As pointed out by Flibster in the comments, it's some kind of special day today. The rest of the world is busy declaring their feelings for one another, so we intend to join in the fun with some Sidepodlove.
Rather conveniently as it turns out, F1 is full of the stuff at the moment.
- Button must have a bit of a crush on Senna today, as it looks like the Brazilian's sponsors have funded the Team Formerly Known as Honda for at least four races of the season. Whilst things are looking ever so slightly Super Aguri-esque on that front, four races are better than none.
- Flavio must have a space in his heart for Alonso after the Spaniard finally managed to drag his R29 off the bottom of the testing timesheets. On the final day in Jerez, the team finished second out of the 2009 runners. Sadly, they've already announced they won't be in Barcelona next week - a sign of trouble or do they know something the others don't?
- Unfortunately, not all relationships are rosy, as Adrian Newey seems to have fallen out of love with Formula 1. It looks like the man with the golden pencil wants to take a step back from the sport as he's finding the regulations a little too restrictive. Is this a cry for help to the FIA and Max?
There is one more slice of love to mention of course, and that is the love I hope the Sidepodcommunity shares for our illustrious leader Christine. Granted, I may have forgotten to buy the girl a present today (or bought a card, or booked a table, or contacted a florist) and yes this does constitute an abuse of powers. However, I've dug a nice big hole for myself, and right now would be a really convenient time to express your love for Christine and remind her just how very special she is.
If you were to do that for me I might love you too. See you in the comments.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
I love sidepodcast
And so should you
Aw. I like that.
Granted, I may have forgotten to buy the girl a present today (or bought a card, or booked a table, or contacted a florist) and yes this does constitute an abuse of powers.
So that PDF I posted will come in handy then? :D
Roses are red,
violets are blue,
we love sidepodcast,
and Christine at that too
am thinking today would be a good day for scott to practice some of his best lines.
We could come up with some suggestions for him?
Oh, you think Scott's the one that's in trouble, do you? :-P
No worries. While we are at it.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
I love you Nick
even more than sidepodcast too
(last line needs a bit of work, but I'm getting there)
What have I missed about Scott?
Not quite as catchy :)
he bought a book about talking to girls, i think (although it sounded better when he said it).
Hmm, aye. Maybe replace 'sidepodcast' with 'Rosberg'. Still works.
:D
? much love from me to Christine, Mr C and all the lovely people in the Sidepodcast Community (inc the non commenters ;) ) ?
damn it didn't like my hearts. ah well <3
Christine, I want you to look away right now. Go on, turn your back for a minute and put your earphones on. Just skip to the next blog comment.
ME: Want an easy out... suprise her with dinner. It is the ultimate guy get out of jail free card. Even if you screw up and burn the chicken or the noodles are still hard, she will think better of you. Just grab a few candles, a bottle of wine, a stuffed chicken and some rice and off you go.
You can thank me later. If a sidepodbaby results from this, you don't even have to name it after me.
You may continue to read the blog from here Christine.
kathi managed hearts the other day, how'd she do that?
Not 14th yet here... I can enjoy the day twice! Love to all of you!
Ahh.
.
.
.
Valentine's Day with all this 'love' is the sauce on the pancake, speaking of sauce, check the sauce of F1 Waff... Ah you can't even plug your own darn blog when your tired.
Sigh, I need a life right now. I knew I shoulda...
...Most pointless post ever? Ye.no actually.
I love you all, I think. Eh?
i can make a cupcake that looks like postman pat (if postman pat were drowning in a sea of icing sugar)?
one thing podcasters need? silence!
plus, with my cooking she'd end up falling for a brigade of fireman.
hmm not sure. i'll try again... ♥
yay ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
yay! what did you do?
By the way R.G, I can't comment into your blog ("Post a comment" does nothing)
nothing... just the usual & hearts ; (without the spaces) although i just posted that from the doohickey, where as the first was from ye olde comments. not sure if that would make a difference.
Now you see, you buy a ready made meal. Which can be bought at any local supermarket of your preference. You stick it in a magical thing called a microwave, which heats things quickly whilst tasting just as good and requiring a twentieth of an effort.
