Congratulations to Jedward for winning Eurovision*
Guess what it is my second daily in only a few days... You go 4 weeks without a Giggles Daily and then two show up! It's like Formula 1 cars in the Red Bull Pit Box thanks to Jenson... Joke! It was an easy mistake to make... Sorry Lou... I'm covering for Lou who is helping out a sick friend and so I better be nice and not mean to Jenson... Jenson is lovely don't you think?
I mean look...

Sadly there wasn't any F1 news today so there aren't any links really...
So I thought I better bake something up myself... So here it is... The Sidepodpie

I made it today it was chicken, bacon and leek inside. It was very nice :)
Hope you have a great day, if you are worried about a lack of links I have this site for you called google.com. It's really good, you can type anything in and stuff comes up.
If you are bored though in a post Eurovision funk... Why not join us at 4pm for 1983's Giggles Radio show! It will be great to see you.
* If Jedward did win this joke won't work as well.
Great site google.com hehehe :)
Ping http://sidepodcast.com/post/daily-15th-may-2011
New daily!
Hehehe, I like it :)

Ooops I pinged in the new post not the old one!
Wow
Heart the Google mention
Oohh, 1983 Giggles Radio, wonder what will be on the playlist
managed to blog while watching eurovision and drinking... think i'll leave proofreading until the morning
Ooh hopefully I'll be back from golf to catch Giggles Radio, I want to catch this one too as my sister was born in 83
I never did get around to doing my DRS post.. maybe Sunday
i did mine 4 days before
Sidepodpie :D
yeaaahh for Jenson! Thank you for the link Alex :)
a) the rest of the tardis looks like it got stuck in the 70s.
b) better tights this week
#drwho #pondwatch
Evening all
I missed Eurovision? Oh blast! How'd I do that?
How are we all?
nice daily alex, but what is that pie? i mean, i see the words, but what are they etched into?
Etched? It's a pie!
Oh yes, sorry. Kitchen talk.
;)
it looks like toast.
Ok, I'll admit I did initially think it was very tasty cheese on toast :)
If you're missing the rerun of Jools on BBC2, catch the iPlayer. I've not watched in a while because it has been a bit pants but this is a good one.
I saw one a coupleof weeks ago, the first in ages and it was rather good

Etched? There is a pastry layer on the top of the pie. And the words are extra pastry on top. The perspective issue was hard to deal with an I had to post my daily in the brief time while the pie was cooling right from the oven so we didn't burn ourselves.... But here now is a cut-away shot: so you can see inside the pie.
http://t.co/Wr2ZmLn
This is the bottom left corner of pie. And you should be able to make out the P and the I.
Good morning
There's only 3.141592 left?

I fear I may have spoiled Mr C with shop-bought pies so he wouldn't recognise a proper homemade one if it hit him int he face :)
I think Eurovision broke me, I couldn't move to go on my run this afternoon. I thought my sundae sugar high would help but it made me crash more :(
Awww, I don't suppose staying up all night is good training :)
it appears not :D
ah... yes... about a year ago I made a pie that I knew I was going to photograph (it was about a bet about home made pastry) I used a pirex dish so I could get the side in. But I didn't think about it until I was about doing this until I was about to put the pie in the oven. So the choice of a white dish on a white background might have foxed him!
Is it good training for staying up all night to watch giggles radio?
unfortunately not this time, I need a little sleep before work tomorrow :(
Shame... but I understand really :)
How was eurovision?
All the usual controvacy?
political voting? intrigue? Corruption? DRS?
Morning. Have you guys seen that Richard Hammond is in a program on TV tonight about F1's Engineering connections: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b011dcb2/Richard_Hammonds_Engineering_Connections_Series_3_Formula_1/
Also, when did he start swapping hairstyles with James May?
That looks interesting
there's a dish? :)
am with you now. i have never seen a pie like this one, but clearly it is a pie :)
I found eggshell in my pie :(
Be quiet about it or everyone else will want some eggshell too!
I dont know how real this is, but someone posted it on fb and I LOL'd

