Wimbledon 2011: Day 5

Despite the rain we had another fabulous day of tennis yesterday! A match of epic proportions as Soderling defeated Lleyton Hewitt in 5 sets, a 3 set match with an emotional Sabine Lisicki knocking out the number 3 seed Na Li and of course the straight set victory of Roger Federer. Djokovic, Tsonga, Del Potro, Robson, and Serena Williams were amongst other high players to snatch a victory despite the rain.

Jamie Murray also won his double’s match yesterday with Sergiy Stakhovsky (despite hitting him on the ear with his serve) to play on court 16 for his second round match. Good luck to him!

In other Murray news, Andy is set to play today on Centre court, but who else is set to play?

You’ll all be pleased to know that at the time of writing the only rain due to fall over SW19 today is in the late evening, lets hope it stays that way so we can have a clear day for more wonderful matches! I’ll be keeping my eye on Caroline Wozniacki’s match first. As the ladies No. 1 seed if surprised me to learn that she’s yet to win a grand slam! I’d love to see her win one soon though, so fingers crossed for Wimbledon!

I’ve also been spending some time over the last few days compiling a tennis twitter list. If I’ve missed anyone please feel free to point them out, but hopefully this will help to provide another level to the coverage of this and future tournaments for you all!

for those playing at home, after queueing super early my friend was #273 in the queue, so there were #272 people sillier than her :)