♥ nice. although it doesn't seem to quote them :(
Oh damn not again, will look at it.
The height of romance!
Much love to all!
She'll never know...
Oh. :D
Try now, hopefully should work.
:D
C'mon, you can do a lot better than that. Grab a cooking book and make a proper dinner
No. He really can't.
you've not heard the audio or seen the video of 'me' making the cupcake have you? :P
Hehehe.
Or, do the even lazier way and go out. All that requires is the function to drive, and decide from a selection of fine meals.
That good eh? Impressive.
Takeaway?
LINK??? :D
You can carefully graft that into your own cooking, similar to Principle Skinner in The Simpsons when serving food to Chalmers, which he bought from Krusty Burger when trying to mask a fire.
Button is Red
Franck is Blue
We know that she's married
but Christine Love's you too
Happy Valentine's Day Christine, I'm really sorry that 'me' forgot to get you a Card, Roses, Chocolate's, Table at a restaurant, weekend at a spa, or any of the other traditional Valentines gift, but what do you expect from a man? We never remember these things unless told about them after our partners have already brought themselves a really expensive gift with our credit cards. But what you have to remember Christine is, how many husbands stay up till 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning coding websites for they lovely wives, not many? 'me' may not be great at something's, remembering presents, making cupcakes, but his heart will always be yours, even if a large part of yours does belong to Franck.
So every time you login to one of the SPC wedsites, remember there a gift from 'me' and give him a little hug of thanks from both yourself and all of us in the SidepodCommunity, for without either of you our F1 world would be a empty and lonely place to spend these long sessions.
Happy Valentines Day One and All
(Christine, the credit crad thing was a hint by the way)
http://www.sidepodcast.com/2008/11/03/parade-lap-brazil/
So, he's a lost case?. Then what a better probe of love than learning to cook? (and if that is too risky, then yes, I agree that going out in a romantic dinner is a good solution)
and the video:
http://www.sidepodcast.com/2008/11/02/live-so-what-are-you-baking-for-the-race/
Yeap, thanks
You beat me by 3 seconds you...
doh. mine apologies.
No worries.
Thanks guys, will check that one out for sure :)
But now I'm off to bed as I have to be up early again tomorrow!
night alenyaa.
There is some nice romantic films on tonight.
Tremors 2, The Usual Suspects, Vacancy, It Came From Outer Space, Halloween.... :D
Tremors 2 is a good one...
Argh Halloween!!!!
*Hiding*
not the original tremors?
:(
not seen any of them :)
Not that I can see.
Most of them are pretty bad, but The Usual Suspects IS one of the best films ever made.
It's the remake - so it's not scary at all.
it has roses in it too.
okay, am off to bed now. night all x
G'night Lou
night lou.
Other film highlights on tonight:
Batman *the Tim Burton version - not the slightly camp 1960's version*
Back to the Future
Saving Private Ryan
Goldfinger
The Matrix
Goodfellas
Taxi Driver
Goodfellas is in my all time Top 20
Such a marvelous film
again, loving the romance in that list.
Certainly is. Watched it only the other day for my Top 250 in 365 challenge, along with The Godfather Trilogy
It's almost embarassing how quickly I'm going through the list at the moment.
I said highlights... Romantic films are rarely good. :D
Not even any good horror on. It's Valentines day - it's normally loaded with slush *for the couples* and horror *for the singles*
Very disapointing this year. I will probably have to go through the DVD wall to find a good horror film or 3 to watch.
I'm saving Rec, The Orphanage & The Strangers for such occasions :D
I think I'm going to go with a selection of classics. Probably from this lot.
The Birds, Gremlins, Hellraiser, The Omen, the original Friday the 13th *which I was going to watch tonight, but got into something else*, Evil Dead 2, Carrie, Nightmare on Elm Street, Dawn of the Dead, Psycho, The Exorcist, The Shining, Halloween *original version with the Shatner mask* and will probably finish with my favourite modern horror film - Scream.
night guys and gals.
I assume for forgetting everything it's the sofa for you? ;)
good night me
I once flew from London to Sydney for a 7 day trip to be with loved one (and was jet lagged till about day 4!)
