After what was an incredible and exciting Saturday, it's time for another day of medal possibilities. Coming up today, there is athletics action, particularly the marathon. We have the Men's Omnium in the velodrome, as well as some springboard action at the Acquatic Centre. Other finals include the fencing, individual events at the gymnastics, sailing, shooting, weightlifting, Greco-Roman wrestling, and there are tons of tennis medals up for grabs too!

  • lou05/08/2012 at 09:18

Looks like Georgie from Sky F1 is going to be at Centre Court today, good luck Amy in not trying to kill her! :)

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 10:03

The women's marathon just started. One athlete not getting further than a few hundred metres before being carried off by army chaps. An injury of some kind. Bit rainy out there but the crowds are still cheering everyone on.

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 10:04

It's a lapped course too, so great for the crowds lining up alongside.

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 10:05

Freya Murray got called up on Thursday because of Paula dropping out. Not long to prepare!

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 10:07

Great shot as they round a 180 degree in front of Big Ben.

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 11:58

I missed most of the marathon! Only been watching since the Mall on this lap. This seems at twisty turny course.

  • john05/08/2012 at 11:59

hello happy gbers, feeling like tonight is the night for some aussie gold, look out the chinese.....

credit to jess trengove, only ever ran one marathon before and qualified for the olympics, now sitting about 50th, no chance of winning or medaling but still not a bad effort in her second ever marathon to be running in the olympics against some of the great long distance runners.

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 12:18

2km to go. That Ukrainian is making up a load of time, won't catch them though.

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 12:25

Gelana from Ethipoa wins, then runs back along the Mall with the flag :)

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 12:28

Gutted - Star sailors miss out on Gold.

  • john05/08/2012 at 12:36

39th for fellow adelaidian trengove, 2:31:07, not bad in her second ever marathon.

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 12:38

39th for fellow adelaidian trengove, 2:31:07, not bad in her second ever marathon.

Top Brit about a minute behind in 44th, ok considering the last minute call-up.

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 12:44

Gutted - Star sailors miss out on Gold.

All went wrong in the final 300m; they ended up losing by 2pts = ~1 place.

  • john05/08/2012 at 12:50

    williams sisters win gold.

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 12:50

Should add that my weekend of neglecting the Olympics is almost over, and I can get back to concentrating on multiple sports.

  • Mark05/08/2012 at 12:51

    williams sisters win gold.

Were they the best bet for a gold medal in the entire Olympic games?

  • john05/08/2012 at 12:52

Were they the best bet for a gold medal in the entire Olympic games?

yeah probably, that and serena to win the singles.

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 12:56

Ben Ainslie's medal-race is starting - he has to beat the Dane, but not come too far behind the Dutch. This should be a great show of boat control.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 13:06

    Afternoon all!

Looking forward to Murray's matches this afternoon. Ben ainslie is on for a gold too perhaps in the sailing

  • lou05/08/2012 at 13:09

I'm so nervous. come on muzza!!

  • Mark05/08/2012 at 13:10

  • lou05/08/2012 at 13:10

singles then into his doubles. awful scheduling. guy needs a rest!

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 13:12

singles then into his doubles. awful scheduling. guy needs a rest!

    he's going to be knackered!

Although two guaranteed silvers at least should be worth it, hopefully more :)

  • lou05/08/2012 at 13:14

so, quick team GB question... do we have anyone who has won 2 golds this year?

  • john05/08/2012 at 13:15

    come on roger

sorry to the british fans but murray is impossible to like, such a drama queen, great player but a massive show pony, which is rather annoying to watch.

roger is all class so i hope he wins.

ill be happy if murray wins the doubles with 'aussie' laura though.

  • john05/08/2012 at 13:16

so, quick team GB question... do we have anyone who has won 2 golds this year?

dont think so yet, but pendleton might win a second in the cycling tonight i think

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 13:16

so, quick team GB question... do we have anyone who has won 2 golds this year?

Don't think so.. was thinking maybe sir chris hoy but that was only the relay. May be missing someone but i can't think of anyone whos' won double this year so far

  • lou05/08/2012 at 13:17

Don't think so.. was thinking maybe sir chris hoy but that was only the relay. May be missing someone but i can't think of anyone whos' won double this year so far

    exciting! :)

i can deal with 2 silvers tho, happily :)

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 13:20

i can deal with 2 silvers tho, happily :)

exactly, no shame in that at all as that alone is an amazing achievement. would just be a brilliant bonus to be able to say andy murray is an olympic gold medalist

  • lou05/08/2012 at 13:21

exactly, no shame in that at all as that alone is an amazing achievement. would just be a brilliant bonus to be able to say andy murray is an olympic gold medalist

would give him the confidence to believe he could win a slam too i think.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 13:26

"Well you beat him on this court"

"he was only 11 years old"

"Got him at the right time"

    Hehehe.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 13:30

Chance for murray to break here...

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 13:31

Right, back in front of a proper TV with sound and everything. What's on, peeps?

  • lou05/08/2012 at 13:31

    murray gold medal matches!! :D

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 13:31

    Hi christine

Murray was about to break Roger but Roger did a pretty convincing way of saying no with an ace.

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 13:32

Murray was about to break Roger but Roger did a pretty convincing way of saying no with an ace.

Ah ha! That sounds about right :)

    Woohoo!

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 13:35

Sailing commentator said Ainslie won gold. All I could see was a load of boats moving around.

I've tried watching the sailing at least three times and it really doesn't come across at all well on TV.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 13:37

I've tried watching the sailing at least three times and it really doesn't come across at all well on TV.

