I am writing this from a table at the side of the Evening with Joe event, and have been covering it all evening. It's been a fabulous evening and you can catch up with all the comments and photos over on the dedicated thread. We'll be working on some highlights over the weekend, as well, hopefully. Meanwhile, here are some of the other things we're talking about:
- The first part of my F1 Digest Season Preview went up yesterday, too late to meet the daily. It features a run through the entire grid - 24 drivers that we know of - with some stats and a paragraph or two for each. There will be three more preview podcasts over the next few days, so you can now start saying the season really is here.
- Hulkenberg was fastest in testing yesterday, which is very interesting if you consider their Cosworth engine. It appeared as though the engine was going to be behind everyone else over the winter, but perhaps that isn't the case. Naturally, testing isn't reliable evidence, but it's certainly better than I was expecting. Now, Virgin on the other hand... still struggling.
- I didn't get to say Happy Birthday to Janna yesterday because I was saving it for the guest post she wrote for us. Now that is published, belated birthday wishes for Janna, and thank you very much for the push for donations. We appreciate it.
That should do it for now. I can't speak for Mr C but I am going to be completely shattered today, so I will see you in the comments... but not until later.
Helloo, just stopping by quickly :)
hi scott
I am reading an article about the film critic Roger Ebert: http://www.esquire.com/features/roger-ebert-0310
I had no idea he is in such bad health!
Anyways. I started to go to bed an hour ago. Not sure why I'm still awake. Night folks :)
night alison
night Alison
See you in an hour and a half
Shush you
Night guys!
I should probably go also. I'll spend the weekend here, and should get up early tomorrow... see you (later or on Sunday)
night Gavin
Go to bed
Night Gavin
Nice place. Night Guille
night Guille, enjoy yourself
Hi, this is Stuart it is just gone 12:45 and I am now on the train home surrounded by people much younger and much more drunk than I am. Had a fantastic evening which at least in part I must thank Alex for as he welcomed me into your community. I will now try to take a more active part in your website rather than being a 'lurker'. Looking forward to see you again for St Patricks day.
That is awesome to hear, Stuart! :D Once again, welcome to the community. :)
Hi Stuart. Nice to see another lurker has been converted
Home!
Perhaps he should join Alison's band? ;)
Morning all. You weren't able to go to London, Steven?
Hey Bassano. Good evening?
There's a band?
Can I play keyboard? ;)
Not sure who's taken what, TBH. But I know there is one! :D
No. It's way too far away. If I had gone I would not have got home until about 6am at least
Ahh, Journeyer!
Your ears must be burning :D
Very good actually
Definitely. So far we have three drummers, two of whom want to play on a gym ball, one of them will occasionally play the guitar and Alison is singing. Oh and Nick is the manager
Indeed. My mom was telling me it would've been better if we went to Melbourne this year instead of choosing it for next year (because of the holiday setup this year). With Joe only having his event in Melbourne (this year, anyway), it looks like she's right. :(
I will play the double bass if someone will teach me
Joe may do more events this year [inside knowledge]
The more drummers the better.
There must be a double bass teacher lurking out there. We could have two double bass player then.
Mr C also suggested the electric triangle but that was ruled out on the ground of the triangle and the thing that hits it being slightly conductive
#confidential
Agreed
But who will be Bez?
Given the reaction he received on his website I can see him doing a lot. There is a market there for lots of F1 insiders and insiders in other areas making a nice earner from this kind of event.
Why, Alex, of course :D
:D
I don't like my odds for Shanghai... :(
:D
:D
I am almost home. Did quite a bit of plugging tonight!
I had a discussion tonight about this about whether it was very finacially viable
No the money spinner it may appear to be
Alex, you may not know this but you are now our Bez
Great timing.
Just noticed, my spelling is still shocking
#sorryalison
If you have 100 people paying £30? each that is £3000. Travel, hotel, hire of the hall and a drink for everyone must still leave a nice few quid. At a race weekend the travel and hotel costs have to be paid anyway.
Steven: Too early to talk about SidepodScotland?
Just got home, hehehe have had an amazing evening. I (heart) everyone very much :)
well 15 years ago or so I could play the guitar! think it would be best if I was Bez as i am not musical and can't dance which must make me the perfect candidate. By the way I am on vomiit city train on the way home from tonights night with Joe, people are queing up to say hello to their dinner!
Glad to hear, Lou. :)
I can't sleep. I thought it was because I was fretting but now I see people talking about me and am now holding you responsible!! :(
Sidepodhugs!
Lou was a photography fiend tonight, snapping away
Yes. sorry
We saw Christine's pics off you but none of yours
We were talking about the band... although, yeah, it's named after you. :D
hehehe it was awesome thanks sooo much to mr c for a) giving me his dslr for the evening and b) prodding me into action. I even got to chat to Joe about f1 photography!! :)
Oh no! Hope you'll be fine.
If you want to be Bez, I'm not sure you're allowed to be Bez ;)
If you could play the guitar 15 years ago you are perfect. If you can play it while sitting on a gym ball even better.
You are early
Who was it? I'll sort 'em out!
We heard that you held the show up while you were doing that
Oh cripes. Gym balls are involved? I'm not sure my thighs are quite up to that. It's been a while since my cycling days :P
[Lou hasn't even been drinking]
#BassanoFail
No worries, if and when. We'll chat
well... maybe a bit... but he started talking to me and he's just awesome. you can't not love Joe!
Awesome!
We have two drummers sitting on gym balls. Lorenzo reckons he used to do it regularly and as soon as he gets his equipment set up he is going to video it and dropio it
Emily wasn't there to lead her astray
Did you get some good info?
Not thighs
All about core stability
Apparently
only 1 stop to go now, then a 15 minute quick cycle ride. By the way there were only about 50 people present tonight so unfortunately I don't think it was a real money maker. However it was an excellant night and as Joe commented with our help we can make the next event bigger and better by heavily promoting it. So lets hear from everyone about how good tonight was.
Corrected :D
You know leading teenage girls astray is nothing to be proud of!
ahh but i was given 2 business cards this evening.. one from our very own giggles... and one from a very awesome lady :D
I posted a comment on that earlier. Everyone who was there needs to comment on as many sites as they can
i am a complete gentleman
I'll take no further discussion that questions this fact
A strange woman gave you a business card?
omg yes! plus Joe is a legend...
Completely
I'll comment in any area to support this
not strange woman... amazing woman (who i think was arranging the evening?) from a company called Driven Communications..
