Race day once more, and at Sidepodcast Towers that means nachos, plus the diet Coke I sent Mr C out for yesterday. What will you be enjoying today? Here are some of the things we're talking about:

  • The Brawn cars look to be in a pretty strong position for the race, particularly compared to their nearest rivals Red Bull. Button certainly seems happier than at the last few GPs, and Barrichello, well, he's missing his friends - as this awesomely titled F1 Big Pic tells.
  • The rumour is out there that McLaren will be retaining their sponsorship deal with Santander, or at least Hamilton will. The bank likes his profile in the UK, so will cough up for that alongside their Ferrari deal for next year. Seems a bit odd, but whatever works!
  • Twitter came into its own again yesterday, as the paddock worried that Barrichello may have to have a gearbox change and therefore suffer a grid penalty. He tweeted that it was all fine and there should be no problems for the race. Communication WIN!

That'll do it for now. Please join us in the live comment for the race, and the Parade Lap beforehand, which should start about 11am UK time. I'll see you in the comments.

Reminds me of the time both Ferrari and McLaren had sponsorship money from Philip morris c/o Marlboro. It can be done.

That said, are banks the new tobacco for F1?

In the early 80s both McLaren abd Alfa-Romeo had full red and white Marlboro livery. The Alfas had red noses so you could tell the difference

    Indeed. Still rather confusing, though...

    Or.... Hamilton to Ferrari!

It may be that Santander haven't put any enough effort into their rebranding of Abbey and B&B and have lost quite a few customers...

I don't understand why everyone is asking about this multi-team sponsorship - has no one spotted the similarity between Red Bull and Torro Rosso?

  • Gavin Brown (RubberGoat)12/09/2009 at 23:17

Right guys, Qualifying analysis from Monza (and finished before the end of MOTD ;) )

Tried to write it while watching 'Gran Torino' but that film was just too good!

I don't understand why everyone is asking about this multi-team sponsorship - has no one spotted the similarity between Red Bull and Torro Rosso?

But that's because they own both teams. Kinda different, if you ask me...

  • Steven Roy12/09/2009 at 23:18

    Or.... Hamilton to Ferrari!

They have a spare seat if they are allowed to enter 8 cars

I don't reckon I'll get any, I seem to already operate on European time ;)

the secret to avoid jet-lag is to sleep just a couple of hours the night before because you're making the luggage, and then sleep really badly during the flight. your body ends up so confused after that it doesn't matter the change of time zone :-)

(at least, it works for me...)

  • Neil Denham13/09/2009 at 08:05

It may be that Santander haven't put any enough effort into their rebranding of Abbey and B&B and have lost quite a few customers...

:D I wonder what Neil will think of all this...

Well, in my opinion (and not speaking officially at all!) Santander are pleased to drop the Abbey and B&B brands, Abbey has a history of terrible customer service, and B&B is a failed bank - Two things the company is sure to want to move away from I am sure!

Will be interesting if they do duel sponsorship, if Mclaren wins we get congratulations messages on email and intranet at work (bizarre as it may sound!), but what if Lewis beat Ferrari for instance, or worse still he took a Ferrari out the race, I wonder how they would deal with that?

    Anyway, Morning all!!!

  • guille2306 (in Hamburg)13/09/2009 at 08:05

  • Alex Andronov13/09/2009 at 08:33

As it's parade lap morning... we really want to see those predictions...

What's going to happen this morning?

  • Amy13/09/2009 at 08:34

What's going to happen this morning?

Clearly Heikki is going to win.

  • Amy13/09/2009 at 08:35

Clearly Heikki is going to win.

oh and the rest of the podium will be Kimi and Rubens for the official Podium Of Awesome.

  • Paul13/09/2009 at 08:36

Serena Williams - I didn't think she could be any less likable. I am amazed

  • Alex Andronov13/09/2009 at 08:36

Brought to you in association with the official Podium of Awesome - other podiums are available

  • Paul13/09/2009 at 08:36

    who is rodd? ;)

    A-Rodd?

  • Alex Andronov13/09/2009 at 08:37

Serena Williams - I didn't think she could be any less likable. I am amazed

That is an out there prediction Paul.

    What car is she driving?