I was disappointed to find a lack of cannons and crows nests

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 13:37

I've tried watching the sailing at least three times and it really doesn't come across at all well on TV.

Must be even more confusing watching from shore. Nearly went down there too (oddly it looks sunnier there)

  • Mark05/08/2012 at 13:37

I was disappointed to find a lack of cannons and crows nests

    "And it's gold for Barbossa!"

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 13:43

Murray is smiling despite unforced errors. Not hitting himself is a good thing.

  • lou05/08/2012 at 13:44

i like this new murray, smiley more than frustrated :)

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 13:44

i like this new murray, smiley more than frustrated :)

Just about to say he looks comfortable then tim henman says it on tv, clearly stealing my lines.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 13:45

    YES!!

    Murray breaks him :D

  • lou05/08/2012 at 13:52

If i could hug murray i would. perfect :)

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 13:53

Ben Ainslie = GOLD :) (Shame I missed the most of the race)

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 13:55

I've tried watching the sailing at least three times and it really doesn't come across at all well on TV.

It comes across reasonably well if you already understand it, but it is not a sport you can causally watch and try to learn it.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 13:55

    Set point...

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 13:55

Oh my word, what a start. :o

  • lou05/08/2012 at 13:55

    YES!!!!! YEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 13:56

It comes across reasonably well if you already understand it, but it is not a sport you can causally watch and try to learn it.

Probably true. The commentators didn't seem to know what was going on either... or if they did, they found it hard to explain!

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 13:59

Probably true. The commentators didn't seem to know what was going on either... or if they did, they found it hard to explain!

The main guy is a very experienced commentator, and the other is an ex-olympic sailor (his class isn't in the Games this time). They've done a reasonable job of explaining everything, but they would always be fighting a losing battle with the amount stuff there is that could have to be explained.

At the end of the day, all that matters is that we're +1 G!

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:01

I wish Andy Castle would stop jinxing Murray! Long way to go yet!

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:02

I wish Andy Castle would stop jinxing Murray! Long way to go yet!

I know he was a tennis player in himself but he will forever be the man off GMTV to me

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:03

Ohhh this is kind of brilliant though.

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:03

This.is.crazy. To quote the killers.. Andy you are a star

this is perfection! keep it up!!

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:03

This.is.crazy. To quote the killers.. Andy you are a star

    :D

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:04

It feels like this must be the home advantage, crowd helping muzza but annoying Fed.

    come on Muzza.... hold...

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 14:04

Wouldn't it be somewhat gutting for Andy to win at Wimbledon, but not actually in Wimbledon. Although getting the GOLD would be some kind of achievement esp in such a special place for him & the country.

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 14:05

The main guy is a very experienced commentator, and the other is an ex-olympic sailor (his class isn't in the Games this time). They've done a reasonable job of explaining everything, but they would always be fighting a losing battle with the amount stuff there is that could have to be explained.

there was a lot of implicit or assumed knowledge in their commentary. i'd follow/enjoy a lot more sports in this competition if there was a second commentary team for casual observers.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:05

Wouldn't it be somewhat gutting for Andy to win at Wimbledon, but not actually in Wimbledon. Although getting the GOLD would be some kind of achievement esp in such a special place for him & the country.

I don't think he'd be gutted. if anything I tink lou hit the nail on the head that it'll only drive him further to get that grand slam in the future

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 14:07

i did like the piece on the sailing the other night that explained how ben used an aero advantage to screw an opponents race, but other than that i can't say i understood anything about sailing this games. same goes for the horses-on-parade thingy.

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:07

Wouldn't it be somewhat gutting for Andy to win at Wimbledon, but not actually in Wimbledon. Although getting the GOLD would be some kind of achievement esp in such a special place for him & the country.

nooo, it's the perfect next best thing to winning wimbles. if he wins here, it'll prove to him that it's his time to win grand slams. it may not happen this year, but next year coming into wimbledon.. or any of the future slams i think it'll help his confidence. He'll push his game even further and who knows.

Just like JB with Hungary 2006, getting the monkey off your back with the first high profile win (grandslam or not) will help him want more. and work harder.

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 14:10

there was a lot of implicit or assumed knowledge in their commentary. i'd follow/enjoy a lot more sports in this competition if there was a second commentary team for casual observers.

I think they did their best job to cater for all tastes, otherwise each race would turn into a lecture if the had to explain all the minutia. It is a really interesting sport because of all the science that goes into it, but there are far too many rules, tactics, and methods for casual viewing. #Shame

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:10

come on Murray, hold your serve, don't give Federer the chance to come back...

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 14:11

I think they did their best job to cater for all tastes, otherwise each race would turn into a lecture if the had to explain all the minutia.

hence the need for two options. bbc have the capacity to do it technically, but i doubt there's enough people available to double up on all the events :(

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 14:12

come on Murray, hold your serve, don't give Federer the chance to come back...

    oof!

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 14:13

I know this has been discussed before, but Isles of Wonder: Buy?

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 14:13

I know this has been discussed before, but Isles of Wonder: Buy?

already bought. love it. great remixes, perfect if you like underworld (half the album is them).

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:14

    oof!

you give fed an inch and he takes a mile, he's just so awesome. i (heart) fed. but i (heart) Murray more, and so badly want him to get this :) so no allowing Fed to sense a chance ;)

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:14

I know this has been discussed before, but Isles of Wonder: Buy?

definitely. £10 for 40 tracks, most of them completely brilliant? you'd be mad not to.

