Hello everybody, I'm back for the second time this week to bring you your daily dose of goodness. Double Christine this week, aren't you all lucky? Although there's no racing, there's still plenty going on that we can talk about - and no, I don't mean the golf. (Sorry, RG). Here are a couple of the things on our minds:
- The big question on everyone's lips at the moment is: what on earth is going on at Hispania? Fresh from booting Bruno out of the team for a weekend, they've decided he can return whilst Chandhok gets to be a spectator instead. Yamamoto gets another turn behind the wheel, which is weird, because... he wasn't that good. Mr C has more on the blog, please let us know what you think of this messy situation.
- We are onto the third matchup of the Character Cup already and so far it has been a ridiculously close run thing. Who would have thought Alonso would be beaten by Petrov? Or that it would be so even between Hulkenberg and Buemi? Anyway, today we're voting on two Brazilians - di Grassi and Barrichello. I feel this one won't be as close and all I can say is phew!
- A little bit of self-promotion now - I spruced up my Twitter account with some lovely purple paint, and have also blogged about the process on my personal blog. It's also worth repeating that the fabulous Anthony Davidson is on Twitter now, and has actually been tweeting. Lovely stuff.
That should do it for now, it's Saturday, the start of the weekend, so I hope you are having a good one. Let us know what you are up to and how you plan to spend your Sunday now that Franck has been kicked out of Superleague. Eh-hem, I promised myself I wouldn't go into that... See you in the comments!
silverstone race edit is up. didn't realise redbull mechanics have the fire extinguishers strapped to their backs. the guy looks like a ghostbuster: http://www.formula1.com/video/race_edits.html
ferrari also have a kangaroo tv on the pitwall. nice to see their view of the race is just as lame as ours.
lurvery daily ms. b.
Franck has been kicked out of Superleague?? When did that happen?
today: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/85304
(i mean, yesterday)
"Who ya gonna call?"
"Left rear tyre man!"
heeh!
Boo whoever made that decision. He was doing well
i want to go home. i dont feel well
Have the day off
i might stop working saturdays. the extra money is nice but im sick of it.
Just think of your European trip
Well I guess there is only a couple more. I already have a shift next week, the one after that I can't do as I have plans with a friend and then there is only 2 more weekends before the weekend I leave. I guess I can handle 3 more shifts.
A really long IndyCar ping.
Piiiinnnnggg

woah!
I forgot the 'more' tag, I'd better put that in..
:)
You'll need one of those two weekends for prep and panic time.
I don't do prep and panic! I do prep and calm :D
Well no matter how much I prepare, I always have a panic that I've forgotten something! It is good to have a clear day before leaving to pick up the stuff that might be forgotten..
Indeed, I leave at midnight on a sunday night so i have that whole weekend free.
Wooo I have a visa :D Organisation rocks :)
do you know when youre coming?
I think 20th September
nice!
Is that Spring? Have I avoided being melted for once...

Villenueve... and Durango. This is never going to work.
It's Sidepodgameaddictiontime

:D
I like how the track doesn't completely load..
it's okay for me. i suck at it though.
Maybe its a Firefox issue
I like not having any plans on a Saturday, for once I can get stuff done. :)
Not sure if folks have seen this but autsport are reporting the full dialogue between Chalie Whiting and Ferrari
"13:31:05 The overtaking move takes place at Club and after one second Rivola calls Whiting, who replies after 11 seconds. Rivola asks: 'Have you seen the pass? In our opinion there was no room to overtake.'
26 secs after the pass, Whiting asks to be given time to watch the TV footage.
13:33 Ferrari makes a second radio call - 1m55s after the pass. Alonso has completed another lap plus one sector, and is behind Nico Rosberg and Jaime Alguersuari, while Kubica drops further back.
Whiting tells Ferrari that the stewards think Alonso could give the position back. Rivola asks: 'Is this the decision?'
Whiting replies: 'No, but that's how we see it.'
Rivola informs the team while Rosberg overtakes Alguersuari. On the GPS screen that shows the position of the cars, Ferrari sees Kubica dropping further back. Meanwhile, Alonso overtakes Alguersuari at Turn 2.
13:33:22 Ferrari makes a third radio call.
Rivola tells Whiting: 'Alonso doesn't have only Kubica behind. He would have to concede two positions now.'
While they discuss the matter Kubica is overtaken by Barrichello so Alonso would have to now give up three positions.
Whiting replies: 'We have given you the chance to do it or not. Things being this way, the stewards will hear the drivers at the end of the race, but I understand your position.'
13:35:30 Kubica stops so Alonso can no longer give the position back.
13:45:31 The stewards investigate the Alonso/Kubica incident. The monitors then display 'car number 8 under investigation', 14m26s after the pass.
13:46:26 Just 55 seconds later the stewards decide that Alonso should have a drive-through penalty."
Two thinks strike me first Ferrari were taking too much of a gamble that there would not be no penalty or if it were it would be relatively light.
Second after saying it would be reviewed after the race (if true) then it is hugely unfair to award a drive through during the race.
interesting point. we have been calling for less decisions after a race though. it would've hurt alonso less though.
Just had a nice walk around town. Couldn't find the light fitting I needed. Apparently you have to buy the whole ceiling thing, not just the screwy-in bit that holds the shade in place... I didn't want to have to fit the whole thing..
