Hello there, me again! Many thanks to Gavin to publishing an emergency daily, but I'm here to fill us in on the details. What shall we do today? Let's have a list of ten things. Five Formula One items for discussion, and five not so F1 related.
F1 all the way
- Motorhomes. I like this F1 Big Picture, obviously, that's why I posted it. It makes the Mercedes GP motorhome look very welcoming. What did you make of the motorhomes this weekend? There were only a few that were particularly exciting. I quite liked it when there was a race on to have the best motorhome as well as the best car, but cost-cutting affects all areas of F1, I suppose.
- Rate the Race. Yesterday we posted the latest F1 Debrief show, and with it came our ratings for this race, plus a quick mention of driver of the day. After the episode went up, I gathered our findings in a post, which means you can let us know your rating and top driver as well.
- Joe has posted his thoughts on Turkey, and remains adamant that we won't be going back to the circuit any time soon. I can see what he means, but the track really grew on me yesterday. I suppose you can't base a ridiculous 17 year or somesuch contract extension on one race. Or can you?
- The debate over the new regulations that help overtaking rumbles onwards, and I quite liked this post from Autosport that gathered together thoughts from various people in the paddock.
- Also from Autosport, the excellent Paddock Life that talks many of the things I've mentioned here, but also Vettel being a bit naughty on the podium. Read on!
Outside motorsport
- Firstly, the big countdown to Eurovision is on. It takes place this Saturday, and we'll be live commenting and Factbyte Factboxing all the fun and games here on Sidepodcast. RG has some fantastic coverage on his blog, though, and recently listed why the UK could win. It won't happen, but yay for optimism!
- I'm not sure if we have promoted Lukeh's Summer Portrait blog here or not yet, but it's worth doing it again anyway. I think it's fair to say we were all stunned at the quality of the sketching, and it's such a nice idea. It makes me feel all happy and summery. I wish I could draw!
- I know I linked to this in the comments yesterday, but it is still boggling my mind a little bit. Samoa is going to skip a day in an effort to match timezones with Australia. I can see why they're doing it but are you really allowed to just wake up one day and say, nah, I want it to be tomorrow? Because I could make great use of that!
- If you like what you see when you come and read a Sidepodcast daily post, why not sign up to try your hand at writing one? We've got regular slots available but always welcome the one-off post as well.
- The last thing I will say is that I am away for four days now, and whilst I will still be popping in to Sidepodcast all the time, I am going to be leaving Mr C on his own. If you see him in the comments, make sure to look after him. You know what he's like.
That will do it for today. Again my thanks to Gavin for jumping in, and all that is left for me to say is to wish you a great day, and as always, I'll see you in the comments.
Ooh, thanks Gavin.
Continuing on from yesterday / today;
;)
It was an entry with a Brazilian F3 driver that - to be honest - I had never heard of, Vincenzo Guadalajara
The guy isn't even in Driver Database!! Although he started following me about ten minutes after I asked Midweek Motorsport who he was (they had no idea either)
'
You're welcome. Sorry it was a bit sparse, but I'm in the office and everybody can see my PC ;)
Ping: http://sidepodcast.com/post/deeply-daily
Are you happy to embellish a little later or shall I jump in?
If you could jump in that would be great. I'm going to be writing my usual daily with loads of links tonight anyway ;)
No problemo :)
Excellent work Gavin, if you see your post rated one star it's no reflection on you, it's just me struggling to tap the right place on the iPad screen. Next time Amy, zoom in!
Hehe I think it is a 1-star effort compared to my usual post and Amanda's usual Dailies for sure though ;)
That'll teach you to use to an iPad!!
;)
Have updated the post with some stuff and nonsense :)
Yay! Much better now :)

Oh no, beaks has quit Lotus
"*** BTT PRESS RELEASE *** - With a heavy heart, this morning I have resigned from my position at Team Lotus and will leave within 3 months."
http://twitter.com/#!/beaks_the_twitt/statuses/67878286075768832
:/
I'm not surprised by that oddly. No one else in F1 I follow goes on about how hard it is to leave their family behind so much.
