Hello everyone, I’m sorry for the delay of this post for which I blame Coldplay for. I’m going to have to get this out of the way now, but my goodness I’m one happy and proud Coldplay fan tonight. A perfect mix of old and new. There are no words. Anyway I wont go on about how much I love them for much longer. I do however want to mention that if you like coldplay too, you can buy their new EP on itunes now. Here is a link to the UK itunes for you.

Moving away from music (although please do check out Mr C’s Glastonbury thread for any music talk), lets talk about some Formula 1. Yesterday was of course the European Grand Prix qualifying, the results of which can be found here. I’m sure I’m not alone in hoping that the race is more exciting than qualifying was, but it’s okay because so far this season it has been! Have you got any predictions? Will we see another surprising and brilliant victory or will Vettel simply storm to the finish? Most importantly will we have more than 12 overtaking manoeuvres?

While we are on the subject, have you all entered the latest Go motorsport competition? Today you could win a visit to Williams HQ! Go on, what have you got to loose!

Another important link I must share is about a little sidepodmeetup that’s happening in London this week. Kai is coming all the way from the US to see us (and maybe a few motorsport things too), details can be found here. I do hope we’ll see you there!

Okay, lets move on to a few arty links;

• A lifesize cement VW Beetle has become the latest addition to a new underwater exhibition.. no I’m really not kidding Herbie has gone snorkelling!

• Summer is finally here! Lets celebrate while we can!

Who knew biology could be arty?

• Do you know what else is arty? The hand painted designs on their instruments, their awesome light show and of course the confetti, all of which were features in their amazing set last night! (apologies, I just needed to mention them on more time). You can read a review on their show if you’re wondering why I’ve been making such a big deal of this.

I think I may need to end this daily now, I can only imagine the Coldplay mentions would slowly take over! Enjoy the Formula 1 and Glastonbury action today everyone!

    Morning all,

Anyone else up for the IndyCar race?

  • Bert26/06/2011 at 00:50

Now the announcers are calling out Ron Fellows for having driven too fast under yellow, not "pace car speed". JV in 3rd.

  • Bert26/06/2011 at 00:54

In car replay shows Ron Fellows passing under yellow, not lifting. Was the 32 keeping pace, or at a reasonable speed?

  • Bert26/06/2011 at 00:56

32 - Reed Sorenson (sp?) gets the win. Fellows penalized, sent back.

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 00:58

Am heading to bed now as I don't think I can concentrate on it, will catch up another time.

May or may not miss live F1 too, if I'm out.. will iPlayer as soon as I'm home.

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:06

May have something to do with the poor weather at the circuit

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 01:06

    Vortices off the rear wing

Yup and then the blue flames during pitstops

    That's why I have a week off :)

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:07

Leigh, it's normal to have the level of humidity.

The midwest is suffering from some pretty serious flooding/rains right now. Bad news. looking at historic flooding again this year

  • Steven Roy26/06/2011 at 01:07

    Humidity

    That makes a big difference

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 01:07

Iowa has on average 85% humidity this time of year

*takes note never to move to Iowa.

    I hate humidity.

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 01:08

Yup and then the blue flames during pitstops

    oh, yes. I love it.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:08

    stay away from Florida then.

Only place I've everbeen where it was worse.

And the bugs, OMG the blood sucking bugs.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:08

don't wanna fall asleep outside in FL ever

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:08

Leigh, it's normal to have the level of humidity.

Rainstorm prior to Indy Lights and another one expected during the race time

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 01:09

    stay away from Florida then.

yeah. Florida is not for me, either, for many reasons.

  • Steven Roy26/06/2011 at 01:09

Will Power and Charlie Kimball crash in the pits

havent been following Indy too much lately.

really intrigued by that design they put out for the LMP future car though.

would be awesome to see it racing

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:12

great facilities, tiny tiny track compared to most ovals in this country

    Aye, looks like fun

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:13

really intrigued by that design they put out for the LMP future car though.

Technically the car Indy turned down, and then stole key ideas from

    ;)

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:13

not a bad seat in the house. they moved a metric...****-ton of dirt to make that valley too

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:13

Sato lost out in stops, Briscoe up to P3

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:14

The race was a sell out by the way, unlike last week's disaster at Milwaukee

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:14

Almost bought a lifetime seat about 20 yards up from the s/f once. woulda cost $2,000.

but I could have put it in my will, heh

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:15

unseasonably cold up there this week too

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 01:15

unseasonably cold up there this week too

    How cold?