I love that we have so many bakeries - here is my lunch http://twitpic.com/264u5a
okay... now i'm hungry.
For the Doctor Who fans :)

IndyCar's in Toronto this week, PlanetIRL are there:
http://twitpic.com/264n9g
I do not like post race decisions either, but if say one thing you should continue with it that's my only point.
Personal view is the driver needs to be advised by the team. Many people said Fernando should have given the position back immediately - viz it is his call. I disagree in the sense the team should tell him to have given it back. Its a team sport and team responsibility, you win or lose as a team - Ferrari are doing a lot of losing lately and some of it is their own doing.
two layers of fencing? is that a media spot?
agreed. i still think kubica was out of position and overambitious, but fernando should have conceded immediately.
It could be, they've got accreditation for the media centre. There is a public area there too though.
looks half finished.
This is the view from the turn 3 camera on the live streaming (practice just ended). They will have been just offscreen to the left on the inside.
http://drop.io/toomuchracing/asset/toronto3-jpg
did you spot them?
Qualifying is at 5.50pm UK.
I saw a group of people but the camera panned to low and too fast..
Totally my point - but if I were a team manger I would not want my driver conceding positions that in hindsight should not of been conceded. Ferrari needed to make the call and it could have been done with 20 secs of Alonso's overtake. I think most teams would have done this.
most drivers would have done it first, i reckon.
yup I think so
You do run a risk of conceding when you need not e.g. Lewis with Jarno at Australia under the safety car. The fact that Jenson at the finish of Silverstone had no idea Webber reflects both single-mindedness and that they actually have no idea of the big picture - hence the need for communication with the team.
I do NOT buy Ferrari's asking Whiting's view; FIA and its Stewards need either more technology or responsibility before these options sought. Sure NASCAR it happens but the racing is better organised, but this does not mean better racing.
meant Webber won!
Hello everyone! i'm home :(
Hi lou, hope you had a great time
twas lovely. i think other than the views i enjoyed the freedom of just being on holiday with my friends and being able to decide things for ourselves...no parents. been home just under half an hour and i'm already struggling to cope with mum's nagging. bring on uni :)
I was the same when I was waiting to leave home. You do miss them later in life ;)
Hello
it's strange how i'm now wanting to get out, 6 months ago the thought of leaving home scared me.
It's amazing what finishing school does for making you want to get out & be yourself. It's great to go to uni because you can be yourself in an education environment with people to support you if you need it. I would have been really scared to have just moved away without the security of going onto a campus.
i've always been a home person who used to get very homesick at the thought of leaving.. or even going on holiday. now i just want to go travel and have fun... strange how experiences can change you for the better.
think of it as preparation for being married.
#sorrylukeh
#sorrychristine
How many Milky bars have you got on standby for that comment?
i shoulda thought that one through....
#sorrymum
#sorryworld
are you suggesting Lukeh would nag me?
:D hehe
nooooooo.
Holler!!
Perhaps we should leave this conversation there before the hole you're digging gets any deeper ;)
haha.
hello!
I'm guessing Amy is sleeping right now?
ahem... changing the subject...
oh look a new factbyte factbox page: http://sidepodcast.com/factbytefactbox/
Wondered who was returning to London after #Spa
Think of all that money wasted on digging the Chunnel when all you needed was Mr. C's hole digging service...
Bassano, now I have my House DVDs, which is your favourite episode from Seasons 1 - 5? I'm going to watch them in order but want to watch some really good ones first. I've already chosen Son of a Coma Guy from Season 3 and Don't Ever Change from Season 4.
ooooo!!! :)
'ello
:) :)
I installed Chrome earlier so I'm set for next week
Should this replace http://bleep.sidepodcast.com/fbfb/ on my bookmarks?
shhhhhh.... she's back
Wow, really not sure
I seem to remember the first few episode from 4 being really funny
I heard six is back in Sep, that right?
Amy and Pamela are only going to Brussels and Emma and me would like to take their seats from their (or depending on the size of the luggage from Spa)
#Confidential
Hmmmmm.
No, Six was last season, season 7 is in September
No problem
[*who's Emma?*]
there's a link to that url at the bottom of the page, it's still useful because you can make it really small to fit on the screen. up to you really.
there's a link to the new page in the drop-down "more" navigation too.
I'm with relatives next weekend so will not be live commenting, will miss Giggles Radio & it's Doctor Who at the proms :(
Ah, ok
[Two more months :D]
Funny how Lou is taking about University and I just happen to be going to Cambridge later on today...
Hi Christine!
ah i love Cambridge. wouldn't like to go to the uni though..
*runs*
Looks like someone's destined for the Naughty Chair again !.....
Steve Jobs, from yesterday's press conference:
We haven't worked out a way around the laws of physics... yet
:D
and September is also when Season 6 is out on DVD. I missed the end of Season 6 (although I know what happens). Will be interesting to see how they take it forward.
Great, thanks
!!
Last episode?
Do you want it?
Amy and my (lj-)friend
Am I having a bad communication day? :)
(lj-) ?
I missed from the break onwards as I had to cut back my cable package. I can wait for the DVD to come out. I've seen the important bits on You Tube. I really want to see The Down Low (when Wilson proposes to House). Also, make sure you are following Omar Epps on Twitter, he's tweeting photos from the set.