Yeah, i thought the same, he did get quite homesick over the first few races.
Guess there is an opening on heikki's car for you though!
heheh I don't think so somehow!
Go on, how hard can it be! :P
You already have demonstrated your ability to handle an engine cover, so thats one thing you will have over other applicants :)
I also smashed it into the floor while doing so :)
Really?? You could conveniently visit the Red Bull garage on GP weekends then...
I'd put that down as:
"Have demonstrated ability to modify parts to increase performance though own initiative"
Morning commenters :)
morning bassano
Hey Leigh
How does you be today young sir?
Woken early by a phonecall this morning but other than that, just dandy.
And you sir?
Sorry Max
http://adamcooperf1.com/2011/05/10/mosley-beaten-in-privacy-battle/
Not too bad. In work. Tired
Unfortunate headline
...or well thought up.
:D
hiya
oo-er!
Hey Gavin, sorry I got your tweet a little late this morning. Thanks for the offer
No probs, saw your comment last night.
Ping! http://amysrunning.posterous.com/week-8-day-1
Ouch!
http://twitter.com/#!/H_Kovalainen/status/67912007961161729
it makes me laugh how sensitive he is about getting his name right, he's done that so many times!
I don't blame him, though!
my favourite was the time he corrected someone and they replied to apologise and spelt it wrong again.
aww :(

I Definatly should not find this at all amusing
According to reports from Istanbul, Sutil assaulted one of the LRGP owners and badly injured him after the Chinese GP
http://twitter.com/#!/f1enigma/statuses/67912406055133184
I wonder where he heard that?
He said he is hearing stuff from RAI TV and French TV but it's not being reported:
Is that the mysterious fight that no one talked about for three weeks that Hamilton was apparently involved in too?
Sounds like it.
Hard to discuss speculation (only GMM do that), but if it's true, Sutil can kiss his F1 career goodbye.
I'm not inclined to believe it, surely if it had happened it would have hit the news quicker, and English speaking media would be all over it.
Especially if Hamilton was involved. And I always assumed Sutil was the nice, non agressive type?
I am on a park and ride bus. Bit less complicated than last time. so far anyway.
oooh a bus. Good luck!
I used to love the park and ride bus!
there were comments in the race thread from mansell about this too. originally lewis was said to be involved:
http://sidepodcast.com/post/live-turkey-2011-the-race#comment-1088876
Yeah sorry I missed that discussion - thanks for the link though :)
I wouldnt think so, im sure its happened in the past,
Ive read Gerhard Berger used to be a bit of a wind up merchand and try to get drivers into fights for amusement
True, but we are in a PC era now.
Im guessing he wasnt arrested for it or we may have heard more. So a lack of proof for any sanction i would think
Let's wait and see, but a couple weeks ago Dimitris was perpetuating the rumour that Sonangol had become title sponsors of Lotus, so maybe he's jumping the gun again?
Hello all, can't stop but just saw this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13343600 Microsoft buying Skype - Good or bad?
Not sure what you mean by jumping the gun. Joe has mentioned the Sonangol angle, though, so it looks like there's something to it.
Yeah, f1 journos seem to know him, but he is a bit unreliable.
Then again sonangol reps were in the Team Lotus garage at the weekend
It has its pros and cons, but as a whole, more bad than good for me. I'm not sure MS will handle Skype the way they should. May also complicate things for non-Windows users.
In the office we think it is awful - Skype is already bloated enough. Also good bye Linux versions?
He confirmed it before the announcement in Duxford was made?
Far better than it going out of business, it was loosing money quicker than williams were sponsors
He didn't confirm anything final, but he did mention it.
http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2011/05/10/expanding-f1-into-africa/
Facebook and Google were sniffing around last week, but it seems MS outbid them both.
I meant f1enigma confirmed it, sorry.
Google would probably just plugged it into Gtalk. Heaven knows what facebook would have done with it!
None of these options are good really.
