Hey Everyone!! Today is my first full day back from my holiday and I’m already missing the seaside! However life goes on and I must get back to doing normal things like introducing you all to Sunday! While I’ve been away there seems to have been a lot of things going on, and it seems that even moving house can be a little dangerous- let’s hope that Mrs C’s Sunday is much less painful than yesterday. Lots of things happening today to keep us all occupied though so I should get on with the bullet points;

  • Before Mrs C was attacked by a washing machine both she and RG have been working very hard on sorting out our brand new Wiki site, doesn’t it look lovely? Go on have a look around, it’s very nice, plenty of awesome pages to explore. Mr C has also been busy with a brand new Factbyte  Factbox page. You should check that out too. A huge thank you to all three for their hard work this past week.
  • Now I know it’s been mentioned before but Ant Davidson joined twitter this week! It’s very exciting and I’m hoping one day Holly Samos will complete the 5livef1 team on twitter. Until then I want to urge you all to take a look at Ant’s page.( )  I will confess that’s not the only reason I’m mentioning him in the daily, he’s again shown how great he is by following Mr C on twitter. How exciting!
  • Pat has also been very busy! He has written a rather epic post about IndyCar and the announcement of a new car concept that will start in 2012. () He explains the new chassis announcement perfectly, which is brilliant for both people who follow IndyCar closely and those (like me) who aren’t such avid followers. Thank you to Pat too!
  • Now it’s time for me to bring you the sad news that there will be no Giggles radio today. He’ll be back next week though, and there are plenty of archives we can tune into in the meantime.

That’s about it for today, I’m off to see the WTCC and F2 action at Brands today so expect some photos of my day in the next week. If you’re also attending the racing and happen to spot me feel free to come and say hi. Whatever you’re doing today, have a lovely day!

Not here but thanks for the old wiki mention, I think Mrs C does most of the hard work on the transferring bit of the stuff. So yeah. Pre-season match tomorow so night.

it's worth every penny. turn-by-turn nav (for free) is also awesome.

we had a little experiment on the way down to devon. We set up one of the HTCs, a sat nav... and my friend with a map to see which was easier to hear/use/navigate etc and the HTC was just as good as the Sat Nav... which we were very impressed with.

  • me17/07/2010 at 23:30

that's the one. and the satnav was, what, £60(ish)?

  • lou17/07/2010 at 23:31

twas one of the more expensive sat navs, i think nearer £100... definitely get your money's worth with the HTC.

agreed. my only complaint is the UI is harder to figure than the itouch, but for features it's much better value.

the UI takes some getting used to i agree, although by the end of the week i'd nearly managed it. Where as i suppose you can pick up an ipod/iphone/ipad and know how to use it pretty quickly. i usually find it hardish to adapt to a new phone though so it's no problem.

Although i still can get used to the fact you draw a pattern to unlock the screen rather than putting a pin code in.

People can guess the code. Guessing a pattern is way harder

  • lou17/07/2010 at 23:40

no iPhone 4 for Lou? :(

i did see one the other day and the quality of the display is incredible. However i already have an ipod touch.. and i strange in that i like to have seperate gadgets to do different things. I'll happily carry round a phone, ipod, and camera in my bag rather than one gadget that does it all. So for me the iphone is just not right... plus it's expensive..

  • lou17/07/2010 at 23:40

People can guess the code. Guessing a pattern is way harder

it's only a 4x4 grid though.. there are only a set number of patterns... eventually you're going to get the right one.

We can't win them all I suppose :)

I would like to get an Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S is good I hear) in our household but Zoe refuses and I don't need another phone

hehe oh i do love the iphone.. and would happily buy one if i could justify spending the money and ending up with an iphone and an ipod touch in my bag at the same time. :) plus i'd rather put the money i save towards a macbook or something :)

  • lou17/07/2010 at 23:44

If you put in a 4 digit code you have 9:1 against guessing the right digit. With the grid it is 15:1 per digit and instead of 999:1 against guessing a four digit code you have 50,625:1 against guessing a four point pattern on a 4*4 grid

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 00:00

i have no idea what that means, but i'm pretty sure apple need you.

