They had a double page advertisement in AUTOSPORT prior to Christmas asking folk to apply for a driving competition sponsored by Nissan. To apply you just had to send a grovelling email stating why you should be picked.
I got picked, but didn't turn up as they kept changing the venue and dates due to the snow and couldn't get time off work.
And just as well I didn't bother, because the top four winners who go on to compete against the other 'FREEracers' across Europe are none other than British F3/F3 Euroseries driver Nick Tandy and A1GP's Robbie Kerr.
Well that seems jolly fair doesn't it? Pit member's of the public against professional racing drivers?!!

Part two of my AUTOSPORT bashing: writing a letter of complaint about the shockingly woeful subscription service.
I called yesterday to get an address on where to send it to. Researched the address given on Google and wasn't entirely confident it was the right one, so called again this morning, and what do you know? Was completely the wrong address, as this was just for a third-party company who re-sell subscriptions.

I have just discovered the option on google search to limit your results to "only pages you have visited". It's a godsend if you use multiple computers.
You can do that? I never knew.
Well I think it might be new... You have to have web history turned on. But it's incredibly useful for that thing of "I know I was looking at this page the other day".
After you search click the show options plus sort of top left of results and you'll see the links half way down (if you have let google store your web history).

The last type number to be used is 123, which is for the Esprit replacement. The last F1 car bore Type 104.
Correction, it was Type 109.
I remember the 104 but I never kept up with road car numbers. I guess it would be too complicated now that they are entirely separate from the car company. THey could always call it the Lotus 6 as that was never used.

I'm checking type numbers now and the 104 was actually used for the Lotus Carlton.
Also, the 109b was the last running F1 chassis. There was another one in the works, Type 112, but that only got as far as the monocoque before it was scrapped when Lotus pulled out.

I think the Herbert Hakkinen Lotus that was the last decent F1 car was the 107 not the 104. By that time they didn't have the money to develop it. It could have been really good.

That was 1991 I'm sure. I did ask why CTL only accounts for Lotus F1 cars up to the 102. The reason is because those made after it were done so after the team was sold by the Chapmans. That's not to say they won't maintain them if asked to, but they don't count them as part of their heritage because they don't have anything to do with the Chapman name.

Neither are very talkative so they make quite a dull pairing. But they both can be quite funny/emotive, so I'd like to see them with new teammates.

Tony George has quit the board of Indy and associated companies.. He was ousted as CEO last year but kept board membership. I'm not yet sure what this means.
I assume either the family are pushing him right out or he doesn't want to be involved if he is not in charge. It must make the people in the IRL worried given how much money he has pumped into it.

I read something strange today.
The GP2 test that Schumi did last week was paid in half by the GP2 organisation and the other half was paid for by Mercedes.
Haug said that in an interview.
He was developing the new GP2 car
So why did Mercedes have to pay for that?
I changed mine to an array of Le Mans pics :D
I am not sure what the deal was but it seems odd Mercedes paying for their driver to develop a car with a Renault engine

Why not? There is clearly a spot for one in the current touch. I think it's an obvious upgrade. I can't see Apple not putting one in
the fact they see it as the rival for other hand held games consoles, and adding a camera would take away something that the iphone has over the touch.

Hmm. I don't see the two devices as competing, so I don't understand that.
apple make more money on the iphone than the touch i believe so if apple add a camera to the touch it means the iphone loses something specfic to it and all the iphone would have is the ability to make calls.
and a 3g connection. i get your take, but this was never the apple way.
microsoft knobbled their product lines to screw customers. am really hoping the lensless touch was a glitch in the matrix.

While I was in Paris I went once to Roland Garros. I was amazed to see that the only place they would allow me to enter was a (small) museum. I would have paid to enter the main courts and to walk around the whole complex... but no.