Plugged it into GTalk? More like renamed it GTalk. :D
Who would be your ideal buyer?
Somebody with lots of money and no plans to increase the bloatware.
Apple? They could have plugged it into facetime
Unfortuantly they are partnered with too many old school cell companies
Then you would see it disappear from Windows?
no, it would probably still be there, just not work properly and want to update itself every week :P
Like iTunes!
my ipad has updated its software each time I've plugged it in to my computer since I bought it.
Twice.
But still, does it really need to be a 600mb download each time?
I sync my iPhone once a week or so and it seems to have an update each time...
I avoid plugging it into the computer completly!
Once a week? I plug it once every couple of days. They only release updates once every 6-8 weeks.
I don't need to as I download podcasts and app updates via Wi-fi.
True. I do like backing up my phone regularly, though, which is why I sync.
:(
It's official: Microsoft has bought Skype.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/10/microsofts-acquisition-of-skype-for-8-5-billion-becomes-offici/
good for genii
$8.5 billion !!!!!!
What ?!
7 Bil + the 1.5 Bill debts i heard
"Microskype" :D
That's just absurd money
Erm... really? Why so?
Didnt they sell it for 2.6billion a few years back?
#OOps
lopez was an early supporter/investor. still has a hand in it i believe.
Sure explains how they beat out Google and Facebook. Looks like they overpaid to me.
I thought he sold out and funded genii with the proceeds?
at least now we can blame microsoft for losing steven's voicemail.
:D
i thought that was the done thing already
This has to be a joke, surely? http://www.crash.net/f1/news/169118/1/niki_lauda_film_in_pipeline.html
1.5 Billion in debt?
I'd heard that rumoured around
They give the service away free, make a tiny profit on the bit people pay for and dont serve any ads.
Odd. Don't know why theyre worth so much then.
Think Youtube.
They have a huge userbase and proven technology. Microsoft will probably replace/merge it with live messenger, and put itnto into xboxes.
Once they have it in the living room they can do a lot with it in terms of both ads and usage charges
*shudder*
users/people/names/numbers
they didn't want google/facebook getting all that potential advertising market, i'd assume. what did alex say they other day about free services selling 'you'? as a skype user, skype just sold your details to microsoft.
...and ours.
Live messenger is a pain, the sooner Its replaced or can connect to skype the sooner i dont have to use it and can be a happy bunny
A pain? I like Live Messenger a lot. A lot more stable compared to Yahoo Messenger, and FB integration is great too.
would also be true if Google or FB got the deal. actually, would be true for anyone.
Yahoo Messenger is Spam city.
I have a home phone that uses skype and I use it to make toll calls too, I wonder what will happen to that then?
I think Its not so much the details, which are quite limited compared to say a gmail or facebook account, but the goodwill.
A ready made customer base of people happily using a product is valuable, add in the tech that makes it all possible and microsoft can really grow it.
indeed.
MS claims they will keep Skype intact. I wonder for how long...
I would guess nothing. the costs might go up though now they arent looking to sell
Indeed. It's the #1 messenger here, though.
i wouldn't say 'happily'.
Ayrton Senna vs. Alain Prost, in go karts!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=related&v=D0Sg8it4ZbY
I remember that as a kid. It was at Bercy in Paris and it was kinda like a Race of Champions. What I couldn't understand was why this Schumacher kid was so quick...
i remember watching that live. They used to have a go-karting race of champions in Bercy, Paris every December to raise money for charity.
Shame they don't do it anymore, although Massa has his November kart race in Florianapolis.
Snap!
It was ace. On Eurosport if I remember correctly.
Of course, it says it top right in the video
(d'oh)
:D Ben Edwards on commentary too. I find the graphics format interesting, as it was what F1 as a whole was using at the time. Did Eurosport do the TV production for FOM at this time?
F1 graphics were done by a French company and they occasionally did Eurosport graphics in the early days too - can't remember the name of the company though
graphiques du techniques specials F1? :D
oooh, nice! learning new stuff today. thanks, leigh! :)
If I remember correctly, even the Tour de France had similar if not the same graphics too
No sweat Journeyer. Interesting, 1993 was last year of non-English graphics in F1
Non-English in the sense that they use the local language of wherever the race is, right?
