Hello Sidepodcast fans, it is Tuesday the 23rd August 2011. Formula One's summer break is almost at end, this weekend will see racing at Spa Francorchamps for the Belgium Grand Prix. There are only 9 races of the 2011 season left now, scary thought eh?
F1 News
- The FIA have decided to ban the use of DRS through Eau Rouge in practice and qualifying, on safety grounds. The high speed corner is renowned for being tricky at the best of times, although that didn't stop drivers tackling it one handed last year.
- Michael Schumacher will this weekend celebrate the 20th anniversary since his debut in Formula One and the Mercedes team are hopeful over a positive result to celebrate the occasion.
- 2007 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen will test the Peugeot 908 Le Mans car this Wednesday, with a positive test possibly leading to an outing in next year's Le Mans 24 Hours.
- Pirelli believes the difference in lap time between the tyres in use for this weekend's race at Spa will be the biggest of the season so far, largely down to the 4.3 mile circuit than a change in their tyres.
- It has been confirmed that Jenson Button will be attending this year’s Race of Champions, held in Dusseldorf in December.
- Joe has returned from his summer break with a bumper post over on his blog, full of F1 news as well what he got up to during his summer break.
Non-F1 Stuff
- This weekend sees the return of Doctor Who with the second half of Series 6, starting off with 'Let's Kill Hitler'. BlogtorWho have preview of the upcoming episodes, although be warned there are some spoilers.
- Back in June, but I've just found out about it now, the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Tokyo unveiled the “Geo-Cosmos”, the world’s first large-scale spherical OLED. To be blunt the results are breathtaking, well worth taking a look if you haven't seen it before.
- Advertising billboards have becoming part of the background in today's world, prompting marketers to get creative and interactive to get us to notice them. Mashable have found 10 great examples of interactive advertising, my favourites have to be the Cadbury's and IBM's.
- Yesterday Twitter announced it’s rolling out “user galleries,” which will collate the images from tweets, sent after January 1st, 2010 into an organized page for your viewing pleasure.
Last night SidepodcastDaily.com launched, it replaces realtime and will include comments from all threads, so business as usual. This is the start of Christine and Mr C's future plans for Sidepodcast, but for the time being it is very much a work in progress so please be patient as they get it up to speed!
Now I leave you once more so all that is left for me to do is say I hope you have a good day and I shall see you in the comments!
hullo new day.
eeek! love it.
Fantastic
Woah. That's fantastic.
oh wooooaaahh!!!!
i love the daily James!
Last night SidepodcastDaily.com launched, it replaces realtime
I like the new addition Mr C built for us kids. The house was getting too small.
hehe, we don't have plans. reacting, learning, experimenting and fiddling are probably closer to reality.
ha! i wanna play sometimes, just less than i used to :)
I want one!
right i must love you all and leave you, nighty night all!
oh and i've just figured out how i want my website to look - thanks Jeremy!
so look out for it soon, as i think i've found just the place for it! wohoo!
bye lou!
That was quick
Good night.
Jeremy rocks!
Yay for you, and sweet website dreams. :)
well, that actually sounds like what 99% of the parents do ;-)
Is Jeremy still around?
You want a website too?
:)
:) :)
Hope what I said was alright, at the very least you can pretend there is a plan ;)
it's plan now, and if it works we can say we meant it all along.
Blackout! Lucky I have 3G
What's up?
Find out where you are then write a back story that proves it was a planned journey to get there
:D
I want to catch up when I'm in Sydney :D
Yay!!!
now that I'm coming to Sydney a day earlier I actually have free time on the Friday night! Are you working/busy/available for a drink?
I'm working until about 6, but will meet you anywhere that suits you by 7-7:30
woot! This is not until Friday the 16th by the way :) I am not sure what time the tennis will finish but it starts at 11am and I think they only play 3 matches.
I remember :)
You are staying at the Hilton, or the Shangri La?