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:15

should be in the upper 80's this time of night. sun about to set.

    I miss my home state

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:15

well, they're all wearing jackets in the crowd

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:16

    65 in Iowa City

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:16

should be mid 80's right now

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 01:16

    65 in Iowa City

That's not bad, if it gets below 60, it's freezing

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:16

with that humidity, OMG you'd be sweating and sticky

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:17

with the humidity in the 60's it's much colder

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:17

Considering the repaired car, Sato is doing very well - up to P3

  • Steven Roy26/06/2011 at 01:18

    YELLOW

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:18

probably closer to 70 trackside. still chilly with the humidity

  • Steven Roy26/06/2011 at 01:18

    Mike Conway

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:18

    Conway and Bea

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:19

'safer barrier' - F1 needs to be looking into those around some tracks. Much cheaper than some on the options they've embraced for track safety

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:19

Bar Long Beach, this has been tough year for Conway

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 01:19

Incredible debris confetti during that crash.

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:21

'safer barrier' - F1 needs to be looking into those around some tracks. Much cheaper than some on the options they've embraced for track safety

SAFER only really works at some corner angles. They're ideal for ovals, but may be dangerous on street circuits for example.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:21

See that little oval at the s/f? They race some pretty cool 'midget' cars on those. Like little 30's style hot rods, just big enoough for a driver and engine. Cheapest way to get into circle-track racing, aside from karts

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:21

More bad luck for Meira - what does he have to do?

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 01:23

I'm on the email list for the Austin F1 Circuit. They sent me an email asking me to write to the Austin City Council supporting the race so they can get access to a fund that was set up to attract major sporting events to Texas. They would get the funds then pay them back after the race, apparently.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:23

Actually the safer barrier is good all around. Essentially, it's a floating 'armco' with break-away foam pieces behind it that absorb a tremndous amount of energy without bouncing the cars back on track.

Very easy to repair, unlike the big pads that...Perez(?) ran into at Monaco

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:24

Essentially, it's a floating 'armco' with break-away foam pieces behind it that absorb a tremndous amount of energy without bouncing the cars back on track.

It's more to do with the angles a car hits the barrier. You don't get many long sweeping oval-type corners in F1.

They already got the funds, but some...'C' types want to take it back They say they could spend the $$ on other things but this mone was set aside specifically to attract big sporting events.

    politics. ugh.

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:25

The Austin council meeting the other night was a fun one for nutjobs on both sides

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 01:25

They already got the funds, but some...'C' types want to take it back They say they could spend the $$ on other things but this mone was set aside specifically to attract big sporting events.

The email didn't mention anything about that, just that the meeting was put off.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:25

Leigh, they're most effective on the infield area, where a car might shoot head-on into the inner wall after getting sideways.

It deflects the energy from any angle. The problem is acute corners, but they've got solutions for those too.

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:26

like I said, politics. It's not lying if they don't mention it at all. the way things work these days, no?

F1 being co-opted by local/regional politics yet again. makes me sad people can't just enjoy the sport like we do

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:27

Wow - the Indy 500 winner getting a celebration at home and at Disney World, but hasn't got a drive...

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:28

    Power in again

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:29

I've got a few friend in Austin and they're pretty sick of it from both sides. Meanwhile, we all just want an American F1 race again.

I mean, it's my money, too (it's subsidized by FED infrastructure dollars too, but not directly. this is a big project)

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 01:29

Everyone may want to rethink ordering pizza from Papajohns, it just got here, definetly more than 30 min

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:29

Once I get some dosh I'm going to make a trip to the track site. Promise I'll take some pics

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:30

They really need to suss out shorter cautions in this sport.

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 01:30

F1 being co-opted by local/regional politics yet again. makes me sad people can't just enjoy the sport like we do

I'll bet that the local politicians are wondering why a track is being built for Indycars. I bet they have no concept of F1 and it's reach

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:31

In other news...Texas Governor has proposed laws banning the TSA from doing their job (physical searches) at the airports. The TSA has threatened to stop all operations at Texas airports if the law gets traction.

So you could fly into Texas, but not out of Texas. Talk about shooting your economy in the foot.

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:32

I'll bet that the local politicians are wondering why a track is being built for Indycars. I bet they have no concept of F1 and it's reach

Shhhh... don't say that to Eddie Gossage

    :)

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:32

If that were to pass, nobody from the F1 race would be able to fly out of Texas. I can imagine how well that would go over in international circles.