When I was skint I drew flowers on the blackboard at home
It's not about cards, gifts or fancy restaurants - just a little thought
Anyway, this year it'll probably be spent in front of some HD movies :)
Well, you reveal a little bit of Valentine history about yourself and it gets moderated.
Wordpress must be single too!
I'm going to go lay in bed and watch Nightmare on Elm Street with the other half.
She doesn't like horror films. :D
G'night peeps.
Night Flibster
Me:
You could get off the hook by stating that you where planning to get her a 1/18th die cast of Super Aguri SA05/06 of a certain nameless French Driver, but there's nothing availible. You could event quote the "Grand Prix Legends" website to prove you case.
However, there is a 1/24th die cast of a certain driver's SA05 Super Aguri at Grand-Prix Miniatures Inc, 6807 St. Laurent Blvd, in "Centreville", Montreal, PQ, Canada. If you book your flight now, you can weasel that your way that Locally, (Montreal Time) it is still Feb. 13th.....
Hope you can speak Quebecor French...
Ah I see, talking about me last night, were we? :P
No, no, no, no.
Yes, yes they were.
Surely a person like you who comes on every week to talk about F1 doesn't need advice to talk to girls?
I think that's the root of the problem. I'm on every week :P
Plus the fact that I don't get out very much at the moment due to lack of monies. That and all my friends have the same problem and they're also caught up with A levels and college.
Would it be like
'Who are you calling now Scott? You call this person every week, your seeing someone else arent you?'
'No, its just Christine at...'
'I knew it, goodbye.'
Fair enough, so why did you buy the book then?
Hi Christine....
You certainly deserve the roses and treats that "me" has professed not to have provided.... perhaps he's bluffing...
(He had better be...)
Or....
Perhaps he's gone one better and your Valentine's present is....
Franck....
That would make for a memorable day...
:D
Roses are red
Violets are blue
I love sidepodcast
And so should you {comment #1}
That's cute and very true :)
I loved SteveInTheUK's suggestion of gifts for Christine for Valentine's day which included, "weekend at a spa,"
Of course I loved it until I realised he meant a health / relaxation place. I thought he must have meant "a weekend at Spa!" ;)
:D
me, please check your email.
am thinking today would be a good day for scott to practice some of his best lines.
Oh, you think Scott’s the one that’s in trouble, do you? {Comment #7}
Maybe me just wants Scott to get good at talking to girls.
i can make a cupcake that looks like postman pat (if postman pat were drowning in a sea of icing sugar)? {Comment #20}
In that case, try a romantic pudding ;) . Cupcake with added candle in the middle. Extra icing is fine on Valentine's Day - it makes the pudding sweeter, which is what you want :)
She’ll never know…
The height of romance!
Oh. :D {Comment #31
The perils of putting a confidential idea on a (very) public blog...
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth of your articles
and for the sidepodpannels where I was christened Giggles,
For the lack of Bernie and of Max.
And for building a system for getting live facts!
I love thee freely, for the greatest podcast;
I love thee purely, for talking so fast,
I love thee with the passion of an F1 fan
For understanding community better than Bernie can.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
When Murry retired,—and through James I snoozed,
Smiles, tears, of all my life!—and, if Christine choose,
to call me on Skype, I won't refuse.
C’mon, you can do a lot better than that. Grab a cooking book and make a proper dinner {Comment #34
If "me" is anything like me, that would create a not-particularly-romantic mess (I have trouble cooking ready meals, let alone anything from a cookbook)!
I've just had a comment put in the mod queue for revealing my lack of cooking ability :(
Happy Daggle from a Streetpost Day, me! It's 08:25 am Montreal/Toronto/New York time.
Happy Valentine's Day, Christine and everyone else!
My sweetheart is a little annoyed at me right earilier today because she did not think it was a very smart more for me to place her gift on top of the alarm clock....
It got knocked over as someone tried to turn off the alarm clock this morning (ooops!)... Nothing got broken.
Personally, Dan, I think it would be highly possible that me would be able to to manage to sfart a grease fire in the water you are supposed to boil for noodles...burning down the building is never a good idea.
