Hey everyone! Welcome to Sunday, I hope you’re all having a lovely day whatever you’re up to. As it’s not a Grand Prix Sunday I thought I’d focus on finding some fun links for you this week. However there is still a tiny bit of f1 news, but I think it’s best we let the expert bring you up to date with that. Speaking of which, you’ve seen the app right? Everyone loves a good app, and this is a rather wonderful one.
Okay, on to some fun and interesting links for you all, lets start off with some random ones then;
• Seeing as it seems to be Harry Potter crazy land here in the UK I wanted to keep up with this trend and share a link with you I’m sure you’ll all love. Harry Potter fan or not. The cast as rock stars.
• Do you consider yourself to be a musical person? Can you play an instrument, or do you just like listening to it? Either way, what an amazing design for a house!
• I’ve found a creative tablet inspired by the iPad, but not as expensive! Although recommended for children I’m pretty sure I could get away with having this on the bus without getting strange looks. What do you think?
• Every woken up in the middle of the night with a brilliant idea that you just want to write down so you don’t forget. Well now you don’t even have to have a piece of paper (or electronic device) near your bed. You just need this. I secretly really want one.
• Talking of cushions I would love to own how about some photography related ones. How wonderful.
• Oh goodness there are more!
• If you’re not into photography cushions, maybe you’ll be interested in keyboard related tea cups. Yep you read that right.
Moving away from cute products and places and onto some arty links;
• Firstly some inspirational words.
• We all love a bit of space here at sidepodcast and I’m sure I’m not alone in never tiring of seeing amazing images of the milky way like this.
• These little pieces of art are wonderful, so beautiful.
• I’m always having strange and peculiar dreams but I’d never considered trying to represent them. What would yours look like, anything like this?
• I can’t let this arty section pass without pointing you all in the direction of the talented Lee Edson, he’s a great motorsport photographer. You can check out his work here.
Right, that’s about it for today, have fun relaxing/watching the golf/cooking.. whatever you’re up to and hopefully we’ll see you in the comments.
finally sunday :)

hello Sunday!
Lots of people are wearing shirts saying which cause theyre running for. I guess I'm running for Nike
hehe!
okay going to watch the rest of Eddie Izzard in bed i think as i'm slowly falling asleep.
night all, Good luck amy!!! :)
Good night
Good luck
night
Hi Sunday. I found headphones, now I don't have to feel selfconcious about waking the old biddy in the flat downstairs. :)
Also I'm ripping a CD I found in a box, from 2000. It says "also available on double-cassette" :D
genius!
cheers for the daily lou.
the guy who got 3rd in the 10k got 3rd in the 5k too. Epic running!
Congratulations on doing it. :)
i might even go back next year :)
:)
uh oh
It's never too early to plan it. ;)
!!
I see a running career starting.......
i saw a lot of people who looked my size doing the half marathon and i started thinking with a whole year to train i could too
amy go on the b of the bang fulton?
half marathon? how hard can it be?
Amy appears to have forgotten to link the medal here.. :)
http://twitpic.com/5rbefx
awe and then sum.
now that is worth doing a run for.
it was also worth it for the free powerade and yogurt at the finish line. Mmm free breakfast. I want to text my mum and tell her i conquered it but for some reason it's the middle of the night in Scotland.
sun comes up in one hour.
not sure if this has been discussed, just spotted it on facebook. idle speculation maybe, but either way, i think lewis has the power to take f1 proper mainstream (although not if he's only going to do three promo days per season):
It took four years, but Nicole and Lewis are engaged
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2015493/Nicole-Scherzinger-Lewis-Hamilton-engaged-claims-The-Pussycat-Dolls-father.html
they're early risers but I don't think they'd be up at 4am :D
I saw a documentary yesterday on James Hunt. In some ways Lewis is the modern JH. If he started smoking marlboros he would be complete
Lou was pondering putting it in the daily but since it's not being reported anywhere else yet she decided against :)
The back of my medal is quite nice too
http://amyfulton.posterous.com/remember-this-moment
ah-ha, didn't realise. tricky call. i assume by the timing of the post that it'll be in today's paper, be interesting to see who picks up on it in the morning.
awesome
Hahaha! Was just reading this as well. It depends on how Nicole does in -Factor USA if there's any shot of this happening. That said, what do you mean by proper mainstream? Surely, F1 is very much a mainstream sport?
*Corrected.
proper mainstream, like, people who don't like cars or racing talk about it over lunch.
And Nicole is on Graham Norton on BBC America right this moment. Sidepodreality.
I think he already has, in this country at least.
oooh, will she mention it?
that would make a welcome change from harry potter films. urgh
nah, people i know who don't like f1, don't talk about lewis. whereas people i know who don't like football still talk about rooney. lewis could be that massive, but may not be his thing.
surely his amazing acting debut in cars 2 will do it. he says 3 lines! yay!
We get old ones, so I think this is from 2 weeks ago.
was it any good (the film)? heard terrible things about it, from people who loved cars.
Family and people at work mention him to me all the time. They obviously know I like F1 but they bring up Lewis first, and bring up F1 with no prompting from me. I don't think that would be true if he wasn't so succesful and popular.. They never really talk about Button.
Ahhh, I get ya now. Well, of the entire F1 grid, maybe even of all the F1 drivers of the past 15 years, Lewis is the one who's been closest to pulling it off. It's there for him if he wants it. Besides, how can it not be his thing if he got an entertainment guy in Simon Fuller as his manager?
i loved it. the plot is quite intense so it's probably too complicated for children, and theres a lot more actual racing so people who aren't into racing would probably hate it. The new Formula car is the best. character. ever.
i agree he's more popular than button. i don't think he's anywhere near, say, beckham yet. but he could be.
good to hear, don't want them to ruin a good thing.
First Pixar movie on Rotten Tomatoes that doesn't have a grade in the 90s, I think. Great eye candy, but that's pretty much it, I think.
I need an F1 driver to start talking like Francesco. He's amazing. They're arrogant enough, so it wouldn't be hard :D
Intense plot? Didn't really look like it in the trailers. It doesn't get released here for another 2 weeks or so. Great that there's more racing, though.
Oh, and that Formula car looks a LOT like this year's Ferrari. Even the tricolore on the rear wing...
I haven't even seen the trailer so I'm not sure how they were pitching it.
The Toy Story short at the start of it is great too.
I'd say that was deliberate, the car is very very Italian :)
They focused on the racing and the car chases/action sequences, mostly.
wonder which came first?
Nicole is in Men in Black 3, if anyone cares.
i reckon the Pixar car came first - animation work on that probably wrapped up last year.
didn't know there was an mib 2?
makes sense. you think ferrari were inspired by it?
ahh ok. the whole spy thing is quite complex. not so much for an adult but i could see kids not following it.
But it has Michael Caine and Eddie Izzard, clearly it's amazing :D
hehe
Apparently that was her first movie and she got very confused 'acting' to 3 pieces of tape. (the quotes are mine)
She came off quite ditzy explaining it.
oh, Eddie. Cool.
Graham just asked Nicole about 'wedding bells', but she evaded the question and said they just had their 3rd anniversary, so maybe this show is realllly old.
yeah! didn't you see it?
they might've been, yeah. just way too similar for there to be no connection.
Yay, well done Amy!!