Giggles card is quite five pints
that it is! :)
She wasn't strange
Relatively
I have no doubt.
Did you offer to seel her photos so she could use them for marketing?
You said you wouldn't let him near your ducks
The woman in black?
She's Joe's [new] PR girl
Who knew that Motorsport Communciations existed outside of the teams?
she asked me to send her links to my flickr etc, as she's really into trying to get girls into the sport and said she'd love to try and help. Apparently i looked really enthusiastic and things :)
*coughs on drink* Huh?
Oooooh Lou, Steven said you're the person to ask about ducks. I want ducks. Where can you get them? :D
I don't believe you
yes, Emma I think she said her name was Emma (i'll check later).
That is really good. You need to keep in contact with her. Keep sending her links to photos and stuff and talk to her about uni.
Steven's right, you still have to keep well clear of my ducks....
Behave
Ponds, rivers, canals. Anywhere where water and free bits of bread are available.
Lou needs to plug more Lou
Do it
Do it
Do it
Seriously, tomorrow
Huh?
I want some ducks. Where's the confusion?
I was hearing Hot Chip when I saw your comment.
I have no interst in harming any ducks
Can i look at them from afar, ducks are quite funny when hungover
omg! ducks are awesome pets!!! :) I loved my ducks, but we got them from a friend this time :) (she brought them into school which was interesting!). However i would suggest having a look in the local paper etc It's worth finding a local place that breeds them. We got our geese, chickens and ducks from a local farm that sells all sorts of birds.
Alison wants ducks. Lou had ducks. So I suggested that before Alison gets ducks she should ask Lou about them
Hungover Bassanos, not ducks. Obviously
Link fail
I suggested drunken ducks could be funny last night. It wasn't well received
i intend to, tomorrow morning, when i'm more alert. I was so confused at first when she pulled me aside and asked for my name and gave me her card. Awesome awesome day. (hearts) sidepodcast!
Those are some pretty cool ducks
All you need is a line of Bread, a Cat Basket, and a nice place to keep them in.
So SHE pulled you aside? So awesome! :D
Where did Alison warning me away from the ducks enter the conversation?
Awwww so cute! I guess I want them smaller though so they let you pet them properly. Also Nick would have to look after them because I don't do animals. So erm yeah. He told me I wasn't allowed to keep them in his bath. Maybe I should get less excited about them now.....
So hang on... you like ducks but you don't do animals? :-/ :P
It's good that she approached you
Wasn't supposed to be a link [italics fail]
Drunken ducks = comedy gold
My thoughts exactly.
This is why you have to stay away from them.... You're too predictable!
A staggering duck is quite amusing when I imagine one in my head.
Tonight. you had an aura of I'm snapping and I know what I'm doing, let me work
Was nice to see [not the only person who noticed this]
She was talking about Nick having to get a bigger house with a duckpond and I said something about making sure he had room when you visited because he didn't have it now and Alison said you better stay away from her ducks. At least that is how I remember it. The comments are still in yesterday's daily at stupid o'clock in the morning. Never had such a long discussion on ducks in my life
You want ducks but you don't do animals?
You'd trust Nick with live ducklings?
Exactly, right?!
they were awesome. Such funny creatures, they loved the sound of a camera shutter and would even let you pick them up and stroke them. All they really need is regular feeding, a secure enclosure or a huge secure garden if you're going to be around (foxes are crafty things), a place to sleep at night, straw (although shredded newspaper works well too) and a pond. :) they're generally very social birds too.
ducks are awesome Alison. We used to have two small mallard ducks, and they used to put the geese away for us, (seriously they were like sheep dogs... only ducks.. herding geese).
In my version the ducks were drunk though
I was thinking this, but thought better.
Weren't you also part of that long discussion on cheese? :D
My parents would never let me have pets, it's made me a bit nervous of them really. I need someone to help me look after them in case I forget or something...
Journeyer, you've talked to Alison before?
in some ways, yes :D :D
Your sheepdog was a gooseduck? Gooseduck has to go in the dictionary.
Ducks. Cheese. What have I been missing?
Um... only in the comments? Why? :-/
OI!
I missed that
hehehehe i think after such a stressful week, and having a few panic attacks today in school cause of unis i needed to just pick up a camera and remember why i'm doing this, Joe and you guys helped me realise that. It just seemed very natural, no idea if i got any good shots though.
:D i'm starting to find my feet in social situations where i don't get so self concious about what people think (yay!) aw and yay for other people not minding :)
Sounds entirely reasonable
For SPC
You might forget that you have ducks? Oh my word.
erm... yes. :) two very small, very cheeky ducks :D sooo funny!
Erm there was a brief mention of cooking them but in all honesty, there's no way he'd know how.... The oven hasn't been on since he moved there, I think he'd be too lazy to actually do it.
But do they like beer
I had a dog once [a legendary dog] who liked beer, occasionally
#BassanosPets
you can't forget you have ducks.. they can make alot of noise if they want attention :P
Don't diss the cheese!!
Hehehe they might have to live in Nick's flat. I don't think I'll be allowed ducks really :(
Aren't drunken ducks... drunk?
oh my!
Gooseduck is in the dictionary now
http://wiki.sidepodcast.com/page/Dictionary
Everything!
What?
I was comparing it to your ducks when you have a hangover which I read as the ducks having a hangover
Is liking Beer a pre-requisite for being #BassanosPets ?
oh no! i just noticed christine got a picture of me snapping! #evilfamouschristine ;)
It was worthy
The Camembert of threads
More than one.
When you all get sick of talking about ducks everyday, you can tell pester Nick to get me some. I promise I won't bring it up anymore after that....
Nice to hear, it showed
More power to you
Well, ahh forget it
Repuattion, in stone
more than one! how mean. ;)
Err
But, I don't have ducks
:)
No
But it helps
I got one too
I thought you noticed, I was going to ask you for editorial control
Did someone turn out the lights suddenly?
It all went quiet.
Yeah, odd
I'm just having daydreams about little duckies!
I'm also oddly into the curling.... I hate games that get too close though. I get to nervous to watch. I'm going to turn over....
Steven: I've more than likely asked this before but are you coming to Spa?
I keep dipping into some editing, then came the duck talk, and I was all over that. Then back to the editing.
got home at 1:45, must go to bed now as have busy day on Saturday and on Sunday I am taking part in a cross country race for my running club. Must just add for a certain specific few people that I had a Burger King at Liverpool St station!