Graphics were mainly Italian and later French, before switching to English.
In the early days, it might be local language, but the graphics were really basic - you might occasionally get gaps between two cars and the top twelve would be just the car numbers on the bottom of the screen
I used to love seeing that on TV.
phew!
Oh dear...
Just listened to last night's Trackside - Scott Speed essentially says that he's really happy try to qualify for the Indy 500, before letting loose with
Brilliant way to endear yourself Scott...
Ouch. He's right, though.
Hi all, just arrived to my Boston office, thought I'd goof off a few seconds anc check the thread ..
From my limited exposure to his mouthings while in F1, I'm convinced he suffers from Asperger Syndrome ... so be compassionate! ;-)
Maybe true, but you don't go on an IndyCar show on Indianapolis radio, five days before day one of the Indy 500 qualifying and say that.
points for honesty?
Points for the first crowd member that hits him with a Coke bottle from grandstand a on Saturday morning
i dunno, it's up to indycar to respond and say "we'll make the sport worth sticking around for". in some ways they have, cause he's there. they just have to do more.
True. Apparently he's already in for the Vegas $5m race
And with the prowess of an ex-F1 driver, he's one of the few who could actually bring off a dark-horse victory.
Not sure actually. I just don't see him doing that well for some reason.
My basis is just that F1 drivers historically have made big splashes when they come to Indycars. Seven-to-nine years ago, on CBS's Sixty Minutes, Michael Schumacher publicly turned his nose up at Indy, and pointed out that phenomenon to underline his disdain. He also said it was too dangerous for him.
There was also a rumour going that his wife said "no!!" in the strongest sense.
Anyway folks, I had best split for a while. Back later
Same here, got a business to run. Have a fun day.
So Mr C... Christine asked us to look after you while she's away... So before you leave work have you got money for your takeaway delivery man?
Oh Christ, what are we gonna have to do to make sure he doesn't starve?
www.dominos.co.uk
He just has to remember to take it out of the box first ;)
He did that on the 12 hour radio show so I think we're ok.
but I did like the reference :)
Sad to see that after the founder died the other week
Oh I hope they don't ruin it.
giggles, you are just too awesome. :D
To be honest if the deal was the other way round with skype being sold by microsoft to a bunch of venture capitalists because it was loosing too much money, i would be more worried
Heheh. He's right too, not that the Indy-centrics will like it one bit. And I thought Scheckter was playing the role of 'panto villian' this year.
Yes. But going to pretty much any of the companies you guys were talking about earlier would surely turn it into over-bloated unuseable tat over the next three or four years. The big companies do like to add all these pointless 'features'.
Hello all.

ah-ha. she's away? that explains why there's no-one at her desk.
I'll take that from a successful Formula 1 driver. If he was so darn good he might still be in Formula 1. But he's not. If he can't even get a Nascar ride, that's pretty sad.
I didn't say hello. Hello.
FWIW, Max Rufus Mosely will be on C4 News at 7pm, although I suspect there will be very little about the FIA.. :)
speaking of paddles... !
not really following the google-thing today, but:
Android @ Home lets you control audio and lights.
want!
Great stuff
can someone give Alex a massive comment hug when he next pops up? the cakes are so yummy! :)
Aww am waiting for dinner before I eat any. They do look very yummy though :)
Such an awesome surprise :D
am at uni, and we eat at like 10pm, needed something to motivate me to do my essay.
shoo?
Lucky @willbuxton
So to confirm, this weekend I will be taking part in the Mille Miglia in the 1955 Mercedes 300SLR, alongside Lord Mika of Hakkinen. Psyched!

Hello everyone :)
I've just noticed that the latest F1 Debrief is has been released :D
The 2012 IndyCar will be unveiled in less than an hour.. http://twitpic.com/4vyian
2012? That's quite far away.
