We haven't had a lot to say in terms of posts the past few days, but that's because the most interesting things are happening in the comments. Here's a quick round up of everything you've missed out on if you've not been keeping up:

  • Gavin found the ultimate in entertaining Formula One challenges - name F1 driver's using their helmet design alone! Some of us are making a better fist of this than others, so why not download the spreadsheet and have a go yourselves? Let us know how you get on in the comments.
  • We're following Kimi's escapades as he tackles the Lapland Rally in a Fiat Punto. We can't pretend to know much about the sport but Kathi's on hand with live timing and pictures, while Lady Snowcat dug out some mental YouTube videos. Can't wait to see what today's action brings.
  • According to F1 Racing magazine, Ron Dennis has a sense of humour. So how is it that he's only decided to reveal the thing two months before he steps aside?

I can't believe you can beat the 'helmet game', but if you know of any similar challenges, don't be shy, share them via drop.io. We're easily amused.

Yesterday, our favourite ever micro-blogging service Identi.ca received a lick of paint, so now we have us a new group for purposes unknown. Currently it has but one joinee, so come along and help make us feel less lonely.

By contrast the Fantasy Racers league is going great guns, with over 100 confirmed teams signed-up already and it's still only January. If you've not created one yet, please follow the enrolment instructions and let us know who you are in the comments. We'll be awaiting your contributions.

one additional feature of real-time doohickey, that we're trying to squeeze in before sunday's show, looks something like this:

it's a little bit of additional meta data, that keeps track of who's left comments and which threads are popular during your active real-time session. it'll reset if the page reloads.

we'll let you know more if we can make it stable. in the meantime, if you have any thoughts or think there's other information that would make tracking conversations easier, please yell :)

  • Flibster24/01/2009 at 02:00

VERY quick, in fact. Aren’t they the title favorites right now?

They are leading the championship and are currently in pole for hte sprint race and provisional pole for the feature race.

Adam Carroll seems to have the edge on most people at the moment.

Also, is it bad that I prefer the ugly painted A1GP cars to the current F1 cars?

  • Flibster24/01/2009 at 02:02

    Hang on... 19 cars?

There's 22 entered this year. Wonder who's missing...

  • Flibster24/01/2009 at 02:08

Could be an interesting comparison coming up later this year - A1GP season finale is at Interlagos. :D

Get to see how far off a F1 car they are.

  • Flibster24/01/2009 at 02:13

    Well done Team Ireland!

    Double pole. That'll do nicely.

  • Journeyer24/01/2009 at 02:13

    Yup, indeed. :D

  • Journeyer24/01/2009 at 02:14

Great Britain has been struggling a lot this season. Usually regular frontrunners, they're doing midfield at best this year.

  • Journeyer24/01/2009 at 02:15

Daniel Albuquerque of Team Portugal has Portimao sponsorship. Check out the back of his helmet. :D

  • Flibster24/01/2009 at 02:18

We've been missing our normal drivers. Oliver Jarvis and Robbie Kerr *I personally prefered Oliver*

But we seem to be going to relatively unknown drivers at the moment. But to be fair, Danny Watts got 2 3rd places on his first appearance.

A1GP question. Why are Ireland and Holland working together? Love that Dashboard thing, and the video streaming is excellent, thanks for that.

The countries employ race teams to manage their cars - Ireland and Holland have the same team working on their cars, so it makes sence to share data as it will speed them both up.

  • Journeyer24/01/2009 at 02:31

A1GP question. Why are Ireland and Holland working together?

    Well explained, Flibster.

In seasons past, there was a similar arrangement between France and Switzerland. It helped France win the title in Season 1. Not sure if that arrangement still exists, though.

  • Joe24/01/2009 at 02:37

    Ah, I see now, thanks.

A1 GP would be good to get into for the F1 off-season. Only taking some interest in it now because of Ireland doing so well. Surprised at that, they were embarrassing at the Race Of Champions. Some patriot I am!

