We have reached Thursday already, and today is IRL driver Ryan Briscoe's birthday. I've kind of heard of him, but only through vaguely following Franck through a couple of races. I think I preferred it when it was Montoya's birthday, but there you go. Here are some of the things on our minds today:

  • It was podcast central here yesterday, as not one, not two, but three shows exited Sidepodcast HQ for the wider world. F1 Minute, obviously covering the goings on at Spa, followed by the latest Sidepodchat with RG, and finally the Singapore Preview. If that lot won't keep you busy, nothing will!
  • It also seems like the time of year to set up a new blog, as we had Sara (not Sarah) setting up her very own corner of the web under the same name. Also, quite a while back, Amy finally gave in and got a blog to document her travels and plans.
  • F1.com have posted the final of a three-part series taking a closer look at the work a race engineer does to make a driver's weekend the best it can possibly be. The series talks to Barrichello's engineer Jock Clear throughout the three parts with plenty of insight about the realities of a GP. Definitely worth a look.

We're already hearing reports from Singapore about personnel trying to stay on European time.  It seems that copious amounts of the previously unnamed energy drink are the best way to go. For once I am not jealous not to be there! As ever, I'll see you in the comments.

    Why were you annoying?

If anything I was annoying for commenting too much all day.

  • Alex Andronov23/09/2009 at 23:13

    Why? :(

I was in the pub drinking wine with free wifi and a brand new mac book pro.

I was a bit excited. But it wasn't mine.

  • Alison23/09/2009 at 23:15

I know this feeling.... My sister has an iphone :( I now hate her.

So now I am looking forward to tomorrow night. Not so much that I am not home yet and I need to be in work for seven. :(

What do people know about Samsung mobiles? Orange seem to like them. I never made it to a shop today, there is one in Dorch so I could take a look before I get the train..

I've gotta share this photoshop with you when I'm done guys. it's not F1 related whatsoever but I canot believe how close I am to actually doing this!

No Gordon Ramsay style pig portraits?

    Nope.

Just a lot of photo manipulation. A stupid amount.

    I hope you have a slow day at work tomorrow :-) {Comment #11}

But hopefully not as slow as mine was yesterday. I spent one hour filing and stuffing envelopes, two hours doing absolutely nothing, one hour having lunch, one more hour doing absolutely nothing and then got envious glances from the paid members of staff when my supervisor decided to let me go home two hours early on the proviso that I post the envelopes I'd stuffed earlier.

The toughest part of the day was not looking bored for the sake of the traffic passing the large window into reception...

  • Alison23/09/2009 at 23:41

    I'm very tired post-run. I might call it a night :)

Yes! Finally! lemme explain a bit, apologies if it's way off topic.

basically, on this Muse website/forum I visit, there is this lthread I started. Via this twitpic it is called What is Matt Looking At? where the lead singer looked at a computer (a mac ;)) and all different things and various muse related stuff would be in the screen (just to plug, it has 56,000 views and over 1,000 replied!) and whatnot. Anyways, someone said to me earlier tonight 'There is no way you can make him not be there and it not look ok...'

Well... I gave it a go...

  • Pat W23/09/2009 at 23:49

Well... I gave it a go...

    what the...!

    Oh my God. Well done!

  • Lukeh23/09/2009 at 23:51

    Cheers!

There's actually no point whatsoever to it, I just wantd to give it a go! I can't believe it came out quite well, honestly I thought it was a no go zone...

Yeah, there are two ways of putting that.... I prefer "eye for detail" I think my staff are more likely to go down the "nothing's ever flipping good enough" route.....

Maybe we should... I'm not sure which other communities have been invited, they could be added to it. It depends where Alia wants to centralise the organisation I suppose.

That's not a bad idea. I am in the process of inviting the various communities I'm involved with, but I can't even log into my own wiki any more and using the comments section of my blog doesn't seem to help organisation much. I want to centralise organisation at my blog but it doesn't seem to be possible.

