Hello there, it's Christine again, I'm standing in for the lovely Lou
As our favourite photography lass has some university work to do
Whilst I'm waiting for this week's debrief to export I have found the time
To make this special for Ms Lou and get it all to rhyme
First off, let's start with Big Picture because it's really rather good
Sam Michael talks technology and Williams talk food
Meanwhile Sergio Perez has taken his Sauber to Mexico
Ted was there taking notes and pictures, what a long way to go!
In Guadalajara to film Sergio Perez street run. He'll make F1 massive in Mexico. Pics later.
And here's the promised picture of Sergio showing off his car
A mass of fans showed up, 200,000 to cheer on their new star

Credit: @TedKravitz/Twitpic
Sergio Perez wows the crowds in Guadalajara
He completed two great stints to give the crowds a taste of Formula One
Fifteen minutes on each, a brilliant demonstration run
On to other things, yesterday we watched Crashed Ice
In Moscow it was minus 20 degrees, which doesn't sound too nice
Later on, we missed Match of the Day, and NASCAR was on as well
There's clearly far too much sport on, as near as I can tell
In non F1-news, last time I wrote we talked live streams
And Amazon Prime members getting all the TV of their dreams
Speculation now arises that they could get Kindles for free
And whilst I don't desire the device, how cool would that be?
The Debrief, it has finished, why not head over and check it out
We thought it would be short but there's always lots to talk about!
I'd better wrap this up because by golly, it's past midnight
I'll see you in the comments, and hope your Sunday is sunny and bright!
what an awesome daily. Wow!
Just awesomeness.
To sum up this daily I'm going to say its super-duper-unbelievably-fantastic-sensationally-unique-terrific-marvellous-awesome.
Oh and I hope its wet and miserable, not sunny and bright, I hate the latter on match days.
Great daily Christine. Love the rhyming.
-20 is not cold for Moscow. It gets to -30 in the winter
♥ ♥ ♥ this is awesome! :) Thanks for covering Christine. Listening to the podcast now as i write up my photography. If i end up putting a formula 1 reference in there i blame you ;)
Love the rhyming Daily
If you want more racing after the NASCAR, there is a World Superbike race live from Phillip Island in Australia in ten minutes (first race of two this weekend). I'm going to skip that though.
The steering wheels aren't that bad. I don't know why drivers are so worried about them.
hehe!
:)
time for bed I think anyways, night guys!
night
I sometimes wonder when the teams will see sense and simply stuff QUERTY keyboards on the wheels, since by this point every driver is likely to be more familiar with one than they ever will be with the ever-changing interface that currently is known as the F1 on-wheel dashboard...
4,000 miles today. How is it only 8:30? :)
Hi guys.
Had to change my name
Did the flight go better this time
How was the trip back?
Hello! Good to hear you've got back :)
hehe
Yes, somewhat. But I got to fly TO Prague with a youth orchestra and....wait for it....BACK with them! The girl behind me wouldn't stop hitting the seat for the last 4 hours, even when I asked her to (that's probably why she kept doing it), the tv in the seat stopped working after the first 3 hours of a 9 hour flight, and....well, just don't fly Delta.
Vince Welch who we just saw in the NASCAR pits for ESPN (and does same for their IndyCar races), has just tweeted to congratulate Kevin Lee for getting a similar job for Versus IndyCar coverage.
Rumours have been floating around the twittersphere for the last week that Versus are shaking up their on-air 'talent' now NBC is involved. Jack Arute could be gone.
At least I didn't have a drunk couple next to me this time.
Did you not turn around and provide an evil glare?
What are the chances of having the same orchestra on 2 flights?
Several. And I even asked her to please stop hitting the seat so much, then I finally ripped the earphones out of my ears after I had been sitting up straight in my seat to avoid touching my back to it and I turned around and said I couldn't sit up any further. I couldn't. The lady in front of me had put her seat alllll the way back. Oy.
I don't know. It was band geek heaven. (hell for teachers on vacation)
You should have offered to swap seats and kicked lumps out of her back
I could've threatened her with 'my Scottish friend' who won't take kindly to this....
:D
I can't believe I just spent the week in Prague.
You have been Bassano'd
Yeah, but it's taken on a new dimension, I think, because I didn't drink. It involves a lot of laughing.
And headpings work in person and with friends who are there, too. I would think of something and one of them would say it moments later, and vice versa. It was cool.