Ah, music to Tony Texeira's ears. A1 have always tried to position themselves as the winter F1, but lack of funds and big-name drivers mean that it isn't going as well as they'd want it to.

  • Flibster24/01/2009 at 02:48

Sadly the biggest names are The Andretti's and Danica Patrick....

There was rumours of Willi Webber trying to get some of is drivers involved - but as they were still in F1 at the time it was highly unlikely - in case of injury

Shame Grand Prix Masters collapsed as well. Was good seeing all those old timers having fun in cars again.

There was rumours of Willi Weber trying to get some of his drivers involved - but as they were still in F1 at the time it was highly unlikely - in case of injury

And it won't happen now, as Weber has sold his Team Germany to someone else, hence, their disappearance as of late.

  • Journeyer24/01/2009 at 03:01

Shame Grand Prix Masters collapsed as well. Was good seeing all those old timers having fun in cars again.

It had a good concept, but the financials were all messed up. Lack of spectators also contributed to its downfall. After all, no one but the dedicated racing fans would really watch them.

Wait until Race day - when I went it was packed!

The Dutch car was better last year, although nice that it’s still in it’s traditional orange. New Zealand have the laziest scheme of anyone. :D

    China is usually pretty good.

Grrr... Don't you know that NZ teams are always in black? In the greenest most beautiful country in the world, we chose maudlin and depressing black as our national colour... :-(

Speaking of which, when will Danica race here? She hasn’t yet, right?

She will drive at some events and Marco Andretti at others so she won’t drive in New Zealand.

I have been told that it's Marco's seat now as Danica wanted to get paid... the whole idea was for her to race in the series to gain road course experience (as she's terrible on them!) and she won't do it because AGR won't pay her for it! Just another reason not to like her!

I think it was the one that was supposed to be after NZ that got cancelled. After this weekend, they won’t be back for another… 4 weeks?

Correct. The round after NZ (an Indonesian street race) got cancelled as the track is unfinished. Events being cancelled are a yearly occurrence in A1GP...

Didn’t Ferrari fail to deliver a few cars? We were discussing this last week. I can’t remember if they were delivered late or still to be delivered

Some chassis were delivered late, but that’s resolved now.

I still think Ferrari 'let it happen on purpose' to undermine the series - remember GP2 Asia only started after A1GP did - and some of the drivers have moved to that series as their 'Winter Series'.

There was rumours of Willi Webber trying to get some of is drivers involved - but as they were still in F1 at the time it was highly unlikely - in case of injury

Willi Weber doesn't want anything to do with A1GP because they never paid his team for Nico Huelkenberg winning a couple of years ago. To me, that's a big loss for the series as he was using it to blood new talent.

Ah, music to Tony Texeira’s ears. A1 have always tried to position themselves as the winter F1, but lack of funds and big-name drivers mean that it isn’t going as well as they’d want it to.

A1GP has lost hundreds of millions of dollars - it has never made a profit for many reasons - but apparently Colin Giltrap (the NZ seat holder) and a Lebanese businessman have put some more money in - and Giltrap reckons the series is 'financially stable'.

The series suffers from the fact that it never makes money, nobody knows the drivers and not many countries are passionate about it. In the NZ Herald yesterday, one guy said something to the effect of:

"...it would be quite boring if all the crowd saw were the A1GP cars - what they really want to see are the V8's (Touring Cars)..."

Mind you I shouldn't be that surprised - you are a bit weird if you like anything other than these "Taxi Racers" in NZ and everybody thinks F1 is boring - we have one of the best A1GP teams and the coverage of the series is terrible - none of the Asian races (except NZ) are shown live because they are on at 8pm Sunday night - primetime TV time!

  • Lady Snowcat24/01/2009 at 11:52

Piquet made it to F1, Huelkenberg and Glock too. Buemi is there and there's bound to be a couple of others.

    Hi Christine…

    What’s happening at Silverstone today?….

It's a meeting of the "Keep the British GP at Silverstone" committee.

    In January?

