Another week begins, and we're heading straight into Monday, after what I hope was a good weekend for everyone. The racing may not have been up to the calibre of what we have seen so far this year, but it could have been a lot worse!
If you have something to say about the Valencia weekend, don't forget to send voicemails and emails in our direction. We're hoping to record the Debrief at some point today, so you've got time to compose your thoughts. Voicemails can be left via 0121 28 87225, whilst christine@sidepodcast.com is the email address.
This week is sees the final seven days of the Wimbledon tournament, which we'll be covering each and every day. We've seen some great posts on the subject, and watched some excellent tennis, so if that's your thing, look out for a post later today!
Glastonbury Festival provided us with some excellent music over the weekend, but that's come to an end now. Weary revellers will be returning home, hopefully to a nice hot bath and a good cup of tea, wash all the mud off. This coming weekend is the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where we hope there will be no mud at all.
If you're free in the week, and can get to London, there's a fabulous Sidepodmeetup to be attended, welcome the lovely Kai to the UK in style.
That's all I have for you today, don't forget to keep your suggestions coming in for Christine's Rankings, which will be going up tomorrow. There are a few bits I spotted over the weekend in Valencia, but the more eyes the better. And with that, I shall leave you in the comments, where I will hopefully see you soon!
What a week for SidepodPeople meeting each other for fun and co-commenting
national motorsport week, what else!
Thank you for the daily Christine :)
I should head to bed, night all
Night
night!
G'night

Christian Sylt is supposed to know about F1 but this is the most moronic story I have ever read
http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/254998/-Tin-can-engines-row-hits-F1-races
Hmmm... That's bizarre, to say the least. Not to mention outdated - haven't they already switched to V6s for 2014? This is a non-story.
Apart from anything else why would Indycar suddenly decide to have 16 extra races and how likely is it that Monaco would ditch F1?
Hahaha! Very good point. That's not much of a threat at all. Says a lot about Indycar more than anything.
Totally stupid story. And I haven't even read it. As if IndyCar would drop everything it does now, they already have enough trouble at home with fans who don't like road courses and foreign events.
Nonsense that F1 tracks would drop GPs because of some rev limit.
If you're free in the week, and can get to London, there's a fabulous Sidepodmeetup to be attended, welcome the lovely Kai to the UK in style.
Thank you for that, Christine.
I have some final packing to do in the morning, then it's off to stay near the airport for my flight Tuesday morning. :)
Good night all.

Morning, folks.

we keep talking about how exciting races we have this year, the Valencia race is branded dull even though it was probably more exciting than most races last year.
yet we may well have the champion crowned by the time F1 leaves Singapore or Japan with 4-5 races to spare. even worse if the rule changes to not affect the relative pace of the cars next weekend we may see more less the entire grid to give up and switch their attention to 2012 season at about the half season mark ...
so, what is better - exciting races and dullest championship in years or down to the wire championship made of OK-to-dull races ?
There's a thread for that: http://sidepodcast.com/post/discussion-point-do-races-or-championships-make-for-vintage-seasons
:D
well, me not here all the time, so missed that one :-)
Morning all !!
I noted this beforehand on the Twitterweb - what a ridiculous article.
when was the last time that person printed something non-ridiculous ? I wonder how good and worth the buck must be the formula money bible ...
They will still be qouting in 2020 no doubt. I suppose he has nothing better to do than flog his own book.
On a sidenote, the reference to IndyCar in the article was purely inflammatary. They - rather obviously - have bigger things to worry anout at the moment.
It was funny actually. I can imagine hundreds of thousands people filling up the Shanghai grandstands for Indy Car race when they can't get them there for F1 (or before for Moto GP during the height of Rossi era) ... :-)
THing is, I'm not sure it's a good idea for IndyCar to pick up any F1 castaways, lest they fancy the risk of looking like they're picking up F1 scraps.
they picked up Sato :-)
(Ba dum tische)
To be honest, Sato gets a lot of unfair criticism - he's very fast and when he doesn't crash (......ahem), he scores quite well.