Disney and the royal wedding
Amanda did. And as far as I recall, that was the clothing I saw on the day...
its not quite real, they've changed the disney bridesmaids dress colours + the bride should be blonde.
oh and they've changed the groom too :)
http://thereacharounds.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/cinderella.jpg
Oh. But the pics of Wills, Kate & the Fergusons are accurate, right?
This is like the BTTF date photoshop, isn't it?
yeah
Well it makes an interesting point I suppose. The wedding was very Disney!
My Doctor Who ping: http://mrschristine.com/2011/05/15/doctor-who-series-6-episode-4-the-doctors-wife/
You see the part you've missed out on is the part where the pie like the ones you are used to are made in the first place. They are made in a dish that gives them the shape at the bottom. Then taken out. Which is nice and everything but the idea of taking out this massive pie out of the dish in one piece was a bit daunting!
(and actually this pie isn't really a true pie because it doesn't really have any sides or bottom, this is like the kind of pie you'd get in a pub, I don't really think of them as true pies... but if Shepard's pie and cottage pies can be pies and they have potato on the top then this must be a pie if it has something on the top... see?)
what? there's a lattice-work dish? where?
I don't understand what you are saying?
i can't find a good picture, christine will know. but when she cooks pie, it kinda looks like this: http://pieinthesky.biz/
i think.
I wasnt sure if i should say anything, but even to this day i get a tiny ping of disapoint when i get a pie and it has no bottom or sides :D
My local now does pies which they say has that much pastry, but it is all on the top
That pie looks amazing though, i definatly wouldnt be disappointed!
Can you send one of those instead of a cake? :)
Arent they normaly sweet pies that have a lattice top?
Here's a usual pie: http://www.offthepost.info/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/football-pie.jpg
Here's a pie being made by me last year: http://yfrog.com/6qykwj
And the daily post picture was taken from the top.
But isn't that for desert?
no, it has like meat and chicken and things in it.
christineeeeee!!
Like I said, I have spoilt him with shop-bought pie.
http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=266364069
PIE!
I had no idea there were lattice savoury pies and now I'm afraid of them.
*giggle's pie i lovely too, i just didn't understand it
So imagine... Instead of a lattice... that it was solid pastry... and then the writing was like bits of lattice laid on top of the solid pastry.
got ya.
now i want pie.
OOh, now i am hungry! They dont do pies like that in the shops here, just little ones.
#PieCraving
And now you know what to look for in the shop.
he he :)
I love that Mr C can only look at the top of the stack of things and that all pies are the same as the last pie that he had :)

Probably best not to bring a Lemon Meringue Pie into the discussion!
it honestly looked like toast to me. i thought it was a bit like the face of that bloke in the cloth. the face of sidepodcast appeared in my pie :)
it's okay...
what I mean is that this is much more fun that it just being accepted in the daily and forgotten about :)
hehe. i certainly appreciate the effort of cutting little pastry sidepodpieces :)
Catching up with some of the Big Weekend stuff on the iPlayer. They just showed a shot of Mr Hamilton, presumably supporting his girlyfriend.
Good morning everyone (or should I say afternoon?)
Lewis Hamilton's fantasy interview. I guess you have already read it, but here it is: http://www.formula1.com/news/interviews/2011/5/12029.html
No... I've read Facbyte Factbox was used to do the coverage of the Eurovision Contest. What did Spain do?
Sung in Spanish, as always ;)
Spanish's singers who go to Eurovision are (usually, not always) the freaky side of our population... I must say we are not like them.
Well, their song was covered here: http://sidepodcast.com/post/2011-eurovision-song-contest-grand-final#data-10163
I'm not sure where they finished overall, but it wasn't in the top ten!
Let me guess why... hehehe.
The Argentinian dude who had an Elvis costume and a plastic guitar a couple of years ago was legendary!
Actually the song wasn't too bad...
I don't think it was an embarrassing performance. It was very happy and bouncy... it just didn't do very well :)
Dear Rome
Please stop raining, I was hoping for a wee bit of tennis before bedtime.
Thanks,
Amy
Yes, but he is an actor. Anyway, he was quite unique.
Something that struck me last night - why do some countries persist on singing in their own language? To me, if you want to win it's best if you sing in English. The Serbian lady had a decent tune but it made no sense because it was in her own langauge...
Last year's performance was :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfQIfV8oQ2A

