Thankfully there were no announcements from Autosport International yesterday that made us scratch our heads. I mentioned in the comments that in prepping for the offline podcast this week, Mr C couldn't stop swearing when it came to talking about the rankings. Stay tuned for whether he manages to tone it down in the podcast or not! Meanwhile, here's what we're talking about:
- Pat has done the sensible thing and moved his website over from Blogger to Wordpress, and with a new title as well: I Watch Too Much Racing. Make sure you bookmark his new home on the web. Likewise, my own personal blog has made the switch back to hosted Wordpress, but it shouldn't affect your rss feeds, if you subscribe. Yay for Wordpress! (You don't hear that often round these parts so make the most of it!)
- It looks like Steven's wish could soon be granted and Paul di Resta will make the step up to Formula 1. At the moment, though, he's looking like filling the situation vacant as Force India's reserve driver, which doesn't really get a lot of miles under one's belt. Still, getting into the paddock is the first step, and di Resta is confident that's about to happen.
- A new blog has been brought to our attention in the best way possible - Ken asked if he could use one of our Flickr pictures as his header. You certainly can, Ken. He also has an interesting idea to compare the qualifying results rather than races - well, qualifying is the best part of the weekend, so I can't blame him.
That should do it for now, hope your weekend is going smoothly, let us know either way and I will see you in the comments.
hey all. I'm back from Birmingham!
how goes it chap?
did you have a nice time? did you take many pics? punch JB senior again? ;)
Yes, yes, no! Saw him though!
yay for pictures and not harming any Mr Button :)
lol
did you see Jules?
Aww poor chris. I blame whoever say he punched mr button!
Has christine seen the Mcnish/Wurtz interview on AUTOSPORT yet? Franck got bored and chucked some ice cubes at them!
You did that! :)
wha?
aw see.. now i wanna go to goodwood... luckily i only have to wait 166 days... :)
It needs to hurrry uppppppppp :)
Try http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFc-DNsLqMI
No, seriously! He was on that VIP balcony at the AUTOSPORT stage, and randomly threw some ice cubes at the interviewees! Ask Pat W for confirmation, he watched it with me!
one of christine's libravox books is now featured in the itunes store:
http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=344923521
A lot of people at the karting were interested in going. Might turn into a little sidepodmeet at this rate!
No. 1 at being a laugh. Take that Castrol.
given we skipped autosport, we might make it this year.
Librivox.
yay :D
oops.
I can't believe you didn't kidnap him for me.
Who won the karting?
He was on a balcony! And before that, in an open stage, surrounded by security!
awesome!! :) i can't wait for the summer!
Balcony?
#donttellalison
I really should go.
Though going further south than York scares me....
No-one from Sidepodcast. Our best finish was 8th...
More importantly, who finished last?
henry hope-frost has NO sense of humor.
Alia unfortunately
Monsieur Montagny.
♥ McNish.
hehehe i listened to that one a while ago, it's very good! Christine has managed to get me almost addicted to listening to librivox things.
Aww, boo, was hoping it we woulda done a bit better. Was it mixed with another group like?
That's bad
curse this general admission event! In one queue for 90 minutes then walked to the stadium and into another queue for another 3 hours.
oh my!! that's alot of queuing!
Did you get to see any tennis yet?
"Now we know the Peugeot Team Tactics this year..."
And he remembered the question.
Guilty at putting him 274th in their RANKINGS much?
bit like going to Disney i suppose...
I see in the links from the McNish interview there is an interview with VBH if anyone is interested.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eluRhEAKcj8&feature=channel
Am thinking a FIFA style rankings system might be fairer. Say choosing the 5/6/7/8/9 best results of the season which applies to it.
Quite frankly, I've been looking at it and it needs refining quite a bit.
Yeah, there was a mixture of groups
not if they've squashed her head too.
although i could fix it...
How?
I'd love to know because that really annoys me!
final cut.
Boo Tiff Needell Boo!
She looks less squashed
still squashed :(
a squashed zebra in fact.
i shall dropio a widescreen vikki, but i can't do much about her top.

Good morning, happy, smiling people!
how's tom?
Just come back from pub, again. Could get used to this, you know. Mind you, this time, 18 year old friends suddenly became more useful, if you know what I mean... ;)
Wait, no. I didn't say that... ;)
Night guys ;)
night buddy.
Oooh, thats the time. Night all, lotsa love.
Debating to myself on whether or not to go to bed. It's a wild life, this party animal business.
Hello all
Nah, no bed for a little while, just thought of something to do...
Have another beer?
Haven't had one tonight! Went for whiskey instead, much more enjoyable!
A nice way to go. Like a few shots with my beers.
Expensive though, so won't be doing it often.
Yeah, if you buy the good stuff. I go for the store brand...not
It was Bell's, so fairly decent, mind you, pub still overpriced, in my opinion.
I agree, the only time I drink away from home is at a Grand Prix weekend or a baseball game where I'm not driving. Where I live there are no good pubs, or the ones that are are a long drive
3rd row!
non-squished vb-h:
http://drop.io/sidepodcast/asset/vb-h-mp4
excellent! Is it full?
Morning folks :)
Just working my way up to going out by myself! :S
it was packed! They raised about $200,000. On the downside, tennis is now ruined for me forever because no match can top what I just witnessed. It's just not possible
I told ya it would be full! How was the match? Looks like it was the best match you've ever seen... :D
Hey Alison! Nick is at work? Where ya goin today?
oh my god it was amaaaaaazing. The first part is on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-qCmG7yuAA but the commentators talk over so many of the funny comments the players made! I am just uploading some pictures :D I really like this one, we were wearing the same hat <3
I has been outside! I've made it back and everything.
I'm about to be a bit braver. Have booked taxi to take me across town for some lunch :P
Goooood Mooooorning!
A little task for anyone about...
http://drop.io/sidepodcast/asset/p1010134-jpg
What is the track in the Centre of the steering wheel? I couldn't work it out (Hence the picture)
all sorted. tis Jerez
I'd have been no use, woulda said Kyalami.... (don't think I know what I'm talking about anymore)
Mornin all.
Morning everyone :)
I remembered that the chevrolet WTCC car had been testing in Jerez, and checked the circuits and they match! hoorah.
'orning
hello hello
I have just got my PRS licence!!! Woohoo!
oh wow! thats very cool
So live giggles radio... oh yes! With non-podsafe music. And I can offer a podcast with music in it!
(as long as it doesn't become too popular!!)
Wooo.
Erm, shhh.
Sidepodcast is already too popular for it apparently!
Wooohoo! Well done Alex!!
Mr C says not only is SIdepodcast too popular but we intend to stream to iphones. Silly plans stopping us from playing proper music.
Hi guys. Well done Alex, hopefully it will pay for itself. :)
I knows. So the big question is... When is a good time to go live today? I don't want to get in the way of the Sidepodcast record!
It won't! But I'll enjoy it :)
We'll be recording about the usual time, I think.