I am watching that as well
I don't know yet
Race: Go Stu
BK: He eats like a mofo!
Good luck for your race
Olympic sweeping, really Steven?
I put it on to help me sleep. Oddly I then found it exciting! (Go Canada!)
If they didn't sweep, would it make much of a difference? really?
Aerodynamics on ice
you did? ah well :P hehee i don't mind really, i do the whole cringing at myself in photos like most people though :P
It's a good Scottish game
Something that large that moves that slowly..
I'd imagine that a small amount of ice melt would affect the path of a moving Curl
Oh yes. They spray water on the ice and it forms little bumps. Sweeping melts the bumps and helps the stone speed up or turn
okay i'm all caught up on joe comments :) hehehe and it's true Christine is a celebrity :P
I'll run it past you before it goes public
nah don't worry ;) i'm sure it's fine ;)
Sweden win the sweeping
But...
People who were podcast only tonight, found us cos of Mr C's voice
Boooooo :(
I've also had browser fail. I've had to open IE #sorrymrc
indeed... but i class christine as a celebrity as the people who came up to her got a bit star struck and just wanted to say hi and thanks to her... she's a celebrity (she's not here to push me or tell me to ssshh hehe ;) )
Random: What other careers are there where a sense of smell is fundamental, apart from Cheese, Wine or chocolate tasting?
#NotSnifferDogs
She is a celebrity. If people get star struck when they approach you, you are a celebrity
Why? I'd imagine some kind of survival/SAS type jobs where you're at one with nature or whatever....
Agreed, Christine has gone beyond 'I know her' staus
Mr C is 'I know that voice, you're SPC, aren't you?'
Perfume, mining,
Florist?
I was thinking less dangerous
I have a particularly acute sense of smell, even in my current condition
[Scent memory is one of the most powerfull events int he minds' 'library']
This week, got a scary call at work from my Dad, who informed me that my Sister, due to give birth to my 2nd Niece in a few months, slipped on some ice.
She went to hospital. The baby was fine, but she has a pot on her wrist, and her ankle is strapped up.
So, going out these days really does cost you an arm and a leg.
Perfume things give me an instant headache [shops like lush]
Mining: Like a minor bird?
Night Lou
Christ I'm glad everything is okay. Sounds terrifying. I bet she was a right state.....
Alison: Better grammar when drunk than hungover
In case of methane etc. They have proper detectors but best be safe
i like few flowers
Bah humbug!
A pot?
In plaster.
G'night Lou
Peace'n'Love
There are lots of thinks with added smells and things where smells are matched. Everything with a scent added has been done by sniff from air fresheners to paint additives to the fake leather smell on lots of fake leather items
:D
I had to give up on IE. Even if other browser is crash happy today. Commenting in IE is not fun...
No!
i like flowers, just very few of them
Lilly's and Orchids are awesome, the rest are just... flowers
Ok, ta
I'm getting a headache just thinking about all that. Bassano, I'd say if you have a sensitive nose, staying away from artificial smells as far as possible seems wise....
They put it on in case there was a break in one of the bones in her arm.
Seeing her tomorrow, armed with a pen, so I can write "Ice Ice Baby" on it.
She's okay with it, as long as the baby was ok.
Is it weird that air fresheners try to emulate natural scents but end up smelling like artificial air fresheners?
night Lou
Lush gives me a headache walking past
indeed
Will be a funny story when her children want to listen
Gotta say it
One of those rare days where I'm still a little hungover
Yeah I bet she was freaking out when she was on the ground though. Did she call an ambulance? I'm really glad everything's okay. Babies are pretty robust all round really.
They need your nose
They grow ina bouncy castle, of sorts
I know the scent that can prevent drunken chunder
[For borderline cases only]
I don't know, but knowing my sister, she will have been freaking out until she knew that baby was fine.
#threadfail
It's not Saturday until enough people in SPC land believe it to be so
Did you write a limerick?
I haven't been sober since Thursday afternoon
Do you think it's a good idea to publish my efforts?
I must be drunk, I'm trying to be Stuart Taylor, and failing miserably.
http://drop.io/startledbunny/asset/imag0085-jpg
Do you need to ask?
Who?
It was rhetorical
Publish. Now. Pretty please.
You're having an argument with yourself? I definitely say publish!
I couldn't do a family friendly limerick at this time
Reply FAIL
SPC voicemail: 0128 28 TRACK right?
yup
Am getting a beep beep :(
Missing out on drunk voicemail hilarity
I tried to call on skype and it won't connect #skypefail
e-mail it to Christine and have her read it out on the next Debrief. She likes feedback
Yep or sidepodcast on Skype
I think, based on the mobile devices that I saw tonight that will need charging
SPC HQ is probably suffering a blackout
It should ring a few times then you should here Christine's message
Find the headset, plug it in
You're a hard taskmaster Mr Roy!
No, just the beep beeps
Stop complaining and find that headset, right? ;)
Ahhh I waited ages on the skype call and eventually it did connect.... It's your lucky day!
I just called it on my mobile. Rang twice then Christine spoke. Try again
You sure you dialed the number right?
Sure? No
0128 28 Track = 012828 87 225 yeah?
He commented it right (checked), so I assume so.
[tries skype]
That's what I dialed. It is working
Just tried it on my mobile (the number is stored, god knows why, I'll never leave a message (unless theres a really drunk moment)).
I heard Christines voice.
Nope, not happening
Kismet is telling me that now is not the right time
but Sidepodcast is telling you now is the perfect time. Kismet or Sidepodcast?
Several times
It could happen
But if I can't get through...?
I got through, so why can't you?
Got through on Skype!
It wasn't the drunken car crash you all hoped for
Some of the alcohol companies have/had a campaign along the lines of "If [drink name] made nightclubs".
(Cue ducks staggering about, pointing with their wings at other ducks and being agressive) "If Bassano had Ducks"
You're braver than I am. One piece on Sidepodradio was enough. I'm sure there's enough drink in Yorkshire to make me slip and call in though.
http://drop.io/sidepodcast/asset/bassano-jpg-2
And with that, I will attempt sleep
night Bassano
Dude, it's just a phone call
hey all. awesome evening!!
They'd need an interpreter, I know I do.
awesome christine got us home safe too.
hi Mr & Mrs C, glad you got home ok
Hello, you made it back. Am glad
Am going to bed now, am looking forward to soberville tomorrow
cheers bunny, night bassano.
Before I go, Mr Bunny: are you coming to the St Patrick's Day meet up?