I believe that would be live journal
That was funny
I think I saw a RT from you, I will do
Ok, cheers
[don't know what that is either but it's all getting a bit html now ;)]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LiveJournal
So this is an Anechoic Chamber. Well, I was wondering
Nooooo!
Now I'm gonna have to click it
[takes deep breath]
Phew, luckily, I'm still blissfully ignorant on that one! :)
Evening guys
ooooooooh dear
A'wight
Evening Lukeh
hello
stop brining it up!
hehe
Yay, I'm being given a rubber baby buggy bumper for free for my phone
I want Mr C to talk about it on a podcast :)
:)
no!
no!
Mr C, did you see my comment the other day about several failed guest post attempts? :(
bugger, no. are you submitting via the form: http://sidepodcast.com/about/writing-a-guest-post/
No, not submitting. Compiling
Also, since the BBC Live Tracker I don't know how valid the concept is
[I haven't tried it, it's Flash]
ahh, the ipad post? i may have long given up hope on that one chap.
not as good. the detail is to low-fi. and you can't zoom.
My microwave has decided it no longer wishes to heat things up. Instead of my dinner arriving in 5 mins I now have 2 pans on the go. Loads more washing up and much less energy efficient
I'm not surprised :)
I may take another stab at it at some point but if anyone wants to, feel free
IndyCar qualifying from the Toronto street course is live now
http://racecontrol.indycar.com/player.php?type=false
But it is free and still highly usefull...
Hey lovely people.
True
Hey RG
I really liked it last week
Hi there
absolutely.
More than the app or just cos it's free?
It's just visual right, no sector times or gaps
if you have the ipad app, it's almost completely irrelevant. however, if you don't it's a useful thing to have access too.
It is just a map showing where everyone is relative to each other. I don't have the app so for me it's great to have it in conjunction with live timing, comments, fbfb etc. I don't think it's for use on it's own, just to supplement the coverage.
it's like a blog just secret
Steve Jobs says he loves me & Giggles*
How sweet
*kinda
Sounds great
I just wish the BBC would move towards html5
I do not wish to nag mr C, but why can not Giggles and him produce Christine's ultimate nightmare, namely a completely live and unscripted podcast?
Think of it as a never to be intended comedy show.....
Have you got a stand or the dock?
Apparently, IKEA have a small, wooden easel for under a fiver
or apple towards flash
Never gonna happen now
They've taken a stance
It's not very good on Android, so I've read
BA have launched an app for their executive card holders where they can present a barcode on their phone as their boarding pass
Nice!
I'm lovin' the The iPhone Antenna Song
Sorry, this one

evening folks
Group 1 advancing: Power, Franchitti, Wilson, Castroneves, Patrick, Kanaan
Group 2 on track and Tracy keeps doing it wrong
Hi Leigh
How's tricks?
HI
hello :)
Hello mate.
hi all,
bit tired - just out of bed and watching IndyCar qualifying
I'm rediscovering my 90's love for Catatonia
Love for Catatonia or Cerys Matthews???
Oh, lord no
Catatonia, or more specifically - their music :)
Don't Need The Sunshine - from International Velvet
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsSl7cKQuKk
I love the Toronto Indy - oi Hermann, this is how you design a street circuit!!
I just read that Villeneuve's F1 project is with Durango - has Jacques lost his mind? Does he not know anything about Durango....?
he used to driver for them. apparently.
I was wondering this myself.
In 2004.
Their record in the last decade has been far from stellar though - I'm still about what they did to Colletti at Spa last year
And http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTBPnPgvBFo&feature=related
Goldfish and Paracetamol
Yes.... in Speedcar
Villeneuve is starting to remind me of Kerry Katona
Clinging onto fame with his fingernails
He'll do Iceland adverts next
IndyCar Group 2 top six advancing: Dixon 9, Hunter-Reay 37, Briscoe 6, Andretti 26, Tagliani 77, Matos 2
I still listen to them from time to time, not often though
I'm going to go for a shock pole for RHR
Yay for Ryan.
noooooooooo
can it be worse than HRT though? i'm assuming two places are now up for grabs next year.
...Hunter-Reay, just realised there are two of them in that list.
:) :)
My friend was asking which song/band had the Luca Brasi [The Godfather] line the other day
I said Sleeper & Catatonia both namechecked him
And now I am updating my iTunes library
Sending drivers out in damaged cars is worse in my eyes
Never seen it. Tried to once.
Wilson for me
We once had our colleagues in Cardiff translate the song International Velvet song for us from Welsh :)
The "everyday, when I wake up - I thank the lord I'm Welsh" song
Justin is dynamite out there
notFranck spun his car, but still qualified well: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/85337
but then they let nick wirth design front wings again this season.
Booooo.
(ba dum tisch)
Well Pat, I think you might be right - Wilson certainly has the advantage for the Fast 6
Hope so!
Through: Wilson, Castroneves, Franchitti, Power, Dixon, Hunter-Reay
I think my fave tweet of the weekend [after the missing cat poster saga] is from
Your_Gran:
I need to get a new key cut. That man in the high Street must be good, his shop is lined with trophies.

oooh.

hello
Hi, Alison :)
Hola Alison
I've discovered that Chilean rap is way too cool for school
Hulllo
I'm enjoying my ignorance :)
Wow, Randy Bernard being straight to the point about Milka Duno
Wow, Randy Bernard being straight to the point about Milka Duno {Comment #200}
What point would that be? All I know about that qualifying session is Justin Wilson did rather well...