Gets more like the Borg every day
you're back home? that was the fastest week in memory, didn't you just leave?
It was quick. Last Sunday to this Saturday. I know I did it 'cause I'm in bed and it's 9:00.
I am sooo happy to be home. It's true that you don't know what you've got till it's gone.
I need to go to sleep. I'll update the blog and catch up with you all properly tomorrow.
Thanks for such a nice welcome home. :)
Goodnight and sweet dreams!
Good night and try not to wake up at 4am
night, sure you'll sleep for ages, travelling is tiring!
it's sunday and sunday dailies should feature a podcast from the archive, so i'm going to add a late addition via the comments.
i've just learned via @scobleizer that recording artist and podsafe music pioneer derek k. miller is fighting a loosing battle with cancer. he's blogging about things here: http://www.penmachine.com/2011/02/little-less-each-day
the link to sidepodcast is we've used derek's songs in the past, most notably in our canada preview video from a few years back. so my podcast from the archives today is this one featuring 'Fresh Snow in the Valley':
http://sidepodcast.com/post/video-6-canada-preview
hope you can listen and enjoy at some point.
Sleep for me too, catch you sometime Sunday
Night Pat
night chap
it took a whole hour but hair cut is done! It feels so swishy.
Anything dramatic or just a trim? I love getting my hair cut, feels so full afterwards.
just a trim but my hair dresser insists on spending 45 minutes straightening before she cuts. I don't mind, its about the only time i wear it straight!
Can we see a photo? I don't think I've seen you with straight hair, have I?
Good question!
It's time to be cheerful... If you're looking for a reason here's one: Reasons to be cheerful – Part 7 http://bit.ly/eaDsk3
You appear to be missing parts 5 and 6. :)
Another reason: today's weather forecast was for heavy shower, today's actual weather is bright sunshine. :) I'm off for a round of golf.
Morning all!
Ooh yay :)
Hurrah :)
Oh noes I've made a terrible error...
I had a couple of weeks of cheerful posts lined up... And I've accidentally published part 7 when I meant to publish part 5...
So should I make part 7 part 5 and distroy all of the links? Or should I post 5 and 6 in future weeks?
Or as my friend Nick suggested on the phone (in a really sneaky way) claim that the 3 scan photos from part 4 were actually reasons 4, 5 and 6?
I'd make Part 7 part 5, and then put the links in at the end of the new part 7 as a supplement.
This is a tricky one.
I turn to you Christine... You're my only hope.
But if I make 7 part 5 the link will break, unless I just change the title but leave the link which says part 7...
I think I am favouring this one, but what links are broken?
Or do you mean that I should just release all of the parts now... Then have a link at the bottom of the new part 7 that says, you may not have realised I have actually published 2 more of these here's the link to 5 and 6?
Change title and leave the link be. You can always name the part 7 link "therealpart7" or something...
the link currently ends with http://gamboling.co.uk/2011/02/27/reasons-to-be-cheerful-part-7/
So if I change it to end part-5 then the bitly links etc will all be wrong.
No, I mean make the already-published part 7 part 5 and re-number your other links accordingly. The parts 5 and 6 links go at the end of part 7 to help navigation.
Oh, yes, I see. Hmmmmmm.
And some other sites have already linked to part 7.
Assuming your blog platform allows the title and link to be altered separately, leave the link called that and simply re-title.
Okay, so seven has to stay at seven.
In which case, I either favour publishing the other ones, and perhaps writing a note or another post saying - oops, hey look at these too.
Or the 4,5,6 on the photos, which is actually quite cute :)
oh dear.
No, no, no, that is the absolute last resort.
backdate the missing ones and pretend they were there all along.
But I don't think Christine will like it... Being part 5 but with a link that says part 7... It's like wearing odd shoes...
Yes. I won't tell anyone.
Why?
Can I wait the next two weeks to do that... Or do I have to make today especially cheerful?
Hehe, I'm okay with waiting.
:) :) :)
Phew :)
I did think that I could really add to the time travel nature by making a new part 6 that was the story of this and saying a reason to be cheerful was finally having everything back in the right order.
breaking links breaks the web. urls are absolute and should remain that way if at all possible.
Yea, that's what Alia is saying. But I wouldn't be happy with a title of 5 and a url of 7.
oooh, no. don't do that either. what do you url for 7 then?
7-2? yikes no.