  • Scott Woodwiss13/09/2009 at 08:37

Good morning, you lovely lovely people :D

  • Amy13/09/2009 at 08:37

Serena Williams - I didn't think she could be any less likable. I am amazed

I am so happy for Clijsters because I LOVE her, but the way her win went I feel sorry for her. She was clearly going to win anyway, but she didn't get to celebrate because Serena went nuts.

  • Paul13/09/2009 at 08:37

    What car is she driving?

The naughty car, if you saw her performance

  • Alex Andronov13/09/2009 at 08:38

Good morning, you lovely lovely people :D

Morning Scott... ready with a ready prediction?

  • Christine13/09/2009 at 08:38

I am so happy for Clijsters because I LOVE her, but the way her win went I feel sorry for her. She was clearly going to win anyway, but she didn't get to celebrate because Serena went nuts.

    Oooh, what have I missed?

    Morning all.

  • Paul13/09/2009 at 08:38

I am so happy for Clijsters because I LOVE her, but the way her win went I feel sorry for her. She was clearly going to win anyway, but she didn't get to celebrate because Serena went nuts.

Indeed. She seemed a bit bemosed by the whole thing

  • Paul13/09/2009 at 08:38

    Oooh, what have I missed?

    A tantrum

  • Amy13/09/2009 at 08:39

    Oooh, what have I missed?

she gave away match point in her semi by threatening a line judge who foot-faulted her (incorrectly, as it was)

I believe her words were "I swear to God I will shove this ****ing ball down your ****ing throat"

  • Paul13/09/2009 at 08:40

Can I possibly tip Heikki again? It hasn't worked the last two times

  • Christine13/09/2009 at 08:40

she gave away match point in her semi by threatening a line judge who foot-faulted her (incorrectly, as it was)

    Crikey!

  • Amy13/09/2009 at 08:41

if its you jinxing him then no, no you can't :D

  • Scott Woodwiss13/09/2009 at 08:41

    Button

    Hamilton

    Barrichello

    Sutil

  • Paul13/09/2009 at 08:42

if its you jinxing him then no, no you can't :D

Righty ho. I will get on with tipping others for the loss then

  • Christine13/09/2009 at 08:42

F1 track commentator Bob Constanduros is promising to break his 'Champagne!' record on the podium after today's grand prix. Look out for it

    Stopwatches at the ready then?

  • Paul13/09/2009 at 08:44

Since I am not RG, I will tip 1 to 3, with an unlucky fourth:

    1. Button (he's back baby)

    2. Sutil (haha Fisi)

    3. Kimi ( he will be invisible again, but still podium)

    4. Heikki (will you ever live up to potenial?)

  • Paul13/09/2009 at 08:45

Is Nick here yet? I want to gloat about Cricket

  • guille2306 (in Hamburg)13/09/2009 at 08:46

    Awesome!

Did we think he was away in Spa somehow

  • Scott Woodwiss13/09/2009 at 08:48

Start prediction: Lewis will get the best start, Kimi will jump Sutil using the KERS, Kovi will try to follow but get held up behind Sutil, the Renaults will make up a few places using their KERS too, Vettel will bog down and fall back and Button will jump Rubens and get his nose up the inside of Kovi into Turn 1. :P

  • Paul13/09/2009 at 08:48

    Morning gang :)

    morning

  • Scott Woodwiss13/09/2009 at 08:49

    But will Rubens go forward?

He'll stay roughly where he is.

  • Paul13/09/2009 at 08:50

He'll stay roughly where he is.

So he'll forget to put it in first again?

  • Scott Woodwiss13/09/2009 at 08:51

So he'll forget to put it in first again?

    :D

No I mean his start will be fine but he won't really make up any places. I'll say he might have a look at Kovi too while Button's hustling him into Turn 1.

  • Paul13/09/2009 at 08:52

  • Scott Woodwiss13/09/2009 at 08:53

  • Amy13/09/2009 at 09:05

It was 31 degrees here today. I'm not quite ready for the middle of summer yet!

the trick is to sleep all day and miss it. Yesterday when I woke up in the late afternoon my facebook was covered in peoples status updates along the lines of 'Summer has arrived in Melbourne! It's 30 degrees!'