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:33

Marco needs to get out of that team.

If that were to pass, nobody from the F1 race would be able to fly out of Texas. I can imagine how well that would go over in international circles.

It'll be like the race back from China last year all over again

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:34

Same as with AMerican support of a space program. we're looking backwards in time at this point when we should be sprinting forward into the future.

But it's cool. I ride my bicycle a lot...I'm ready for horse-drawn buggies again.

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:34

    Green this time

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:34

I know right? doesn't it sound absurd?

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 01:34

I'm wondering what is up with them since the report Andretti Autosport is going NASCAR. He has little talent, but showcase his lack for 38 races a season, jeez

    I could get behind Porsche.

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 01:44

    freaking yikes!

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:45

    ouch

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:45

    Safer barriers there.

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 01:45

    ouch

And with his back injury, that's not going to help.

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 01:46

TK said on the radio he has nothing for Dario tonight, he's just in it for points. Didn't ask for any changes to the car in the pits.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:46

see the white bits behind the wall? each one of those is like a styrofoam pyramid behind the 'wall' backed by fence post-like anchors that are designed to break away if hit hard enough.

    would be a serious situation

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 01:47

TK reporting he has nothing for Dario....We need some unforeseen incident. Where's Milka when you need her

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:47

(I watched them build the walls. I'm a geek)

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:48

dose that nose look strange or is it just me?

  • Sebastian X26/06/2011 at 01:48

    Castroneves back on lead lap.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:48

yeah it wasn't n correctly. was all 'wth?'

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 01:49

dose that nose look strange or is it just me?

There's four attachment points, I saw then Penske's up like that in St. Pete, I guess when they are just moving the car around

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:49

'I'll be needing a fresh firesuit on the next stop, please'

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:50

    HI MOM!

lol I probably know a few dozen ppl in the crowd there.

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 01:50

    Come on Taku.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:51

This commercial break is one of the reasons I detst the Speed F1 coverage. They don't even do inserts when spamming their 'male enhancement' drugs

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:51

I love how they do side-by-side during yellows, but don't both when they break for some green periods

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:51

Leigh, welcome to ad-centric broadcasting. should probably get used to it

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:52

Leigh, welcome to ad-centric broadcasting. should probably get used to it

I've been watching IndyCar / CART for over 15 years. I'm used to it, but I will always complain - sadly I couldn't find French TV feed tonight

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:52

BBC knows what it's doing with their current setup. I'll take it any day over this stuff

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 01:54

If you hate these ads, wait until the F1 race on Fox tommorrow, it's running commerical for Fox's up coming shows

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:54

If you hate these ads, wait until the F1 race on Fox tommorrow, it's running commerical for Fox's up coming shows

    I'll stick with BBC thanks

    ;)

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:55

For those wondering, French TV broadcast the ABC / Versus races, but don't take any ad breaks - it's lovely when I can get it

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 01:55

    I'll stick with BBC thanks

I like the SpeedTV guys, but I wish BBC America broadcast F1

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:56

    Go Taku

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:57

I like the SpeedTV guys, but I wish BBC America broadcast F1

the crew itself is alright (matchett and old Hobbsy are getting a bit dated) but the fact that NewsCorp can't spring for more than one on-track personality is retarded, considering the massive production that is every sprint cup broadcast.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 01:58

Joe, is the FOX broadcast delayed in FL? It's delayed 4+ hours here in NM

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 01:59

Saavedra in the barrier. What a shame Conquest dumped a good driver to take on this guy...

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 01:59

Joe, is the FOX broadcast delayed in FL? It's delayed 4+ hours here in NM

    Same in CT

You can't help but love Hobbs. Of course, we could go back to the Peter Winsor days, actually Peter was pretty cool, before he decided to be a team princpal

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 02:00

    Same in CT

    Yeah, noon

Absolutely! If I had one commentary to listen to, it would b speed. For a while, up here in Canada, they were not blacked out. For a couple of years they have be verboten. I actually find alternate sources to get a hold of the quali feeds for Speed and BBC, just to listen to.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:00

    Same in CT

    Yeah, noon

    :/

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 02:00

Hmmm... Seb's still in the car

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 02:01

    Same in CT

No live commenting for us tomorrow, then. :(

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 02:02

Joe, is the FOX broadcast delayed in FL? It's delayed 4+ hours here in NM

No big deal. I have to get to work, sign off on the drugs, catch a nap, avoid my computer and then watch alot of commercials interspaced with racing

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:02

Matchetts 'chalktalk' segments are sorely lacking in actual depth.