That's why I suggested changing the title without changing the URL (i.e. re-titling). Both of the blogging platforms I've used can do that.
Exactly. It's not so bad if it's words that are different, but numbers is something else entirely.
"therealpart7" or something.
And that's fair... Ontological representation in urls has been hard fought for for a reason. The url should represent what it's pointing at.
IamPart74Real ;)
And with URL shortening, the battle appears to have been lost. Apart from the root part of a website, it's still relatively rare for a link to match its contents.
Twitter has a lot to answer for :)
And altering the subject, I've just had a text message asking me what I'm doing for my birthday because Teamworks Karting is doing a "free-karting-for-birthday-girl-if-she-brings-10-friends" deal...
i found a chorus for giggles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaQCfp-aWCg
*hugs*
not true of sidepodcast, f1 minute etc. we take it quite seriously.
hehehe
I'm not sure I follow? Because of the mistake with the link?
A lot of the other websites I visit don't, and some blogging platforms (PHPbb, for example) still render ontological naming impossible. Even my current platform (Blogbaker) struggles to come up with a resemblance because it doesn't appear to be able to generate long URLs.
Is that Part 7 in Lewis-speak or part 74?
cause you've caused chaos by posted them in the wrong order.
shame. even posterous mostly does a good job, but it runs out of characters eventually: http://sidepodcast.posterous.com/we-should-maybe-think-about-more-nascar-cover
Right got you... But I've fixed it all now :)
So... I have this response for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNSgIMQ0L2s
*hugs*
hehehe!
That is the best song ever!
It only came out on Feb 24th I have played it quite a few times since then :)
To put this into perspective, BlogBaker appears to have a limit of 18 characters, substituting spaces for hyphens and removing all other punctuation. So this page would be:
http://www.sidepodcast.com/daily-27th-februar
which would be a problem because that would be overwritten by whatever was written this time next year unless you were clever.
agreed. not good.
we wrote our own content management system for f1 minute over christmas and super long urls were top of the list.
So... Lovely people... I need to do another Giggles Radio Test broadcast this afternoon... Will some people be around for 15-30 mins at around 5:30 ish?
ooh, can we sync it with a factbyte factbox test too please?
It's really important... In the CMS I wrote at work you can have multiple urls as well in case you make a mistake you don't have to destroy the old one. The page has an ultimate primary url but keeps the old one as a redirect.
Absolutely... Sounds great... Do I need to do anything extra? Or do you want to change the time or anything?
nope, that's perfect ta.
perfect
Unfortunately the majority of bloggers aren't in a position to host a custom CMS...
Lovely daily poem Christine. :)
Absolutely. :)
Hello. How are we all?
Must dash outside for a moment. Off in search of paint and brushes and stuff.
Fine, thank you. I can smell some lovely pasta being cooked for lunch :)
Artwork?
brilliant. we're fixing the internet.
Lunch...oh lordy. Cheese on toast it will have to be. Thanks Alia!
About time somebody did! (I may have had some more colourful language unsuitable for this place)
Walls.
Concept artwork then. :P
Hey, I'm up. Thanks timezone discombobulation. That means I can get stuff done today to reacquaint myself with the U.S.
I didn't know I liked the US so much underneath all my railing against the stuf that drives me nuts.
if she paints "your logo could be here" on the wall, i'm leaving.
ROFL!
stuff, even.
At least I didn't pre-medidate-photoshop that
It's home. We like home as a general rule.
Hello BTW, good holiday?
Just the undercoat...
:)
Apparently at the Carlton Club at the moment there is some renovation being done on some of the paintings. The paintings are so old they have been cut out of the frames to be fixed but the frames have been left.
So you have these ornate gold frames surrounding some brick work, Apparently on one of them some wag has stuck on the wall, "This work has been graciously provided on loan from the Tate Modern".
I thought I wanted a new home, now I'm not sure I do.
Hi TM. Very educational, fun, cold and adventurous holiday. And I did a mini-meetup with Bassano and his fun friend! It was excellent!!
Mini-meetups with Bassano are always excellent, though when I'm involved usually leave me the worse for alcohol.
Wait, Bassano is really fun too, they're both fun. We had fun. Oh dear. That all came out wrong. You know what I mean, geesh. I was on a plane for 9 hours, in airports for 4 and driving for 2 yesterday. Please be kind.