Err, yeah. I left a voicemail, it wasn't very meaningful, is just... there
Where is this? Down South?
Details aren't clear yet but.. Pretty much
7pm, The Coal Hole, The Strand, London
Evening
Good night
i think i may have missed a lot!
Not much I think
It's the comments, so, yes & no
I think we missed more, although the ducks might swing it in our favour
I got blamed for potential duck hasslement!
Potential
A bit more on Alison's ducks.
We have a guitar player for the band although he is 15 years out of practise.
We have a keyboard player and Bassano is prepared to give the double bass a go. Oh and Giggles is Bez.
We also have a very happy Lou this evening
Mr C: I need to chat to you about Desktop Doohickey post Air update
[not now]
getting ducks drunk, then filming evidence, that takes some skill
no worries. tomorrow is good.
This should not be overlooked
wow. giggles would make an excellent bez! can he go backwards as well as forwards?
glad lou is happy, she's ace.
Bassano, can't make St Pat's day. Would have to catch trains at silly o'clock to get back home. Did look into it though. Would like to.
I have a feeling that Giggles will do Bez in a very Giggles 'shirted' way
I have a keyboard. It's more Bontempi than Yamaha DX7 though tbh.
She is bouncing off the walls. Joe's PR approached her and gave her a card and offered to help her and she is in love with Joe. Then Alison got her on to ducks so she couldn't be much happier.
Some People
No commitment :D
[SB assumes he'd leave the same day he arrived]
brilliant!
We have three drummers so two keyboard players makes sense. Can you play while sitting on a gym ball? It's kind of a requirement
Steven, what are you playing or are you gonna be Flavio?
:)
No, the day after. Well, reeeeeally early in the morning after.
So far I am doing nothing. I thought maybe kazoo. Easy to carry
The Shaun Ryder role fits perfectly
When you've been Bassano'd, reeeeeally early in the morning is just a nightmare, not a reality
I'd try.
Would we call ourselves the Gym Ball Heroes (after the Gym Class Heroes)?
Both of these work
time to sleep. catch everyone tomorrow.
:)
:)
:)
^^happy mr. c.
Good night
Yes, it was hugs all round
Again
See ya Sir, me too actually
I ought to be going to bed. I really want to get to the St Pat's do, as I'll be better company than I was at the Autosport meetup (no alcohol involved).
Count me out for now, but I'm going to try to get there.
Night all
night Mr C. You ought to get the Milky Bars ready to thank Mrs C for getting you there and back.
Good night
Good night
Ahh... geeze it feels great to be home.
14 hours on the road. One interviews and one lunch time speech and 611 miles driven.
Did I miss anything?
Apparently I missed everyone going to see Joe. Sound like a lovely time. I hope he does one in Montreal. (Even though I won't be there because I will be coming back from visiting my sister in Peru that weekend. Grrr)
Question for people attending SidepodSpa.
I am doing a cost estimate for if I can do SidepodSpa and wondering how much train tickets cost from London to Spa?
Also, when is everyone going down and back? I assume everyone would leave on the 26th of August and return the 30th.
Just trying to figure out if I can possibly do this.
This I cannot help with as I'm not taking the train
As far as I know I'm going on Thursday 26th and afterwards I'm flying Brussels - Berlin on Monday night.
Alex knows about these things better, but check out the eurostar website. I think the closest train station to Spa is Verviers Central (45Min away by bus)
Just a quick recap from me, for those asking 'did I miss anything', well, yeah funny, you did actually.
I found it a very enjoyable evening, obviously as the first event of its kind there are some things that can be done better next time, but in the main the format, venue, and entertainment provided good value for money.
And at the end of the day it was Joe performing before an audience, to earn a living. And I quite enjoyed the performance :-)
Highlight of the evening for me was talking briefly to Paul (I didn't catch his last name). A long retired F1 Journalist from Sydney (but also worked for The Advertiser in my home town of Adelaide). Mr C captured it on tape I think, as he spoke about Chris Amon 'hitting one kerb too many' and getting a puncture at Clermont-Ferrand (home of Michelin, not Renault as I mistook!) to hand the win to Stewart.
It was only a little anecdote but a wonderfully retold one and that's the magic of events like these. You never know who you could meet, or what stories you could hear.
Only thing that made me scratch my head was the dude in the middle row falling asleep and then leaving basically 2/3s of the way through!
Oh I did forget to mention one more thing, the beer was cheap!
I travelled to Spa last year by plane and then caught a train to Verviers...
Pretty little ride on the last section after Liege...
Luckily I had some friends to pick me up but I expect you could sort a taxi out... it's still a little way from Spa...
Amy are you still around?
yep
I won't be home before the GP, can I change the delivery address of the ticket and if yes do you mind if I let them send it to you?
yep that'd be fine, or you could get i sent to bassano, he is looking after mine.
Bassano!!!
almost finished packing. I don't understand how a single person can have so much stuff
I don't think he'll be up for a bit
The train to Verviers Central is included in your Eurostar ticket. You don't need an additional ticket. All onwards travel in Belgium is included.
So I can get from Lodon to Spa and back for £69.00??
I believe so... Which is why I kept suggesting the eurostar option it's a very good deal.
MORNING!!!!
Touché, my head hurts. I definitely got Bassano'd.
How's your head Alex? :)
Definitely Bassano'd. I feel a little wonky... I have to be in the pub in an hour as well. Just about to set off, but having a cup of coffee first.
Hello all, have caught up with all of the comments from last night, sounds like you had a great time. Looking froward to hearing the edited audio. I hope Joe does another evening so that I can go along.
I had a lovely birthday party, my friends each provided a different course for the meal and I came home with a party bag so am eating chocolate eggs, strawberry laces and flumps for breakfast ;)
*forward - some alcohol may have been consumed last night
Good morning all.
If you feel like following a near 33 year old geezer from Tasmania, im now on twitter.
@kerbriderf1
While your there, join @aussiegrit to see Webber
Snap, I'm meeting people at Liverpool Street, or rather the Wetherspoons outside it!
Have followed, had a little trouble finding you as twitter can be picky about upper case/lower case in names. Found you as KerbRiderF1. Hope this is correct.
ups, bug deffo. mr c, mobile doohickey doesn't follow the thread when you post a comment. can you confirm?
Is @emmastonier Lou's new mate?
Yes that's her!! :) eek hi everyone :D
hi Lou. Still bouncy?
will check later. ta.
how did you do that?