I missed it all. Sleep rules.

Is Giggles a roving reporter now? :D

  • Jeremy (GMT +10)13/09/2009 at 09:07

Do we have any Giggle'll fix it requests in the house?

    #giggles

Zoe would like me to ask you to fix it so that she can find a maxi dress that she likes at the right price. I'll tack a +1 onto that as well seeing as I'm paying.

She would also like it fixed so that the sales assistants in the store stop telling her that every single one she tries on looks fantastic in that pushy way that they do.

Remember that Christine is looking fro press releases from your Fantasy Racers teams. Mark them #FR

I'm not looking forward to this. For the second week in a row I don't have all of the top3 in my team

  • Steven Roy13/09/2009 at 14:31

I'm not looking forward to this. For the second week in a row I don't have all of the top3 in my team

That must be awful for you. I had 4 out of the top 5 till Lewis had his little booboo

  • Amy13/09/2009 at 14:45

#FR team El Switcheroo with no strategy other than 'pick who does well in FP2' moved up to 13th, although I cannot remember where I was last week. I am on the front page, and that was my only aim. Team Amy Racing, originally my main team, is 395th, the fourth ranked of my five teams. The only team doing worse is my team of Finns and Italians, which is not surprising considering Fisi, Trulli and Heikki haven't done much all year.

I'm not British, I just happened to be born here

  • gravit8ed13/09/2009 at 15:11

See, I'm thinking of it from the perspective that usF1 will actually generate interest in the sport over here. right now we've got nobody to cheer for right out of the box

  • gravit8ed13/09/2009 at 15:13

Not that I personally care that much...I mean, once they announce who they've signed for drivers I might make a choice to root for him(/her?) but it's like...I dunno...I've got to pick a driver from someplace I've never been. ANd from the outside, F1 is all about nationality (hence the whole italian driving a ferrari in italy thing)

  • Bassano Clapper13/09/2009 at 15:13

See, I'm thinking of it from the perspective that usF1 will actually generate interest in the sport over here. right now we've got nobody to cheer for right out of the box

See, I'm thinking of it from the perspective that usF1 will actually generate interest in the sport over here. right now we've got nobody to cheer for right out of the box

It will to some extent, but nothing like an American driver running well would. The USGP also needs to get back onto the calendar.

See, I'm thinking of it from the perspective that usF1 will actually generate interest in the sport over here. right now we've got nobody to cheer for right out of the box

I think it's different in markets where F1 isn't a sport that people watch. The national thing becomes a selling point. We're so used to F1 here that we don't need that extra incentive to watch/support any particular team or driver

  • Journeyer13/09/2009 at 15:14

    montoya made the chase?

yes he did. :D oddly enough, he's been NASCAR's Mr. Consistency - which is the complete opposite of his F1 stance.

  • Lukeh13/09/2009 at 15:14

The Americans are probably a bit more patriotic in their sporting heroes than the Brits

This is true. Look at when Tim henman was in wimbledon for example, the expectations of failure were always apparent!

It will to some extent, but nothing like an American driver running well would. The USGP also needs to get back onto the calendar.

Oh def. 100% spot on there. Nothing like a sport nobody's ever seen in this country eh? When I tell people it's the most-watched sport in the world they scoff at me

  • Bassano Clapper13/09/2009 at 15:15

  • Journeyer13/09/2009 at 15:15

yes he did. :D oddly enough, he's been NASCAR's Mr. Consistency - which is the complete opposite of his F1 stance.

I never could fathom why he left F1, I mean, other than a spotty record. I always thought he was a pretty driver and should have stuck around another couple of years. He scares the crap outta the NASCAR drivers cause he's so serious about it

  • gravit8ed13/09/2009 at 15:18

I remember watching his first couple of races and it was almost understood that the other drivers would try to take him out. It took a while before that stopped, but I havent been enticed to pay any attention since that first half season or so

yeah but now they take each other out on track. Its not as dirty as it used to be, and thus more boring, actually pretty sterile honestly. They get it done on the short tracks though, man they get rubbin fenders and stuff. 'rubbins racin' as that redneck announcer guy says.