What am I saying? All good mclaren fans stay at the Hilton :P
psssh, not quite. Park Regis, where you can still hear the road noise like its right outside on the 23rd floor :D
tom cruise, drives the red bull:
http://www.redbull.com/cs/Satellite/en_US/Article/tom-cruise-red-bull-f1-021243071792929
I like how they carefully avoid to mention cruise's lap time relative to coulthard's...
Must be good to just be offered an F1 car and driver to teach you for the day
Cool, they should make that huge news, wonder if they will. If I were them I'd have waited a year though.
and crew that flew in from the UK for it.
Weren't they already in America for a demo run?
They had done a demo in Austin yesterday so it was just a hop up to Willow SPrings
They were in Austin over the weekend. This article says the Cruise run was on the 15th, so at least they didn't have to clean the mud off for him :)
Yes, you're right. I wonder what was scheduled first?
Good promo for the race next year.
Maybe he'll take over Ricciardo seat at HRT when he moves on to fill Webbers seat at Red Bull? :P
Which team was chasing Hollywood dollars? HRT?
So Tom pays for the trip over, and they squeeze in a demo run at little extra cost. Well played Red Bull, well played :)
I am sure Red Bull would be happy to pay for Cruise's fun in return for all the publicity they got from it
Just don't take the stress test.
Imagine them trying to talk Mark Webber into joining - he'd probably suggest Seb goes first :P
:D
Nice - CBD location. I'll catch a train in and we'll explore the city
local knowledge is good, last time I was there I saw nothing :D
I can do the obvious stuff, but surely you've seen the harbour bridge, opera house and darling harbour?
ah yes, that I went to see. I got rather lost too. Stupid non-grid like CBD :D
silly tall buildings do a good job of blocking GPS signal as well. The new Westfield Sydney CBD has a Tag Heuer store - thats a highlight for me :)
tennis tickets have been purchased, now everything for my trip is in place :)

morning
Hi Leigh :)
Hi Gavin,
What goes on?
:)
Joe's updated his photo on his blog - he looks quite determined and / or angry in it.
A nod to bad commenter's?
;)
I quite like the new photo.
Oh just busy as usual. Nice day outside though. I'm planning to go for a run later - my 5km race is in 9 days!
Nice. It's horrible and wet here though.
:/
I just copped the Senna / Heidfeld story. I could've swore I imagined that last night. After sleeping for nearly 11 hours, I was quite groggy.
:)
Is that confirmed now?
Not yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if true.
If it wasn't true, they'd have denied it by now, so I'm guessing it's going to happen.
True, but let's be honest. This isn't a total shock "Quick Nick" has, for the most part, been anything but.
How Senna will do is a mystery. The Hispania was hardly a standard barer and Senna only had a single 90 minute session since his single day test in February.
Now's a good time to find out, I think. I reckon they've realized Kubica won't be able to return this year, and they already be too far behind Mercedes on pace to catch them... for 4th in the WCC, which isn't that much of a prize, to be honest. Best find out how good your 3rd driver really is now (and dump him for Grosjean if he really isn't any good).
I can't imagine a position where Grosjean isn't driving next year tbh.
Which is why they need to find out now if Senna is any good. That said, given that all 3 drivers probably have a strong link to Gravity (financially or otherwise), if Senna turns out to be quick, this may become a difficult decision for them.
I think they'll end up with Grosjean anyway. I'm surprised Senna is in that car - it can only be because as Joe says, they have new Brazilian sponsors.
How well do you know your Formula 1 history?
The book That'll be the Day: 365 F1 Stories takes a look at significant moments or quirky happenings on this day in Grand Prix history. Can you guess what event the following describes?
Ooooh, I know that guy. He had such a... colorful history.
After a brief downtime scare, SPC is back up and running.
What do you mean?
Ahhh Didier...
I was trying to post a comment, but I couldn't. Got an error when I tried refreshing the page, but other sites were fine, so I guess SPC was done. Not for very long, though - just 5 minutes or so.
So, the IndyCar race result appeal is later today. I'll throw my hat in and say the result will not be reverted.
Which is the stupider outcome? I'll bet they go with that ;)
It doesn't matter. It shouldn't have ever come to this in the first place.