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 14:14

you give fed an inch and he takes a mile, he's just so awesome. i (heart) fed. but i (heart) Murray more, and so badly want him to get this :) so no allowing Fed to sense a chance ;)

he looks more beatable than the last game (final) i watched him play :)

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:14

already bought. love it. great remixes, perfect if you like underworld (half the album is them).

thing is it's not even my usual genre of musical tastes but their stuff on there is that good

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 14:15

thing is it's not even my usual genre of musical tastes but their stuff on there is that good

    agreed.

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:15

ahh well.. we've been stuck on deuce for some time now.. super awesome Fed is waking up! it's scary!

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 14:15

Right up my street (or at least one of my eclectic streets).

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:16

ahh well.. we've been stuck on deuce for some time now.. super awesome Fed is waking up! it's scary!

he's got to cater for amy as well :)

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:16

love that Laura is looking a bit stressed.

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:16

    Murray. x2 aces. come on.

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:18

oh murray, come on, chop chop no time to get tired here.. it's a 5 setter, and you have another gold medal match after this.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:18

oh murray, come on, chop chop no time to get tired here.. it's a 5 setter, and you have another gold medal match after this.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:19

hehe! her tweets about food last night made me giggle so much :)

she is brilliantly funny. and she makes arrested development references every so often which is always good in my book.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:19

    Well done andy :)

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:20

mum 'how many hours is this going on for?! I think Andy wants me to get even more gray hairs!'

    hehe!

I'm glad you mentioned it too because i thought i misheard it!

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:26

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:26

    what a selection!

Team award = #TeamGB. Has to be!!

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:28

I think we should rename wimbledon to the Olympics. They'll never notice, it does good thing.

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 14:28

i haven't watched much tennis in my life, but this is the best ever.

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 14:28

    Afternoon :-)

    lo squire!

  • Noelinho05/08/2012 at 14:29

Wiggo, Hoy, Jess, now Andy Murray for Sports Personality

    Andy Murray for Sports Personality?

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 14:29

    Andy Murray for Sports Personality?

did you see the crying? he's normal this year ;)

  • Noelinho05/08/2012 at 14:30

Actually, there are plenty of women who I hope to see dominate the short list this year :-)

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 14:30

Apparently it just means the sportsman/woman who has captured the public's imagination the most.

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:31

did you see the crying? he's normal this year ;)

there were a few tears in his eyes when he got through to this match too. He's now as sweet as I always new he was :)

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 14:31

Just worked out that after today, Andy will have eclipsed what Tim has done at any Games.

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 14:32

there were a few tears in his eyes when he got through to this match too. He's now as sweet as I always new he was :)

doing well in the doubles helps his cause too.

  • Noelinho05/08/2012 at 14:32

Unfortunately, many of the people who nominate these sportsmen/women are idiots. Manchester Evening News nominated Vincent Kompany last year...

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:32

Just worked out that after today, Andy will have eclipsed what Tim has done at any Games.

    he's even stolen his hill

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 14:32

    he's even stolen his hill

    :) :)

  • Noelinho05/08/2012 at 14:34

I'll be voting for Jessica Ennis first this year, Rebecca Adlington second, probably Wiggins third :-)

  • Mark05/08/2012 at 14:34

I'll be voting for Jessica Ennis first this year, Rebecca Adlington second, probably Wiggins third :-)

I don't think Adlington will make the shortlist.

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 14:34

I'll be voting for Jessica Ennis first this year, Rebecca Adlington second, probably Wiggins third :-)

    adlington because?

at the moment, it's between ennis, wiggles and andy for me .

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:35

doing well in the doubles helps his cause too.

yes! watch how he couches Laura along. actual human i tell you!

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:35

    ahh Federer wont be bagelled.

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 14:35

I'll be voting for Jessica Ennis first this year, Rebecca Adlington second, probably Wiggins third :-)

As it stands, Wiggo for me - 1st British Tdf winner, & most decorated British Olympian (atm).

  • Noelinho05/08/2012 at 14:35

I don't think Adlington will make the shortlist.

Maybe not, but she should. No British swimmer has achieved medals at successive games, let alone two. And her competition this year was much stiffer than Beijing. She was fantastic. And she always smiles!

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:36

oh Murray not now. not when you could win the set.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:38

Also I meant to meantion earlier, very impressive stuff from del potro to beat djokovic for bronze!

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:38

Also I meant to meantion earlier, very impressive stuff from del potro to beat djokovic for bronze!

Delpo has been on fire this tournament, hoping this is a resurgence from him. he's awesome.

  • Noelinho05/08/2012 at 14:40

Also, would be nice for our female cyclists to get a bit of recognition, and not just Victori Pendleton. One other mention: Katherine Grainger. Won't get on the short list, but she's done us proud for years :-)

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:40

*jumps up and down* set point!!

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:40

Oh goody that storm we had yesterday it's on it's way to wimbledon apparently...

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:44

I missed this on tv but did we know that serena's american flag blew away during her single's medal ceremony?

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:44

ah maybe they were joking, or couldn't see. Think one said 'they'll go and rescue the flag from court 1 and have it ready for later' or something so maybe they didn't see it either!

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:47

  • CAMikaze05/08/2012 at 14:53

Did it cost more for a tickety into the Wimbledon grounds for the Olympics or the Championshps?

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:54

Did it cost more for a tickety into the Wimbledon grounds for the Olympics or the Championshps?

even if the olympics costs more it's probably a million times easier to get there than wimbledon, which sounds like it has a ticketing process created by leonardi da vinci's codex system.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:55

two more break points for andy :)

  • CAMikaze05/08/2012 at 14:55

Of the 4 Grand Slam venures, Roland Garros is more likely to get Olympics tennis before the US National Tennis Center, IMO.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 14:55

    WOO!!