:D
I'm surprised no one mentioned it. It doesn't MATTER if you burn the cooking. You TRY to cook her something, burn it horribly, then you order pizza.
She loves you forever and ever just for trying to make her something. Problem solved.
I did once suggest that I would create dinner single handed. When challenged about the actual using of only one hand I said that yes I could and I ordered a pizza. Worked like a charm!
unless i nuke her kitchen in the process :)
I think you might need this: http://tinyurl.com/myfirstkitchen
:D
It's my fifth wedding anniversary today, so we are going to have a nice meal together and then go to the movies to watch Frost/Nixon. I bought my wife some DVD's she's been wanting for a while too ;-)
Hope you all have a fantastic day today!
Ah Frost/Nixon. The romantic movie of the year :)
All the way through the movie you're wondering will they won't they... Have the interview I mean. Cuh honestly!
Well they obviously did otherwise there'd be no movie about it ;)
Neither of us really are into Rom-Coms... especially on Valentine's day. We were going to see Valkyrie but we saw the preview for this and immediately both said that we would prefer to see that instead :-)
B'stard!!! You spoiled the bloody ending! ;-)
Oh come on, it was obvious! ;)
I heard there was a big twist! ;)
Yup. They hit an iceberg and sink.
Something to do with space aliens *hint hint*
And then Zombie Nixon breaks free!
So far for Valentine's Day, Mr C has taken me to the hairdresser... and got his own hair cut.
He's now talking about getting a takeaway tonight. I bet I have to make the call.
Perm?
Blue rinse?
You can smell the love in the air. Or hate, its similar difference.
We are out buying wine now. Things are looking up.
Excuse me for saying this but - oh dear...
Who thinks Me's gonna try and excuse himself just to go and buy a Valentine's card for Christine and "Claim he'd bought it ages ago" all along? :P
Hehe.
Sidepodcommunity - Foiling Mr C's plans 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Have to stop at the garage too. Any bets on fuel-stop flowers as well? :)
No flowers, but a Milkybar instead.
:D It's what we do best.
how romantic ;)
As I said - oh dear...
The height of chivalry. He parked too close to the hedge and I had to climb out the drivers side.
Not a Mars Bar? I wouldn't stand for that. ;)
I've got to admit, this 'Valentine's Day Special Sidepodtour' is rather entertaining.
He's not very good at this, is he? Just like Top Gear - ambitious but rubbish. :P
And then some. :D
Surprised no one's already said it but...
The Milky Bars are on Me
Shouldn't that be "all over Me"? Think it will be in a minute...
There aren't enough smileys in the world.
I don't think even in this universe.
I think we have a new nickname for Mr C
The Milkybar Kid
Well he does wear glasses (as far as we know), so he's halfway there already ;)
...Unitl "me" has to unscrew the cap off. :P
He's just stolen some of my Milkybar.
...I'm speechless.
He says the Milky Bars are IN him. :)
How come you did not climb ou the window like they do in NASCAR, Christine....?
Speaking off food, I should update my blog.
Into a hedge?
If he wanted some Milky Bar, why didn't he buy his own?!
I think perhaps I overestimated the situation when I said he bought it for me.
Wow! That close? I just thought that you could not open the door and have enough space to get out of the car.
Not to condone TMK's actions but it does always taste better when it's someone elses
TMK? Eh? :-/ This is Mr C, though, right?
The Milkybar Kid
Ahhhh! Makes sense, yes. :P
Yup, although, TMK (The MilkyWay Kid) really does not go to well when you are listening to the theme song from the movie "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly"....
The milkybars are on me Bassano!
Excellent excellent stuff! :) :) :)
Loving the updates!
Somehow, the silence is more worrying than the strange SidePodValentine updates
Back home now, and a brief respite in the non-stop romantics whilst we sit at our laptops.
I thought he mentioned pearls... he was talking about coding.
Sorry, the rugby is on and Sackey has just scored for us, 9-5 behind awaiting conversion.
That wasn't him, obviously.
hahahaha :)
haha, aw, what a disappointment.
You are both wrong! Pearl Jam was on lastfm! :D me loves them!