That's kinda my point. I know we are all talking about indycar, but not in a good way. Heaven knows what the boys on Midweek Motorsport said!
It was their headline story. They spent an entire hour with Marshall Pruett discussing it in sheer disbelief. Can't say I'm surprised.
A few seem to believe this gives IndyCar some headlines and that is good, but for many it is just - rightly - embarrassing.
Which Episode? I'm keen to listen now.
Yup.
Last Wednesday's most recent.
Well... I mean... oh well
;)
Thanks :)
Jeez, I remember why I stopped listening to MWM now - the jingles make me deaf!
Hahaa
By the way Journeyer, that was a nice little interface between yourself and Rachel from Halo Halo the other day.
:)
@jpmontoya: At the kids school doing a parents teacher conference.
As you do.
:)
Thanks! Did you get to see them last Friday?
Aye - I was chatting to them for a while. Nice bunch of folks - good songs too (imo)
:)
Nice little bit on Peter Sauber / Schumacher
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/93894
:)
we get status reports if the site is down for more than 2 minutes. i got nothing here?
Worked well for me at the time. I think Gavin was posting then as well.
ahh, maybe journeyer tripped over a cable :)
Well these things happen from time to time...
Been fine all day for me :)
Ping: http://www.f1minute.com/news/renault-set-to-continue-with-forward-facing-exhausts
Oi! :P I didn't get disconnected from my VPN, which means my Internet was fine the whole time. :D Anyway, it's all fine now.
Rankings day today. Have had a few suggestions through the week, but more always welcome!
Red Bull points for their Tom Cruise bit (which I'm sure will be on screen soon)?
great interview with DC here: http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/racing/entries/2011/08/23/scottish_driver_david_coulthar.html
Q: Do people know about Austin. Are people excited about Austin?
A: I watched Dallas when I was a kid. But I know it’s a bit different here.
wish he qualified for rankings points :)
I love this photo
how did the noise not scare the horses?
Earplugs? :)
omg! you could be right, they had them for the grand national.
I was joking! They did?
yeah, so they weren't started by the noise i think.
That's a really good interview, who'd have thought DC would be the right man to send :)
*startled.
it's interesting. he was the right man to bring together red bull after jaguar and he's the right man to bring f1 to america.
Enjoy a little something from the Sidepodcast back catalogue.

Yet still people under-rate DC?
I think SC is getting lazt. Yesterday's daily? Really?
heheheehheh!!
agreed. his red bull bias in 2010 was hard to swallow, but i think he's learned from that. even he doesn't rate himself as a quick driver though :)
I guess it really does just randomly pick posts. Maybe it should not be allowed to choose anything from the last 6 months
good point. shall add to the list.
The initial Red Bull bias was bad and not helped by the weekly Horner interview by Jake and his tribe
I like creating work for people :)
there was a time when he would defend them to the last against eddie. that could have been more about eddie mind you.
It is probably just an automatic reaction to argue with Eddie.
He still crashed a lot though. :)
I was thinking more about what he does out of the car. I think his reputation as a crasher is unfair. It was only at the end of his career that he was involved in a few collisions and unfortunately that is what is remembered. For most of his career he was rarely involved in accidents even if things like Spa 1998 stick in the memory
I always thought Red Bull must've kept him on for a reason, because his driving had got relatively bad for a while there. I'm sure he can take a large amount of credit for improving the car/s over a few years.
There was a theory put around by 'people in the know' that when he retired he was going to be team principal. Of course by that time the team had improved a lot and Horner's position was a lot more secure.
Evening. I'm officially off work and on holiday. This is a weird feeling. :)
Sounds good. Put your feet up and relax.
"But I know it's a bit different here."
THAT's an understatement.
Hardly, I'm on a flight in 12 hours!
I thought all of Texas was just like it looked in Dallas
I guess it is time to run around and panic about tickets, passport etc then
Tickets no, passport no (already have), bag - so not packed yet, nor is the flat in a state to come back to!
The flat will sort itself out while you are away
I'll (not) find house-fairies and pixies have tidied everything away?