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 14:55

    #eeek

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:55

Did it cost more for a tickety into the Wimbledon grounds for the Olympics or the Championshps?

ground pass for the olympics was around £20, for Wimbledon champs is usually £20 at most, but gets less and less through the tournament as there are less things going on on to watch.

  • lou05/08/2012 at 14:56

i've never seen federer be beaten before.

Roger has barely won anything since 2009. It really annoys me how many people want him to lose at things because he's a winning machine because he's not and hasn't been for a long time

  • lou05/08/2012 at 15:10

right, this is it.. first chance at the gold. hold you serve muzza.

How unusual would that be to hear the Olympic Hymn at a time other than the Opening or Closing Ceremonies?

  • CAMikaze05/08/2012 at 15:27

A thought occured to me. You think London should have a go at a Youth Olympic Games bid in the near future?

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 15:27

With novak winning the aussie open, rafa winning the french people, federer winning Wimbledon, this can mean only andy can win the us open.

    Or quite possibly greg rusedski,

Typical that this is the match I miss

  • Raddar05/08/2012 at 16:22

I have a feeling the winner of women's weightlifting +75 kg will overshadow all other winners so far :) It seems size really matters here :)

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 16:27

    here comes andy and laura!

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 16:30

already a break point for laura and andy :)

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 16:36

hoping that people give him more respect now, but there will still be some annoying people.

He will either never win a grand slam or win loads because of this.

It won't matter though. It meas so much for these players to win at the Olympics. Andre Agassi still refers to his as one of his greatest triumphs.

  • Raddar05/08/2012 at 16:38

He will either never win a grand slam or win loads because of this.

He'll have like 20 plus chances in his career - he'll do it sooner or later (rather sooner). Especially that Djokovic has lost his form and Nadal is struggling with injuries.

Look what Lewis Hamilton has achieved yet there are people who still hate him for no reason they can explain. There will always be haters. Possibly the only negative about the internet is that it gives haters a voice

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 16:39

I saw similar hate for Michael phelps yesterday. It's history. Enjoy it!

    Haters gonna hate. :)

Women's weightlifting is really something. I love how the crowd supports everyone so much, that's the best.

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 16:39

I di say something similar to Mrs. Goat last night that it was great that Britain has some decent heroes for a change and that perhaps we shouldn't be looking up to footballers so much anymore.

I said it a day or so ago, I have yet to see any cycling that is just peddle as fast as you can to get to the end. There is no normal cycling races.

    or something.

Well, your question wasn't "what about the one where they just cycle fast?" so no, not that one :)

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 16:50

That cycling is a sprint to the line, but the person who is in front pulls the other in their slipstream, so giving the advantage (as I'm sure everyone here knows). So tactics come into play, turning it into chess-on-bikes before the final lunge to the line.

  • lou05/08/2012 at 16:51

i am brimming with pride and i only support the guy. Judy must be close to exploding!!

people will have gone home.. no idea why. most people hate doubles.. which is annoying, cause doubles is awesome!!

You would think they could go out to the hill and hand out passes

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 17:09

I think I will concentrate on tennis but flick during the many breaks they have. Tennis is the ideal sport to let you watch another one

and Indycar with so many ads lends itself to multitasking, too.

Just need to get them to sync better

Watching on Sky means sbs becomes straight ads. :(

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:11

Poor Toronto people. They go to all the trouble of scheduling a tournament right after the Olympics and all the top players pull out.

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:11

You would think they could go out to the hill and hand out passes

they've been great at trying to give people court tickets when there has been rain etc (giving court 1 people centre upgrades when there is alot of rain)

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:12

they've been great at trying to give people court tickets when there has been rain etc (giving court 1 people centre upgrades when there is alot of rain)

At least locog have managed to do something right with ticketing though

Andy and Delpo have pulled out, too?

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:13

What's with the ball kid race?

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 17:16

andy, don't throw your racket on the floor. silly.

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:16

Since the start of the second set things have not been going so well

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:17

no andy, come on now, calm down.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 17:17

belarus break to go 3-1 up

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:17

it's okay tho, cause 3rd set is a champions tiebreak which is better to win from.

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:19

I have to say all this time later I still hate the London 2012 logo. That is not going to age well.

What the hell is that? The first to 10 points?

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 17:26

but the adidas stuff is soooooo nice!

The official kit stuff I fundamentally disagree with. The only London 2012 stuff I've liked is the bands for the arms. All the keyrings and things are cool but have the hideous logo!

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:27

They were handing out keyrings at Goodwood. I got one with that logo in bright pink. Can't see me ever using it

  • Mark05/08/2012 at 17:28

    Champions tie break time

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:33

come on andy... you can do this!!!

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:34

    and laura of course..

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 17:35

    Champions tie break time

    What's a champions tie break?

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:35

mini break already. come on andy, save this!

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:35

    What's a champions tie break?

    First to 10 wins

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:35

    What's a champions tie break?

tie break to 10. so a bit longer.

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 17:35

Why don't they just play the third set?

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:35

Why don't they just play the third set?

third set is a bit longer?.. and mixed isn't so special... i.... Amy?

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:36

ohhhhhhkaayyyy team GB. calm, and hold please.

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 17:36

third set is a bit longer?.. and mixed isn't so special... i.... Amy?

    Confusing!

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:36

Why don't they just play the third set?

It's weird because I saw a match score earlier and the third set was 10-7. Completely baffled me

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:37

    Confusing!

my ticket info tried to explain the reasons to me, but i just got confused and accepted it :)

  • Mark05/08/2012 at 17:37

Is the tie break of champions like the wall of champions?

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:37

    Break back

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:37

    LAURA!! YES!!