Lonely Planet Prague has an update today, maybe that would have helped me when I was there???
Always. ;)
Although before you pointed that out I hadn't thought of it any other way.
Yeah you already got it, of course, and I didn't need to explain. I did assume that everyone here knows and is well acquainted with what a good time it is to hang out with Bassano, so I was adding in that his buddy was great, too. :) Yeah, it's early here on a Sunday.
What timezone you in Kai?
What timezone isn't she in? ;)
SidePodTime.
I have laundry to do and delicious, homemade gluten free apple pancakes to make that I have been looking forward to for a few days now, so I'll be popping in and out of the comments today. It really is so good to be home.
Oh, and I just looked outside, and it snowed last night! I guess I do bring it around the world with me. :)
I'm in CT, USA at the moment, so eastern standard, but not totally yet. :)
Oh, now I have the hankering to do some wheat-free shortbread.
do it! G-free revolution! (or just a yummy snack). :)
More like something to share if my mother gets hungry (wheat-intolerant).
Easy enough to do, been years since I've done it, but you gotta get the measure right for the wheat-flour substitute.
Nice.
Yeah, balance is key.
Not just that, wheat-flour replacements (gram flour etc) often need less than it says in a recipe.
I just checked my playlist on my DVR for the week. *claps*
It's the little things and ease of being home that I love.
Hello all, how are we today?
Crisps, peanuts & chocolate cake for breakfast. Post birthday catering ;)
See you in a weeks time after catching up on everything then :)
Morning janna
Sounds good! hehe
Morning, sounds lush! :D
Off to do the unthinkable - lunch consisting of thick-cut cheese on toast.
badgergp have recently moved their website to the uk. i used to have trouble loading posts and pages on the old one, but the new site is v.quick. have a look here: http://badgergp.com/
Oooh, definitely a lot faster.
it is, now i can read and plug tedNews :)
http://badgergp.com/2011/02/ted-kravitz/
Was just reading that. Sounds like he has some really interesting features coming up in 2011.
Mr C...
On the Giggles Radio Test front... I want to test a number of techy bits which might be less well suited for FactByteFactBoxing part at first because I'll be wanting to stop and start the stream and change settings and things. This will be the first test of streaming from Wirecast and over Virgin. (Still to ustream though) and there is a chance to do a low bandwidth simultaneous stream as well for those who have buffering.
So how about I run the very techy test, probably with no music 5-5:30 and then at 5:30 we kick off with a mini show of 30 mins which will test that the stuff can keep running and doesn't get in the way?
But none of this gets in the way of FBFBing really but I didn't want Christine to get all disappointed at the first half of the testing if you see what I mean so I figured it would be best to be forewarned of the plan (such as it is ;) ).
sounds good.
beans :)
I may be 8 hours late since I was too busy to be in the comments today but
I didn't take a photo and now I'm in bed! I shall wear it straight to lunch on Sunday (yes I am free on Sunday ;))
I'm gonna assume Pamela isn't here now though since its almost 1am and shes back at work tomorrow :D
a commenting update from joe: http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2011/02/27/discussions-over/
Glad he decided to keep it open but he makes some fair points, the comments can get a bit silly at times. Not sure if I agreed with the GP+ thing either that was being brought up.
i just think there must be better things for joe to do with his time than moderate comments.
I didn't dare look too much at the comments from the previous post floating the idea of pay-only comments. I still get the feeling that the way Joe's going he's going to have no commenting permitted by the end of the year, or very restricted commenting.
#needsanintern
yup!
The GP+ thing would perhaps have helped by meaning he'd only have to maintain one database to verify whether someone could use certain things.
Can't he just get someone to help admin with his comments though? It's a shame he has to put up with a widespread amount of nonsense but maybe having someone to help him when he has far better things to do may help...?
this :)
Admins cost money, so if he did that he'd probably have to charge for commenting privileges anyway...
Is it wrong i now finally have all of muse's albums now as the album itself and as an official instrumental album? *happy clap*
Sometimes it's just nice to listen to bits of songs you may not hear behind the vocals... #myexcuse
afternoon everyone
Look like some major booty may have gone missing from the A1GP Series, or so the Serious Fraud Squad think.
Hello, what have I been signed up for now? http://factbytefactbox.com/live
:)
Woo!
I knew a test session would be fbfb's at some point... kind of... :)
hehe. we cover the tests autosport leave behind.