I always liked Sato in F1 because of his crashing skills. As long as he was on the track something was bound to happen. The current class of F1 drivers (Hamilton and Kobayashi including) still have lot to learn :-)
It's not the same since class-master Andrea de Ceseris retired....
:/
Good morning Leigh and Wolf :)
Hi Marti
Morning All,
Anyone know what rule changes are coming in for next year? Have they announced any?
Hi Nick.
Well, I know there will be a change in the exhausts rules, but nothing more... I think.
Hi Twiger
How's the heat this morning? I'd feel bad complaining....
I was thinking more on the aero side, i remember hearing something about changing the wing sizes but not sure if that was for next year or 2013/14
Red Bull will not be allowed to win more than 2 races in a row
I do believe that's under protest from Webber
;)
that was probably the 2013 package that originally should have included also the return of ground effect. but the teams dropped that already and now the whole new package will be moved to 2014 toegther with the engines
I think it was about the front and rear wings.
Cant find it anywhere, F1 news isnt that well archived!
I think the aero package won't be moved to 2014. Pirelli said they would make faster tyres for 2013 due to the lack of aerodinamics.
teams may not be keen designing one brand new car for 2013 and then another brand new for 2014 and totally different power trains ...
Ah, found some info.
Only changes so far are exhausts and the height of the nose infront of the driver.
Full list of changes to be published later this week http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10242
Have we seen this new Vodafone video? http://youtu.be/Y8NhU3hcDFo
Aha, i remember seeing some bizarre twitpics with props, now it makes a little more sense!
I remember the pics of Jenson, did wonder what they were for.
Hilarious :)

Smoke signals...? Megaphone, maybe? Could be a handy alternative
Now I've lost my purse. Bad bad bad times. Today is not a good day.
Oh dear
:/
I should clarify. It's in the house somewhere.... It's not lost like outside :P
Phew...
Hello. Day off, lovely lie-in.. will watch the race shortly

Hmmm.
From Benson:
"Initially, the belief among some of Red Bull's rivals was that because the world champions had been the first in exploiting this technology, they must be more advanced with it, and therefore would be hardest hit by any ban.
But Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said over the course of the weekend in Spain that they had tried 'hot blowing' and abandoned it because it was burning the bodywork - so had stuck with the less influential 'cold-blowing', where the throttles are kept open but fuel is not burnt. This produces significantly less energy and so is less effective than hot blowing.
That means that far from the Silverstone ruling hurting Red Bull, it could actually help them - as their closest rivals, Ferrari and McLaren, are both using hot-blowing."
Yikes.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/andrewbenson/2011/06/sebasitan_vettel_dashes_hopes.html
Ever notice how this always seems to happen...
Actually, this hasn't happened in a while. And it may be the first time the FIA slipped up on a midseason rules change in the hope of tightening up the title race.
Hi all.....
So yesterday was an utter snoorefest...even the resident golden boy couldn't make any progress....a but change from two weeks ago.
I feel really bad that I turned over halfway yesterday and didn't feel the slightlest pang of guilt or worry that i'm missing something.
Catching up on Glastonbury highlights seemed much more productive and exciting.
I don't know what they're going to do with that track. I believe the track is fine but it's more the filming angles and scenary. We just seem to be staring at huge amount of concrete for hours on end. If they got rid of the head on views looking down each of the long straights it may look more exciting. It deserves one last chance (just to be sure) but no more lifelines after this.
Really. What about the rule tweaks last year to try stop the Red Bull victory train?
(Moveable suspensions, etc...)
True, but those weren't really major changes, IMO.
Evening All,
All this awesomness going on over there makes want to move there even more...
What awesomeness?
Glastonbury, Goodwood, Wimbeldon, Not winter, Sidepodmeetup, Silverstone in 2 weeks...
It's a good few weeks for the UK.
Hmph.... :)
Oh right
:D
Hehe. All I can say is we do our best to share it :)
With many late nights & the Interweb quota copping a right beating this month
This is the best couple of months of the year. :)
Ssssh! dont curse it! ... I plan to wear shorts and non-mud suitable shoes!