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:39

    not again laura.. not again.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 17:39

    wooo!

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:39

    andy! wohoo!

he will save this match :)

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:40

Great time to make that shot Andy because Laura was starting to crack

  • Raddar05/08/2012 at 17:40

Andy's rather confident there at the net!

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:40

Great time to make that shot Andy because Laura was starting to crack

she was a bit weak on her serve yesterday. Andy carried her for alot of it.

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:40

    wohooooooooo!!!

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:41

    Great play again by Murray

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:41

Murray is on another planet just lately, i hope this continues to the slams

  • Amy05/08/2012 at 17:41

You would think they could go out to the hill and hand out passes

I was surprised they didn't scan me out so they could resell my seat. Also amazed how many people left when I did considering how gb the crowd was, maybe they didn't know Andy was playing again.

They can't have all been coming here but I did escort an American father and son all the way from Southfields to the stadium because they hadn't been here before. They were really nice and it was great to have company

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:42

Foreigners acting as tour guides. Whatever next

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:43

    tiebreaks are stressful.

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:43

It is raining heavier than I have ever heard outside now.

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:44

    murray stop bouncing your racquet!

  • Amy05/08/2012 at 17:44

Why don't they just play the third set?

they always try make mixed matches shorter because its normally an afterthought played by people in other draws since its only played at slams. No one would play it if they had to play a full third set

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 17:44

    ohhh laura...

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 17:44

    Who has any nails left?

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:44

laura, i love that you're doing well..but could you just pick up the pace please?

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:44

Looks like it has just fizzled out.

Should have made this just a one set match

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 17:45

    nicely done by andy :)

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 17:45

Should have made this just a one set match

    hehehe.

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:45

    YES ANDY!

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 17:45

they always try make mixed matches shorter because its normally an afterthought played by people in other draws since its only played at slams. No one would play it if they had to play a full third set

    Huh! Interesting.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 17:45

    another point saved! come on!!!

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:45

    lucky lucky...

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:45

    still gotta break them.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 17:46

    He reminds me of petrov.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 17:46

ahhhh silver for team gb, still very awesome though!

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:46

    silver is still AMAZING!

    I am a proud Muzza fan :)

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 17:46

    (I've not seen it yet :S )

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:46

NO murray i WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO BE SAD!

  • Raddar05/08/2012 at 17:47

    Mr Lukashenka will be proud

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:47

Shame they couldn't keep the momentum going into the second set but no-one could have expected them to go as far as the final

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:47

    now they are coping murray.

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:48

A bit of a shame that he could not get time to enjoy his singles gold and now has to walk off centre court feeling bad about losing when he had his best result ever earlier

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:49

Laura - I am so happy to be in the final

Andy - We came so close and it is annoying to lose.

    Slight difference there

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 17:49

Sorry, but I'm getting really sick of the BBC starting interviews with GB athletes who won silver with "you must be disappointed".

  • lou05/08/2012 at 17:49

A bit of a shame that he could not get time to enjoy his singles gold and now has to walk off centre court feeling bad about losing when he had his best result ever earlier

i think it'll take him a minute or two to get focused on that again, but i'm sure judy will squash any disappointment out of him. a Gold followed by a Silver 40mins later, that's crazy! A great achievement, specially as he NEVER plays doubles!!

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:50

    Ben Ainslie won gold again.

All of a sudden GB has a bunch of people with 4 or 5 golds

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:51

Sorry, but I'm getting really sick of the BBC starting interviews with GB athletes who won silver with "you must be disappointed".

I am getting fed up when they do it the other way round. Congratulations you won bronze. May as well say congratulations you lost.

Anyone who gets silver should be gutted that they didn't win

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 17:52

I think a Danish guy won the silly mixed bag cycling event?

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 17:53

I am getting fed up when they do it the other way round. Congratulations you won bronze. May as well say congratulations you lost.

Its awesome to win any medal in my book. The BBC build up the GB athletes so much that it's a disappointment if they don't win.

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:53

I think a Danish guy won the silly mixed bag cycling event?

I forgot about that. I was going to try to watch more events in that. I need to find an omnium to try and follow at some point where there is no Olympics. Seems like a great idea for an event.

I also want to see another of those 20 guys on track and the last place drops out all the time

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 17:54

    woah, sudden f1!

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:54

Its awesome to win any medal in my book. The BBC build up the GB athletes so much that it's a disappointment if they don't win.

If they are in a race and they come second I can understand it. If they are in a final where the worst they can do is silver then they have to be disappointed to end up with silver

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:54

    woah, sudden f1!

    What, where

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 17:55

    woah, sudden f1!

    What? Where?

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 17:55

    What, where

lewis was just on BBC1 and I heard an f1 car

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 17:56

If they are in a race and they come second I can understand it. If they are in a final where the worst they can do is silver then they have to be disappointed to end up with silver

Fair point, but having lived in smaller countries it looks arrogant when people get disappointed when it's not gold.

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 17:58

For some reason I'm finding fencing so interesting! I've never seen it before.

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 17:59

For some reason I'm finding fencing so interesting! I've never seen it before.

It can be fascinating. The thing I find odd is how much it has changed since I last saw it. Some people have windows in their masks. Others have LEDs that light up when they score. They are no longer attached to a wire

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 18:00

It was absolute havoc the other night with the south korean lady

It's very high tech. Lots of beeping. So the green light means a touch and a point? What does the red light mean?

  • Raddar05/08/2012 at 18:01

It was absolute havoc the other night with the south korean lady

Yeah! The weirdest controversy in sports ever!