Simple stats. You have a one in ten chance of guessing a digit but a one in 15 chance of guessing a square on the 4X4 grid. So for a four digit code you have a one in a thousand chance of guessin it but for a pattern of four taps you have a one in 50,626 chance. I am sure Apple know that

I have seen that mentioned a few times today. The odd thing is it seems he decided to rank players at the world cup but not to run a rankings system before it to decide who to choose.

  • me18/07/2010 at 00:28

I can kind of see the point but I have no idea why he made it public. That was incredibly stupid. The only people that needed to know of its existence were his assistant and coaches who would have a part in team selection

  • me18/07/2010 at 00:35

    Castrol footballers?

no. apparently this is for football fans who:

"rarely have the opportunity to use an in-depth, objective and understandable analysis system"

i assume capello thinks castrol football rankings are bunkem too.

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 00:37

"...a statistical analysis system developed in order to offer a universal and completely objective result"

Depends how he is using it. If he has it set up so that he can work out the result of certain player combinations it should be able to usefully contribute to team selection. It is easy to identify the best players in each position but often that doesn't result in the best team. It is a huge problem in the England midfield for example and has been for a few years. There are two great players who play the same position but when the both play the result is disaster every time. But if he doesn't play one of them and loses the press instantly pick on that.

  • paul18/07/2010 at 00:37

"rarely have the opportunity to use an in-depth, objective and understandable analysis system"

    Oooooooooooo. Christines footballers then? ;-)

surely it's just going head-to-head with castrol?

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 00:38

no. apparently this is for football fans who:

It's for fans?? He is insane. That is fine if he works for the media but the team manager can't do that

I watched Back To The Future last night. I think you should write a blog post on Tardis vs. DeLorean to distract you :)

i've never seen back to the future. maybe i need to do that.

  • Janna18/07/2010 at 11:17

i've never seen back to the future. maybe i need to do that.

You definitely need to see the first one. The sequels are OK but I wouldn't make a lot of effort to see them.

if i manage to escape tomorrow i'll see if i can get a copy.

  • Nick18/07/2010 at 11:18

Sydney CBD, or slightly south would be great. You don't want to be too close to family :P

  • Nick18/07/2010 at 11:24

I stayed in sydney for a month, its much to close to family, i would consider perth, or maybe tasmania. anywhere else is too close!

the great thing about being here is i have at least a 12 hour lead time should any family decide to visit :)

  • Amy18/07/2010 at 11:25

What's the equivalent to JB HiFi in England? Virgin? Sanity? HMV?

I do not know, I don't leave for another 5 weeks and 2 hours ;)

    (It's countdown day!)

There are some near where my family are, watching them fly at sunset is amazing

JB hifi do hardware too dont they?

If so its probably currys, if not then HMV

    yahoo says:

By plugging the unit in prematurely, you risk a condition called "slugging" the compressor. A refrigerant compressor is meant to compress a gas only... if for some reason it brings back liquid (either refrigerant or oil), you risk breaking one of the internal valves. Do yourself a favor and let it sit.

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:17

    Oo that was nasty

The track is so narrow at that point they had no option but stop it.

Interesting to see what Rossi can do now he is warmed up and only has 9 laps to race and no gap to the front guys

  • Amy18/07/2010 at 12:17

1/3 of the way through the race seems very late to do a total restart from the grid, not that I know anything about bikes :D

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:19

He seemed to be enjoyig himself there. And not a sponsor on hs clothes or mentioned in his interview

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:20

  • RG18/07/2010 at 12:21

I suppose he's not there on Virgin Racing business, just for pleasure really.

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:22

I can't believe how well Rossi was going. It's only 6 weeks since he crashed and ended up with a compound fracture of his shin to go with the shoulder he had already trashed in a training ride. He is not supposed to be anywhere near a bike for another 4 weeks but after 9 laps he was in 4th.

  • paul18/07/2010 at 12:23

Rossi is amazing. Shows he is tough too.

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:24

Race to restart in just under 20 minutes

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:25

Doctor Costa couldn't understand how he was able to race with the shoulder before he broke his leg.