Oh man, you are so missing out. She's wicked!
Ana Tijoux
http://www.you…m/watch?v=yiQ7S38nKog
Bernard is being interviewed on indycar.com right now and was asked "why is Milka Duno still in the series?" and basically said "...this is not a rich guys club, these are supposed to be some of the best drivers in the world and she's not good enough..."

I take it Milka Duno is still being rather slow. Not good news for her.
She wasn't allowed to qualify today due to here "pace"

Whoops! That sounds like a hint is being dropped. What are the chances of her taking it?
She wasn't allowed to qualify at Long Beach either - I think her license may be quietly withdrawn during the off-season, but not yet.

I take that as a "she won't take the hint but the governing body will"...
Kind of - it's more that her sponsorship is keeping Alex Lloyd's Dale Coyne seat afloat too. With some sense, Coyne will be looking for a way to shore the sponsorship loss, but for Duno to be pulled mid-season could potentially tank the team
Dank just tweeted this rather odd Clunk-Click ... err, song. With Jimmy Saville :)
http://youtu.be/CiG9jXzejEY
i love it!
Just had a message through from some lovely people we met at the Joe evening at Silverstone. It seems only right to share this bit:
It was great to meet you at Joe's evening last week....and to see Mr. C for ourselves, don't know why he remains incognito as he is very good looking
Hmm. He'll be impossible after this.
♥ ♥
Awww.... how sweet
:)
Mr C - making invisibilty attractive.
Nick is refusing to apply for his visa!!!
Mastercard instead?
Oh wait...
For where?
:)
Australia :) It's really easy, you just type in your passport number basically and they email it to you. It's why it's annoying that he won't do it!!
In his defence, that's a lot for work for Nick
Was he born this contrary?
When are you going?
:)
To Brisbane in September
ohhh Lukeh.. you've sent your passport stuff away yes?
Yup it's all sent
I like Bris
Full of bats at night too
I'm excited about getting different stamps in my passport :D
good cause apparently dad ranf the passport people last week and they told me i couldn't get mine done for late august cause they had a backlog of them or something and they were taking months to clear. luckily my passport will be alright to travel.. (just)
There was a huge backpackers in the CBD with a wild bar in the basement
It was very Coyote Ugly
They had a free drink on "No Undies Monday"
:D
Last time I travelled through the tunnel, I don't think they even checked
That was a long time ago
Technically, you can travel to Europe with simple ID like a driving licence
We're going to go and stay with Nick's dad and they're a bit out of Brisbane, I'm sure it won't be the crazy life... I think his step sister will let us stay at her house while she's on holiday though.
They checked when I went through two years ago. There's a Frenchman in a booth on the Kent side who asks for everyone in the car to hand them over.
If you can make it up to Noosa, it's beautiful there
Can I give him some chilli chese instead? ;)
i rang them again today and since i come back about a month before it runs out it should be okay. it's just a pain cause the photo looks nothing like me, i almost like the new one.
My mum gave me the ultimate insult last week
'You look better in your photo'
!!
Just a few feet before that the UK border people do random spot checks, pulling cars to one side to ask questions. And on the way back.
they always check them (always have for me).. we used to go to france alot.. not so much recently, but security is much much tighter than it was when i was younger.
It'll be fine for Europe. Places further afield won't let you in with less than 3/6 months on your passport.
ooh dear
:D
They'll turn us around!
I'm considering a wine stop on the way back if there's time
[probably won't be]
I'll do it on the way back then ;)
I thought about that too. I think beer prices have equalised a bit but I'm sure we can make room for wine. Must ask Dad if the place we went to before is still there, and where it is
I might run off there if it all gets too much!! :P
hehe everytime i tend to go over we always get stopped and told to unpack the car so they can check everything. it's very funny :)
btw this is partly why I booked 3pm not 2pm :D
we can be up to 2hrs late remember..
I always knew you were a smart cookie :)
Good idea
The National Park is beautiful
I remember crossing the german border into switzerland in a London to Naples roadtrip
I swear I heard them quietly grunt as they waved us through without checking a single document
:D
hehe
They've completely destroyed my parents' car before when I was a small child. Like ripped out carpets, cut into seat cushions etc. Ridiculous behaviour... Obviously there was nothing in there to find.
It was in a magnetic box under the exhaust - smart ;)
ah we've never had that before, that's annoying.
Is it me, or is James Allen doing a Lee MacKenzie lately?
"Watch me do this, hear me do that"
Quiet annoying
Hopefully we won't be back too late for the others to get where they need to go.
If not, we'll have to start on the wine ;)
At least it's not the Sunday... I'm sure people will be fine.
i'm sure it'll be alright, Eurotunnel is only like.. 25mins.
Biffy Clyro's Umbrella cover is brilliant
Yeah :) Love it.
Just got their new album, will listen later on
I'm having an retrospective day
We get an hour back as well with the time difference, I keep forgetting that. I was just thinking of Lukeh, Chris and Gavin.
I have a 3hr drive home after London but its an easy run.
Their earlier stuff is good. I went off them after Puzzle.
Ping: http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/07/17/g-is-for-gretna-green/
I find it worrying that I'll have flown 36 000 miles this year :S That's a shocking distance!
Lukeh can always stay at mine or my aunts or something, we'll figure something out ;) no worries.