I don't follow Indycar, so obviously I don't know how that world is supposed to be.
that is a lot of forward planning, but f1 announcing in december is arguably a bit late too.
They'll be testing it in a few months time.
oh wait, the car? sorry, assumed it was the calendar.
Good eveningtide :)
Yeah the car, or rather the 'base' of the car with two 'concept' aero kits which won't actually be raced. The test car will run in a few months, and teams will get their first cars in December/January.
Evening :)
Yes, that's true. But well, teams try to develop their cars to the limit, so I think it wouldn' help them a lot to have to focus on a new car in the middle of the season, knowing they'll be in the fight until the last races...
aha cake has arrived...
Sounds like I might have needed to send some to Mr C so he could fend for himself :)
i'm fine!
(ish)
That's good... #dayone :)
how many days are there?
and did i miss a memo?
4
Daily...
oh right, yup, didn't read that at all :)
It is a lot easier to be private if you don't keep sticking your face in front of TV cameras
https://twitter.com/BBCNewsnight/status/68016370339680256
I mean to say... it's in the daily... not to imply that you miss memos daily ;)
hehehehe
You can still get into trouble even though I am far away, you know.
and a tweet
My mini adventure begins! Four new alphabet destinations in four days. Road trip!!
he he :)
who gave her a mini??
oh cripes.
a) does it have a magic paddle?
and
b) does that blow the doors off?
Austin's Formula One truck is under construction.
No doubt it will be luxurious, but until then it will be like this: http://yfrog.com/h4dyv8j
Mmmm... this is the life...
http://www.flickr.com/photos/alexandronov/5707342361/
that beats chips from the chip shop!
That's a hard job.
But somebody's got to comment it...
are you sure?
your presentation is better :)
also, when did they stop using second-hand newspaper as packaging?

coming for the end of qualifying...

Um... quite a long time ago...
i love that he refuses to give an opinion, 'he's just saying'.
Ages ago, you got ink all over your hands
When the health and safety people decided it was unhygenic. A little bit of newsprint in your chips never hurt anyone
must've been after i met christine, or i'd have known about it? maybe i forgot.
doubled as something to read while you ate.
He is 3 weeks behind SPC on that
I think it's funny when you get chips in a cone & they've printed fake newsprint on the outside. Why bother? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Newsprint-Chip-Cones-Designed-Food/dp/B0046B9ME4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305052597&sr=8-1
It was more than a decade ago
...how long have i known christine?
7 years.
Seems like a reasonable number
Hehehe.
:)
Oh.My.Word. This is the new big screen at Charlotte. Dale Jr is playing iRacing.
http://twitpic.com/4vz17h
This isn't actually true I don't think... it's one of those weird myths... I think it's to do with recycling... Newsagents now get money for giving back non-bought newspapers whereas they used to have to get rid of them somehow and would give them free to fish and chip shops and florists.
But also once people started thinking it was about health and safety I think even more places changed because they were worried people would think their fish and chips wasn't safe because people thought, "well maybe there's something in it".
#sidepodspace underwater
NASA are building an underwater space rock for 'aquanauts' to practise climbing over. I think NASA wants to be Stingray
http://www.space.com/11622-nasa-asteroid-simulation-ocean-floor-neemo.html
is that the 'biggest screen' in the world?
http://lockerz.com/s/100510865
It could be.
I hope it doesn't fall over.
http://twitpic.com/4vysoa
What a great screen for gaming on. How is he going to get it into his living room?
You'd need a whole extra bunker
We'll see it in action soon, Charlotte is where Kimi makes his NASCAR debut next week..
In NASCAR they take this very seriously and it is interesting to note the latest innovation at Charlotte Motor Speedway where there will soon be the world’s largest high definition video screen, which will measure 61 metres in length and will be 24 metres high. Situated between Turns Two and Three, on the outside of the backstretch, the screen will be visible from the vast grandstands opposite the pits. The screen will consist of 158 panels with nine million bulbs, supported by a steel frame 100 ft high.
http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2011/04/04/learning-from-uncle-sam/
They always got money back on them but they only had to send back the top of the front page of each paper. I know someone who had to snip them all off.