  • Lady Snowcat24/01/2009 at 12:23

Piquet made it to F1, Huelkenberg and Glock too. Buemi is there and there’s bound to be a couple of others.

Hulkenburg has tested in F1 but got no further so far... I do expect him to...

It's Glock's second time around and he and Piquet came via GP2 ... although I believe Piquet did do a few A1GP races.....

Nico H is currently doing the GP2 Asia series....

True, as I said before, A1GP is well below the level of GP2 - but I was just pointing out that they all made an appearance in A1GP.

Huelkenberg dominated the series when he was in it - in my opinion he should be in F1!

  • Kathi24/01/2009 at 12:36

    Mika S is still missing.

He finally appeared on the retired drivers-list. He had a technical problem after stage 8.

    Williams gets £14.5m from Ecclestone

Anybody else know about this? Williams always said they had the budget in place, but I assumed that came from proper planning and sponsorship money.

If Williams are having trouble then that's a worry. We need them in F1!

  • Journeyer24/01/2009 at 13:05

Hulkenberg dominated the series when he was in it - in my opinion he should be in F1!

Willi Weber is saying the exact same thing. Mind you, the French drivers did the same when they were around, but neither ended up in F1.

Willi Weber doesn’t want anything to do with A1GP because they never paid his team for Nico Huelkenberg winning a couple of years ago. To me, that’s a big loss for the series as he was using it to blood new talent.

As I said, lack of funds. And to think Michael Schumacher even graced a number of A1 events that season... Is it fair to assume then that he wasn't paid for those either?

Williams have been in touble for some while...

Most of their sponsors have serious problems and one has jumped ship for Macca....

But don't forget their only reason to be around is to race in F1...

Frank and Patrick have always said that they would be prepared to go racing on a shoe string if necessary....

  • Papa Smurf24/01/2009 at 13:13

  • Journeyer24/01/2009 at 13:15

Frank and Patrick have always said that they would be prepared to go racing on a shoe string if necessary….

But the less money they have, they less competitive they'll be. The less competitive they are, the less money they'll get. It's an endless spiral, and it only goes downward.

Case in point: Tyrrell. Despite Ken's best efforts and passion for the sport, Tyrrell just weren't competitive enough. Also, as Frank already said, they still need to be profitable to ensure their survival in the sport.

It is great because F1 drivers are usually wrapped in cotton wool... and because Kimi does some wild stuff (like the snowmobile race)

    Of course it's a distraction...

It is a completely different driving style and Kimi would want to do well...

It would also be a step up to the WRC from this weekend...

I shall have to check out when Valentino does his rallying...

  • Journeyer24/01/2009 at 14:07

He doesn’t have to take part in the highest class. Just some fun to relax from F1

Well, I think the physical effort one needs to race competitively in F1 is such that it's no longer possible for drivers to join multiple formulae in a single season. This practice began to fade in the 70s as cars got faster, and many were probably thinking that they had to conserve their full energy for F1.

  • Lady Snowcat24/01/2009 at 14:09

Well nothing Kimi ever did would surprise me but if competitive driving against Seb Loeb is relaxing from F1 I am missing something...

Not quite in the "powerboat race dressed as a gorilla" league, nor the "snowmobile race as James Hunt" league....

I personally would rather he didn't but, as I said, nothing he does is surprising....

  • Alianora La Canta24/01/2009 at 14:18

    I think they’re going for a football atmosphere … it doesn’t work! {Gavin Brown - 41 comments ago}

The irony is that they currently have more football atmosphere in their rounds than Superleague Formula have in most of theirs, and Superleague Formula was supposedly the approved football-motorsport crossover event.

I have a leaflet advertising the inaugural Superleague Formula race, which I have a horrible feeling may become an obscure collector's item...

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)24/01/2009 at 14:19

It's also for insurance purposes, and because if a driver takes part in another series he still has to represent his sponsors, etc.