  • Amy24/09/2009 at 04:06

i can confirm mr wolf that mobile doohickey is great on older phones except for when you miss more than 10 comments and have to load the page of ye olde comments to see what you missed.

i was not a big fan of sentosa it felt very, very touristy. But then again having a pool would have been nice!

we chose the La Rasa Sentosa last year. With all the overpriced hotels in the centre that one felt like bargain. And it worked out well. If the race was in the normal time I would probably prefer to stay in the city, but the schedule the way it is in Singapore it is great

  • Amy24/09/2009 at 04:27

i stayed in the city but i went the cheap backpacker hostel route which i was thankful for when everyone tried to leave via the same station at the same time! Took 15 minutes to walk back and i stopped at mcdonalds on the way :D

Although to be honest I am certain that the reason I am less keen on rice is because of the awful way it can be cooked in this country. Rice done properly is awesome.

Annoyed at the latest Todt Love in!

It's this quote that really gets my goat:

"[Ari] came to lunch on July 3 and said he was going to stand, and asked me if I would support him. I said I couldn't support him as I promised to support Jean.

"I said, 'I will be very honest. I think Jean is a much better candidate. You have no experience, you have never run anything, you've not been in charge of even the smallest organisation, you have no concept of what it is like. You didn't even run your own rally car, you had a co-driver to do that.'"

He's essentially saying, "of course I'm biased, I never said I wouldn't be"

Although in some ways of course what he's doing is pointing out "it's interesting that he is complaing now that I'm on Todt's side. After all he asked me to be on his side".

What a fiefdom the FIA has become. Somebody linked to a great article about his rule yesterday, sadly it's from the JYS-hating website (and hypocritical too!)

We were talking about it yesterday. It's a bit of a grey area, this. As much as I hate to admit it, for all of Max's exaggerations, he kinda had a point. If Ari wanted Max to stay neutral, was it right for him to ask for Max's support?

  • Journeyer24/09/2009 at 06:35

I do think it's always been that way. There is a little naivete in what Ari has been saying and while that makes him seem like a breath of fresh air to us it does suggest to me that if he won he may have some difficulty schmoosing and politicking to get stuff done.

It does surprise me that Ari seems a bit naive, especially as he's a former MEP.

Sony mentioned that its 65% complete.. After 4 years or so. So that means 35% of the game will be done in 6 months? Sounds rushed.. They never had a chance with a q4 2009 release, after sony were so adamant it would be done by then. Grr.

    Exactly.

GT5 is starting to sound like the videogame version of the A380. Magnificent yet bloated.

Meanwhile, in F1 news, brunch with Bernie is done. Mr Noble to finish his article soon-ish. Here's an interesting bit, though from Mr Roberts:

Sat next to Bernie Ecclestone at lunch just now and he was talking up the idea of having a grand prix on the streets of Manhattan!

All good and well, but is it gonna happen really?

He's been wanting this since 1983. I note that Dan Brunell does not think it will happen - too many NIMBY's and Green agendas.

FFS - go back to Long Beach, people!

As Joe said, the timezone just isn't friendly enough. The USGP will almost definitely be held anywhere east of the Mississippi (preferably NYC or Indy).

Fair Enough. Road America or the Glen then?

  • Alison24/09/2009 at 07:44

I'm so sore after my run yesterday!

I'm pretty sure that's me resolved never to run again....

  • Journeyer24/09/2009 at 07:45

Fair Enough. Road America or the Glen then?

Possible, especially the Glen. But they seriously need a lot of updating to be back up to F1 standard.

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)24/09/2009 at 07:47

I'm so sore after my run yesterday!

I'm pretty sure that's me resolved never to run again....

    How far did you run?

I planned 3km, but I tried a new route and got lost so I ran 4km...

I found a lovely wooded path with a duckpond though... and I beat my per km time!

  • Alex Andronov24/09/2009 at 07:48

I'm so sore after my run yesterday!

I'm not sure running can be good for one really.

  • Alison24/09/2009 at 07:49

8km It was really hard work though. I'm coming down with a cold, I couldn't feel it really until I was running and trying to breathe.... I didn't mean to go so far but I got a bit distracted and then I'd gone too far from my house :P

  • Alison24/09/2009 at 07:52

Ironically, despite living in the Lake District, I'm forced to run on the roads. There aren't paths or tracks near me at all. It's a pest.