$Christine =~ s/Bare Neck/Neck with pearls/g;
all of them? how many bare necks does the girl have?
Alex. Please re-compile and execute your Perl code. I think you are about to give Christine either bugs or viruses. :P
Right, I'm off out to some friends for dinner
Catch all you lovebirds later, have a good evening all
Bare necked ladies.
:)
Globally around the world I meant... ahem!
;)
Somehow, on Valentine's Day, I am being asked if I saw Danica in Sports Illustrated. This man is clueless.
:)
Oh dear :) He is lovely in a rather clueless way though I am sure :)
Right Katherine and I are off out for dinner! I would live comment from the restaurant but I'm sure I would get in a lot of trouble!
that's what bathroom breaks are for?
And there I was going to the toilet like a sucker (To sort of quote Homer Simpson)
:D
i meant for the times when he's left at the table with just a menu for company ;)
Ah.
Going to the toilet works as well.
Damn the rugby is good, had a good chance for a try to level the scores. Lineout Wales right in their corner.
i'm gonna pretend i know what your talking about and just nod and smile ;)
:D
Basically, we can beat the Welsh at a sport they are actually good at.
That's our me. Genius.
Anyway, I have to go. Taking the gal out for Mediterran food. I know that its only 2pm locally, but dinner's at 6 pm in Montreal, and it is a least a two hour flight. Add on the extra transit time to and from airports plus I the fact that I will the gal to fly the bird and I think we should have left about 30 minutes ago....
Just to try things into F1 and lessen the blow of the bill, we are going to JV's restaurant in Montreal ==> Newtown.
oh i see.
Everyone is going out aren't they.
Apart from Mr and Mrs C of course.
I'm not.
Oooh, I hear dinner being served. See ya all in 10
i'd go out, but i'm single, and wouldn't want to sit in a restaurant on my own. Much prefer to stay at home and have a take away with the rents ;)
I didn't even realise it was Valentiens Day till 7pm!
...6pm even. I'm an hour ahead of myself... never good.
lol :) look on the plus side. you've just gained an hour ;)
:D
I was thinking it was tomorrow at first...
why didnt I think of this in work! :)
am waiting for christine to order take-away.
Oh you did not just say that! :P LOL
next you'll be saying she is paying for it...
ahh, now that i can do. although i did buy the chocolate.
at least that's something.
oh dear ;)
Now now, that was only 60-70p. A takeway is about 10 times that.
Oh goodness, i sooo hope team Brackey have everything sorted if this is true
"The paper added, however, that the current Honda team management still had to convince Mercedes that they could pay the 8 million euro (7.15 million pounds) fee for an annual supply of engines and could have only 10 days left to do so."
Still i suppose 10 days is a long time... kinda...
link
apologies if this has already been mentioned i've been doing a million and one things the past couple of days and could have missed it.
deadline after deadline after deadline. I wish we'd just got some conrete news and get it off the fans shoulders :(
Links? ;)
You know, if there WERE news, we'd have known it by now. Truth is, they'd tell us at the earliest possible time. But while everything isn't sorted yet, they're not really in a position to say anything. And that leaves us with leaks, which may or may not be reliable.
It's on the SI website.
Yeah I know, I wasn'ty really clear in what I meant there so sorry. I wish we actually had news rather than the leaks/rumours you mention, but it just seems everything we do hear just seems to have a deadline involved and then nothing gets heard about said deadline when it occurs, I can't remember hearing much after the apparent Jan 31st deadline they had now I'm thinking about it although I've been mega busy for the past 2 weeks it may have past me by.
Looks like Shania Twain to me.
They know what they're doing. They'll be fine.
well that's gone and ruined it.
well you did make her order the take away ;)
i know.... i can't help worrying though.... i'm very good a worrying... ;)
That don't impress you much.
(Uh uh uhh!)
Twas on purpose, I tell ya! :P
Goodness me. Hahaha! I prefer Carrie Underwood to Shania Twain any day.
nah, i'll do it in a minute. she really doesn't deserve me...
:)
:)
great! i spend an hour editing a photo together with photoshop, i click save and the flipping think crashes.
i mean *thing* obviously.