Hullo all, hope all are ok :)
Howdy squire. :)
Okay then I will do 2 hours of live radio (yes a simple starting point ;) ) between 5 and 7? Of course it will likely go very badly wrong.
Hehe, starting small :)
Indeed. I'm not expecting the full attention of anyone. I'm guessing a kind of background music while you do something else vibe.
Morning all.
Although I'm guessing the something else can't be record a podcast (unless you are RG #sorryRG ;) )
Morning :)
That's a nice surprise. Will we be hearing from Professor Giggles etc?
I don't think so... More music and me to start with. Then I'll scare everyone next time :)
I need to work out how to press the right buttons in the right order. Usually Christine is pressing all the buttons for me :)
Should be fun
Morning...
Was going to go for a run but it was too cold so I did some Wii Fit instead... Damn those Pandas! :D
hehe. we have plenty to do this afternoon. shall be tuning in.
the last streaming you did involved an orange drill, am hoping it'll be just as entertaining :)
I really don't want anyone's hopes up!
Just testing the nasa setup
You are planning a launch?
That's what Mr C christened the horrendous audio setup I needed to make this radio station work. The whole thing will happen with only 1 microphone lead and one headphone lead. Everything else is happening "in the computer".
Steven, I think I like Roger even more after today
I saw your link and watched a few of the videos. Really entertaining and great to see the top players doing that sort of thing rather than the seniors. It was a genius idea to mic them as well.
So are we confident it will work?
I think it's called Nasa for a reason... No we aren't confident.
I think I might have to pop into Basel when I am in Switzerland just so I can say I've been to the birthplace of the greatest of all time.
It is scheduled to start at 5pm so we can expect it around the begining of March.
If it is Nasa, it should be scheduled for 5:01pm.
I think I may have to borrow sidepodtime for this :)
You can see three countries there. Switzerland, France and Germany all meet there. Basle airport arrivals has one door that takes tou into Switzerland and one that takes you to France.
:D
apparently it's an hours drive from my friends house in Lucerne. I reckon I can talk her into it, she loves Rog. She liked my hat. I think Rog and I had a moment where we bonded over our same hat. There may have been 400 other people wearing the same one, but not in my section of the stand where he happened to be looking!
That is a cool hat ;)
Hello everyone :)
Hi Scott.
Did you get back OK?
I felt guilty every time I saw someone in a red one because they cost about three times as much and the proceeds go to charity whereas my profits went to Nike. I also don't suit red.
So my latest test allowed me to either hear it in my headphones or for the live broadcasting thing to hear it. That would be an "interesting" limitation!
You look alright in that McLaren hat though?
Looks like McNish is hogging the AUTOSPORT stage. Another ten minutes of him discussing his 2010 program etc No mention of Monsieur Montagny this time.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YduFKlm8OGo
Yeah we did eventually. The back of my neck is sore from the karting yesterday, and I have two small bruises on my inner knees as well. But they're insignificant compared to what I managed to achieve last night. I made the final of the karting and it doesn't matter if I came last in it, I still got there. :D
thats not proper red though. It's rocket red! Also known as bright orange ;)
Lucerne to Basle is a nice easy drive. If you fly into the airport though make sure you go out through the correct door. If you set one foot through the France door they insist on you going through the airport and out to the proper border crossing which is a pain and can take a while if it is busy.
That sort of pain is the most awesome ;)
:D
It's even more special when you take into consideration that it was only the 4th time I'd ever stepped into a kart and the 2nd time I'd done in so in competition.
That sounds like it could cause problems. You could plug the headphones into another computer and hear the live show so you get yourself on a delay.
you sound like you know this from experience. Definitely good advice :D
That may make ramping difficult...
I was warned about it before I arrived there. I spent three months working in that area and everyone who went out was told to go through the door on the right with the Swiss flag on it
Ramping is difficult enough!
Just think of it as a challenge
I get a bad neck just watching people do karting! Well done mr woodwiss :)
And to top it off, I edged my dad out to the final by one point - 30 points to his 29. :D
The iRacing people are going on a lot about people using Sim Racing as a base for the real thing... do you think it helped you?
I could never do that on a skateboard ;)
Bet that made you popular
The track is like an ice rink. There is no grip and it is bumpy as can be so I doubt it.
Heat results for me:
1st heat: Started on pole, finished 2nd
2nd heat: Started 6th, finished 3rd
3rd heat: Started 3rd, finished 2nd
4th heat: Started 3rd, finished 2nd
5th heat: started 6th, finished 6th (race was stopped halfway through)
To some extent. I just went out there and drove the best I could. I guess the fact that I use a wheel when racing on the 360 now might have been an aid. I think personally it has helped in terms of things like car control.
Hehehe, he was just proud of me. :)
Hmm.
They held a competition for the best drivers in the virtual Jetta TDI Cup and trained them for the real series (the winner of the training challeneges got a real drive).
The instructor said that they all had a good base to start from by doing Sim Racing...
I think Joe is starting to get annoyed with some of the Alonso fans. It's just a guess based on the last publishe comment on the thread below where he says to one commentor
http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2010/01/15/massa-and-alonso-walking-the-tightrope/
Question about Karting...
Do the professional 1-speed karts slide around a lot or is that only shifter karts?
I have only just woken up. That's half my day wasted then!
Not really because you were awake for the first couple of hours of it ;)
On a track like the one at Teamworks, they can do, but if you know how to control it properly then you can get around it most of the time. The finish straight was very bumpy though.
If it had been cars rather than karts I would say there is a big benefit but karts behave completely differently and the circuit is very unusal. A lot of the things you do in cars just don't work in a kart. Because there is no differential in the kart and a solid rear axle it will understeer unless you slide the tail.
The game teaches basics like finding braking points etc but not the technique for driving a kart on a surface like bumpy ice.
They have to slide to make them turn. See my previous comment
Fair enough. I had a kart simulator for rFactor but it didn't seem very realistic, surprisingly. The thing just didn't slide around!
Speaking of iRacing, they did have a small simulator set up with iRacing on it on one stand. When I went past it looked and sounded like someone was having a go with the Corvette C6.R at Daytona or some other oval.
From what I have seen the way to drive a kart is to turn in on the brakes and aim for a very early apex then plant the throttle to get the yaw change. Needless to say this is next to impossible in hire karts so you need to find a happy medium between that and car technique.
That's well above my level at the moment - I'm still having fun with the entry level stuff as I am waiting until the start of Feb (when I get paid) to buy the Skip Barber car and circuits needed (which costs a fair bit)!
I have got to the point where I playing iRacing quite seriously, flirting with rFactor for offline racing (as it's useless trying to get online) for more powerful series and using Richard Burns Rally to hone my concentration and car control skills...
Oh yes, and I did speak to Franck yesterday when getting his autograph. He does still remember who Christine is, and he has told me when I asked him that he is no longer in the frame for the 2nd Renault seat, as the opportunity has gone and it's been given to someone else.
Still, I'd better not say anything about when we were queueing up for the Mobil 1 simulator that he was around there and looking at the Superleague Formula stand and admiring the car a bit...