  • Lady Snowcat24/01/2009 at 14:22

I don't know how they came up with Superleague 'Formula' (by the way, you can't call it a 'Formula' when everybody uses the same car - it's a 'Spec' Series)! How many people like F1 and football? I mean, there are quite a few but it's not like your average football fan follows F1 as passionately?

Can you imagine a football crowd at a Superleague event chanting obscene things at another team? Would they have fights behind the pit garages too?

It's a worry because it's not normal for teams to request advances on their TV money. However, Williams signed for five years worth of Concorde Agreement from 2008-2012 back in 2005 (not just the MOU signed by most of the teams when they entered in March 2006; Toro Rosso and Force India also signed the Concorde Agreement prior to March 2006, but the lack of unanimity means that the previous Concorde Agreement is the one in force for now). One could argue that the 20% "advance" is money Williams could reasonably have expected to have earned, since they've kept their end of the bargain. Bernie simply doesn't want them bailing out of the MOU (or threatening to do so) simply because other teams are less flexible over the wording of the Agreement.

That said, Jordan asked for an advance on its TV money to tide it over in 1991 and it did pretty well after that (though I will grant there were a few years of rough times prior to it securing its own future).

But Bernie also said F1 'needs' Ferrari, Williams and Mclaren (and he's 100% right for once) so I wouldn't doubt that he gave his old mate Frank a loan... they do go back 30-odd years remember :-)

I think some football committee thought it sounded suitably motorsport-ish to the uninitiated. The lack of accuracy in such a name was probably a minor issue to them at best.

    That I know? None.

Thankfully not. Though I heard there was a fight behind the pit garages in GP2 this year, it was between rival teams, not rival spectators...

Though if the spectators at the Australian Open are capable of engaging in a riot after they've watched their volleys and serves, anything is possible!

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)24/01/2009 at 14:30

Now that is just a stereotypical view of football. We don’t have fights all the time y’know. Fair enough there is chanting, but thats football.

It may be the same assumptions made by the SF founders. I am a big football and F1 supporter and my team isn't a nice one.

Question for you - you are a Spurs supporter, correct? Have you been following your SF car as much as Harry's boys?

  • Alianora La Canta24/01/2009 at 14:34

This is also true. It's not like Frank's going to walk away from the sport after four races because he might have to sell his private jet to keep the team going* or because his bosses said the previous quarter's sales figures have gone through the floor.

    * - He sold his jet at the start of 2003 to give Williams more funds. I can't see the average manufacturer boss being quite that committed...

The only reason it holds interest for me is because they use V12 engines - the best sound in all of Motorsports!

That is true, and another problem with the series is that its on Setanta, and if only 200,000 watch England football games on it, its got no hope of doing well in England.

The fact that the only adverts I saw for it in Nottingham were leaflets in a local delicatessan and on the sides of certain buses (several of which are still on display now) probably didn't help get the locals interested either. Indeed, to be fair though, they would want the best teams in the world, which Notts Forest and Notts County are hardly not. Neither are half the teams in the Superleague as well. Promotional wise, I didn't know it was on Setanta, never promoted anywhere I looked, not shown on other tv channels as an ad. Poor.

They got a couple of big teams but they also got loads of small, never heard of teams.

Where were the teams like Man United, Barcelona etc? Some of the Asian teams are probably so poor that teams like Forest and County could wipe the floor with them...

Yeah, there is about 8 teams everyone has heard about and really should be in the 'Superleague', then you got the likes of Spurs, PSV, Borussia, who are good, but surely not good enough. And then the Al-Ain and Beijing's, and wondering, how did they get in?

That, or he could have the so called 'bottomless pockets' a la Manchester City. It might be good if a lot of money is invested into A1GP, but may be bad if he tries to promote it over too much?

I present you guys with this:

    http://www.atom.com/spotlights/inauguration_speech_generator/

    Why? Because I done this:

My fellow Americans, today is a Sebastian Vettel day. You have shown the world that "hope" is not just another word for "Ralf Schumacher", and that "change" is not only something we can believe in again, but something we can actually Michael Schumacher.