Go Christine!!!
Awesome! :D
I must get the first one on ibooks tonight!
Had a crazy couple of days, but this will be perfect for this evening :)
It is perfect because I'm not feeling at all well this weekend but who can be miserable with two books out? :)
Who can? Nobody surely!
Maybe you need to pop an episode of Friends on!
You must! It was quite a lot of hard work to get that one on iBooks, but it does look a lot prettier, I must say.
Damon Hill gave Newey and empty glass bottle the other day.
http://www.redbull.com/cs/Satellite/en_INT/Article/Newey-Honoured-for-Engineering-Excellence-021243051157964 how nice of him
Its much, much easier to buy books on there for me, thanks for the the effort :)
awesome!! What a great way to start Sunday :)
Hehe, I was watching an episode the other day and thought to myself: "You know what needs to exist in this world? Friend episode commentary by me and Giggles."
Then I remembered that there are 240 episodes or something, so I shelved the idea until we'nre retired :)
That would be good :)
Apparently the actors got paid like $1,000,000 an episode by the end and so maybe we'd get that much too? Then we could do it and then retire :)
I am free to watch an episode now if you'd like...
I like that idea!
now that Matt from muse has a son called Bing I like to think the rest of the band will have babies all named Friends characters
Miss Chanandler Bong
It is an excellent name. Joey would say: "Woah, short message."
Hm, I would like to but I have a bit of book plugging to do first :)
:)
Ah that's true! It's important to get the word out!
You'll be all, "If you want to receive e-mails about my upcoming book, then please give me money so I can buy a computer."
*hugs*
can i have my wife back now please?
Well she's only on part two of 365 so it might take a while ;)
awwww.
Oart 2 has officially been bought :) that'll be my lunchtime reading this week me thinks and a bit of Sunday lounging too
heheeh!
*hugs lukeh too*
hey hey I've bought part 2 too :)
hugs all round!!
I propose some toast ;)
*huuuuugs*
i'm gonna need some bigger hugs ;)
Right I better go... I have to go and make a pizza...
Is it wrong I find those keyboard related cups absolutely awesome? Best geeky house accessories ever!
Love the milky way photos too. Makes me miss watching brian cox's stuff. *reminds self to get the infinite monkey cage podcast*

Lou: Studio Ghibli alert! The Cat Returns is on Film4 at 3:10
The counterpoint made here is that while Google has access to more info, FB has made more mistakes in handling such data than Google. Not sure how true that is, but it's a point often made.
Hello, everyone.
Hi Bassano
We saw a trailer for a new Studio Ghibli film yesterday at the cinema, Arrierty. Looks and sounds gorgeous as ever with their films, although I still need to watch Howl's Moving Castle, have been meaning to for ages,

Is it safe theses days?
there's a list of game center tags on the wiki, maybe you could create a page for PSN tags too?
I do believe there already is one.