    Ohh, and boogity boogity boogity

#FR The Adrenaline Junkies find its score ticking over nicely and whilst not threatening the top teams has made strong progress and find themselves 432nd despite missing the first two races of the season. The hope for the remaining races is to break into the top 300 and depending on results there is still hope that it maybe possible to catch Mr C.

I would only have had one driver to support if I was nationalist-bound - that was Jody, but as he drove for Ferrari and it was a long time ago it does not really count - he is an organic farmer now. My favourite drivers are Nick (because everyone passes him over as the Shaggy Underdog), Timo (because he is the Funny Guy), Nico (he always presents himself so well - kinda the Professional Guy) and Jenson (he is more Serious than he lets on). I sort have a soft spot for both Rubens and little Felipe - Rubens has a lot of Heart and Felipe a lot of Courage.

the leadup to the horse race - essentially horses and jockeys pushing each other for position at the start line can take (not joking here) more than one hour! and the tv coverage starts showing the news because they give up. the start occurs when a selected horse goes - everyone else is a free for all. so then the news stops and picks up the live horse race where its almost dark. hilariously badly thought out. gotta run. money running out and need to explore more tonight. will be on idfm monday night at 6pm paris time if anyone wants to listen again.

You should work in Europe :)

  • Lukeh13/09/2009 at 15:59

What was it about the demo that put you off?

I think it was the fact that DiRT was quite down to earth. True it wasn't a complete sim but it felt like it gave you a lot of options in terms of rallying events and types of ralying but it still felt like a rally sim at heart and I just loved everything about that.

With DiRT 2, the whole culture of X Games and a more arcadey presence is easily evident and I really don't like that :( The actual gameplay felt a little off to me too, visually it looks simply incredible but playing it felt... wrong? It just didn't feel like what makes DiRT just a good game to me.

  • gravit8ed13/09/2009 at 16:00

if only I could afford to GET there I'd think about it. I moved to florida thinking I'd be getting away from small-town hickdom, and moved straight into redneck central. With a bunch of very poorly behaved...minorities.

if only I could afford to GET there I'd think about it. I moved to florida thinking I'd be getting away from small-town hickdom, and moved straight into redneck central. With a bunch of very poorly behaved...minorities.

You should have some SidepodBeers with Joe in Fla

With DiRT 2, the whole culture of X Games and a more arcadey presence is easily evident and I really don't like that :( The actual gameplay felt a little off to me too, visually it looks simply incredible but playing it felt... wrong? It just didn't feel like what makes DiRT just a good game to me.

Personally, I don't really mind it. I just find the game a LOT of fun to play with the wheel. The way you can be nice and smooth at times does help. I just think the cars aren't really able to properly powerslide unless there's a lot of power. You try and swing it into a corner and power on and you either get understeer, oversteer, a loss of revs or a combination of those 3. There's no real in-between.

Brixton was like that, tis why I don't live there anymore :)

Just realised Motorstorm and NFS: Shift are both out on the 18th and Gran Turismo is out on the 1st.

I just d/l burnout paradise myself, havent gotten around to installing it on my pc. I like the free-roaming concept, but the game play is pretty thin for my tastes. Much prefer real-ish sims.

Wishing FOM would get around to licensing a real, decent F1 sim. I would be lost forever. You'd never hear from me again. ever.

F1 2010 will be on the PC ;) Codemasters have promised it will be a full sim. :D

  • RG13/09/2009 at 16:05

Or in 2009 for PSP and Wii.

One question, will 2010 also be out on PSP and Wii?

  • gravit8ed13/09/2009 at 16:05

You should have some SidepodBeers with Joe in Fla

he's a couple hours south, and I havent got much reason to go towards miami. I'd like to see a shuttle launch before they mothball it, for sure, but its hard to find people here who give a crap - they take it for granted. As well as the beaches, and the parks.

  • Bassano Clapper13/09/2009 at 16:05

    I'm sure they will.

I think they should include the 2009 season as a bonus in F1 2010.

  • Lukeh13/09/2009 at 16:06

One question, will 2010 also be out on PSP and Wii?

I can't see why not? Although if F1 2010 for PS3/360/PC comes out in March or so like some places are suggesting, I wouldn't be surprised if the Wii/PSP ones are November still like this year.