Today we celebrate, but let there be no mistake – America faces Jarno Trulli and Shinji Nakano challenges like never before. Our economy is Gaston Mazzacane. Americans can barely afford their mortgages, let alone have enough money left over for Gerhard Berger. Our healthcare system is Nigel Mansell. If your Mika Hakkinen is sick and you don't have insurance, you might as well call a Rubens Barrichello. And America's image overseas is tarnished like a Nick Heidfeld Robert Kubica. But Takuma Sato together we can right this ship, and set a course for Donington Park.

Finally, I must thank my Yuji Ide family, my Damon Hill campaign volunteers, but most of all, I want to thank Jenson Button for making this historic occasion possible. Of course, I must also thank you, President Bush, for years of Mark Webber the American people. Without your Fernando Alonso efforts, none of this would have been possible.

  • R.G (Archive : I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no Montagny)24/01/2009 at 19:00

    Why? Because I done this:

    I love it.

'You have shown the world that "hope" is not just another word for "Ralf Schumacher".' :D

  • Lady Snowcat24/01/2009 at 19:23

    Terrific endless fun for all.....

My fellow Americans, today is a blinding day. You have shown the world that "hope" is not just another word for "Honda", and that "change" is not only something we can believe in again, but something we can actually drive.

Today we celebrate, but let there be no mistake – America faces cute and cuddly challenges like never before. Our economy is furry. Americans can barely afford their mortgages, let alone have enough money left over for Ferraris. Our healthcare system is dangerous. If your funny bone is sick and you don't have insurance, you might as well call a comedian. And America's image overseas is tarnished like a Earth Dream. But Frying together we can right this ship, and set a course for Interlagos.

Finally, I must thank my funny family, my hot campaign volunteers, but most of all, I want to thank Elvis for making this historic occasion possible. Of course, I must also thank you, President Bush, for years of stewarding the American people. Without your careful efforts, none of this would have been possible.

  • Lukeh24/01/2009 at 19:54

My fellow Americans, today is a sennaesque day. You have shown the world that "hope" is not just another word for "Rubens", and that "change" is not only something we can believe in again, but something we can actually scandalous.

Today we celebrate, but let there be no mistake – America faces stupid and completely outrageously british challenges like never before. Our economy is intense. Americans can barely afford their mortgages, let alone have enough money left over for people. Our healthcare system is bluey. If your jim rosenthal's vampire nose is sick and you don't have insurance, you might as well call a professional Jarno Trulli interpretator. And America's image overseas is tarnished like a Toyota Sidepodcast. But sniffing together we can right this ship, and set a course for Ruben's back garden.

Finally, I must thank my funny family, my pretty messed up campaign volunteers, but most of all, I want to thank all my homies in the FIA for making this historic occasion possible. Of course, I must also thank you, President Bush, for years of conspiracising the American people. Without your jealous efforts, none of this would have been possible.

  • R.G (Archive : I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no Montagny)24/01/2009 at 20:05

My fellow Americans, today is a laughing day. You have shown the world that "hope" is not just another word for "sidepodcast", and that "change" is not only something we can believe in again, but something we can actually record.

Today we celebrate, but let there be no mistake – America faces dangerous and horrendous mistakes challenges like never before. Our economy is gone. Americans can barely afford their mortgages, let alone have enough money left over for website servers. Our healthcare system is on the brink. If your Mr C anonomity is sick and you don't have insurance, you might as well call a Panda suit service. And America's image overseas is tarnished like a drunken giggling Alex Andronov. But getting together we can right this ship, and set a course for NEC in Birmingham.

Finally, I must thank my collective family, my ingenious campaign volunteers, but most of all, I want to thank Franck Montagny for making this historic occasion possible. Of course, I must also thank you, President Bush, for years of ruining the F1 the American people. Without your pathetic efforts, none of this would have been possible.