A series desperate for relevance...
http://www.autogp.org/en/news.php?id=0284
:)
I can't believe they have ignored this landmark testing session
That countdown clock is a bit intimidating ;)
Here's pic of Bassano and I in a giant chair that someone made and put antlers on. (some things are odd in Prague)
https://picasaweb.google.com/106400214729093018812/DancingBuildingAndCharlesBridge?authkey=Gv1sRgCM666ork-O_FWQ#slideshow/5578404178234089938
I was laughing, as usual. I haven't laughed so much in a long time. It was sooo needed.
That is a giant chair!
There were 2 of them. I guess if you're going to make one....
The giant must have a friend.
Not all giants are the fee fi foe kind. Some have friends over.
czech people must be giantific :)
:)
Hello.
Also... oww me feet hurt.
How did you get on today?
Did the sun stay out for you?
A draw! On handicap that is. We were both as bad as each other. :)
It was quite windy though, and there was the odd rain and hail shower. Huddled under a brolly for a while. Then the next ten minutes would be lovely sunshine, really weird day.
We've had that here. Crazy weather.
:) :)
One brolly each, not both trying to get under one
Not like lou's mega Honda brolly at Spa then :)
Although golf brollies are the enormous ones.
I just think brollie is a great word. :)
Brolly is such an odd word now I keep saying it in my head.
Brolly.
oh, brolly. Singular. My bad.
Try that with 'about'. It goes weird quickly for me.
No I had the same one I had then, because I forgot I had a separate golf one. I've got the wrong one all dirty now. It'll wash off.
And now there isn't a cloud in the sky. :)
Meanwhile I'm off to shower and find dry clothes.
Anyone know anything about this? I don't ever remember it being mentioned but Joe says the Renault engine is going to be rebrabded Infinit for Red Bull
http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2011/02/27/red-bull-to-infiniti-and-beyond/
He mentioned it a few weeks ago but I must say I never saw the logic. I mean, I see the logic in using another brand to keep it distinct from Renault, but not that one because AFAIK it is only available in North America (maybe Japan). Also Nissan is into GT racing now.
And surely Renault want a title-winning engine.
I think that's a normal size chair and you guys are just really small :)
Heh :)
hehe
news to me. how does it save red bull money?
that looks cold!
Ping: http://www.f1bigpicture.com/news/big-boost
Very.
I'm having some fun trying to set up the shot... Currently I'm somewhere between echoing or silence
fbfb is live...
okay to go in 14 minutes :) :)
meany!
phew just found an important option!
So have you got an embedded video player somewhere... or are we doing things in separate windows?
we don't a post, nope. can do if you need one?
I don't need one I don't think...
So it's possible that I'm live somewhere...
I can see you :)
I can't go and look I don't think....
But yes on the ustream page it might be live
here http://www.ustream.tv/channel/alexandronov
I'll reuse this song from last week for testing
Me too :)
Well done Janna :)
Sound coming & going
The main disappointing thing about this set up so far is I can't see the listernership numbers
Stream keeps freezing momentarily
Definitely keeps freezing every few seconds.
Same. And it's a good one!
That's no good...
Which is ok for me as am trying to watch football at same time
Is there a way to find out what's eating the processor on this machine?
no beats are being missed, so it's almost certainly buffering.
eg. we hear every word, punctuated by pauses.
Hi people, I am watching.
on a mac? activity monitor.
My computer is going really really slowly
Ah wirecast is using 138% of the CPU
Ah the computer seems more responsive now...
oh wow.
Yo.
Still buffering?
It is for me.
it's silent.
why did the chicken cross the park, fbfb?
better or worse?
i think giggles might be trying to kill us with his stare.
*blinks*
No answer?
Same, I think.
Don't blink
Ok back in a sec
yup, still buffering.
giggles gone blank.
Yes, can hear you.
Buffering, though.
Oops just went dark
how about now?
off air.
ooh, we see you.
Ch00n!
U can't Touch This
now an advert. sorry.
I don't know if you have to refresh?
No buffering as yet
20 seconds of advertising to go...
Ah....
mc hammer.
I didn't need to...
buffering seems fixed now, giggles.
You're back. You and Hammer.
So... This is Wirecast + Demon... Maybe this is better?
Better for me, too.
So it's Virgin...
bugger
Me three
is keeping demon an option?
Yup... Inside the cancellation window though.
An expensive option!