If Bernie can't control the weather, I'm pretty sure I can't either :)
Just watched the race. First half: no complaints at all, lots of action or potential action which didn't quite come off (but could've done). Second half: not much going on, great race for 7th-13th or so hampered by not being able to pass which flattened it somewhat.
Basically like a fair to middling race from 2009 I reckon, by 2011 standards that's pretty flat but in more overall terms not too bad. Best one yet at this venue, for what that's worth.
Still should be replaced with a French GP...
Depends where it is. Not Magny-Cours please. Ever.
France has host Grand Prix in many different circuits.
I think there have been like 16 different circuits... We would have plenty of options to choose!
pd. La Sarthe. Please...
I quite liked Magny-Cours, with DRS, the Adelaide hairpin would be a busy place :D
As Marti suggests, there's many to choose from
Only two are suitable for modern F1 with only minor changes: Magny-Cours and Paul Ricard
3 with Le Mans Bugatti which MotoGP uses
Paul Ricard is in pole position (ahem) if this should come to fruition
F1 raced there once, in 1966. Story goes that the race was so boring they decided never to come back to Le Mans. They've never come back since.
It was like AVUS - very, very fast race where very little actually happened
I'm surprised nothing happened at AVUS. That was an oval, no? Surely it would've meant slipstreaming galore?
It's pin shaped - ovals work before the straights are often not unreasonably long. When straights are too long, very little action happens.
looks like something NASCAR could use, but for those 2 right handers... :P
Well, that and the fact that its not there anymore
:D
Well... kind of...
Berlin Wall split it into two, no?
Well, it's the Autobahn and the Nurdkurv is part of the Mercedes building nowadays
Hi....
Are you likely to do a podcast off the back of yesterdays race?
Hi Elissa :)
Yo yo....are you not joining in the 'tennis' thread?
Just went for a walk. Boo for the barbers being shut and no opening hours on the door, will try in the morning. Nice temperature, cool breeze, the rest of the country might be baking but not here..
Mmm.. Autobahn...
Yup.
Plenty of talk there but the game doesn't interest me at all.
You could talk about the fact that the organization said there were 5.000 supporters more than VSC's capacity... Strange thing.
Ditto.....that's a relief to know i'm not the only that doesn't get the attraction...
That's why we gave it its own thread.
Yr mad......you should both take the time off instead and have a well earned break.

Thats why we love you guys :)
As tempting as that is, we have things to say.
Makes it even worse.... :(
Lewis hasn't done anything wrong this week! What else is there to discuss?!!...oh you mean Beyonce at Glastonbury...silly me
Time for some Kraftwerk
:)
Hehehe. At least we know it will be a shorter show this week. Thank goodness.
I like the thinking there :)
Singapore took all of my money! I wasn't expecting to pay for that until September. Boooo.
Now you know how we feel in November-January :)
If it is any consolation I recorded this last year - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmxqMMiXMo0
I won't be there on the Sunday this year though.
Ouch, heavy month then with the Olympics too.
Goodwood, car tax, and potential car repair have made it fairly heavy for me too. Partly glad I lost the Olympic ballot (gave up on the 2nd round..).
Hmmm yes! Although i'm waiting to see how it's Lewis's fault JB finished down the order.... ;-)
Come on Mr C.....don't let us down...
I love Vulcans... thanks Pat
precisely, normally it wouldn't matter because I never carry a balance on my credit card but thats an awfully large chunk to go out in one week, especially when I only had about 10 minutes warning that this is a "fully prepaid booking" considering I booked it in October last year when they just said they'd take a deposit and never did.
At least Pamela is paying half, that takes some of the sting out of it :)
Ooh, I have some too: http://mrschristine.com/2009/09/06/upside-down/
Aye - I just sorted out my Spa trip for next month. I shall be having smaller meals for a while to make up for it.
Now you're all just showing off....
at least by next pay day I'll have Singapore hotel paid for, Olympics tickets paid for, and I'll be booking my Olympics flight in about a month, then I can get into serious saving mode for quite a long time because I'll have no more big expenses before December 2012. Unless another GP starts calling to me ;)
It was an amazing sight..