Ooh, speaking of long drives, I drove past there when I moved to Scotland (now that was a long day) (err, and again when I moved back). Didn't have time to pop in and see it.
Saw them on the T in the Park repeat on tv last night
You didn't miss much!
How's your carbon footprint?
Ah :)
True story! If you're up for a laugh watching people get married is hysterical. Most of them are in a right state....
Infinity Land, The Vertigo of Bliss or Blackened Sky?
I'm in a discovery mood
I might choose to spread it over my life so far. Before this January I'd been on 5 very short haul flights :D It is awful though, I can't actually believe it because I hate flying! That's why I'd never been anywhere....
No way, that's brilliant
There's a lot of world out there to see
36 000!!!!!!
Well done
Good thinking :-)
How'd you work it out
Is there a handy airmiles site?
I refuse to feel guilty anyways. Nick worked it out for me once and he's flown something ridiculous like 600 times...
If you've got time all of them, they were one of my top bands for a long time :D
Blackened Sky is nice, bit dark in places and some sweet stuff in there too. I loved it at first, bit over it now.
Vertigo is okay but the weakest I think, I tend to change my mind about it quite a lot though because there are a few really good ones on there.
Infinity Land is the more complete album from start to finish. Track two is good for clearing any anger ;) I like how some songs start off with a loud heavy intro then turn into something nice and melodic.
They were released in this order one every year for three years, so you can sort of follow the progression and I like that.
There is
http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0759496.html
now we've talked about using nick as a benchmark...
Cool, cheers
:D
Prior to January I'd flown a total of 2200 miles and since then it's been 36000!! I can't get over how far that is!
I think I've only done about 10,000 in the last year :(
I must go to Argentina this year to remedy that :)
I'm excited about getting a nice coloured frequent flier card :) Mainly I want more stamps in my passport though. I've decided they're fun.
Go and see Nick, he needs cheering up!
Are you stopping inBangkok for a couple of days?
You really should
I tried
He has calendar management issues ;)
Radio Le Mans has actually complimented F1 on something. Put it in the calender!
I can tell you when he's free if you want! He won't take any time off work though. Else he won't for me...
:)
Argentina first
Maybe early next year
Am gonna have more chats with Guille at Spa about stuff to do there

Try and convince them thats someone else and your McLaren is miles in the distance...
I'll just say it was Chris Goodwin who drove it. He's always driving Mclarens at Goodwood and I still don't now who he is that much...
Yep!
is he going to become your 'Sam Bird' character?

Hey Bassano, finished the new Angry Brids yet?
Sadly, not started
Music has distracted me, so at least it's worthwhile :)
Evening
When we were backpacking on a sabbatical, we intentionally came back from NZ via LA so we could circumnavigate the globe :D
Are you iPhone4'ing any time soon Andy?
And, hi btw
I was impressed anyways. It does seem like a long way in 9 months though right?
Definitely. Once you hit 5 figures in that time, you're doing alright if you haven't been to Oz
I'm concerned about letting nick go to Australia in case he decides he likes it there better.
no chance, their grand prix offers a hint of excitement.
He does seem to be running away from you. Have you considered that you are a bunny boiler?
Nah, he left there to come back this way
Steven!!! :O
True story
I am only asking in case it is a possibility. I am not saying you are. Only that Nick may think you are.
Yeah, that'll get you out of that hole
Steven, can I introduce you to some Chilean rap, it's rather good?
#LongShot
I thought it might. There has to be a reason that every time he sees Alison he moves a continent further away. If Alison goes to Aus he will need to become an astronaut
One time!!!!
I am sure it is fabulous ;) Introduce away
You met him in London he moved to Asia. You go to Asia and he is going to Australia.
Two times

I really will stop plugging it now, Giggles will be jealous
We're going together on holiday! I don't think that counts :P
That's probably different then. There are a lot of rabbits in Aus so be careful
They're going to Brisbane, I think the bats have eaten the rabbits ;)
I think I can probably avoid boiling bunnies.
Eurgh. I hate bats. I might be back at my very successful stay indoors philosophy.
I can't see myself rushing to buy her album
:(
Shame. Bat boiler just doesn't have the same ring to it
Around the CBD at night, it's crawling with em
In the sticks it might be a bit 30 Days Of Night
I love that film, it's fine :P I'd definitely advocate staying indoors (and very very quiet) under those circumstances.
Yeah it's a good'un, in a not-twilight way
I've not had pizza in aaaages
*chops chillis*
Was thinking of watching Green Zone, anyone seen it yet?
Never heard of it
Yah I watched it on my most recent aeroplane journey :) It was okay as mindless entertainment.
Paul Greengrass of United 93 and the last two Bourne films, fame
His latest collaboration with Matt Damon
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0947810/
I was quite disappointed overall though because I love the Bourne films and this looked quite like that. It's not got a great plot though.
Perfect
I think we talked about this in the week
I can't wait to see Inception soon
would now be a good time to mention it watched UP last monday...?
I'm watching DTM at EuroSpeedway, that's mindless entertainment.
yay!!!
:D :D :D
You loved it??
Yay
Did you cry in the first 15 mins?
me too, also Toy story 3 and Scott Pilgrim :)
erm... no.
I'm watching DTM at EuroSpeedway, that's mindless entertainment. {}
The LMS race at Portimao (which is happening as I type) is also providing pretty mindless entertainment. Especially the GT2s, which all (except one at the front which we'll pretend isn't there) seem to have developed a liking for trading paint...
really not. my least favourite pixar movie (although i've yet to see either walle or the rat one)
Madness!