  • Dom24/01/2009 at 20:18

I present you guys with this:

    Uh-oh... ;)

My fellow Americans, today is a appeal day. You have shown the world that "hope" is not just another word for "KERS", and that "change" is not only something we can believe in again, but something we can actually avoid.

Today we celebrate, but let there be no mistake – America faces pointless and ugly challenges like never before. Our economy is for sale. Americans can barely afford their mortgages, let alone have enough money left over for Bernie. Our healthcare system is HANS. If your helmet is sick and you don't have insurance, you might as well call a GP2 driver. And America's image overseas is tarnished like a Max Mosley party. But spending together we can right this ship, and set a course for Abu Dhabi.

Finally, I must thank my Senna-esque family, my medals campaign volunteers, but most of all, I want to thank me for making this historic occasion possible. Of course, I must also thank you, President Bush, for years of lying to the American people. Without your amusing efforts, none of this would have been possible.

  • Steven Roy24/01/2009 at 20:52

Case in point: Tyrrell. Despite Ken’s best efforts and passion for the sport, Tyrrell just weren’t competitive enough. Also, as Frank already said, they still need to be profitable to ensure their survival in the sport.

Tyrrell never got past its first generation. When Stewart retired and Cevert died the team started going down fast. Williams has been through a few generations so is more robust. It may be unkind but Tyrrell was a one trick pony and when the pony's jockey retired it just trotted round in circles.

  • Steven Roy24/01/2009 at 20:54

I shall have to check out when Valentino does his rallying…

Normally he does the GB rally in November and he has done the NZ rally.

  • Steven Roy24/01/2009 at 20:58

I don’t know how they came up with Superleague ‘Formula’ (by the way, you can’t call it a ‘Formula’ when everybody uses the same car - it’s a ‘Spec’ Series)! How many people like F1 and football? I mean, there are quite a few but it’s not like your average football fan follows F1 as passionately?

The trouble is the essence of football is us againt them whereas motor racing is us against 20 of them. Totally different ethos.

  • Steven Roy24/01/2009 at 21:01

On the same topic, I’ve had a race offer for Formula Trinity, which I’m currently mulling over.

    Is it a competitive car?

  • Scott Woodwiss24/01/2009 at 21:03

  • Steven Roy24/01/2009 at 21:04

My point exactly - and I think that a lot of football supporters who have their team competing feel the same way.

The majority of football fans who have teams competing in it know nothing of the formula nor that their team is competing in it.

  • R.G (Archive : I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot no Montagny)24/01/2009 at 21:06

The majority of football fans who have teams competing in it know nothing of the formula nor that their team is competing in it.

Aye. I only knew of it cos it was in Autosport one week with the Spurs car in it. It was mentioned on the Spurs site, but I missed it.

I used a random word generator to fill this speech. Something tells me Obama's speechwriter used a slightly more sophisticated approach:

My fellow Americans, today is a historical day. You have shown the world that "hope" is not just another word for "refund", and that "change" is not only something we can believe in again, but something we can actually bite.

Today we celebrate, but let there be no mistake – America faces illustrated and condensed challenges like never before. Our economy is parenthesised. Americans can barely afford their mortgages, let alone have enough money left over for operators. Our healthcare system is discouraged. If your nerve is sick and you don't have insurance, you might as well call a wrecker. And America's image overseas is tarnished like a method sleep. But positioning together we can right this ship, and set a course for Commerce House.

Finally, I must thank my interfering family, my doomed campaign volunteers, but most of all, I want to thank team for making this historic occasion possible. Of course, I must also thank you, President Bush, for years of opening the American people. Without your disastrous efforts, none of this would have been possible.

The worrying thing is that I'm only 16th in the World Rankings. In other words, most of my opponents in that series have been in long enough that they shouldn't have commitment issues.

Aha, but I already am for I invested in KT for this account too. Although I did get into a bit of trouble for entering an Academy game and then activating it, which isn't really allowed. But I apologised and that account will become my permanent one as soon as the games on my original account are finished.