Christine, I would like to write a Daily Post.
When will I be able to do so?
Thanks!
Any of you ever been to that tiny aircraft museum nr Peterlee ({sunderland) they've got a Vulcan outside that's sadly falling apart due to weathering....remember it from being a child and wonder if it's still there
Heheh, one my local football teams (Yeovil Town) signed a player after they asked fans on Twitter who to look out for... they are calling it a twansfer.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13902298.stm
Mm, I keep racking up expenses on the card but struggle to pay it back, stupid higher rent than last year. I think after Goodwood I'll be eating pasta for a while.
I can't stop thinking that its something Nick Heidfeld would say.
No but I've been to Yeovilton a few times as a child, they have a Concorde.
Ooh, I do like a volunteer :)
I only have one fortnightly daily spare, which is on a Monday, and I just wrote that one today! So you are welcome to that one in two weeks time, although you never know when we might need emergency cover.
Reminds me, I need to sort out my Revival tickets soon too
I think they wheel it out for the Sunderland Air Show every year.
Slightly tempted to freeload the Yeovilton Air Day in a couple of weeks (stand in a field nearby).. did that a few years ago and was much fun.
For a second I thought that read "Slightly tempted to sign for Yeovil Town..."
:D
Then it would be Monday the 11th, no?
It doesn't move!! It's defo still there though, just found the museum on the website plus found it on Google earth...
Ok a challenge....I just found it (the Vulcan) can any of you spot it from this satellite pic? WITHOUT zooming in? http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?daddr=54.930397,-1.505299&hl=en&sll=54.912689,-1.47294&sspn=0.050176,0.113297&mra=mift&mrsp=1&sz=14&t=k&z=14
Yes, that's the one.
Ok :) It's a good day to write a daily post! I'll be able to talk about Silverstone.
Right folks,
I have to disappear for a while - I may be back later
Cheerio
:)
I zoomed....
Anyone slots for guest articles coming up? I could do one for online racing. I'm part of a large community that race anything that moves (Mini's right up to F1)
Got to be the grey smudge south of the big building?
I think I know why it doesn't move. It appears to lack a runway.
cheat....everytime you do that kitten's and panda's die
Thank of the animals Mattt
See you later
Well didn't they design it to be used on rough n ready runways?.....standards are slipping it seems.
Thats Sunderland for ya...
Not that.. can't see it
ohh found it :)
Make sure you can see the place marked 'B' in the frame.....then look vaguely south near some buildings :-)
Guest posts are always welcome any time.
Cool....I'm convinced there's racers in here...all that's required is an xbox or ps3.....well there's PC based racing but that tends to be v elitist
Me!
Although I usually race in computer, but I've got the GT5 and so on.
yeah, those 3 guys are such snobs.... :p
Look fwd to it Elissa
Ok here's a proper challenge....I think there's still an Engish Electric Lightning sat by the side of the Al...I'm pretty sure it's near Newark.....if you can find it you deserve a medal ...
Ahem.
Cool......I tend to only race via Xbox these days. I did toy around with Rfactor and Iracing but my PC's not good enough...plus I didn't like Iracing's snobby attitude and cost!
:D
I'm quite big into painting and tuning cars up, love creating liveries...
You could paint a Sidepodcast Racing Team F1 car ;)
I have a feeling Lukeh has done something like that?
I'm lazy & download mine from the shop :)
And ruin my cred with my team..... ;-)
only joking.....what's the best site to upload a pic to? I'll show you my Mosler and 908 paint schemes
Are you only on PS3 online etc?
I always use http://www.tinypic.com
only Xbox these days under 'Kid A Prime'
used to PC a while back, but switched to Mac :)
Ah...so yr Kid A Prime! I think you survived the weekend cull :-)
Here's my 908 in colour - http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=j8fzo4&s=7
my 908 looking very sexy at the nurgburgring - http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2mmsoau&s=7
And my ultimate dream car - Mosler MT900s (the black car!) http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=30wmvlk&s=7
Awesome pics!