Nick sent me this weird song thing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVxe5NIABsI&feature=player_embedded#!
Wall*E is still me fave
I wasn't expecting to like Ratatouille but it was good
Thank you for watching it so I don't have to. Taking one for the team :)
didn't get any of it sadly. it left me a bit confused.
i thought you were wrong and the comments must be correct. but... erm... no.
I prefered flushed away to ratataototlueile but both are very good
What has he been drinking? That is weird.
About what? Do you have a heart of stone...
:D
Is that football talk?
But. But.... Taliking dogs!
Speaking of football (despite two of the worst commentators of all time), Spurs appear to have Lewis Hamilton playing for them.
Is it??? GO ME!
Yeah it is weird. It was part of a big article about creativity in music which disinterested me http://kotaku.com/5586721/experience-points-theft-and-recreation
The Kool Aid, I think ;)
About what? Do you have a heart of stone... :cry: {Comment #384}
The last time I cried at a film was Beethoven's 2nd when I was little. And that was because I was crying with boredom...
How?
:D
right. by why? and if you can invent a talking dog, is a rare bird really that important. i laughed at the lost GPS device, that really was it.
I think I can probably survive without reading it
The last time I cried was last week on the aeroplane home watching how to train your dragon. I'm a big baby.
Andros Townsend: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/uploads/assets/240x359/academy/players/profile_pics/2008_09/andros_townsend_2008.jpg
I had something similar when I stumbled across Legally Blonde a few weeks ago on TV. So incredibly bad
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
:)
Pretty close
Woah!
I wanna see that too
maybe, but i quite liked the film with snoop dog being a doorman.
If I told you that was the third time I'd seen it would you think it was weird... That's how much I love it. There were tears everytime.
I saw that. Absolute rubbish
No
Nick saw it with me in the cinema and he thought it was better than up.
It's on my official list
That's not a good advert: recommended by Nick ;)
The trouble is Arsenal always try and walk it.
oooh remind me on wednesday i still have your UP dvd... i'll be watching it again i think...
why not? did you not love the Bird?!
Poor boy! He's pretending to be all grown up. He's stopped smoking and drinking heavily and wants to cook for himself....
Got to be points for this. Karun has spent his weekend off helping two young Indian drivers.
http://twitter.com/karunchandhok/status/18767183418
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uoM6p7ueao
shouldn't he loose points for being a complete racing geek?
Nick: take the plastic OFF the pizza first!
shouldn't he loose points for being a complete racing geek? {Comment #417}
Geeks are cool!
(she says, hopefully)
Someone bought the url
http://www.bluffball.co.uk/
I was looking for a cookbook I used to have as a child to give him but I couldn't find it :(
THat's a bad thing? He is out helping other drivers for no gain to himself. He is not running a team and trying to build a business. On his free weekend he goes to a track and helps some young drivers
:D
He can't survive on chocolate rice krispies cakes!
Red Bull muffins?
coooool!! *hopes he'll be at the F2 tomorrow*
I still rate the Incredibles as the best. WALL-E is very good too.
cars is the best for me.
are you going? you have to seek him out.
Flushed Away isn't a Pixar film
He tweeted earlier that he would be at two diffet tracks on Saturday and Sunday.
I am also partial to a bit of Monsters Inc. We should have a Pixar Cup.
Sorry, he said he's going to Rockingham tomorrow for F3.. there's a tweet somewhere..
YES!
ahhh well. :) i'll just look out for Andy Hone instead
He was at F2 today and is going to Rockingham for the F3 tomorrow
http://twitter.com/karunchandhok/status/18710061662
Definitely!
yep... well we're planning to, i needs photography practice.
[finally gets the chance to look]
Seen it before, it's freakin' brilliant
Go Nick!
i forgot to mention. despite your awesome photo post, there was no heikki, so no heikki homepage :(
ohhhh sorry! silly me. i forgot, it was completed very quickly as i headed out of the door. bad times.
tis ok. was a great post.
on the day it was published my flickr site got just under 2,000 hits... so i think i should thank you.... alot.
This is how much I love the bird.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/52151849@N07/4802395777/
I also have the dog but I can't find any pics :(
we didn't do nuffink. but yay.
Slightly later than normal, a non-F1 blog post:
Ping -->
Something for the Weekend: Clor "Outlines"
http://easymusicfordifficultears.blogspot.com/2010/07/something-for-weekend-clor-outlines.html
erm... no. really the whole experienced left me confused and pining for more lightning mcqueen.
:)
Lou, have you been following Lady Laney's Guess The Film series?
It's great
ask lukeh, but i may have eeeeeeked alot when i first saw it.
:) Cool
But that film has a Ferrari called Micheal Schumacher in it :p
yep! :) i (heart) Lady Laney's work.
wow
i don't know who that is but okay.
Same
Does she have a day job too?
i'm not sure.. i think so?
And he doesn't manage to ruin it, so it must be a great film.
http://collegecars.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/lightning-mcqueen-disney-pixar-cars-772510_1700_1100.jpg
He stands unaided!!
oh. i should maybe watch that film...
Hehe
I was looking at the a couple of days ago whe I saw her tweet about it. I looked at some of her racing pics too and she has a great one of a Red Bull with circular light effects on it. Hard to describe but a great pic
you watched UP but not that? priorities woman!