...oops. :P
Am I allowed to say.... Franck for Tottenham?
Never, ever thought I'd say that on this site. Ever.
ehehehehe even jenson thinks the first race is melbourne! :D
'So I want to get ready for the first test like it is the first race, because I don't want an excuse when I get to Melbourne alongside Lewis. I want to be ready for the first race 100 per cent.'
http://www.youtube.com/user/AUTOSPORTdotcom
i wont say hi cause i'm off to get some more work done, just thought it was kinda amusing :)
Yay!! And Noo!
*hides*
But I did say that we were all supporting him and wished him luck for Le Mans. :)
Perhaps he saw his place in the Castrol Rankings and realised the only way to make up the 16-place gap to Bourdais is to beat him in SuperFooty SpecSeries :D
Seriously though, I hope Peugeot really value him as a driver because he's becoming the French Anthony Davidson :(
I always liked the Superleague formula ;)
But he's better than Anthony Davidson, by miles?
tell you what. i've never had a bad word to say about it...
is bourdais taking part again this year?
Despite being one, other Alonso fans annoy me sometimes. I'd like for everyone to just move on from 2007.
It's a great idea and a nice car - they even have a proper calendar this year ;)
Suck it, A1GP!
Did he just really say that?!
Hah! Awesome :)
The idea of it though is still stupid.
Though, I suppose we should allow Liverpool to be good at one thing.
Oooh Scoop - he isn't racing in Bahrain ;)
:D
I agree with you but if the racing is good I can forget the sillyness and watch it ;)
that would actually be awesome.. seeing as i may have to miss the bahrain race ;)
They are becoming like the Schumi brigade :(
The problem is he has a group of fans like Schumacher has who believe he is 100% right and everyone else on the planet is biased against him. 2007 will be discussed for the next 50 years. It is never going to go away any more than Senna ramming Prost.
Looking at the website, by 2012 they are expecting to have 18 races. Ambitious.
They will do it too because they are growing properly I reckon...
Sadly yes but then all the drives have fans like that, just makes the rest of the fans look silly.
This probably helps:
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80856
Which in a way is a good thing.
I like both Alonso and Hamilton and I loved 2007 for the bitter rivalry myself.
I do like how Joe came to the defence of Ron Dennis too... rather interesting...
Regarding the show as a whole, me and dad both thought it was one of the best shows we'd been to since we started going. I know I certainly enjoyed it. I got to see the Audi Quattro S1 up close on the 60 years of Autosport stand. What an amazing car that is. Also saw the MG Metro 6R4, 205 T16 and also a Lancia 037 on the 30 Years of WRC stand. Plus seeing the Sport Quattro driven by Stig Blomqvist in the Live Action Arena was brilliant too. :P
In terms of merchandise, dad got me a 2010 McLaren shirt as a belated Xmas present (the same kind of shirt Jenson's wearing in his first press shot in McLaren gear) and I bought myself a black Rubens Brawn shirt, the 2009 F1 review DVD and a DVD with over 2 hours of Group B rally cars taking part in tarmac hillclimbs from 1989 to 2006.
Also stopped by the Classic Team Lotus stand 3 times, once just after we got into the show, then again to chat to Clive and then again so he could meet my dad and have a chat as well.
My opinion - great show, hopefully 2011 will be great too.
They actually use some half decent circuits! :)
As long as they deliver as promised... Chris Van Der Drift was supposed to get a Honda test as a reward for winning the International Formula Master but it never happened :(
Did the winner of F2 get their Williams test yet? Was it Soucek in the young driver days in December?
Date Circuit Country
Apr 3/4 Silverstone UK

:D
Yep. Soucek at Williams
Good stuff :)
looks good, except Magny-Cours ;)
Where else could they go in France?
doesn't clash with le mans either?
Dijon?
Nogaro?
Paul Ricard!
I hear they have good mustard there ;)
Doesn't it have to be an F1 class in safety or the class below?
Le Mans Bugatti or any of these
http://www.matchhotels.com/motorsport/France/
Bugatti would be too twisty I reckon.
Brands isn't, Assen isn't. It will have to be approved for International A races.
As long as it isn't Magny-Cours I'm not too bothered ;)
They used to race F3000 there. I saw McNish race there. Well race is overstating it because his car was garbage.
They even raced F1 there once ;)
That must have been a long time ago. 50s?
1967.
The drivers were not impressed. Neither were Sierra, because when they made GPL they used Rouen-Les-Essarts instead :D
Rouen is a proper classic track where Bugatti is a non-Tilke Tilkedrone.
Exactly. I think Bugatti is great for MotoGP though.
It's definitely better for smaller cars or bike because they have more room
FRANCK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewBVzk_M9-0
Look at the state of his hair!
Run! Hide!
What's with the Russel Brand hair?!
Just started watching the Group B tarmac hillclimb DVD. Looks like there's no music over the footage, just pure engine sounds. :D
He looks like he just woke up!
I love that he just walks off at the end. Poor Franck does not like to talk.
#sorrychristine

Jeeeeez.
You thought Franck's was bad, look at Thommo's!

Despres is on the ramp at Buenos Aires receiving his Dakar trophy
and hi to all ;-)
hahahah. He looks like Russel Brand. hahaa
Afternoon all.
It's definitely afternoon, right? This isn't just some big wind-up to make me think I've overslept?
and now Sainz :-)
The good thing about sidepodtime is that it is morning, afternoon, evening and night all at the same time
depend on were are you in the world... ;-)
And I'm back... Sorting out that nasa setup for sound was quite complicated!
*yawns*
How did I sleep until nearly 4pm? Yesterday was a long day for me, but still!
You win!
Yay! What's my prize?
Pride?
...oh. ;)
http://alianoralacanta.wik.is/La_Canta_Magnifico_Blog/Events/Summer_Karting_Competition
!!!
Wow, she's quick!
Oh, Chris, remember what we discussed about that venue we thought would be ideal for a Sidepodmeetup? ;)
Yes...
Should we tell them? I have the website up now ;)
Does it begin in N and end in E?
I think a lot of people are going anyway, so be my guest!
I honestly have no clue
I thought RG was hinting at Newcastle ;)
oooooh
OK, here's what me and Chris were thinking:
Whilst on the Mobil 1 simulator stand at Autosport yesterday, we picked up a couple of leaflets for the company who runs the simulator, called Pure Tech Racing. Now, on it it states that they will have a centre opening in April which will have 10 of these simulators up and running and available for arrive and drive session, organised events and competitions, group bookings, etc. It will be based near Gatwick Airport on the outskirts of London.
Chris pointed out to me that April will be the anniversary of the first Sidepodmeetup in London last year, and that if we're going to do it again, we need a better place to do it than the Science Museum.
I think you can see where this is going ;) Here's the website, there's not much on it at the moment.
http://www.puretechracing.com/
Lol, I forgot about that! I was thinking Goodwood!
Still think it's a great idea though...
