Team GB have finally got their hands on a gold medal, so we can all breathe a sigh of relief and look ahead to some more great finals. The track cycling begins, which I'm quite excited about, plus more rowing, more swimming and plenty else! Coming up today: Women's Individual Archery, Men's Canoe and Women's Kayak, Women's Team Foil, Women's Individual All-Around Gymnastics, Men's and Women's Judo, Men's Double Trap Shooting and Men's Singles Table Tennis.

I like this must see moments thing from the BBC, obviously very GB-centric: http://bbc.in/M4DiC8
new zealand win gold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ooh, yay! In what?
South Africa pip us on the line in the lightweight coxless fours, still... silver!
that was a great race, anyone could have won at he end
Very much so, three countries within absolutely no time at all.
rowing apparently - http://nz.sports.yahoo.com/news/article/-/14443416/cohen-and-sullivan-win-gold/
i'm rooting for switzerland. feel bad they don't have any now :(
Mr Murray through to the semi finals! Looking good for a medal.
really loving the canoeing?? is that the word, this year, mens c2 semi final on now plus womens k1 up soon.
Florence/Hounslow for GB just did a brilliant job in it. Looking good.
In other GB news, Gemma Gibbons into semis of the judo and Peter Wilson is leading in the shooting going into the final.
two gb teams through to the final
Not half bad. Looking all good.
Gemma Gibbons into the final of judo!! I had no idea what was going on but we've got another medal in the bag at least.
I'm still a few hours behind on BBC live text. Good to see NZ get a gold and I'm impressed GB is good at judo, I had no idea.
Gold and silver in the canoe slalom! Stott and Baillie beat Hounslow and Flourence. Brilliant.
It's been a good two minutes, gold in the shooting too....
Fantastic :)
Blimey, somebody opened the floodgates!
Judo final next too, so hopefully Gemma Gibbon can get gold in that as well!
Bah, only silver. Still, not half bad!
GB is even better at karate. There have been loads of world champions at all sorts of weights over the years but it has never been accepted as an Olympic sport despite trying several times.
our medal table position, much healthier!
It must be a good day if we're at the point of saying ONLY silver :)
Bad start in the track cycling... Varnish/Pendleton DQd for a dodgy takeover, no chance of a medal there...
Just tuned in to find them replaying lots of podium ceremonies. Do all the national anthems start with a drum roll or just ours?
Bit of a tearful interview with Victoria Pendleton. "Now and again, rubbish things happen and this is one of those days."
Home at last, looking forward to more success and more good stories from all teams. Not good to kick off with the DQ though.
Prince Wills is watching in the velodrome. Bound to be a medal, they follow him around.
Men's team cycling thing: NZ fastest ahead of Denmark with 3 teams to run. GB looking quick.
World record and 5sec faster than NZ!
Evening all. Spent today away from all Olympics, and it looks like I've missed quite a bit.
Loads going on today
I 'invested' on Mon & Tues, and Murphy's Law says our performances (start to) happen today ;)
Hello all
It felt like it was a really slow morning, then suddenly things started happening!
I've got to find myself a decent highlights package on later, but until then track cycling.
cycling bikes scare me, they're so thin!
10.40pm BBC1, unless there's something live to go to. Or perhaps 7pm.
Fast too. And they have no brakes.
I am still not convinced this is a smart idea :)
Drama in the velodrome.. China win, but officials relegated them to 2nd for a violation. Germany get the gold
Smae / similar to GB earlier?
It's been fine in speedway in years, and that has engines.
And telephones, that makes the appeals a lot more fun.
But their feet are (somewhat) locked in, and there is no back-pedaling in the chain system - the feet have to keep moving, even on warm-down.
I missed it earlier as I was out. China's two overlapped each others front/back wheels and apparently you can't do that except when you change places or at the end.
Apparently it was the same thing yeah
Is the Men's final delayed (my searching says it should've happened)
All the relegations and appeals mean the schedule is behind half an hour or so.
Ahha :) cheers.
Was anyone watching GB win a silver in the pool (Breaststroke I think)?
team gb about to go for the relay cycling final now :)
Perfect timing. Got settled down just as Hoy reaches the track
WOO!!
world record!!!
Nearly half a second
Bam!
GB Gold, WR. This is a quick team on a quick track. :)
so that's why ferrari want a 3 driver team
To let Massa and Alonso do the set up work for Hamilton?
Hoy now has 5 gold medals
BBC dropped the pics from the online feed, so I only had the audio.
Hoy: G G G G G S > Redgrave: G G G G G B (although you might argue that winning one per year is better, ...)
Wiggles might only keep his top Brit status for a day or two!
He only has 4 golds and besides he's Belgian
Don't blame me, the TV were excited about his seven medals yesterday. I just went along with it.