Hello. Bit windy out.
Hey Pat. This weather seems to be sticking around for the next week too. Bring on August :)
Oh wonderful.. :)
Hard work on the golf course, having to fight the wind and the hills and after two weekends off from any exercise at all, fair to say I'm knackered!
Was hoping to get the car bumper fixed at last but stepdad not interested on lying on a wet ground to do it, don't blame him.
Ooh, that sounds tricky! How did you get on? Did you win?
Awful. First 9 holes were okay given the conditions, then by the last loop of 3 holes I'd lost it and couldn't hit anything properly. I thought I could pull it back but went into a bunker instead, lost 3 shots getting out because the sand was wet and compacted, normally I can get out in one shot so no big loss.
With one hole to play we'd both scored worse than we normally do for a full 18, but then I went into the trees and lost interest in finishing up..
At least I had some exercise, it was badly needed. :) :)
And I'm quite enjoying sitting in the warm with a cup of tea watching the professionals finish up their game on BBC1

Hmm, well it's impressive but I think there are some steps not being shown and it's NOT printing
as amy said, not for kids:
@eligp: Took my son to the movies for the first time. After an hour he said he didn't like Cars 2 because they were fighting too much, he's right..
why isn't it printing? it's not an inkjet, sure.
It's milling or moulding, not placing an image on a surface
It's creating the surface!
the description says:
3D printing is a form of additive manufacturing technology where a three dimensional object is created by laying down successive layers of material.
to me that's printing. unless that isn't what it's doing in the video?
So if carbon fibre is manufactured using layers, that's printing?
I'm being pedantic and just a little skeptical I suppose
Some are taking the printing word and using it to make it more accessible though. If someone says to me: Would you like a milling machine in your house that could make tools? I'm going to say no. A printer on the other hand, is instantly more relatable.
erm, no?
Why not?
Which is kind of my point. It think the term 3D Printer is consumer friendly but technically inaccurate
isn't that done by hand with existing materials?
surely the printing bit, is where it prints something? it's not a "3d laying up machine".
It's just the name, though. Not much to be skeptical about with the technology. He made a wrench and everything.
geek.
i still need one.
Yeah, well, I think there were steps we didn't see but I do agree it's an exciting prospect for the future
Video was too long as it was :)
We have such short attention spans :D
So what's the verdict on Google+, just another social network or too early to say?
Not tried it myself but Lukeh has some interesting thoughts http://toata.co.uk/index.php/2011/07/209-google-fuss/
Great pic of a 'tub' via Scarbs http://yfrog.com/kk54377855j
If you use a lot of Google's services, it's the best-integrated social network yet. It's not worth much if you're using only Google+. The value is in the integration.
I steer away from Chrome, use GMail but not through their web interface or apps and dislike FB.
I don't think it's for me :D
"Murray Walker: Life in the Fast Lane" repeat on BBC 2 at 19:00 for anyone in the UK who missed it previously.
Hello all!
Just before Top Gear, too!
Sounds about right, then. :D
I've called in a couple favors from a friend of mine.
Working on getting a time-share 2 bedroom place near Austin TX for race weekend next year. Any possibility a couple folks from SPC might be interested in a room a little over an hour's drive from the track?
Hi Eric. If I thought I could get there on Staff Travel, I'd be game. Sadly, I think it may not be practical for me. Sounds like a great offer though
Yah, I *really* want to go to this race. There are some major advantages to this plan. First off, it'll be free to stay there. And it's in a decent "resortish" location.
Disadvantages are that it's about an hour and 20 minutes away (more on race weekend, I'd think) and it's only available Friday to Friday. Even though we could stay and unwind after the race, Friday practice might be a little hectic.
Greetings everyone in Sidepodcastland....
Not sure where I am going to be employed next year so as much as I would like to go to Austin next year I think I would have a tought time setting up the proper vacation time....

Hi Sidepodcastlanders,
Does anyone have any film reviews on their own blog sites that I could look at as I am trying to write up 12 on my own by the end of the year and well, I need to come up with an idea as to the format that mine is going to take....
So far I have:
1) Tuskegee Airmen
2) Passchendaele
3) The Eagle Has Landed.
4) The Chinese Conection
So now we know that there are at least 504 films in the word, as I can not imagine that Christine would be watching any of these ones....
I think it would be a blast to have a Sidepodcast remote location at Austin.
As yet, nothing is confirmed, but I'd love to organize something. If anyone is interested let me know.
Off to bed now, hot and tired, and need to be at work tonight :(
Would you be so kind as to providing a link? :)