  • gravit8ed13/09/2009 at 16:06

looking forward to this very much. will probably have to upgrade the pc - was having trouble streaming the race and live commenting today.

Plus Turn 10 don't feel the need to include 35 different Skylines, 40 different Lancer Evos and about 20 different Imprezas. There's no need for that many!

  • gravit8ed13/09/2009 at 16:13

    Ah, good point

yeah really liking the idea of a decent public transportation system. I love to drive but cant afford something that makes it that much fun. I've lowered my car w/adjustable shocks and the like, stripped the interior to cut about 200lbs and done some minor upgrades to the engine but the windshield is cracked and the paint is peeling and someone hit my right front fender/headlight, etc.

used sparky for delivery of pizza for three years, still reliable as hell but showing the beatings I've given. :(

  • Scott Woodwiss13/09/2009 at 16:14

Brilliant fanboism! comparing games before they come out!

I'm not being a fanboy, all I'm saying is that so far Forza 3 has impressed me more than GT5 simply because there's more of a community aspect to it, it has features, cars and tracks that I like, plus the fact that I've had Forza 2 since it came out and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The guys at Turn 10 actually listen to the community and give them what they want. PD are now just about how many cars they can get into one game. I'm sorry but GT just doesn't impress me anymore. I look at it and know it could be and have been so much more.

Perhaps, but i dont think you can say what GT5 will be like, it hasnt really been shown off at all.. I have played a bit of prolouge and i realy enjoyed it, it is just an early (nealy 2 years pre-release) tech demo, so i dont think you can judge that so much.

It's really been a case of losing patience too. PD just can't stick to a release date. They just keep pushing it back and back and back. No wonder people are converting to Forza. It's taken PD 5 years. It's only taken 2 years for Turn 10 to make FM3 and yet it looks just as impressive and has everything GT has feature wise and more.

#FR Right… Have you all taken a deep breath? Because that was a FANTASTIC Italian Grand Prix – loads of overtaking and a return to the good old days of a strategy race-off between a fast car on a one-stopper and a fast car on a two-stopper.

Here are the Fantasy Racers Scores... How did your teams do?

Cross her toes. That's a lot less creepy. If she wakes say you saw a huge spider

  • Lukeh13/09/2009 at 17:48

Awesome! On online rallies, you have to wait in the queue as other cars in front go before you, just like in real life! :D

    Oooh. Nice.

  • Bassano Clapper13/09/2009 at 17:48

Do we think Force India's good spell will come to an end when we return to higher downforce tracks?

  • Nick13/09/2009 at 17:49

  • Steven Roy13/09/2009 at 20:21

    The power of the mullet

You could put kimi and Nico together and have two mullets

  • Alison13/09/2009 at 20:21

    The power of the mullet

Noooo he's definitely got uglier and greasier recently. But I don't spend my time wishing he'd fly into the wall so I figure that must mean I like him more :P

  • Bassano Clapper13/09/2009 at 20:22

You could put kimi and Nico together and have two mullets

Nico's is just long, it's not a mullet

It's all about the balls round here.

    Ooh er ;)

  • Alison13/09/2009 at 20:26

Why did you not like Kimi, cos he drives the prancing donkey?

No. I don't have Ferrari hatred. That's a bit before my time ;)

I just never got that attached to him and found him really irritating for a nondescript reason. I'm quite fickle about drivers I like though.

  • Bassano Clapper13/09/2009 at 20:26

I SO wished you said that on air :D

    For sure

No. I don't have Ferrari hatred. That's a bit before my time ;)

I just never got that attached to him and found him really irritating for a nondescript reason. I'm quite fickle about drivers I like though.

I don't like his attitude and the fact he always sounds like he is asleep and doesn't care. Even Finns think he's weird.

Thing is, he's not half bad as a driver though which is why I hope he gets a good car next year...

  • Alison13/09/2009 at 20:29

Who's your fave at the mo then?

Hmmmm I've gone off the fluffy one a bit.... I like Lewis right now or I'm also really rooting for Fisi.

  • Bassano Clapper13/09/2009 at 20:30

    #2 - Journeyer said:

The rumour is out there that McLaren will be retaining their sponsorship deal with Santander, or at least Hamilton will. The bank likes his profile in the UK, so will cough up for that alongside their Ferrari deal for next year. Seems a bit odd, but whatever works!