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:26

The front end of number 41 looks pretty well bent.

  • paul18/07/2010 at 12:26

i really can't see the fun of watching one person dominate. especially if they dominate when broken.

  • Amy18/07/2010 at 12:29

all that work for nothing. It's a brand new race!

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:30

Doohan did a lot more damage to himself than Rossi. He had two huge accidents that cost him another 3 championships to go with the 5 he got

i really can't see the fun of watching one person dominate. especially if they dominate when broken.

    I did thank yoooou ♥

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:31

i really can't see the fun of watching one person dominate. especially if they dominate when broken.

He is not dominating he was 4th before the crash. There is a difference watching an absolute genius operate and win easpecially the way he does it than watch someone dominate because he has absolutely everything including the governing body in his favour

  • paul18/07/2010 at 12:32

    yeah, cause he crashed.

no not really. Lorenzo, dovisioso, stoner are all competitive. Hasn't been this good since the days of Lawson, rainy, schwantz and Gardner

  • me18/07/2010 at 12:32

He is not dominating he was 4th before the crash. There is a difference watching an absolute genius operate and win easpecially the way he does it than watch someone dominate because he has absolutely everything including the governing body in his favour

i'd rather someone else had a go. i might start watching if he ever retires. i think i'd shoot myself if he was in f1 this year.

  • Amy18/07/2010 at 12:33

You'd never see an F1 driver pimping their twitter on the grid haha

  • paul18/07/2010 at 12:33

Plus seeing what Lorenzo does when he wins is a real giggle

  • Journeyer18/07/2010 at 12:33

Even as a Schumi fan, I'd agree. There's almost nothing you can complain about with Rossi. He always has genuinely competitive teammates as well.

  • Lukeh18/07/2010 at 12:33

i'd rather someone else had a go. i might start watching if he ever retires. i think i'd shoot myself if he was in f1 this year.

  • Journeyer18/07/2010 at 12:34

Crazy race so far. Rossi for the podium, I'd think, but 3rd will be as good as it gets. Lorenzo-Stoner-Rossi.

    Hi all.

  • me18/07/2010 at 12:34

So... valentino = Moto GP's michael?

absolutely. he even tested the ferrari.

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:35

So... valentino = Moto GP's michael?

No. He is a proper champion and deserves all his wins

  • Journeyer18/07/2010 at 12:35

So... valentino = Moto GP's michael?

yes... and no. this is michael in terms of building a team around him and turning things around at crappy teams (see Yamaha), but with no favours done for him.

  • Amy18/07/2010 at 12:37

are motogp grid girls provided by the teams rather than the circuits?

  • me18/07/2010 at 12:37

michael's domination of f1 was boring regardless of help or otherwise. all domination in sport is boring.

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:38

Schumacher went from a small team Benetton to a a huge team Ferrari and took five years to win a championship. Rossi went from the totally dominant Honda to Yamaha who were rubbish and previous champions who went there made no impression. Rossi won his first race and the championship in his first year. Now that he has dominated the championship with them for a few years rumour has it he is switching to Ducati next season

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:38

are motogp grid girls provided by the teams rather than the circuits?

    Seem to be

  • Journeyer18/07/2010 at 12:38

are motogp grid girls provided by the teams rather than the circuits?

yup. stoner's grid girl is his wife.

  • paul18/07/2010 at 12:38

Motogp has had way too much of that. But it's good this year.

  • me18/07/2010 at 12:39

Motogp has had way too much of that. But it's good this year.

even though a man who can't walk is beating them?

it'll happen, most probably. i'm thinking rossi-hayden at ducati for 2011, with a view to getting dovi for 2012 for all-italian fiat ducati. spies moves up to factory yamaha alongside lorenzo. 3-man team at honda for next year with pedrosa, dovi, and casey.

  • Amy18/07/2010 at 12:39

yup. stoner's grid girl is his wife.

i can't put my finger on why that seems so much tackier to me.

  • Journeyer18/07/2010 at 12:39

even though a man who can't walk is beating them?

sounds like Grand Prix, if you ask me... ;)

and rossi isn't beating all of them...

  • paul18/07/2010 at 12:40

even though a man who can't walk is beating them?