I've also failed at cooking a pizza. Clearly I'm distracted! :D
I also (guiltily) have a few Sidepodcast's to catch up on. *shifty*
Did you take the plastic off? I know someone who will be very happy if he is not the only person on the planet ever to leave it on
Let me shake his hand. I forgot the cardboard it layed on, it was only after putting the rubbish in the bin that I remembered!
Headping time
MR C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:D :D :D :D :D
YES!
Glad to see we're among equals. :D

Conspiracy!

Picked up my wheels for Spa. Only half the normal number for this trip, but twice the fun thanks to @ducatiuk www.yfrog.com/h7fkeuuj
Got tweets of a minor earthquake all the way along the US/Canadian east coast, from Toronto to North Carolina..
Ping: http://www.f1bigpicture.com/news/cruise-control
And ping: http://sidepodcast.com/post/points-ahoy-on-christines-rankings-as-the-summer-break-draws-to-an-end
It's a 5.8
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Maps/region/N_America.php
GAH! 2 months after we leave!
Maybe that's a good thing.
I'm due to be in NC tomorrow, in fact I'm on a video call right this second. Don't think it's hit that far in-land.
I just realised that I have read a few posts on various sites and just realised that there are DC quotes in all of them and not a word from Tom Cruise
I thought that. Didn't believe he was actually there until I saw the picture.
How odd
The odd thing is in the pictures in Joe's site he looks more like Tom Cruise with a helmet on than without it
Interesting in. I rarely recognise people with their helmets on.
More zoomed in map
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Maps/10/285_40.php
Yikes, about 10 miles or so from a nuclear power plant.
I felt this. Wow.
It's only a 5.8. Of course earthquakes rarely come in ones
Timed out connecting.
Details. I have never experienced an earthquake. Part of me wants to experience one but the rest of me says no way
It was sublte but distinct, like someone shaking my couch. Not fast or crazy, almost like the pace of a heartbeat.
Try this. The details rather than a map. It now says 5.9
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/usc0005ild.html
Only earthquake I've been in was in the UK when it hit in 2008 at night. I thought something had hit the building, the plasterboard was shaking.
That doesn't sound exciting. I get that when trains go by
So now my facebook feed is filled with my Virginia folks freakin' out :)
It was enough for me sitting here to go..."what's that?" and then I was like..."um, I wonder if that's an earthquake??" and there was a helicopter going over at the same time, so I was wondering how it was possible that it could be strong enough to shake the ground, and it couldn't, so I guessed that the bump bump bump feeling was an earthquake, after hearing about the one in Colorado today, but, like everything else, I had to check twitter and the news to see what my reality was. ;)
:) It was more interesting than exciting, I found.
:D
We don't do earthquakes in this country, but it'd be darned inconvenient if it interrupted the tea and scones.
#imustbeBritish
I think if I was in an earthquake I would want to know it was one at the time
When we moved to NZ the first house we lived in was right next to a train line, so the first earthquake I ever experienced was mistaken for just another train!
You'd know after a few seconds. :)
:D
And Hurricane Irene is heading for the east coast. I'm just glad Christine doesn't have to read how the weather is after me anymore here in our new home. :)
Oh, Mrs Goat's one is even better. She used to work behind a desk on the mezzanine floor of a shop - so the customers were alarmed to hear screaming ... she was gripping the desk in terror for just a little tremor :)
"Honey, was that the 3.40 to Christchurch?"
"It's 3.30."
Thanks Kai, Emily told me there was a hurricane warning for our area. Now I know which woman to blame. :D
She's in North Carolina, if I remember correctly? Check the weather, it could be up to 150 mph winds, but it's just at the Bahamas now, or soon.
yeah, NC is big for Hurricanes :).
California has their earthquakes, Southeast US (Virginia and south down to Florida) have their hurricanes.
Ping: http://sidepodcast.com/post/red-bull-dominate-the-team-rankings-this-week-with-their-austin-antics
Yep, an hour east of Charlotte. She's keeping an eye on the forecast.
I'm happy the worst we have to worry about in the UK is rain, rain and more dull dreary rain.