I found her twitter a few weeks back and only remembered when I was reading the comments from last night :D
small world!
yep :D yesterday was awesome :) plus mr c called me 'ace' lol
All this Joe talk has reminded me that I am super behind on transcribing everything the man says. And as I am trying to stay awake for the Dubai final in 2 hours what better time to start catching up :D
Very correct Alex :)
Kathi: you called?
He he, I think I gained a new catchphrase
You're just like Tango.
Would it be OK if I told the Spa people to send my ticket to you?
RG, I reworded your Q but Joe gave us his opinion of Timo
hehehe i like that in an attempt to cover up some of the space on their car Sauber have written a little message on their fin thing.
Of course, do you need my address? DM your email addy
you are such a good ticket babysitter.
:D
I have reached the conclusion that Singapore tickets this year must be giant novelty sized because last year the courier cost was $10 and this year its $57 so by my logic the tickets are 5.7 times the size.
Hopefully Piquet's not delivering them
sent. Thanks
I told them to stick their extravagant fee and instead will be picking it up at the circuit for $3. This will be my first picked up ticket in 7 races so I hope I don't mess it up :D

:D
Hopefully, they're not implying the car is a joke
Woo, smiley happy team
Heard about it, cheers mate :)
Afternoon.
Hello folks.
Will B says Stefan GP won't race in Bahrain.
But TBH, their only realistic way in was to buy USF1's entry, and that is still possible right now. Question is, will Ken Anderson swallow his pride and sell it? Or will he take down Stefan with him?
Ello Christine.
Hi
Mrs Celebrity!Christine ;)Grrr. *virtual pushes*
:D
That's an odd Tremayne
;)
hehehe
Until I got up to that point in Aside 15 I had completely forgotten that there is no Gino this year.
Suddenly I am in love with this season :D
Isn't he at Lotus, though? Or is a road-car job for him now?
I don't remember. Now you have me worried. Grr.
I'm pretty sure he's at Lotus. The only question is if it's an F1 job or a roadcar job.
I found the post, head of Le Mans and Indycar apparently.
Still find that very odd. Oh well, I guess as long as they don't have an entry in either series, then we won't see him.
even if they do, I won't be watching :D
Definitely. So far we have three drummers, two of whom want to play on a gym ball, one of them will occasionally play the guitar and Alison is singing. Oh and Nick is the manager {Comment #29}
Do you have space for a mediocre recorder/keyboard/acoustic guitar player and singer?
What does it say?
"See you in Bahrain"
"If you can read this, so can your customers"?
Ah, we have huge shamals at the moment, hopefully the weather will clear up before then!
Shamals?
Ah, wind!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamal_(wind)
Like a sandstorm but with dust
Can't believe the season is only two weeks away, really fired up for it
Hi all!! Was I one of the three accounted for drummers? cos I recall saying that I have played on a gym ball before...ya know, I am just as happy to play bass if we have an over abundance of drummers!
Nick Wirth is deluded:
Virgin Racing's technical director Nick Wirth has promised a major upgrade on the VR-01 for the Bahrain Grand Prix - and says he is utterly confident that his squad will start as the best of the new teams
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/81756
Hi Lorenzo
He only has to beat one team to do that. How is he deluded?
I just get really bored of these pre-season statements that occur every year
Being on hold is rrrrrubbish!!
This is true, if you have a cordless phone, put it on speaker and carry on with what else you have to do
Couldn't agree more, only 2 more weeks before reality bites.
i guess it's a question of how you define best? they should be the fastest.
:D
I don't have a landline at all. But yeah my mobile is on speaker....
Yeah. I must say that having looked at the times over the last couple of days, I have no idea who is fast or slow!
Having said that, the new teams do seem to be off the pace...
#MFC
Things I was doing before are not compatible to listening to the phone though....
if someone could find my phone for me I would really appreciate it. I knocked it off the table where it was charging and it appears to have vanished
Have you tried ringing it to ask it where it is?
I did indeed. Battery is flat.
It could've at least waited a little bit to get some charge before running away
They are ruining the tennis! They have to keep sweeping the court! If Nole loses, I will blame the sandy court.
Right, a spot of lunch I think, before the GP2 replay
well to be honest I knocked it off the table 24 hours ago and waited til now to try and find it :D
Silly question - why is it not under the table?
Off hold. Man told me he couldn't deal with my problem but I'd get a ringback within 5 minutes.... I'm still waiting!
if I knew that, I would have the phone! It's also not under my bed next to the table. Maybe I picked it up in my sleep last night and put it somewhere else.
Where else do you leave your phone? Where is the table where it was being charged? Could it be under your pillow or duvet or something else?
It's often on my bed or in my bag and it doesn't appear to be in either of those places at the moment. To be honest though the opposite half my room is a tip so if it's in there it'll never be found. Until I clean up. Which will be tomorrow.
Hello.
Here's a random thought that just popped into my head.
If StefanGP were going to test last week, why have they not launched the car or announced a test driver?
They've effectively confirmed Kaz
I always refuse and request to be kept on hold until someone can help. They hate it but I don't like being lied to
I cba dealing with it now. I've drafted a letter, I'll print it out at work and send it. I've been paying small direct debits for a mobile account that should be closed for the last 8 months, I'm sure it'll wait another couple of weeks....
its raining in Dubai. I THOUGHT IT NEVER RAINED.
Nick has lied to me! LIED!
So why not have a launch?
Rain?? That's madness!?!
They can't launch if they don't have an entry, it wouldn't make any sense.
people in the stands even had umbrellas.
Neither does a test or sending crates of stuff to a Grand Prix though?
No Tyres to roll it out on? ;)
Did I read somewhere earlier that they plan to launch next week?
The MotoGP at Qatar last year was torrential
He didn't mention anything. Maybe he thinks it doesn't rain because he doesn't notice...
A test does. Their plan B was to test all year. They don't need an entry for that (apart from the lack of tyres!).
At the time they sent things, Campos and USF1 were about to collapse and they (perhaps a little arrogantly) assumed they'd be brought in to replace them.
Now Campos is back together and pushing to make Bahrain.
Things have also moved on with Stefan/USF1 merger rumours.
Right, I'm off now. See you later gusy ;)
See ya Gavin
See ya
Big Pic for yesterday: http://www.f1minute.com/2010/02/26/no-worries-ahead-of-bahrain/
I [heart] Big Pic
Afternoon everyone :)
Hi Giggles! :)
Hellooooo :)
Breaking news: Force India's Companies House paperwork is in! I can tell because the status changed from yesterday's "Last Accounts Made Up To: xx/xx/2007 OVERDUE" to today's "Last Accounts Made Up To: 31/12/2008" all highlighted in red (to indicate that you can't look at the document yet because Companies House must upload, and possibly verify it first).