But he's not. There are 4 riders who have every chance of winning now

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:40

michael's domination of f1 was boring regardless of help or otherwise. all domination in sport is boring.

Depends why someone is dominant. Rossi arrived in Moto GP when Biaggi was supposed to be the greatest thing on two wheels and destroyed him. Gibernau looked capable of taking a couple of championships until he annoyed Rossi one day and Rossi vowed that he would never win another race. From that day a guy who looked capable of winning championships never won another race because Rossi simply wouldn't let him

    VISIT SPAIN.

    That's not subtle.

    But OK, I will.

I still find that odd on a German circuit

  • me18/07/2010 at 12:42

    Depends why someone is dominant

not to me. in speed sporting i'd ban winners from competing again. once you'd proven yourself, go find another hobby.

  • Kathi18/07/2010 at 12:42

    Finn crashes

    he always does that

  • Amy18/07/2010 at 12:42

I still find that odd on a German circuit

they have kerbs that look like their flag, they can't have everything :D

  • lou18/07/2010 at 12:43

    q

You wouldn't like windsurfing. Or squash.

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:43

    i... what... erm... okay.

You are happy for Jenson to be banned from F1?

  • Amy18/07/2010 at 12:44

    There would be nobody left...

the badoers of the world would be winners!

  • me18/07/2010 at 12:44

    There would be nobody left...

in f1? it would mean losing alonso, schumacher, button and hamilton.

    that would be excellent.

  • lou18/07/2010 at 12:45

You are happy for Jenson to be banned from F1?

nooo i don't really understand mr c's reasons.. but i thought it easier to agree.... JB's not getting banned from nothing ;)

  • lou18/07/2010 at 12:45

    that would be excellent.

    you're mean...

  • Journeyer18/07/2010 at 12:45

i can't put my finger on why that seems so much tackier to me.

you should google how they met... :D

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:45

    that would be excellent.

You could have JV back winning

  • RG18/07/2010 at 12:46

    that would be excellent.

    I think thats insane

  • Amy18/07/2010 at 12:46

in f1? it would mean losing alonso, schumacher, button and hamilton.

oh so only the champions? I thought you meant all the winners which would be quite a large chunk of the grid.

  • Amy18/07/2010 at 12:46

you should google how they met... :D

oh I already know that story, it makes me cringe. They both look like children in their wedding pictures.

  • me18/07/2010 at 12:46

You could have JV back winning

    why? he's banned too.

  • lou18/07/2010 at 12:47

    why? he's banned too.

but.. you can't just ban people from a sport because they are good at it.. it doesn't make sense..

  • Lukeh18/07/2010 at 12:48

On the plus side, rubens woulds till be in f1!

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:48

    why? he's banned too.

He hasn't won a race in 13 years that must get him another chance

  • Amy18/07/2010 at 12:48

but.. you can't just ban people from a sport because they are good at it.. it doesn't make sense..

I'm trying to imagine tennis without Roger. Andy might have actually won something!

  • lou18/07/2010 at 12:48

On the plus side, rubens woulds till be in f1!

he'd be champion by now so probably wouldn't..

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:49

I'm trying to imagine tennis without Roger. Andy might have actually won something!

No Roger, no Rafa and no anyone else who has won a grand slam tournament

  • me18/07/2010 at 12:49

oh so only the champions? I thought you meant all the winners which would be quite a large chunk of the grid.

just the champions. x1 championship title should be enough for anyone.

  • me18/07/2010 at 12:49

but.. you can't just ban people from a sport because they are good at it.. it doesn't make sense..

JV is a world champion. so he's banned.

  • paul18/07/2010 at 12:49

On the plus side, rubens woulds till be in f1!

Just think: DC vs Rubens. Go the not-champions!

speaking of tennis, my tickets for January turned up in the mailbox. Got your tickets for November yet Lou? ;)

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:50

just the champions. x1 championship title should be enough for anyone.

I think if you are going to be consistent any team that wins a championship should be banned. By now Ferrari or McLaren could be successful football clubs

  • me18/07/2010 at 12:51

I'm trying to imagine tennis without Roger. Andy might have actually won something!

but imagine roger playing football. he's banned from tennis so he could go do something else.

