February is here, and we are looking forward to a busy day at Sidepodcast Towers. However, that doesn't mean we'll leave you with nothing to discuss. Here's what's going on at the moment:

  • Mateschitz has said he won't be rushing to sell Toro Rosso, as he only wants to give it to a buyer who will keep the team alive and well. This is good news for the team, and it's refreshing to see a team being sold without the controversy and depressing headlines.
  • Supposedly the French Grand Prix has been dealt another blow, as plans for a street race in Paris are ditched. This never seemed particularly likely, but what with all the recent news about a French race being negative, will it ever return to the calendar?
  • Don't forget to vote for your choice between Rosberg and Piquet on the first round of the Character Cup. You've got until 7pm tonight, so make your selection if you haven't already, and share your reasons, if you so desire.

We will be back later today with the second round, and more news, if there is any. Please feel free to discuss whatever is on your minds, and I'll see you in the comments.

are you on the next leg of the sidepodtour by any chance? or just busy with other f1 stuff... do we really need to wait till monday to find out? or by tomorrow do you mean later today?

If anyone can help - I've downloaded GPM2 and the 2008 mod but everything's still like 1996 despite the updated images and backgrounds. Help?

If I rememebr ( been years, bear with me) you had to toggle an option somewhere... Joe might knoew, I remember him telling me but it's so late and I've gone blank :(

  • me01/02/2009 at 00:21

or by tomorrow do you mean later today?

    sorry. yes, sunday. hopefully.

  • Joe01/02/2009 at 00:22

Scott, there's a config file in the 2008 mod folder right? I think it's a .cfg file, go to start a long campign, choose a team, and when you see the option to Change Car Colours, choose that option and you should now have the correct teams.

  • Lukeh01/02/2009 at 00:22

Joe saves the day just as predicted :p

Do I need to copy all the files into a folder somewhere?

hehe. more news tomorrow, but there won’t be a live show this week sadly.

mmm interesting ... I look forward to hearing what you guys have been up to :-)

  • Joe01/02/2009 at 00:28

My mistake, it's a .gcf file that should be somewhere in the folder. And I see I missed out putting in a crucial bit of info.

After you've choosen your team, and you're at the n ext screen which says Customise Teams at the top, choose Load Config. Then load that .gcf file that should be with the 2008 mod. Afetr that, choose to Select Car Colours. You should now have the correct teams.

  • Scott Woodwiss01/02/2009 at 00:28

Never mind, I got it! :D

What about the Malaysia track? Should I get that too? And where should it go?

  • Joe01/02/2009 at 00:32

I dunno about the track. Try on the GPM2 forums. Such a thing didn't exist when I played back in the ye olde days of.......summer 2008. <_<

Let me know if you can finish races while watching them, instead of just skipping. Told you about that problem earlier, but I think Luke could finish races fine.

  • Lukeh01/02/2009 at 00:35

Yeah I got through races alright.

  • Joe01/02/2009 at 00:45

Now that just leaves me confused and sad. : ( I really can't enjoy the game when my team never finishes a race.

On a side note, there's a topic on that GPM forum about a 2009 mod, which shall be in progress soon, woo.

Sky show it as well. The coverage of the NFL is a bit weird. Channel 5 do the regular season including 2 live games a week. Until last season ITV did the post season in cluding the superbowl but this year Channel 5 did the post season but only highlights and BBC 1 have the superbowl. It doesn't make any sense to me.

Sky show live games all the way through the season.

Easy. In NZ they show so much rugby on TV you can get really sick of it. So I'm perfectly fine with not seeing it that often.

There's always Sopcast or TVU if I could be really bothered to see it...

First of all, what version have you got? In particular, do you have DOSBox, DOSBox Reloaded (which is much easier to use) or some other variation using the DOSBox engine?

I've used both vanilla DOSBox and the Reloaded version, but the way to get games to run differs a little depending on which one you're using.

Although DOSBox can be fiddly to set up, once it gets going it will run most DOS games, and the ones it struggles with are usually absolutely ancient (i.e. pre-1990) or were badly coded in the first place.

'me', i think i have just found out why the doohickey does that quote thing to me sometimes. It seems to be that sometimes once i have clicked quote and go to write a reply it highlights the last '>' so once i start typing it deletes it, i didn't notice that had happened until after i clicked post comment. However i swear when i use Chrome it doesn't come up as missing the '>' before i click post. So it's not your fault it's mine. need to slow down my typing i think.

I think it may be cancelled

our school never officially closes... it's a boarding school see, so it has to remain 'open'. So if the roads are good enough i'll be going into school :( however if not i'll be taking lots of pics of the snow and stuff plus looking after my ill cat.

  • lou02/02/2009 at 00:02

loving the fropio pics. snowmen photos tomorrow?

i just opened the window again and it's no longer snowing much. i hope it snows again now, i wanna make a snowman, haven't made one for years now.

I never got to skip school, since I live on a road that always gets gritted, my primary school was down a path that somehow never seemed to accumulate snow and my secondary school was at the end of the gritted road. Sixth form was further away, but the only weather-related issue they had was getting home on January 24 2004...

    Half time

    already? cheers.

  • Steven Roy02/02/2009 at 00:57

    already? cheers.

There is a bit of a delay because one of the Pittsburg players intecepted a pass on his own goal line and ran it back the full length of the field for a touchdown. A combination of him being injured and play reviews took a while.

It usually takes about 10 minutes to get the stage set up.

    sponsored by bridgestone?

Yes that's why I thought they would advertise what is seen as their American brand

It's like anything to do with aging. You only ever need to be as old as you want to be. I refuse to age and so does he.

It is always the problem with the half time show. It is built up as the huge institution but every year it seems like it is over before it has begun

That would be fun. She's one smart cookie. No interest in F1 though despite her middle name being Mansell. She doesn't like getting out of bed early either :P

Did I mention that she's quite shy? She has just declared that it will 'never happen'. I wonder how much trouble I'd be in if you called her mobile from Skype? While she is still in bed :-)

'never happen' has been said so often on this site. I remember someone saying that about a panda costume. In the end 'never happen' always happens

if i recall, the good lady did comment on jeremy's behalf once. somehow she avoided the sidepodtractorbeam and never returned :(

Just the mention of cupcakes bought a squeal of delight. I get them cooked for me every valentines day. Perhaps I should return the favour this year?

That is a good one for proving that I love her (live shout-out on a podcast can't be beaten in the romance stakes right?).

But I was thinking of ammunition to hit her with. I mean really, if she truly loved me, she'd come on here more often right? :P