:(
we've all been there, such an annoying thing to happen
Same. On my old computer, Photoshop always used to crash when I was in the middle of photoshopping cars.
If I may ask quickly, what version of photoshop are you using lou? I've always used Photoshop 7 and I can't say it's been anything but a delight with performance. Unless it's your laptop being evil to you again ;)
Happy V.D. everyone!
(Obviously I mean Venereal Diseases, not Valentine's Day - or is that the other way around?)
Sorry for lowering the tone! :/
Am using Photoshop 7. my laptop has been okay so far today (there i go jinxing things again) tbh i think it had something to do with the number of layers the piece has.... maybe 28 is enough?... ;)
I have CS3 ;)
grrrrr. ;)
Downloaded from Limewire of course, but shhh about that ;)
lol.
Cs3 drives me mad. Well, 7 onwards... I can't explain why, they just do. I feel at home on 7! :)
Takeaway is on it's way, and I have not had any hand in it. We are making progress.
Congratulations!
Yay! What kind of takeaway. He hasn't fooled you by instead turning on Ant and Dec has he?
:)
I don't suppose there is a lot of romance in Valkyrie although I hear Max shed a tear when Hitler survived.
Shhh.... ;)
I didn't mean for you all to be that quiet!
Hehe, I'm just writing a blog post. I'll tell yas when im finished.
haha :)
You have the power! :)
soz was eating. what course are you on now?
The good news - my laptop problem is definitely a RAM issue. The bad news - I've just lost the entire piece I've been editing all evening. I may cry.
So what did ya have?
umm. this may not be the best time to ask, but given the stability of your equipment, it surely couldn't hurt to save once in a while?
I'll be honest, the blog post I'm writing, if I lose all of that, I'd also cry.
That is never what someone wants to hear when they've lost work.
agreed. can i recommend you save it?
sorry. i save things, on average once every 60 seconds. i don't remember the last time i went more than five minutes without a quick apple+s.
i don't need to, but it's a good habit to get into.
Thankfully it autosaves, so I need not worry.
i do. i save it really regularly. but i was moving the file into a different folder (on my external hard drive and it came up with a message about not having enough RAM and the laptop crashed. i turned it back on, and it had disappeared from it's original folder and wasn't in the other file either. I shall now desperately search my my photos hoping that it is there instead....
I do that. I even do it in apps where you can't save anything and I get boxes popping up with odd messages in them. Eventually you lose enough stuff that you get paranoid about saving. Then you never lose much until your back up system dumps a whole years worth of stuff in one go.
i save on average ever 15mins when editing... but when you get up to around 45 layers it takes ages.....
ahh apologies. in that case in future you copy rather than move? it's not guaranteed, but there's a better chance your file will remain intact after a crash.
you can delete the original once the process has finished.
in future can i suggest? that wasn't an order or anything :)
forty five? on a laptop??
http://drobo.com/
Stop suggesting things when it's too late.
no-one asks me before it goes wrong :(
hehe :) i normally do, but it was being very very slow, i wanted to do it as quickly as possible. i was foolish.
yeah... i'll show you what i'm up to when i finish it ;)
tis cause there isn't a need to ask before it's too late. ;)
Good news! i found the copy of the file i made an hour ago... however when i try to open it i get - 'could not open because the scratch disks are full.' anyone care to translate that for me?
Alright then, it hasn't happend yet, but what if my blogging tool decides to stop autosaving and then crashes losing all of my work, say the equivelant of 3 pages?
i think photoshop assigns some of the disk as a temporary location to store changes when the machine runs out of ram. i would imagine somewhere in the settings there's an option to assign scratch disks and one of yours is out of space?
just guessing though.
right, so what do i do?
a) what's your blogging tool?
b) can you "save as.." or "export?
c) can you publish online as a draft, which no-one can see except you?
have a poke around preferences / settings and see if one is assigned.
what version of PS are you using?
erm... okay...