  • lou18/07/2010 at 12:51

speaking of tennis, my tickets for January turned up in the mailbox. Got your tickets for November yet Lou? ;)

oh dammit.. no. next month :)

  • lou18/07/2010 at 12:51

oh dammit.. no. next month :)

    can you remind me? :)

  • me18/07/2010 at 12:51

I think if you are going to be consistent any team that wins a championship should be banned. By now Ferrari or McLaren could be successful football clubs

as i said in the wiki. they must drop all drivers (and test drivers) and start again.

  • lou18/07/2010 at 12:51

but imagine roger playing football. he's banned from tennis so he could go do something else.

but.. they wouldn't just switch sports?..

  • Amy18/07/2010 at 12:51

    can you remind me? :)

all the weekend tickets have sold out, by the time I remind you they'll all be gone :D

  • me18/07/2010 at 12:52

but.. they wouldn't just switch sports?..

they'd be bored. they could do all sorts of interesting things.

  • lou18/07/2010 at 12:52

as i said in the wiki. they must drop all drivers (and test drivers) and start again.

    and test drivers?!

i'd end up supporting no one..

  • RG18/07/2010 at 12:52

but imagine roger playing football. he's banned from tennis so he could go do something else.

I am... quite possibly at a pretty low non-league level, if not Sunday league.

  • Journeyer18/07/2010 at 12:52

    Lorenzo-Pedrosa is a nailbiter!

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:52

as i said in the wiki. they must drop all drivers (and test drivers) and start again.

How can you ban a test driver who probably hasn't even sat in the car?

  • lou18/07/2010 at 12:53

they'd be bored. they could do all sorts of interesting things.

Jenson would just do triathlons.. i'd only get to see him once a year..

  • me18/07/2010 at 12:53

    and test drivers?!

i'm not banning them from competing. they just have to go to another team. a losing team.

  • Amy18/07/2010 at 12:53

    Lorenzo-Pedrosa is a nailbiter!

the otne of the commentators seem to be giving that opinion but I'm not excited by this.

    I so don't get bikes.

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:54

Jenson would just do triathlons.. i'd only get to see him once a year..

There are lots of triathlons. He could do one a week easily

  • lou18/07/2010 at 12:55

i'm not banning them from competing. they just have to go to another team. a losing team.

erm... but... what?.. so does that mean like Rob and other great F1 people would have to swap teams too?

  • RG18/07/2010 at 12:56

i'm not banning them from competing. they just have to go to another team. a losing team.

That could mean Sauber would be World Champions.

    And thats just wrong.

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 12:56

erm... but... what?.. so does that mean like Rob and other great F1 people would have to swap teams too?

    ahh true.

  • lou18/07/2010 at 13:00

  • paul18/07/2010 at 13:01

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 13:02

After 12/13 laps of the second part of the race Lorenzon on the same bike as Rossi is less than 4 seconds ahead of him. Busted leg and shouler cost 0.25 seconds a lap

  • paul18/07/2010 at 13:02

    O I spoke too soon

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 13:03

    Vale got Rossi'd there

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 13:10

Stoner got third in the end and Rossi finishes fourth. I can't believe he battled wheel to wheel right to the last corner. Most people in his condition would never have gotten involved in that kind of battle

  • Steven Roy18/07/2010 at 13:11

Good job. Ya jinxed him. :P

At least he doesn't need to stand on the podium with a crutch

  • Bassano18/07/2010 at 13:12

Right, am going to prime fourstar too but if Alex turns up today or tomorrow, it's important we only call him 'Judith'

its a strange feeling, actually wanting to do something "girly"

and on that note, I am taking advantage of no race and no giggles radio to have an early night. And by early night I mean I will probably curl up with Alistair and then all of a sudden it will be 3am as I'm quite enjoying the book I'm halfway through.

Indeed. Other than that titanic clash Rossi and Lorenzo had... last year, was it?, it's not one of Rossi's best circuits - the Americans tend to shine here. Ben Spies is my dark horse bet for the win.