Reminds me of the time both Ferrari and McLaren had sponsorship money from Philip morris c/o Marlboro. It can be done.

That said, are banks the new tobacco for F1?

It could be said that both are similiar in that by using them, you are just burning away your money... :P

    [Parp!]

  • Bassano Clapper13/09/2009 at 20:56

That's a no then, because we don't do stalkerish.

    One's enough round here ;)

  • Alison13/09/2009 at 20:57

Not id you are going to say something like that

    :( :( :(

    Steven how could you.....

  • startledbunny13/09/2009 at 20:57

That's a no then, because we don't do stalkerish.

    what's her id?

  • lou13/09/2009 at 20:57

it's very cool you've asked her to be friends though :)

haha she probably just thinks i'm some random stalker person.. :D

this weekend has made me think even more about wanting to get into f1 though, it just seemed so amazing this weekend, and just seeing the paddock made me feel kinda sad that i wasn't there. plus seeing those camera angles that included the photographers, plus seeing darren heath yesterday... it just makes me all sad :(

  • Andy Taylor13/09/2009 at 20:57

    what's her id?

    :D

  • Scott Woodwiss13/09/2009 at 20:57

If I ever decide in my lifetime to do Pikes Peak, I want a Colin McRae R4 exactly like the Trailblazer version in DiRT 2. This thing is the equivalent of a modern day Group B rally car! Unbelievable acceleration! :D

  • Steven Roy13/09/2009 at 20:58

    Steven how could you.....

Just making sure. We still need a product and a business model.

  • Bassano Clapper13/09/2009 at 20:59

As long as you're cool about being away from home so much, it'd be fantastic

So what are you going to do about it?

  • startledbunny13/09/2009 at 21:00

Just making sure. We still need a product and a business model.

Not to appear on Dragon's Den you don't, judging on what they let in.

  • Nick13/09/2009 at 21:01

Just thinking about Grosjean possibly being a listner...

How about asking on a live show for feedback from youn up and coming racing drivers who listen and think they are good enough to make it to F1?

It could be interesting to see if anyone emails in then we can follow their progress through the lower formulee...

    Just an idea...

  • lou13/09/2009 at 21:01

As long as you're cool about being away from home so much, it'd be fantastic

well another positive was that while i was away on holiday i didn't feel homesick once. i was all caught up in the moment and stuff, even though i got some hideous AS results and it made me sooo upset, i didn't feel homesick, which is real progress :D almost 2 weeks away and everything :)

  • Steven Roy13/09/2009 at 21:02

Not to appear on Dragon's Den you don't, judging on what they let in.

If I am going on that program it is to get an investment or another benefit not to make a complete prat of myself

  • me13/09/2009 at 21:02

It could be interesting to see if anyone emails in then we can follow their progress through the lower formulee...

good idea, but jon's sort of doing that i think?

  • lou13/09/2009 at 21:02

So what are you going to do about it?

i have no idea! :( i have no idea what i want to do at uni..or how i would get to f1.... i've emailed some f1 photographers but no reply as of yet.

  • Alison13/09/2009 at 21:02

If I am going on that program it is to get an investment or another benefit not to make a complete prat of myself

    Cool

  • Nick13/09/2009 at 21:04

good idea, but jon's sort of doing that i think?

Ah right, i thought he was just the leval below f1?

    Maybe he can ask then?

  • startledbunny13/09/2009 at 21:04

How about asking if Mr C can ask Joe next time about how to get into F1 photography? He does seem know a lot.

  • Bassano Clapper13/09/2009 at 21:04

good idea, but jon's sort of doing that i think?

I ned to listen to his show tomorrow, it's waiting on the iPod

Good idea and he does have his own [e-]magazine

  • me13/09/2009 at 21:05

    Maybe he can ask then?

sounds like a plan. we're not the best people to talk to young drivers, we have no interest in anything beneath f1 unless franck's driving.

i haven't watched a gp2 race for two years and likely never will again.

  • Andy Taylor13/09/2009 at 21:05

How about asking if Mr C can ask Joe next time about how to get into F1 photography? He does seem know a lot.