:D
Mezzanine's can be unstable at the best of times
RT on my timeline: "That earthquake was Steve Jobs drilling for the last bit of unobtainium that's going in the new iPhone."
they have a new earthquake warning feature in IOS 5. reckon he's looking to up his sales.
If so, that's a helluva way to beta-test it!
:)
11 million people felt the quake according to the USGS.
Emily compared it to dynamite going off!
Dynamite going off is a huge bang and shakes everything for miles
It's a significant quake, but more importantly, I think, is that east coast buildings don't have anywhere near the codes that west coast buildings do. We don't usually get quakes.
and we have soft ground in the northeast, from what the meteorologists are saying.
Soft ground should help? It must be easier for the earthquake to shake a bigger area if the ground is hard?
It magnifies the shaking, I guess.
Buildings evacuated in New Haven, CT.
my old office building in VA was evacuated as well.
For the rest of the day. Lucky jerks get to go home!
'course, I get to wear shorts, t-shirt, and flip flops to work, so it's not all that bad.
Eeeevening :)
Has anyone seen Bassano around?
So you didn't feel the one in CO earlier, then?
I think his angriness was felt on the east coast of the US.
Nope
Best not to ask I guess.....
No, I haven't. Hi Alison.
Earthquake
I only wanted to pester him about flights. I'm sure it can wait.
Despite hurricane warning and a itty bitty little earthquake shaking, errands must be done.
Back in a bit. I'll be back with a full report. Back to you in the studio, SPC.
nope. Wonder where the epicenter was.
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/
Where are you flying too?
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/usc0005idz.php
Dubai. I want to go over before I start at uni but am struggling hugely to find a reasonable fare.
Looks like there were 5 or 6 little quakes in the same place
You just had two weeks of Nick. Surely you need a break for a while
:D I can't see him until Christmas otherwise :( :( :(
11
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Maps/10/255_35.php
Christmas is far away.
So is Nick
Alright!! No need to rub it in!! ;)
:D
I am sure Bassano will help you out
I'm not sure. He's looked for me before. BA are normally stupidly expensive. I'm not sure exactly how they end up with any customers.....
Worth a look though, can't be worse than these....
I have never understood that
I never have. Apparently people do though!
I might just give up and look for something at Christmas instead. That may actually cause bankruptcy.
Austin has an outline now, so that's something.
http://t.co/KGYrotE (via Lance Armstrong and Tony Kanaan)
They are all staff on a cheap deal?
Lots of people will only fly BA. I don't think they realise how good other airlines are
Exactly. I can understand if you want to avoid Ryanair or whatever but if I can fly on Emirates for half a BA fare.... That isn't a budget airline.
Just back from my venture Outside..the report is: clear skies, sunny, perfect temperature. The ground didn't shake that I could tell, but I did see a school bus checking out it's route, so that is always a sign of impending doom.
;)
With my tin foil hat securely in place, this is Kai, reporting for SPC.
Maybe there should be sidepodcast branded tinfoil hats
If we have stickers, and we have tin foil, then we have all we need.
the local news guys are stuck on the air with nothing to report. They're really stretching now. They keep asking for iReports.
:D
I look forward to the pictures of people wearing the prototypes
:D I really wish I'd sent Christine my address.... If I had stickers, I'd send you a pic of me with a hat on. I'm in that kind of mood. I already sent my sister pictures of Quorn fishfingers that totally blew her mind.
I saw a TV ad for those. Fishless Fingers!!!!!
twitter have added a slideshow, it's like a mini dropio:
http://twitter.com/#!/sidepodcast/media/slideshow
Still plenty more stickers if you want some.
I've only flown with BA once, it was very good even for a little domestic flight. But for a little domestic flight I only really need a bus in the air, the way easyjet does it.
WOW
includes pics that i've retweet, not only stuff i've uploaded.
I did a short hop recently with KLM for again half the price and that was fab. It included free drinks and a snack and everythink.
Oooh I'll email you :D
Twitter has moved upmarket
nice
Define "short", I'm flying with them to Schipol from Norwich and then again on to Atlanta.