There always are things like that produce that never see the light of day. I know at the Japanese GP one year Willi Weber lost a lot of merchandise with Michael Schumacher world champion on it when he didn't win it.

she gets more out of it. it's kinda pointless for a man who spends all day in front of one computer or another. and it's not usable enough to replace them.

    True enough

I suppose if you want to develop for one, having it in the household is enough too

You should get together with Joe to do a GP+ app

Lots of people would buy single issues rather than a year's subscription

If your parents see this crash, just tell them you're far more likely to get killed driving on the highway than getting hit by a car at a race track.

Or maybe that wouldn't be such a good idea either.

He says with the exchange rates and all that, we're better off getting wine etc in the EuroTunnel terminal in France rather than supermarket or whatever - they've got good offers which they tell you about on the way over, and a big selection. Although it may be worth checking Carrefour. The one I went to with him before has shut.

I have no idea how they are allowed to put stuff like this on the road

    I was thinking that

  • Pamela18/07/2010 at 19:27

    Esky?

White will work without ice if the place has a fridge.

Guinness can be heavy so an alternative would be good..

I'm sure we can sort out supplies in the area. Belgian beers must be found :)

Guinness can be heavy so an alternative would be good.

Not loads, just a few. I don't get on too well with fizzy beers though I will be sampling some of the local brew for sure ;)

Guinness from here is a good idea because I've no idea if they sell it or the special Belgian-style sort I had in Spain...

I'm sure we can source a wide selection of lagers and other things from various places :)

I do love the stuff, but I do also love the lager too.

But TBH, just make a list and I'll pay towards it. I'm pretty easy ;)

Not really. Too many stupid yellows. First 17 laps were green and the last 15 were too but the 50ish in the middle had about 6 yellows

They are getting rid of the cool fast cars and bringing in slower ones which aren't as impressive. Smaller engine sizes, but I think they have turbos.

We're about to enter a new turbo era aren't we

F1 regs are bound to do some kind of smaller capacity/restricted turbo thing when the re-jig things

Yeah it was really good. We drove heaps - apparently over 400km! We stayed in Malmø, which is quite a fun town, and just drove along the southern coast, stopping when we saw something nice. It was really cool and we saw a lot in the end :)

Bassano, how are you getting on with Biffy?

Had a run through the latest yesterday. Will listen to the early stuff this week, hopefully

  • Pat W18/07/2010 at 22:14

They make fun of me at work if one of the larger Marine helicopters flies over because I run to the window ;)

We have military helicopters flying really low over us at work now and then, just your standard Sea Kings or Merlins though. For the longest time I'd dash to the window to see them :) Still do sometimes, especially Chinooks. Sometimes we get fast jets too!

    it's what i live for!

I can understand gawking when they go overhead

    Just not recording registrations

  • RubberGoat18/07/2010 at 22:15

    Not a plane geek then?

    They're a special breed

Near the maintenance base at 6am at the weekends, waiting for the Airbus A380's to land

Wow... that is quite full on! I just like the liveries myself, Mrs. Goat and I like to guess them.

One time we were staying in an airport hotel at Billund and we had the window open. We hear (but can't see) a plane arrive and Mrs. Goat says "That's a KLM.". Sure enough, I doubted her so I looked out the window and it was. I asked her how she knew and she gave me a look and said "it always arrives at this time!"

I hate it when bands re-record early singles for their first album

to be honest with you, if you're really planning what songs to play in the car, for a road trip that's still more than 6 weeks away... well there's a wiki for that:

    http://sidepodcast.wikia.com/

create a bunch of spa pages and people who are going can add musical choices and stuff to that. it is designed for exactly purpose.

  • Bassano18/07/2010 at 23:02

but the question: What does Gavin like? will never be answered in the comments. he's asleep. a wiki page would be the perfect place to track any event planning.

He was here when the question was asked.

to me it just seems crazy. you could write a couple of guests posts and use those to track conversation, but every question you've asked about luggage recently will all be forgotten unless you track it.

what did amy answer? i bet you've forgotten already.

  • me18/07/2010 at 23:08

He was here when the question was asked.

fair enough. i can just see this whole conversation repeating again and again.