How did you do that?
I played around with netKar namie (original not Pro) and rFactor but not much online. I found the netKar community was very friendly and not snobbish, although the few times I tried online I was awful. Loved the physics of the Mini and the F3000 in that.
Can't afford a 'proper' console, do have a Wii though.. shame F1 2009 never had online multiplay :)
Photograph mode in the Forza 3 game....you can pause a reply at any point and then you have full 360 degre control to take the pic, then you can edit the pic in game for contrast, aperture etc
coool
Ty :-)
I do also have a Lola Aston i've painted up but can't seem to upload pics to the Forza servers at the moment. I do tend to have a general theme which is sticking with cadbury's purple ( do know the actual colour code if anyones sad enough to care)
Yay :)
Nice cars & pics
Also, loving how Forza 4 is looking :D
I am quite bored today.
Any ideas or projects I could do?
What kind of thing? Writing?
Anything :P
night all, zzz
Enjoy a little something from the sidepodcast.com back catalogue.

And I didn't know you own a domain called sidepodcast.tv... You must spent a fortune in all those websites!
It's green screen.
The big cost comes not from domain names but for the title sequence and background image :)
Did you make that intro?
Nope.
I mean, technically Mr C is capable of making something like that, but sometimes there isn't time :)
Wow, then I guess he has done the Debrief's sounds and effects... The last song (when the debrief ends) is the same than the first one (intro), sometimes I've started to relisten to the podcast without noticing at first :P
Yea, we made that. I say we. I just told him what it should sound like.
I still remember how mind = utterly blown when I realised it was your own version of the ITV theme at the time. It still amazes me :)

Christine: Do you know if Mr C is aware of Kai's arrival time tomorrow or if he is still considering an airport greeting?
Hi Bassano :)
Bye bye everyone.
See you tomorrow :)
Bye Marti
Hi Bassano, bye Marti
Hi Pat
Eeeeeeevening :)
Hi Alison
My phone is mysteriously broken. I have taken the opportunity to order myself a shiny looking htc.
I was asked to do some predictions and this is how i got on..
http://f1predict.blogspot.com/2011/06/european-grand-prix-26-june-2011.html
Spot on with the podium.
Astonished!
What time is it?
About 7:45, likely to be after 8pm
Hi. Headping, I guess. :)
Just got to my hotel next to JFK.
:)
How's NYC
London is hot & sticky. Not a good day to be caught in severe traffic when I had to be somewhere earlier this afternoon
For 3hr 20min I was so clad of air conditioning
He says: "completely forgot tomorrow, but will make sure I come to the meetup on weds instead. apologies."
He even talks with no caps, see.
Same as London, it seems. Hot and sticky. 26C and humid, got stuck in traffic on the way down, but I planned on getting here at my leisure today so I can now just kick back and reorganize my suitcase. It was way too heavy at first so I took a bunch of stuff out. I channeled Amy and did the best I could do leave stuff at home.
Cool, good compromise
Darn, I left in the "I". Just can't do the no caps thing :)
I think only girls want to reorganise something that is already safe and secure
Boys: did the lid close?
Yup.
Then lets go
Always editing ;)
hehe
Yeah, after I took some things out in a hurry it was messy and not arranged right.
See! ;)
:D
This is pretty much my thinking tbh. Baggage allowance is much more restrictive trans atlantic though is it?
I'm used to having a 30kg limit so my general rule is if I can lift the bag unaided, it's fine! :P
Hehehe I'm more of a crush it in kind of person!
Kai, technically Scotland is another country from England so it'll be 4 countries in 4 months
Individual bags mustn't be greater than 23kg I think. Manual handling restrictions
Nice. So we will have met up in 4 different countries if 4 months. Whoa.
What are those heavy bag stickers for then?
I just don't want to be lugging around a heavy bag on trains, planes and automobiles. Did that in Stockholm once. I'll never do it again.
Seems to be 2 on, 1 off. Then repeat.
Sep & Oct will be busy :D
Only after you've optimised the weight distribution.
We are F1 fans..