I will be in London for 6-8 April and I would like to meet some Sidepodpeeps again. Whether it be here or just at the pub, I'm not fussed. I am in Nottingham the weekend before if some people want to meet up round there...
Has christine seen the Mcnish/Wurtz interview on AUTOSPORT yet? Franck got bored and chucked some ice cubes at them! {Comment #9}
That balcony above the stage provides some good comedy moments :)
greetins from america
Who won the karting? {Comment #24}
Ben Owens. Joined in via the circuit the day before the race.
The best of the people who booked through me was Antony Weeks, who came 3rd and found out about the event via Twitter.
Scott Woodwiss, who came 8th, was the best of the Sidepodcast contingent.
greetins from america {Comment #252}
Hello, Edgar :)
what'd i miss
More importantly, who finished last? {Comment #30}
I got the wooden spoon (even my brother, who hasn't karted since he was 14) did better...
Good afternoon. Yesterday was fun. I am quite tired :-)
sup pat
would bassano happen to be on right now?
Aww, boo, was hoping it we woulda done a bit better. Was it mixed with another group like? {Comment #35}
Firstly, I frequent quite a few places on the internet. There were attendees from Sidepodcast, GP Wizard, Twitter and some independent websites. Also, I managed to convince my brother to turn up and kart. Finally, there were eight people who attended via Teamworks' direct sign-up feature (all within the last 48 hours before the race and none of whom told me prior to coming). As a result, a lot of different groups were there.
what'd i miss {Comment #255}
Quite a lot of people went to Birmingham yesterday, doing the Autosport International 2010 show, the 2nd F1 Bloggers and Friends Karting Competition or both. Hence why things are slightly subdued today.
i see
But if you or anyone else are looking for something to keep them bobbing along on the internet... I seem to be about to start a music radio show in about half an hour.
One more thing - me and Dad both picked up a rather nifty Monster wristband each. I like it, it's quite cool :P
I have just got my PRS licence!!! Woohoo! {Comment #88}
Excellent!
And as a result, I'm disappearing for 20 mins. Just going to grab a sandwich. See you in a mo!
you what??
I've been told that I pulled off the James May look rather well. Success!
I have become a licenced radio station as of today and can play real music... So I am going to test that and see how it goes! Don't go expecting entertainment, but more a kind of music radio show with a bit of random chit chat in between.
Ooh, can we make requests?
Where are you broadcasting? I guess I should have asked that hours ago
You may be able to I am trying to work out the technology as we go along. I'll let you know.
Ah I hadn't worked it out hours ago... but I have now... It will be here: http://goforodd.com/gigglesradio/ or on the playground.
After 2 successful tests... the last test just went... "oh no you don't want to do that"... I am rebooting that machine now... gulp.
I go away for one day.... :-)
Sounds really impressive, where can we find it, or can't we?
Opened and ready
we did all try and warn you about going outside!
I think I am live... http://goforodd.com/gigglesradio/
I refreshed and it still shows up as 'recorded live'
Still the quick test for me :(
I hear "this is a quick test"
how about http://www.ustream.tv/alexandronov/
Ooh, yes, you're live here
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/alexandronov
that works fine for me :)
I see you.
Cheers Lukeh!
yay, alex live show :)
the perfect partner to my essay & revision :) thanks giggles :)
That got it but you're muffled and buffering...
It's a bit muffled.
No buffering here but alex's voice is muffled
b-word here also... :-(
The music is absolutely clear btw Alex.
99 red balloons!!!
Here too but the music is clear
songs sound ace, perfect audio. mic vocal is muddy though.
Sounds like that to me
Right I may have had the wrong setting on the mic from when I was trying something earlier
Music sounds good. No buffering
I can't help but think of the scene in Scrubs with 99 red balloons...
*dances about room with 99 red balloons*
Just changed an option in the flash player to give it more memory, reloading
Bet no other radio show has ever gone from All Along the Watchtower to 99 Red Balloons!
...and I'm back. just waiting for the broadcast to start
If i talk about databases having 99 red balloons in my exam tomorrow... :)
'It was part of my notes, I swear!'
It's started
I meant load, sorry!
And not that many broadcast their beer :)
Still muffled mr alex :(
Voice is still not great
Sounds like a slight echo in it
Buffering every few seconds here
It sort of sounds like you have a bucket on your head
I have none
Oooh, mic!
Same here. Also look how much concentration and thought alex is putting into the mic issue :P
What I need is some kind of hanging mic stand.
Now you're muffled and clicking
so do i. someone nicked mine.
Voice is still not good. There is an electrical crack every second or two
we need a sidepodradio station.. give it a few years and we'd rival the BBC? :P
The clicking/cracking has gone now
years?
great choice of tunes!
There seems to be zero delay between you speaking and us hearing it
Music still sounds good
Well at least that worked :)
Not enough Backstreet Boys ;)
How bad is the muffled sound? I mean is it still possible to hear what I am saying?
This one has cured the b-word
:)
spoke too soon
We can hear you but it's just very muffled. Words are understanable justr about
Yes but your voice is quieter than the music
take five and listen back to the stream. it's quite muddy.
That's a good idea. Treat it like a test session. Short runs and tweaks rather than two hours straight and learning not much
It still sounds the same
Steven got it right earlier when he said it sounds like you have a bucket on your head :P
It is slightly louder but not much
it's not like we're going anywhere, we're a captive audience afraid to go outside :)
And desperate for live anything on a Sunday night since our usual dealer let us down ;)
:P
And we're back... With the pretenders...
Oooh alex is back!
I have sound and no video
And so is sidepodcast! :P
Sidepodcast comments froze... I thought I was dooomed.
Sound and video fine here
I have a white screen and a swirly thing
OOOH, no bucket!!
Oooh alex is a LOT better
The bucket has gone. Sound is much better
You sound a lot better!
Just realised that I do have video.
♥ Giggles Radio.
That was very sleek ;)
Timechecks and everything!!
I couldn't resist a "to the top of the hour"
I now believe alex is live :P
It's quite ridiculous how much in love I am with it :)
That or his recorded timing is incredible :D
Ready for a 12 hour radio marathon?
:P
Leaving that pause where I took the bucket off in response to the comments I hoped would come in was the hardest part
Uh oh!
Very easy to add the in-built mic in using that midi thing...
yay!
When is Bassano coming in with his orange drill?
I think the other mic driver might not be snow leopard compatible yet...
:)
Woooah it's gone a bit crazy again
Voice is crackly again
I had to abandon because the buffering was annoying, sorry
Alex is a robot, I knew it
Your volume has died
Put on another record!!!
spin that 45!
ahem!
Do you have a graphic equaliserin your system that could take out the crackling?
still crackle when you were speaking :( next you'll be getting snap and pop.
I was modernising I usually call them cuts!
Steve Miller Band?
Mr C?
I actually don't know what that means.
Oh yes!
Sorry to make you feel old, but what's a 45?
If it's possible to hear me in the next segment I will try and explain!