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:01

It's very high tech. Lots of beeping. So the green light means a touch and a point? What does the red light mean?

Based on the one I saw the other day. One fencer is red and one is green

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 18:01

Germany just rolled the US. Beat them bad. One of the Germans went down with a knee injury. :(

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 18:01

Yeah! The weirdest controversy in sports ever!

    what happened?

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 18:02

Blue ribbon Athletics session this evening :) Will Mr Bolt destroy the field and set another WR ... ?

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 18:02

Based on the one I saw the other day. One fencer is red and one is green

ok, so whatever side lights up with the Tron lights, they are getting the point, then.

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 18:02

It's very high tech. Lots of beeping. So the green light means a touch and a point? What does the red light mean?

We had a Russian guy teach us how to fence as a kid. It's a cool but weird sport!

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 18:02

    what happened?

The clock ran down to 1 second left on the clock, with the score 6-6, and then they added another second when the time ran out for some reason in which the german lady managed to get a point to win 7-6. The Korean lady sat on the fighting thing for an hour afterwards whilst officials talked over it

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 18:03

Blue ribbon Athletics session this evening :) Will Mr Bolt destroy the field and set another WR ... ?

Will he tie his shoe? Will he quit before the finish line because he's beating everyone so bad?

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:03

ok, so whatever side lights up with the Tron lights, they are getting the point, then.

Either that or they lost. There seemed to be lots of lighting up with no points awarded because they hit wrong areas of the body etc

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 18:03

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 18:03

Either that or they lost. There seemed to be lots of lighting up with no points awarded because they hit wrong areas of the body etc

oh, ok. I really don't know what the heck is happening, and there are no announcers to tell me.

Actually the last second was repeated a few times as the German fencer made repeated do-or-die attacks that last just a few tenths. The longest second in sports!

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 18:04

Will he tie his shoe? Will he quit before the finish line because he's beating everyone so bad?

I'd love to see him run full out for the whole 100m

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 18:04

Usain bolt is going to run so fast that he will win and make a cup of tea before the others cross the line :)

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:04

I'd love to see him run full out for the whole 100m

If Blake is as good as some people say Bolt will have no option but go flat out

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 18:06

I'd love to see him run full out for the whole 100m

Me too. I thought it was pretty arrogant of him to just cruise on in celebrating at the last games. Poor form. But I suppose you need that kind of ego to do what he's doing? I don't know. It just put me off.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 18:07

I don't think Bolt is gonna win tonight

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:08

There are no fat cheques for world records in the Olympics. Much more profitable to be double Olympic champion and set records at other meets

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:08

I don't think Bolt is gonna win tonight

    Usain has shot his Bolt?

  • Raddar05/08/2012 at 18:08

It's a west Indian thing. They are all about ego over there.

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:09

He has set his records at the biggest events, hasn't he?

Yes but he saved some time by backing off at the Olympics so he could go faster where it was more profitable

  • Raddar05/08/2012 at 18:10

Yes but he saved some time by backing off at the Olympics so he could go faster where it was more profitable

I don't think he knew exactly how fast he was going...

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 18:10

Not exactly in the Olympic Spirit is it? What happened to the Badders competitors? ;)

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:11

Not exactly in the Olympic Spirit is it? What happened to the Badders competitors? ;)

They were trying to lose. He won by a long way and just backed off a little. They could hardly disqualify him for that

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 18:12

They were trying to lose. He won by a long way and just backed off a little. They could hardly disqualify him for that

I know :) Just trying to be controversial. Shame he was focussed on the money though.

  • Noelinho05/08/2012 at 18:12

I know :) Just trying to be controversial. Shame he was focussed on the money though.

In a way, it's hard to blame him. Remember, these people have very short careers.

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 18:13

I was annoyed usain bolt backed off, just because I want to see the ultimate time.

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:13

I know :) Just trying to be controversial. Shame he was focussed on the money though.

That is only my interpretation. He is a professional athlete though so he would be crazy not to maximise his earnings

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:14

I was annoyed usain bolt backed off, just because I want to see the ultimate time.

I think with him and Blake in the same race we could see that tonight. And the london track is fast because the sub-suface is diamonds not squares apparently

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 18:15

That is only my interpretation. He is a professional athlete though so he would be crazy not to maximise his earnings

That's true, and part of building his brand is his performance in all aspects, so it could benefit him to rock the ego pretty hard, plus the cultural tendency to do so anyway.

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:15

Chris Hoy just turned up in an ad in Indycar. Very confusing

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 18:15

I was annoyed usain bolt backed off, just because I want to see the ultimate time.

    that, too!

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 18:16

That's true, and part of building his brand is his performance in all aspects, so it could benefit him to rock the ego pretty hard, plus the cultural tendency to do so anyway.

I think it's interesting he's a dominent athlete that people seem to want to do well again... whereas it's so often the case that we want anyone but the dominant player.

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 18:16

I think with him and Blake in the same race we could see that tonight. And the london track is fast because the sub-suface is diamonds not squares apparently

I knew the stadium was expensive for a reason.

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 18:16

Christine, are you not horrified by some countries having wonky collars on their athletic vests?

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 18:16

Christine, are you not horrified by some countries having wonky collars on their athletic vests?

There is so much I am horrified at in these Olympics that I have sort of been numbed :)

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 18:17

I think it's interesting he's a dominent athlete that people seem to want to do well again... whereas it's so often the case that we want anyone but the dominant player.

That's a good point. I don't like him, but I want to see what he'll do. I guess he won, I lost. :)

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 18:17

I was annoyed usain bolt backed off, just because I want to see the ultimate time.