I really like KLM. I even went to Brazil with them
I did Liverpool to Amsterdam which is just over an hour. I then did about 7 hours to Dubai. Highly recommended.
seems to have.
Please. I found myself lacking on Sunday.. :(
That's short compared to Brazil. KLM is great. Just don't get drawn into the casino at Schipol
Ah, that's the same kinda journey I'm having. 6.15am flight though. *dies at the thought, then comes back to life remembering what's waiting for me at the other end*
aww!
Emails and/or form here http://sidepodcast.com/post/stuck-like-glue-get-your-f1minute-stickers-here and I'll have to get working on sending out the next batch :)
Should that not be on sidepodcast.com/contact ?
i wondered what the reaction to peter windsor returning to speedtv might be. here's the very first comment after his debut:
As some one who had the distinct displeasure of dealing directly with Windsor during his USF1 scam I can tell you he totally screwed people to give up their jobs in England and elsewhere to come to Charlotte for nothing. Not to mention the total fraud to the Argentine government of some $800,000 plus. Maybe SpeedTV should hire Bernie Madoff too for his financial insider information.
more here: http://formula-one.speedtv.com/article/video-the-flying-lap-with-peter-windsor
Ha, I wish!
:D
i kill you.
I love this guy!
I imagine anyone who worked for him or did business with him will be most displeased with Speed
:D
"morally challenged scam artist" is a keeper :)
I would send an apology but can't find out how to contact you
Superb
Had to tweet it.
:D

Currently reading Salman Rushdie. I just realised how inappropriate his surname was for someone with a fatwa on his head. I thought reading his books was like wading through treacle so I have always avoided them

It very much is!
That one works
I will keep ignoring them then
How is everyone this evening?
Slight update from the IndyCar race protest
http://www.indystar.com/article/20110823/NEWS/110823019?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
I might join you in that...
Something tells me Oriol Servia is not to confident...
Yeah that's what Marshall Pruett said on MWM
Aye - I'd be stunned if the panel do anything. There will be some empty words about not doing it again and then Race Control will attempt to sweep the incident under the carpet.
This is getting all a bit F1 / FIA, circa 2006-09...
I don't see how they can change anything. The whole thing was a farce but you can't have someone overtaking the leader before the line under yellow and being declared the winner
It was clearly green when Servia and Dixon passed
But surely they can't pass till the line? Or are they saying they overtook before the line and the race finished at the line after being green for 3 seconds?
Ooooh!! The Killing is back on the iplayer. If anyone didn't catch it first time round, it's epic.
Don't know it
Which version? The Danish one or the American one?
Danish.
We just saw the American one and really wished we hadn't.
Yeah that came on while I was vegging in front of the tv a few days ago. I turned it over quite quickly!
I have just watched the first two episodes. It seems really good, although it is slightly annoying that I can't watch and do something else at the same time. Have to read. :)
the track goes live when they exit the final corner
Yeah that is a bit irritating.
ooh thanks
Not that many people here have seen it, oddly enough. They've only really started taking notice of it now that other countries have liked it.
I couldn't ever watch it live, I get too distracted and realise I have no idea whats happening and have to rewind it. I didn't realise how often I play something on iplayer then change the screen and leave it going....
From the head on replay, the circuit was green for approximately 2.8 seconds, during which Hunter-Reay bogged down and Servia and Dixon passed him.
The yellow came out (which is only officially defined by the track lights) again just as Servia reached the start / finish line, which is the crux of their argument.
Servia technically started lap 216 as the leader, but whether they recognise that lap in race control is another matter. Unfortunately the rules are so horribly ambiguous, which has led to this disaster.
I still can't believe there is a rule in IndyCar that essentially says "all incidents or situations can be ruled at Race Control's discretion."
Brazil 2003 I suppose - and despite F1 having a proper procedure for dealing with it
oh , my friends and I loved it.
You're missing out! It's not a patch on the Danish one.
Yeah, I've been trying to find the Danish one all summer and can't in the US. Either online or DVD, I don't care....where can I get it?
Did you? Even how it ended? We felt cheated...