  • lou18/07/2010 at 23:08

she said she will probably have a holdall which can go by her feet.. cause she's called shotgun..

    next question? :P

She has a backpack that will sit in the front if need be

I think we've collectively assumed guest posts on the subject are frowned upon. I certainly have.

    A shipping container

    [30 kg suitcase]

I think we've collectively assumed guest posts on the subject are frowned upon. I certainly have.

i would prefer them, if only because i could ignore the thread entirely. kinda like we hid football posts from those not interested. i'll have a word will christine in the morning.

  • lou18/07/2010 at 23:11

i can just see this whole conversation repeating again and again.

ah that's true. although Spa talk hasn't repeated the same subject too much already has it?

i can see as people (okay me) start to get really excited it might become a problem (you may need to ban me from the comments for a bit)

  • Bassano18/07/2010 at 23:11

What about a spa weekly thread?

  • lou18/07/2010 at 23:12

What about a spa weekly thread?

or maybe we've just found the use for that google wave thing everyone can't find a use for?

  • Bassano18/07/2010 at 23:13

or maybe we've just found the use for that google wave thing everyone can't find a use for?

But nearly all of the people involved are because of this place

    Never used wave

i personally cannot cope with deciding what songs to play on the radio months ahead of time. if that's the discussion i'll catch you all in october.

  • Jon Waldock18/07/2010 at 23:13

Evening all, just popping in to say hi

ah that's true. although Spa talk hasn't repeated the same subject too much already has it?

The topics do repeat themselves a bit, with more developments each time, which can be a bit annoying, Mr C's idea sounds good.

Some proper F1 action! With refuelling and everything!!

If I gave my honest opinion I don't think there's anything wrong with using the wiki for planning stuff, worked for me so far

Plus I don't really get involved in the planning comments, it's not my cup of tea tbh...

  • me18/07/2010 at 23:14

What about a spa weekly thread?

weekly threads will fall off doohickey within two to three days. i'll have a word with christine. in the meantime, g'night.

We aren't taking it that seriously... just speculative stuff for a laugh..

I can't cope with the buzzkill all the time so maybe another thread will work.

I think its simple, someone sets up a wiki page, links to it in the comments, surely there is no need for any more discussion after that?

Tbh we tried that for accomodation and travel and it only works to provide info on things, not for planning things. The planning was done in the comments.

  • Bassano18/07/2010 at 23:16

It needs some thought, I agree

I thought LCLT vs Doohickey would be fine for those wishing not to listen

  • Andy Taylor18/07/2010 at 23:16

fair enough. i can just see this whole conversation repeating again and again.

ah fair enough. planning songs months in advance i can see as a bit annoying. i'm sure the intention wasn't to drive you from the comments.

i think Spa talk should go to like a wiki page or something... that way it's much easier for people to ignore you're right. the football comments were a bit much for me sometimes to i just opened the daily in live comments, much nicer to be able to ignore things you're not interested in.

please don't disappear till October... Spa is only in August....

  • Jon Waldock18/07/2010 at 23:17

which thread should i open in lclt to ignore spa talk? i can ignore daily, but that means ignoring everything.

  • me18/07/2010 at 23:19

I understand the logistics are tricky

  • me18/07/2010 at 23:20

fair enough. i may just avoid the daily in the meantime.

Same issue. Crowding the stream for others

  • lou18/07/2010 at 23:21

    october seems safe.

but you wont see my pics :'( bad times. i had no idea Spa talk was so annoying. Wiki seems like the best idea then, or even just DMs over twitter or emails work for gathering info.

  • Bassano18/07/2010 at 23:21

fair enough. i may just avoid the daily in the meantime.

That's not fair on you either

  • Bassano18/07/2010 at 23:24

Kinda ruined my evening too, think I'll do something else for a bit. Catch you all whenever

  • Amy18/07/2010 at 23:31

Perhaps wave or something is the answer, the wiki doesn't suit the way i like to communicate about this sort of thing, as demonstrated by the number of "definite"s on the Spa page who actually aren't coming. Everyone appears to have left now anyway, i shall go do some work :D
