meetup :)

  • R.B.28/03/2009 at 01:30

Just read a good argument against the 2010 winner takes all rules.

There would be a lot of teamorders. You wouldn't want your two drivers to each win some races.

The teams would start the season with a focus on only one driver. Brings back the Schumi feeling.

  • Flibster28/03/2009 at 01:30

In person discssion of the appeal to the appeal to the protest? ;)

"The screen went black and a notice said that coverage was being discontinued because of "rights issues in Canada with TSN."

Aw diddums, why should he say, he hadn't been a member of FOTA between December when Honda were put up for Sale and March when he bought the team .. or am I wrong?

  • Flibster28/03/2009 at 02:31

Another podcastf1podcast has written this which I found funny. :D

I posted something earlier along the same lines. Flavio saying that Brawn had an adavantage and never mentioned it. It's hard to believe Flav has spent so long in F1. Hope he doesn't trip over his petted lip.

Nick Fry's popped back up on BBC's updates:

Here's the full 'sp' on that Virgin-Brawn GP link-up I promised you. Brawn GP chief executive Nick Fry said: "Virgin is paying to sponsor the car and it might evolve into more," with Sir Richard Branson adding: "Virgin are trying to build the most respected brand in the world and an involvement with a great team will help that."

    Hmph.