Well, the lyrics are quite strange, but the guy has a nice voice.
There was a man who jumped to the stage in the middle of the concert. He is from Barcelona, that's why he was wearing that hat.
Another ping: http://mrschristine.com/2011/05/15/live-like-a-womble-7-the-zombie-house/
Just watching the motogp,
Silly drive though penalty. Absolute opposite of F1 in giving the penalty in the closing stages of the race.
It will be interesting to see how its received
Yeah.. knida nuts. What was the outcome of the Stoner warm-up punch-up?
I think he got the penalty because he's not a works rider and the stars have expressed their dislike of him.
500o euro fine.
Lorenzo had a similar incident earlier in the race which didnt result in a crash and no penalty
You punch a rider in the face and you only get a €5000 fine? Madness
Thats a bit of an exageration
Imagine what that would have cost MSC?!
How so? Stoner got annoyed Di Puniet was going too slow, so he rode up to him and lamped him one.
Fact is, if he wasn't a star he wouldn't have got away with a fine.
BBC just mentioned rossi getting nothing for taking out stoner, also the guy stoner punched got nothing either
Well for starters it was on his arm,
Do you think if that wasn't Simoncelli and he didn't have a 'reputation' (which is nonsense created by works riders too scared of him) that he would have gotten a ride through?
A punch while riding is a punch and that's very dangerous.
Pedrosa injured collarbone. So it's down to Stoner and Lorenzo then.
Shame about that. He was looking a bit fragile this year anyway.
I think it would have been peanalised if it was any of the 'humans' taking out an 'alien'.
It needs to be consistant
But sti
I agree
Nobody fell off, id say a fine is fair.
And to think the world feed commentary was mentioning he'd been rejuvenated post-surgery, as Dani thought it was career-threatening.
But if somebody had it could have been very bad. So I don't think a fine is eniugh.
Afternoon everyone,
Coming to y'all from windy, windy, windy Snetterton
Afternoon chap
Hey man. F3 duties?
Dear Briton,
Please move a train station nearer to Snetterton.
Yours sincerely,
Leigh
yep
That should obviously be "Britain"
Race 1 was very good - saw two epic, epic moves around the outside of turn 1 by Kevin Magnussen yesterday for the win.
Son of Jan!
Yep - looking better this weekend that he did in the first two rounds. You can easily see the rookies that are learning and the ones that aren't
He hasn't had too much coverage here yet - which is surprising, because Danes Doing Well Abroad normally get on the news...
He's still only 9th in the Championship, but is starting from 2nd for race 3 today.