Last time I he said something about skipping the intro to get into the talk...then talked about how he was skipping the intro to get to the details. While talking about not wasting time about wasting time. I was really annoyed

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:03

Great shots of the safer barrier in action there.

You can literally see the impact forces rippling through the wall away from the impact point

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 02:03

Hmmm... Seb's still in the car

Stabilizing his neck at first, but he seems okay now. He's out of the car now, but looks shaken up.

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 02:04

No live commenting for us tomorrow, then. :(

I feel like I want to be around, though, seeing as I'll be in the UK in 2 days.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:04

Pella windows and doors ad on the walls. Top-notch manufacturing facilities about 30 miles from the track. Went on a tour of the place in my engineering class back in the day

  • Bert26/06/2011 at 02:04

Does Speed still start the quali amd race sessions "late"? From what I remember the quali show would start on-the-hour (vs. 8 minutes to the hour), which means that live timing was useless. They do the same thing currently for MotoGP. It's Uber GRRRRRRRRR.

    Indy: TK PO-ed with TS.

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 02:05

I feel like I want to be around, though, seeing as I'll be in the UK in 2 days.

I find the Speed broadcast is delayed a bit, so on live commenting I read about stuff before it happens.

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 02:05

    TK not happy with Taku...?

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 02:05

Will Power just dropped an S- bomb

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:05

I feel like I want to be around, though, seeing as I'll be in the UK in 2 days.

Just watch the live stream. Blame FOM if you feel guilty about not watching the 'approved' broadcast.

I mean, who really needs to watch a live sporting event...live?

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 02:06

Will Power just dropped an S- bomb

    Don't blame him

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 02:06

Will Power just dropped an S- bomb

Yeah, and he seems kind of out of it.

He also mentioned the pits and how they always mess up there.

  • Bert26/06/2011 at 02:06

Will Power just dropped an S- bomb

Power is punch drunk and I perhaps he will find himself Moldonaded in a few weeks. Certainly doesn't seem his chipper self.

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 02:07

    Don't blame him

No, I'm a grown-up, I can handle it. Nice to see real emotion, unlike other sports

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 02:07

Just watch the live stream. Blame FOM if you feel guilty about not watching the 'approved' broadcast.

I can't usually find one that's not geo-locked and I haven't set up the other one yet.

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 02:07

No, I'm a grown-up, I can handle it. Nice to see real emotion, unlike other sports

    Same here.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:07

    Steven, you still around?

Mr. quick-draw on the links, dont wanna steal your thunder

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:08

You all must really like Tony Stewart then.

He gets a lot of flack for saying what he thinks, but I think he's pretty cool. Doesn't play well with others

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 02:08

Mr. quick-draw on the links, dont wanna steal your thunder

I have Steven's links, but every time I've checked them in the past they've been geo-locked.

I'll just see if I'm up at 8am and if I am I'll check, otherwise I need sleep.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:09

probably why I liked the seat swap with LH so much. Two dudes who walk that fine edge of playing ball and saying what they think

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 02:09

You all must really like Tony Stewart then.

Don;t mind him. I like drivers that are not motionless, but I don't like snotty idiots either

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:09

Kai, go to a proxy service like anonymouse (spelled wrong probably) and then try the streaming links.

R u on comcas or verizon?

cool. I went through that struggle a few years ago, and I vowed to not let some corporate censorship stop me from enjoying something I've pretty much paid for already

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:12

mmm drinking some homemade plum wine the same color as the sunset. another gorgeous day

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:12

5th gear. would think they'd shorten the other ratios a bit

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 02:12

I'd so much rather watch on my tv than on my little laptop, but sometimes it's worth it.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:13

Speaking of, the new F1 regs that they have to designate the ratios for the whole season - just one set of gears for the entire season. I mean...impossible?

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 02:13

WIth Marco involved I expect this to end in tears.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:13

    holding my breath here

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 02:14

WIth Marco involved I expect this to end in tears.

Of course, it'll be blamed on someone else

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 02:14

Speaking of, the new F1 regs that they have to designate the ratios for the whole season - just one set of gears for the entire season. I mean...impossible?

    Never heard that.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:14

Kai, do you have a newer TV at all? doesn't take much to port the video out to your newer HD or flatscreen

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 02:14

Of course, it'll be blamed on someone else

    Given.