I was going to say the same. You'd need some practice at other motorsport events (there are a couple of locations not far from you) as well.

  • Steven Roy13/09/2009 at 21:05

i've emailed some f1 photographers but no reply as of yet.

You have to pester people. Have you sent any pictures to any of them? Send them a dozen motor sport related pics and ask for advice. Go to a club race meeting take pics and pickthe best of them. Then send them off and ask how you could improve and what you should do after school.

  • Bassano Clapper13/09/2009 at 21:06

Ah right, i thought he was just the leval below f1?

    GP2, F2, Renault World Series

    Loads of stuff I think

  • Steven Roy13/09/2009 at 21:06

Hmmmm maybe it's not me you need to bring with you then :P

Your sales pitch is losing me. You need to say something good to recover from that

  • Bassano Clapper13/09/2009 at 21:07

    yeah thats what i meant

yeah i know.. the moment i'm able to drive i'll gain the freedom to take myself to those kinda things, atm i have to wait on mum and dad, who golf most weekends

  • me13/09/2009 at 21:07

I was going to say the same. You'd need some practice at other motorsport events (there are a couple of locations not far from you) as well.

dank's other half takes pictures at feeder series races and has been published in the redbulletin. might be worth doing something like that too.

I know we can make money with our business. We might not make it in the time predicted but I know we'll make our budgets in the end.

  • Steven Roy13/09/2009 at 21:08

That;s the kind of pitch we need

I think so. With a plan like that I'm confident we can get our investment of £300000 in return for 12% of our business (obviously not from Peter Jones, he's too tall to understand)

  • startledbunny13/09/2009 at 21:16

    http://www.feederseries.tk

Thank You. I've subscribed through iTunes, he's in the search if you look for "The Feeder Series"

Add it to my long long backlog of podcasts.

You have to think of all the photos you need to pose for. No point being in them with someone that tall

  • Steven Roy13/09/2009 at 21:21

Because we deserve it. So there

    We're Scottish. That deserves investment.

Just rejigged my Podcast playlist. Got TWiT from last week playing, then it's my Backlog of SPC content, then it's Jon's podcast. Then last week's Buzz Out Louds

Podcasts have replaced radio for me. For 4 years now.

  • Alison13/09/2009 at 21:26

I want to go on one of those cooking programmes. Looks like a good cookery course, which I'd love, without actually having to pay for it.

offer that for 95% of the business, slip some voting covenant's into the contract, transfer the money to a separate account then liquidate the company. Easy.

Apparently the best way to learn how to cook is to buy cookery books and cook everything in there at least once, even if you don't like the end product you will learn techniques and see ideas which work.

  • startledbunny13/09/2009 at 21:45

I don't think I'm really the one to judge! I pretend I can cook but really no, I can cook 2 items for show.... I let my bf do all the cooking. It doesn't matter when he's away, there's no-one to fool.

  • Andy Taylor13/09/2009 at 21:46

It takes toooooo long! I'm so slow at chopping and stuff. So to make simple recipes it takes like 3 hours!! I don't really have the willpower to persist.

Most things can be bought pre-chopped, to save time. And pre-cooked, to save time.

  • Andy Taylor13/09/2009 at 21:50

This is on GP diary too, a lonely hearts ad:

"Irish TV commentator, 61, seeks attention every two weeks. I say what I like and like what I say. I have an aversion to battery based energy recovery systems and tall Scottish men. Want to run your fingers through my hair? Let me put it on then. Photo’s to PO Box 37, Dublin, Ireland."

Ah. I'm not really a fan of pre-prepared veg. Seems ridiculous to me. I think I just see my dad's face in my head. He'd actually cry if he spied pre-cut veg.

    hehehhe

I have an odd cooking background. I'm not like most awful cooks in that I have a good idea about what things are and how you cook them etc. It's just that I have no practical skill.

My dad is an awesome cook and I wasn't really ever allowed to practice without ridicule at home! Then I left to go start studying and I don't think student budget was really the best way to be starting out as a cook. I began to realise how expensive all the stuff I enjoyed at home really was to cook!

  • Andy Taylor13/09/2009 at 22:07

Why would you put soya milk in a juicer?

You might put the beans in one.