    Marina Bay Circuit Walk

The blogger did it on Wednesday. Most interesting here are the new kerbs at Singapore Sling (Turn 10, where Fisi and Kimi went off last year). They seem very similar to what they have now at Monza.

  • Alison24/09/2009 at 07:55

Anyhow, I have to go to work now. Then I have my Italian class tonight. I'm not sure when I became quite so busy....

Morning everyone. Am in a terrible mood today, it must be Thursday.

  • Maverick24/09/2009 at 08:09

We’re already hearing reports from Singapore about personnel trying to stay on European time.

That seems to be an error in the scheduling, as you can understand why they do it. However, they're then going to have just a week to switch to Japanese time. Ooohh... they're back-to-back next year as well.

  • Alex Andronov24/09/2009 at 08:09

Morning everyone. Am in a terrible mood today, it must be Thursday.

I got home last night to find a shed in my garden. I wasn't expecting it until next week, and that's despite the fact it says it was being delivered yesterday on my calendar. Only the fact that there is a GP this weekend meant I'd already cleared the area.

  • Christine24/09/2009 at 08:13

Ooh, a shed! Is it a proper shed for hiding in or is it just for putting stuff in?

Is this like a slower paced sequel to The Fugitive...

"I came home, and there was a shed in my house, it had a prosthetic door, I fought with this shed!"

  • Alex Andronov24/09/2009 at 08:14

    Awesome!

It was actually the wifi I was running off when I was in the car for the parade lap!

Fair do's. Drifting isn't everyone's cup of tea, granted, but it is a great expression of car control.

Still, it's more from the Forza camp than there was from GT5 at the Tokyo Games Show. They announced the release date - March 2010. So all this talk of coming out in 2009 was utter rubbish. This is why I've fully converted to Forza. Doesn't take them 5 years to make 1 game.

    Ecclestone: Briatore ban too harsh

    Hmmm... Bernie says that:

The people in the Renault F1 team had not the slightest idea.

This despite the presence of Witness X. I guess Bernie wasn't too impressed by what happened. If Flavio does sue, I wonder what role Bernie would play...

    FTA:

"But it was not the right thing to say. It would have been just as easy to go – to say: 'I was caught with my hand in the till, it seemed a good idea at the time, and I am sorry.' There is an organisation that works very, very well on that idea – where the people go to a box and confess..."

I love how those at the top can just say what they want...

Just as well that Bernie isn't probably all that religious, then.

Does the new(ish) Pope watch F1? I know John Paul II went to Maranello a couple of times...

BTW, was it just me, or did the site go down for a while there?

Donington given an extended deadline to get their S... together ;)

Yeah I know, ain't gonna happen etc... but I find this quote interesting:

Ecclestone also dismissed talk that if the event reverts to Silverstone it will be called the 'European' Grand Prix.

"It's in England? It will be the British GP," he said. "Why would you want to call it the European GP? People talk about the British GP having been at Silverstone for 100 years, so why should we change it?"

I seem to remember Donington hosting a European GP, along with Nurburgring and others, so where's the problem here?

  • Maverick24/09/2009 at 08:55

oooh where's the good place to go so I can taunt him?

    Oooh, SPC is back up

Best place is your local shed specialist, comparing similar sized sheds

B&Q: £419, free delivery, installation (if you're lazy) £140 - for that you get a cheap chipboard roof and a cheap plastic window

Local: £305, £10 delivery, free installation - a proper wooden roof and glass window

They're not even close. Was happy to put it up myself but if they're going to put it up for nothing why bother? I suppose building yourself would give you room for negotiating a price cut though.

  • Scott Woodwiss24/09/2009 at 08:57

    What was wrong with it?

  • Scott Woodwiss24/09/2009 at 09:17

    What was wrong with it?

Basically, if I remember right, the rear tyre was bald, the valve linings on both wheels needed replacing, the rear axle was slightly bent and the brake cables needed replacing as well and some of the bearings too. That plus charges for every cable they'd have to fit and a general service.

So yeah, I'd be better off getting a new one. :P

I seem to remember Donington hosting a European GP, along with Nurburgring and others, so where's the problem here?