It's Pixar, so yes. Yes you should! :)
How did you miss Film Watch? http://sidepodcast.com/2009/11/14/sidepodfilmclub-cars/
It's by no means their best
#SorryMrC
no longer true though. sadly.
i only watched UP cause i saw it with Lukeh one evening... i never got to see it at the cinema :(
i need to watch walle too :(
i think real life got in the way :(
Yes. You must watch both. More than once.
This is not sad face though. This is happy face - you still have the great experience of watching a film for the first time ahead of you. Good times.
Definitely, Edgar Wright is a genius
http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/universal/scottpilgrimvstheworld/
:D hehe true.
i will try :D
Meh, tomayto tomahto
I''m reading the books before the film, really enjoying them and the film trailers look immense!
I really wanna see Rango, voiced by Johnny Depp but it's not out for aaaages
http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/paramount/rango/
Johnny Depp is in a pixar film? that might be too much awesome for one film.
It's not Pixar but it looks awesome
Check the trailer
BOOM
Epic combination much!
Steven, have you ever seen an anechoic chamber?
Looks cool
Yes. I saw that one last night but I have seen loads in the past. I refuse to believe that one works with the flat walkway and steps though.
Right - am off to get some tea and stuff.
Back later probably with more blogging
:)
Maybe the guys who made the moon landing videos did it for Apple ;)
Is all those pointy things soft and spongey or hard? It looks like a messed up Super Mario level
I'm trying very hard not to scream in excitement because the car I'm supporting in LMS (#95) has just passed the GT2 championship leader in a very exciting way to get 2nd in class :D
I doubt it. Apollo would have been way more shiny if Steve Jobs designed it. And I am sure some of the astronauts were left handed
Hows Mr Rob Bell getting along?
Of course it works. You're not going to make the floor all spiky are you?
:)
Soft and spongey.
I don't see the point in everything being spiky and having a huge flat floor and steps. THe walkway doesn't need to be anything like as wide and could be withdrawn once the person gets in there
What they really need is Dom Joly
What is this, X-Men? ;)
Hows Mr Rob Bell getting along?
Rob Bell is 4th in GT2.
With what they have spent on that anechoic chamber it seems the obvious thing to do. I don't understand having a huge flat surface in there
No one looks cool standing on spongey spikes, not even Jonny Ives
I guess it's a trade-off between efficiency of the room and the ease of getting in and out of it. Remember this is just one of the multiple rooms mentioned on Friday.
The Vilander/Alesi/Fisichella AF Corse has come 2nd in GT2 :D
Funnily enough I had the exact same thought.
I suppose thats alright.
Excellent
I love how the phone is held onto the rod by an elastic band!
The spent $100 million on these labs and they use elastic bands!!
http://www.apple.com/antenna/testing-lab.html
From 58s
ooooh we went past both Frome and Woking today.... it's silly how excited i can get at a sign..
His platform could be flatish but the walkway too it could be retractable
:D :D
i think google should come back with:
that's not an anechoic chamber, this is an...
i suppose i should figure out what to put in the daily tomorrow, anyone got anything they would like me to mention?
:D
M&S anechoic chamber
I'm slow, that's what you meant isn't it
:)
My newfound love of S.American female rappers?
it isn't, but it works just as well.
That would be funny. Our anechoic chamber is 0.3dB better than Apple's
Hehe
fbfb, has a new page and christine/rg have been working real hard on the wiki.
ahh awesome. i had missed the wiki thing, thanking you :)
pat's mega IRL
essaypost - http://toomuchracing.com/2010/07/17/indycar-a-new-hope-3/I have a blog post I wrote last night, I've mentioned it a bit already though and it isn't F1
http://toomuchracing.com/2010/07/17/indycar-a-new-hope-3/
ah, cheers :)
Giggles Raadio U show
I tried to get rid of the '3' in the URL but it wouldn't let me. Stupid power fluctuations causing multiple drafts to be saved.
he's on holiday (again) :(
He says it'll be next week
Where's he now?
He's worse than Judith Chalmers
Christine being attacked by a washing machine is worth a mention. Luckily she fought it off
http://twitter.com/mrschristine/status/18789396039
ahh, i thought it was your third post using that title. wordpress fail.
I forgot. He gets so many holidays he could be a teacher
My fault, I published before trying to remove it and that locked it in
It would be very wrong to keep calling him Judith when he gets back ;)
he'll be on strike next
very
:D
Oh my God, they are daring to remake John Carpenter's The Thing
Is nothing sacred anymore?
*weeps*
lx5 is coming: http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/17/panasonic-lumix-lx5-outed-by-tech-support-page-improvements-are/
It seems to be the thing :) in Hollywood just now to remake old films rather than try something new.
Well I've had enough
I'm gonna.. not see it!
It's the only way they will stop. The only thing they are interested in is $$$1
But there are enough stoopid 15 year olds that haven't seen the originals
We're doomed! Doomed I tells ya
http://www.slashgear.com/inside-apples-antenna-design-and-test-labs-1794272/
ooooo!!! the lumix series is very awesome. :)
i know very little about F2 and WTC... tomorrow is going to be rather awesome.. although very... erm tiring after today i think.
It's not that new, just more prevalant.