It refers to olde worlde vinyl singles which played at 45 rpm
+
Stop that right now
I have made some adjustments... I have no idea what I am doing though :)
That just makes it more fun and more satisfying when it works.
And don't worry... There will be some modern music in the second half of the show... honest :)
Backstreet Boys?
I know this modern band, right...
:)
Still crackly
Still the same crackliness, boo :(
I think it is the radius of an old record, in inches
That would make a record 7 and a half feet in diameter
Radius? really?
thats a big ol' record
Oh dear... I feel very old all of a sudden...
i did apologise first!
Imagine how big a 78 would be.
#sameage
#tryingtofitin
Giggle's Back Alright!
YAY!!!
oh lord.
Giggles is my favourite DJ evah!!
I just had to go and buy it - I am afraid to admit!
Hmm, oh well, at least it's more pennies for them.
ohh goodness... amy will be sad she is missing this..
I heard that Chris Evans... Despite being quite an experienced broadcaster did 7 as-live full 2 hour tests before taking over the Radio 2 breakfast shows... I think I can see why... But surely this would be more fun!
Exactly!
Yeah we did eventually. The back of my neck is sore from the karting yesterday, and I have two small bruises on my inner knees as well. But they're insignificant compared to what I managed to achieve last night. I made the final of the karting and it doesn't matter if I came last in it, I still got there. :D {Comment #133}
Yay! That's the attitude :)
I have a small bruise on the inside of my right knee (nothing compared to the huge ones on both inner knees last year), my chest aches and so do my armpits. I know where I got the chest ache (got hit from behind just as I was trying to regain speed after talking to a marshall and hit the wall at some velocity) and the other things are injuries I assume are normal for the way I kart in these machines.
And it took until Thursday for him to be comfortable with it.
He said that in an interview
And you just influnced my music collection
Sounds good!
fixed!
Alex sounds excellent now :D
Sounfs good
ooh requests!
The combine harvester song is a rip off? Who knew??
Mind = blown
It's even more special when you take into consideration that it was only the 4th time I'd ever stepped into a kart and the 2nd time I'd done in so in competition. {Comment #138}
Scott Woodwiss is awesome!
News to me.
*shocked*
Oooh Green Day :D
Swears!
Ahhh... I don't have radio clean versions do I... Sorry about that!
*hides ears*
i've got a brand new pair of roller skates and i'll show you my... what??
Must be Cliff Richard related.
I feel like I'm going to have to play it aren't I!
Alex, I know a modern rock band who have no swearing in their songs :P
ooohkaaayy -
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/coventry_warwickshire/8463431.stm
Do Jenson/ the bbc not know there is a local kentish boy who is doing very well in karting named after him too?
Should we guess who? ;)
He even has a professional apology!
I get a bad neck just watching people do karting {Comment #145}
Oh no! Is there anything I can do to reduce the likelihood of that happening next time?
The crackling is slowly sneaking it's way back in but not as bad as before
Yay s-s-s-s-sabotage!
There is very slight crackling coming in just at the end of that link. Nothing bad though
I have a feeling we will be getting the Fratellis soon :)
I think Joe is starting to get annoyed with some of the Alonso fans. {Comment #153}
Well, I have to admit the people who are stuck in a two-year-old warped timewarp are a tad annoying at times...
heh :)
I think the problem is more that they believe the Spanish press and think the rest of the world is 100% biased against Alonso regardless of any logic.
Combine 'arvester > Roller skates ;)
A segway from Backstreet Boys -> Beastie Boys was interesting... Then to Melanie to the Fratellis?
these lyrics make no sense at all.
he played The Wurzels?
Roller skates and a key? How are they connected?
I don't write the songs... You lot kind of requested it!
I'm really not sure.
#BlameGiggles!
#needsmorecombineharvester
:)
2nded
I had to go and blow my nose all of a sudden!
Swirly thing for 20 seconds. Sorted now
Can hear you now
We can hear you now
No crackling
I love how you randomly meet Lemmy!
There seemed to be a bit of crackling coming back at the end again... weird?!?!
Last 2 seconds only
Did you hear any buzzing during the switchover? I could hear it in my ears but I don't know about you?
What I mean is a kind of 1 second only loud "Bzzzz"
No
Ah in that case I might use that to dock my sound...
erm... no ramp?
Worst link evah... I was a bit surprised... It autoplayed!
High kerb
Yeah... Ooops.
:)
saved by the tune though.
Absolutely... A classic!
Crackly but only when you speak. When you pause the crackling disappears
I suddenly found myself trying to remember what I had been about to say before the previous song... Bad idea. I clearly don't have 3 minutes of memory to rely on!
Okay... Well I think we've been though the eighties and the nineties so... Maybe the next song should be from the naughties? I think I have one. A little less rocky too.
The crackling went away again.
It just got loud
Music just went uber loud!
I heard that too.
Vampire Weekend!! awesome!! :D lovely choice in music today Alex :D
Ive always wondered what charlie brooker's show theme tune was!! :o
Yeah... It's weird... If I stop my channel in Garage Band then it crackles when it comes back. If I stop and start it in the midi channel then it works. But clearly after a couple of seconds Garage Band realises something is up and plays it through both channels. So now I am stopping it in Garage band and then in the midi and then doing the reverse before the song starts... Not sure this is the final solution but it will probably do for now.
Answering life's imponderables!
I always assumed it was a BBC thing rather than a band. This pleases me :)
Very appropriate :)
i ♥ this song. the killers are brilliant :) yay! :)
I've got ham but I'm not a hamster ;)
Right I have selected an M-word song... I hope I got one that a certain somebody approves of :)
My computer doesn't seem to like Giggles Radio, it keeps pausing to buffer every 10 seconds or so.
Yay!
booo... Sorry to Pat too :(
I've got Side but not a podcast...
What is that buzzer?
I think it's when Alex goes from the music to Alex's mic
not your problem, it worked for lots of other people.
Woohoo :D
It's when somebody gets a point. It's either buzzer or crackle I'm afraid :(
I think I'm going to end up over-running for sentimental reasons. I've chopped out a ton of songs so I'll only be a few minutes over.
One more after this... I just realised I gave completely the wrong impression at the end of that link.
Sorry to Sidepodcast for taking over the comments with my radio show. It's just the Mr C has written a fantastic doohicky :)
Confusingly this song has actually got crackle baked right into the recording.
Crackle is back
Lurve this song!
Ah what a classic :)
Good choice to finish on
I tried the no buzzer option just to check!
Guest appearance from Kat!
Katherine thinks it's all over!
:)
This is where I'd be faded out for F1 minute ;)
Are you going to get Christine on Skype to do it live?
That was awesome alex :)
it is now!
:)
Heh :)
I really enjoyed that even with the little technical problems
+1 Looking forward to the next time :)
same time next week?
Thanks!
Most of the songs, except for the requests started with the letter A... read into that what you will (I have a large record collection being one thing you could safely read into it)
Really need to sort out the crackle though... Hmmm... I'll need to do some more research.