I believe that the year Donington hosted European GP there was British GP proper elsewehere. Same with Nurburgring, they called their race European cos German one was over at Hockenheim (except 2007 when there was no Hockenheim race but Nurburgring had no rights to German GP name)

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)24/09/2009 at 09:32

  • F1Wolf24/09/2009 at 09:35

should be that way but it depends on the contracts and the rights to the British GP name. I however believe that Bernie is smart enough to tie the rights to British GP name to the ability to actually host the race :-)

Maybe McLaren do a Force India and announce it this weekend

What do you guys make of this:

    http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2009/09/23/do-f1-drivers-help-decide-strategies-alonso-doesnt-hamilton-does/#more-25506

Doesn't Hamilton in fact say that he sometimes has NO input into strategy?

ooh, get in there first, I like that idea :D

you McLaren will take Alonso from under the Ferrari noses and pair him again with Hamilton creating a two champ line up :-)

  • Alex Andronov24/09/2009 at 10:14

Doesn't Hamilton in fact say that he sometimes has NO input into strategy?

Yes it does. It is a terrible headline which doesn't correlate with what he says at all. Hamilton wanting to change things but being unable to means he has the same input as Alonso.

  • Scott Woodwiss24/09/2009 at 10:18

Forza 3 demo is just 10% away from download complete! It's agonizing!

Notice that no one is mentioning who won last year's Singapore GP this week? Renault also want to remove Turn 17. FIA discussing with track. - Witness X

Is it even possible to remove a corner?

no, but you can ignore it the way Piquet did last year :-)

It's always the same with F1Fanatic Headlines. I end up having to read the article 3 times just to undertstand it :(

Exactly. the article is at odds with the headline and the conclusion?

I wonder how many times Legard will mention what happened at turn 17 last year, each time we see it.

That's nothing compared to what my dog did to my Mark Hughes Lewis Hamilton: The Full Story - it was destroyed fortunately after I had read it and anyway it had only cost 1 pound with three sets of previous discounts at the local book store.

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)24/09/2009 at 11:23

    never!

  • Alex Andronov24/09/2009 at 11:30

Can Bob not do it permanently?

Bob was responsible for one of my favorite formula 1 related pun headlines ever. While Renault were doing well with Alonso he had said to the Sun that he thought Ferrari didn't have much of a chance at the next race... Headline:

    Bell Tolls for Ferrari

  • Maverick24/09/2009 at 11:31

I know there is still the matter of getting Singapore out of the way but I'm getting excited about Suzuka already. Is that strange?

Singapore is very beautiful, but is also a somewhat staged spectacle (in more senses than one judging by recent events). Its not really a race-track designed to produce exciting racing, so the entertainment comes from cheating or random electrical discharges from the tramways that like to prey on Red Bulls.

  • Bassano Clapper24/09/2009 at 12:00

1 and a 1/2 hours left at work and then it's "hello weekend!"

It also has a kickstand at the back so you can stand it up when watching a movie!

sounds interesting. was discussed on macbreak this week i think.

is it something i have a use for then?

    currently:

Just reading the Thursday press conference:

    http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/78817

"Just picking up your point there about being fans, what about the fans of the sport, people who pay good money to come and watch? Is there a danger that a relationship of trust might be fractured with the audience – not just people who come to a race but also who watch it on television, listen to it on radio and follow it in magazines and so on, that they'll think 'can we really trust what's happening on the track, can we trust Formula One?'?"

Who do you think asked this rather long question?

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)24/09/2009 at 13:11

  • Journeyer24/09/2009 at 13:15

    From Mr Noble:

Mario Theissen has confirmed that the BMW Sauber team will run Ferrari engines next year in its new guise

    Two things:

    1. Does this mean Theissen is staying with Qadbak and leaving BMW?

    2. I thought they don't have a guaranteed spot on the grid next year. If Kubica is signing on with them as Joe is thinking, does this mean it's likely we'll have 14 teams racing next year?

  • Maverick24/09/2009 at 13:16

    Thats unreal. Seriously?

Made me think of "Airplane!" I have this image of a Japanese journalist sat next to him comitting harakiri.