No, we learned not to take anything that it was doing for granted, even if we wanted it wrapped up and it wasn't. That was just part of it not being a typical show. Nothing was as it seemed, and in my own mind it was how real investigations go - wrong turns, red herrings, misguided clues, the whole thing. We can't wait for next season.
I was thinking more in terms of the mistrust of race control and the series as a whole rather than than the individual race as such
that's the whole of the last 20 years for F1
I felt like I was messed about all season for nothing, and the last 5 minutes of the last episode were a proper kick in the guts. I couldn't care less what happens now!
I think F1 was at its worst from'06-'09 though. Those last years of the Mosley era were just horrible
That sucks.
Do you know how I can get the Danish one? I can't find it anywhere here in the US.
Benetton 1994 was a joke
It appears they don't make a region 1 DVD. Unless you can play region 2 DVDs, you can't.
Try telling it to Damon
;)
Thanks for checking, at least I didn't miss it somewhere.
I knew it was out here and kind of assumed there had been a US release. We're always late to the party with DVDs.....
I hope I can get it at some point. I'll have to look periodically. I even tried streaming on Amazon, which has had more than Netflix in the past, but no luck...yet.
it wasn't even the final race, it was all season long. the year that FIA stood for Flavio International Assistance
You'd need to buy it from Amazon in the UK if it's not coming to US TV.
Will that be the right region DVD? I don't think I saw it there...
Isn't your DVD player zone free? I thought they all were these days?
I'd have to check, I bought it a long time ago.
You can buy Region 2 DVDs on US amazon.
I also found some less scrupulous individuals wanting to sell you homemade copies which I might give a wide berth.
hehe
Yeah, I don't do that.
If I decide to buy myself a copy, I'll let you borrow it and try :D
Aw, thanks.
I just checked the back of my DVD player-asaurus, and it's only region 1.
How RUDE of it!
I didn't know Patrick Carpentier had retired from driving.

It should have a walker and collect social security from the looks of it. I think it has grandbaby DVD players.
I'm mainly excited that if they're reshowing series 1 on the beeb, they're probably winding up to showing the second season :D
They're making a third, apparently...
I did - what actually surprised me is that I thought he retired years ago

:D
I watched the race live, the cheers around the circuit for him were amazing
Standing ovation from several of the stands as well
Poor Pat ( always in a hat) at work still doesn't understand why I call him 'Pat-Reek' occasionally, even when I add 'Carpont-E-A' on the end. Silly non-racing people :)
They are a problem
looks like windsor had that comment removed?
http://formula-one.speedtv.com/article/video-the-flying-lap-with-peter-windsor
Both comments have been removed. The other one was pretty bland.
maybe we imagined them.
Like he imagined that he was going to be in F1
:)
I kinda miss the Panda.
I'm double fistin' iPads over here. Being on the ios dev team is kinda fun!
The panda is still there
I'm on sidepodcastdaily.com, using Chrome, and when it does it's dimming thing the panda doesn't show up for me. Was wondering if it was a bug or intentional.
I had to scroll up to see her.
Didn't know that
It's fixed.
no plans to remove the panda, no.
Can you have a panda on a chicken site?
Or possibly mine was never broken but I've definitely sighted a panda.
erm...
Baby chicken Thursday is never going to catch on
Mine just went to a higher branch, but she was still there.
Just listening to Jordan's podcast that was mentioned earlier. He thought Lewis's Ali G comment was a serious suggestion that his colour was affecting the decisions of the stewards
hehe

Have they started an appeal yet?
I gave them as much as I could...for the children.
It's them who suffer in situations like this. They have to sit on the grass because there are not enough chairs
They may even have to...*sniff* clean up the yard...and...*gulp* it may be...WET. *shudders*
Tragic Maybe we should have a sidepodcast appeal for them

hehe
I think we should keep any sidepodcast appeals for sidepodcast. ;)
Did you feel the second quake?
Only a 2.8 so you could probably have been at the epicentre and not noticed

Nope, no spidey senses about it, either.
2.8 is less than a train going by half a mile away probably