So this means all the worries about Force India possibly facing strike-off are over for another year - or should be. I'm really happy about this :)
There's an Umbrella on the track in Bahrain!
Hello Sir, how's the head?
that's okay, they have two weeks to clear it?
nice one. have you been checking every day?
not for the GP2 cars
ooh, i have no idea.
are they using the new circuit?
I'm not watching but from what people were saying yesterday, they are using the 'normal' track this week and the new track with F1.
ah, fair enough.
Evening everyone! :)
Hi Lukeh
Strange goings on with StefanGP.
Will says the containers haven't arrived. http://willthef1journo.wordpress.com/2010/02/27/stefangp-will-not-race-in-bahrain/
Stefan says they have and has shipping documents, and then takes a pop at USF1 http://www.stefangp.com/news008.html
hi
fine. I just won at bowling
Tell me about it!
We had a years worth of rain in 10 mins! And i was driving in it!
The car nearly stopped because the water levels were so high!
Terrifying!
you seem to be having a number of water related calamities of late
Amy!! Emma likes Heikki too!
Lotus four seconds off the pace according to Trulli-yikes! Hope they pick some pace up-Heikki's a top bloke and deserves a good car
http://twitter.com/emmastonier/statuses/9738414864
Alex, will there be Giggles Radio tomorrow? I had to miss "E" and don't want to miss another one ;)
Oh yes. 4-6 tomorrow
Yay!
Oops, will put it in the calendar.
ooops I should have mentioned it. I need to write a post!
one of the roadworks divider bollards had floated into the middle of the road too, not great with 2 metre visability :(
Then i get home to find a waterfall at the lift shaft...
I don't have the energy to go out tonight
Possible lunch tomorrow as well, when do I get to chill?
Did anyone ask joe if he lurks on doohicky?
No, but it doesn't sound like he has the time to be honest
Is probably answering comments on his own blog
I watched Joe approving comments on his blog. It was quite exciting. I am a geek.
Apparently tomorrow's weather is going to be awful
I think Nick's giving us those winds ;)
Hehe :)
Guys I expect I'm the only one who is really into rallying this year but having gone onto the Mexican Rally website there a fantastic download...
It's a Google Earth map of all the stages...
Now I'm not going but looking at what the map shows by way of info I'll be following Kimi every step (if that's the right word) of the way on every stage...
Hurrah...
But it does make me want to go!!....
This is the site if you are interested...
http://www.rallymexico.com/home.php
hehehe i found it exciting enough watching you create the daily! :) hehe
Yay, a fellow geek! :)
Did joe give ou any advice about becoming an f1 photographer?
it was like i was going behind the scenes! :D
Did he reject any?
#scandel?
hehe yes, it was funny cause i'd just sat down, and was still a little flustered from being a little late etc and he came over to mr c and i and looked at me saying 'you must be the photographer?...' and then started talking about photography with us. I nearly died! :D
:)
ooh, ta. am becoming more interested in rallying.
Thanks for that, it looks an interesting site. I'm not a huge rally fan but it will be interesting to see how Kimi copes in a different environment, couldn't get much more of a contrast from Sweden
Not that I saw.
hehe. we mighta mentioned ya beforehand.
Christine has seen the other side! :P
i gathered thank you, you said nice things i hope :P
:D have i said thank you enough for promoting joe's event yet? cause 1. it was awesome.
2. he is awesome.
3. it was awesome to spend time chatting about f1 and talking to you lovely people again.
4. it was awesome to take photos once more.
5. Emma gave me her business card and i'm all excited :D
<3's f1 and sidepodcast :)
we enjoyed it equally as much. i must blog it, so i'll save some other stories for that though :)
I'm enjoying just hearing about it!
:) yay! can't wait for the blog post. i've nearly finished most of my essays so i can take a look through some of the pics on my camera later :)
I hope we get a guest post from someone else who went.
Hint, hint, people.
Afternoon everyone.
It's the Google Earth bit of the Mexican rally site that I thought you'd all appreciate....
Sounds like everyone had a great time with Joe... (except the sleeper, who probably was waiting for a late train or something.... or perhaps he was reliving one of the less exciting races from last year....)
:D Awesome!
Maybe has an auto feature that blocks any beginning Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :P
I'll have a think when I am clearer of head
ooh, did you see the recent comment on your last guest post, sir?
Hi Dan
Err, no
People are still reading it?
have only seen the screenshots. but looks like a great idea.
http://sidepodcast.com/2009/09/07/theres-an-app-for-that/#comment-695124
Have just finished downloading Google Earth & the rally info. It's going to make following much more interesting. Thanks
Heikki shoes
http://tweetphoto.com/12715285
Hmmm...
Heikki seems to have a certain delight in footwear... from the JA tweet thingy...
H_Kovalainen Sparco did some special shoes for me, what do you guys think? I think they look cool! I test them tomorrow... http://tweetphoto.com/12715285
They are like Superhero Shoes :)
Anyone else heard about the Legard tweet... Lopez, with more dosh, supplanting Bruno?....
but there's a spare seat. why replace him?
Odd
Right, I'm off to play skittles with work people... could be interesting... we've only been out once and that was for a meal..
and that was over a year ago
nice one. have you been checking every day? {Comment #453}
Yes! Twice yesterday, just in case there was an update after business hours on deadline day. If the screen had still read "OVERDUE" on Monday I'd probably have panicked...
(...well, it is my favourite team and the paperwork issue was not exactly of minor importance...)
Bless...
He really loves his job...
And sorry guys I am getting a little boring with these tweets courtesy of JA....
ClaireVWilliams Rubens is brilliant. After a full day of track running, he still did an hour & a half of media work for me (and let his supper go cold)!
Actually of all the teams I think Claire does it best by far...
I've just spent a few minutes putting together a quick flickr set of what i think are some of my best photos, so i can show photographers or anyone those without having to flick through the entire photostream. Anyone think there are any notable problems with any of the pics?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/loujohnson/sets/72157623395441637/
Love this spectator guide for Mexico...
http://www.rallymexico.com/content.php?page=spectators Guide
Read down to the little pics.... not sure if requests not to drink to excess are likely to be heeded if all I hear is true....
Can't see any issues, glad you included the fox with the snow on his nose and the elephant. You are truly an awesome photographer.