There's a guy in the 125cc's called Maverick Viñales!
Best MotoGP weekend so far this year. 125 was my personal fave, but all 3 races were great!
Racing for the Paris Hilton Racing Team. Top that! :D
It was OK. Didn't see the junior races but the SIC penalty spoiled the main race a bit for me. Had a mad start and then calmed down a bit.
I may have a little surprise coming on the F1 Archive during the week.
#RatherLimpTension
Ah. You SHOULD watch the junior races, then. :)
SIC penalty was borderline for me. While I do agree that it would be less likely if any of the aliens did it, SIC shouldn't have put himself in that position. World feed commentary also said that had they not collided, SIC wouldn't have made the corner.
I don't have time, then I fall behind and stop watching totally. Best just to watch the MotoGP.
The only reason they collided is because Pedrosa sat up mid corner. Had he tried to stay down they both would have made it around. SIC had the corner I reckon.
Even that last part's disputed. World feed commentary was saying Pedrosa had the corner. Good point about Pedrosa sitting up. Might watch the British EuroSport feed again just for that.
:)
Ooooh, Giggles Radio is back in 100 minutes! :D
BBC has a very different view. I think if it wasn't SIC doing that move then there would not be a penalty.
Makes it even more interesting what Toby and the gang say, then.
It's Charlie Cox and Steve Parrish. And I am inclined to agree with them TBH. I think all of this is similar to the discussions about the F1 photographers - the works riders are afraid this quick young kid on a used bike is gonna nick podiums and race wins off them, so they complain he's rough and dangerous. The sport is lacking in manufacturers and teams so it has to pander to the big boys, hence the slap on the wrist for Stoner and the harsh penalty for SIC.
They should've had a 1-2-3-4, with Lorenzo 6th. Instead, they get a 1-2 with Lorenzo 4th. Honda clearly have the quickest bike out there, but they have to be careful not to throw their title chances away.
#F3
One thing that did annoy me yesterday was a really dodgy move by Buller on his teammate Foresti - Buller was about to be taken down the start / finish approaching turn 1, when he squeezed Foresti on to the grass.
Had Foresti not pulled out instantly, it would have been a mental crash.
Greetings everyone. Just doing a Tundrland time check here. In trouble with the lass as I am not going Scuba diving today. My excuse is that it is going to be too cold after the 1st dive but actually the dive starts at 11:00 am EST which i whne Giggles Radio goes on live.
No, she is not going to buy me an Underwater casing for my smartphone just yet. I KEEP telling her what a wonderful Chrisitmas gift it would be....
bah, still raining in rome, not a single second of play and they should be onto their second match by now! I'm off to bed, no finals for me :(
you'll miss Giggles Radio? :(
Interesting. From MotoMatters re: SIC-LOR:
"Few journalists were of the opinion harsh penalty on SIC, but seems riders generally think it was an offside manoeuvre. Pheeep! Yellow card. "
And:
"Not a racing incident. If SIC leaves space for PED, that's OK, he didn't he shut the door, crash inevitable. "
Oh, this one's from Gavin Emmett of the world feed commentary.
That's referring to the BBC then.
Hard to tell, depends on the angle.
So how about I quote a load of BBC people to back up my argument then? :P
By all means, please do. I'd love to tell you what Toby and the gang are saying on EuroSport, but my Internet is atrocious at the moment.
I'd be keen to hear too. But it looked to me like a pass around the outside, then Pedrosa sat up mid corner. Then they touched. I think SIC had the corner myself but he's been tarred with the dangerous rider brush by other riders, so it was assumed to be his fault.
Why didn't Rossi get a similar penalty in Jerez?
A very good question. And a very valid one too.
Only race control can answer that.
Well, a bit of good news for Pedrosa: the collarbone break was a clean break, so he should be able to race at home in Barcelona in 3 weeks. F1 schedule helping him out there too.
But I'm guessing those mid-race fatigue issues may now come back for Dani.
@Sebastien_buemi: I had my first few laps ever on the Redbull ring! It is a fantastic circuit! I really hope to see it on the calendar as soon as possible!!!!
is the a1 ring coming back?
My point here I suppose is that there seems to be a difference in treatment between the works riders and the privateer riders, which is sad because Simoncelli is an awesome talent and I reckon he's got what it takes to be a champ.
it's been an on-and-off rumor for some time now. although i'm not sure if the certification they're going for is F1-grade. that said, i don't see it getting in unless one of the European races (Valencia? Budapest?) is dropped).
I am sure Dietrich hopes so because he bought the circuit. It's not a patch on the old Österreichring though!
valid point. well, let's see if that is addressed by Dorna.
I think it will only get worse as long as the field is small. Best not to drive manufacturers away and all that.
Mr. Giggles, can I make a request? Please have a lo-fi feed up for today's show, like what you had last time. Please? :D
It is wired into the system... It would require me to turn it off now.
Do you need the link?

FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE, why not re-pave the old Oesterreichring and make a proper Grand Prix track of it? If not who do I have to HANG 'EM HIGH to do so?
...Anyone else notice that I havean urge to watch a Client Eastwood Western after Giggles Radio today ?
Just saw the RT of what Buemi said. If memory serves me right, RedBullRing was also in it's past lives the Österreichring and A1-Ring. The latter named after a cellular phone company and not the steak sauce.
Chicken, Bacon and Leek Sidepodpie? Sounds tasty. :9

He's also known as John Crichton-Stuart, 7th Marquess of Bute, or the Earl of Dumfries: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Crichton-Stuart,_7th_Marquess_of_Bute

I'm guessing this is still using Flash video
Maybe it is. Ecclestone soesn't often make surprise visits

It's had minor alterations since the A1 I believe, but not much.

Hello everyone! Looks like Sidepodcast is the place to be at the moment, very interesting discussion going on.
there's less about f1 than i was expecting.
hehe, it's taken up faaaar too much of my time since last week :)
He's talking to Mike Gascoyne in the Lotus factory. You couldn't get more F1!
very very interesting though. always good to shake up the establishment. how are we all?

So far I have done; Bobsleigh, Sprinting and Long Jump. Next week I'm going to do my first bike race, which should be fun...probably.
Bobsleigh! What a great place to start!
It was so epic.