Please can I request something from the Wombles next time to get you towards the other end of the alphabet.
No probs!
So it's like QI. Series one is all A. Series 2 is all B
Actually a lot of the songs that got cut started with an A. Those technical problems caused some issues there!
Musically you can't please all of the people all of the time... But I would love people to let me know what their favourite and least favourite tracks were...
I didn't know it was happening, so only caught the last 15 mins or so. Is there a track listing?
I thought you did well. In the final you were caught behind a group of 2 or 3 in a Trulli Train, every now and then you'd get blocked at the hairpin and had no choice but to fall back, and you closed up the gap at the same sort of pace the top five were running.
brilliant show alex :) i loved the mix between old classics i've always heard but never known the name of and more recent awesome songs like Muse and the Killers :)
I'm not quite sure I know what I ended up playing... Because of the tech issues...
Hold on...
Hendrix, Jimi All Along The Watchtower
Nena 99 Red Balloons
The Bangles Walk Like An Egyptian
ABC The Look Of Love
The Pretenders Don't Get Me Wrong
Blondie Atomic
Steve Miller Band Abracadabra
Backstreet Boys Everybody (Backstreet's Back) - Request
Green Day American Idiot
The Beastie Boys Sabotage
Melanie Brand New Key - Request sort of
The Fratellis Chelsea Dagger
Black, Frank & Teenage Fanclub Handyman
Motorhead Ace Of Spades
The Lemonheads Mrs. Robinson
Auf Der Maur I'll Be Anything You Want
Vampire Weekend A-Punk
Grandaddy A.M. 180
Barenaked Ladies Alcohol
The Killers All These Things That I've Done
Muse Supermassive Black Hole
Blur You're So Great
Steve Harley & The Cockney Rebel Make Me Smile
I agree with Lou. I like a mix so I have no complaints about the music.
Very much like the feature in radiologik where you can export what was actually played!
We have barely used any of it's features. The ramping blew my mind and I didn't want to go any further!
we ought to look into that.
I wasn't using the ramping... That's a next time thing. Luckily with these songs I can kind of remember when things are going to happen. But yes... Babysteps :)
*except when they autoplay
am thinking giggles should host the pre-race parade laps on ustream. especially seeing he has a prs licence and everything.
all those in favour...
I
#nothere
I agree, jon
They don't even get turned into podcasts now do they so it would be fine.
oops, i mean mystery person who is not here. ;)
the videos are podcasts, on show selector. but i've no idea how many people use that. i just think proper music would be awesome and it's up to people to tune in live.
Yeah... I think we'll need to look through the licence but I'm sure we can work something out :)
I'd rather have proper music and no podcast than the other way round.
I think the podcasts provision specifically bans video podcasts for reasons I can't understand... But as I say I'll have to check.
It's a great idea and a nice car - they even have a proper calendar this year ;)
Suck it, A1GP!
It is a ridiculous and terrible idea, with a great car and impressive calendar.
there's no need to podcast it. we can just embed you in a post and you can call us with your fancy augmented audio device :)
To be honest the parade lap show was always meant as a live filler pre-race. A warm up. Not to be kept for posterity. I mean if anything really great happens we'll have a recording to use which we can take clips from.
got my quotes wrong in editing..
I think it may be the fancy augmented audio device that's causing the crackle... that's my worry... It's very odd.
Agreed
ahh shoot.
Le Mans Bugatti
ace. so...
...when's the first parade lap ;)
In case anyone is worried... The licence specifically prohibits more than two songs per artist in the hour. So no wall to wall Backstreet Boys. #sorrychristine
Wha....? Stoopid PRS. :(
Blimey! I got home at 1.30am and slept until 1.30pm, and thought that was bad..
The only other specific thing to notice is actually harder to monitor.. but you have the same restriction on songwriters two. I almost actually hit it on one of the earlier selections that I did because I was going to include 3 songs written by Bob Dylan. To listen to them you would never have known. All Along the Watchtower, All the Wild Horses (neither of which are performed by Dylan) and Don't think Twice it's alright (which I may have gone Nick Drake on but probably would have been Dylan). But yeah. I guess it's to stop somebody releasing an album as a radio show.
Have just seen Mr Codling's tweet... I have to say my mind immediately went to Lou... But obviously not really... But... Anyway I'll stop this comment now.
I'm guessing there must be ways to have extenuiating circumstance for some radio shows though, just thinking of when Radio 1 did the Muse night a few months back and obviously playing a lot of songs all written by Matt Bellamy witrhin the hourly span.
More expensive licence, I expect.
Ah it's not to say you can't get a licence. They just cost more than the one that I have!
stop.right.there
Ahhh, makes sense :)
I did speak to Franck yesterday when getting his autograph. He does still remember who Christine is, and he has told me when I asked him that he is no longer in the frame for the 2nd Renault seat, as the opportunity has gone and it's been given to someone else. {Comment #165}
I'm pleased to see Franck remembers his fans. I think he deserves the second seat more than the driver who I think will get it (Jerome d'Ambrosio), but the latter has a management contract with the new part-owners and Franck doesn't,,,
Celebrities would do well to remember their stalkers....
Just sayin'... ;)
Right, we're headed off now to do a show, see y'all on the flip side.
byee
See you do know about records really!
Byee! Good luck on keeping mr c under control is a certain raking list gets mentioned :P
Oh. Is that what that means? Who knew?
Also from what I understand they don't make you send them your track listings they take a sample from all kinds of radio stations. So they might ask, but the might not. I guess this is harsh on smaller bands that don't get airplay. I mean how many times will Auf Der Meur get played this year on Radio 1? So part of this licence is to stop small stations from playing a lot of one artist and getting the stats out of whack which would mean the small artist wouldn't get paid appropriately.
I might have missed something here. Does this mean there's a live show? A recorded debrief? Something like that?
I agree with you but if the racing is good I can forget the sillyness and watch it ;)
Looking at the website, by 2012 they are expecting to have 18 races. Ambitious. {Comment #185}
And there I was thinking my expansion plans were ambitious... ...though Superleague Formula has at least enough sense to give itself two years to get there.
Oh yes.
Not live... they are recording a non-live debrief. It's like they've gone back to the dark ages!
!!!!!!
for the record... it wasn't me.. and i'd never get a tattoo as i'd probably pass out... :)
I did have a dream last night about meeting Jenson at goodwood that did involve him showing off a new tattoo though. Mclaren had forced him to have the santander logo tattooed on his arm. very odd dream.
#blamegiggles
Oh no! sounds like a nightmare..
Well, the Santander bit at least :P
Now that's BRAND awareness...
It was interesting hearing Wurz speak to Stuart yesterday, saying how he refused to sign up to Flavio's management contracts and how it may have cost him a good F1 career
I feel it would be a bit harsh seeing as Santander are pulling from Mclaren in hte next few years ;)
Jenson to Ferrari afterwards? ;)
it was odd cause it was in an interview he was doing with Anthony, and Jessica shouted from the crowd that Jenson should show everyone what Mclaren had forced him to have done. She seemed very upset at the idea.