I have an idea for fixing quali...
Q3 (as now) 107% rule
Q2 102% rule
Q1 101% rule
All disqualified drivers start from the back of the grid with those knocked out in Q3 behind those knocked out in Q2 etc.
Sorry yes... but now they take the whole paper back for reclycing
So a driver qualifies for Q1 starts behind those who failed to get out of Q3 but met the 107?
I remember Steven wrote a post named 'the end of qualifying'.
Three weeks later... http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/91312
That's Q1
Audience with Joe in Montreal

Unless you propose to rename them of course :)
I forgot I had written a post on that. I have Mr C disease.
http://sidepodcast.com/post/the-end-of-qualifying
Yes...
But as Pat points out with the names the wrong way around
I made a bobo
as endorsed by jarno trulli: http://sidepodcast.com/post/the-end-of-qualifying
booboo
See. It's too complicated
:) :)
:)
tricky thing the law of copying things from sidepodcast...
Single lap qualifying FTW.
Now I've decided to rename them... because otherwise my percentages don't work.
It only got 187 comments. You would have thought I would have remembered
:)
:D
I used to like that... And now the lower teams are more interesting...
I liked the year where it was in reverse championship order, which was pre-sidepodcast. That was great because
it really really really annoyed Schumacher....it evened things up quite nicely. But the TV people didn't like it.I sort of liked it but also sort of found it boring.
Wasn't it reverse championship order on a Friday, then reverse fastest for Friday's session? Although they did change it a few times.
Hehehe.
They changed it a few times yes.
I just think that while my system sounds mildly complicated everyone understands the 107% rule and it would mean that people would have to keep going out... And if they don't make it then they would have to start from the back and try and "do a Webber" in the modern parlance.
the simplest thing by far is reverse championship order. move friday practice to saturday and race on sunday.
And just kill quali?
I would suggest getting rid of Blue flags as well then
I liked it best at Magny-Cours when it rained just before Friday's session and then dried, and the fast guys had to go out first. It was on combined times Friday and Saturday, Minardi went into the next day with a 3 or 4 second margin which was how far behind they usually were, so they got the front row. Much fun seeing Schumacher, Ferrari and other flap around trying to get them put to the back 'for safety reasons'. FIA said 'No'. :)
Not just yet, you'll need them for Saturday...
#nothere
yeah.
why, they wouldn't be lapped?
True
although i was thinking that we probably shouldn't need blue flags in the DRS era...
Maybe the race could start in pitlane with cars leaving every ten seconds in reverse championship order.
F1 Debrief... Downloades. Transfering it to my iPod... Done. I'll listen to it tonight.
Have a great day tomorrow ;)
That gives Liuzzi a 4 minute head start on Vettel.
Perez gets a 3 minute start
Buemi 2 minutes
Massa 1 minute
Schumacher gets nearly 2 minutes too
yay :)
Perfect for a midfield win, go Rubens :)
Eeeeevening :)
Rankings today, any suggestions, I am all ears.
Evening folks
Hi Alison and Maverick
I loved Hamilton's optimism when getting ready to pass Button "What about P3?" - who needs Bernie's medals!
Apprentice is on on a Tuesday?
Hi Steven
That was worth points as was the racing between Lewis and Jenson. McLaren should also get points for allowing that
Two days this week
ah #SugarNeverToldMe
2012 IndyCar - *Concept* aero packs):
Oval - http://yfrog.com/gzfnzguj
Road - http://yfrog.com/h2oprbtj
Tad underwhelming
The oval car has McLaren sidepods
The airbox looks funny, a bit sticky-outey. Nose is quite wide too.
Why does Firefox 4 have the Open Link in Tab and in Window the opposite way around, I'm always clicking on the wrong one now
Almost a CDG rear wing on the road pack
I'm so tired. I tried to watch the race last night and ended up falling asleep.... Can't even blame Legard anymore.... Not sure it's worth another attempt.