  • Journeyer24/09/2009 at 13:20

Also, with Kovalainen possibly going to Renault and Kubica possibly staying at Qadbak, it should mean Barrichello is en route to Williams. Frank must be hoping he brings the #1 with him...

Theissen sounds confident. And Joe is saying Kubica might stay on. I get good vibes from them - perhaps FOTA are really gonna let them onto the grid?

Besides, they'd probably have a good chance of beating the 4 new teams.

  • Amy24/09/2009 at 15:36

oh boo, my exchange has an outage for the next 6 hours for maintenance. Unacceptable! It's like they want me to sleep...

    ....I love you, 3G dongle.

  • me24/09/2009 at 15:36

Is this really 'cos of race fixing or 'cos of Alonso?

    ooh, you big cynic :)

    what you think?

  • Journeyer24/09/2009 at 15:37

Is this really 'cos of race fixing or 'cos of Alonso?

Alonso - they sponsor whatever team Alonso's in - even during that 1 year with McLaren.

  • James24/09/2009 at 15:37

not allowed out until the homepage is done, sadly.

and how is it going Mr C? :)

  • me24/09/2009 at 15:37

and how is it going Mr C? :)

mmm. rather well. a mountain still to climb though.

  • Christine24/09/2009 at 15:37

    what you think?

If they normally follow Alonso about, then they've just been handed a great excuse!

  • RG24/09/2009 at 15:38

and how is it going Mr C? :)

Will we be allowed to see you before 2011?

Alonso - they sponsor whatever team Alonso's in - even during that 1 year with McLaren.

the ad they made that year freaks me out. That's my worst nightmare right there.

If they normally follow Alonso about, then they've just been handed a great excuse!

if they'd hated what renault had done, they would've bailed when the team confessed all... not waited until after alonso was completely exonerated :)

  • Christine24/09/2009 at 15:39

I have dropiod another clue to my mysterious location...

    London!

    indeed.

  • Amy24/09/2009 at 15:40

  • Alex Andronov24/09/2009 at 15:45

Ooooh neat who's uploading pictures of the British museum on the drop?

  • James24/09/2009 at 15:45

    Q. But what do you say to people who say you must have known about this?

FA: Well, they can read what the FIA has issued – the resolution. It is quite clear. If it's not understood there then they have a problem of reading.

    I heart Fernando for that.

    Q. What uniform will you be wearing next year?

FA: I don't know. That would be a good question to answer and hopefully I will know soon.

    ...

    Q. How soon?

    FA: As soon as possible.

    ...

    Q. Have you signed a contract?

    FA: No.

Hmm. The drivers market needs to start moving at some point.

Is this really 'cos of race fixing or 'cos of Alonso?

    ooh, you big cynic :)

    what you think?

Well if they are continuing to sponsor Alonso it's obvious innit - great excuse to break a contract to be associated with Alonso and Ferrari instead.

Remember they stopped sponsoring McLaren for exactly the same reason...

  • Amy24/09/2009 at 15:47

Oh was I not supposed to say?

we were guessing where he was. Having never been to London I had no hope.

Well it's a good start. But Audi are not going to let them beat them again so easily, and it's a long race.

One of my coworkers is planning on going down there for the race. Too bad I have these things called "children" and "responsibilities"

  • Amy24/09/2009 at 15:52

    Boo.

Aww. Just building it up a bit ... you guys said last time you didn't know much about Sportscars so I will try and help where possible.

The Peugeots will be fast, but they aren't as experienced at Petit Le Mans as Audi is, so that counts against them...

  • Amy24/09/2009 at 15:56

from the comments on your post I am going to take a stab in the dark and say Lukeh doesn't like fish and chips because he puts mint sauce on them which would cleary ruin them.

"I'm just staying on European time"

  • RG24/09/2009 at 16:43

what is with all the mistakes? :)

    'ello. How was the queueing?

  • Lukeh24/09/2009 at 16:49

    'ello. How was the queueing?