Ok... So ready for a show now?
boo. what's your upload speed. they might still be running installation tests?
There will be some overrunning
Slower than 0.4Mb
WHAT?!
for cable?
Loud & clear
Can you hear me? *walks away from mic*
Same
Hello
details, details
:)
min upload on virgin should be 1mb+ with 5mb coming soon.
So is this the Oscars pre-show?
if you have wirecast, can you do boxes inside boxes and stuff?
also, can you do widescreen, or id 4:3 the only option?
Just checked my speed on Virgin, upload is 1.01mb
I can do all kinds of exciting stuff... But I'm scared :)
You need a song icon FBFB ;)
I have put in a request.
Isn't wirecast... the one with the woman?
don't you start!
see
"this is a wirecast test..."
Welcome to Wirecast
oh yes
I have made her go away
2 years I've been trying to forget her. 2 years.
Does fbfb have a playlist?
#sorryrg
We may have colluded
FBFB knows all!
That's impossible, surely?
Dammit.
ooops
ooh, your ducker didn't kick in.
:)
Yay for Danish Pop music!
It's trying to be F3 (like seemingly half the junior series in the world...)
Oh Giggles! *pats you on the back*
thanks Kai
I think maybe I haven't had enough beer or something.
Whoops! Wonder if Nico Hulkenburg is still owed his winnings from when he won the 2006-2007 A1GP season?
One thing I like about these shows is I can see how long it takes once you type for me to see a comment zip across the Atlantic, run up my stairs and into my computer.
Ready
Steady
Go
That was me racing Kai's computer
oof. That one came in kinda fast. I wasn't quite ready.
I do have a problem that I don't know any of these songs so I would have to guess :)
I really wanna see True Grit!
Love this song.
Anything from Johnny really!
I haven't seen it. Our timezones don't work to watch at the same time, do they? I'm in EST, UK is +5 hours for me. Are you in the same timezone as the UK?
Giggles, I need lots of cheering up now :(
Yeah
And I really loved Walk the Line. Great movie.
oh dear...
No Arsenal just lost
I'd get to buy a domain!
*Sidepodhug*
Ok... Janna... I think you'll like every one of the remaining 4 songs!
that's four songs after this one...
Am very much loving the fbfb content. The websites links are brillliant
oh.sweet.lord
Ye Olde Folk Song
So Christine... Did you look up the stuff before or have you been doing that live?
On the fly. I likes to live on the edge!
like bono, cept his likes to live off the edge.
Hehehehe!
Did they try to walk it in?
Not really, Birmingham scored first & then a late winner.
I like this :)
I prefer that... In an ideal world you wouldn't know what was coming up until a few seconds before.... It's something odd because for me part of the fun is nobody knowing what the embarrassing song that's coming up is.
phew :)
Something like Etherpad would be perfect for that, stoopid Google.
I LOVE THIS SONG!
The video is lovely and odd!
Indeed... Maybe google docs would work
first artist with no www he must be from Bang-Up-To-Date-Land
fact
Darwin Secretly is a member of Sidepodspace clearly
we're happy with fbfb testing, thanks you giggles.
I've loved it... It's great fun.... I mean it's a shame about the no song icon issue ;) but if you can live like that then that's not a problem for me ;)
...
*boom*
Ahh Conchords, why did they stop making the TV show?
saw that!
what about when the going gets tough?
this is a wirecast test....
Hahahaha.
This was such a nice treat today. Thanks for the welcome home, sidepodland. :)
I wish it could be longer - I'm editing photos!
Thanks Alex, looking forward to next Sunday :)
Me too, on both accounts. :)
cheers sir
and cheers fbfb
It's like the Flight of the Conchords all over again
Woah - have you just been on holiday too? ;)
Thanks Mr C.... And sorry about being mean about the song icon
Oh I forgot an extra fact about this song... It co won the Ivor Novello award... With Space Oddity... Almost like a handing over of the baton in 1969...
Yep, in Prague. And Bassano came over!
Thanks FBFB
he's set a standard now. next time anyone holidays bassano must follow.
Sounds fun (and expensive) for him. But now it's time to focus on Sidepodmeetup in Boston, maybe in April. When he gets back we'll put together 2 or 3 dates as options so we can see who can go. Fun will be had by all!
I love how the FBFB keeps talking to me as I go to other windows. (hearts)
I heart having the video in m4v format!