  • Bert26/06/2011 at 02:14

Speaking of, the new F1 regs that they have to designate the ratios for the whole season - just one set of gears for the entire season. I mean...impossible?

I think there are two. You can use one, then change. You can never use both and once you have changed, that's it.

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 02:14

Kai, do you have a newer TV at all? doesn't take much to port the video out to your newer HD or flatscreen

True. Another thing I haven't had time to do. :)

Yes, I just got it last fall.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:15

Leigh, in the '13 or '14 regs along with the new(er) engine specs.

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 02:16

Leigh, in the '13 or '14 regs along with the new(er) engine specs.

That makes absolutely no sense at all. A silly rule if implemented

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:16

not too hard. might have to buy a decent HDMI or S video cable. Some older newish TV's even have a VGA input - the same as your old school pc monitor would have had

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 02:17

    Wohhhhhhhhhhh.... that was close

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 02:17

not too hard. might have to buy a decent HDMI or S video cable. Some older newish TV's even have a VGA input - the same as your old school pc monitor would have had

Marco and Sato. That is a crash waiting to happen.

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 02:17

This is easily the best oval race so far this year

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 02:17

Marco and Sato. That is a crash waiting to happen.

    I agree.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:17

That makes absolutely no sense at all. A silly rule if implemented

I think the intent is to make the KERS system more influential in the overall performance.

That extra HP would make taller gears a lot more practical

  • Joe in Fla26/06/2011 at 02:17

Marco and Sato. That is a crash waiting to happen.

Prefer to see Marco-Dario, so we see a new winner

not too hard. might have to buy a decent HDMI or S video cable. Some older newish TV's even have a VGA input - the same as your old school pc monitor would have had

    Decent HDMI = 5$ 10$ max. Monster = robbery.

VGA, make sure th TV you buy supports 1080 on the VGA in. Even new TVs may not support 1080 on the VGA input.

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:18

    Very tight track...

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 02:18

    Marco leads!!

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 02:19

    Dario's pushing hard

I am a Dario and Ganassi fan so I beg to differ.

"Marco's a very clean race car driver"????

Is he referring to his showering habits?? He crashes every race.

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 02:19

    Dario takes it back

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:19

Sorry Bob, but the Texas race was not a good'un (sadly)

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:21

But it's always someone else's fault...

wouldn't be a proper race driver if it was his fault would he?

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 02:21

But it's always someone else's fault...

    hehe

Dan Wheldon said it in the booth.

yes and no. Sometimes you may want to throw a 700X400 or 900X650 to the screen and gt stuck with crappy off-resolution resizing or forced native resolution reduction in area. My 1 year old Pana G25 only does 1200X1000 (ish) on the VGA.

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 02:22

And looks like Wheldon has a job now with Bryan Herta

I know...we've got a nice setup out here though. We cut the sat/cable stuff and replaced it with an HD atenna and a tuner card in a quad core machine usually used for virtual serving.

I've been getting my media from the net for a couple years now so it's liek nirvana for me.

Yep. It's good, but it's a story that's been told by so many people so many times, there wasn't anything new in it.

  • Leigh O'Gorman26/06/2011 at 02:37

You can get it on Netflix

serious? I've been trawling 'flix for new stuff and haven't seen it. I would have dropped everything if I had.

Such a busy race weekend, will have to watch on monday. The only copies I could find via torrent were not subtitled at all

serious? I've been trawling 'flix for new stuff and haven't seen it. I would have dropped everything if I had.

Someone screwed up there and put it on the streaming feed. It only lasted a few days, but I saw it once. Now it's only available on mail order

  • gravit826/06/2011 at 02:42

thanks for pointing that out Joe

why I missed it I guess. Another example of how skewed American priorities are when it comes to racing.

If it was Dale Earnhardt docu, it's be in the ad's we're watching right now

Yeah, some other podcast said basically the same. I regularly look at local listings to see when it comes out. Given that my "local listings" are montreal,I am fully expecting a elease here. I heard something, somewhere, that it may be an Aug 11 release.

Shame that Kubica might not be coming back, don't know if they'd want to drop Petrov with the money he brings in.

Spose it also reignites Hamilton to Red Bull rumours.

    Hi guys,

I know you're all in the race thread, but I need some help with a GarageBand question. I need to email an mp3 file in 48kHz. How do I do that? I haven't been able to locate that option when I go to Share>Send Song to iTunes.