  • Alison13/09/2009 at 22:08

    in a body-like sense?

Nah. I used to when I was a kid. Bad allergy issues. I got over it but now it's just habit. I'm properly veggie and basically have very little egg/dairy just because I don't really like it.

  • Steven Roy13/09/2009 at 22:08

We are going to make a soya milk juicer or are we just going to sell soya milk juice?

  • littlepurplegoth13/09/2009 at 22:10

It takes toooooo long! I'm so slow at chopping and stuff. So to make simple recipes it takes like 3 hours!! I don't really have the willpower to persist.

helloooo - have been dragged out of sidepodlurk (and baby is asleep....for now.... )

You sound like you need a mandolin :-) Or a nice Kitchen Aid processor with the slicing blade (and yes they will cope with turnips) just to add to the gadget cupboard :-)

Hmmm - is this the point where I admit to a (not-often-added-to-and-not-about-F1-or-space) blog???

  • Steven Roy13/09/2009 at 22:11

rofl... no, the other sort (the one with a v.v. sharp blade and not a piece of kit that I would ever sanction being used by children and any one called Mr C or who values their fingers - so not anyone who plays a mandolin then...)

  • Jon Waldock13/09/2009 at 22:15

Is this what the people at "will it blend?" use?

  • littlepurplegoth13/09/2009 at 22:15

I've had it for ageessss... hang on... u.... well, given that I deleted a load of stuff once, about um, 4 or 5 years (and a couple longer than that that are no longer on line...)

  • Nick13/09/2009 at 22:15

    I <3 soya

Hehe.. i have a V-gan step sister so i have learnt all about this mystical food...

(although being an adorable step brother my diet switches to 90% meat in her presence)

  • littlepurplegoth13/09/2009 at 22:16

Is this what the people at "will it blend?" use?

    No.

That is a vitamix - which costs half a thousand to buy new and is something that I will only dream of... besides, its not actually a lot better than a KA blender just that it has a tougher motor...

    Raw meat? And blenders?

    Are you Jeremy Clarksons alter-ago?

    V8 Powered blender anyone?

  • Andy Taylor13/09/2009 at 22:20

    You mean Mandoline?

That's the one. Note: "This is a dangerous utensil and food preparers may choose to wear a metal glove on the pushing hand."

Mr C will not be expected to use one of these on Saturday

  • littlepurplegoth13/09/2009 at 22:20

What!? where would you even get one without robbing a passing knight?

If it was a proper decent one it would take the glove and the fingers anyway...

  • Alison13/09/2009 at 22:20

Nope... I just like kitchen toys :-) (and dabbling in non-traditional food forms, like raw....)

Ah raw! Now that's something I can do. I do soup, I do juice, I do stir fry. That is basically all I eat.

  • Andy Taylor13/09/2009 at 22:20

    Are you Jeremy Clarksons alter-ago?

    Careful.

  • Jon Waldock13/09/2009 at 22:21

My parents had a grater once, that you turned a handle, and the vegetable (or block of cheese in my case) came out grated. Wanted one, but couldn't find one for years. Then in Matalan, I found one. No idea what it's called, but it's the best thing for grating without removing the tips of your fingers.

  • Jon Waldock13/09/2009 at 22:23

    Hows Mini Purple Goth doing?

  • Alison13/09/2009 at 22:23

Curry, ricenbeans, seitan, dahl, lots of 'end of the veg box' stews here

Although I do a mean line in cake.

You can make it chunky and chuck in pasta and call it 'xxx' minestrone :-)

Or thicken it and call it stew

Add pataks curry paste and call it curry.

Plus peanut butter soup is quite nice (although nicer if you use cashew butter instead)

  • startledbunny13/09/2009 at 22:31

Its not the jittery that's the sod though - its the paranoia as the jittery wears off.... then you will care that you are tired as the monsters jump out of the shadows behind you and the sock monster dares to come out from under the bed.....

  • Alison13/09/2009 at 22:46

Meh. It's not really! I kinda blend celery up to thicken it, it's supposed to be strained and then served as one of those clear soups but that freaks me out too much.

Exactly. BOOM is what could go wrong. Admittedly you have to break it down into its component aparts, but the Hydrogen in water makes a pretty decent boom!