The more I look at them the more they grow on me. Road course sidepods seem quite low.
I think it is :)
Tab first is more intuitive isn't it?
I remember Hamilton's wheel getting stuck and not much after that.
probably, but after years of it being second I just instinctively click on the second item without thinking or even looking
just change for the sake of change
it's weird, i don't even look, I just instinctively move the mouse right and down a few mm
dunno what it is in windows, but i apple+click and a link opens in a new tab.
it's only the nose I don't like
are the sidepods symmetrical on the oval setup? wondering if that curve up is replicated on the other side
that'd just be something else to learn instead of the order being 'wrong' :-)
it's one click less though ;)
one more key ;-)
ctrl-leftclick
Or middleclick on the scrollwheel which I usually do
we have a winner!
can't beat that.
Same, was expecting something a bit leaner.
I think so but that's part of the 'concept' section.
it's a combo of that and the height for me, low and sleek or high and wide not half-and-half
The road course front wing looks to my untrained eye like one from GP2 / Hispania..
http://www.indystar.com/article/20110510/SPORTS0107/110510010/ more angles
so if the road car picture also has the oval car in the bottom right corner... what's under the black sheet?
interesting, the third car under the black sheet is not in the new angles
I was thinking that it needs an Hispania paint job to really look the part
I wanted to know what that was too

They're going on Skype and Microsoft on BBC News and once again they have Steve Ballmer as the representative talking for Microsoft. *shudders*
Craziest anything ever.
Its going to revolutionize outlook i think
Oh no, I'm just on about Steve Ballmer! Somehow he scares me even more everytime he speaks
ah, dont worry about him, he is just bill gates 2nd attempt at a cyborg,
...the 1st was steve jobs :P
Watch this advert for Windows 1.0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGvHNNOLnCk
Remember that yes, that's Steve Ballmer and yes, despite this advert he still became CEO of Microsoft.
woah!!
...it had reversi!!
(That was slightly terrifying)
Evening All!
Hullo there sir
Lukeh, my boy, how goes it sir?
Not bad thank you, how are you mr aaron?
Ha, Ha, Mr Aaron, that sounds all wrong, yeah not to bad, Found Twitter again, oh and the Dohickey
Only slightly? He became the head of Microsoft for crying out loud.
I strongly believe that this is the reason that whatever Microsoft does to try and innovate always ends up a bit rubbish.
I went for a run earlier: http://runkeeper.com/user/RubberGoat/activity/34974650
WinP7? lol
Looks like a nice place to run around Gavin
It's not bad. It's the local park and I have a great view from the top (I can see Sweden). Also I saw a deer and a Pheasant the other day...
For another word on the IndyCar do read Pruett, his words are always carefully considered and more often than not he's bang on.

Awesome, great for you
Not sure I like the new car mockups. Too much like modern F1 cars.
I thought you said Swindon for a minute there, big hill :)
The F1-style front wing and other bits surprised me. I quite like the crossover between IndyCar and F1, be interesting to see if they all turn out that way.
Swindon, Sweden, they both have IKEA and Volvos...
Wasted too much time earlier, now need a kick up the bum to finish game scores. Cup of tea might help..
I'll have two sugars please pat :)
Where did you lose it? :)
Done.
Daily is done. Off to sleep now - I'm at a seminar tomorrow so see you in the comments in the evening...
I bet it was down that pesky couch
Have fun..
middle mouse button or pressing the wheel is the same on a pc
Pat way ahead... sorry everyone :)
Shift+Left-Click works for me in Win7+FF
Hello *waves*
Hi
If anyone cares for some Eurovision recaps.... http://northernwaffler.wordpress.com/2011/05/10/eurovision-sofa-semi-final-one/
#nothere
I've delivered 5 lambs today. #isproudofself
There's no IKEA in Swindon. You have to go to Bristol.
Wow, nice one :)
who too?
;)
Nice one Kathi. did the customers get the rest of their shopping?
I kid, sounds rather exciting!
top stuff kathi. we'd normally ask for pictures, but might pass this time!