BA make you repack now. Depends on the airline you travel with
Fair enough. I'm not sure UAE are so bothered about their baggage handlers tbh....
:D
Well that just comes naturally. Proper ballast positioning
True
Shame about the poor sods at the other end though. Most of it's mechanical now anyway.
For the record my bag has never weighed anything close to that. If I can lift it, I'd expect someone else to also be able to manage.
I just mean, I don't really stress about an allowance or whatever, I just pack what I want as long as I can get it in there.
My rule of thumb is now more than 3/4 of my backpack going out, therefore having space to bring stuff back
*no more
Ah I see. I guess I'm less fussed in that I can just clutter up Nick's house with any excess stuff :P
I also need to discourage myself from buying anything at the moment. No room in the bag sounds like a good excuse!
No wonder the kettle ended up on top of the fridge :D
I don't actually think there's anything there at the moment. Cosmetics and stuff that I'm worried would spill on my clothes mainly.
ooh, the weather channel.
Dig that cooooool jaaazzzzz.....
Are there ads on The Weather Channel?
I guess there must be, just wonder how they pay the bills
There is a parasol!
Yes. Kenmore appliances at the moment.
I keep finding more and more band-aids (plasters) that I seem to have tucked in here and there. You'd think I was heading to a triage and not to see you guys.
Mark Kermode [film critic] via twitter:
Transformers 3D is nearly a quarter of an hour longer than 2001 -- a film which went from the dawn of man to the birth of a new species.
Damn, that's another thing I forgot to but at the supermarket
My 'wedding shoes' are a tad painful
Well, I have us both covered at this point. :)
I used to get to a hotel and enjoy the junk food and sitting around.
I miss M&M's soooooo much. And just being able to stop anywhere and grab something. It's truly a hassle, and it's upsetting. :(
How long are you sticking to the regime, till health improves?
Was on the golf course yesterday in sweltering heat, not a cloud in the sky, until we got to the top of the hill and saw Portland shrouded in mist like an evil lair
http://post.ly/2I9ju
What are you restricted to?
Well, I guess so. But now that I don't eat anything that I'm sensitive, when I do, I can have some skin reaction or something. I guess it's the body's version of a reminder what works and what doesn't. But sometime it's emotionally draining and hard to have the will power, even if I may not feel great later.
That bathtub full of Ben and Jerry's Phish Food may still be in my future. hehe
But it doesn't even sound that good right now.
*sensitive to
So, a very small piece every once in a blue moon?
Wow, Karun tried crowd sourcing a number to complain about Luton Airport Arrivals facilities.
He got a tweet back saying they would look into his issues personally
No gluten (barley, rye, oats, wheat) - so no flour/bread/crackers/pasta
No sugar
No soy
No caffeine
No alcohol
No corn
No bananas
No pineapple
No shrimp
No cashews
So mainly meat and veggies for me, and some fruit.
It's great because I'm healthier than I've been in years, and it just takes time for the body to repair itself, but it sucks, also. Many can't imagine doing without alllll those foods.
I was told if I was really jonesing for something I can have it with the "3 bite rule". Have 3 bites of it and stop. Does that mean 3 M&M's or 3 giant handfuls of M&M's, I wonder? :)
:)
Luton's clearly a dump. What was he expecting?
That's a long list..
Amen, brother.
oh and no milk.
Not much choice if you need to be close to Norfolk.
Don't know why the BBC fly through there too. I know they cut costs but I'd pay the extra to flying to a proper airport
Well that's the whole point. I've been there before because it was cheap. It's cheap because it's a dump. Pay up or shut up imo.
Weird that's the only nut
Was that hard to pinpoint?
Oh, I think almonds aren't good either.
I had each one tested, so we found it that way, but otherwise it would have been hard to find, I imagine.
Apparently, the F1 mob fly SleazytJet or RyanScair through there a lot and always have massive queues when they arrive. Though it's usually at the end of the day
Ping: http://sidepodcast.com/post/tweets-of-the-week-never-lost-for-words
Hehehe when I flew with KLM out of Liverpool last month, all the budget people had a huuuuge queue for security and KLM gave me a free express pass thing right to the front of the line. Quite funny really.