7
omg!!!!!! my laptop fixes itself... it now works, and i can open the file. phew.
a) It was Live Writer before it decided to go walkies and now I can't reinstall it as it says I still have it even though I'm sure I don't. So I just use the standard Blogger one.
b) yes I can. But personally, I tend to forget to save. Bad habit of mine. Hence why I think autosave is the saviour of earth.
c) No, I can preview it but not publish it without closing the entire site.
nice one. it does sound like you're running low on disk space though.
Mr C really can fix everything :)
worth figuring that out. best blogging tool out there.
don't do that!
:)
I know, I'm looking. Have so far accidently installed the entire 'live' set and it takes an age to uninstall again :(
Not since there is a fantastic new post especially ;)
yeah... monday is the day it goes to be mended re the RAM issue., and i need to take 2 months worth of photos off it and put them onto my 500GB external hard drive.
haha :)
are you sure the ram is causing issues? it could be you're flat out of disk space, leaving you with zero swap space.
We've just had some of the worst bushfires ever in Australia (in Victoria) due to the extreme Summer heat that we waited months for.
I plan a lovely romantic dinner for Zoe and I in a place called Panorama House which looks out, from the top of an escarpment, over the ocean.
It rains. The fog rolls in. We laugh and enjoy ourselves anyway.
RAM is causing me some issues. i don't think i'm flat out of disk space, i have 70GBs still unused...
ahh, ok. that must be a massive photoshop file!
Earlier in the day, we saw Clint Eastwood's latest - Gran Turino
If you don't cry in that movie, you are made of stone (or one of the annoying tweens in our session)
Then we paid stupid amounts of money for hot chocolate and pecan brownies in the Lindt cafe.
been watching on the news jeremy. glad you guys are ok. keep laughing :)
I really liked Gran Torino, great performance from Clint
Thanks. They are over 1000 kms away, and we live near the beach so we are safe. I'm am amazed at the generosity being shown to those who are doing it tough right now. Not just Australians, people from all around the world have contributed over $50 million even in these tough economic times.
If you have capacity RAM is a relative cheap way to upgrade and boost your 'puters capability
i've no idea what that means, but i think it's something to do with the make of my laptop... i've done some research and it seems that lots of different people have had the same problem. i'm never buying an acer again.
Christine - Any chance of giving the BATracer game a quick plug on tomorrow's daily post? We need a few more people.
Will do.
I'm not sure what's available for Windows, but have you tried any programs that test your RAM?
ALWAYS make two or more backups - burn to DVD, send to USB Flash Drive, External Hard Drive, Internet etc
Did your machine come with restore disks or just a recovery partition? Make restore disks now if you have that option.
U-oh, perhaps I should have done more research before I bought my computer.
Apple FTW!
I've drop.io-ed my valentines present to you all :P
i saw the road sign earlier and laughed, so had to take a picture!!
Unless you have the maximum amount of RAM in your laptop already then adding more RAM is generally a very cheap and effective way of boosting your computer's performance
a few of my friends have acers and have had no problem so i wouldn't worry. It seems to just be this model. it's been fine for a year anyway ;)
oooh right. thanks.
i do really want a mac now, you guys have all managed to persuade me, unfortunately dad says they are too expensive and i can't have one any time soon. He says i can possibly get one before i go off to uni, but that's a whole year away.
This is being touted as the world's best complaint letter. It was written to Virgin boss Richard Branson after a particularly awful in-flight meal.
Had me in stitches, enjoy
best passenger complaint letter
I don't :) Don't give in to the peer pressure!!!
Works best if you refer to the pictures in turn as you read :D
No Lou, stay with the good side, go to xp, its not costy, not at all...
Link isn't working?
just delete the last //
This is the second link I have gone to from this site recently that shows up as a broken link. The problem is there are two slashes after .html As soon as you take them out the link woks
Ahh, ok. :)

It's brilliant :D Just brilliant
The refurb store is a good alternative and are tested more heavily than a new machine. Is probably more accurate to say well spec'd than expensive as you get what you pay for. Apple don't make, low-end "cheap" machines but you will not need to upgrade nearly as often as a windows based machine
i do have XP on our desktop, and i do like it.... it's just... mac books are sooooo pretty.....
I read somewhere about a week ago when this first came up that Branson had hired the guy to sort out the food that was served on his planes.