Annoying on the feet. We spent 2 hours queueing but this was rounded off by an hour in the bar before that, and an hour after it. As for the induction in the morning, I can;t believe they felt necessary to explain to 3rd year students how to search the internet. Worst. Induction. Ever.

apart from that, it's been a beautiful day and a good laugh at times, it was just the ridiculous queuing! Oh and my ID photo of myself is stupidly smug. I should be ashamed.

  • Journeyer24/09/2009 at 16:51

As for the induction in the morning, I can't believe they felt necessary to explain to 3rd year students how to search the internet. Worst. Induction. Ever.

Look! This is called "the Internet". And this is "Google"! Not googol, "Google".

Is it not weird to live like that? Sleep when the sun comes up, work in the dark and all that?

Oh, no, that's what I do when I work on American time. :D European time means I get up just in time for lunch, go to work in the afternoon, have dinner, get home at 10-ish, then stay up til 1 or 2. :)

  • Journeyer24/09/2009 at 17:10

Is it not weird to live like that? Sleep when the sun comes up, work in the dark and all that?

And that's why I hate working on American time. European time is just perfect - get up late, but don't screw up your body clock. ;)

to a point, yup. although renault have only lost four races worth of sponsorship. both would've pulled at the end of the year anyhow.

  • Journeyer24/09/2009 at 18:34

to a point, yup. although renault have only lost four races worth of sponsorship. both would've pulled at the end of the year anyhow.

But the negative publicity is worth its weight in coal for Renault. ING could've just waited it out and stayed quiet. But pulling out publicly early makes Renault look very, very bad.

Do you think the ING thing is somebody trying to get rid of Renault so that Sauber can come in? Or would the FIA just have banned the team if they wanted to do that?

  • RG24/09/2009 at 18:58

Do you think the ING thing is somebody trying to get rid of Renault so that Sauber can come in?

Rats, my plan was going so well too.

  • Dank24/09/2009 at 18:59

Sounds rather swish. I live just down the road (well ok, 10 miles) from where he is studying and they've spent shed loads on doing the place up. Looks like he's chosen a good place - though High Wycombe is a bit dodgy!

    yourself?

Not done much this week besides enrolment. I've gone into it with a different attitude - wondering what it's like as I didn't want to get to 45 and wonder what life would have been like if I never went! Got four weeks to make my mind up and a job to fall back into if it goes belly up!

Sounds alright so far though. My tutor was the chief designer at Cosworth and the lab will be getting their hands on a KERS unit soon (I didn't have the heart to say its a white-elephant) and a wind tunnel is set to go online in a couple of years.

Shall see how it pans out!

ING and Mutua Madrilena have pulled their sponsorship of the Renault F1 - hence I guess the team will have to remove all of the sponsors logos and the their website will have to be re-designed. Since Mutua Madrilena follow Alonso is this a clear message that Alonso is going to Ferrari and therefore Kimi to McLaren.

I hadn't considered that. I suppose ING andd MM would have to wait till after the hearing before taking any action so I guess Renault could have known for a couple of days

  • Steven Roy24/09/2009 at 19:57

Evening everyone. We are still here and may well be about to order food.

    Where's here?

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)24/09/2009 at 19:58

I assume the Renault may look like this, Apologies for external link as droppy is playing up for me

Also notice the top of the nose will have no ING. Also, the other sponsor, which was above the Renault logo, is now gone too

    Christ, it's still ugly!

    wanted for 2010:

    x1 chief of engineering

    x2 drivers

    x1 title sponsor

    x1 additional sponsor

    x1 decent livery

Why do they not just take over BMW's two drivers - could hardly do better. The parent company is going to have to contribute quite a bit as I think sponsorship will be really difficult.

Actually that would have been a fit punishment you can race but you have to have Piquet as your driver. On second thoughts I would have pulled out rather than that fate! Possibly the FIA could threaten the rest of the teams if caught lying, cheat, fixing the race the punishment will be a "Piquet in the Seat". That would everyone clean.

At least there is now the possibility to get water out of the ground. The cost of shipping water up is humungous and it takes the place of other cargo.

Alonso has made up his mind about who he will be driving for next year today - there is no contract in place but he has decided. This is absolutely not related to Renault's sponsorship problems that were revealed today.

100,000 feet is normally considered to be space. Strange as it may seem this is how NASA started. They put a guy on a balloon and floated him up to 100,000 feet and had him jump off.