I was about to say that's a tough one, but then everything that goes with milk is banned as well, so... No tea/coffee or breakfast cereal.
Rice milk? No caffeine kind of rules out the tea and coffee anyways.
For me, paying that little bit extra [when I do go full fare] makes up for the reduction in stress
yeah, exactly. I miss iced coffee like you would not believe. :(
Breakfast is based on protein and veg, not the usual yummy stuff that I loved.
It's just another way that I'm not normal. ;)
At least you found us, we shun normal :D
Yeah, I've looked at rice milk here, but most of it is sweetened with cane sugar or something that I can't have, but I found coconut milk works for me. (it doesn't taste like coconuts, it's pretty close to regular milk). I only use it to put in my gluten free pancakes that I make, otherwise I don't have a use for it. I have caffeine free herbal tea with nothing in it.
I suppose Decaff contains enough caffeine to be bothersome
yeah, and I basically used coffee as a milk and sugar delivery system. I can't drink it straight.
Also are you just going to have it black?? I like black coffee but that's gross cold. You need milk for iced.
Ah man, I've got my one year old second cousin's celebratory BBQ/gathering on Sunday. My niece's wedding on Saturday. SidepodPubbing is just going to be a warm up for my kidneys.
I may need to detox myself come Monday
What is a 2nd cousin?
My cousin's daughter
Really? I have those. I didn't realise that's what it was called.
I think it's the 'once removed thing' in the States. Kai?
Either way - 2nd cousin or my cousin once removed.
I don't have any, so I'm not sure about the terminology.
I have got permission to sit and mong with my sunglasses on Sunday though. I'll raise my hand when I need a refill :D
Luckily, I can walk to my cousin's place
I'm playing with the colors on my blog and it's driving me batty.
Remember to stay inside the lines. Oh, you mean...
hehe
I'm trying to make it a light background with dark text, but it's hard to get the right combo that feels right, and then the right fonts.
Evening all
Find a site you like the look of and nick their idea
Hi Steven
Wicked smaht, as they say in Boston. :)
Hi Steven
I like the sound of that

Another F1 podcast has leaked Massa's engine map. Great exclusive guys

I loved that one
How true :D
Somehow I've ended up watching the Terminator... Turns out I've never seen the first one before.
SPOILERS
He'll be back
He just said that :D
Phew it's not a spoiler now then
Nothing if not predictable
did lou know that emma's covering for jules' maternity leave?
https://twitter.com/#!/EmBearpark/status/85472860889554944
no jules at goodwood this year.
Bed calls, g'night people
Good night,
(I don't get many chances to say this, so....)
See you tomorrow!!! woo hoooo! :)
I haven't seen Jules mentioned in a long time
Night
Playing with blog colors got fun again, I gave up on my old template.
What colours have you decided on
I haven't finalized it yet. I'm happy to be in the blues at the moment. :)
no? :( I shall have to get a pic of her instead.
Boo for no Jules tho. but will say hi to em anyways.
she's got married and had a baby.. so she's not been working with jb as much
That would explain why she hasn't been around much
my parents are taking off on their big UK trip right now. Very jealous but very happy for my mum that she's finally meeting the other side of her family. Mostly jealous though since I'm on my way to work!
Maybe we'll be at Heathrow around the same time?
i believe you'll beat them, they're stopping over in Singapore so won't be at Heathrow until Thursday.
I can only imagine what an unexpected sidepodcast meet up would do to Amy's parents
If I don't beat them then we have some big time/space continuum issues.
This is sidepodcast. Time does odd things here
Mr C, they just mentioned the Go Pro camera on CNN. Some reporter mounted one on his head to cover campaign rallies.
#nopolitics
True.
You are just giving him ideas
I am loving this hanging out in the hotel room thing. I am starting to relax. It's the first chance I've had to just sit and do nothing. I love it.
It's always good to just switch off
It's been weeks and weeks of nonstop go go go. This is great. And I have a great view from my room, and it's quiet. Great place.