And lazily done
Do a decent job at least
And wait at least 40 years
Could you please get photos of Tom Coronel's car, I'm not sure what livery he has this year but he always has teeth on the front and 'Eat My Dust' on the back :)
hehehehe! okay! i'll look out for it :D
WTCC can be reasonably fun. 2 quick-ish races not that far apart.
I heard via Twitter that today's F2 was boring, hopefully tomorrow's is better.
His twin brother Tim is standing in for someone this weekend too
F2 is spec cars and young drivers so should be reasonably spectacular if you can find the right spot. Assuming they are using the Brands Indy circuit I would suggest Paddock Hill Bend or Druids which are the first two corners after the start line
They are on the GP track
Shame. Great track for the drivers and to watch on TV but not as many laps for the fans and budding photographers.
Did you get a media pass Lou?
DTM is on the Indy layout. It always strikes me as the wrong way round, surely the smaller touring cars should be on the shorter track.
DT is far more suited to the GP track
i love Druids, so i'll probably head there first for a bit to help get settled.. but yes they're using the indy circuit i believe
for real? or is that like heikki's twin brother?
#nothere
Finally watching last week's Rally of Bulgaria, but........ SS7 was cancelled because it was too popular? Fair enough
orrr... not.. lol maybe going to a track event the day after a holiday was a bad idea. i have lots of reading to do this evening to catch up with everything.
It is perfectly real. The two of them were good single seater drivers when they were younger
Too many people can make it unsafe. Happens occasionally
sadly not. although tbh i didn't even try, time kinda... passed to quickly for me to even think about it.
Yeah. I was reasonably sure but checked Wiki anyway and they are. I didn't know this but Tim's middle name is Alfa and Tom's is Romeo... it sounds like a wiki joke though so who knows :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Coronel
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Coronel
I know that, but I would have expected a little better organisation to prevent such a problem
It happens from time to time especially in Portugal or Argentina. Overcrowding and people straying too close the the racing line
i hope it isn't :)
Heikki has a twin brother? Don't tell Amy ;)
Shame
flav said he saw him driving in melbourne. some say he's been driving since.
next time :) I'm very excited that two photographers i know of are gonna be there... must.track.them.down... need to say hello. :)
Some say...
Hmm. So The Stig is Heikki's brother?
There father was a racer so it is possible that he gave them those names
ooo speaking of Amy...
here is the photo i got of Catherine i promised i'd upload for her
http://twitpic.com/269aec
it's not a very good photo... #sorryamy
Sometimes on stage just gets swamped with people and there is no option but to cancel it
Suppose
You will probably be the only person there stalking photographers.
Why are chocolate raisins so addictive?
But that hat is worth it
It cracks me up everytime
What is it with these Finns?
noooo not stalking, just keeping an eye out for them. I've met Tom before so i'm sure he'll be okay with my weirdness... I just hope I don't totally scare Andy Hone.
2 major food groups in one?
Maybe. Chocolate is definitely the most important food group
i just realised Ant is following Mr C on twitter.
mr c please come to Spa, it's going to be the only way i'll meet ant! :)
huh?
awe-some!
Crofty obviously told him what a legend we have here
https://twitter.com/antdavidson/following
he even followed you before he followed Jenson... Mr C you're famous.
i think it's funny Ant is following Mr C but Mr C isn't following Ant :D
Hehehe
I wish I was more tired. I have to get up for work in 6 hours :S
i don't follow. i list.
in my defence you will find Ant listed in at least two categories on this page: http://sidepodcast.com/twitter
but does Ant know about lists? he may just see that you're following Crofty and not him ;) he may get jealous :P
wow
oh fine!
Amy disease is catching
He's only following 13 people
Dammit, menu screen on my Flight of the Conchords DVD isn't working, I can't load anything. Stupid thing.
:P
i am now following the awesome ant davidson (even though i only use twitter lists and it makes no odds ;) )
Can you hit play, it might start from the first one. Then you can track fwd
Alternatively, rip it with handbrake
..except for the fact that people check followers and not lists.
It makes Lou happy
:D we wouldn't want him to feel left out! :)
Don't tell Ant that, it'll blow his new-to-twitter mind!
it's the simple things..
:)
He has been listed 182 times already
No, I go to the menu screen to go to the first episode and when I'm at the choice of episodes it crashes.
Return it or rip it, if you can
fair point.
It was a present and I don't know how to rip it.
I suppose I could try watching on PC.
Ant the circuit designer
http://twitter.com/antdavidson/status/18670300399
Handbrake is very easy [if the pc watching doesn't work]
*idea*
Maybe it is on my on-demand BT thing
handbrake.fr
I read that earlier, someone asked him to have a word with Tilke :)
He needs to take Tilke for a drive. Preferably in something with an ejector seat round a track with a low bridge
He he
:D
hehe he never replied though.
Thanks.
At the moment the chief suspect is dead batteries in the remote :)
Ah.
Time for bed i think. Night all.
night
Good night
Yes it is. iptv is rather good.
night!
Does the machine have 'joystick' button?
Or, take the batteries out and warm them up in your hands a little
Night Andy
Bit of mindless tv before sleeps for me too
Later peeps
night!
Night
because it makes mr c happy.... here is the daily (slightly late)
PING: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/07/18/daily-18th-july-2010/
yay!
No it is a cheapo thing
see ya
I like the idea of having somewhere to plan/squee to my hearts content without feeling bad about it :)
