Halfway through the week now, and it is Robert Doornbos' birthday. The former Minardi/Red Bull driver was last seen (by me anyway) driving around in the IndyCar series, probably getting in the way of Franck. Anyway, here are some of the things we're talking about:
- Adrian Sutil has had his fair share of bad luck in Formula 1, but the man himself is not about to let things get him down, not now that the team are on the up. He's hoping for good things in the next few races, so he can end the season on a high.
- Australian GP organisers have said they are more than happy to take the second slot on the calendar for next year, but I don't really believe them. Surely there is nothing quite like hosting the opening round of the year? And they must know how rubbish it was last time they weren't the first race of the year.
- Lastly, Mr C worked really hard following the Sidepodradio fun and games, and all the replay videos are now up. With all the video and audio goodness up, it's now just a countdown until we get the edited versions ready for the podcast feed. Yay for Sidepodradio!

its on the wrong side of the apartment for afternoon sun and the other buildings block most of it in the morning, plus my blinds are usually closed but it does get a little!
hehe, when i moved into my house for the third year of uni, i had a room whcih faced the morning sun, i slept in it for 1 night then had to buy blackout blinds, the walls were painted dark blue, you could never tell what time it was without a clock in that room :D

As a former salesperson, can I just say how difficult it is to know:
(a) whether you need help or not,
(b) whether you will bite my head off just for saying hi and
(c) whether you will actually help pay my wages after spending half an hour with you?
I emailed the Spa people about buying grandstand tickets separately and they said if you want to sit next to each other, put an order number of your friends in the comment box as you book and they'll allocate you seats next to them. The seat allocation isn't done until just before the event so you should be able to sit with people even if you book separately.

Why aren't you left alone if you cheerily say you're just having a look, normally I get asked again within about 2 minutes by the same person. I find that frustrating.
Obviously this isn't a guarantee at all, and it's not going to work if you buy your tickets 3 days before the GP!

We have been instructed at work to wear our teams colours on Friday since its AFL finals weekend.
I am going to wear my victory shirt because its my team, and oh my it's a colour.
That is ridiculous. Shops should have a "Come and ask for us" policy posted at the entrance. I think if you want to buy something, it's your responsibility to go to the checkout and say what you want to buy. It sounds like some shop chains have absolutely no idea what people want.
Although the Apple Store has got rid of checkouts, and now you've no idea where to go, especially when all the staff are busy.

I got it in their 30% off sale, so not too bad, its the shipping thats a killer. They often have free UK shipping though so good for some! If I can I like to get them from the F1 shop because its cheaper than getting them shipped over, and also cheaper than the prices at Grands Prix themselves.

Ahhh. My situation's a bit trickier. Whenever I buy anything online, I get it shipped to the US to my aunt's, then they send it here via courier. Our mail system is unreliable at best, and nonexistent at worst. Compared to GP weekend prices, there's not really too much of a difference based on my experience.

a) I have no idea what was the point of having Alonso there, where he was introduced as an innocent person anyway, and no investigative questions went in his direction
b) Piquet was granted immunity for "telling the truth" while 2 other people (Symonds and mr X) told different story about where the idea came from. So either Symonds lied and should have been punished as liar, or Piquet lied and should have received no immunity
c) the whole atmosphere seemed to me like we are friends here, all nice people, so lets hang Briatore and go home

1. symonds admitted to it, compared to briatore who's always denied it, so that alone merits flav a heavier penalty for me

If the idea cam from Piquet Snr I could understand it, Junior is not bright enough to have come up with this scheme. So you are saying it is best that we do not find out about activities like this - sweep under the carpet? If you do not give immunity you will not get the evidence to clean-up the industry.

the theories why would he are all over the place and they all have something to do with his new contract. there may all be wrong, Piquet might have been forced into it, Symonds and Mr X might have made their testimonies up. but that is my point ... one or the other made up their stories but both sides were priased by WMSC for cooperating ...
The strategy of crashing in order to secure a good result for Alonso actually takes a a lot of planning - it might seem simply. Firstly it would only work with the following - in a window of 2-3 laps and after Alonso had pitted, at one part of the track where there was no crane and finally not such a big accident as to incur a red flag. This has hallmarks of a strategist not a driver.
It was all immaterial though, if flav had turned up, changed his arument and brought a smart lawyer then it might have been different.
I expect witnessx was a person close to Pat so i dont think that would have stood up to all that much cross scrutiny. I dont know why he wanted imunity, its hightly likely we will find out who he is, if not this weekend then before the end of the season.