Well done. Sounds like a rewarding day
shoo!!
:D
I always thought that was an odd turn of phrase for a birth :)
:P
I'm allowed a few hours off for this, right?
Also, good work Kathi.
ahh true. stay!!
But I wanna go to bed...!
I have some. They are a bit bloody. I will take some more of the older ones that are cuter and fluffy
right!!!
(not very good at this, where's christine?)
Today I've been doing my first sketch for years using 12 tones of pencil instead of just the one or two. Now I remember why I went to one or two.
"Oh how does this one look? How about this one? This is darker... this is lighter... ooh this is a bit more lighter... ooh that's too light..." and so on. Fun though. I think I prefer it this way in fact.
Tis probably the most unexciting train of thought but it's awesome when you get the right shade :)
Keep them away from Lukeh and his mint sauce, for a while.
Not allowed
can you wait a couple of weeks until the new ones are all cute and bouncy?
Not really. 6 lambs died today :( But none of mine.
Ahh that's not so fun. :(
That's not so good.
I don't think he would want them there is not much meat on them yet
I'll pass on this instance :)
The farm is expecting 1500 lambs. I'm sure I will have plenty of opportunities.
That must be a huge farm
930 sheep plusminus a few. And three workers. The owners and me.
No one tell Lukeh! ;)
Evening folks
Woah, big job
Ah, he's here already :D
Put the mint sauce away, sir!
We have a lot more staff for our 1000 cows, but they are spread across 5 sites, and you probably don't have to milk your sheep twice a day..
That sounds like a lot of hard work
I feel like there should be a police man outside with a loudspeaker shouting that :)
He can have Sunday off and then you can fill yer boots
NEW DAILY PING
http://sidepodcast.com/post/daily-11th-may-2011
They really seem quite easy to keep. The young and very old ones get special attention but the rest are thrown outside and just get a hay bale now and then (we don't have any green grass yet just mud and snow)
I'm being roped into delivering horses at the weekend
won't be that many but they always arrive at the most antisocial hours
Cows are a lot fussier about what they eat
Plus they want their milk back. Cravendale have caused havoc.
Has this suddenly become an animal midwifery site?
I'm more worried about cats with thumbs
#sidepodvets
SidepodFarm Watch?
Vets in Free Practice :D
:D
Also I guess if it goes wrong there is a lot more emotions and money involved as with lambs. But still Horsies!! #dreamyface
Do you want to know details?
I'm just very, very happy to see the Dulux dog back, and with the Littlest Hobo theme to boot
Is that a request for photos of newly born horses?
No thank you. You can't ride those
That would be a little cruel when they can barely stand. The trouble with horses is that they have no brakes and they want to drive. 5mph on a horse is scary
You pull on the strings. Like with a soap box(?)
I have only been on a horse once and regardless how hard I pulled the strings the horse went wherever it wanted. Unfortunately where it wanted to go was to lean over a bridge above a motorway. No soapbox would do that
!!
Sitting on a horse walking across the bridge was uncomfortable. When it decided it wanted to go and lean over the edge and have a close look at the traffic it was way scarier than a race car swapping ends at close to 100mph
you better be planning to author some memoirs.
Why?
Meant to say: Avoid suicidal horses in the future and you should be fine.
The horse was homocidal not suicidal. It was staying where it was it just wanted to dangle me over the edge of the bridge.
Because you have had lots of interesting stuff happen to you, and you still ask that. ;)
Not interesting enough to be worth a book.
just showing you who's boss, nothing to worry about
Until you are FIA President :D
That would be a lot harder to become now that Todt is doing a sensible job :)
Surely that won't last, it just wouldn't feel right :D
A US Senate committee met with representatives from Apple & Google earlier today to listen to the issues and facts over location data from the companies' mobile phones. Apple's Vice President of Software Technology, Bud Tribble was their to answer Senator Al Franken's questions
Not sure how contentious this was but am expecting at least one tabloid headline in the US media tomorrow along the lines of: Trouble With Tribble :D