On drop.io, someone on another forum posted images of the old Hockenheim as it is now.

They ripped up the circuit and let it go to seed. Why they haven't planted trees is a mystery though. I heard that they even had to move the Jim Clark Memorial headstone so that it's closer to the new track.

Why did they have to ruin this circuit? It was always fantastic to see the cars blast off into the forest and return to struggle through the stadium section. The new track is ok - but it's not even a patch on the old one and sadly we will never be able to see it again :-(

They ripped up the circuit and let it go to seed. Why they haven’t planted trees is a mystery though. I heard that they even had to move the Jim Clark Memorial headstone so that it’s closer to the new track.

That's an intresting thought, maybe they let people walk it? Doubt it, probably just forgot about it and let it go to waste

The new track is ok - but it’s not even a patch on the old one and sadly we will never be able to see it again

That's the worst thing! They just ripped it up as if it weren't good enough for any racing. Such a shame...

it's an acer aspire 5920 running vista, and atm any time i have more that a few tabs open, or a few programs running with a web browser i get a message saying there is not enough memory to continue or something like that. then is closes everything and refuses to open the web browser again (either FF or Chrome) so i have to restart it. i was thinking it was a RAM issue or something, whatever it is i am unhappy specially as it's so young.

  • Flibster25/01/2009 at 01:14

Is the message "Not enough virtual memory"? And after the message appears the hard drive just seems to thrash a lot?

If so, increasing the memory in the machine will help, but it could be that the c: on the machine is getting full.

  • Flibster25/01/2009 at 01:18

Vista is unhappy on anything less than 2gb of memory.

Something else it could be is spyware. May be worth downloading spybot serch and destroy and running that

  • lou25/01/2009 at 01:21

no it's not that, plus i have 70+ GB free hard drive memory. without it coming up again i couldn't tell you what it was exactly, but it's something like 'not enough memory to continue, please close some of the following programs' (and then it lists them)

*I use a iPhone as a paperweight so as you can probably guess, I'm not a mac person. ;) *

G4 powerbooks don't have removeable batteries iirc so you can't get another battery from somewhere and switch them to see if it comes on with that.

Could well be that the power circuit has gone phut. More than likely it's a new motherboard repair.

Cool. Go into the tack manager and to to the processes tab.

Across the bottom of the window it should show current number of processes, cpu usage and physical memory.

How many processes and what physical memory is in use?

Also, if you click on the memory column heder it will sort by memory usage. I suspect that something is using an abnormal amount of memory.

Could be that the car is very sensitive to brake temperature or balance...

Swiss car has an oil leak now....could be a bit dangerous for people following.

I thought I saw a little smoke from the Swiss engine earlier. There seems to be the occasional wisp from the left bank

Swiss take the feature race, Ireland finish 2nd just 1second behind.

    So unlucky there for Ireland.

Adam Carroll deserved the win. If Neel Jani had pitted when he was told to he would not have been there to trigger the Irish anti-stall

Did Jani pit a lap after schedule? If so, I don't think the Swiss mind now all that much, given how it affected Carroll.

John Watson said that they called him in but he did not pit. Then the next lap he came in so ireland had to swerve round them to get out and they are suggesting that was enough to trigger the anti-stall,

I can't see the team being too upset about it...

Hmmm... Well, two wrongs made a right in that case.

Nice collection of legs there. ;)

Nice to see Chris Amon presenting the winner's trophy instead of some politician no-one has ever heard of.

  • Flibster25/01/2009 at 03:18

    Heyhey! Chris Amon!

When did Jonesy become so polite?

  • Alex Andronov25/01/2009 at 11:31

And America’s image overseas is tarnished like a drunken giggling Alex Andronov.

    :) Good one R.G. :)

    I does help if the jack isn’t taken with the car. {Flibster - 28 comments ago}

Very true. Ask Adrian Sutil's mechanic in charge of the rear jack (he got hit by one in Brazil 2007 after there was some sort of misunderstanding in Adrian's pit stop).