I had a sidepodcast nightmare once.
We were all at Spa for the GP, but we could only afford 1 hotel room. So we were all stuffed in there.
And then one of you stole my laptop.
Did the winner of F2 get their Williams test yet? Was it Soucek in the young driver days in December? {Comment #192}
Yes, Andy Soucek's Williams young driver test day was due to winning F2.
Reminds me of a media conference a few years ago for Microsoft, when former head of Xbox 360 Peter Moore decided to have a unique way of announcing a game for the system...
sorry about that... but I do need to do a radio show :)
oo my comment disappeared?.. anyways. i meant to say
My subconscious had obviously forgotten that fact :)
Doesn't it have to be an F1 class in safety or the class below? {Comment #203}
The class below (Grade 2). The only series that requires Grade 1 is F1, but a series as powerful as Superleague Formula will definitely not get away with anything as low as Grade 3.
Is this the insane football related league?
As soon as football is mentioned I'm here...
Yes it is.
Right I've got to go and make some dinner... Don't tell anyone but I might have had some beer during that radio show... What do you mean there was a camera?
How did I sleep until nearly 4pm? Yesterday was a long day for me, but still! {Comment #233}
I slept until 11.15am (having got to bed at 12.20am) if it makes you feel any better. It's all the exertion after a hard evening's karting.
What have Red Bull been up to today? by the look of some of their pics it looks like straight line testing?... but surely it's not that cold in the UK anymore is it? (we have no snow left down here)
http://twitpic.com/yij80
They were in Montreal weren't they?
They went to Canada for an 'F1 on ice' event with Sebastien Buemi, but the ice was too thin so they abandoned it and are now biding their time doing er, things.
They were going to put their car on ice in Montreal, but couldn't..
Yup, that pic's from montreal. Buemi was going to do a demonstration on a fozen lake, but it wasn't thick enough. Apparently the lorry carrying the car started to sink and had to be pulled back by a tractor!
http://alianor...r_Karting_Competition
!!!
Wow, she's quick! {Comment #239}
I'm striking while the iron is hot - a core of people at the karting last night thought it was a good idea, so I've spent quite a bit of today doing research. Currently awaiting prices and event proposals.
I welcome ideas and suggestions to help make this event (and indeed yesterday's event, which will re-run on the same Saturday next year) better.
ahhh okay. i haven't been keeping up with the news, thanks Dank :)
Just back from [caps lock on] AUTOSPORT [caps lock off] International. So boring was it, that even the BSL lady couldn't be bothered to turn up on stage this year.
The biggest con was seeing the hordes of people who had forked out an additional £6 on their ticket to queue up for 3 hours or so to get Button's signature, only for him to be able to allocate 10 mins of his time. Cue many disgruntled punters!
but surely it's not that cold in the UK anymore is it? (we have no snow left down here)
http://twitpic.com/yij80 {Comment #593}
I went to one possible summer karting venue today and snow had led to all their events today being cancelled, as well as most of the surrounding industrial estate being covered by white stuff. The snow has melted in low-lying areas but still lingers on higher ground.
My previous comment relates to the UK, not to Canada (that'll teach me to read successive comments on a particular subject before piping up next time, possibly...)
awww noo! that's awful!
Who is that blonde lady who follows him around? His PA? She was rather easy on the eye...
Jules? Yay for her still being around :)
He seemed to be everywhere yesterday. Main stage, F1 Racing stage, turned up in the live show, then back around again..
Same here. I couldn't actually get away from him AND ALL THE SAME QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS.
Jules Kaplinski (although i think she got married recently so it may not be Kaplinski anymore) . Lets hope she's around more this year.
Greetings from teh land of Soggy Tundra.
We a a bit of a warm speel here. Watch the ice. It is thin and we would not want anyone but McLaren drivers (especially ones that only gave 10 minutes time to their fans today) to fall though it.
I only saw him in the live show. The main stage was packed and to be honest I didn't feel like hearing from him again. Hardly anyone turned up for McNish, Wurz and the flying icecubes..
F1 Racing was busy with a big area roped off when the Peugeot boys were there (it was only near the end of the day each car was roped off and you could get nearer to them). We didn't see Jenson there but knew he was coming.
so Jenson stalked you this time! (rather than us at goodwood) i like to think he's a fan of sidepodcast :P
Having just seen this tweet I think we need Stewart to phone this in for a new parade lap game:
https://twitter.com/jrobertsf1/status/7874873746
Christine and Mr C take note :)
More like Montagny stalked some of us :-)
Thing is, after seeing Jenson at the live show (which was a surprise), and knowing how busy it would get after Chris told us so having seen the earlier stage interview, I didn't feel the desire to be squashed in hearing him be asked the same questions when it'll probably be online anyway.
He was good in the arena though, very confident.
could be the Treymaining of 2010
Did I miss the live show again, Cursed time zones.....
For some reason it isn't live today, just recorded off-air
Ah. So I probably shouldn't hang around waiting for it then? Oh well, I'll try next week then.
That's no fun. I wanted to go out on a hike today but I am not too crazy about hiking alongside a cliff on a foggy day....
Just realised I'm neglecting A Little Bit Piquet. Should really write something soon.
Well, back to the Grand Prix game....
Good afternoon. Yesterday was fun. I am quite tired :-) {Comment #257}
I'm not surprised...
Rollercoaster Tycoon is too addictive!!
Definately!
I say to myself I'll give myself a break from revision and have a play on it for 10 minutes or so
An hour later...
I think the problem is more that they believe the Spanish press and think the rest of the world is 100% biased against Alonso regardless of any logic. {Comment #441}
That certainly doesn't help people understand 2007 any better...
apologies bill. we're reinventing the live show. it'll come back more awesome, but at the moment the live server need a complete reinstall. give us another week or two.
:)
happens every year. we saw the same thing happen back in 2005.
every year autosport still sell the tickets though.
who's the bsl lady?
didn't swear once!
woohoo! :)
My pics from autosport are up on Facebook. Might drop some later. Watching being human at the mo.
Someone's going to be a happy bunny on here... :-D
Just back from [caps lock on] AUTOSPORT [caps lock off] International. So boring was it, that even the BSL lady couldn't be bothered to turn up on stage this year.
who's the bsl lady? {Comment #629}
The woman who converts the interviews into sign language for the benefit of the deaf and hard of hearing. BSL is the name of the version of sign language most commonly taught to British people.
If you wanted her actual name, sorry but I don't know what it is.
ahhh, ok. seems an odd place to cut costs!
Doing rather different things to what I'm supposed to, I've devised things for ALBP...
♥ :D
that's made my day of revision and stress worth while :)
I'm looking through mine now. The quality is quite bad. I frequently left the flash on because even though I turned it off, all the settings were forgotten every time I switched off the camera. So even those with reasonable lighting have come out grainy or blurred. How are yours?