Everyone seems to have a problem with Piquet's immunity. Fernando was not exactly honest at McLaren and attempted to "blackmail" Ron unless he got number 1 preferential status. Seems as bad to me. Now look at honest Lewis - twice told lies to the FIA - he was also given immunity from further penalties (over losing his points). Either all three driver should have had punishments like bans or none of them or you accept their whistle-blower status (they each provided the necessary evidence to bring about closure of the investigation). The problem is Nelsinho is seen as a rubbish driver so lets punish him more, oh dear we cannot punish Fernando and Lewis because they are such good drives - this is extreme DOUBLE STANDARDS.
I think the implication was that by offering Piquet immunity, he would stick to the version that the FIA wanted rather than tell the complete truth.
I don't think so completely - it's not like Piquet can be trusted, is it?
I am sure Piquet's statement was not independently drafted of FIA guidance. So I would like to know what you think the rest is to make it the complete truth. (I am sure there is more truth than has been revealed).
Well it's just that Nelson blames the team for making him do it, and Slymonds, Flabbio and Mysterex all say it was his idea. Plus nothing was said about Fernando, who was brought in to say he did nothing wrong, even though he was the main beneficiary and he never apparently questioned a crazy strategy...
I dunno though, Hamilton went through this phase of light fueling early this season. He stopped about lap 12 in Monaco.... Perhaps inspired by Fernando's "luck" last Singapore GP?. Stupid perhaps, but he went with it as a strategy without any persuasion.
Could well have been because of that - but at the time I thought it was a silly idea.

It was all rubbish - yes creative interpretation - but such interpretation extends to many other areas. Frankly it was sour grapes by the other teams (including my own fan team BMW Sauber).
If a factory is built it will be some tokenism with all the design and testing in Britain.
Supposing the Malaysian factory is built, can anyone forsee an issue that Honda had with having two factories? They had double the amount of people and they ended up doing much of the same (and conflicting) work...

I do find them interesting. I tend to skip the old man articles though. My favourite bit about them was reading over the old issues as I hadn't watched the races concerned at all, it gave me a lot of background knowledge and stopped me feeling quite so ignorant. Reading a few at once from no background also gives you some idea of his little biases :P

My post was to tell me that for the purposes of my retake in December the Income Statement, which is what a Profit & Loss A/c is called now, is actually called a Statement of Comprehensive Income now.

OK - there is still a lot of missing pieces to the Singapore Saga that have not been cleared up. Personally I do not really buy that Piquet made the suggestion since I am not sure he would know enough about the track, the safety and Alonso's situation - and frankly from interviews he does seem to be the brightest of guys. It seems the "Window of Opportunity" to hatch the plan was between Alonso's fuel pump issues on Saturday and putting the car into parc ferme. Would Nelsinho have the necessary information in which to make the connections that lead to this strategy. Would the team listen to a 23 year old driver with a poor F1 racing record?

the friendfeed way is good, but I'd get annoyed at not knowing whose said something until I move the mouse over something.
The doohicky has it's moments, especially when we have breakout threads.
i have gotten to know people by their writing style. for example, i see a reference to "resistance". no need to hover over that link ;)

You need a back to basics holiday, my friend. I can suggest a few places in SE Asia that are just about growing out of dial up. You'll tire of that very quickly and your FriendFeed will then be the local bar or restaurant ;)
I know generally where certain products will be in the store but i have no clue as to specific aisle.

No. The refuelling rules last year are the same as this, except that this year we get told what the weights are and can therefore figure out fuel loads.
This is where having an annual comes in handy...