Will have a look
Minty!
ah-ma-zing. I could spend hours looking at your photos.
They're so beautiful!
The Safety Car one seems a bit out of place to me. Kinda like it's not AS good as the others. But that's only because the rest are ridiculously good.
awww thank you Janna! :) I wasn't in the comments much yesterday so a belated happy birthday to you :)
Thank you, I had a lovely celebration but was sad to miss meeting everyone at the evening with Joe.
aw thanks. i was thinking about that one, and the other from goodwood 08. I'm not a fan of the dust that was around on the track.
hopefully there will be another event or something you can attend :)
I love the one of the otter, just love it. Really great little set there :)
the photos are perfect, i just wonder if a gallery might have been a better choice. at the moment, your gallery page says:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/loujohnson/galleries/
on the other hand you could question the difference between a gallery, a set and a group. either way, very good stuff.
I like the Goodwood shot
The reds really stand out against the silver
I think the second one is better because it's a more interesting car, but the safety car is just a car. I don't know if that makes sense, and don't listen to me anyway, because your worst picture will still be better than any of mine :)
He's a real cutie
i'm very confused about Galleries though.. they seem to be something you can put anyone's photos that you like in? compared to a set which is your own?.. i can set up a gallery too, my thinking was if anyone randomly finds my page they can immediately seen a sample of my work?
yeah true. not sure on that either. i'd stick with the set :)
I adore the Hide and Seek shot
aw thank you, it's nice to have other's opinions.
hehehe okay :) i'm only just embracing collections :D
i'm blushing now.. time to go email Emma :D
Am drinking with friends. not been bassano'd yet!
Amateurs ;)

i saw a daily created... watching a live f1minute recording would have been waaaaay to much! :)
:)
:)
Us laughing at US F1 Toasters may not have been ideal during a recording ;)
In alphabetical order, would di Grassi come under D or G?
I've always had it as D
Interesting. Same with de la Rosa, I suppose.
Evening all
D for me
Surely D what with it being Delicious :P
Hi Steven!
Evnin Steven
Just looked hrough your special flickr pics. Some great stuff in there. Nice to see a square crop of that flower. I remember discussing that a while ago but I had never noticed it. Much better cropped like that.
Looks like Cosworth have delayed the launch of their website. The countdown before was due to hit zero on Monday but now it is Thursday.
http://www.cosworthformula1.com/
Anything exciting happen during testing today?
Don#t know if you can compare this but I have a von/van in my name. In Germany I'm listed under G for my last name and in Finland under v. I prefer G but I'm not sure if that's correct :)
would you ever put MacDonald under D?
Scottish Mc names are always listed as M and Irish O' names are always listed as O but I guess so long as you have one system and stick to it, it shouldn't matter.
FIA has him as Lucas di Grassi.
So his last name starts with a G.
so the second one?
Di Grassi, Lucas
Grassi, Lucas di
There... we have a definitive answer: The FIA say G so it must be D!
di Grassi, Lucas
On timing screens he was DIG, not GRA
Jenson was in the car... he did some laps.. there were a few red flags.. it rained a bit. just normal pre season testing.
ooh, interesting.
The di in his name is not a separate word though. It is not a name on its own but then the same applies to Mc or von and there are clearly different systems for them. I think Christine should pick a system and stick to it and from then on it becomes sidepodlaw
with a lowercase 'd'?
Sounds like a good day then
Google says it should be G http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/GRAMMAR/numbers.htm (last paragraph)
Grassi, Lucas di
yes
de la Rosa, Pedro too
Yes
I have gone for Di Grassi, Lucas and De la Rosa, Pedro.
Shame Felipe Leite or Becken are not around right now
And for something completely different:
Just saw this in my Google Reader:
http://news.cnet.com/8301-13577_3-10461062-36.html?part=rss&subj=news&tag=2547-1_3-0-20
Live Tsunami viewing? It"ll be on Ustream!
Unbelievable!
And you are V if the Von is capitalised but G if it is not. Very complicated getting names right
good heavens.
Just heard on the Olympics they expect a tsunami to hit Vancouver island. That really is a monster wave to travel that distance
Someone looking to find out who or what Mr C is in Joe's comments.
http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2010/02/25/apologies/
:) :)
are they now any the wiser though?
It 's the 'what' that makes it funny
quite disappointed, i'd imagine.
Are any of us?
That's why I try to get people drunk at meet-ups so that they forget what you look like
ah-ha!
Are you trying to claim expenses for the booze?
What am I, a politican? ;)
he imagined a more imaginitive disguise than a brown paper bag?
almost certainly!
http://img70.yfrog.com/i/ohgv.jpg/
Oh dear. Schumacher does not seem optimistic about his expectations for the season. Maybe this season will be even better than expected.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/81761
Do we think Ke$ha and 3OH!3 are Rubens fans?
Mr Barrichello seems to have liked the blah blah blah thing since the 90's:

Villeneuve to have a seat fitting for Stefan GP? Why didn't Toaster F1 snap him up if he wanted to come back? He is well known in the USA and would get them loads of coverage so they could offer better value to sponsors than J Lo.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/81769
i do declare lou, official sidepodcast photographer. we're never going anywhere without you again!
Seconded
:D
yay!!!!! the.best.job.ever :P
Ooooooh.
Ahhhh. I likey
That's only fair.
Makes sense.
:)
http://twitpic.com/15ptbi
last one :)
That third one looks really good considering how bad the lighting was
Are you open to bribes lou? Or do you consider your position more important than money?
You have already passed the SPC Fairness and Integrity test so I fear asking for shots of Mr C's face is a waste of time :P
i got some nice ones considering, they'll be on flickr soon.
lou, we'll forward the pics on our camera to you, like we did with the xmas party ones. if that's okay?
probs monday.
if you're in touch with Em, can we leave you to pass on any pics to joe that you're happy with?
I look forward to them
hehehe sadly i think that would result in Mr C firing me :P Although i'm not sure i got any pics of him last night as i was being super careful he didn't sneak into any of my pics.
yay :)
once you're again you're assuming that anything they do involves common sense
There has been nothing to suggest common sense is at work in Charlotte. Doing the bleedin' obvious seems to be beyond them
:)
well if they've gone in to the toaster business there may be the first signs of intelligent life
come to england. see me in person :)
that's fine :) i'll try have a flick through them next week (will bring relief from uni portfolio stress).