I did get video of Codders talking to Franck, you can hardly hear them. I don't know if I can upload it legally but until told otherwise I'm claiming 'fair use' and it is on its way to YouTube...
you filmed it in a public environment, so yes it's yours.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4016/4282197137_5d216c7689_b.jpg
woop ;)
ok ta :-)
no doubt Bernie's goons will soon have it removed just because it has F1 cars in it
The only picture I took today was of the Lancia Stratos!
My humble point-and-shoot camera feels very inadequate next to the missus' 'Megatron' device, which I'm sure has visions of taking over the world.
by the way, thats Oliver Webb's F3 car. I interviewed him last year
#feederseriesfacts
you should've taken a pic of her camera #lensenvy
Blimey, looking straight at us!
not as good as lady laney's, but featuring a jules and a bear:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/heczonephotography/4282561748/in/set-72157623223792408/
That's crying out to be used for a caption competition.
Actually, the show isn't a public environment. Just like a Grand Prix, the organisers can set the rules about how you use photo and video taken at the show. Check the back of the ticket.
In this case I'm sure they won't mind.
"When you said 'Bare with me a moment'..."
this one may be better:

Competition closed.
:)
As it turned out, Jenson failed his medical career before he turned to F1.
*cough*
What car is this?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/feederseries/4282187659/in/set-72157623230119718/
*cough*
Jules!! :D
I'm very jealous of heczone/ hannah... she's a member of jenson's forum and her and the others must have met Jenson and Jules several times.. He remembers them and everything! (Jules went over to them when she spotted them in the queue in Selfridges)
ahhh, small world :)
Is it a Williams?
ya but not sure what. someone around here must know
Would it be the FW11?
Good call. It says that I may be filmed, and that recording equipment is 'not permitted in theatrical or performance areas'. So I'm guessing the 12 seconds of Button in the live arena is a no..
Missed you at the karting..
awwww see, he needs Jules :)
very small.. made even smaller by the internet :)
Not sure.
Whoever drove it raced with a number 5, a red one. That must be that Nigel thingumy

Digest, comment etc etc.
From Thursday.
Friday ones will go up next month as apparently i'll hit a 100MB uploading limit if i do Fridays now
No, just realised FW11 is a bit thicker than that. My new guess, based on an internet search is the FW14.
Looks like a 1991 or '92 to me. I can never remember which codes are which years.
FW14 was 92.
It's the FW11b
Typo. Williams FW14b.
thankya :)
AKA Nigel Thingy's Championship winning car.
Just realised I've been posting and tweeting with my old blog address linked... better change that...
Video of Franck and Stuart, you'll have to strain to hear them.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=df4gzdNfK_M
I'm assuming that moments after the video ends, Stuart kidnapped Franck for me, right?
Maybe that's where he vanished
The ice cubes incident was later. Maybe it wasn't ice cubes, but a call for help, which they misunderstood?
Ooooh, yes!
Yes true. The journalists were clearly working together and they secreted him on the first floor out of harm's way, or so they thought.
This is a too short and terrible quality, I assumed my poor cheapo camera could cope with the digital zoom it was built with. I should have just left it at full normal zoom. He's the one in the white shirt and yes he did arrive in the truck and we didn't know until he got out...

The best bits from the live show were the oval races, I took short videos of those too but that man's head was very annoying so I didn't bother with anything longer.
here and here.
That's the only video footage I got. There was also the Tiff vs Vicki 5th Gear thing which was boring.. just them doing donuts in a Porsche and a Jag. some drifting, some Fiestas racing, some MX5s racing and the Autosport Young Drivers at walking pace in Palmer Audis (the MX5s were faster). All of the races were too short, they could easily have dropped some boring parts and had longer races.
Booo.
FPA's are always slow because single seaters have no grip at all indoors like that
So who's gonna be buying Bernie Kart Wii?

Revision's going well isnt it?
marvellously
meeee!
Exactly. Whoever dreamed up that idea needs slapped wrists. Put the young drivers in Legends or something and let them have a proper race.
:-)
I'd buy a Wii just to play that.
i hearts legends so very much
I'm off anyways, see you all tomorrow.
good luck for your exam!!

unfortunately they looked better on the little camera display than they've turned out here.
that's a double hash tag
a double hashtag then :P
aww! i like that the brawn is raised slightly in comparison to the other cars.. :)
Nice photos Pat, I do like how some teams did bring the 2009 car. It always annoys me to just see an old car painted like the new car. *cough* Ferrari, Williams, Renault *cough*
The Red bull was left of the brawn, and the Mclaren was on the right. It was basicly a podium for the constructers!
I'm not sure which Ferrari it was, opinions ranged from 2004 to 2008 I think, but it was complete with KERS logo
not logo... warning
It still said F60 on the front, which annoyed me so much!
That seems the most ridiculous detail to go to. Everyone can plainly see that's not the F60.
That takes the biscuit! I want to complain!
can they?
Well, in comparison to the other 2009 cars, you'll see the difference in wing sizes. It's a bit like Spot The Difference, really.
ahh that makes sense. looks like it was the actual brawn, not the hondara108 with the brawn livery. yay for that! :)
Ah yeah. I can't say I was paying attention at the time.
Yep, does look like the BGP001. Good on them for bringing it, I say.
Yup real brawn, real red bull and real mclaren. Seeing as red bull hve an RB5 in Canada at the moment, it seems odd that ferrari williams and renault couldn't get their latest cars down...
Usually, Red Bull just run in the showcar, which is a heavily modernised RB1, but you can usually still see it's the RB1. Pleasant surprise to see the RB5 there, wish I could have gone to see it!
Ferrari I can understand, bit of a bother to get it from Italy in January. Williams and Renault are only really just down the road though..
ooo on the subject of show cars/ road show cars i wonder what Mercedes will do this year. I'm not sure they'd have one of the Brawn cars repainted seeing as there was only ever 3 made. Maybe they'd repaint an ra108 again?
For events like goodwood maybe they'd bring the 2010 mercedes car but show off the Brawn? Didn't Brawn have a problem that they couldn't run their car up the hill last year due to testing laws?
What shocked me about that car was that a guy reached over to touch it and actually caused the car to rock forwards and back with one finger on a tyre. He wasn't even trying, which shows how light those things are!
I can see a brawn car with a mercedes logo on it going up the hill... might be wishful thinking though...
Yep, incredible really! It might have had the engine removed though, possibly.
with no Jenson.. and it being unlikely Schumi or Nico would come i think that maybe Mercedes may keep Ant.. seeing Ant in the Brawn again would be awesome! plus it would mean he'd have to come to goodwood (this again is probably wishful thinking)
Wouldn't be suprised/
It'd be entirely possible, considering its proximity to the public, and the cost of an engine.
Talk about grave-digging.

No pun intended. ;)
im not sure those reasons are really true surely? get an old engine they've used, take the pistons etc out and just leave the crank so theres something going through it. would imagine that would be easier than designing something that takes the engine's place with as much rigidity.
okay, bed time for me. night all! x
adios!
classic :-)