Great for a budget hotel.
are you going to be as keen as my folks? They were first in the check in queue because they got to the airport before the staff.
hehe
Aww.
I tend to take my time, get to the gate with enough time to relax a little, make sure I've bought water after I had to get rid of or chug mine at security, then board when they call my section.
Oh, and I chose my seat and checked in this morning online. I chose seat 42C, on the aisle, far enough back so I can see out without the pesky wing in the way.
I'm a window girl myself but avoiding the pesky wing is always a good choice.
I get the window thing, definitely. I like to be able to get up whenever I want without bothering anyone. I sometimes feel a little claustrophobic so being able to move around helps.
that I get too :) Pamela is an aisle person so travelling with her is great if we manage to get onto a plane that has rows of 2 seats instead of rows of 3.
Perfect.
I wish we could have bench seats and just slide around as we want to. Oh, and not having someone next to me is ideal (and not going to happen).
I like a window seat but I like to get in one of the emergency exit rows so that I can stretch my legs and get up without annoying people
the best flight I've ever had was when I moved to Melbourne, it left at 6am and there was only about 12 people on it so I got a whole row to myself to lie down on and spend 3 hours wondering if I was making a terrible mistake. Blissful. :D
EE rows are the best. I wonder if BA has access to them? I'll ask tomorrow. Some domestic carriers here save those now for elite members.
the only time I've ever sat in an emergency exit row was one of my Easyjet flights last year. I didn't like the pressure of knowing I'd have work to do in an emergency :D
Leg room is never an issue for me though #short
Normally on 747s row44 is the best but take the aisle seat because the window seat has only have the normal width of legroom because the chute in the door bulges out so the middle and window seats end up sharing leg space.
Funny, I guess with being in charge of stuff lots of the time I didn't mind being in that role. I'm good in a clutch. I freak out afterward.
oh, I forgot to check seatguru for this one... I'll go see what the dealio is.
I would rather trust me than anyone else
I was just not sure how heavy those doors are since I have 0% upper body strength
#same
With adrenaline you could chuck it a mile.
Super Amy!!!
My mum watched some flight crash programme once and now considers herself the Ray Mears of the aeroplane world. She keeps telling me I should be sitting over the wing....
If you are about to die you will find the strength
Amy, have you ever used www.seatguru.com? It's really helpful when choosing seats. Enter flight number and see each and every seat's particulars.
Where the fuel tanks are and the engines to set that fuel on fire?
I love it, I use it to make sure my seat has a power point. Need to charge gadgets!
ok, ok, let's remember one of us *ahem* needs to get in one of these tomorrow.....and doesn't relish the thought....
Apparently over the wing 2 rows from the exit gives you statistically the best odds of survival. You should keep your shoes on too.
I was so excited to find it. TripAdviser is great, I think I found the link there.
More than half the people who get on planes survive long enough to get off at the other end.
they don't have air asia on there, or they didn't last time i looked, so that was a trip into the unknown for me :)
Never thought about the shoes thing
boo. I think I remember another airline I was trying to find once that wasn't on there either.
This is clearly advice I've disregarded but I like to think of my paranoid mother sometimes :P
My shoes come off so easily I nearly dropped one of them down "the gap" onto a railway line a couple of months ago.
And wear cotton rather than synthetics.
Just like motor racing
mm. Yes. No melting.
Melting is always bad
Tell that to Arnie.
:D
The latest photos from Austin. (I refuse to say "Circuit of the Americas"...but I guess I just did)
http://on.fb.me/jdM7N4
Looks a lot flatter than I expected
It struck me looking at it that we are going to have an F1 track in the US. There's a loooong way to go, but until now I've only thought of it as an abstraction, not as actually happening, if it does.
Nice to see some optimism
Do you think it's going to come to fruition?
Probably
not sure you should be let off that easily. we relied on you for the salvation of silverstone. what do ya say, yay or nay?
I am sure Jackie Stewart and Damon Hill had something to do with the salvation of Silverstone.
I would be very surprised if Austin did not happen
pah.
noted.