Good news Mr C, managed to get Live Writer again. One is officially happy that their just so happend to be a update needed for it.
Yeah, that was my fault sorry.
Probably had tears of laughter in my eyes after reading the article
I.LOVE.THAT!
Somehow, on Valentine’s Day, I am being asked if I saw Danica in Sports Illustrated. This man is clueless. {Comment #170}
Me isn't rehearsing in secret for the next Mr Bean film, is he?
Everyone is going out aren’t they. {Comment #182}
I don't have a significant other (and don't want one, so don't feel sorry for me). My parents decided to have a Chinese takeaway from the excellent Chinese-cum-fish-and-chip-shop in the next village. So I stayed in and enjoyed it with them. Let me tell you, the combination of wandering dragon (or wandering saltpot as Dad nicknamed it) and lemonade is unforgettably good. The cheesecake that followed was really nice as well.
Still i suppose 10 days is a long time… kinda…
deadline after deadline after deadline. {Comment #198}
It's more like snoozeline after snoozeline after snoozeline. Hopefully ex-Honda will be rescued before the snoozelines are interrupted by a real deadline.
I had Chinese tonight too and it was most excellent, we picked up the delivery from the restaurant and it was a Valentine cheese-fest in there. Red hearts everywhere, each table with a red "I Love You" baloon on a stick (?)
Still, it was rammed and the food was superb. They'll never make interior designers though :D
Am using Photoshop 7. {Comment #218
I've got GIMP 2. Not quite the same league.
I know someone who was looking for a valentines card, the only ones she coul find all said "i love you" but she did find one that says "I like you alot" which made me laugh alot.....
Did you know, that amongst other things, Saint Valentine is patron saint of Epileptics!!
:D
No "you'll do for now" cards then?

The takeaway we used didn't have any space for special decor. It only just had room for the queue, much to my chagrin (despite ordering two hours ahead, I still had to stand for 20 minutes). Still, the food was worth it.
There once was a site called sidepodcast
Which discussed all F1 things that go fast
Christine is her name
and Me in the game
'twas these two made our love of these cars so last
Late, bad and....roll on season '09!
Here's something I want to share. For the younger folks, this might be the first time you'll see this. For the grizzly veterans (like Steven Roy), this will be a video of reminiscing. ;)

Oi! Apart from the unflattering description it is only about wo months ago since that vid was last linked here when we were looking for music with a racing theme.
It's not unflattering... is it? :D
On a serious note, I may have missed that link. Or, more probably, I forgot. Sorry about that. Still, maybe the others haven't seen it? :)
It's always worth linking things like that because someone is bound to have missed it.
That made me feel better. :) Thanks.
heck, i was just pleased it appeared without hitting the mod queue :)
Up already? Or should I be asking 'Still up'?
I think someone is going to have to clear a lot of server space for some of my articles. The latest one is 1500 words and the guy has just completed his second race. My aim is to keep it below 4000 words now but they are just so many things that have to be said. Maybe I should just write a book.
still up :)
am improving doohickey, sorta.
:D
there's no worries from our point of view, but feel free to split into a number of parts if it looks to be a lot to digest.
The Gilles Villeneuve piece for this week is 4500 word but it just flows from unbelievable event to unbelievable event and when I posted it before I expected a lot of negative comments about the length. It was originally meant to be 500 to 1000 words and I mentioned that had I not started chopping stuff out it could have been 10-20k words and I got several requests for the long version.
The new piece is about a driver almost no-one hear will hav heard of and his story in many ways is more eventful than Villeneuve's so I am sure it will be an easy read and won't be a chore to digest. As with Villeneuve it is trying to find the bits I can skip that is the problem.
I must learn to proof read instead of typing faster than I am capable of thinking and then hitting post comment.
it's 5am, give yourself a break :)
all the above sounds good too, looking forward to it.
I am going to grab some sleep now. Don't stay up too late or you won't be awake to make Christine's breakfast.
hehehe. am calling it a night too ;)
Good night, Mr C, Steven Roy. :P
To the rest of Britain, good morning! :)
Morning all!