I agree with the money things (I'd probably do similar), but that ^^ is my reason - wanting to see how fast is truey possible.

In other news, anyone heard of Phillips Idowu's fitness etc?

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 18:17

Hope China brought this guy to London for the hurdles

I understand his mentality so I don't mind him.

Different coloured shoes, different coloured sleeves, asymmetrical clothes, it's all just wonkiness!

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 18:18

In other news, anyone heard of Phillips Idowu's fitness etc?

    Hasn't he gone AWOL?

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 18:18

Christine, are you not horrified by some countries having wonky collars on their athletic vests?

the collars on the gray jackets for the US are a mess! And who looked at the gray with the fluorescent yellow sneakers and said "oh yes, dahling, NOW we've got it!" #fail

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 18:19

Different coloured shoes, different coloured sleeves, asymmetrical clothes, it's all just wonkiness!

On that note, what's with the sleeves people are wearing with vests that have no gloves or connect at the shoulders?

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 18:20

BTW in support of the smaller nations I am wearing a red and a white armband I got from coke glasses from McDonald's ;)

Different coloured shoes, different coloured sleeves, asymmetrical clothes, it's all just wonkiness!

It is time the fashion police had a say in the Olympics. We should have known that there would be issues when GB turned up for the openeing ceremony in Ali G jackets

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 18:26

Oh good point. Hadn't thought about that

All I'm looking for is 100% effort, and no excuses if he loses.

    The Russians have hilarious cardigans/jackets.

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:35

    The Russians have hilarious cardigans/jackets.

To be fair we had the German 70s blue and pink jackets before the Ali GB jackets

  • Raddar05/08/2012 at 18:44

Apparently Asafa Powell has run more than 80 times under 10s in his career (most ever).

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 18:44

IndyCar race just ended with good timing for the 100m

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:44

Why did they put the 2012 logo on all the officials' blazers. Olympic rings are so much more elegant

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 18:44

Love it how if you're from Gambia it's called "The Gambia". As if there's another one???

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 18:46

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 18:53

    Usain time!

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:53

I thought Bolt and Blake were in the same semi

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 18:54

he eased off again and STILL did a 9.87!

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:54

    Bolt cruised from 70 metres

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 18:54

That's more like the Bolt we know!

    In a couple of hours

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 18:54

Who builds a 9 lane track and uses lanes 2 to 9?

People who want the runners nearer the crowd.

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 18:55

Who builds a 9 lane track and uses lanes 2 to 9?

I wondered what the deal with that was.

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:55

People who want the runners nearer the crowd.

So why not just not build lane 1?

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 18:55

    I hear Muse!!!

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:55

    I hear Muse!!!

    ARI!!!!!!!!!

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 18:56

So why not just not build lane 1?

I'm sure they were using it for the 400

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 18:56

    Amy is on the ball

@lukehmuse i've heard bits of 3 muse songs tonight.olympics are loving them!

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 18:56

Bailey looked to be very upright on the start, more than others.

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:57

I'm sure they were using it for the 400

Normally they only ever used 8 lanes.

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 18:59

That lady went out the white lines!! 5 SECOND PENALTY

I am sure they were all men in that race

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 18:59

Lanes 6 & 7 are the ones of interest here.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 18:59

they just showed a lady doing the triple jump

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 18:59

    And 4

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 19:00

I thought she had gone over the end of the board but she made it by millimetres

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 19:02

It seemed like Blake and Gay had slow starts but damn they had fast times

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 19:02

Really slow start by Blake then he lit the after burner

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 19:02

little mini driving in the background. want!

I missed it again. They have used RC cars in rugby to take the kicking tee out on the firld and then collct it again

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 19:10

that was an interesting angle :)

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 19:11

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 19:12

What are they doing with that flame. Sometimes it seems as if it is really low in the stadium then at others it looks much higher

  • Amy05/08/2012 at 19:16

I can confirm its not moving under the scoreboard

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 19:18

Interesting interview with Andy Murray. Mo Farah's last 400 last night was 4 seconds faster than Andy's best time

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 19:18

Why is it 1500 metres and not 1600 or a mile?

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 19:18

little mini driving in the background. want!

    NOOOOOO i missed it!

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 19:19

Why is it 1500 metres and not 1600 or a mile?

    Never understood that,

    100

    200

    400

    800

    1500

    5000

    10000

    Odd sequence

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 19:21

    Odd sequence

I suppose at some point you've got to switch from a nice sequence of smaller numbers to a nice sequence of bigger numbers, otherwise you'd have 1600, 3200, 6400, ... etc.

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 19:21

What are they doing with that flame. Sometimes it seems as if it is really low in the stadium then at others it looks much higher

Flame should be on the roof so the whole park can see it and planes landing at Heathrow.

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 19:22

    100m final lane draw:

    1 Thompson,

    2 Powell,

    3 Gay,

    4 Blake,

    5 Gatlin,

    6 Bolt,

    7 Bailey,

    8 Martina

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 19:24

Flame should be on the roof so the whole park can see it and planes landing at Heathrow.

I must admit I had visions of them having a little candle and lots of lenses and mirrors to make it look big so they could claim it was green

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 19:29

Andy Baddeley is out of the 1500m :(

    NZ guy goes through.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 19:30

I think the commentator is disappointed

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 19:32

Both commentators used to be distance runners.. and so did Seb Coe

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 19:34

    Yey for Ben :)

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 19:34

Partly wishing I wasn't so lazy to stay at home, could've sat on that beach.. but all I'd be doing is watching that huge screen ;)

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 19:37

Flame should be on the roof so the whole park can see it and planes landing at Heathrow.

you end up with a stadium, with space for a flame... and no flame ever again in its entire history.