When I look at the Properties of my recording in iTunes once I export it, it's at 44.1 kHz.

Do I need to re-record with a new setting? How do I do that?

Thanks for any help you can give. I'm on a deadline with this and working to sort it out asap.

    To DM me, I'm @AndersFinn.

Hello. What an awesome day to be out on the golf course, I have gone red with the sun. Had a lovely pint of cider in the bar afterwards which had BBC News on the telly so I saw the news report of the race, normally this would make me really angry and frustrated at missing a GP, but I've got to be honest, after seeing who won and the margin, I wasn't at all bothered at having missed it. Not many races in 2011 you can say that about I reckon, the other might be Hungary.

Went to Mum's afterwards for a cup of tea. Nice day.

Hi Pat. It does sound like a great day. I feel the same way about missing it. I was dealing with the audio file stuff and now that I've finally submitted it I'm packing and hoping I get an email with happy news about the demo.

You got it sent off okay? I just looked back at the Daily and saw you had troubles.

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 19:00

You got it sent off okay? I just looked back at the Daily and saw you had troubles.

I did. I managed to convert it to 48kHz in iTunes, bu that changed it to a .wav, so I used a converter to change it back to an mp3. Now my fingers are crossed. I'm waiting to hear back.

  • MartiV826/06/2011 at 19:00

    Evening :)

    Hi

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 19:07

I'm watching "Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman" series. It's good, but I have such internet ADD now that I had to keep rewinding it to understand what he was saying about black holes being holograms and 2D all at once. I just watched "The Riddle of Black Holes", now "What Are We Really Made Of?".

    And I'm packing...and checking my email...and commenting...

  • Lukeh26/06/2011 at 19:12

    And I'm packing...and checking my email...and commenting...

Have you got any off me? I've had a lot of problems emailing people today and I don't think any has sent to anyone :(

    Gaaahh. Flipping gmail.

I'll try and send it again but if it's still playing up I'll talk about it on Wednesday. what a cool end to that sentence, knowing in a few days time sidepodpeople will be able to meet you! :D

Aww, yeah! We've never been able to say "We can talk about it when I see you"!!!!! Wow! We have to take any opportunities this week to say "see you tomorrow". :D

Amazing. Now that work is almost finished, I'm starting to get excited.

Good but a tad recycled... they redid the rally car vs sled race but with Amy Williams vs the new Mini WRC.

I've got a pair of old walking shoes/boots which I hardly ever wear because the insides are falling apart and they aren't all that comfortable, but despite all the walking, I'll be wearing those :)

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 21:57

oh my, what a treasure trove of information! Thanks everyone. They stay at home.

Oh, and style question. Does anyone where capri pants there? They're huge here, but I wasn't sure about there.

    Yeah, that's my main question.

I'll bring one pair in case it's really hot.

  • Alison26/06/2011 at 22:09

I'll bring one pair in case it's really hot.

It's been over 25 degrees here today and so so humid like condensation running down the windows. If I hadn't been at work, I'd have had a dress on for sure.

For example, I haven't brought a jacket to work with me for about a month now. It's not cold. Just the rain to watch out for.

    DMs are a good choice

  • Kai26/06/2011 at 22:11

Yeah, but those are my walking/hiking Patagonias. The DM's are not as comfy but are as heavy.

You'll be fine if it's warm. As we've said, it's changeable but not so much on a daily basis.

We're also quite obsessed with weather and the reporting of it. I think I have at least 3 weather apps :D

On Saturday at 4pm I left home in the pouring rain and it was getting dark. 10 minutes later I had to put sunglasses on because I could barely see to drive. 15 minutes later I had to take the sunglasses off again because I couldn't see.

It may not be changeable on a daily basis in the deep south but it changes every few minutes here

I'm glad you have this issue. I gave a couple of colleagues a lift the other day and they were making a huge deal of me wearing sunglasses to drive. It's not an odd thing I don't think....

Not odd to wear sunglasses when driving. I can't do it though, find my eyes much better at adapting at changeable light/dark/light/dark past the trees..

This is true, there has to be at least three or four at Terminal 5

  • Pat W26/06/2011 at 22:40

You can have the passenger seat or the back seat, your choice

    Let her drive

First UK driving experience being in London, that would be fun :)

    Scary enough for provincials..

It's the M25. All you need to be able to do is plant your right foot on the accelerator for 30 seconds and keep a watch on what is happening 50 cars ahead so you can slam on the brakes and slow to 15 mph