I have yet to buy my sideburns though. Maybe I won't have to. What is distinctive about Hoy?
Some people count all medals and others count golds.
Nothing particularly distinctive
The gold medal shooter guy was funded by a Sheikh!
In his spare time he's a Premier League referee. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16146536
I've come to the conclusion that I've been doing the Olympics wrong. I've been getting home and scrabbling to find out what I've missed. I really just need to wait till 7pm and let Gary tell me it all. Much better!
I've enjoyed it, and they cross live to swimming straight after the recap so you don't even need to flip over.
Silly me doing it wrong :)
He's a bit of a crier!
Even the BBC have changed the way they rate the medals! Fickle.
GB just scored against Belgium in the hockey... Ashleigh Ball.
I want to go to kiwi house tomorrow, medallists show up at 11.30 to show off their wares, hope they're still there when I arrive, would love to see our gold!
With all this stuff going on I keep forgetting to do basic things, like eat, or take the rubbish out.
Soni breaks her own record, first woman inside 2m20s in 200m breaststroke
What I am hoping is that when the Olympics is over, all the time that I had before will suddenly seem like a lot more!
She looks tiny next to Sharron Davies
Me too! Might even get me to start blogging again.
Ryan Lochte up next.
Woooooah, three of them in it at the end and Lochte comes third!
The swimming can be so exciting!
Wouldn't have expected that at all! And he's got another one in what, half an hour?
I've been watching handball for 25 minutes and still not sure I get it. But Serbia are winning! And the man right behind my right ear has a very loud clap. Ow.
I watched it on TV a couple of days ago and it seemed to be like basketball with a goal instead of a net, so I wasn't sure what the point was!
I like to think of it as a European version of basketball, and not-basketball, which makes it all of a lot better.
the goalies don't look like they're trying very hard. The Danish one spend most of his time sitting down. They even wear more clothes!
I think it's a little more violent than basketball in a quite entertaining way
Wow the 50m is over in a flash
Like the 100m running.

I've been watching it for 5 years and I still don't get it.
Something like that!
Does anyone here remember the old video game Speedball 2?
Stupid phone
Goddard goes in lane 1 in this one. Not expecting too much with Lochte and Phelps next door!
Goddard has a blue cap on! How will I tell him apart?
Phelps gets the gold.
20th medal for Phelps, and a gold!
Stealth swim.
Goddard looked good on the breaststroke leg but lost a lot on the turn, I think. He finished seventh. I blame the blue cap.
Showing us some judo highlights. They end up in a bit of a state, wild hair, belt all undone. Blimey.
Phelps gets off the medal podium and straight to the pool for the 100m semi final
These swimmers are crazy!
And he wins it. :)
"The President called me yesterday, it was pretty cool"
Phelps: "The President called me yesterday... that was pretty cool."
But who was on hold for who?
Usually they get a call and they say 'please hold for the President' or something like that. So I suppose Obama was on hold while they set up the call and Phelps was on hold while they pit him through?
*put
I was thinking we wouldn't be particularly good at the basketball because we can't possibly have any giants like the US. I see some Team GB giants though. Not sure if they are actually good or not, of course.
Basketball is quite fun, really, because you have the normal sized people at the defending end and as you get near the basket/hoop/goal/net/thing end they just go super sized.
Tomorrow's schedule in which the athletics gets underway: http://www.london2012.com/schedule-and-results/day=3-august/all-day.html
I flicked past the channel earlier and GB were miles behind Spain, and I never thought they'd catch up because Spain are very good.. but wow 4 points in it right at the end!
We've got a guy who's name I've forgotten who is a big NBA star.
I love that the coach people have little etch-a-sketches to draw on.
Wow, it finished one point apart! Spain are no.2 in the world.. GB are 43rd...
One point!!
Tomorrow evening looks like a lot of fun. Cycling pursuit and keirin, then swimming with Adlington's final, then the track for 200m heptathlon (will have to read 110m hurdles in a.m.) and women's 10k. Mind you the football quarters are on, women GB v Canada at 7.45. May have to break out the multiple feeds for the first time!
someone had a magna doodle the other day. Instant love
Has everyone (who's interested) seen the Doctor Who trailer? @steven_moffat:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrEUBl2pacU
(off topic I know)
You can get away with it because they showed it earlier in one of the "breaks". :)
I'm going to have to dash. Much fun, another fabbo day. Thanks to all and same again tomorrow! Unless you're like... going out on a Friday night or something crazy like that.
Sneakily reading BBC live text, these comments and Twitter is quite difficult at work. I can't wait until hometime to rush back to the TV. Feels like being a kid again. :) No way am I going out tomorrow night and I'm trying to persuade people I know to stop bugging me over the weekend. See you tomorrow!
I shall try and update from St. James' if they've improved their mobile-friendliness....