  • Rich24/09/2009 at 21:10

Depends on RG's condition - if I were Renault I would probably run him - they do not have much to lose and it gives the team an idea of which driver to use next year.

So why is she doing a class if her's is so good? Surely not just to show off

She's not much better than I am. It's just that I mentioned I had my A Level and she thought I should be better than I was. I thought it was pretty rude though. I did mention that was 4 years ago now....

The class I'm at is for people "working towards fluency" and I'm a bit more stuttery than that really but I think it's all in there. I just need the confidence to get stuck in.

  • Scott Woodwiss24/09/2009 at 21:32

What have i missed F1 and Sidepodworldwise?

Renault have lost ING and Mutua Madrileinia (or however it's spelt) with immediate effect.

School language education doesn't really teach you to speak it but to understand it. The best thing with a laguage is to go to a country where it is the main language and just go for it. It really doesn't matter what level you are at because you will improve so quickly.

  • Jon Waldock24/09/2009 at 21:35

For anyone who is a fan of Ted/Lee/Jake/Jonathan you should download the 4 most recent "Goodnight Horse! The F1 Badger Podcast" they have interviews with each one, they're very good

  • Scott Woodwiss24/09/2009 at 21:36

I'm supporting the BMWs in GT2 this weekend. Andy Priaulx's driving one of them and his car was quickest in practice :D

How much travelling are you doing this year? It's not easy to do but while you are working in retail working out what you are going to do you could be doing the same thing in Italy and learning the language to a level you will never reach if you take classes till you are 105.

Hmmmm. I can't really though. I'm saving up for New Zealand. I doubt they'd let me run an Italian shop really. Not while my Italian's so ropey :(

I lived in Paris for a year and there were people in things like Irish bars who spoke little French and certainly could deal with French customers. My French is rough and I ended up translating for them lots of times. Once they had been there for a few months it was completely different.

Evening folks. Jsut a quick one tonight.

LEft the flat at 05:40 today as I was working in Milton Keynes (Big up the concrete cow massive) and got in at 21:30.

    Tired Adie.

I saw a cracking Veejay Mallya lookielikey on the A34, driving a black merc. If there wasn't a race this weekend I'd have thought it was him.

There's nothing you can do to speed it up. You can use iTunes to sync less stuff, so that might help. Restoring my Classic the other night took about half an hour for 7000+ songs.

  • Adie24/09/2009 at 22:35

It's easier from a 'post quick thoughts' point of view.

pretty sure thats an unmentionable. if it isnt, it should be!

  • Adie24/09/2009 at 22:56

Sounds good. I reckon I could do with a new header image anyway. I'll find something and send it to you, OK?

Sure - [email protected] I'll have a play - pretty busy with work so it may take a few days if you're ok to hang on.

If you get anything sorted before let me know.

mediatemple. avoid at all costs. f1minute is with slicehost. much better.

Ah - I'm with GoDaddy - no issues at all. However, I don't have anywhere near the traffic you do so that may help!

    It's simply called: The Pass!

Did he just do.. what I think he did!!

I've got a temporary solution at the moment. I was thinking of having a Pug 908 as a header. Either that or something which signifies speed.

  • Alison24/09/2009 at 22:58

hehehe. it's my fault for not moving yet.

Awww you're really busy at the moment though! At first, I got really excited and thought you were uploading the new homepage or something. Then I realised that was ridiculous....

  • Lukeh24/09/2009 at 22:58

    Yay. What do I win.

I watch that now, and can you imagine the backlash if someone did that pass to win in F1 now?

    It would melt the internets.

  • Alex Andronov24/09/2009 at 23:02

    you weren't led astray?

I was led quite a lot astray... As the two shots videos on qik prove... But the night reached the end. The pub closed and I said my goodbyes and jumped in a cab!

  • me24/09/2009 at 23:03

I am in waterloo wondering whether to sober up here or in dorchester.

I do that route to Poole to Waterloo at least once a week.

Being sober on the train is overrated. You can fall asleep and go to Weymouth.

    Fun!

  • Nick25/09/2009 at 00:34