Emma Stonier? sure. Don't you want to forward her any of the ones you took? i don't know how good mine were cause i was mostly thinking 'woaahh! Canon!... how do i work it' :)
maybe, i figure you can probably tweak them better than us though, will email ya this week.
what you need is to attend more sidepodevents and practice :)
sounds like a plan, will do :)
The winter Olympics are almost over before a marmot got a mention. Do these people have no sense. The Whistler ski resort is named after the sound the hoary marmot makes. You can't save up marmot facts like that till the last day.
gimme a time and location and i will be there. I owe you guys sooo much :)
but i'll bring my nikon :P
March 17th
i'm still at school then... plus i'll be shattered as i would have had an interview the previous day in southampton :( gimme another date :P
goodwood?
One social meet-up at a time please :)
wouldn't miss it for the world.
hehehe :P
A spot of tv to wind down before bed, I think
evening
night b, hello j.
night Basano.
How was last night, amazing?
night Bassano.
Hi Jackie!
amazini.
joe got your comment too late sadly, sorry jackie :(
seconded
Hi Jackie. Night Bassano
shall do. one day. will bring gifts.
It's okay, finally I couldn't get away from work and there was no point leaving for London at 5.30
Hopefully there will be other occasions though
agreed.
a sneaky look at the mercedes engine's fuel economy: http://i49.tinypic.com/2m5xv7s.jpg
wow1
I'm not really here
why is that?
I'm having a night off
you make it sound like I'm some kind of slave driver!
from sidepodcast?
ooh, from viva. hehe.
I'm not hiding from you Mav
Doesn't really tell you anything because it is for such a slow lap
you're doing a poor job of it if you are
btw, do you guys prefer viva, vf1 or neither?
This must be the only site on the net where half the people commenting are not here
lol
I was offline for most of the evening
bottom half of the close-up
the top half of the screen is mid-way through a lap
I haven;t thought about it, Viva I'd guess
It shows the current delta as 8 seconds. Presumaby that applies to the lap in progress
i always call it viva myself
Am I blogging tomorrow btw?
viva it is (for when i can't type those extra two characters).
bottom half shows the previous laps, there's an out-lap, laps 32-36, in-lap, out-lap, lap 39 and then the current lap 40 is on the top half
laps 32-36 for Rosberg where in the range 1min37 to 1min41 with intermediate tyres
you tell me :-)
Hey guys. On my train at L'pool St, gonna be heading back to near-home in a wee while. Rather clapped out!
do I want to?- no will I - if I must
bassano clappered out?
oh, something for the weekend?
:D
You said it, not me. :D
yes that's what I was meaning. wondered if I should when there is testing on
"something for the week after the testing has finished and while we wait for the season to start proper"
I understand now
yeah :D
Yes
oh noooo's
I have the telly on and it's "most haunted". What a load of codswallop
get your own back and make him to guest write something!
Ooh do you fancy doing a post Steven?
erm....Give me a subject
Whatever you fancy as long as it's got summat to do with F1
I will think of something then.
Coolio, thank you :D
I don't have the staying power tonight, done diddly squat all day and I'm done in
Me too. Although I'm still in awe at this morning's actions I mentioned on twitter.
Could have cost the firm thousands
What happened?
cool, i can sit back and pretend i already know now ;-)
A colleague (who was already on my bad side yesterday) decided that when defrosting selected cabinets he left several full lines of stock in in the defrosting cabinets. I have no idea why the random lines were left in or anything but yeah... it made for a frustrating waste to the start of my day.
you need a new job, cause your current one doesn't sound fun. *prod prod*
I knooow I know I know. :(
Our supervisor left today as well and he's the person I got on well most with. Bleh.
exactly.. new job needed :P
It's like they're just handing me reasons ;)
But in a few months when you graduate you won't need that one
Reason enough to ask for your P45! :)
I'm heading off to bed, goodnight all
night jackie.
Night Jackie
Night! :)
Night :)
night
Cheers for the blog comment Mr C. :)
Evening!
night :)
How is everyone tonight? Sorry I haven't written my daily testing post - I have been out at a party tonight and so I won't be able to write it until tomorrow...
half getting excited about the 2010 season - half already jaded by the USF1 saga
What's happened now?
well they haven't been put out of their misery yet
stefan had a bit of tirade at them
Oh I read that earlier!
Night Jackie, Evening Gavin.
Anyone seen this yet?
Aus GP moving to Avalon
A PLAN to move the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix to a purpose-built, $200 million race circuit at Avalon is being considered in an attempt to keep the event in Victoria.
Not moving, y'kna, considering moving. Bad choice of words.
"CAMS chief executive Graham Fountain said his organisation was given about $130,000 last year by the FIA to complete a facility masterplan."
Very generous of them - is this how Tilke ends up with all the contracts?
Even if the Horse Whisperer calls them Serbian vultures, they seem to have a very similar language...
Morning, all.
*weeps*
But why? There's hasn't been any complaints with Albert Park, has there?
And planning for 2015 is WAY too far away at this point. I don't see this being news in 2012 or 2013, because it'll stay put in Albert Park.
That is not the first time a new circuit has been suggested to keep the race in Victoria or by another state to nick it like Melbourne did from Adelaide
Because the greenies and hand-wringers are starting to convince the city council that a race that brings in hundreds of millions is a nuisance and bad for the city...
bernie - wants it under lights
can't imagine that ever happening at albert park
Seems an unusual thing for an international governing body to be giving money to a circuit that doesn't exist. Tilke gets the work because there are only two FIA approved circuit designers. Him and the British guy - Brown? - who has modified a few circuits but as far as I know has never done a complete new track. Given how badly Tilke does them he has to be worth a go.
Don't blame me - I'm just the stats guy ?
It may be a lot better than Melbourne but I guess Amy is not going to be happy since she moved to be next to the race
But Melbourne is awesome! :(
Could be, but even then this is too early to be thinking of 2015. I don't think this will come through.
And I don't think this will stop the greenies from complaining. For them, it'll be just moving the problem, not eliminating it.
There will be sooner or later.
To build a circuit from scratch takes a long time. Five years is not a lot.
i love Melbourne!!
"The study will be carried out by industry experts from the UK and could begin within months."
could be him? are you thinking of apex circuit design?
Maybe if Mark Webber wins 4 world titles in the next 5 years, we could have both.
IIRC, Sepang, Shanghai, Sakhir, Abu Dhabi all did it in 3, from planning to completion.
Hmm. Maybe if they had 2 extra years they wouldn't suck?