  • Raddar05/08/2012 at 19:38

Also true. I'd have liked to see an extra contraption attached to one end to hold it. But then the 'everyone brings the parts of the cauldron in' wouldn't have worked too well... maybe build it at the bottom and winch it up with people dancing around it..

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 19:44

maybe the fuss about running around the country was down to it disappearing from public view.

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 19:46

    Wow yeah, very similar

Don't they have those in US arenas? But most of those have roofs.

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 19:56

Wow, Bolt hits 45 km/h; I'd struggle to reach that on my bike!

You'd need a racing bike to do that. I have apparently done that downhill with a tailwind, but it was gps so I don't know how accurate that really is.

  • Christine05/08/2012 at 19:56

Glad Cram finished that sentence... "Has always seemed possessed... of talent."

they can easily put seats in when they remove the flame and they try get around its non visibility by showing it on big screens but its really not the same thing!

    who?

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 21:17

they may as well give up programming until the end of the olympics

    Would anybody really notice?

  • Bassano05/08/2012 at 21:18

    Have ITV gone bankrupt yet?

Maybe it's what Apple are waiting for before releasing their television :)

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 21:19

Wow. That's a bit fail isnt it?

Because of the time difference they save all the good stuff for their prime time shows each night. By the time it's shown here it's been done (and spoiled) for 5-6 hours.

Heard so so many bad things about the NBC coverage. Really feel for you guys.

The same is happening in NZ apparently.

Is there an option for live paid content?

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 21:20

Also didn't they cut stuff out of the opening ceremony because they didn't think viewers would understand it? Their words and everything

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 21:20

Esp before they show the action, the drop trailers (spoilers) for the medal-winners on whichever show is coming afterwards.

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 21:20

F1 and SPEED has prepared me well for NBC Failympic coverage.

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 21:21

Just get a UK Proxy address and watch the Beeb online.

  • Bassano05/08/2012 at 21:21

The same is happening in NZ apparently.

I remember staying up late for the 100m during LA Olympics. It was late but at least it was live

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 21:21

Is there an option for live paid content?

They're streaming everything online, but I'm buffering so badly here I had to give up on that.

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 21:21

    Yeah. Idiots.

How's the BBC site been holding up. I've been impressed by the tv content

  • Mr C05/08/2012 at 21:22

fab day of sports. i shall bid y'all a good night. cheers for the company everyone.

Haven't had any issues and wonderful quality too. BBC doing a remarkable job providing coverage.

Sky helped with the costs :)

  • Kai05/08/2012 at 21:23

On the bright side, whatever I miss that I want to see (from reading what you guys are saying), I can see later on...on the actual TV!

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 21:23

How's the BBC site been holding up. I've been impressed by the tv content

I've had no real problem. Only once did the cycling final race have the picture replaced with something else (I had sound, but missed seeing Gold), but that was a leaning on a button thing.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 21:24

On the bright side, whatever I miss that I want to see (from reading what you guys are saying), I can see later on...on the actual TV!

    it's worth it too :)

Neck and neck in the first set

    USA vs CZE

geez thats pretty bad, most of the finals are happening a all sorts of hours here, mostly from 3:30 am to 7 am and they are still showing them live.

  • Lukeh05/08/2012 at 21:28

right, time to retire for the day i think. cheers for another excellent day of olympic fun! :)

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 21:30

Just discovered there's another omnium tomorrow - the women's event.

    4.08pm 250m Flying Lap

    5.06pm Points Race

    6.18pm Elimination Race

    3 more races on Tuesday.

  • Will^05/08/2012 at 21:30

I'm disappointed to miss the men's one, so thanks for the heads up

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 21:30

Just discovered there's another omnium tomorrow - the women's event.

With those times I am going to miss all the races

  • Pat W05/08/2012 at 21:30

Just saw a tweet saying instead of showing the 100m NBC in America showed show jumping

    Astonishing

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 21:31

With those times I am going to miss all the races

At some point very soon I may miss the events of the next few days ;)

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 21:31

    What events are left then?

  • Steven Roy05/08/2012 at 21:32

I haven't found anyone there who will confirm that

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 21:35

Well that's what my sister told me. They show highlights, but tell you who the winner is before they show them.

  • Bassano05/08/2012 at 21:47

Strong chance of an all-American final in the Women's Beach Volleyball

  • Amy05/08/2012 at 21:55

Well that's what my sister told me. They show highlights, but tell you who the winner is before they show them.

my mum said all the big stuff is live but its the middle of the night/while everyone us at work so no one sees it

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 22:02

my mum said all the big stuff is live but its the middle of the night/while everyone us at work so no one sees it

So therefore they assume by the time the highlights are on (when my sister is presumably watching) that everyone knows the result.

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 22:04

I never realised Andy Murray got so upset after losing Wimbledon.

  • Amy05/08/2012 at 22:05

So therefore they assume by the time the highlights are on (when my sister is presumably watching) that everyone knows the result.

probably! Bit silly though, some people are very good at avoiding spoilers

  • Rubbergoat05/08/2012 at 22:06

probably! Bit silly though, some people are very good at avoiding spoilers

Yeah I used to try to. I think my sister is, which is why she got annoyed with it.

Pretty hard to do anything else with an11 hour time difference though!

  • Bassano05/08/2012 at 22:08

Brazil vs Germany now in the last quarters.

Brazil look like ninjas in all black... But with fluro tabards on :)

    Nice response to that tweet:

Do they keep the judo teams on standby for incidents like that?!

  • Amy05/08/2012 at 22:52

final is Tuesday night. Hope he gets another medal!