So... is Googlie Docs instant enough?
Greetings Everyone.
People at Sidepodcast Headquaters, on you trips to F1 factories, (I believe one was Renault, and the other was Williams) did you notice if they use hydrdric lifts to hoist up the F1 cars so that mechanics can work under the cars?
I just happened to come up with a crazy idea for a project for my spare mechanics for my aircraft model kits..... Now I just need to find the 30 year Airfix Zoo Animals kit and I think I can get started....
yay. replat available?
you missed red bull too :)
they have front and rear jacks i think.
See, I told you guys "not non-plugging" Red Bull enough would get you somewhere..... :P
Hmmm, that actually makes my life a little bit easier..... There's one pose of a mechanic flat on his back with a wrench in his hand....that should now be every useful....
Yes! I have dug up my 1/24th scale diecast Damon Hill FW16 Williams Renault. Not to be mean or anything, but I am very happy to see how boxy this car is. Does not look too differcult to use as a base to reduce down to 1/72 scale to match up the mechanics with.
I hate to think that the biggest problem of this excercise is going to find a 1/72 scale Panda....
I love that car! Beautiful!
i heard a rumour the lady might have buried herself under a collection of books and folders.
I have a feeling she may be a bit busy with the nastiness that are university assignments right now :( poor her.
...Now to make a tracing of the outline of the actual car, then to enlarge by 33% and I will get an outline of the bottom of car in 72nd scale. Then I can get height of the car around the sidepods and then I can work out the height of the airbox from the overall height and the rear wing assembly is simple enough....
Good evening. Just had a nice bit of dinner at Mum's.
Edwards is leading the Cup race. Montoya 24th. Bayne just spun into the wall.
Kyle Busch just sideways-rammed Edwards such that he crashed into the wall, gone to the garage for repairs.
Big one on the restart.
If this is annoying I'll be quiet. :)
Red flag. I shall take this opportunity to make a cup of tea.
No keep going, I'm watching something else. This helps me. :)
:)
13 cars involved. Some gone to the garage.
When NASCAR red-flags, you know there's a problem...
Live timing says it is still a yellow but people tweeting red. TV hasn't said.
It was red, cars were parked for a while. Rolling again now.
Hamling led the restart but Jeff Gordon has taken the lead by a margin.
Hamlin, rogue g
He's dropped to 4th now after debris lodged in his air intake. Stewart leads Newman.
Lap 96 of 312.
Blogger question that is driving me batty: I cropped a pic in iPhoto. I go to insert the image, I select the cropped version, and it inserts the original sized image. ack! What am I doing wrong?
Ragan in the wall hard. Puncture caused it. Big damage, car on fire.
have you saved the edited pic? try as a new file?

Well. it being NASCAR, now would be a good time to plug Ragan's Trackside Hot-Dog Stand. Freshly Charred Hot-Dogs, just the way you like it!
Arrgh!
I have just finished editing all 800 pics - tomorrow I select the best ones and upload them!
Marinated with a slight hint of race fuel :)
Okay. The laziness has worn off. Time to hitthe model projects again.
Not much going on. Just through halfway.
Tony Stewart passed Gordon for the lead, Johnson then passed Gordon. Johnson closing in.
How was Top Gear tonight?
Not too bad. Worth watching for Presscott vs Clarkson and the space stuff.
Prescott was in the star car?
Yup. Interesting 15 minutes or so :)
yellow, bad pit stop for Johnson
Inside 50 to go
Final pitstops, 29 laps to go
yellow for Andy Lally in the wall
I finally got it once I logged off and back on again. What a pain.
Thanks.
Kyle Busch leads with Jeff Gordon catching.
Just put it on. It's close
There goes Gordon.
8 to go, Gordon takes the lead into 1
He's hit the afterburners, disappearing away.
Jeff Gordon wins! First win in 67 tries. Kyle Busch 2nd, Johnson 3rd, Harvick, Newman
The race didn't really grab my attention apart from that last little segment, so I've managed to put together my game scores already. You'll have to wait until the blog post Monday or Tuesday to see the results though. ;)
I'm watching the red carpet coverage before the Oscars.
I think I need an early night. Golf is tiring plus I have a boring stock take to do tomorrow. Might read in bed.
gave christine a paintbrush and the evening disappeared. sorry for missing the race :(
I need one too, I'm tired. Thanks for the Nascar updates.
Good night
